    “I think you’re gonna have to stay tuned, because Hondo is not done yet,” teased Cummings, who went on to say Ohnaka is a favorite performance of his. “He’s one of my favorites, because he’s a lovable rogue. You could probably actually trust him… He looks out for Ezra, and he looks out for the younglings, as they call them, and he won’t do anything to harm anybody. But I wouldn’t want to play cards with him.”

    Model Gigi Hadid has opened up about auditioning for Disney’s live-action remake of 2010’s fan-favorite Rapunzel movie, Tangled. Besides appearing as herself in reality shows and competition shows like The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Lip Sync Battle, and Next in Fashion, Hadid’s only film credit was her cameo appearance in 2018’s Sandra Bullock-led heist movie Ocean’s 8.

    During a recent interview with Vogue, Hadid shared that she actually auditioned for the leading role of Rapunzel in Disney’s live-action Tangled movie. According to the model, her long-time boyfriend Bradley Cooper inspired her to pursue acting. To prepare for the audition, she took singing lessons. Despite not getting the part, she expressed how happy she was with her audition.

    “I was really proud of my scene,” Hadid said to long-time friend Kendall Jenner. “The singing…I knew they were going to go with a real singer, but I’ll show you my audition scene later.”

    At the moment, the status of the upcoming Tangled movie is still unclear. Per a previous report, production on the Tangled remake would reportedly only begin again depending on the box office performance of the upcoming Moana live-action movie. Before it was halted, The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey was attached to direct from a screenplay written by Thor: Love and Thunder’s Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Black Widow stars Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh were also reportedly being considered for the respective roles of Mother Gothel and Rapunzel.

    The original 2010 animated movie was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard from a screenplay written by Dan Fogelman. The cast was led by Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Donna Murphy, Brad Garrett, Ron Perlman, Jeffrey Tambor, Richard Kiel, M.C. Gainey, and Paul F. Tompkins.   • New Tron 3 Ad Features Mr. Beast And Folks, I’m So Tired – Kotaku

    A new promo for the upcoming Tron: Ares features Mr. Beast in it and….*sigh* I’m just going to lie down for a moment. I’m very tired.

    Why must Tron fans suffer? It’s a question I’ve thought about a lot. New Tron movies are rare. Tron games are often good, but nowhere near as plentiful as those for Star Wars or other brands. For years at a time, it will seem like Disney has forgotten it even owns the franchise, then it returns for a bit before going back into hibernation once more. I should, as a big Tron sicko, be excited for Tron: Ares. And I was, at one point. But not anymore…not anymore.

    On September 5, Disney released a new look at Tron: Ares, but before anyone could get to the new footage featuring everyone’s favorite person, Jared Leto, we had to get a Mr. Beast jumpscare. Apparently, Disney thinks popular charity streamer and candy bar mogul Mr. Beast saying “Let’s do this!” in the most monotone and robotic way possible will help bring in the youth and make Tron: Ares a big hit. Instead, my timeline and most of the reactions to the ad show people giving up on the movie before it even arrives in theaters. And despite Mr. Beast not actually being in the movie, can you blame them?

    The movie stars Jared Leto, which alone is a terrible marketing point. He’s a so-so actor who has been accused of sexual misconduct (allegations which he denies), and overall he just seems like a big creep. Then you have the plot of Tron: Ares, which seems to be built around the idea of digital beings from the Grid being brought into the real world. Meh. It’s neat to see a Lightcycle slice a police car in half, but leaving the Grid seems like a mistake. Now, the movie is being promoted by Mr. Beast. It almost seems like Disney is trying to pull a Producers-like stunt here and ensure nobody watches Tron: Ares. 

    I guess the one good thing to come out of Tron: Ares is the existence of some new Nine Inch Nails music. That’s cool. I like that. Even if the movie sucks, at least it helped push Disney to remaster Tron: Legacy in 4K and got us all some new NIN songs. So not a total loss.

