The topic of women’s jeans is a divisive one; everyone’s favourite shape differs. But if 2025 has taught me anything thus far, it’s that the best barrel leg jeans have us united. Not a single one of my fashion editor friends or colleagues dislikes them – and I can’t blame them, considering the wide leg pairs need little styling to look elevated thanks to the voluminous leg shape.
So when did the love for this fresh denim shape begin? It all started in AW23 when Alaïa made a pair the focal point of their entire runway. The barrel-leg trend took flight, and fashion hasn’t looked back since – nope, not even for classic high waist straight-leg or mom jeans.
With Agolde and Citizens of Humanity leading the way, multiple brands have seen huge success from their balloon-shape denim, so you best believe they’re the silhouette to shop throughout the rest of 2025. And it’s not just specialist brands who have tapped into the denim trend, there’s so many best-selling pairs in the ‘new in’ sections all over the high street right now, too – with everyone from Cos and Arket to Free People and Nobody’s Child having iterations to choose from.
While some of you will be welcoming the news of the skinny jeans’ return – you’ve no doubt seen the return of Topshop’s iconic Joni jeans after its runway return this month – but I, for one, am dreading it. So much so, that I’ve set my sights on their antithesis. I want to be wearing capacious barrel leg jeans that look just as chic with a cardigan and loafers, as they do with kitten heels and a blouse.
I’m not the only one, either. Google searches for ‘barrel jeans’ are up by around 41% since this time last year, and the street style set is into it too. Bella Hadid and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, prove this pair of wide leg jeans is the off-duty model failsafe, whilst Katie Holmes has shown this year that the trend transcends seasons.

Keep wearing mid wash blue balloon jeans (or lemon, like this fun ASOS Design pair) throughout the warmer months, and come autumn/winter, simply switch to dark denim colourways. I’ve already saved the extra baggy wide leg Citizens of Humanity black pair.
According to social media, I’m not the only one who has a crush on them either – with fashion insiders showing how to style barrel leg jeans by the LA brand with everything from oversized blazers to lightweight knitwear and floaty GANNI tops. Basically, they look great with practically any top, which is why they’re the go-to for so many stylists, editors and fashion people.
What is another name for barrel leg jeans?
Barrel leg jeans have a few different names – it just depends on which brand you’re shopping from. Citizens of Humanity call them ‘horseshoe jeans’, with this super wide-leg pair by Citizen of Humanity being our faves, whilst you might also see them named ‘balloon jeans’, or referred to as ‘tapered’ like Agolde’s Luna high-rise jeans.
There’s a new striped version of this sell-out Damson Madder pair (keep scrolling to shop) or check Vinted for this bow print style.

Slightly equestrian and adhering to the current cowboy movement, the best barrel-leg jeans are far more wearable than you’d likely first imagine. Try them over a pair of kitten heels or ballet pumps to balance out the oversized barrel silhouette with a delicate and feminine contrast, and opt for something more fitting on top. With that being said, though, I equally like the look of a fully voluminous outfit by opting for a bomber leather jacket, just how GLAMOUR’s senior european commerce editor Sophie Cockett has styled her Aligne white Tommy pair (above) for a transeasonal look that’ll never fail.
Now you’ve got some barrel leg outfit inspiration, here are the best pairs to suit all budgets.

Good American is known for its innovative material, B-corp certified production, and inclusivity when it comes to sizing. To be frank, I wish every denim brand looked a lot more like this one. And when I heard the label was re-launching its bestselling Soft-Tech jeans for fall, I knew PS editors had to be among the first to test out the new selection. GA introduced some of its signature silhouettes, like the Good Waist Palazzo Jeans, Good Curve Bootcut, and Good Petite, in this curve-hugging fabric that’s honestly pretty game-changing (not to give everything away right here on the spot).
What’s so great about the Soft-Tech denim? It’s one of the most sustainable fibers on the market, according to the brand, blending a lightweight, silk feel and TENCEL™ to create a flexible and soft jean that magically lifts and flatters in all the right places. In other words, it provides a surprising amount of structure for feeling like a pair of leggings when you pull them on.
