  • Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas Spark Controversy With DWTS Giveaway

    [ad_1]

After announcing plans to send two lucky winners to the Dancing With the Stars ballroom, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas had to retract the offer.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 32, and pro dancer, 39, shared in a Friday, October 24, TikTok video that they were informed by ABC and BBC that they could not give away tickets to the live show.

“So, we have some bad news,” Leavitt said in the clip. “We just got out of rehearsal, and we were both informed that we actually can’t do a giveaway for the Dancing with the Stars live show.”

Ballas explained that the decision “has come directly from ABC and BBC and is completely out of our hands.”

“It just really sucks because Mark and I just want to do something really special for you guys that have shown us so much support and love, for us and the show,” Leavitt shared. “We’re gonna get creative.”

Ballas echoed Leavitt, noting that the pair are “gonna think of something else to give away.”

Users quickly took to the comments section to weigh in on the video. “No kidding… ‘vote for us and I’ll give you a gift’ that’s rigging the whole thing,” one user wrote, while another added, “It would be like bribing the audience. Of course they aren’t allowed to do that. It’s a competition. 😂.”

Some users, however, defended Leavitt and Ballas — who have already received backlash from fans primarily due to the reality star’s dance background.

Related: DWTS’ Mark and Whitney Debate What ‘Mistake’ Carrie Ann Called Out

Dancing With the Stars season 34 couple Mark Ballas and Whitney Leavitt are still confused about what mishap judge Carrie Ann Inaba was referring to after their performance. “I will watch [the dance] back tonight,” Mark, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly after the Tuesday, September 23, show. “Because honestly, it starts, you blink and then […]

“If it was anyone else, these comments would not be half as hateful,” one user added. “I have NEVER seen ‘fans’ be this cruel to contestants and PROS and I’ve been watching since I was a child. Such gross behavior tbh… thank you for trying to do something nice for the people sending love your way!”

Another added, “I genuinely don’t understand why everyone always acts like she has bad intentions? Just wanting to do something nice… we love you Whitney!”

Leavitt and Ballas have been at the top of the leaderboard since the competition began in September, earning a near perfect score — and the first 10s of the season — during last week’s Wicked Night.

“I’m very grateful, but [it] also feels like a big reward,” Leavitt exclusively told Us Weekly after the live show. “Mark and I worked really hard on that dance. That’s the most intimidating dance I’ve done so far. It’s just, like, when we finished that last pose, I felt like I could breathe.”

Ballas, who choreographed the number, gushed that he was “very proud.”

“This one was a hustle,” Ballas told Us. “It’s a lot of work [and] a lot of detail went into this. I just always say, like, ‘As long as you finish and you feel like you did the best and it felt good, that’s the goal.’ It’s nothing worse than finishing and being like, ‘Dang it, I could have done better.’”

The pair are set to perform a jazz to Green Day’s “Brain Stew” for DWTS’ Halloween Night on Tuesday, October 28, while also competing in a “Monster Night Monster-thon” dance relay.

Dancing With the Stars premieres on ABC and Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET, with new episodes streaming the next day on Hulu.

  • Whitney Leavitt has “bad news” for fans after DWTS rehearsal

    [ad_1]

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt had disappointing news to share with her followers on Friday after her rehearsal for Dancing With the Stars, when she had to cancel a giveaway.

    The Context

Leavitt, who is a favorite to win the current season of the competition show, told her followers on Thursday that she was giving away two tickets to Tuesday’s live show, including flights and hotels. All people had to do was comment on their favorite Mark Ballas meme. Ballas is Leavitt’s professional dance partner.

However, Leavitt updated fans on Friday that the giveaway would no longer happen.

    What To Know

In a TikTok post after Friday’s rehearsal, Leavitt told her followers that she had some “bad news.” She went on to say that she and Ballas were told they couldn’t do the giveaway and that the decision was “completely out of our hands.”

“This has come directly from ABC and BBC,” Balas said.

Leavitt added that it “sucks” because they wanted to do something special for their supporters, and that they would “get creative” and find another way to show how grateful they are for the support they’ve received.

Some users commented on Leavitt’s post that she should have asked the “higher-ups” at the networks if they could do a giveaway before announcing it. Some other users commented that it made sense the giveaway was canceled because it could come across as a bribe for votes. Others wanted to know which meme won the contest, even if the prize wouldn’t be given out.

Newsweek reached out to Leavitt and the BBC via email for comment.

On Tuesday, during Wicked night, Leavitt and Balas got the first 10s of the season. She performed a quickstep to the song “Popular,” and judge Derek Hough said he felt like they were “discovering a star before our eyes.”

