Ariana Madix Opens Up About ‘Empowering’ Journey On ‘DWTS’ And Boyfriend Daniel Wai’s Support

    By Anthony Dominic, ETOnline.com.

The ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star shares with ET her experience on ‘DWTS’ and emphasizes the significance of having her boyfriend’s support.

Ariana Madix is making headlines again, but this time it’s for her captivating journey on the dance floor on “Dancing With the Stars”. ET’s Deidre Behar recently caught up with Madix and her dance partner, Pasha Pashkov, to discuss her exhilarating experience on the show, the emotional release she felt while performing, and the unwavering support of her boyfriend, Daniel Wai.

When asked about her first week in the competition and the catharsis of donning her iconic “Vanderpump Rules” reunion dress, Madix couldn’t contain her excitement. She shared, “It felt amazing. Oh yeah. And very much therapeutic and Pasha choreographed just the most amazing stuff, and I felt just really empowered and strong, and I also felt like it was a moment for me to be like you do deserve to be here, and I’m just gonna give them my all, and I just want to be able to stay and keep doing that, you know? I wanna keep giving it my all every week.”

This marks a significant shift for Madix, who has been candid about her personal struggles and her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend Tom Sandoval, who cheated on her with her close friend, Rachel Leviss, after nine years of dating.

When asked if she feels like participating in the show has helped her close a chapter with her ex, Madix responded, “Yeah, I mean obviously I got to do some things in the house and stuff like that. But, you know, it’s like being able to just come out here and express myself and be in my element. I love to perform; I love to be on stage, and it’s just nice to be kind of over here and doing this with the best partner. You know?”

One of the key sources of support for Madix has been her boyfriend, Daniel, who has been in the audience every week, cheering her on. When asked about having him there, Madix couldn’t help but express her gratitude, saying, “It’s really, really nice. He’s so supportive. So many of my best friends were here tonight, and they’re just the best. And I’m so lucky I just feel like somehow, somewhere, the cosmic universe, whatever, I won the lottery when it comes to the best friends and the best support system. Truly.”

For the Season 32 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars”, Madix delivered a stunning performance alongside Pasha to a particularly appropriate track — Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself”.

Madix addressed the “Scandoval” drama head-on in the pre-taped segment before her dance, which she introduced by explaining, “My life has been a rollercoaster in the past year.

“Everybody got to watch it all play out and my life blow up on television,” Madix shared. “But my scandal does not define me.

“It’s time for me to stand on my own two feet… feeling like you were a joke to your partner of nine years… is devastating, but I want to show other women that you don’t have to let that hold you back,” she added.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.

Jamie Lynn Spears On How Her Family Reacted To Her First ‘DWTS’ Performance — And Who Teared Up

    [ad_1]

Jamie Lynn Spears is enjoying her cool mom points on “Dancing with the Stars”. The 32-year-old “Sweet Magnolias” actress tells ET’s Denny Directo that the experience on ABC’s reality competition has provided a beautiful opportunity to connect with her daughters, 15-year-old Maddie and 5-year-old Ivey.

Jamie Lynn’s girls were in the audience to cheer her on during Monday’s season 32 premiere on ABC, along with her mother, Lynne Spears.

“It just meant everything,” Jamie Lynn gushed of their support. “It was like, OK, at least to have that, it’s been a day, I got my girls here and my family, and that was it. I don’t think it would have been nearly as special without them.”

Jamie Lynn and her pro partner, Alan Bersten, delivered a spirited performance that earned them a score of 15 from judges Derek HoughCarrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. The positive feedback along with the audience’s enthusiastic response ensured that they were safe to dance for another week in the competition.

“They were really proud,” Jamie Lynn said of her daughters. “My youngest one, she did take a nap through most of the show, but she woke up for my performance. And then my oldest one said that she teared up at the end.”

She continued, “That made my heart feel like, really, I don’t know. It was weird to see my 15-year-old be proud of watching her mom dance on TV.”

