MINNEAPOLIS — A fatal overnight hit-and-run crash injured six people and killed one.

Police say they responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash on Fifth Street North at Hennepin Avenue at approximately 12:23 a.m. on Saturday.

Six people were taken to Hennepin Healthcare, with one of those people suffering from life-threatening injuries.

A 16-year-old girl was transported to the hospital where she later died.

Minneapolis police are still investigating what happen but believe an altercation was the cause for the accident. According to a police report, an adult female suspect drove in reverse on Hennepin avenue then drove the wrong way on Fifth street into the crowd.

The police report went on to say that the suspect was followed by witnesses driving out of downtown.

Law enforcement say the suspect stopped the vehicle on the 2300 block of Bryant Avenue North and was arrested.

    An investigation is ongoing.

  • Hit-and-run victim dies months after crash as Bloomington police continue search for suspect

Hit-and-run victim dies months after crash as Bloomington police continue search for suspect

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. —  A family is heartbroken and a driver is on the run after crashing into an Uber carrying Kelvin Conteh back in December.

Police say Conteh died five days ago after being in a coma for months.

Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges says a nationwide warrant has been issued for 20-year-old Eivi Almontes and charges have been upgraded to criminal vehicular homicide.

Fatmata Ndiaye held back tears on the phone as she spoke about her brother Conteh.

“It has just been the worst nightmare- it still doesn’t feel real,” she said.

Ndiaye said her brother immigrated to the United States from Sierra Leone five months before the crash.

“His dream was to establish himself so they (wife and children) could eventually join him in the states,” Ndiaye said.

According to the criminal complaint, Conteh was riding in an Uber that was hit at the intersection of 12th Avenue South and 94th Street in Bloomington around 10:30 p.m. last December.

Ndiaye said he was on his way to work a nightshift at Walmart.

The charging document says a witness saw Almontes’ sedan blow through a stop sign, crash directly into the right side of the Uber and then drive away from the crash.

Evidence and witness testimony gathered by investigators led them to a body shop in New Hope where a vehicle belonging to Almontes was found. The charging document says a piece of the bumper that was left at the crash scene fit perfectly into the broken part of Almontes’ vehicle.

Online court records show Almontes has five speeding tickets and one for driving with a suspended license.

The complaint says social media data puts him in an area near Mexico City.

“The arm of the law is very long and I think it does extend into a country that’s south of the United States” Hodges said. “I would strongly suggest turning yourself in.”

Ndiaye is grateful for all the medical care her brother received and is hopeful justice will be served.

“Do the right thing and come forward and own up to the cowardly act and face the consequences,” she said.

Conteh’s memorial service will be on Wednesday.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington Police at 952-563-4900.

1 dead, 5 injured after three vehicle hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — One person is dead and five others are injured after a three-car hit-and-run crash in Philadelphia’s Holmesburg section on Friday night.

It happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of State Road and Ashburner Street.

According to police, a silver Nissan SUV was traveling northbound on State Road when it made a left turn onto Ashburner Street.

While making the turn, the Nissan reportedly struck a black Honda that was traveling southbound at a high rate of speed.

The impact caused the Honda to strike a third vehicle, a black Ford Escape, before crashing into a utility pole.

The black Honda had three occupants, investigators say. A passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police later identified the victim as 17-year-old Shibin Sony from Philadelphia.

The driver and another passenger were taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

Authorities say there were also three occupants inside the black Ford Escape.

The driver and two passengers of that vehicle were taken to the hospital where they are in stable condition.

The first vehicle, the Nissan SUV, fled the scene. Police are still looking for the driver.

This is an ongoing investigation with the Crash Investigation Division. Anyone with information on the hit-and-run should contact the police immediately.

Police seek SUV driver they say fled after crash killed 2 young brothers

    [ad_1]

Antioch, Calif. — – Authorities in a San Francisco Bay area community are seeking a suspect in a hit-and-run collision that killed two young brothers on Friday.

Police responded to a reported traffic collision at an intersection in Antioch around 11:30 p.m., the Antioch Police Department said in a statement.

Officers arrived at the scene of an accident involving two vehicles, including one carrying two boys, aged 12 and 13.

The boys were transported by ambulance to area hospitals but died of their injuries, police said.

The driver of one of the vehicles fled on foot, police said.

“It appears speed and reckless driving were factors in this incident,” the police statement said.

A witness reported seeing a black SUV speed past. He heard a crash and went to the scene, where he found the driver of the car that apparently was hit by the SUV, KGO-TV reported.

The witness said he helped the man, believed to be the father of the two boys, remove one of them from his car.

Suspect arrested on murder charges in fatal hit-and-run near White House

    [ad_1]

A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run which occurred earlier this month near the White House while a driver was fleeing from U.S. Secret Service officers, authorities said.

Thirty-three-year-old Benjamin Robertson of Washington, D.C., was arrested Thursday on second-degree murder charges, U.S. Park Police confirmed.

On the afternoon of July 12, Secret Service officers attempted to pull over a driver for having an expired registration at an intersection near the Ellipse and the Washington Monument, the agency said, which is located just a block south of the White House.

The driver sped away, running a red light and hitting and killing a 75-year-old Philadelphia man who was in a crosswalk in the process, the Secret Service reported. The victim was later identified by police as Bing Wong. A 13-year-old girl was also treated by paramedics at the scene for minor injuries.

Authorities did not immediately confirm how Robertson was identified as a suspect, nor the details of his capture Thursday.