PS editors are well-versed in product testing, and we’ve tried some of the most renowned denim brands on the market — from Madewell to Levi’s to Gap — so we took a very meticulous approach to delivering our reviews. Ahead, you can see photos of us modeling four different styles; read about our experiences not just wearing, but washing these jeans; and choose the pair that’s right for you if you’re down to invest. Sorry for yet another spoiler, but I highly doubt you’ll regret it.

Shopping for jeans can involve a lot of trial and error, especially when you’re experimenting with a new silhouette. If you’ve been tempted to try the polarizing yet inescapable trend of barrel leg jeans, you’re not alone. As a shopping editor, I’ve been obsessively seeking the perfect pair — one that boasts a subtle, flattering shape; feels fresh, but classic enough to have a smidge of longevity. As a Madewell denim fan (the brand’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans are my favorite), I was thrilled to see that the label released its own interpretation of a barrel leg cut. Madewell’s Darted Barrel Leg Jeans ($148) are the pair I landed on and have been wearing non-stop.
What I Love About Madewell’s Darted Barrel Leg Jeans
These jeans have a fitted waist, bow out around the middle of the leg, and have a tapered ankle. While there’s enough mid-leg volume to capture the barrel leg look, it isn’t as exaggerated as Free People’s version, or a lot of others on the market. To help emphasize the curved leg shape, this pair has darts at the knees to create a sort of optical illusion, instead of tacking on more volume. The result is subtle and surprisingly flattering.
These jeans don’t have any stretch, but they’re ridiculously comfortable. They sit low at the waist and sort of dangle — the legs are structured but not stiff. I love that they feel like a baggy pair of jeans but have enough structure to still look polished. They also have a cropped ankle, so they don’t overwhelm my frame, and look great with everything from ballet flats to sneakers.
What’s Worth Noting About Madewell’s Darted Barrel Leg Jeans
These jeans are definitely oversize, so finding the right size can be tricky. I would suggest going one or two sizes down from your normal size. I’m usually a size 28 in Madewell jeans and am wearing a size 27, but I think I could have gotten away with a size 26 since they sit low on the waist. They also have a button fly instead of a zip fly, which is a bit of a pain when putting them on and taking them off.
Who Are Madewell’s Darted Barrel Leg Jeans Best For?
These jeans are perfect for anyone looking to test the barrel leg jean waters. If you’re ambivalent about the cut, these are a great entryway pair to experimenting with the trend. Since the cut is fairly subtle, they also feel a bit more classic than more exaggerated silhouettes.

Third time’s the charm for Wrangler and Staud, as the two brands link up for another sure-to-be-hit collection.
Even with so many other fall denim collaborations popping up, this one stands out: The latest Wrangler x Staud capsule features bestsellers — including the fan-favorite Biggest Jean Jacket — with a twist (now in reversible shearling!), plus brand-new styles (including a cropped denim zip jacket, boasting a statement shearling collar) and fresh colorways for the cooler months (true blue, brown, green, black, and cream).
For jeans, there are (excitingly!) three new silhouettes: a cropped bootcut, a slim straight fit, and a dramatic flare. (Since wide-leg jeans are having a moment this fall, don’t be afraid to go bold with denim choice.) More on-trend additions include corset-inspired denim vests and split-hem denim maxi skirts. All the pieces can be mixed and matched easily, which takes the guesswork out of denim-on-denim styling for fall.
The nine-piece collection ranges between $165 and $395, and is available to shop at Wrangler.com and Staud.clothing, as well as in select Nordstrom stores.
Whether you choose to pair a cream denim jacket with matching flare jeans, a black denim vest with a green maxi skirt, or any Wrangler x Staud denim style with existing pieces in your fall wardrobe, the possibilities are endless. Partake in the Western fashion trend, or mix and match to your heart’s desire — just make sure to cart up your favorite pieces ASAP.

I’m a sucker for wide-leg pants. I have superbaggy ’90s-era jeans that puddle at the heels, a cropped wide-leg pair in neon-hued cotton, wide-leg cargo pants with drawstrings at the hem, and the list goes on. The only thing missing in my collection was classic wide-leg denim. When I saw Madewell’s Emmett patch-pocket wide-leg jeans ($138), I was crossing my fingers they’d be a match. The darker wash, high-waisted cut, cute patch pockets, and subtle wide-leg was exactly what I was looking for. I grabbed them in my usual size and hoped for the best.
