Welcome to Your Fall Denim Download: 5 Trends Defining the Season

    [ad_1]

Fall is coming in hot and so are the new fall denim trends that will have a hold on the season to come. While jeans are 100% the mainstays in our closets, they’re certainly not immune to the ebb and flow of the trend cycle. Personally, I don’t buy new jeans every single season—my shopping cadence tends to be lean more yearly—but I always like to keep up-to-date on what the key silhouettes of the season are so I can either pull something out of my closet that aligns with them or perhaps dabble in a new style if I’m so inspired.

This season, there’s five new trends that we think you should be aware of. We saw these coming down the runway in the fall ’23 collections but seeing them on Instagram and in the new arrivals sections has only solidified their importance. The big themes to know? Jeans are getting longer and baggier, waistlines are dipping lower, and the proclivity towards the early aughts is only growing stronger. With that, continue on to discover the details of each silhouette, where it appeared in the fall collections and our favorite shopping picks.

  • Heidi Klum’s Ripped Jeans Are Basically Falling Apart at the Seams

Heidi Klum’s Ripped Jeans Are Basically Falling Apart at the Seams

    [ad_1]

Many celebrities have tried the Y2K fashion trend, and Heidi Klum’s latest look might be the most effortless approach we’ve seen. On July 20, the German-American model took to Instagram to show us a glimpse of her casual style as she sat in admiration of her husband, Tom Kaulitz, while he rehearsed with his band Tokio Hotel in Berlin. For the laid-back occasion, Klum opted for the most practical summer ensemble, including a white tank top, a pair of Birkenstocks to match, and the pièce de résistance of the look — light-blue acid-wash jeans. “Fan Girl 🤗❤️ @tokiohotel REHEARSALS BERLIN 🇩🇪,” she captioned the post. She also sported a face free of makeup, a playful chartreuse bracelet, and cherry-red nails.

The 50-year-old’s outfit is a soft departure from her recent swimsuit marathon. During a romantic Italian getaway, Klum showed off her impressive swimwear collection that featured mostly thongkinis, including a black and white leopard-print bikini she wore for a boat day and a triangle cherry-print thongkini for a quiet beach day. Her other summer ensembles include a crochet pink and white bikini; a patriotic crochet bikini; a Versace logo bikini; and a classic black triangle bikini. The “America’s Got Talent” judge even took the cheeky trend to unconventional heights, going topless in a strappy micro bottom for a romantic photo shoot in Cannes last month.

Besides her affinity for bikinis, Klum has served other noteworthy fashion moments. Most recently, she switched up her vacation wardrobe with a bold Mona Lisa cutout minidress from Jean Paul Gaultier and a half-bikini, half-couture gown for the designer’s show during Paris Haute Couture Week earlier this month. The mom of three also commanded the 2023 Cannes Film Festival red carpet in a yellow Zuhair Murad gown with extreme cutouts that further played into her alluring style.

Scroll up to click through Klum’s recent post featuring the distressed acid-wash jeans.

  • Kim Cattrall’s Jeans-and-Flats Outfit Works Whether You’re in Your 20s or 60s

    Kim Cattrall’s Jeans-and-Flats Outfit Works Whether You’re in Your 20s or 60s

    [ad_1]

Are you keeping up with Kim Cattrell? The Sex and the City star has landed back on the NYC street style radar following news of her guest role in the iconic HBO show’s spinoff sequel, And Just Like That…

Recently, Cattrell was spotted in Manhattan toting her recognizable Santorini blue Gladstn London bag, which she paired with cuffed jeans, a light blue button-down, and white penny loafers. Could this be what Samantha Jones dresses like when off-duty? Probably not—but that doesn’t mean this easy weekend look isn’t worth stealing straight from Cattrall.

Ahead, shop similar lightweight shirts, jeans, bags, loafers, sunglasses, and belts so you can reassemble this summery outfit at home. We’ll be sticking to the blue palette shown below, but if you’re feeling bold, try experimenting with Barbie pink, Samantha’s signature red, or even earth tones. As long as the pieces stay within the same color family, it’s a pretty easy outfit formula that can be mixed and matched time and time again…just like that.

These Are the 6 Biggest Summer 2023 Denim Trends, Period

    [ad_1]

We’ve been reporting on many of the rising denim trends in the realm of jeans throughout 2023, but for summer the most talked-about trends go far beyond jean silhouettes. Overall in recent jean outfits, looser, wide-leg shapes are still winning out as are classic straight-leg styles, and white jeans are a standout color that have been on the rise long before the arrival of summer. The biggest denim trends of the season, however, mostly revolve around non-jean pieces and more unexpected styles.

