Turns out you don’t need to go up north to experience some winter magic.
Disney World’s Blizzard Beach water park, located in Orlando, Florida, will finally reopen on November 13 — and there are new touches to commemorate the start of the holiday season, a Disney blog reported on Tuesday.
The park will showcase new features from the animated sensation Frozen. The additions include statues of fan-favorite characters like Olaf and his Snowgie pals, as well as Elsa and Anna’s iconic igloo castle.

Disney World’s Blizzard Beach, which has always had a winter theme, opened in 1995 and became a festive success. It closed in January 2022 for refurbishment. Now, the final touches are ready to be showcased, and beyond the new Frozen-themed features, a new lift has been installed for transporting the tubes to the top of Runoff Rapids.
The heated water park will also have limited-time holiday specials through December 31, such as festive treats, snowfall and Santa Claus decked out in tropical garb.
It will go down as a ‘historic match’, not just in T20s or World Cups, but India-Pakistan cricket folklore spanning across decades. As Virat Kohli knocked Haris Rauf for two sublime sixes in the 19th over, taking India closer to a thrilling win, Disney+ Hotstar’s live viewership soared to 1.8 crore — a jump from the 1.4 crore the OTT platform had recorded in the India-Pakistan game in Asia Cup earlier this year. By the time Ashwin hit the winning runs off Nawaz, Hotstar concurrents may have dipped slightly to 1.6 crore. (These are analyst estimates, Hotstar is yet to disclose official numbers)
Hotstar is no stranger to cricketing highs, especially during marquee matches such as this in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Given the complete absence of India-Pakistan bilateral cricket over the last few years, ICC tournaments almost always add a fixture between the arch rivals that becomes a high-viewership vehicle. “Tournaments of national interest [like a World Cup], an India-Pakistan game is viewed with a lot of passion. Growth in terms of viewership on digital has been phenomenally high at 15-20 per cent YoY. There is a big opportunity for penetration and driving large eyeballs,” Karan Taurani, SVP, Elara Capital, tells Business Today.
However, this may not be repetitive, he says, given not all games will go down to the last ball and/or feature a Virat Kohli masterclass. However, “the concurrent views might be higher in the final match of the World Cup depending on which team qualifies and at what scale it is,” he says. “India has to obviously qualify for that along with a very competitive team – Pakistan, Australia, England, or New Zealand, which will develop the viewership.”
Advertising money, however, is not just made on concurrent viewership since most brands pre-sign contracts with the OTT platform. Given the influx of T20 matches this year, Hotstar is estimated to have seen a “steady viewership growth” of 15-20 per cent YoY, according to Elara Capital. “This is good news for OTT and digital advertising. And If you look at cricket advertising on digital, there is a potential for 30-40 per cent YoY growth given the sharp eyeballs we are seeing,” Taurani explains.
Cricket in Multiplexes
While Hotstar is making merry in streaming, India’s top multiplex operators PVR and INOX are also experimenting with match screenings. PVR, for instance, showed the India-Pakistan game across 125 screens, while INOX played it in 90+ cinemas, generating ~70 per cent hall occupancy.
While this may not be a sustainable business model for footfall recovery, the short-term benefits cannot be denied. “This is very much in line with what a hit film would do, but this is a one-day wonder, not a one-week wonder. Multiplexes will get minor gains here and there, but it is not a sustainable business model,” Taurani explains.
Short-term gains also factor in “slightly higher ticket prices” for cricket matches compared to that of movies, as well as higher F&B spends. The revenue-sharing model is also similar. “Multiplexes share 50 per cent with the BCCI compared to 50 per cent they would share with distributors for films. But the overall share of properties where cricket matches are shown is just about 20 per cent,” Taurani says, adding, “Multiplexes are doing this as test runs because they know very few matches will attract big audiences [like the India-Pak game did].”
Both PVR and INOX attested to the high turnout for the Sunday game. INOX Leisure CEO Alok Tandon told PTI, “The response that we got for this match across all the 90-plus cinemas has been phenomenal, identical to a blockbuster movie. The electric environment in the auditoriums was much like what someone witnessed in the stadiums.”
PVR shares were up 1.23 per cent up to Rs 1,736.90, while INOX was trading 0.15 per cent higher at Rs 508.40 on the BSE on Tuesday.
Disney may not be the most wonderful place on earth if your annual pass doesn’t allow you to visit freely.
BRYAN R. SMITH I Getty ImagesThe Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.
That’s at least according to a class action lawsuit that accuses Walt Disney Parks and Resorts of breach of implied contract, among other things, for changing the rules on annual pass holders after the pandemic hit.
“Disney has abused a global pandemic to take advantage of its Platinum Pass holders and Platinum Plus pass holders even after the threat of the pandemic has subsided,” the lawsuit said.
Disney consumers of late have also expressed anger with price increases at Victoria & Albert’s restaurant and in the park as a whole. But these customers are fighting back with more than angry words on social media.
The crux of the issue is around Disney’s old system of annual passes, which allowed people entrance to the park all year, generally speaking. Two of those types of passes, Platinum and Platinum Plus Pass did not have “blackout dates.”
These dates, which affected the cheaper Gold and Silver annual passes, tended to correspond with high attendance at the park, it adds.
The two customers purchased Platinum Plus passes. One of the plaintiffs said she bought one for herself and each member of their family, for $633 each. The other one, whose pass is set to expire in 2030, paid $67.75 a month.
“Prior to March 15, 2020, Platinum Pass and Platinum Plus Pass holders were permitted to go to all four Florida Disney parks 365 days a year without any Blockout Dates or restrictions,” the lawsuit wrote.
Then, after the coronavirus hit, Disney “effectively” introduced blackout dates, as well as other restrictions, presumably for crowd control. The lawsuit claims the company has acted unfairly in not lifting them as the pandemic became less of an issue, in their estimation.
Now, Disney has a reservation system for all visitors, including annual passes. The lawsuit contends only a certain number of Platinum Passholders are only allowed a day, ruling some days out.
The group also used to be able to “park hop” to more than one Florida park in one day, which the company only now allows after 2 p.m., per Insider.
Further, the group was not allowed to make more than five (it was three) days of reservations at a time, and you couldn’t book days again until the trip had passed.
“This meant that in order for Plaintiffs to make a reservation for the month of November, while currently in the month of May, they would be unable to use their Platinum Pass for nearly six months,” the lawsuit said.
It contends that none of these restrictions were in the original agreements of the passes purchased and that thus the company is engaging in things like unjust enrichment and in violation of the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act.
Disney now offers a different set of passes, Insider noted. The plaintiffs said their passes were switched “unilaterally” to a new one, the Incredi-Pass, which has more restrictions and fewer benefits than the platinum one purchased, they argued.
Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But the company pushed back against the lawsuit to News 6.
“Annual Passholders continue to be some of our biggest fans and most loyal guests. We’ve been upfront with Passholders about the updates we’ve made, and we offered them the flexibility to opt-in or opt-out of the program early in the pandemic, including refunds if they desired. This lawsuit mischaracterizes the program and its history, and we will respond further in court,” the company wrote.

