Are “Dancing With the Stars,” “FBI” on this week? Election Day TV schedule

While Americans will choose between former President Donald Trump, the GOP nominee, and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, they will also be choosing who takes 435 U.S. House and 34 U.S. Senate seats.

However, as the nation awaits the news of who wins the presidential election on Tuesday, November 5, regular TV programming could be impacted, and many popular shows will skip their weekly runtime completely.

Newsweek has compiled a full list of schedule changes you should expect for your favorite shows from Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) and FBI to late night TV.

    Dancing With the Stars

Fans of DWTS will have to wait until Tuesday, November 12 to watch another episode because of Election Day.

During the show’s regularly scheduled time, ABC will instead be airing its election night coverage Election Night 2024: Your Voice/Your Vote. This will keep Americans updated with real-time updates on the Electoral College map and which candidate secures enough votes to become president.

    FBI

FBI is also not airing as usual on Tuesday, November 5 because of Election Day coverage.

The show will be back on its regularly scheduled programming Tuesday, November 12, but for Election Day, viewers will instead be able to watch the CBS News: America Decides: Campaign ’24 Election Night program.

It often makes the most sense for TV networks to delay airing the next week’s episode as most Americans will be glued to election night coverage and would miss a new episode if it was scheduled as usual.

The Real Housewives of New York City

For those who rely on a dose of reality TV to get through any election season anxiety, there’s good news.

Bravo will continue to air The Real Housewives of New York City all throughout Election Night, from roughly 4 to 11 p.m., with a new episode airing at 9 p.m.

    Married at First Sight

Fans of a different reality show, Lifetime’s Married at First Sight, have less than ideal scheduling news for the week of the election, however.

The show, which brings strangers together to marry upon their first meeting, is skipping a week, with episodes to return Tuesday, November 12.

    1,000-lb Sisters

Another popular TLC reality show, 1,000-lb Sisters, will be pausing its programming this week as well.

So that means viewers will have to wait an extra week to catch up on what’s happening in the Slaton sisters’ lives.

    The Voice

The Voice is also taking a break this week due to Election Night coverage. NBC will instead be keeping track of all breaking news updates related to the 2024 election.

Fans of the singing competition show will have to be patient, as the next episode resumes next week on Tuesday, November. 12.

Stickers sit on a table during in-person absentee voting on November 1 in Little Chute, Wisconsin. Election Day could impact your regularly scheduled TV programs.

Is Jimmy Kimmel on This Week?

While Jimmy Kimmel Live! is a fixture on ABC, he will not be airing his late-night episode as usual.

This is due to ABC blocking off the time for election night coverage instead.

However, starting on Wednesday, November 6, Kimmel will be back on his usual schedule, with guests Jon Favreau, Jon Lovitz, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor as well as musical guest Alessia Cara.

Is Stephen Colbert on This Week?

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is also following suit and opting against airing a new episode on Election Night.

The next episode is scheduled for Wednesday, November 6 with guest George Stephanopoulos and a music performance by Lenny Kravitz.

Is Seth Meyers on This Week?

Late Night With Seth Meyers is likewise taking a break on Tuesday for NBC’s Election Night coverage.

However, fans don’t have to wait long because Meyers will be back with his regularly scheduled episodes beginning Wednesday.

Is Jimmy Fallon on This Week?

Taking a nod from the other late night TV hosts, Jimmy Fallon is delaying the next episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon due to Election Day coverage.

But the next episode airing on Wednesday will be action packed with guests Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Bailey Zimmerman.

    Other Election Coverage

While the final results of this year’s election may not be available for several days, Tuesday’s vote counts will help Americans learn who’s leading in key swing states as well as across America.

ABC News will begin its coverage at 8 a.m. Tuesday, while CNN starts its election show at 5 p.m. Monday.

Fox News will also air its election coverage beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, while MSNBC starts airing its election show at 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The last presidential election in 2020 took four days for officials to make a final call, mostly due to the prominence of mail-in ballots due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing.

For this year’s Election Day, most polling locations close around 7 p.m. or 8 p.m.