One of the most viral pieces on the internet recently? Chanel’s denim ballerina flats that are practically sold out everywhere but point to a larger movement of denim accessories. Among them, ballet flats and bags that lend a more casual take on polished silhouettes. Outside of jeans, denim maxi skirts and bralettes are other pieces incorporating denim that are hot ticket items this season. Ahead, see the biggest summer denim trends of 2023 and shop the edit.

I Live in NYC and Love Denim—These Styles Are the Coolest Right Now

As a New Yorker that’s lived in the city for decades, Elaine Davis (the digital creator behind @squarepearls) has perfectly mastered a style that’s chic and easy for that busy life on the go. One of the effortless fashion categories that she considers a staple to complete her most-loved outfits? Denim

“Denim is currently having a moment in the fashion world, but for me denim has always been the moment. It’s the glue that holds my wardrobe together. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it. • What I’d Pick From Nordstrom If I Could Only Wear 5 Pieces for an Entire Year

What I’d Pick From Nordstrom If I Could Only Wear 5 Pieces for an Entire Year

    [ad_1]

When I find myself wanting to pare down my wardrobe I often ask myself: If I could only wear 5 pieces for an entire year, what would they be? This helps me tremendously to refocus my shopping habits and streamline my current collection. It’s by no means easy to narrow it down so drastically but it really puts things into perspective. For the sake of this exercise (and my sanity), it only pertains to core day-to-day clothing—not shoes, outerwear, pajamas, workout clothes, bags, and other accessories.

I recently revisited the question and came up with a great set of wardrobe essentials that I wouldn’t mind wearing over and over again. So not quite uniform dressing but more of a mini capsule collection of sorts. The pieces would need to withstand the fast-moving trend cycles as well. To put together this cohesive edit, I headed over to Nordstrom, which is home to endless elevated basics. Then, to best help visualize this selection, I turned to looks that feature these classic-cool pieces from one of my favorite style muses, Alexis Foreman. Keep scrolling to see my top 5 picks and to shop options for each.

  • Keke Palmer Elevates the Canadian Tuxedo With Her Stylish, All-Denim Outfit

Keke Palmer Elevates the Canadian Tuxedo With Her Stylish, All-Denim Outfit

    [ad_1]

Keke Palmer put her own spin on the Canadian tuxedo in her June 30 TikTok. The “Nope” star paired a denim shirt that was open at the chest with a pair of formfitting jeans to create an elevated take on the classic denim-on-denim look. Add in her wavy hair and light pink eyeshadow, and the end result was an outfit that managed to be both dramatic and simple.

The actor’s stunning outfit was made even cooler by the dance moves she showed off in her TikTok. Palmer danced and lip-synched to Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” remix from the upcoming “Barbie” movie. Midway through her performance, she picked up her son, Leodis Andrellton Jackson, whom she shares with Darius Jackson, and walked toward a backdoor entrance. At the last minute, she turned and mouthed the line, “It’s Barbie, b*tch, if you’re still in doubt.” She captioned her video, “My son told me to stay on yall neck! See you at Broccoli Fest.”

Palmer shared a closer look at her outfit on her Instagram. In a carousel, she revealed a closeup look of her perfectly put-together look, as well as details on the designer. Per her caption, both her top and jeans are from Maison Alaïa. “Draped in @maisonalaia but she swear she not a liar,” she captioned her post.

While Maison Alaïa clothes tend to be pricey, Palmer’s look is easy to re-create on a budget. Jean shirts are easy to find at places like the Gap and Old Navy. If you want to copy the actor’s version of the Canadian tuxedo, simply pair your favorite jeans with a matching denim top. To really make the outfit pop, go for a fitted look and accessorize with a subtle pop of color, like Palmer did with her multicolored manicure.

The Best Baggy Jeans From Zara, Amazon, Mango, and More

    [ad_1]

At this point, the demise of skinny jeans and the rise of baggy pants have been well documented, so we probably don’t need to go into that, but if you find yourself armed with a closet full of skinny jeans and ready for a change (at least a temporary one), we can certainly help with that

We’re living in a day and age when people just want to be comfortable, and if that means wearing loose jeans that may have once been seen as sloppy, then so be it. But baggy jeans are such a trend right now that they somehow don’t even come across as sloppy—they just come across as cool.

So if we’ve got you in the mood to shop for some new baggy jeans, let’s do so. Keep scrolling for the very best options for $180 or less (and yes, H&M, Mango, Zara, and Amazon are all present and accounted for).