Ryan Reynolds and Qui Nguyen are apparently working on a new movie, centered around a mythology baked into Disney theme parks called “The Society of Explorers and Adventurers.” Qui Nguyen is best known for his work on various Broadway plays, but he’s also gotten a decent career as a screenwriter off the ground. He’s worked on Dispatches from Elsewhere, The Society, Incorporated, and Peg + Cat. He also wrote Raya and the Last Dragon and is currently working on the upcoming Disney animated film Strange World.
While the movie idea feels pretty fresh, there’s also a Disney+ show in the works that plays off of the same ideas. It’s apparently going to be completely unrelated though, aside from having the same inspiration. The SEA, as it’s known, was originally added to the Tokyo Disneyland versions of rides like the Haunted Mansion and the Tower of Terror. The general plot of the whole thing is that there’s a society of explorers and adventurers. That being said, it’s also home to scientists, artists, and many other interesting people. The society was founded in 1538 in Italy, so it’s had plenty of time to expand its ranks.
Nguyen says that he has a unique idea for a take on the SEA, adding a host of supernatural elements, new history, and new characters. The hopes are that the film will kick off a whole franchise. There are really no more details on what exactly Ryan Reynolds is going to be doing on the project, but we do know that he’ll be producing at the very least. Of course, since the movie isn’t close to production yet, there’s no release date lined up.