Leavitt has had extensive dance training, studying it in college. Judge Carrie Ann Arbor said on Tuesday that even though Leavitt was a “great dancer” when she started out on the show, the reality TV star is “getting better with each performance.”

Leavitt’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives castmate, Jen Affleck, also had a positive night on Tuesday. She earned her highest score yet with a 32 out of 40, and Hough said it seemed like she was “connected” to the dance. Affleck noted that she related to Elphaba from Wicked because she felt like an outcast when she moved to a mostly white school in Utah and didn’t make the dance company or cheer team.

Along with Leavitt, Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles also got her first 10s of the season, scoring 39 out of 40 points, the same score as Leavitt.

    What People Are Saying

A TikTok user commented on Whitney Leavitt’s post: “Maybe do a giveaway to the SLOMW premiere or something! Would be so fun still.”

Whitney Leavitt, commenting back on the user’s suggestion: “ooooo wait this is a great idea!!!!”

    What Happens Next

Dancing With the Stars will continue on Tuesday night and has a few weeks left until the finale, which airs on November 25.

  • DWTS season 34: all of the 2025 theme nights leading up to the big finale

    [ad_1]

Dancing with the Stars loves a good theme. Following this year’s Sept. 16 premiere, season 34 of DWTS has featured the following themes: One-Hit Wonders Night (where couples danced to songs that you loved by artists you never heard from again), TikTok Night (featuring songs that have gone viral on the social media platform), Disney Night (a classic DWTS theme, brought to you by some ABC/Disney corporate synergy) and Dedication Night (another staple in the DWTS world in which contestants dedicate their performances to someone meaningful in their lives).

And as the competition heats up, the themes continue to get more creative. These are all of the theme nights DWTS has planned for the rest of the 2025 season.

    Week 6: Wicked Night

Oct. 21 is Wicked Night, where the top 10 remaining couples will perform to songs from Wicked and Wicked: For Good, including “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” “Dancing Through Life” and “For Good.” Jon M. Chu, the director of both films, will serve as a guest judge. ABC has also said that the show will feature “special video messages” from the cast, including Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh.

    Week 7: Halloween Night

Three days before Halloween, the DWTS ballroom will get spooky with one of their annual traditions.

Week 8: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night

Entering the final month of DWTS shows, Nov. 4 is Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Night. While this specific theme hasn’t been done before, DWTS has previously done similar iterations to celebrate rock and roll anthems, including last year’s Hair Metal Night.

    Week 9: DWTS’s 20th birthday party

Can you believe it’s been 20 whole years of DWTS? Nov. 11 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the celebrity ballroom competition show.

    Week 10: Prince Night (Semi-Finals)

DWTS contestants are going to party like it’s 1999 on Nov. 18, when the show celebrates Prince Night in honor of the legendary music artist. DWTS typically does one night a season dedicated to a specific artist (previous seasons have celebrated Taylor Swift, Michael Bublé and Whitney Houston). While songs haven’t been announced yet, host Alfonso Ribiero has claimed Prince Night as “my night,” teasing some fun costumes he plans to show off.

    Week 11: Finale

Nov. 25, just two days before Thanksgiving, wraps up the end of DWTS season 34 with a three-hour finale that will culminate in one of the remaining (usually four or five) dance pairs taking home the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy.

  • Did Derek Hough accidentally let his soon-to-be baby’s gender slip on ‘DWTS’?

    [ad_1]

Hayley Erbert Hough quizzes her husband, Derek Hough, on pregnancy and labor.

    Screengrab from @derekhough’s Instagram.

Derek Hough has yet to reveal his baby’s gender — but he has had a few close encounters.

During the Oct. 14 episode of “Dancing with the Stars,” the 40-year-old former pro and current judge was sharing his opinion on Jordan Chiles’ Viennese waltz performance to “Daughters” by John Mayer.

For the dance, Chiles — an Olympic gold medalist — was accompanied by her father, Timothy Chiles.

“Watching you two dance really made me excited to have that own, my own moment with my…” Hough said of the dance before stopping himself. “My own child.”

A clip of the exchange was shared on TikTok by celebrity blogger Scoop the Stars.

“It’s so beautiful,” Hough continued, according to People. “There’s a tenderness. It was simple. There was a care to it. It was just a really beautiful dance. And I hope you both cherish that moment.”

Fans were quick to point out the close call on social media, with some users joking that Derek Hough’s wife, Hayley Erbert Hough, must’ve been upset after the exchange.

“Oooooppp I think Derek just pretty much said he’s having a girl, almost slipped. But eeeep,” one fan wrote on X.