What I Love About Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans
The material is mostly cotton with a smidge of recycled polyester and elastane, so they feel especially soft and stretchy. The top of the jeans hit just above my belly button and almost feel like shapewear. As a mom of two, I prefer high-waisted jeans that offer plenty of belly support without feeling like I’m counting down the minutes until I can unbutton them. They mold to my curves and I can squat, bend over, and run around all day without the dreaded droopiness that sometimes happens towards the end of the day.
The style comes in a light wash, a darker wash, and a slightly faded black. I chose the darker wash (aka the Allentown Wash), and I’m really happy with it. It’s incredibly flattering and not too saturated. The pants have subtle distressing that mimics the look of a beloved pair of vintage jeans. With the high waist, patch pockets, and body-hugging material, they even remind me of some of the jeans my mom wore in the ’70s, only with a straighter, more narrow leg.

What’s Worth Noting About Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans
While the soft, stretchy material and waist support offer a curve-hugging fit, they also feel tighter in the crotch compared to some of the looser cuts I have. It’s not visually detectable (no camel toe to report), but I noticed the feeling as soon as I pulled them on. That said, it bothered me less the longer I wore them. The closest thing I can compare it to is the way the first few minutes of wearing an underwire bra feel before you forget you’re even wearing one an hour later. As far as the style goes, it’s the slimmest wide-leg jean I’ve ever tried on, which I think makes it more classic and versatile.
Who Are Madewell’s Emmett Patch-Pocket Wide-Leg Jeans Best For?
These jeans feel sexy and casual; vintage-inspired yet classic all at the same time. They’re great for anyone who might just be dipping their toe into the wide-leg waters. In other words, if you’re drawn to wide-leg silhouettes but aren’t sure you want to invest in such a trendy style, this pair really does feel timeless.

Almost all of my favorite outfits feature a pair of jeans. Because of this, it’s no surprise that I have quite the collection: high-rise, low-rise, blue, black — you name it. However, it wasn’t until recently that I discovered the joy of elastic-waist jeans, and now I can’t stop raving about them to anyone who’ll listen. Enter the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans ($80), which combine the classic non-stretch denim feel with a sweatpants-like waistband. When I came across them for the first time, I assumed they were too good to be true (too soft!? too baggy!?) but I added them to my virtual shopping cart on a whim, and they exceeded my expectations in every way. Keep reading for my thorough review.
What I Love About the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans
What I love about these Gap jeans is how they look and feel. They feature a loose wide leg and non-stretch fabric that feels expensive and high quality. The elastic waist stays comfortable all day, and the cargo pockets add a trendy touch that I’m confident I won’t regret a year from now (unlike some other trends I’ve adopted in the past). I love teaming them with a basic tank top and accessories. Here, I’m wearing the super thick Gap Compact Jersey Brami ($24, originally $35) that makes it possible to go braless, styled with the Gap Vegan Leather Platform Flip Flops ($45) and Gap Vegan Leather Sling Bag ($24, originally $50). (I’ve honestly worn this combination more times that I’d like to admit.)
I’m also a big fan of where these jeans land on my waist, which is a bit lower than what I’d deem “high-rise,” as they’re described.
What’s Worth Noting About the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans
First, I think these jeans are more accurately described as mid-rise, not high-rise, because they sit between my hips and belly button. Other shoppers seem to agree, as several reviews on Gap’s website have mentioned this as well. However, I was delightfully surprised by the cut; it feels fresh and modern to embrace styles beyond the high-rise trend.
Another thing to note about the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans is that they run big. I usually wear a medium, but I sized down to a small and still achieved that perfect baggy fit. So definitely consider going down a size. While there aren’t many complaints, some shoppers did find them too roomy. As one reviewer noted, “I really want to like these jeans however they run about 2 sizes bigger.”
Who Are the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans Best For?
The Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans are perfect for those who prioritize both comfort and style when shopping for pants. They’re designed for those who love the feel of thick, non-stretch denim but occasionally prefer a gentler waistband.
Where Are the Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans Available?
