  • Influencer Lizzie Kieffer Shares Video Filmed Before Daughter’s Death

    [ad_1]

Influencer Lizzie Kieffer shared an emotional family video filmed just prior to the death of 12-month-old daughter, Lily.

The physical therapist took to Instagram on Monday, October 14, to post a clip she kept in her “drafts since the Friday before everything,” which captured her morning ritual while 18 weeks’ pregnant with her third child, Isla, whom she gave birth to last month.

“Such a normal day, everyone was happy and healthy,” Kieffer captioned the video. “I think about this post often, how I want to go back to this simple day. But also so happy Isla is here and part of our everyday now.”

Kieffer shared via Instagram on April 26 that Lily had died, noting at the time that she and husband, Matt, had discovered the child had a “large mass on her brain.”

The new Instagram video showed Kieffer working out on her own before the couple’s eldest child, Mia, born in June 2022, and Lily joined her. The footage captured Kieffer feeding Lily on a sofa before she held the child up to the camera for a close-up.

Kieffer’s caption continued, “Days like this aren’t promised. They aren’t a given. I’m grateful for this life He has given me. I’m so grateful for the gift of Lily. The gift of Matt, Mia, Isla, my ability to move my body and be healthy.”

She then reflected on how she continues to process her ongoing grief. “Yes, I want to go back to this day so badly, moving through my day with Lily on my hip. But each day I wake up with a “thank you Jesus”, my heart mends sliver by sliver. It’s a far from perfect thank you – but I try everyday.”

  • Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Killed in Prison Attack After Pedophilia Conviction

    [ad_1]

Lostprophets singer and convicted pedophile Ian Watkins has reportedly died after he was attacked in prison, according to Rolling Stone. He was 48.

Watkins was serving a 29-year sentence at the HMP Wakefield high-security prison — known as “Monster Mansion” for housing some of Britain’s most dangerous criminals — after he was convicted of a string of sex crimes, including crimes against young children and babies. He was attacked on Saturday, October 11, sustaining fatal injuries at the scene.

West Yorkshire Police said two men have been arrested on suspicion of the murder of the disgraced rock star. Additional details regarding the attack have yet to be officially revealed, but The Sun reported that another convict jumped the singer and slashed his throat.

“Watkins has been killed in the most brutal way possible – and the attack was shocking, even by prison standards,” the source told the outlet. “Guards were nearby and raced to the scene pretty quickly — but there was nothing they could do, and they could not save him.”

According to the BBC, a spokesperson for the prison said it is aware of the incident but cannot comment while the investigation is ongoing.

This is the second attack on Watkins at the prison since he was jailed in December 2013. In August 2023, three prisoners attacked him and left him with injuries which, while not life threatening, required hospital treatment. Reports say he was taken hostage and beaten for six hours by his fellow inmates.

After his 2013 arrest, Watkins admitted to several sex offenses, including attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13, but pleaded not guilty to rape.

He was also guilty of conspiring to rape a child, three counts of sexual assault involving children, seven involving taking, making or possessing indecent images of children and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.

In 2014, judges rejected an appeal by Watkins to reduce his sentence and, in 2019, Watkins was given an extra 10 months in jail after authorities found a phone in his possession. At that time, Watkins argued that other prisoners forced him to hold onto the phone, but refused to reveal which prisoners gave him the phone out of what he claimed at the time was a fear of retribution.

Watkins’ ex-girlfriend, Joanne Mjadzelics, who helped expose the singer of his crimes, told the Daily Mail she was surprised “it didn’t happen sooner,” referring to her ex’s violent death.

“I was always waiting for this phone call,” Mjadzelics told the outlet. “He was walking around with a target on his back from the first day he entered the prison. I expected it to have happened earlier.”

She continued, “I have always been scared of him getting out and tracking me down or something, so this is a relief.”