  • ‘Dancing With The Stars’: Even A 10-Happy Carrie Ann Inaba Couldn’t Save This Talented Celeb From Elimination

‘Dancing With The Stars’: Even A 10-Happy Carrie Ann Inaba Couldn’t Save This Talented Celeb From Elimination

Tough night to be a baseball and ballroom fan; when it’s Game 4 of the World Series and your team is one W away from taking the championship, should the Viennese waltz really matter?

Hell yes, it should! Thank goodness for multiple TVs and Freddie Freeman. And much obliged to those ABC censors, who kept us from seeing the Bruno bits in that goofy opening sequence with Derek Hough.

Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher with partner Alan Bersten. The judges want to see more dancing from the effervescent athlete, so Bersten packed their tango with plenty of kicks and spins as they hoofed it to “Psycho Killer.” Something clicked for Maher; she was much more graceful this week. “I can really you see work very very hard, especially on the frame,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. “A lot of content, but you still have to refine the foot work … Much better.” Score: 24 out of 30

NBA Champion Dwight Howard with partner Daniella Karagach. Karagach gave her partner some tough love by saying he hasn’t made it through one performance without making a mistake. Yikes! Lucky for the champ, Karagach’s sweet spot is choreographing memorable contemporary numbers with lots of breathtaking lifts. And once again, she didn’t disappoint: the judges were beyond wowed by the dynamic duo. “Dancing with that kind of intensity,” said Inaba. “Honestly I wasn’t sure you would ever go there. Tonight, you left nothing!” Score: 28 out of 30

Jenn Tran (The Bachelorette) with partner Sasha Farber: Season 32 celeb Alyson Hannigan visited the duo in rehearsal for no other reason than to suggest what it was like to act scared on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Thanks? Only problem was that there was nothing frightening about their contemporary homage to sexy vampires. Bloody good! “The queen of the damned! You really got your teeth into that performance,” said Tonioli. “You were actually in charge of the dance, and you won it darling.” Score: 28 out of 30

Super Bowl Champion Danny Amendola with partner Witney Carson. Amendola has the right amount of masculinity for his Argentine tango — and he’s a master at tossing his partner — but his timing was off and he could use a bit more passion. The judges saw something differently, though. “It was so fantastic,” said Hough. “You are a fantastic partner to Witney. I will say this, the connective tissue … your shoulders get a little hunched over and tight.” Score: 28 out of 30

Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik with partner Rylee Arnold: The gymnast got to play a zombie-like figure who walks on his hands in a contemporary number that more than made up for his bottom-of-the-leaderboard scores from last week. “Everyone to me is performing really well tonight, but hands down that was the best!” said Inaba. Score: 28 out of 30

The Bachelor‘s Joey Graziadei with partner Jenna Johnson. The pro figured out the best way to show off Graziadei’s leading man bonafides was to have him play a puppet master to her lithesome marionette. It worked! Their Argentine tango was, as Tonioli said, spellbinding. “You are the ultimate puppetmaster because you are always in control, which is a compliment,” said Hough. “There was two moments the lifts felt a little unstable but my friend, you are fantastic.” Score: 29 out of 30

Chandler Kinney (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) with partner Brandon Armstrong. Kinney wrapped the partner portion of the night with an impeccable Viennese waltz to the theme song for Pretty Little Liars. Damn this lady is good (no matter what Inaba says). “The beauty and sense of haunting,” said Tonioli. “The quality of movement … that really was exquisite.” Score: 29 out of 30

    Dance-off.

Kinney and Armstrong have immunity because of their previous scores. Couples face off while performing the same style of dance.

Howard vs Maher: Neither couple showed proficiency with their cha cha but Maher had more energy. Far be it from the judges, however, to let that stop them from targeting the Olympian for elimination. “Both of you have come so far in this competition,” said Inaba. “I thought you had a strong start, Dwight. Ilona, you were more technically sound than Dwight was.” Winner: Howard

Tran vs. Nedoroscik: The gymnast tried to upstage Tran’s salsa with his gymnastic prowess but there’s no beating the bachelorette’s technical abilities. “This is a lot of fun,” said Hough. “For me Jenn and Sasha, you went right into it, there was a lot of content.” Winner: Tran

Graziadei vs. Amendola: It’s a hottie-off! But honestly, didn’t you already predict the winner before they began their jumpin’ jives? Gee, that Johnson is a magnificent choreographer. “The battle of the six packs!” said Tonioli. “There was so much testosterone. Boys, you worked so hard and did it so well. The energy was out of this world.” Winner: Graziadei

Man, talk about a broken record: another voting milestone was hit Tuesday.