Jamie Lynn joked that, like most parents of teens, “I have not done anything right in about three years,” but that joining “Dancing With the Stars” has been a “bonding experience for us, so I’ve really enjoyed it.”

Now, Jamie Lynn and Alan are looking ahead to next week’s Latin Night, where they’ll shake their hips to a Pitbull song.

“I’m sore, but, like, mentally … it’s tough,” Jamie Lynn admitted. “It’s really tough to, like, convince yourself that you’re gonna go out there and do this. I’ve just feel like I’m always so used to being really prepared and pretty confident whatever my craft is, and, like, I’m just not confident in being a dancer.”

    “Not yet,” Alan chimed in.

“I signed up with this obviously to be able to donate to my community with SAG, but then it’s also, at the same time, turned into this whole other thing of like, ‘Wow, like, you can really challenge yourself,’” Jamie Lynn mused of the experience so far. “I want to push myself and I didn’t realize it was going to affect me that much. But, like, I’m invested in it now.”

Just prior to the premiere, a source told ET that Jamie Lynn was “a little nervous that her personal life and family might be touched on during the season.”

During interviews leading up to her “DWTS” debut, Jamie Lynn was asked about sister Britney Spears, whose legal battles have garnered significant media attention in recent years and caused estrangement between the siblings. Jamie Lynn gracefully sidestepped the question, responding, “My 15-year-old [daughter Maddie] was very motivated for me to do this.”

In ET’s interview, Alan and Jamie Lynn were asked whether they are planning to dance to any of Britney’s hits in the ballroom.

“We’re not really thinking about the future,” Alan replied. “We’re literally thinking about some Pitbull and ‘Shake Señora’ … One day at a time is what we’re taking it at.”

  • Ariana Madix Kicks Off “DWTS” With a Nod to Her Revenge Dress

Ariana Madix Kicks Off “DWTS” With a Nod to Her Revenge Dress

    [ad_1]

Ariana Madix is once again dressing for revenge. During the Sept. 26 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” season 32, the reality star graced the stage in a fiery red costume reminiscent of the unforgettable revenge dress she wore to the “Vanderpump Rules” season 10 reunion. The sultry performance outfit featured similar cutouts, long sleeves, and a strip of red fabric across her stomach, with the addition of double thigh-high leg slits and sparkling crystal details for even more drama.

Madix initially wore the ab-baring design in the wake of #Scandoval after finding out her boyfriend of nine years was having an affair with one of her close friends. Her original look wasn’t technically a dress, but rather a crop top and matching maxi skirt — both from Mônot — but it definitely got the job done and made a statement. She debuted the re-created ensemble for a fitting tango performance set to “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld, dancing alongside a much more loyal partner, Pasha Pashkov.

As Madix explained prior to her first dance, “Dancing With the Stars” was something she decided to do in order to move on from the chaos of her very public breakup. “As a woman, cheaters suck, but you just showed anybody who is watching how you handle a cheater,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Madix in praise of her high-energy performance.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see whether Madix’s costumes include any other nods to her reality TV past, or if she’ll start an entirely clean slate. Either way, she’s excited to show off a side of herself you might not have seen before. “This is going to be a more confident, fun, and vibrant version of myself,” she said prior to the performance, per People. “Because I don’t need anybody else. I love me.”

Read ahead to check out Madix’s “DWTS” costumes so far.

  • Len Goodman,

    Len Goodman,

    [ad_1]

Len Goodman, a long-serving judge on “Dancing with the Stars” and “Strictly Come Dancing” who helped revive interest in ballroom dancing on both sides of the Atlantic, has died, his agent said Monday. He was 78.

Agent Jackie Gill said Goodman “passed away peacefully.” He had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

A former professional ballroom dancer and British champion, Goodman was head judge on “Strictly Come Dancing” for 12 years from its launch on the BBC in 2004. The dance competition, which pairs celebrities with professional dance partners, was a surprise hit and has become one of the network’s most popular shows.