John Stamos is still fully embracing what made him a household name nearly 35 years ago: being a family entertainer. You can now see Stamos in season two of Big Shot on Disney+.
This season on Big Shot, “Marvyn Korn” (John), a disgraced college basketball coach, is out to prove his high school women’s basketball team belongs on ESPN and recruits an unlikely player to do so.
The role was a major challenge for Stamos, who’s not a sports guy.
“It was one of the scariest things I’ve ever done, and I’m not kidding,” the 59-year-old actor told me via Zoom video. “I’ve put myself out there a lot. Being a doctor on ER was easier than being a coach, because I’m telling you, the lingo is just as foreign to me. At least the medical stuff is Latin, so you can kind of piece it together. I know nothing about it.
Fortunately, I have a good friend, Roger Lodge (current California sports radio host, former host of Blind Date), and he helped me out a lot. I really did have to dig deep into it because if I wasn’t believable as this coach, then there’s no show. And I didn’t know what was going to happen.
“I prepped as much as I could. I talked to people. I read books, John Wooden (legendary UCLA basketball coach) stuff and Bobby Knight (Legendary Indiana coach). And by the way, that guy’s funny, Bobby Knight. But I didn’t know.
“The first day of shooting the show, I was finishing Fuller House. And it was in the backyard, and the girls were getting married, and it was a whole wedding, and it was speeches, and very emotional and sweet. And then I drove across town, and I had to scream at these college kids and throw a chair and have all this anger. And I don’t know where— I think a little bit of it was my father.

“He was sort of a gruff guy— loving guy, but gruff. And just the writing, I trusted the writing, and it just kind of fell into place. But I constantly have to sort of work hard on the terminology and just the— I’m not a jock. I just didn’t come from that world. My dad said, ‘You go out of your way to hate sports.’ Someone always had to lose.
“I tried to golf. My dad was a golfer, and I wanted to spend time with him, so I took lessons. I said, ‘Dad, let’s go.’ And I went to the thing and I sliced the ball. And it flew right past a woman who’s maybe 85 years old, missed her temple by that much. My dad said, ‘Put the club— get in the car.’ But I could have killed somebody. So I said that’s it for sports for me.”
Taking on the role gave Stamos a new perspective on sports.
“I really do have a newfound respect for sports, especially women’s sports,” the Cypress, California native said. “We talk a lot about the inequality, which is an important thing to get out there. I talk about getting the high schools, the championship game on ESPN, because they only broadcast the boys.
“It’s,’Why?’ Girls actually— they play the sport better. They’re better at it. It’s better to watch. It’s more interesting to watch these women. And I’m glad that we get that across as well.”

Stamos’ performance in the series garnered accolades from an unlikely radio legend, John’s friend Howard Stern.
“The last interview (with Howard) I did, I was waiting for my turn to have that in-depth, deep hour-and-a-half interview, and we did it last time for Big Shot,” John said. “He called me. He watched.
“I was getting ready to do the show, and they sent him the links for the last season. And I’m getting a call, and it’s Howard calling me. And first of all, it’s pretty rare you get a call from him. He’s a busy guy. And I thought, ‘Oh, Ralph (Cirella, Howard’s friend, on-air personality) is dead, probably. Why is Howard calling?’
“And it turns out that he watched all the episodes. And Beth (Stern’s wife) played high school basketball. And I mean, he talked about the show like it— it was really one of the greatest calls I’ve ever gotten. And then he called me when Bob (Saget) passed away, and we talked for an hour. And it was like— again, it just shows his character. And people may think that he’s just a shock jock. He’s a good man and a good friend.”
Another Disney project the actor tackled this year is voicing Iron Man/Tony Stark for the Spidey and His Amazing Friends (Disney, Disney Jr.) animated series. John approached the role with respect for the iconic character and incorporated some old and new takes on the Marvel legend, only to learn he may have been taking the gig a little too seriously.
“I did overthink it, and I’m not a Marvel guy either. My wife is [into Marvel],” Stamos said. “And so I did a deep dive. The talent that they put in these movies early on, Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth (Paltrow), what a smart— what a brilliant franchise. I get why it’s so popular.
“It was a little daunting because it’s such an important character, and I wanted to be respectful, But I kind of came in with a little bit of Downey, a little rhythm in my voice and stuff, and they’re like, ‘No, no, no. Don’t do that, don’t do that.’ First of all, it’s for three or four-year-olds, and because I was starting to call [characters] nicknames… But it finally has settled into, ‘That’s my version of Tony Stark and Iron Man.’