Bottom three celebs Kinney, Tran and Nedoroscik.

It’s Tran’s turn to go. Totally undeserved.

DWTS is off next week for the election. Vote, people!

Maks Chmerkovskiy Reacts to Anna Delvey’s Early DWTS Elimination

Maks Chmerkovskiy still has plenty of thoughts about Anna Delvey‘s Dancing With the Stars casting, but he wasn’t expecting her to leave the ballroom so early in the season.

“I am going to have to be honest, I thought she’s not going to be the first to go, in terms of her dance ability,” Chmerkovskiy, 44, exclusively told Us Weekly at the Dancers Against Cancer 10th annual Gala of Stars Awards in Beverly Hills on Wednesday, October 9.

Without naming names, Chmerkovskiy hinted that there were a “few others” he thought might be voted out of the competition before Delvey, 33, but her heart just wasn’t in it. “I don’t think she embraced the moment at all,” he added.

DWTS fans had mixed feelings after Delvey, a fraudster who was previously convicted of theft and grand larceny, was announced as one of the celebrity contestants on season 33. Described in her official ABC bio as “an artist, fashion icon and infamous NYC socialite,” Delvey was paired with pro dancer Ezra Sosa.

Chmerkovskiy previously expressed his strong opinion about Delvey’s casting during an appearance on the “TMZ Podcast” in September. At the time, he discussed the show’s tendency to cast certain archetypes of stars — from retired athletes to beloved Hollywood icons — but he wasn’t convinced Delvey was a good fit.

“So my struggle here … I can see both sides,” he said. “I can also be on the production side and I can be on the viewer side and understand it all. But if you want an ankle [bracelet] and sort of this, ‘Damn, this is going to draw attention,’ and the scandalousness of it all – I mean, there’s so many other people you can choose from.”

Chmerkovskiy noted that he was “absolutely not” a fan of Delvey, saying, “It doesn’t matter [who I would choose as a replacement]. To me, [Delvey’s] job was a professional liar. You’re gonna bring that person [on stage] and say, ‘Here’s a platform that a lot of people waited their entire actual career to be a part of,’ to also get a moment of a personal story [where they] can say, ‘This is who I actually am.’ Will I believe anything this lady says? Absolutely not.”

Delvey and Sosa, 23, had already performed a cha-cha in the DWTS ballroom when Chmerkovskiy’s interview dropped, and he noted that Delvey appeared “kind of standoffish” toward the overall experience.

“You can blame the nerves and say, ‘Hey, everybody’s human and this person is not used to that stage.’ Bulls— … I don’t buy this ‘she was nervous’ stuff,” he added.

Val Chmerkovskiy, who is currently competing on season 33 with Phaedra Parks, later weighed in on his brother’s comments. “He has his opinion,” he exclusively told Us following a September taping of DWTS. “Whether I share his opinion or not, that’s not my quote, and that’s not my position to talk about it.”

Delvey and Sosa, along with Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov, were the first couples sent home in a double elimination during the September 24 episode. As if she hadn’t already drummed up enough conversation, Delvey went viral for bluntly telling cohost Julianne Hough she would take “nothing” away from her time on the show.

Maks appeared on 17 seasons of DWTS, winning the mirrorball trophy in 2014 with Olympian Meryl Davis. He last competed on season 25 in 2017 and is now focused on raising his kids with wife Peta Murgatroyd.

The couple welcomed their third son, Milan, in July and are adjusting to life as a family of five. “It’s crazy. It’s a lot,” he told Us on Wednesday, joking that the pair are “entering this next chapter of our life of responsibility, lack of sleep and hope for the best.”