If You Think Low-Rise Jeans Are Scary, These 9 Outfits Prove Otherwise

    [ad_1]

As someone who has practically lived in high-rise jeans for the past seven years or so, trust me when I tell you that I was skeptical when low-rise jeans started becoming a thing again. But now, many months later, here I am encouraging you to try them because they’re cool. Still don’t believe me? I spent the better part of an hour scrolling through only the chicest girls’ Instagram feeds to prove it.

Below, you’ll find nice outfits that show just how wearable the once-scary denim trend can be. The easiest-to-wear version is slouchy, baggy low-rise jeans. You might also be interested to know that very few of these outfits show any midriff, and when they do, it’s just a sliver.

I, for one, am fully convinced I should try the low-rise look, and I even recently purchased this perfect pair of Reformation jeans. Scroll on to see the looks I’d wear them with, all of which are interchangeable between low-rise jeans and pants. Good luck. Jennifer Lopez Wore a Surprisingly Risqué Maxi Dress With Sleek Knee-High Boots

    [ad_1]

Certain clothing items are known to be risqué, though a long-sleeve maxi shirt dress isn’t exactly one of them. Micro-miniskirts, hot pants, sheer dresses, and deep V-neck tops, sure. But a nearly floor-length frock? And yet, if anyone can make a seemingly conservative garment seem NSFW, it’s Jennifer Lopez. The actress and singer has a knack for transforming any garment into a showstopper simply by wearing it.

Lopez was spotted shopping for furniture in West Hollywood on Tuesday wearing a denim Valentino dress with Chloé aviators, a Gucci shoulder bag, and knee-high boots. But what made the outfit so noteworthy and bold was that her choice of footwear could only be seen through the waist-high slits on the dress. Daring? Yes. Worth copying? Absolutely. Get started by checking out J.Lo’s look and shopping for more casual maxi dresses below.

8 Outfits That Prove High-Waisted Jeans Are Eternally Chic

    [ad_1]

When it comes to denim jeans, the choices are endless. From low-rise styles to wide-leg silhouettes, you can customize your jeans like your morning latte. But I firmly believe nothing trumps high-waisted jeans. There’s an effortless and sophisticated air about them that doesn’t translate as easily with other styles, hence why I’ve become so enamored with them. That said, knowing which outfit combinations work best with high-waisted jeans is essential. You’ll want to focus on proportion and pair them with pieces that compliment the high waist, like cropped shirts or tops that are simple to tuck in. Adding a belt or coat is another way to play up the silhouettes that can create an even more interesting sartorial take.

To get your styling juices flowing, we’ve selected some of our favorite high-waisted jeans outfits worn by some of the most fashionable people on the Internet. Their outfits are so good it won’t be long before they become your go-to outfit formula. Scroll below to see and shop them all.

It’s hard to remember a time where I wasn’t a fan of jeans in a lighter wash. I’ve always found them easy to mix with either bright colors or neutrals, giving a variety of outfit options fitting to the look I was going for, something I never quite got from darker wash denim. While jeans are a classic item and different shades are constantly being worn, it’s no secret that more fashion folk have been bringing out their lighter styles with a majority of their outfits, and I’m 100% on board with it. It gives a cool and laid-back twist to any ensemble, and who doesn’t want that?

You’re Done: 5 Jeans I’m Parting Ways With and 5 Comfy Pairs I’m Holding Onto

    [ad_1]

Does anyone else feel personally victimized by rigid jeans? After consistently reaching for more comfortable bottoms like relaxed trousers, leggings, or ribbed pants in lieu of jeans for more weeks than I care to admit, the thought of putting on a pair of heavy rigid denim sends shivers down my spine. Will I be able to go a full day without wanting to tear them off? Will my jeans even fit like they used to? These are the anxieties circulating in my mind as I look over at my well-curated denim stack which has sat idly in my closet recently.

Nonetheless, I don’t think I could live without jeans, and although it will take me a bit to get used to wearing 100% cotton denim again, I think I’ve found the pairs to help ease me back into wearing jeans more frequently again. I’ve finally found the time to sort through my denim pile and figure out which ones aren’t serving me currently and which ones I’ll be wearing all 2023. Relaxed styles like barrel jeans wide-leg options are the most appealing right now, as are any jeans with a significant amount of stretch in them.

Since I’m confident that I’m not alone in this search for comfortable yet stylish jeans to help bridge the gap back, I went ahead and not only shared my current favorites, but the most comfortable pairs online with the best reviews. If you relate, keep scrolling to see and shop them all.