“And it started to work. Really, I’m just trying to get my kid to think I’m cool. I’m just doing everything I can. I was on Mickey’s Funhouse, [where] I play a pirate.
“I really enjoy doing it. It’s just a way to get out there to entertain people. This world is … we need comfort food. We need good quality programming. We need, hopefully, good role models out there preaching love and happiness and appreciation and gratitude.”
The parents watching John’s Disney projects today have a special bound with the performer after growing up watching him play “Uncle Jesse” on Full House in the late 80s to mid-90s and now, they get to share his work with their children.
“I am happy to have [the bond]. This world is in a— I don’t need to tell you, it’s a little topsy-turvy right now, and we need shows like this,” Stamos said. “We need comfort food right now. And I think I could be part of that. That’s what I think about it.
“I really haven’t thought about it [much], but … I think people could look to me now and feel safe. And again, it’s like comfort food. I’ve been coming into people’s homes for 40 years, so that’s a great in. … So they go in that way, and then they trust me to take them on a pretty fun, interesting journey.”
After a long, lucrative career in Hollywood that remains steady and with a four-year-old son at home, John’s learned to appreciate “microtransactions” or the little special moments in life that are gone too soon, especially for parents.
I said in the very first episode (of Big Shot) last year, ‘Can you look in the mirror at the end of the day and say, ‘I did my very best today?’ ‘Was I loving? Was I the best father I could be?’” Stamos recalled. “Last night, [my son] was coming home from Disneyland and he was asleep.
“And I’m taking him, was going to set him down in his room quietly. And I had so much to do. I had to get ready for this, and I had other stuff. And I’m sneaking out and he goes, ‘Dad.’ I’m like, ‘Oh.’ ‘Could you read me a story?’ And in my mind, I was like, ‘I got so— yes.’”
Walt Disney Co announced on Tuesday it will be pushing back the release dates for numerous upcoming Marvel films including, “Blade,” “Fantastic Four” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.”
Following “Blade” director Bassam Tariq’s departure from the project in September due to scheduling conflicts, Marvel has decided to temporarily shut down production of the film to search for a new director. “Blade” is now slated to premiere on Sept. 6, 2024 instead of Nov. 3, 2023, which has impacted the rest of the studios’ production scheduling.
“Deadpool 3” has moved from Sept. 6, 2024 to Nov. 8, 2024; “Fantastic Four” has been shifted from Nov. 8, 2024 to Feb. 14, 2025; an untitled Marvel project was moved from Feb. 14, 2025 to Nov. 7, 2025; “Avengers: Secret Wars” has been pushed from Nov. 7, 2025 to May 1, 2026; and an untitled Marvel movie went from May 1, 2026 to no longer being on Disney’s release schedule.
A source familiar with the studio’s plans told Reuters that Marvel is using the “Blade” production break to find a replacement for Tariq to work with “Moon Knight” writer Beau DeMayo, who’s the main screenwriter for “Blade.”
An unnamed source with authority on the film starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali told The Hollywood Reporter that “They want to get it right,” which subsequently means delays.
The Marvel Blade character who first appeared in comic book “The Tomb of Dracula,” written by Marv Wolfman in 1973 eventually had his own storyline that was later adapted into the Wesley Snipes film trilogy which includes, “Blade,” “Blade II” and “Blade Trinity.”
Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Multiverse, stories have been intertwined and a significant delay from one film often impacts the slate for others. A similar postponement was made for the film “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” due to the pandemic and led to “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” being pushed back as well.
Walt Disney World is gradually reopening its theme parks on Friday after closing for two days as Hurricane Ian flattened homes and businesses across Florida.
Disney theme parks, including the Magic Kingdom, began opening their doors at 10 a.m. Epcot will reopen at 11 a.m., with Hollywood Studios set to reopen at noon and the Animal Kingdom theme park reopening at 1 p.m.
Guests staying at Disney hotels may access the theme parks before they reopen to the public, Disney said on its website. People whose park passes were valid for the days during which Disney was closed this week may use them through the end of the day on Friday.
Some Disney hotels, including the Copper Creek Cabins and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, remain closed due to weather concerns, Disney said.
Ian also shuttered many other Florida businesses and temporarily closed international airports in Tampa and Orlando. Preliminary estimates predicted the storm could cause up to $70 billion worth of damage in the state, which would rank it as one of the most destructive hurricanes in U.S. history.
Ian made landfall in southwestern Florida on Wednesday as a Category 4 hurricane before tearing across the state. On Friday, it was heading toward South Carolina, where the National Hurricane Center said it could bring “life-threatening storm surge” and hurricane conditions to the state’s coastal region.
But Ian may not be done with Florida. “Major to record river flooding will continue across central Florida through next week,” the hurricane center predicted.