  • Anna Delvey Complains Following Dancing With The Stars Ouster

Anna Delvey Complains Following Dancing With The Stars Ouster

Convicted con artist Anna Delvey has been working hard to build her post-incarceration life, dipping into New York Fashion Week, podcasting, and a docuseries (among other hustles) as she awaits the outcome of her immigration case. But a recent effort to trade fabricated societal standing for actual celebrity might have been a step backwards for the Inventing Anna subject, if her recent comments are any indication. Reality TV, Delvey seems to be learning, can be a game that’s even dirtier than some of Delvey’s most infamous scams.

Anna Delvey, who also went by Anna Sorokin during her early years in New York, was famously convicted of second-degree grand larceny, theft of services, and first-degree attempted grand larceny in 2019, for which she was sentenced to four years in prison. The notorious grifter, who posted as a wealthy heiress interested in launching an arts-focused social organization, had used lies and half-truths to scam multiple people in her social circle out of thousands of dollars, prosecutors successfully argued, crimes detailed in the Netflix series bearing her name.

After her release from prison, she was placed in a New York immigration detention facility for allegedly outstaying her visa. She’s since been released on an electronically monitored “house arrest,” while her attorney argues that she should receive asylum in the U.S. due to fears that she might face dangerous conditions if deported.

The definition of “house” grew more elastic for Delvey in September, when she was cast in Los Angeles-based reality competition series Dancing With The Stars, a show that has offered image rehab for folks including former Donald Trump spokesperson Sean Spicer and fabulist Olympian Ryan Lochte. But unlike the spin doctor and the diver, Delvey struggled to hold her own on the show’s glossy ballroom stage.

When the show premiered last week, Delvey, wearing a monitoring device decorated to match her dress, cha-chaed to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” with professional hoofer Ezra Sosa. Though her turn wasn’t panned by the judges, the studio audience reportedly chilled to Delvey’s charms. “There was a shift in the energy,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba chided those in the stands. “Let’s all give this a chance.”

But Delvey’s chance was up this week when the combination of a low score for a quick step to KT Tunstall’s “Suddenly I See” and a shortfall of viewer votes sent her home in the first round. Her response to the loss was characteristically blunt, with Delvey telling show co-host Julianne Hough that she got “Nothing” from being on the show, and telling GMA that her favorite part of the experience was “getting eliminated.”

In a subsequent email to NBC News, Delvey elaborated on her experience in the competition, and suggested that the deck was stacked against her from the start. “The show so obviously used me to drive up the ratings, that they never had any plans to give me any chance to grow and only cared about exploiting me for attention,” Sorokin said of the ABC series.

“It was predatory of them to try [to] make me feel inadequate and stupid all while I did get progressively better yet they chose to disregard that.”

“It felt like I was never really given a fair chance by the viewers or some of the judges’ given their nonsensical scoring,” Delvey said in an interview with NBC. “It’s supposed to be a dance competition and not a popularity contest.”

Inaba was taken aback by Delvey’s criticism, telling Entertainment Weekly that Delvey “was dismissive not only of the opportunity she was given, of her wonderful and supportive partner Ezra in his debut season, but also of all of us who work on the show from the dancers to behind the scenes to the creative team.”

“We all put in the effort to give her a fair opportunity,” the judge continued. “But I don’t think she could see that and it’s a shame. A little gratitude could have changed the narrative.”

On Friday, Hough suggested folks take Delvey’s complaints with a grain of salt. Speaking with People, the dancer-turned-host said, “I’m always a big believer in grace and second chances and showing up. Also, it’s hard to go out first in the competition.”

Though Delvey was among the first to go home, it’s unlikely that she’ll be aware of who makes it to the grand finale. According to NBC, the New Yorker is hopeful that actor Reginald VelJohnson (who dedicated his most recent performance to his Die Hard co-star Bruce Willis) will win the season, but she won’t be following it closely enough to find out. “I don’t watch TV,” she said.

  • Cheryl Burke calls on Dancing With The Stars couple Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko to ‘stop the flirt’

Cheryl Burke calls on Dancing With The Stars couple Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko to ‘stop the flirt’

Dancing with the Stars season 33 premiere saw 12 celebrity hopefuls take to the dancefloor, but it was clear that Sports Illustrated model Brooks Nader was particularly nervous, crossing her arms defensively while listening to judges feedback.