    The sad thing is, I’ll still be there on day one (that’s October 10, by the way) to see Tron: Ares because I love Tron and want more of it. “Let’s do this,” indeed, Mr. Beast. Indeed.

  • Disney will pay $10 million to settle FTC complaint that it collected children’s data on YouTube

    The Federal Trade Commission that Disney will pay $10 million to settle allegations that the entertainment giant allowed data collection on YouTube videos meant for children. Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, also known as , companies are required to notify parents and obtain parental consent if they collection information from minors. According to the FTC complaint, Disney failed to properly label some YouTube videos as “Made for Kids,” which allowed the company to collect data and deliver targeted ads to viewers younger than 13.

    The proposed order from the FTC would also require Disney to create a review process for determining when and how videos are correctly designated with YouTube’s Made for Kids label. YouTube rolled out the Made for Kids tags following a settlement in 2019 on charges that the video platform had violated COPPA. Google faced an additional settlement of last month from a similar class-action lawsuit.

  • Disney to pay $10 million to settle FTC lawsuit over collecting kids’ data

    Disney will pay $10 million to settle allegations by the Federal Trade Commission that the entertainment company facilitated the “unlawful collection” of children’s personal data.

    In a complaint filed on Tuesday, the FTC said that Disney Worldwide Services and Disney Entertainment Operations — two entities that offer technical support and media content — violated the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule, known as COPPA, by failing to properly label some videos uploaded to YouTube as “made for kids.” The mislabeling also exposed children to “age-inappropriate YouTube features,” the FTC said in a statement.

    “Our order penalizes Disney’s abuse of parents’ trust, and, through a mandated video-review program, makes room for the future of protecting kids online — age assurance technology,” FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson said in a statement. 

    Signed into law in 1998, COPPA requires commercial website operators to disclose to parents of children under 13 that they are collecting personal data and obtain the parents’ prior consent.

    The videos in question included content from Disney movies including “Coco,” “Frozen” and “Toy Story” and as well as music from “The Incredibles.”

    A spokesperson for Disney told CBS News that the settlement does not involved Disney-owned and operated digital platforms and that it is limited to some of the content on the company’s YouTube platform.

    “Disney has a long tradition of embracing the highest standards of compliance with children’s privacy laws, and we remain committed to investing in the tools needed to continue being a leader in this space,” the spokesperson said in a statement. 

    YouTube requires videos to be labeled as “made for kids” if children are the video’s primary audience or if the content reflects “an intent to target children,” according to the Alphabet-owned platform. YouTube also says on its website that failure to properly label videos could lead to “legal consequences under COPPA and other laws.” 

    YouTube began requiring video uploaders to add the “made for kids” label after it reached a similar settlement in 2019 with the FTC over COPPA violations. 

    Disney’s agreement with the FTC also calls for the company to create a program to review whether videos posted to YouTube should be designated as made for children the agency said.

  • 7-year-old girl battling leukemia gets magical Disney wish granted

    HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A seven-year-old girl battling leukemia got her biggest wish granted. Seven-year-old Allie loves Disney princesses and twirling around in sparkly dresses. She dreamed of going on a magical adventure to Disney World – and thanks to Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast Louisiana and partner company NOV, her fairytale trip came true!

    Make-A-Wish and NOV surprised Allie with a Disney-themed send-off party at the Houston Museum of Natural Science, complete with balloons, tiaras and an enchanted castle backdrop. Her family says she didn’t have a second thought when asked what her greatest wish would be.

    “I think without hesitation, she said Disney World,” said Victoria Woods, Allie’s mom. “We’re excited to see Allie laugh and be full of life. Some of the things you see during cancer treatment are really difficult. This really takes the sting out.”

    Allie’s magical send-off was part of the Summer of Wishes campaign – a season dedicated to granting life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

    “Being part of a special moment like this with her family is indescribable,” said Shelly Millwee, President & CEO of Make-A-Wish Texas Gulf Coast Louisiana. “We have the backdrop of the amazing Disney princesses, which is what she is in love with.”