Before his arrest, Watkins was a massive celebrity as the lead singer of the Welsh band Lostprophets. He formed the band in 1997, rising to the top of the charts in 2000 with the album “The Fake Sounds of Progress.” The group sold millions of albums worldwide, but disbanded in 2013 after his conviction.

  • Robert Redford Dead at Age 89 After Retreating From Public Eye

    [ad_1]

Actor and director Robert Redford has died at age 89.

Redford died on Tuesday, September 16, at his home in Utah, according to a statement to The New York Times from his publicist Cindi Berger. His rep confirmed that he died in his sleep but did not provide a specific cause.

Redford got his start in the ’60s with small roles on TV before movies like Barefoot in the Park with Jane Fonda made him a star. He went on to star in classic films including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Way We Were, Out of Africa, All the President’s Men and Three Days of the Condor. The Sting, which was released in 1973, earned Redford his first and only acting Oscar nomination.

In the 1980s, Redford transitioned into directing, winning an Academy Award for his directorial debut, Ordinary People.

Redford was also an activist and is known for founding the nonprofit Sundance Institute, which went on to become the Sundance Film Festival.

“I was born with a hard eye,” Redford told The Hollywood Reporter in 2014. “The way I saw things, I would see what was wrong. I could see what could be better. I developed kind of a dark view of life, looking at my own country.”

Before his death, Redford made a brief appearance in the season 3 premiere of Dark Winds alongside Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin. The duo, who were both executive producers on the show, played incarcerated men engaged in a high-stakes game of chess behind bars in the March episode.

Director Chris Eyre opened up about working with Redford in his return to acting after a six-year hiatus. According to Eyre, a potential Redford cameo had been “in the air since the first season,” and there were plans for Redford to appear in the season 2 finale.

“I never thought I could get to a place in my life where I would know Robert Redford, let alone be in a scene with him,” Dark Winds star Zahn McClarnon told Vulture.

Showrunner John Wirth, meanwhile, confirmed that there were obstacles they had to address before Redford’s cameo was filmed, adding, “I was never really sure it was going to happen until it happened.”

Redford’s final role before he returned to the spotlight in Dark Winds was in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, where he reprised the role of former S.H.I.E.L.D. director turned HYDRA traitor Alexander Pierce from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

After starring in 2018’s The Old Man & the Gun, Redford said that was likely his final onscreen appearance.

“Never say never, but I pretty well concluded that this would be it for me in terms of acting, and [I’ll] move towards retirement after this ’cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21,” Redford told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “I thought, ‘Well, that’s enough.’ And why not go out with something that’s very upbeat and positive?”

Redford walked that decision back one month later, telling Variety it “was a mistake” to announce he was retiring.

“I should never have said that,” he said. “If I’m going to retire, I should just slip quietly away from acting, but I shouldn’t be talking about it because I think it draws too much attention in the wrong way. I want to be focused on this film and the cast.”

Redford is survived by his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, and daughters Shauna, 64, and Amy, 54, whom he shared with first wife Lola Van Wagenen. Their son James died of cancer in October 2020 at age 58. Their first child, son Scott, died of SIDS in 1959 when he was 2 months old. Redford also had seven grandchildren.

  • Charlie Kirk’s Family Receives Tribute From Coldplay’s Chris Martin

    [ad_1]

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin encouraged his fans to “send love” to conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk’s family following Kirk’s shooting death on Wednesday, September 10.

“Let’s raise our hands and send love, anywhere you want to send it in the world,” Martin, 48, told fans during a concert at London’s Wembley Stadium on Friday, September 12. “There are so many places that might need it today, so here it comes from London.”

Viral footage showed Martin assuring the audience, “You can send this to your brother or your sister, or you can send it to the families of people who’ve been going through terrible stuff. You can send it to Charlie Kirk’s family. You can send it to anybody’s family.”

The Coldplay musician argued that it was just as important to send love to “people you disagree with” as it was to share those sentiments with the like-minded.