“Did Derek Hough just almost subtly announce he’s having a baby girl? And is his wife fuming right now?” another fan wrote on X.

The near-slipup comes three months after the couple shared some exciting news with their fans.

On July 22, Hough and Erbert — who tied the knot in 2023 after nearly eight years of dating, per E! News — announced that they were expecting their first child together.

“Already so loved,” he wrote in an Instagram caption alongside a photo of them holding ultrasound photos.

Derek Hough and wife Hayley Erbert are waiting to reveal their baby’s gender

During a Sept. 3 appearance on “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Hough explained why he and his wife haven’t revealed the baby’s gender — and why they plan on waiting until birth.

“Yeah. You know, there’s not a lot of surprises in life, right? We’re going to keep that one to ourselves,” Hough said on the show, per People. “So yeah, it’s going to be exciting. Can’t wait.”

The couple came close to letting the surprise slip (for the first time) earlier this month.

In a clip posted on Hough’s Instagram Story, which was later shared by a fan, the dancer was talking about how he just felt his baby kick.

“Guys, I just felt the baby kick. What the freak? That’s the weirdest thing ever,” he joked before his wife appeared to say, “And she said ‘Hiya!’”

Hough clarified in a separate Instagram Story that his wife didn’t say “she” in the video — shooting down any speculation that the couple are having a baby girl.

On Sept. 2, Erbert revealed what her baby’s gender would be if “Old Wives’ Tales” were accurate.

Despite nearly letting it slip that they’re having a girl (twice), most signs are pointing toward the couple having a boy — including the lack of morning sickness and mood swings, savory cravings and no acne.

Erbert also alluded to her low baby bump position and lower fetal heart rate as signs of a boy.

On the flip side, Erbert said her weight gain and bigger breasts point to her having a baby girl — but her husband’s lack of weight gain might be a sign that they’re having a boy.

As has been their plan from the jump, the couple are letting fans run wild with their baby gender predictions.

  • Hilaria Baldwin On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Exit: “I Did Get Bullied Off The Show”

    [ad_1]

Hilaria Baldwin was eliminated from Dancing with the Stars and says she was “bullied off the show.”

Alec Baldwin’s wife took to social media to make a claim that shocked everyone following her exit from the ABC competition show.

“I did get bullied off the show,” she said on an Instagram Live on October 12 after heavy criticism on social media. “I did, that’s for sure. That is for sure.”

Despite feeling animosity from viewers, Baldwin did say she enjoyed her time on the show.

“I’m so grateful for this experience that I had on Dancing with the Stars,” she said. “I never thought I would dance again, and I have all of you to thank for writing into the show and making this wild experience happen. I’m so blessed that I got to share this with my family. I loved everybody I met there, and I’m really excited to cheer on my cast mates.”

This was not the first time that Hilaria talked about all the negativity surrounding her during her time on Dancing with the Stars. In a video posted on October 11 for World Mental Health Day, she said, “I would be remiss if I didn’t address the elephant in the room, which is that there was some bullying going on aimed at me over the past few weeks.”

She continued, “One of the most common things that people say to me when they meet me—when they actually meet me—is how surprised they are by the negativity that I receive because in reality, I am none of the negative things that some people say, and that breaks my heart.”

“They take lives and they demolish mental health, and it’s tragic how rampant this behavior is, and countless suffer daily,” she said. “Some of the people who have harassed me for years and misrepresented and outright have lied about me, I know that they’ll only be satisfied when I’m gone. It seems that nothing I can say or do will be right in their eyes.”

    [ad_1]

The “Boy Meets World” cast is got back together to support Topanga.

During Tuesday’s dedication night on “Dancing With the Stars,” Danielle Fishel danced to the theme song from the hit sitcom in a number honoring William Daniels, who played Mr. George Feeny.

Fishel danced a jive with her partner, Pasha Pashkov. Daniels, 98, join the duo in the routine. She received the score of a 29 of 40, receiving her first 8 of the season.

Many members from the cast were also in the audience, including Will Friedle (Eric Matthews), Betsy Randle (Amy Matthews), William Russ (Alan Matthews), Trina McGee (Angela Moore), Bonnie Bartlett (Lila Bolander and Williams’ wife), and Alex Désert (Eli Williams).

“The fabulous group of people who will be joining me at DWTS tomorrow for Dedication night! I feel such an overwhelming responsibility to give a full out, joyous, celebratory dance to the man who is responsible for THOUSANDS of people becoming teachers and who has helped raise multiple generations,” Fishel captioned her Instagram announcing the cast set to attend. “This dance is a dedication from me to Bill but I am representing ALL OF YOU who loved and appreciated him and his career for so many decades. Unfortunately, @rider_strong is working out of town but he will be missed.”