    “It means a lot to everyone, everyone who’s here, when you see a child realize that their dream is going to come true, that really makes a difference when you see that face light up, said David Reid, CTO/CMO of NOV.

  • Creative minds behind the Disneyland experience show Fort Myers girl the ropes

    A Fort Myers teenager who is battling cancer wasn’t going to let treatment keep a dream from coming true.

    Madison, 13, is big on technology and learning all she can about how it works, from animation to audio and then some.

    Her request with Make-A-Wish Foundation, which provides life-changing experiences for kids facing critical illness, was a tour of the Walt Disney Imagineering campus in Glendale, California.

    Make-A-Wish keeps the last names of children confidential.

    While undergoing treatment for leukemia, Madison read “The Imagineering Story” and watched “Behind the Attraction” on Disney+ to learn all about the creative and tech professionals, called “Imagineers.”

    They bring the parks to life. One day she plans to join the team.

    “Meeting the Imagineers felt like something out of a dream,” she said. “I want to bring joy to people like they do.”

    What did she get to experience?

    Another highlight during her July 17 visit to Disneyland Resort; she became Disney’s 170,000th child visiting through Make-A-Wish.

    She met Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro and Leslie Motter, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish America.

    Some of the biggest moments of her exclusive VIP tour included a panel hosted by five Imagineers. They talked about the creative process for the special Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. Madison learned all about the attraction’s cutting edge technology.

    She got a full-on insider’s look at the rich history of Imagineering and the resort through sketches and archives at the Imagineering Resource Center.

    The next day she and her family did a walk through of Radiator Springs Racers at Disney California Adventure Park.

    The family visited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and rode Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

    Her trip culminated with recognition during the Celebrate Happy Cavalcade and a memorable tour of Walt Disney’s apartment on Main Street, U.S.A, where she was presented with a special autograph book signed by Imagineers

    All in a day’s work at Disney

    D’Amaro said Disney is honored to have so many Make-A-Wish kids choose the park.

    “Our Imagineers were thrilled to show Madison how they bring our stories to life in our parks,” he said. “Fulfilling her wish on the 70th anniversary of Disneyland made the moment even more special.”

    Disney has been supporting the Wish foundation from day one and today, 45 years later, is still making an impact on kids’ lives, Motter said.

    “170,000 wishes granted is a testament to the company’s steadfast commitment to delivering hope and joy when it’s needed most to wish kids and their families around the world,” he said.

    Walt Disney opened Disneyland in Anaheim, California, on July 17, 1955.  More than 70 years later, Disney today has grown into one of the world’s leading providers of family travel and leisure experiences.

    Since 1980 Make-A-Wish has granted more than 615,000 wishes worldwide; more than 390,000 wishes in the U.S. and its territories alone.

    Fresh coat of paint for Cinderella Castle

    Cinderella Castle will be going back to its classic colors.

    For the past few years, in celebration of the 70th anniversary of 1950’s Cinderella and the resort’s 50th anniversary, the castle has had a more rose gold look.

    TRON Lightcycle/Run to get Tron: Ares overlay

    To celebrate the new Tron: Ares film coming out this fall, the TRON Lightcycle/Run coaster at Magic Kingdom is getting a new overlay inspired by the movie.

    Starting Sept. 15, look for bright red and orange lights, along with music from the movie composed by Nine Inch Nails.

  • Snoop Dogg Was ‘Caught Off Guard’ Over a Gay Kiss in Lightyear

    Snoop Dogg is “scared to go to the movies,” and it’s not because of weed-based paranoia — it’s the 2022 animated origin story Lightyear. Specifically, the three-year-old movie’s representation of lesbian moms. “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere,” Snoop told It’s Giving, a podcast hosted by “self-love guru” and traditional-values proponent Sarah Fontenot, on August 20. He recalled taking his grandson to see Lightyear in the movie theaters and watching a scene where a character has two moms. “They’re like, ‘She had a baby — with another woman,’” he said. “Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie, is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’” Snoop claimed the problem is that “y’all throwing me in the middle of shit that I don’t have an answer for.” He added, “These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.” Someone should get Snoop Dogg a copy of And Tango Makes Three.