The Gap High Rise Utility Easy Jeans are available exclusively at Gap. You can purchase them on the brand’s website and at select in-store locations.

They also come in extended tall and petite sizes.
They’re machine-washable for easy care.

Few fashion brands are as synonymous with denim as Gap. The timeless American brand is a go-to destination for all things denim, including jackets, skirts, and, of course, jeans. Gap’s lineup always features classics like high-waisted, bootcut, and straight-leg styles in staple neutrals like black, gray, white, and classic blue. But every now and then, Gap also surprises us with trend-inspired designs and even nostalgic finds. Think flared styles reminiscent of the ’70s, mom jeans of the ’80s, and low-rise, baggy styles from the ’90s.
Whether you’re new to Gap jeans or a longtime fan looking to expand your collection, we’ve rounded up the 10 best pairs worth adding to your wardrobe. Our selection includes a mix of classic styles and trend-inspired options, with prices starting at under $50. You’ll find endless ways to style them, whether with a basic T-shirt and sneakers or dressed up with designer heels and a going-out top. So, what are you waiting for? The ’90s look is totally back, and if you are a fan of this era, you’re going to love the popular ‘90s girl aesthetic.
A couple weeks back, we discussed the ’80s girl aesthetic, characterized by maximalism, bright colors, and plenty of power suits.
Today, we’re heading to the ’90s, when we first fell in love with grunge, oversized everything, and plaid galore. It’s such a fun decade to discuss because the styles varied a lot, and so many ’90s pieces are still trending today.
So, if you are interested in adding some vintage cool girl vibes to your wardrobe, read on for everything you need to know about the ’90s girl aesthetic that’s trending RN.
Essential Fashion Trends from the ’90s
Oversized Clothing
If you want to rock the ’90s girl aesthetic, start by embracing oversized clothing!
Oversized clothing can mean oversized sweatshirts, baggy t-shirts, oversized jackets, baggy pants, or all of these in one look.
In the ’90s, these items were often balanced by tighter pieces. For instance, Princess Diana loved to pair oversized sweatshirts with biker shorts. Baby tees and baggy jeans also make a cute and popular combo.
Whether you opt for an oversized flannel to channel your inner Kurt Cobain or a preppy plaid blazer for your inner Cher Horowitz, leaning into plaid is a key way to achieve the ’90s girl aesthetic.
Denim
Another huge trend in the ’90s was denim everything!
In the ’90s, denim-on-denim outfits were popular (see Drew Barrymore, above). But denim was of course worn as separates, too.
For instance, baggy jeans, denim shorts, and cute little cropped jean jackets all trended during the decade.
So, if you are a fan of denim, the ’90s girl aesthetic is totally for you.
’90s Girl Aesthetic Outfit Ideas
Cropped Tee
The cropped tees we all love now were just as popular back in the ’90s.
So, if you have a trendy cropped tee you love, you’re on your way to creating a ’90s girl aesthetic look.
For example, pair your cropped tee with wide-leg jeans and chunky boots for a super cute and casual look that you could wear for errands or going out with friends.
Also, you can dress this look up by adding fun accessories like ’90s sunglasses and big hoops.
Striped Shirts
’90s girls loved their patterned pieces. Specifically, striped shirts were very popular during this time.
So, if you have a favorite striped shirt or even a striped cropped tee, use it to create this ’90s girl aesthetic outfit with some jeans and cute sneakers.
In particular, baggy cargo jeans and dad sneakers are perfect for the ’90s vibe.
Tie Dye
Tie-dye was also super popular in the ’90s and you can incorporate the pattern into your modern looks for a hint of ’90s girl.
To do this, start with an oversized tie-dye sweatshirt like this adorable red and pink one to give you the oversized clothing trend of the ’90s while also incorporating tie-dye.
To complete this look, add a cute pleated skirt (also reminiscent of the ’90s), as well as some sneakers or heels if you want the look to seem a bit fancier!
Don’t forget a mini bag to finish the outfit.
Overalls
If you’re loving this season’s overalls trend, great news: It fits perfectly into the ’90s girl aesthetic. Overalls were super popular during the 1990s.
For a perfect ’90s girl aesthetic look, pair some overall shorts with a cute little graphic tee.