Former professional Chertyl Burke, however, has one piece of advice for Brooks to help her relax – “be goofy”.

“Everyone’s nervous, even the athletes who have competed at the Olympics, they were nervous, – it’s really difficult to walk into a show that’s been going on for 33 seasons, but I also think they had a really short period as far as training goes,” Cheryl told HELLO!

In past seasons the hopefuls often had up to six weeks of training but this year many of them did not begin rehearsals until after the Good Morning America announcement two weeks prior.

Brooks has been paired with Gleb Savchenko.

On her iHeartRadio podcast, “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans,” Cheryl had previously clocked Brooks nerves during her appearance on GMA, but she tells HELLO!: “If you’ve got a gorgeous couple competing, you better be goofy and balance it out. They’re almost too beautiful.”

“I think they both are very attracted to one another. I do think in the beginning it’s like any relationship, it is the honeymoon phase and I already know that that will die sooner rather than later in general as it does,”  Cheryl continued, adding: “And I hope that they’re able to get to work and, and stop the flirting.”

The new season of Dancing With The Stars will be “spicy and feisty,” judge Bruno Tonioli previously told HELLO! ahead of the season premiere.

“It is a very, very good cast  – very spicy, very feisty. But it’s a show that I always feel  is the first time – you can never approach it with what has happened before because they’re all so different,” he shared.

The celebrities for season 33 joining Brooks are Reginald VelJohnson, Eric Roberts, Anna Delvey, Chandler Kinney, Ilona Maher, Joey Graziadei, Danny Amendola, Dwight Howard, Jenn Tran, Phaedra Parks, and  Stephen Nedoroscik.

There was be no elimination during week one but the judge’s points and viewers’ ratings will go towards the second week scores.

Los Angeles — Convicted con artist Anna Sorokin has hit the dancefloor on “Dancing With the Stars” with a featherweight – and very sparkly – ankle monitor.

The so-called “fake heiress,” who was convicted of swindling banks, hotels and friends in 2019 after falsely building a reputation as a wealthy German heiress named Anna Delvey, debuted the ballroom-worthy ankle monitor during the premiere of “Dancing With the Stars’” new season Tuesday night.

“It’s actually not a big issue at all. It’s pretty light and I asked them to make it tight so it doesn’t dangle. So it’s not so bad,” she told The Associated Press after the premiere. She and dance pro Ezra Sosa performed a routine set to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.”

“It’s the real star of the show, let’s be honest here,” Sosa said of Sorokin’s bedazzled ankle monitor.

“I think it’s kind of funny how people like – it’s not like an ankle weight,” Sosa said. “It’s not like 20 pounds. It’s like literally less than a pound and it’s not a big deal.”

Sorokin acknowledged her debut didn’t go as planned.

“I feel relieved that it’s over,” she said. “I feel like my dance could have been a little bit better, but I’m happy I’ve done this and it was a great experience all over.”

Sorokin said she hopes viewers will be somewhat forgiving despite her criminal history.

“Hopefully people will give me, will give me a chance to show what I can do. And I served my time and I repaid my restitution,” she said.

Early reviews from fans weren’t positive, with the phrase “Anna Delvey’s Lackluster DWTS Debut” among those trending on the social media site X.

While she was released from prison in February 2021, immigration authorities picked her up shortly after she got out, claiming she overstayed her visa and must be returned to her native Germany. The “Inventing Anna” inspiration was in ICE custody for over a year before a judge cleared the way for her to switch to home confinement in October 2022 while she fights deportation.

Her release terms had to be amended to allow her to travel from New York to Los Angeles for filming.

While on home confinement, Sorokin has also gotten involved with a podcast and reality show.

Danny Amendola Reveals What Gronk Texted Him Before DWTS Appearance

NFL players have a long history on Dancing With the Stars – and two-time Super Bowl champion Danny Amendola is looking to add to it.