    On August 30, Snoop clarified what he meant in a comment of a Hollywood Unlocked Instagram video. “I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons all my gay friends no what’s up they been calling me with love 💗 my bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old 😳teach me how to learn I’m not perfect,” he wrote. Gay friends, please step forward.

    Following Snoop’s comments, there have been calls to cancel his performance at the Australian Football League finals on September 27. One of those calls is from Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, who called Snoop a “slur merchant” and requested the AFL book an Australian artist.

    In the scene in question, the character Hawthorne (voiced by Uzo Aduba) kisses her wife, Kiko, for less than a second. The kiss led to the movie being banned in 14 countries. Initially, Disney cut the gay kiss from Lightyear, but in the wake of Disney funding politicians who supported Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill, Pixar employees wrote a letter accusing the company of censoring “overtly gay affection” in its films. “Even if creating LGBTQIA+ content was the answer to fixing the discriminatory legislation in the world, we are being barred from creating it,” the employees said in the statement. Following the letter, Pixar added the scene back into the film.

    Since then, Disney and Pixar have removed gay content from films and TV, in line with the current conservative cultural shift that Snoop should be glad to hear about. Pixar reportedly cut any queer representation out of its 2025 movie Elio and made the main character more stereotypically masculine. Disney also cut a trans story line from the streaming show Win or Lose in 2024. Pixar executive Pete Docter told Bloomberg in 2024 that Pixar’s upcoming movies were going to be “less a pursuit of any director’s catharsis and instead speak to a commonality of experience,” widely interpreted as a move away from diversity. Sorry to Lightyear star Chris Evans; homophobia has not yet died out “like dinosaurs.”

  • The First ‘Tron’ Movies are Finally Getting Modern Releases

    If Tron: Ares has you wanting to watch the first two movies again, you’re in luck: they’re getting new and improved versions on September 16.

    During its Destination 23 showcase, Disney announced full remasters of the original Tron and its 2010 sequel Legacy are coming to Ultra 4K HD and digital. (It’s been a long time since either had physical versions, the last edition was a two-movie Blu-Ray bundle back in 2014.) Physical versions of the two films will come with fancy new steelbook editions seen below and are expected to have the special features at the time of their respective DVD releases back in the day. At time of writing, there’s no word on a price point, and it seems Disney’s got no inclination to re-releasing either film in theaters ahead of October’s Tron: Ares.

    Speaking of Ares, Disney also used its Destination showcase to reveal Nine Inch Nails’ music from the film will be used in the Tron Lightcycle Attractions at Walt Disney World Resort and Shanghai World Resort, beginning September 15 and 16, respectively. The score and red overlay seen throughout Ares’ marketing will be featured at the attractions for a “limited time.” There’s also a new promo for Ares hyping up its titular hero and the incoming invasion of digital beings to the human world he’ll play a key role in.

    Pre-orders for the Tron and Legacy steelbooks aren’t up yet at time of writing, but should be soon. Meanwhile, Tron: Ares hits theaters October 10.

  • The Zamboni Goalie Is a Disney Story Waiting to Happen. But He’d Rather Disney Not Tell It

    David Ayres was hitting the lowest point of his life — the lowest point, really, of any life. Having endured a kidney transplant and all the medical issues that come with it at 27, he was, several years later, feeling he had no reason to live, nothing motivating him to even get out of bed in the morning. 

    Ayres had once been a promising hockey goalie. But the medical issues ended all that without even a whiff of the minors, and now the Ontario native, living on added but borrowed time, wondered why he should even go on. He met with a friend and explained his situation; she encouraged him to get help and maybe even a job in a rink? He had long been versed in matters of ice maintenance. This way, he could be around the game he loved and perhaps even get in a little scrimmaging on the side. He took a job as an equipment and operations person, ending up at a rink in Calgary.