Finish with ankle socks and simple white sneakers for a throwback feel.
Baggy Jeans
As mentioned earlier, baggy jeans are another great ’90s clothing item, and they’re trending again this year.
To get a ’90s girl vibe, style your baggy jeans as you normally would — with a cropped tee and some beat-up sneakers, then add ’90s accessories like hoops and a plaid shacket.
Slip Dresses
If you are looking for something a bit fancier that has a ’90s girl feel, I recommend adding a slip dress to your wardrobe.
Slip dresses were popular in the ’90s for special occasions. A slip dress is usually made out of silk or satin and has a lingerie-inspired vibe.
If you want something super cute and girly for a night out, grab a pastel-colored slip dress like this and pair it with your favorite strappy heels.
Flannel Shirts
As we all know, flannel shirts are practically synonymous with ’90s fashion.
What’s great about flannel shirts is that they can be thrown over any look for warmth, comfort, and style points.
So, if you’re testing out the ’90s girl aesthetic, a flannel should be one of your first investments.
Just pair a flannel shirt like this one with some ’90s-inspired jean shorts, a cropped tee, and Sambas to get the ultimate ’90s girl aesthetic look.
Leopard Print
Leopard print was also another popular pattern during the ’90s. (Think Fran Fine in The Nanny for inspo!)
So, if you are a fan of animal print, definitely add leopard print to your wardrobe for a ’90s girl vibe, such as with this leopard print jacket.
With this jacket, you can totally create a ’90s girl aesthetic look by pairing it with a black top, pants, and boots! Fran herself would be proud.
Denim Outfits
Of course, we can’t forget about the denim trend of the ’90s!
Denim jackets were huge during the decade (both literally and figuratively), so a great way to channel the ’90s in your own looks is to invest in an oversized jean jacket like this one.
You can pair this jacket with basically any outfit for a ’90s girl aesthetic look.
For example, it looks amazing above with a cute black dress, some Adidas sneakers, and fun accessories like a nylon bag and ’90s sunglasses.
Plaid Skirts
Plaid skirts will forever be associated with Cher from Clueless, so if you are dying to recreate her ’90s fashion vibe (us, too), start with a pleated plaid skirt like this one.
You can pair this mini skirt with a cropped tee or shirt and some boots or even heels and knee-highs a la Cher to complete the look.
In this outfit, you will feel like the ultimate ’90s it girl!
Shoes
Dad Sneakers
Another one of my favorite ’90s trends is definitely the dad sneaker. And the ultimate dad shoe will forever be the classic New Balance 530.
Not only is this the perfect shoe to give you a casual ’90s girl look, but it will go with basically any outfit! And that’s not even to mention the comfort factor.
Boots
Dr. Martens boots were also popular in the ’90s, thanks in part to the grunge movement.
So if you like edgy looks or grunge styles in general, you need a pair of Docs on hand.
What I love about Dr. Martens is you can pair them with jeans or even a dress to create a super cute ’90s-inspired look. Plus they’re great for all weather conditions.
How to Add the ’90s Girl Aesthetic into a Modern Wardrobe
Adding Vintage Pieces to Modern Looks
An easy way to get the ’90s girl aesthetic is by thrifting pieces to add to your looks!
By thrifting, you will be able to add some authentic ’90s clothing to your wardrobe while also staying on a small budget.
Also, you can totally mix and match these vintage pieces with more modern items to get the ’90s girl aesthetic!
Add Your Unique Style
Finally, I encourage you to add your own unique style to your favorite ’90s trends.
For instance, take your favorite ’90s staples like baggy jeans or a flannel shirt and add something cool like a statement bag or trendy shoes in your favorite color.
For more on this, watch the video above to learn how to add your own personal style to your ’90s girl looks!
What ’90s-inspired looks will you be adding to your wardrobe?
What are your favorite pieces from the ’90s? What ’90s pieces do you already have in your closet?
Now onto a true closet staple: blue jeans. Holmes wore Banana Republic’s $150 wide-leg trouser jeans in a dark wash, a polished look that we’ve seen across recent spring runways such as Staud, Valentino, Self-Portrait, Coperni, and Dries Van Noten. And, trust us, the wide-leg style isn’t going anywhere. Kate Bellman, editorial and content director at Nordstrom, previously told Refinery29: “As we’re seeing the pendulum swing away from decades of the skinny jean, naturally wide legs emerge as a key silhouette.”