Goodman’s pithy observations, delivered in a Cockney accent, endeared him to viewers. “You floated across that floor like butter on a crumpet,” he remarked after one foxtrot. He praised a salsa-dancing couple as “like two sizzling sausages on a barbecue.”

Goodman was head judge on the U.S. version of the show, ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars,” for 15 years until his retirement in November. For several years he judged the British and American shows simultaneously each autumn, criss-crossing the Atlantic weekly.

British broadcaster Esther Rantzen said Goodman had been “astonished and delighted” by his late-life fame.

“One of the reasons he succeeded so well in the States is that he was quintessentially British,” she said. “He was firm but fair, funny but a gentleman and I hope the nation will adopt his favorite expostulation of ‘pickle me walnuts.’”

Goodman also presented BBC radio programs and made TV documentaries, including a 2012 program about the sinking of the Titanic. As a young man, Goodman had worked as a shipyard welder for the company that built the doomed ship.

BBC director-general Tim Davie said Goodman was “a wonderful, warm entertainer who was adored by millions. He appealed to all ages and felt like a member of everyone’s family. Len was at the very heart of Strictly’s success. He will be hugely missed by the public and his many friends and family.”

Goodman was also a recipient of the Carl Alan Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to dance, and owned the Goodman Academy dance school in southern England.

His retirement announcement sparked praise from his fellow judges with host Tyra Banks called him a “legend.”  Many of the professional dancers on the show, including co-judge Derek Hough, had their dancing judged by Goodman when they were kids, Banks said.

“You’ve inspired generations of dancers around the entire globe through your passion and through your expertise and through laser-focused eye,” Banks said. “And they are going to carry on that commitment to excellence forever.”

“I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor,” she said. “From the ballroom to the boardroom!”

She said it would be impossible for her to focus on her entrepreneurship while hosting the competition show.

Cheryl Burke Addresses Speculation She Will Join ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Judges Panel (Exclusive)

    [ad_1]

    By Zach Seemayer, ETOnline.com.

Cheryl Burke has officially bid farewell to “Dancing With the Stars”. The longtime pro dancer delivered a stunning performance during Monday’s Season 31 finale, and capped off her time on the series beautifully.

Now, with her exit as a dancer — timed with Len Goodman’s departure as a “DWTS” judge — many are asking if she may follow in Derek Hough’s steps and join the judge’s table.

ET’s Denny Directo spoke with Burke backstage after Monday’s show, and she addressed both her exit, and her plans for the future.

“I am so emotional,” Burke said. “I’m gonna miss everybody! This is it’s crazy. It’s like, this has been my family. This is all I know in Los Angeles.”

When asked about the possibility of becoming a full-time “Dancing With the Stars” judge in the future, Burke shared, “I think the whole world knows at this point that I would definitely love to. But it’s not up to me.”

“What is up to me is my future, and I do know that it is time for me to evolve and see what else there is,” she continued. “Because there is life after ‘Dancing with the Stars’, so I’ve heard. I don’t know yet. I’ll let you know.”

Burke admitted that, until things are solidified with her career plans, leaving “DWTS” means she’s been living “in uncertainty, and it’s really scary.”

That being said, she’s got some irons in the fire, hinting, “There’s talks of me being a part of a very popular TV show, but I can’t say anything. It’s not finalized 100 per cent, but that could be happening soon.”

    *Caution: Spoilers ahead!

Dancing With the Stars” has crowned a champion couple! Season 31 came to an end on Monday with a grand finale, and a new pair of mirrorball trophy winners.

The night began with four couples still in the running: Wayne Brady and Witney Carson, Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas, Shangela and Gleb Savchenko, as well as Gabby Windey and Val Chmerkovskiy.

However, there could only be one victor, and after all the scores were tallied and the votes were counted, the new “DWTS” season 30 winner is…

    Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas!