    So began a journey that would bring the workaday maintenance man from a modest Toronto suburb back from the brink — and, eventually, to a place where he became the oldest goalie to win an NHL regular-season game, the only goalie to come out of the stands to win an NHL game, and to one of the most unusual folk heroes modern sports has ever known.

    Along the way Ayres has also become both a Hollywood cautionary tale and an inspirational example, a man once broought aboard by Disney and CAA who nonetheless demonstrates (he hopes) the power of going your own indie way. And has done so with the kind of diffidence that can only come from a lifetime in the sports backwaters.

    “I have to admit I didn’t imagine a lot of it playing out this way,” Ayres says with an everyman shrug, “I just wanted to be on the ice.” He didn’t realize how slippery that would make things.

    The night of February 22, 2020 was not, as sports dates go, one that anyone might’ve expected historians to pen chapters about. The NFL season was three weeks finished; MLB’s opening day was four weeks away (and eventually thwarted by COVID); the lineup of NBA and NHL games was unremarkable. Eleven hockey games were played that night, two of them going to shootouts. 

    The contest between the Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotia Bank Arena in downtown Toronto was not one of them. The box-score shows the Canes winning 6-3, a routine victory in a humdrum part of the calendar.

    But peer a little deeper and you’ll see the winning goalie was one David Ayres, a 42-year-old ice-maintenance man for the Maple Leafs’ minor-league affiliate Marlies three kilometers west on Lakeshore Boulevard, a 42-year-old who had never been in an NHL game before that night — a 42-year-old who had bought some snacks and was hanging out in the stands when the game began.

    Thanks to the Emergency Backup Goalie rule that has both teams retaining the same neutral player in case of multiple injuries — think the “official quarterback” from childhood touch-football games — Ayres was technically capable of playing that night. (Early in the morning, before his official operations job began with the Marlies, he would often practice with the team as a scrimmage goalie.) 

    More than that — thanks to the so-called “EBUG” rule, Ayres was technically capable that night of playing for the visiting team. So when both Canes goalies went down to injury in the game’s first 30 minutes with the club up 3-1, Ayres got a text that he might want to hurry down to the locker room.

    And that’s how the 42-year-old sometime-Zamboni driver ended up in front of 18,000 of his hometown fans, as a member of the hometown organization — playing against his hometown team. He had been wearing a Leafs T-shirt to show that hometown support. He didn’t even take it off — he just pulled over it the Hurricanes jersey he was hastily handed.

    After rushing onto the ice, Ayres gave up goals on each of the first two shots — who wouldn’t? But then he made one save, then another, and another. Somehow, in the period-plus of hockey that followed, Ayres stopped all eight of the next shots, against All-Stars like Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. “I don’t think they took it easy on me,” Ayres recalls of those players. “Maybe they could’ve taken a step or two in but only a few times.” 

    The Hurricanes, meanwhile, scored three goals. And when the final horn sounded, Ayres had the win, the first-ever in the decades-long history of EBUG goalies. With both Canes and Leafs players mobbing him, it was probably the only time in sports history both the winning and losing team were exultant. Ayres had achieved his dream: he had played and won in the NHL. And won the adoration of a continent in the process.

    One byproduct in our attention-competitive world of doing something extraordinary as an ordinary person is that it tends to attract Hollywood people. Lots and lots of Hollywood people.

    In the days after his improbable win, Ayres got calls from and took impromptu meetings with representatives of no fewer than 27 production companies — all electrified by his story, all swearing they and they alone could do it justice. Ayres listened to them all patiently, then decided to go with James Corden and his production company Fulwell 73. 

    Corden had called Ayres shortly after the game just to congratulate the goalie — the host and performer saw a little of his own story as a humble middle-class son of a Bible salesman who’d put in the hard work and was touched by fate. Corden was one of the few not pitching him on a movie, just telling the ice-maintenance man he thought what he did was pretty cool. “It just seemed genuine, which I really liked,” Ayres says. 