The travel points membership service is helping timeshare owners generate revenue from their unused points with its 100%, money-back guaranteed programs.
Press Release –
Aug 24, 2022
WILDWOOD, Mo., August 24, 2022 (Newswire.com)
– Elite Member Perks, a travel points management service, has begun helping timeshare owners discover new ways to profit from their unused points. The service, which specializes in helping clients get value out of their property ownership, is now helping timeshare owners with everything from mortgage management to maintenance fee payment plans, all without putting their lines of credit or financial situations at risk.
In the post-pandemic era, online booking is the preferred method of travel, and vacation rentals are higher than ever. Those who purchase timeshares in the hopes of saving money and increasing their return on investment are often frustrated when the points that correspond to their allotted vacation time go unused at the end of a yearly cycle.
With Elite Member Perks, clients can enter into a lasting relationship with an expert team that will manage their points for them so that they may enjoy their vacations to the fullest. The Elite Member Perks team works to convert unused timeshare points into money in the form of reimbursement checks. When resorts refuse to buy timeshares back and the resale market fails to provide any value, the Elite Member Perks team can leverage its network to help clients receive reimbursement paychecks every quarter.
After recognizing the need to assist timeshare owners who were unable to take advantage of their ownership, principal owner Kyle Brown and his team set out to help individuals who were losing out on compensation from their unused points.
“We like to use the phrase ‘have peace of mind without losing a dime,’ when engaging with new clients,” said Brown. “Many timeshare owners fail to realize just how much compensation they are losing due to this issue. We work to educate our clients while simultaneously putting plans into action to reduce their losses and increase their revenue, all without ever putting their lines of credit at risk.”
Elite Member Perks primarily operates in Florida and Missouri. With physical office locations in both states, both teams have experienced tremendous growth in recent months. Both offices manage outreach and client services, and the Missouri office also oversees all reservations, customer service, onboarding, and payment processes.
Having just removed all sign-up fees from its programs, Elite Member Perks is looking to work with hundreds of new timeshare owners in the coming months. To learn more about Elite Member Perks’ programs, please visit https://www.elitememberperks.com.

These guests are at the forefront of “The New Gold Age,” the evening’s theme, which represents unparalleled API brilliance and defiance amidst continued violence and racism against the community. The theme was embodied in the modern Asian couture attire, which featured several custom outfits created specifically for the gala.
A100 A1 honorees Henry Golding, Simu Liu, Chloe Kim, Michelle Wu, and Payal Kadakia were recognized for being the most impactful individuals in their respective industries over the past year.
A major highlight of the Gold Gala was Mindy Kaling accepting the A100 Legend award for her lifelong dedication to creating and embodying affirming API characters and content. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan presented the award to her mentor in a heartfelt speech.
To round out the historic evening, A100 Legend Michelle Yeoh was the first-ever recipient of the SeeHer award at the Gold Gala for defying gender stereotypes throughout her career. SeeHer, the leading global movement of media, marketing and entertainment leaders committed to the accurate depiction of women and girls in advertising and media, presented the award along with filmmakers Jon M. #WriteHerRight AAPI: SeeHer and Gold House also announced a major partnership to develop a guide focused on the importance of increasing accurate portrayals of AAPI women and girls in advertising and entertainment. Gold House specially recognized Meta as a long-time supporter of advancing opportunity for all, and shared updates regarding their ongoing partnership to amplify, educate and grow influential voices across the Asian diaspora with a focus on unlocking economic opportunity. This included the launch of Meta’s SMB-focused channel — Meta Prosper — a new program to empower and uplift AAPI small businesses.
“We are proud to partner with Gold House on inspiring a new generation of API voices. It’s an honor to be a part of the inaugural Gold Gala and recognize some of the most influential change-makers in the community,” said Cat Coddington, Head of North American Gaming Creator Partnerships at Meta.

After the gala, guests stayed on for the afterparty, hosted in collaboration with Hennessy X.O, with a curated late-night bites menu from Panda Restaurant Group and custom boba drinks from Bopomofo Cafe.
Both the gala and the afterparty were held at the historic Vibiana in downtown Los Angeles. Accommodations for award recipients were provided by Hotel Indigo Los Angeles Downtown and exclusive rides by BMW. The gala partnered with We Can Do This to amplify their vaccine and booster resources, without which, an in-person event would have been impossible.