Ahead of the season 33 premiere of DWTS, Amendola, 38, spoke to Us Weekly exclusively about the opportunity to compete — and the advice he got from one of his most outspoken ex New England Patriots teammates Rob Gronkowski.

“Gronk hit me with a message this morning and he was so amped up, so juiced, I know he’ll be excited,” Amendola told Us. “He said, ‘Just bring the energy man.’ I’ll be channeling my inner Gronk.”

On the field, Gronkowski, 35, was a Hall of Fame caliber tight end. Off it, he’s become known for his larger-than-life personality that has transcended sports to the point that even non-sports fans know him simply as Gronk.

“Dancing With the Stars” dancer Artem Chigvintsev arrested on domestic violence charge in California

    CBS News Bay Area

    Live

Longtime “Dancing With the Stars” dancer Artem Chigvintsev was arrested Thursday on suspicion of felony domestic violence in Napa County, California, according to arrest records.

The county’s Public Booking Report says the 42-year-old Chigvintsev was arrested just before 10 a.m. for allegedly violating California Penal Code 273.5(a), willfully inflicting corporal injury resulting in a traumatic condition upon a victim who is a current or former spouse or partner, or cohabiting family member.

  • Bachelor Fans Think Kaitlyn Bristowe Is Hosting The Golden Bachelorette

Bachelor Fans Think Kaitlyn Bristowe Is Hosting The Golden Bachelorette

Kaitlyn Bristowe’s hints about a new gig have some thinking she’s hosting The Golden Bachelorette — while others are connecting the clues to Dancing With the Stars.

Bristowe, 39, inspired the speculation with an Instagram post on Wednesday, July 3, which read, “Remember when I asked you guys to put it out into the universe that I’d get the thing I auditioned for? I got it. Thank you.”

The social media upload included various photos of Bristowe’s recent adventures in Los Angeles. She shared a pic of her and professional dancer Sasha Farber, in addition to a snap with Katie Maloney. Bristowe also offered glimpses into her recent outings and a podcast taping with DWTS’s Julianne Hough.

Some fans took Farber, 40, and Hough’s individual appearances in Bristowe’s post as a hint that she’s going to be associated with a DWTS project. (Bristowe was the season 29 winner of the dance competition show alongside partner Artem Chigvintsev.)

The Dancing With the Stars showrunners caused a stir when they replaced hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews with Tyra Banks in July 2020 — but it wasn’t the first time the role had a change of guards. Bergeron served as the constant host for the dance competition from its 2005 debut through season 28, […]

“Wait, now I’m way too excited. OK so you’re either going to be a dancer and you’re going to bring that mirrorball home or you’re going to be a cohost or you’re going to be a guest judge,” wrote one social media user. “Either way I know it has something to do with Dancing with the Stars I’m so f—king excited.”

Most of the responses brought up the competition series. “DWTS all stars????” read another reply while someone else asked, “DWTS dance coach ?? Or host?!”

Other theories, however, were centered around Bristowe potentially hosting The Golden Bachelorette, which is set to premiere on ABC this fall. Bristowe was recently spotted on the set as the show filmed with leading lady Joan Vassos, according to footage shared by The U.S. Sun. The photos showed Bristowe in a red dress, which is the same one she’s wearing in her Instagram post.

Bristowe already has experience hosting The Bachelor franchise after she and Tayshia Adams were brought on to temporarily front season 17 of The Bachelorette. The opportunity came up after Chris Harrison announced a leave of absence in March 2021, which turned in to him stepping down from his hosting position permanently after more than 20 years with the franchise.

A shake-up no one saw coming! Chris Harrison hosted The Bachelor — and its limitless spinoffs — from the time the franchise made its debut on ABC in March 2002. However, things changed in June 2021 when he permanently exited his role, leaving the future of the gig up in the air. Harrison was a […]

Jesse Palmer subsequently took over as the permanent host of the franchise, which included The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise and the debut season of The Golden Bachelor. Fans around the world were tuning in to watch Gerry Turner‘s search for love when The Golden Bachelor premiered late last year.

After getting engaged to Theresa Nist, the couple got married earlier this year with cameras rolling. Just 90 days after their televised wedding ceremony, however, the pair shocked Bachelor Nation fans when they announced their split.