    Ayres soon signed with an agency, CAA, and made a development deal with Disney, with Corden’s company producing. He was on his way to a new Hollywood career. In the outside world COVID raged and Ayres, put out of a job by the shutdown of all professional hockey, had to take remote work as a refrigeration salesman — he knew ice, after all. But on Zoom calls and in his mind, he was on his way to becoming the next Rudy.

    Unfortunately another byproduct of attracting Hollywood in our media-competitive world is that everyone in it thinks they know the best way to tell your story. Though assured early on he would be an integral part of the movie — he could even be in front of the camera shooting hockey scenes — Ayres was not consulted on the script, did not talk to any writers and, indeed, after a while had trouble hearing from his agents. “I don’t wish anyone anything bad but it all started to leave a bad taste in my mouth,” he says.

    What little he did hear didn’t fill him with hope. Disney seemed interested in turning his story into a comedy. Sounded fun — except Ayres didn’t feel particularly comedic about what happened. He had overcome a kidney transplant (his mother had donated it), depression, a divorce and a whole lot of early mornings and late nights in arena-operations jobs. Most devastatingly was the cancer-related death of his father — a train conductor who when he was younger quit his job to be close to his family, and also Ayres’ closest friend and coach — not too long before the big night. Getting onto the ice wasn’t a light tale — it was a testament to the power of grit. Ayres loved Rudy and Invincible and Miracle. They put a smile on your face, sure, but only after leaving a lump in your throat. And Disney was disregarding all of that.

    “I do a lot of inspirational speeches and I always tell people it’s not the hockey — sports just happens to be my path,” he says. “The real message is that just because something bad happens in your life you can’t give up on what you want; you have to find the strength to keep going even when you’re fragile. Hope in fragile times, that’s what it’s about.”

    Disney also wanted a big female romantic lead at the arena that night. But though Ayres had been married in 2020 and his wife was at the game, he subsequently underwent a bitter divorce and didn’t want his ex-wife represented in the movie.

    Ayres had landed the golden ticket — how many people working ordinary jobs find the country’s most famous studio wanting to make a movie about them? — only to learn he deeply didn’t want the prize.

    When the Disney option lapsed a few years later, Ayres decided not to shop it anew. Instead, he chose to do something very different: hire a writer who’d never had a produced screenplay in his life.

    Jim Tamburino is not someone, if your Hollywood project is hitting the skids, you’d normally bring on to get it back on track. The Long Island fortysomething has worked an assortment of entertainment-world odd-jobs without getting a movie made, while also focusing on other pursuits like a hockey fundraiser near his hometown. 

    But he has a passion for the sport and, as is evident from even a short conversation with him, a knack for envisioning a dramatic cinematic story. He had a vision for this movie — it would begin that 2020 night, flash back to Ayres’ dark depressive days and culminate back on the ice in Toronto. More important, he understood the tone the subject wanted: hopeful but serious.

    “It felt to me right away like a story about someone who just works really hard not knowing it would work out, but that’s OK because he just loved what he did,” says Tamburino. That vibe was captured by a scene after the game that Tamburino includes in his script: a bunch of Ayres’ friends want to take him out to celebrate the moment. But as he loads his equipment back in his truck, he declines — he has to be at the arena for practice and work early the next morning.

    So back and forth the pair went, draft after draft, hammering out issues both structural and specific, Ayres doing it on breaks from his new job as a freight-train conductor between Ontario and New York. (He does still play, at 48, in an Ontario senior league.) The script, he says, kept improving, before it eventually became a potent, tidy look at one man and the obstacles he overcame — the obstacles, through his various forms of ordinariness, Ayres hopes everyone could overcome. Oh, and through the magical-thinking of screenwriting, the woman with Ayres at the game was now his kidney-donating mother. This was a chance to do the fairy-tale over, and even better.