She previously opened up about the routine.

“Saying it out loud feels crazy. But yes, we get to dance to the ‘Boy Meets World’ theme song, the one you all know and love,” she previously shared on her “Danielle With the Stars” podcast. “I’m so excited. It’s really a dedication to Bill and the role he has played in my life and the role ‘Boy Meets World’ has played in my life. I have really felt like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has been a second act for me in my career and as a performer.”

She mentioned how much of an inspiration Daniels has been in her life and to many members of the TV family. She added, “To be able to say thank you to him and give him this kind of a platform for him to receive the love that he deserves is going to be very memorable. So I’m very, very excited about that. I can’t wait.”

“Boy Meets World” aired from 1993 to 2000. The cast later reunited for a spinoff, “Girl Meets World,” which aired for three seasons on Disney Channel from 2014 to 2017.

  • Former DWTS Champion & Bachelor Star Breaks Silence After DUI Arrest

    [ad_1]

Former DWTS champion, Melissa Rycroft, has opened up for the first time since her recent DUI arrest. After a fan expressed their support on one of her social media posts, The Bachelor alumna had a warm response. Following her arrest in September 2025, fans were eager for an update from Rycroft.

Melissa Rycroft says she is ‘struggling’ after getting arrested

The former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader thanked a fan who wished her well during the ongoing tough period in her personal life following her DUI arrest.

The fan shared her heartfelt message on Melissa Rycroft’s Instagram post, emphasizing that mistakes are a part of human life. Stating how they went through a similar situation in the past, they criticized the constant scrutiny faced by the DWTS alumna.

The fan further wrote, “There’s no excuse, but it happened. Don’t ever forget that you are beautiful, loved, and blessed. Be grateful that it wasn’t worse and move forward with grace.”

Rycroft responded with gratitude, saying, “@blaque_and_vegan Thank you. Life really sucks right now and I’m struggling, but I’m trying to march forward….but thank you for the sweet words in what seems like a world of negativity.”

This sweet exchange happened in the comments section of a photo featuring Melissa Rycroft and her daughter. The fan’s support comes amid the news of The Bachelor star’s arrest on September 23, 2025, for driving under the influence in Southlake, Texas.

According to the Southlake Police Department press release, they lodged a report for a single-vehicle accident. On the scene, the officers found “a black Cadillac Escalade that had struck a tree.” After initial sobriety tests on the scene, the officers arrested Rycroft. (via People)

The press release stated, “Prior to the crash, witnesses reportedly observed the Escalade driving erratically.” It concluded with, “No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported. The case remains under investigation.”

The authorities eventually released Melissa Rycroft after she fulfilled a $1,000 bond. Later, her lawyer, Bret Martin, issued a statement to People. He said, “We respectfully request that the media and the public allow the legal process to unfold. And withhold any judgment whatsoever until all of the evidence has been properly analyzed and presented in a court of law.”

  • Heather Rae El Moussa Says Tarek Was Asked to Join Dancing With The Stars

    [ad_1]

Heather Rae El Moussa and husband Tarek El Moussa are already HGTV legends — but would they ever compete on Dancing With the Stars?

“Tarek was [approached] back in the day,” Heather, 38, exclusively told Us Weekly on Wednesday, October 8, while promoting her beauty brand, Heather Rae Essentials.

She noted that despite being offered a spot on DWTS years prior, Tarek, 44, isn’t the most confident dancer.

“The man can dance a little. I don’t think he thinks he can,” Heather shared, adding that she would “totally be open to it.”

    Phillip Faraone/Getty Images

Heather told Us she’d rather do the ABC competition series as a couple — especially since she and Tarek work so well together.

“I think it would be fun to do Dancing With the Stars together and, like, [the] competition [of it all],” she said, teasing, “May the best couple win!”

When asked whether she would like to compete against Tarek’s ex-wife, Christina Haack — who is also their The Flip Off costar — Heather confessed, “I don’t think Christina would do it.”

Heather Rae El Moussa didn’t get the feedback she was expecting after sharing her attempt to learn a new dance. “Day 1 learning how to twerk,” Heather, 36, captioned an Instagram Reel on Monday, June 17, which also featured her husband, Tarek El Moussa. “How’d I do? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Be nice guys 😂.” Tarek, 42, quickly […]

Though Christina, 42, “doesn’t like dancing,” Heather would say, “Let’s go!”