“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations,” Turner, 72, said on Good Morning America in April. “We’ve looked closely at our living situations and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s time for us to dissolve our marriage.”

Us Weekly broke the news that same day that Turner filed to dissolve their marriage in his hometown of Petersburg, Indiana. He cited an “irretrievable breakdown” as the reason for their divorce. Shortly before their breakup made headlines, Us confirmed that Turner was residing at his lake house in Indiana while Nist, 70, stayed at her home in New Jersey.

The duo shed light on their living situation during their GMA interview. “We looked at homes in South Carolina, we considered New Jersey, and we just looked at homes after home,” Nist said in April. “But we never got to the point where we made that decision.”

  • Alfonso Ribeiro joins WTOP to share excitement about hosting ‘A Capitol Fourth’ again on PBS – WTOP News

Alfonso Ribeiro joins WTOP to share excitement about hosting ‘A Capitol Fourth’ again on PBS – WTOP News

Alfonso Ribeiro returns for a second year hosting “A Capitol Fourth” from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol airing nationwide on PBS at 8 p.m. Thursday.

WTOP’s Jason Fraley previews ‘A Capitol Fourth’ with Alfonso Ribeiro (Part 1)

He’s known for “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” “America’s Funniest Home Videos” and “Dancing with the Stars.”

This Fourth of July, Alfonso Ribeiro returns for a second year to host the annual music and fireworks show “A Capitol Fourth” from the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol that’s airing nationwide on PBS starting at 8 p.m.

“I had to come back,” Ribeiro told WTOP. “It went fantastic (last year), I just enjoyed every minute of it and had such a blast. It was a wonderful show, the show was put together incredibly and I just enjoyed every moment. It was funny, when the show ended, there was a little after-event that we went to and the producers were like, ‘Hey, we’d love to offer you to do it again next year,’ and I said, ‘Absolutely, we’ll see you again,’ so it was a win-win.”

This year’s event features hit talent like Smokey Robinson, Fantasia, Darren Criss, Sheila E., Fitz & Noelle from Fitz & The Tantrums, Chloe Flower, Sister Sledge featuring Sledgendary, Loren Allred, Shawn Johnson East and Britt Stewart.

You’ll also see the National Symphony Orchestra, Choral Arts Society of Washington, Ministers of Music, U.S. Army Band, U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, U.S. Army Presidential Salute Battery and Military District of Washington.

“We’ve got a full show,” Ribeiro said. “We’ve got the greatest fireworks in all of the land, so it’s going to be an incredible evening. … We’re going to kick the show off with me singing and doing a little dancing with Britt Stewart from ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ so we’re gonna kick it off, we’re gonna have some fun (and) have such a great night.”

You’ll notice that neither Tom Jones nor The Sugarhill Gang are on the lineup, so don’t expect Ribeiro to bust out “The Carlton Dance” or the “Jump On It” dance from his iconic TV sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” (1990-1996).

“There is a likelihood that you will not see either; I try to not do those whenever possible,” Ribeiro said.

“I was fans and friends (of DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith), we had hung out before ever doing the show. … We actually went to Disneyland together, a group of us, and I met them when they were performing at an Endless Summer Jam here in Los Angeles and became friends with them. I was a big fan of their music, so it was cool getting to work with them.”

Since 2015, he has hosted the good, clean, family fun of ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

“I love the fact that I get to do that show,” Robeiro said.

“I truly, truly enjoy it. I’m honored that I got to follow in the footsteps of Tom Bergeron and Bob Saget. … It’s making people from all ages have a great time and laugh and enjoy themselves on a Sunday night before getting ready to start a busy week, being able to sit down and enjoy something together. Family entertainment doesn’t really exist much anymore — we’re one of the last.”

Ribeiro also currently hosts ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” after winning Season 19 as a contestant.

“I’m creating my own new path from being a contestant on the show to being a co-host to now being one of the hosts with Julianne Hough,” Robeiro said.