“Send [those you disagree with] love anyway,” he urged. “Send it to peaceful people in the Middle East, Ukraine and Russia, Azerbaijan and Sudan, Somalia, anywhere you think might need love from London.”

Tributes have come in from the sports and entertainment worlds since Kirk was shot during a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died at age 31.

Following a two-day long search, the FBI announced on Friday that it had apprehended 22-year-old shooting suspect Tyler Robinson. According to CNN, Robinson dropped out of Utah State University despite having a scholarship and had no registered political affiliation.

The Turning Point USA founder’s death led to memorial messages from stars and public figures across the political divide, including President Donald Trump, Chris Pratt, Danica Patrick, Maria Shriver and Josh Duhamel. As part of her tribute, Savannah Chrisley revealed that she was supposed to join Kirk on his American Comeback Tour later this year.

“I am numb. I can’t believe I’m even writing these words,” she wrote. “Charlie Kirk changed my life…he brought me into the Turning Point family this past year, and I was supposed to be standing next to him at every college this October. Instead, I sit here with a broken heart, devastated beyond words.”

Former California first lady Shriver reacted to news of Kirk’s killing by writing via Instagram: “This is a violent act of hate that we must all denounce, all of us, regardless of party. This is reprehensible, horrendous violence that affects each and every one of us.”

Two days after the shooting, Utah Governor Spencer Cox delivered a similarly unifying call to action for young people during a press conference on Friday, according to NPR.

Jack, 39, said he was at home in Los Angeles when he got the tragic news on July 22, having just spent a week with his father and the rest of his family in the U.K. earlier in July.

“I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock at my house door, at around 3:45 in the morning. Someone who’s worked for my family for probably 30 years now was knocking on my door. When I looked through my window and saw it was him, I just knew something bad had happened,” Jack explained in a YouTube video posted on Wednesday, September 3.

He continued, “I was informed that my father had passed. … Immediately, I don’t know … just pain. Sadness and pain. So many thoughts. His death came two weeks after his final concert on July 5. “It is […]

“I wish he was still here. I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, and I think people saw that at the show,” Jack said, referring to Ozzy’s frail appearance during his final performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England, just weeks before his death.

Jack said that neither he nor his family “expected it to happen as quickly as it did,” adding that the possibility of Ozzy dying was “not on our radar.”

“He was so happy that he did the show. And he was happy to move into this next phase of his life,” Jack said. “He wanted to spend more time in England. He wanted to spend more time with my kids.”

Jack said he feels lucky to have spent time with his father before his death, when he and his family stayed with Ozzy in the U.K. just after the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham. Jack shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly: Pearl, 13, Andy, 10, and Minnie, 7. In July 2022, he welcomed daughter Maple, now 3, with his current wife, Aree Gearhart.

“I stuck around, hung out with the family at the house, my kids — it was a really amazing week,” Jack said.

Jack said he and his family were initially meant to fly to Portugal after the Black Sabbath concert, but “my kids all got sick.”

“They all had a stomach virus and it was really gross,” he explained. “So we canceled the trip and we just hung out at our family house in England for a week. It was awesome. It was sunny. My dad was in an amazing mood. He was really happy every day. He was opening up the newspaper and seeing different reviews and different stories from the Back to the Beginning show. It was great. It was a lot of fun.”

Jack added, “I look back on that now and I’m so grateful. I’ve never been so grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu as I am today.”

Ozzy died from cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease, according to a death certificate obtained by the U.K.’s Sun newspaper in August.

Ozzy’s family confirmed his death at the age of 76 in a statement to Us Weekly on July 22.

“It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning,” they said. “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time”

  • Kath Wharton’s Cause of Death: Rugby Star Found Dead in Parking Lot

    [ad_1]

New Zealand rugby player Kathleen “Kath” Wharton’s cause of death has reportedly been revealed nine months after the mom of four was found unresponsive in a McDonald’s parking lot.