The brand also offers this exact style in a lighter spring-appropriate wash (see below) as well as similar flared jeans that are just too good to pass up on, especially at their price points.
“Let’s go shopping for plus size jeans,” is a statement which used to give me absolute nightmares. Being a plus-size girlie with a small waist and much larger hip, finding jeans to actually fit and not leave that huge gap above my bum (that even a belt can’t hold together) isn’t the easiest task at hand.
Usually, I like to go for skinny jean with a lot of stretch so it can mould to my curves (something like Good American’s Good Curve Light Compression style that I’m wearing below), but to be totally transparent, that was also the only real jean style that I could fit to fit my shape during most of my teens.
Sometimes I wanted that tighter skinny fit with a bodysuit underneath, but sometimes I just wanted a casual baggy jean with an oversized white shirt. I used to think that feeling confident in jeans meant that it had to be a style that was sculpted to my silhouette, but now I know it’s whatever you feel comfortable in.
Fast forward to 2024 and I’m so happy that I’ve been able to find so many different cuts and shapes of denim for our plus-size bodies. We’ve had designers such as Karoline Vitto work with denim in her Dolce and Gabbana collaboration collection last September in Milan (in an incredible curve-inclusive show), and most recently we’ve seen Sinead O’Dwyer using denim on the runway in London this past season with oversize fits, raw hems and that 90s style on visually plus size models.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.
Stiff denim, 90s wide fits, restrictive waistbands and generic silhouettes have meant that options have fallen short on what’s available for curvy women in the past – but it doesn’t have to be this way anymore.

Last year’s spring/summer runways predicted that 2023 would be the year of denim — and that hasn’t changed for 2024. Whether at shows from the biggest fashion houses or via inspo-worthy street style looks sported throughout fashion month, showgoers are doubling down on the material…and we’re not just talking Canadian tuxedos (though those were in abundance). And if one style reigned supreme in the jean category, it might just be maxed-out patchwork denim jacket: a mosaic masterpiece of multiple shades of blue in a single item of outerwear. For proof, just look at the most recent London Fashion Week shows from Ahluwalia, which featured head-to-toe patchwork looks with reworked Levi’s denim, and KGL, which included intriguing patchwork co-ord sets.
I’m all about a Canadian tuxedo moment, especially when it comes to mixing indigo washes. So this bag (and outfit) is really true to my style. I really love the three denim shades in the Soho bag, so I decided to play off them — styling the bag with my favorite dark-wash jacket and new light-wash jeans. I then accessorized with some chunky gold jewelry to complement the gold hardware of the purse.
I can see myself continuing to reach for this bag when I put together a denim-forward outfit or want to add a unique, modern twist to a street style look. For the spring, I can pair my Soho Bag with a denim mini skirt, and for winter, I can mix it up with a leather jacket.
Overall, the purse is versatile enough to play on several trends, seasons, and personal styles. So whether you’re looking to channel Beyoncé’s Western aesthetic or Ariana Grande‘s indie-boho Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind vibe, go on and cart up a Coach bag for your own trendy denim look.
If you live for a long-sleeve, utilitarian-style dress, you’re in luck. If a chic wrap shirtdress is more your speed, we’ve found a belted Cinq à Sept one that has us gushing over how designers can now bend a yard of denim to fit their will. Plus, the styling capabilities are endless. For instance, a cute cardigan sweater perched over your shoulders on a sleeveless midi or a faux fur jacket over a chic mini paired with pointed booties. The list goes on, but one thing is for sure: A denim dress is a must-have for spring. Ahead, denim dresses that prove just how versatile and adorable the denim dress is.
If I can call myself an expert on anything, it is this: finding the best tall jeans.
Fellow tall gals know the struggle all too well: you find something cute while online shopping, you order it and try it on only to find that it looks like it was made for a child it’s so short. Finding jeans that fit us is one of life’s biggest trials (and don’t even get me started on dresses, jumpsuits, playsuits, swimwear and skirts).