“It’s a great show, I love the show, I wanted to be on the show from the very beginning. It took them 19 seasons to let me on, I don’t know what that was, it took forever, but I finally got on and was lucky enough to win. … I can’t wait to find out who we’ve got this year, I’m sure it’ll be a great group.”

‘DWTS’ champ Derek Hough returns to DC area, invites doctor after wife’s medical emergency during last visit – WTOP News

Derek Hough discusses “Symphony of Dance” at Capital One Hall and returning to the area following his wife’s emergency craniotomy the last time they were in D.C.

‘DWTS’ champ Derek Hough returns to DC

In December, Derek Hough joined WTOP before he and his wife Hayley Erbert performed at MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. At the end of the show, his wife became disoriented and was taken to the hospital for an emergency craniotomy, to treat a cranial hematoma that resulted from a burst blood vessel.

“That show definitely became a moment in our lives that we’ll never forget,” Hough told WTOP.

“We are so thankful for MedStar Washington Hospital and the city itself, the beauty of it and the people, the people who came up to us in the streets and the coffee shops just wishing their best for us and wishing Hayley her health. It was a crazy experience. … Dr. Jeffrey Mai (is a) great man. We’ll never forget this guy. He’s on our cellphone. We call him regularly — always checking in.”

This Wednesday, Hough brings “Symphony of Dance” back to the D.C. area at Capital One Hall in Tysons, Virginia.

“Going back to that area is so special to us,” Hough said. “I really wanted our doctor at the hospital who performed both of Hayley’s surgeries to come see a show just to thank him and all of the nurses and the staff, but also just the city, the people — to come to a show so we could actually give our hearts to them as they did for us.”

He insists that “Symphony of Dance” is the most dazzling production that he’s ever taken on the road.

“There’s a lot of care and a lot of thought into this show,” Hough said.

“The pacing, the dynamics, the journey, the choreography. I have amazing choreographers. Collaborating with them — the dancers, their ability, their athleticism, their artistry — is just at a top tier. It’s really, really, really incredible and just the genres of [live] music from big band to old Hollywood to rock ‘n roll to Latin music and ballroom dancing; there’s so much variety.”

Born in Salt Lake City in 1985, Hough grew up with four sisters, including future star Julianne Hough. When his parents got divorced, they sent him and Julianne to London to study dance with competitive ballroom dancers Corky and Shirley Ballas, leading him to eventually win the WDSF World Latin Championship in 2002.

“My sis, Julianne, she’s full out always 100% of the time, even in rehearsals,” Hough said.

“She’s fearless, she really is, she’s an absolute fearless dancer. She’ll try anything, she goes for anything, a lot of energy, a lot of impact. I don’t know what she would say about me, but she is just absolutely fearless and incredible. It’s awesome having her back as a host on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ it’s like having the whole family back together. It’s amazing.”

Indeed, Derek became a household name as a professional dancer on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” from 2007 to 2016, winning a record six times with his celebrity partners Brooke Burke, Nicole Scherzinger, Jennifer Grey, Kellie Pickler, Amber Riley and Bindi Irwin. The show also earned him 11 Emmy nominations, including three wins.

“I feel like my freestyle with Kellie Pickler was very special because we never got through that dance ever until that one night, the night it mattered, we would fall out of lifts or our tricks wouldn’t work, whatever, so that was an amazing moment,” Hough said.

“Obviously, dancing with Bindi Irwin was super special because I was such a fan of her father, Steve Irwin. It was a privilege and an honor to guide his daughter through this journey.”

From 2017 to 2020, he became a judge on NBC’s “World of Dance” alongside Jennifer Lopez and Ne-Yo before returning to ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” as a judge starting in Season 29 in 2020. He also starred in the West End premiere of “Footloose: The Musical,” the TV series “Nashville” and NBC’s “Hairspray: Live!”

He married Hayley last August, just four months before her medical emergency.

“We just got married and went on tour when this all happened, it’s just wild, it’s been an absolute roller coaster,” Hough said.

“You would think that we might have a negative association to that experience and to that place, but the contrary is that we have a very positive association to that area, because it was really a special place for healing and just care, so we’re excited to go back in a different way and to just give our love, man.”