“Thank you, guys! This is all thanks to you, and your votes… Thanks for the opportunity” an overwhelmed Charli marveled.

Meanwhile, Gabby and Val wound up as runners-up, Wayne and Witney came in third, while, Shangela and Gleb wound up in fourth place.

Charli and Mark performed two perfect routines on Monday’s finale. First, they delivered a redemption dance, performing a jive number that blew the judges away.

However, their second dance of the night — a gorgeous freestyle that explored reigniting a love for dance — managed to bring judge Derek Hough to tears.

Shangela On Making ‘Dancing With The Stars’ History: ‘This Is All Very New’

    [ad_1]

Shangela sashayed and strutted her way into television history last month when she became the first drag entertainer to compete on “Dancing with the Stars.”

The “RuPaul’s Drag Race” veteran kicked off her run on the ABC competition series in September with a sexy salsa set to the Pussycat Dolls’ “When I Grow Up.” For last week’s James Bond-themed episode, she and professional dancer Gleb Savchenko wowed viewers with a dramatic “GoldenEye” rhumba.

Appearing on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” Monday, Shangela ― whose real name is D.J. Pierce ― said her main objective on “Dancing with the Stars” was simply to have a good time. Still, she acknowledged the “magnitude to this moment” in the interview.

“I’m no stranger to being the first queen doing things,” she explained. “I was the first queen to walk the Oscars red carpet in drag, I was the first drag queen to ever attend [Vice President Kamala Harris’] residence.”

Watch Shangela’s appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” below.

As for smashing pop culture barriers, she added, “It’s not about just being the first. You’ve got to walk through, you’ve got to represent authentically and fiercely, and then you’ve got to keep that door open for the girls coming behind you.”

Shangela, a Texas native, made her debut appearance on the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2010. Her initial run on the series, however, was short-lived as she became the first contestant to be eliminated that season.

She surprised fans by returning to “Drag Race” for the following season, placing fifth. In 2018, she was a finalist on “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars,” and that same year, she appeared in “A Star is Born” with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

Shangela (left) and Gleb Savchenko on “Dancing with the Stars.”

“Dancing with the Stars” has featured a number of LGBTQ contestants since its 2005 premiere. In 2018, Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon became the show’s first gay winner. Last season, JoJo Siwa set a new precedent when she became the first contestant to be paired with a same-sex partner.

Elsewhere in her chat with Hudson, Shangela credited her time on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” with giving her a competitive edge. Still, she said her “Dancing with the Stars” run had already come with a number of unexpected challenges.

“Everyone thinks, ‘Oh, you’re a dancer,’ but I’ve never been formally trained,” she said. “I’ve never had any training on technique before, I’ve never been in a ballroom setting, so this is all very new.”

“But I’m not afraid,” she continued. “I want to just do my best, represent my community and show up.”

10 Famous Actors Who Got Their Start On Reality TV

    [ad_1]

There’s no one way to carve out a career as an actor. Some enter the industry as children, while others slowly build a resume of commercial work and guest spots. Still, others work as background actors as a way to support themselves and grab that coveted SAG card. But there’s a whole other category of actors that actually began their careers in a different place — reality TV. You might be surprised to learn that quite a few popular celebrities were once on reality competition shows.

It’s no surprise that those who can sing or dance can — a lot of the time — also act. The performing arts tend to overlap with one another, which is why so many contestants on singing and dancing competition shows are able to make the short leap over to Hollywood. Plus, these types of reality shows are much more plentiful than ones centered on acting (VH1’s Scream Queens seems to be the only notable example, really).

In some cases, however, the actor in question isn’t doing any sort of performing on TV — they’re simply on the show as an average person, mingling with singles on The Big Date or guessing the price of a car on The Price Is Right. You really never know whose career is going to take off.

Below, you’ll learn about 10 now-successful actors who were on reality TV shows before they were famous. From Emma Stone to Jon Hamm, these actors prove that a path to stardom begins differently for everyone.