As if denim shopping wasn’t difficult enough for the average-height person, it’s 10 times worse for anyone over 5’8″. I’m six feet tall, and I can honestly say I spend my life trawling the internet for the perfect pair of jeans morning, noon and night. Best believe that when I do find a pair that fits, I buy them in every colour.
When cropped mom jeans became chic, us leggy girls were in our element (essentially all our jeans are cropped, am I right?). Having said that, it’s nice to sometimes have the option of wearing something longer, like baggy jeans, flared jeans, straight leg jeans or high-waisted jeans that don’t look like cut-offs. Don’t get me wrong, a good ol’ ankle grazer is ideal for spotlighting some box-fresh white trainers or chunky dad sandals, but while everyone else gets to look like they’re wearing their boyfriend’s jeans, I look like I’m wearing a 12-year-old’s.

I know I’m not the only tall person who feels let down when it comes to the variety of places that cater to us, either. When Topshop had stores, you could walk in and be greeted by a ginormous ‘Petite’ section but you’d be lucky if the ‘Tall’ area even existed – often it’d just be one rail and generally consisted of mismatched pieces that were obviously returns people had bought online. High-street favourite Zara don’t specifically cater to taller ladies, and neither do H&M – it’s just pot luck if you find something that fits or is labelled ‘full length’ – and designer brands barely accommodate for plus size jeans, let alone different heights.
The good news is that Instagram has brought about a flourish of influencers and bloggers who are all different shapes and sizes, including heights. Some of my go-to tall girls for inspiration when it comes to where to shop are Olivia Laura Turner, Zanna Vandijk, Tara Jade, Jacqueline Ilumoka and Ashley Battle. Even if they haven’t bought something that’s specifically labelled as ‘Tall’, it’s super handy to see how general pieces of clothing fit and look on them so I don’t have to go through the trouble of testing them myself.
Top tip: some brands like Marks & Spencer and Abercrombie & Fitch do, in fact, carry jeans for tall women – just look out for/select the ‘Long’ or ‘Extra Long’ option when picking your size before you check out.
There was a time when wearing white jeans at any time of year besides the summer was a true fashion faux pas. White jeans were for summer, and blue jeans were for everything else—no room for debate. While many traditional folks still buy into this narrative, fashion people tend to disagree. What can we say? We like to break the rules. Wearing white jeans whenever it feels like the right time to put them on is exactly what I would expect from the fashion crowd, and I’ve been seeing a lot of it lately.
With the vanilla-girl aesthetic *still* all over my FYP, there hasn’t been a better time to wear white denim in any which way that you like it. Whether you’re after the “winter whites” look or you’re going for a wardrobe revamp, these eight outfits will inspire your white-denim adventures.
Even before you get to the question of red wine and barbecue sauce, white jeans can be a treacherous proposition. If the denim is too thin, it’s bound to be see-through. If it’s too thick, it’s going to be relegated to the back of your drawer once the warm weather hits (which, odds are, is exactly when you’ll want to be wearing them).
But given how many pairs of white jeans we start seeing on Instagram come Memorial Day every year, there must be a Goldilocks-style solution to finding a pair that’s just right. And while you could go out and try on a few dozen pairs under unforgiving dressing room fluorescents, we’re partial to the alternative: going off the wisdom and experience of shoppers who have already taken them for a test drive.
In the interest of tracking down the best crisp white jeans to pair with your striped shirts and go-to denim jacket, we trawled the reviews of retailers such as Everlane, Nordstrom, and Shopbop to find the best white jeans. Read on to shop them all.
It’s usually around the mid-season mark that I like to take stock of my current wardrobe and see what pieces might be missing or in major need of a revamp. This winter, I am focused on elevated basics since they have the ability to bring just about any outfit to the next level. At the end of the day, I am all about transforming my closet into a chicer version of itself, especially if I can do it in a simple, straightforward way.
With a little bit of contemplating and cold-weather outfits top of mind, I narrowed down five key basics that I would like to shop at the moment, ranging from transformative coats to sleek boots, cool jeans, and more. Ahead, I break down each elevated basic with some visual winter outfit inspiration on how to wear each piece, plus a comprehensive roundup of finds that fit the bill perfectly.