    Which brings the story to the present day. Before Ayres had a weak script and a lot of interest. Now he has what he says is a strong script and no interest. But this is the Zamboni Goalie, and that kind of thing doesn’t bow him. He has brought on two entertainment-world figures, an indie director named Dennis Latos and an indie producer named David Schuster, as producers. Neither has a ton of big-time credits either. But Ayres has been with the big-time. He didn’t like the big-time. So he and Tamburino are going another route. They’re hoping this producing pair can raise some money for an indie project. (Schuster says in an email that “There are some hockey greats associated with pro hockey and the NHL, names like Maurice Richard, Gordie Howe, Bobby Orr and Wayne Gretzky.” Ayres, with very different stat lines but a similar spirit, can he hopes now join them, he says.)

    Ayres and Tamburino have ideas on who else could be involved. The have talked to David Boreanaz as a possible director; the hyphenate is a Flyers super-fan and feels the game in his bones. Actors have not been consulted, but the duo like Wyatt Russell, who not only starred in Goon: Last of the Enforcers but played goalie in Europe, and so would understand both movement and the mindset. They feel like Hollywood gave up on them. But they’ve not given up on a movie. 

    There’s something fitting about the film odyssey they’re on. After all, the story itself is about not doing things the easy way.

    “I think about that a lot,” Ayres says. “How a movie about my journey is as hard and winding as the journey itself. But that’s OK. I mean, I have to learn my own lesson, right? I have to believe it will work out, no matter how dark it seems, no matter how many years it takes.”

    Meanwhile he and Tamburino go over the script again and again. The latest draft follows the same flashback structure, though now with a twist: it doesn’t end that night of the game. It ends with Ayres as a train conductor, fulfilling the dream his late father never saw through. As he always said, it was never about the hockey.

  • Tony Hale Worried He’d Be Replaced in ‘Toy Story 4’ by a “Huge Star”

    Tony Hale admits he didn’t know he actually made it in the final cut of Toy Story 4 until the film’s trailer was released.

    The actor who voices Forky in the 2019 animated pic recently told People magazine that he worried he might have been replaced by a “huge star” in the movie, despite reading for the role.

    “It wasn’t until I heard my voice on the Toy Story 4 trailer that I actually thought I was still in it. It wasn’t until then,” Hale said. “The whole time I was like, ‘They’re going to cut me. They’re going to replace me with some huge star.’”

    The Veep star actually had a notable role in the Oscar-winning movie, as Toy Story 4 follows his new toy, a talking spork called Forky, who joins Woody (Tom Hanks) and the gang on a road trip alongside old and new friends, as they learn how big the world can be for a toy.

    “When you were playing in a world of Forky from Toy Story, it means just the power of simplicity. That’s why children’s books are so popular. I mean, sometimes adults gravitate to children’s books because of the simplicity,” Hale said of the character. “What I loved is [Forky] was the first toy that was made by a kid. So talk about simplicity. I mean, it was like a spork and some pipe cleaner arms, some popsicle feet.”

    He added, “He just had this kind of wide-eyed simplicity and newness to him that was just so beautiful.”

    As for the upcoming Toy Story 5, which is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026, the Arrested Development alum briefly teased that the theme centers on toys vs. technology.

    “They give you pieces of the script, and so I saw glimpses, but the glimpses I saw are pretty cool,” Hale said. “I don’t want to lose the surprise. I want to be completely surprised with Toy Story 5.”

  • Disney announces new details for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

    LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Disney World revealed new details Thursday for the planned Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.

    Park officials in November announced the new theme for its popular Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride, which had been known for its Aerosmith storyline. This will be the first Disney ride to feature The Muppets, following their departure from the long-running Muppet*Vision 3D show, which closed earlier this year.

    The roller coaster will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2026, where the Electric Mayhem are set to headline “their biggest Hollywood concert ever,” according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog.

