  • One person killed, three others injured in southeast Denver shooting

    DENVER — One person has died and three others are injured following a shooting in southeast Denver Saturday night.

    The shooting happened in a parking lot of a shopping center located at South Galena Street and East Hampden Avenue around 11 p.m., according to the Denver Police Department.

    Officers arrived to the scene and located one injured person, who was transported to a local hospital.

    Officers and investigators with the Denver Police Department remained on scene Sunday morning.

    Officers later learned about three additional victims. One victim was transported by private vehicle to the area of East Iliff Avenue and South Havana Street, where they were pronounced dead, according to police.

    Two other victims were also taken to local hospitals by private vehicles.

    One victim is in critical condition, another is in serious condition and the third was treated for a graze wound and released, according to a police spokesperson.

    Police said their initial investigation found an argument took place following a large gathering in the parking lot. No suspect information has been released.

    Officers remained on scene Sunday morning to investigate. The shopping center is closed off to the public, according to Denver7’s Sophia Villalba.

    DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating a shooting in the city’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood that left one person dead early Saturday morning.

    It happened in the 18000 block of E. 50th Place.

    Police said officers arrived and located one victim who sustained a gunshot wound.

    The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to the hospital, where they were later pronounced deceased.

    No arrests have been made, and suspect information was not available.

    Two people arrested in connection with overnight shooting along I-25 in Denver

    DENVER — Two people were arrested in connection with a shooting along Interstate 25 in Denver overnight Friday.

    The shooting happened around 3:12 a.m. Friday along southbound I-25 south of Colorado Boulevard.

    According to the Denver Police Department, two men were traveling in a vehicle when they were shot. The two eventually stopped on the shoulder of the highway near Belleview Avenue.

    The men were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, according to Denver PD.

    The department said investigators are still working to determine the circumstances that preceded the shooting.

    Officers arrested Burr Charlesworth, 42, and Luis Mendoza, 35, for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault.

    Denver PD said there may be additional suspects. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7847.

    7 wounded in weekend shootings and a stabbing in Denver

    DENVER — It was a violent weekend in the city of Denver after seven people were wounded in three separate shootings and one stabbing incident.

    The first incident was reported on the Denver Police Department’s X feed at 4:37 a.m. Saturday. Police said one person was shot and wounded in the 3100 block of N. Downing Street.

    The victim in the Downing Street shooting was transported to the hospital with unknown extent of injuries. No arrests were made, and police said officers are working to develop suspect information.

    Around 11 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the 3300 block of N. York Street on report of a double shooting. Two people were shot and transported to the hospital. Their conditions are not known. Police have not reported any arrests in the case.

    About three hours later, a third shooting occurred early Sunday morning in the 2300 block of Champa Street. One person was shot and wounded. Police later reported a suspect, identified as Jerry Jones, was arrested and is facing an attempted murder charge.

    The fourth incident was reported at 4:37 a.m. Sunday and involved a stabbing in the 3900 block of N. Pecos Street. Three people were taken to the hospital with what police said appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. Police are working to develop suspect information in the case.

    Man wounded in possible road rage shooting on I-25 in Denver

    DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating a possible road rage shooting on Interstate 25 that left a man wounded Saturday morning.

    Police reported the shooting in an X post at 11:35 a.m., stating that one victim was transported to the hospital with an unknown extent of injuries after a shooting in the northbound lanes near the Auraria Parkway exit.

    Police later said the man is expected to survive his injuries.

    No arrests have been made. However, police said, “All involved parties have been contacted, and the investigation is ongoing.”

    Police closed lanes 1 and 2 of northbound I-25, but they have since reopened.

    No other details were released.

    Security guard at Denver apartment complex shoots man during altercation

    DENVER — A security guard at an apartment complex shot and wounded a man during an altercation at the complex early Saturday morning, according to the Denver Police Department.

    Police said the man, identified as 34-year-old Yousif Ibrahim, was trespassing on the property of the Cortland Alameda Station apartments, 415 S. Cherokee Street, when he was approached by a security guard around 2:30 a.m.

    At some point during the confrontation, an altercation broke out and Ibrahim was able to take the security guard’s taser and attempted to use the taser against the security guard, according to Jay Casillas with the Denver Police Department.

    Casillas said that is when the security guard drew his firearm and shot Ibrahim. He is expected to survive.

    The suspect is being held for investigation of second-degree assault, Casillas said.

    No other details were released as the investigation is still ongoing.

    Police investigate double shooting in southwest Denver

    DENVER — Police in Denver are investigating a double shooting in the southwest area of the city Sunday afternoon.

    Police said two victims were located in the 8500 block of West Bellview Avenue after officers arrived on scene around 1:45 p.m. Their conditions are not known.

    Police have taped off an area behind a shopping complex on South Dudley Street.

    No arrests have been reported and suspect information was not available.