Wharton died at 41 years old from sudden cardiac arrest while she was taking a nap in an Auckland, New Zealand, McDonald’s parking lot “after a long-haul flight from a rugby tournament in Japan” on November 21, 2024, the New Zealand Herald reported on Saturday, August 23, citing associate coroner Hannah Cheeseman’s findings.

The associate coroner also found that Wharton had COVID-19 at the time of her death. The virus, along with the effects of a long flight and jet lag, was deemed a possible contributing factor in the athlete’s death, Fox Sports Australia reported. Dr. Kilak Kesha, who conducted the post-mortem, stated that COVID-19 can potentially “unmask” an existing cardiac problem.

Before her death, Wharton had been in Japan with her husband, Andrew, and their daughter, according to multiple reports. A teammate’s child had lost their passport, so she opted to travel with the child instead of heading back to New Zealand with her family and the rest of her team.

Iconic composer and songwriter Quincy Jones has died. He was 91.

Jones died Sunday night at his home in Bel Air in Los Angeles, his publicist Arnold Robinson said, per multiple outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and the Associated Press.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him,” Jones’ family said in a statement.

Jones was born in March 1933 in Chicago but later moved with his family to Bremerton, Washington. After playing the trumpet and piano throughout high school, Jones went on to attend Seattle University before transferring to the Berklee College of Music. The musician later dropped out of college to serve as a trumpeter, arranger and pianist with Lionel Hampton.

After returning to New York following a tour in Europe in the late ‘50s, Jones composed and arranged pop hits for singers such as Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan and Aretha Franklin. In the ‘70s, Jones founded Qwest Productions, later producing albums for Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and more. Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters — Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser — on January 4. […]

“Musically, we knew we had ‘it’ with Thriller. To this day I can hear artists trying to replicate its sonic power,” Jones said in an interview with the Library of Congress in June 2016. “It’s no accident that more than three decades later no matter where I go in the world, in every club, like clockwork at the witching hour you hear ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Beat It,’ ‘Wanna Be Starting Something,’ and ‘Thriller.’ In every language on the planet, from prison yards in Thailand to Thrilltheworld.com, Thriller is still giving people ‘goosebumps.’ It’s pretty astounding and very satisfying as an artist.”

In addition to his work on pop records, Jones also had a wildly successful career as a composer for film and television. He made his breakthrough as a composer for Sidney Lumet’s 1964 film The Pawnbroker. Following the success of the movie, Jones was in constant demand and worked on several films including 1966’s Walk, Don’t Run, 1970’s The Out-of-Towners and 1972’s The Getaway. In addition to film, he also composed theme music for hit television shows of the period, including Sanford and Son, The Bill Cosby Show and the critically-acclaimed mini-series Roots.

While Jones’ contributions to the music industry are unparalleled, the artist’s personal life also made headlines over the years. He was married three times and had seven children with five different women. In 1957, Jones married Jeri Caldwell and welcomed daughter Jolie. After calling it quits in 1966, Jones had a brief affair with Carol Reynolds, who gave birth to daughter Rachel in 1963. Jones married Ulla Andersson from 1967 to 1974. During their marriage the twosome welcomed daughter Martina in 1966 and son Quincy in 1968 (he also went on to become a music producer). One day after his divorce from Andersson, Quincy wed actress Peggy Lipton, with whom he welcomed daughters Kidada and actress Rashida Jones in 1974 and 1976, respectively. The couple divorced in 1990. Quincy later dated actress Nastassja Kinski from 1991 to 1995, with whom he welcomed daughter Kenya in 1993.

Jones is survived by his seven children.

Payne died at age 31 earlier this month after falling from a hotel balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires. A partial autopsy subsequently showed that he had “pink cocaine” — a recreational drug that is typically a mix of methamphetamine, ketamine and MDMA — in his system at the time, along with cocaine, benzodiazepine and crack.

The initial preliminary autopsy revealed that Payne may have been “in a state of semi or total unconsciousness” at the time of his fall, as his injuries and the “position in which his body was found” suggested he “did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself.”
