  • I Found a Crazy Convincing Clare V. Crossbody Dupe for $275 Less Than the Original

I Found a Crazy Convincing Clare V. Crossbody Dupe for $275 Less Than the Original

If there’s anything I’ve learned while living in New York City, it’s never to underestimate the importance of a crossbody bag. This purse style slings over your body for maximum security, but it’s also the ideal size (not too big and not too small) for holding all your everyday necessities. One brand that’s made a name for itself because of its crossbody bags is Clare V. However, if you’re not ready to shell out $375, I’ve found a Clare V. crossbody dupe that costs only $100.

Clare V.’s Midi Sac is a do-it-all kind of purse that is quite literally the perfect size. Measuring 7.5 inches in width, 5.5 inches in height, and 2.5 inches in depth, the brand touts it as a day-to-night bag that can hold your phone, keys, wallet, glasses, and more. Don’t worry, there’s also room for a lippie (or three!), a pack of gum, and a mini perfume bottle, too. But besides its capacity, it’s made from handwoven leather and comes with a detachable crossbody strap that you can swap for other Clare V. straps. You can also choose from 19 (!!) different colorways—from more daring cobalt blue and army green to more neutral cream and tan.

How does the dupe at hand, Quince’s Italian Leather & Raffia Crossbody, compare? Top-quality leather? Check. Detachable crossbody strap? Check. Similar dimensions? Check. They’re basically cousins if you ask me! However, the Quince bag has one interior zip pocket over the Clare V. original, as the latter has no interior or exterior pockets. And while the Italian Leather & Raffia Crossbody only comes in two colorways, they’re both classic options you could match with almost anything.

Quince Italian Leather & Raffia Crossbody Clare V. Midi Sac
    Dimensions 6″ H x 8.5″ W x 3″ D 7.5″ W x 5.5″ H x 2.5″ D
    Materials 100% top-grain Italian leather and cotton-nylon blend raffia;
    Lining: 100% cotton
    Handwoven leather
Strap Removable and adjustable crossbody strap with 22″-24″ drop 45.5″ detachable strap
Pocket(s) 1 interior zip pocket None
    Made In Florence, Italy Bangladesh
    Price $100 $375

I’m not the only one who sees the resemblance between the two purses. One reviewer wrote, “I am very impressed with this bag. Beautifully designed and executed. Very stylish. This bag is almost identical to a well-known ‘designer’ bag I own that was much, much more expensive. This was my third purchase of the crossbody style bag, each as beautiful as the next. Highly recommend.”

Another shopper raved, “I’ve been looking for a summer purse for a few months now. This is exactly what I pictured in my mind. It looks great, holds enough but not too much, I’m obsessed!”

If the price tag on Clare V.’s crossbody bag has been holding you back from finally splurging, you know what to do. Check out with Quince’s Italian Leather & Raffia Crossbody in your cart and watch it become your go-to purse of the summer. Who knows, you might even end up like the shopper who bought three versions! For additional chic, affordable, editor-vetted options from the brand, take a peek at our team’s Quince review.

  • These Target Mesh Flats Look Like an Expensive Designer Pair—But They’re Actually On Sale For $20

These Target Mesh Flats Look Like an Expensive Designer Pair—But They’re Actually On Sale For $20

As someone who works in fashion, I’m constantly surrounded by people who wear expensive clothing and accessories. So, when I recently spotted another editor walking around in a pair of mesh flats, I wrote them off as something well beyond my budget. I’ve seen similar pairs from luxury brands like Khaite ($790) and Chloé ($690), and while Loeffler Randall, Reformation, and Dear Frances all make cheaper lookalikes, they still cost over $100.

So imagine my surprise when I was informed that the mesh flats I was eyeing were actually from Target. And not just that—they were currently on sale for just $20.

Of course, Target is the place to go for quality designer dupes, especially if we’re talking shoes. The store sells everything from Givenchy-like boots to sandals that can pass for Hermes. It’s not all that shocking that it would be selling one of the top shoe trends for 2024, which pairs perfectly with eveything from summer sundresses to ruffled shorts to casual pairs of jeans.

However, A New Day’s Mel Sheer Mesh Ballet Flats have seemingly flown under the radar. All sizes, ranging from 5 to 12, appear to be available, and shoppers are able to choose between both white and black colorways.

Still, customers who have added these shoes to their rotation are giving them glowing reviews, marveling at the fact they can get the luxury look for a lot less.

“The most comfortable flats and the best price. I am not paying Khaite prices for it,” one person wrote, before providing a warning about sizing—and adding a special request to Target. “Side note these aren’t true to size as in it is a bit narrow. So you can go half a size your normal size for better fit. Target make these in burgundy red before summer is over.”

Aside from being labeled as a “great designer dupe,” with many noting that they’re “quality,” these shoes also have memory foam insoles, which customers say is a game changer.

“Love these shoes and they are super comfortable!” read another 5-star review.

Weirdly enough, the only negative comments I found were people not understanding that these shoes were fully sheer…which is the whole point and even included in the product name. Thankfully, Target makes regular ballet flats, too, so if see-through isn’t your style, you’ll be able to find a more classic option (like this one, which costs just $16).

I really feel it’s only a matter of time before the world catches on and these shoes sell out. So, if you’re ready to embrace the mesh flat trend for summer, you should probably just add ’em to cart, ASAP (along with this embellished alternative which is $24 and just as cute, IMO).
