    A person was taken to the hospital after driving their vehicle off an overpass and landing on Highway 99 in Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP said the car went off of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and landed on the northbound side of Highway 99. That crash caused several other small crashes on the highway, but no injuries have been reported. The Sacramento Fire Department said the transported patient was the the driver of the vehicle, who sustained serious injuries. It is unclear what caused them to drive off the overpass.     A driver suffered major injures after crashing his vehicle outside Naturwood Furnishings in Rancho Cordova early Saturday, the California Highway Patrol said. A large wheel located outside the business was broken as a result of what CHP said appeared to be a DUI-related incident.The crash was reported around 3:30 a.m. when the driver went off Highway 50 and took out about 75 feet of chain-link fencing, CHP said. The vehicle rolled over and its engine block was separated from the vehicle.     SANTA CLARA, Calif. —

    The Air Force and Navy will perform their first-ever joint Super Bowl flyover at Levi’s Stadium on Sunday, with Oakdale native Lieutenant Dalton Stewart among the pilots.

    Stewart, a Navy pilot who flies an F/A-18 Super Hornet, is based at the Naval Air Station in Lemoore, south of Fresno. He noted that a flyover like this requires significant preparation.

    As a big football fan, he is looking forward to Sunday, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

    “I’m excited to be able to represent the Navy and represent my hometown and where I’m from, where I grew up, what made me into what I am today on a world stage, really,” Stewart said.

Meanwhile, coaches in Northern California, like Julia Durkee and Paolo Borromeo from Skatetown Roseville, are preparing to inspire the next generation of athletes. The letter, dated Jan. 16, said that California Dreamin’ Entertainment missed a final extension for paying up. It warned that the lease agreement would be voided on Feb. 2 and Cal Expo would take possession of the water park on Feb. 3. Cal Expo said in a statement that, as of Tuesday, California Dreamin’ Entertainment was in breach of its contractual obligations. This came after it first sent a notice to the company on Oct. 31, 2025, about an unresolved past-due balance. An initial deadline to pay was Dec. 4 and then extended to Dec. 18. Cal Expo said its Long-Range Planning Committee denied another request for an extension on Dec. 11. “Cal Expo looks forward to exploring partnerships and new opportunities for the water park that align with our long-term vision and operational goals that maximize the site’s potential,” Cal Expo said.