    “Anyone who’s anyone is in attendance to witness Animal, Dr. Teeth, and the rest of this groove-tastic group rock the house down. There’s just one little problem: the band is nowhere to be found!” Disney shared.

    Guests will take a VIP tour of the rock and roll recording studio, G-Force Records, which is now under management of The Muppets. It’s been done with the help of Scooter’s uncle, “real estate tycoon” and Muppet Theatre owner J.P. Grosse.

    The iconic guitar continues to serve as the anchor of the attraction, but with a new twist — the ruby red paint is being replaced with a “vibrant and psychedelic new design” on the bottom of the instrument, which Disney says is inspired by the appearance of a classic Muppet car. “The piano motif at the base will feature a golden key as a nod to a certain far-out band leader,” Disney revealed.

    The roller coaster, a “very fast limousine,” will take riders on a road trip across Hollywood to make it to the concert in time, full of exciting twists and turns, while enjoying music from the Electric Mayhem in their ears.

    “The iconic scenery and landmarks of Tinseltown will feature a Muppet twist,” stated Disney.

    Park officials said that more details for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets will be announced soon.

    The Halloween Hangar Bar menu offers nine new options including Alien Invader Sliders, Phantom Dumplings, The Spike Trap and Cauldron Cooler.

    The bar is based on Jock Lindsey, who Disney describes as “Indiana Jones’ barnstorming pilot who stumbled upon Disney Springs in 1938 while chasing down a mythology-based tip in Central Florida.”

    While the popular hangout spot is known to transform into the Holiday Hangar Bar in the wintertime, this is the first time it’s taking on a Halloween theme.

    The pirate pub, which is coming to Magic Kingdom Park and will welcome guests of all ages, is set to open on Aug. 29, according to a post on the official Disney Parks Blog, and reservations will be accepted starting Aug. 14.

    Disney officials also shared a first look at the menu, which offers a variety of themed food and beverages. Here’s a sampling of what to expect:

    • The Treasure Trove (nonalcoholic): A mix of ube, lemon and coconut. “You can also snack on some sweet treats, like a vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball and golden caramel popcorn,” Disney said.
    • The Cursed Treasure (nonalcoholic): A combination of coconut milk and cookie crumbs topped with vanilla foam and pirate’s gold cookie. “It’s that iconic cookies-and-cream flavor, in drink form,” Disney described.
    • Salty Seas mARRRgarita: Features Southeast Asian flavors, such as ube, which gives it the purple hue, as well as Lalo Blanco Tequila, Cointreau liqueur and lime.
    • Siren’s Whisper: A blue beverage that combines Pot & Column Still White Rum with citrus and spice. “This sip was inspired by the Fountain of Youth, also known as the Aqua de Vida from the films,” added Disney. This drink is also topped with a “siren tear.”
    • Barrels Ablaze: Features Jack Daniel’s Bonded Tennessee Whiskey, a hint of honey and a dash of spice.
    • Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale: A rum-based drink topped with prosecco. “The bubbly effervescence combined with hibiscus, demerara and citrus will make you feel like you’re charting the Atlantic,” stated Disney.
    • Port of Call: Features London Dry Gin, Ruby Port, lemon juice and spiced cranberry.
    • Lit Fuse: Features Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, and flavors of banana, coconut and smoked chili bitters.
    • Plunderer’s Punch: Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla and a hint of citrus. This drink is available in a souvenir pirate skull mug. (Limited to one per guest.)

    There will also be a selection of wine and draft beer from which to choose. According to Disney, The Beak and Barrel will be home to exclusive draft beer, including Victory Brewing Co. Pirate’s Paradise Blonde Ale and Wicked Weed Brewing Berried Treasure Session Sour, along with bottled and canned lager and IPAs, like Modelo Especial Lager, Red Stripe Lager and Bell’s Two Hearted IPA.

    Guests can also find wine by the glass options, including the Spice Route “Chakalaka” Red Blend, Quinta de Santiago Vinho Verde and the Viarae Prosecco.