Haack was married to Tarek for seven years before they split in 2016, finalizing their divorce two years later. The former couple share two children: Taylor, 15, and Brayden, 10.

After their divorce, Haack and Tarek continued to cohost Flip or Flop until the series came to an end in 2022.

Heather, meanwhile, began dating Tarek in summer 2019, two years before tying the knot in 2021. The pair welcomed their first child, son Tristan, in 2023.

The married couple starred on HGTV’s The Flipping El Moussas for two seasons before teaming up with Haack for The Flip Off earlier this year. During season 1 of the show, Haack briefly worked with her now-ex Joshua Hall, competing against Tarek and Heather to see who could do the better house flip.

Despite her divorce drama with Hall, Haack continued to mesh well with Tarek and Heather on their show, which was renewed for a second season.

“It’s all about winning,” Heather told Us on Wednesday of her and Tarek’s approach to the new season. “We do not want her to win. I feel like, you know, she’s motivated right now because she wants to beat us. We won the first round, and so we got to really, really be on our game.”

As Haack prepares for redemption, Heather is focused on growing her beauty brand, Heather Rae Essentials, which features clean, everyday products for every woman.

“I launched Heather Rae Essentials back in February. On Valentine’s Day,” Heather recalled to Us.. “I like to make a big splash. … We sold out in 48 hours.”

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Hilaria Baldwin has taken her final bow in the “Dancing with the Stars” ballroom.

During Tuesday’s episode of the dancing competition show, Baldwin and her partner Gleb Savchenko danced the quickstep to a song from “Star Wars: A New Hope” for the show’s Disney night. She portrayed Princess Leia.

After her dance, she got rave reviews from the judges, including Bruno Tonioli, who told her, “I was looking for something wrong, I didn’t see it.”

Baldwin received a higher score from the judges than fan favorite comedian Andy Richter, but she didn’t receive enough votes from the viewers to keep her in the competition.

“This has been an incredible experience,” she said after she was voted off, adding that she said she was grateful to her children and her family and she was cheering on everyone in the cast.

Some of her children could be seen in the audience cheering her on, but her husband Alec Baldwin wasn’t. He was seen rooting for the 41-yearold last week.

The mom of seven gave a stellar performance with Savchenko during the show’s premiere as Alec and other members of her family in the audience cheered her on earlier this month.

“It’s such a dream to have my family here,” she told Fox News Digital after the show’s premiere.

Ahead of her debut dance to Jennifer Lopez’s “Let’s Get Loud,” Hilaria took her rehearsals with Savchenko from Los Angeles to New York, where she lives with Alec and their seven children.

“With one week to go, I’m taking Gleb to New York, where I live. I’m so excited to share this experience with my family,” she said in the “DWTS” package before her live performance.

“She’s a hard worker,” Alec told the “DWTS” camera while sitting in on Hilaria’s rehearsal. “This was her life until she got injured, so she’s just going to give it everything she has. I’m proud of her, very proud of her.”

“So, Alec is doing a movie right now,” Hilaria told Fox News Digital after the show. “He’s doing a movie, he’s doing a show, he’s been traveling so much. He’ll be here next week, but we’re juggling.”

“We had a certain plan to be in New York right now and then all of a sudden the universe opened and I was offered this incredible experience. And so I packed up all the kids and in a day. I signed the contract to do ‘Dancing with the Stars’ in between landing and getting our luggage. This has been a really wild whirlwind that I’m so grateful for, and it’s imposed some shifting,” she said.

Hilaria previously told People magazine that Alec has been “supportive” throughout her “Dancing with the Stars” journey thus far.

“He’s been wanting me to do this show for a very long time, and he has been very supportive and he’s very happy for this,” she said. “I’ve supported him through a lot, and I think he’s excited to do this.”

“I mean, it’s not just the experience and how warm and welcoming this environment is and everybody here in ‘Dancing with the Stars’ family, but this was something … I loved to dance, and I didn’t do it on the same level as [Gleb], but I loved it a lot,” Hilaria previously told Fox News Digital. “And then I broke my hip and all of a sudden I was in a wheelchair and I thought I would never dance again. I just closed that chapter. I closed that door.”

“So to be here dancing with [Gleb], specifically him, he’s so about technique and mentality and all of the stuff that my nerdy dancer self loves, it’s just a dream come true. He’s nicer to me than I am to myself. I feel like we’re very similar. It’s so interesting, the science of how they pair people together, and I think that we’re very similar in some very surprising ways.”

  • ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Week 4 Ends With Another Shocking Elimination

    [ad_1]

After last week’s rather awkward tribute to TikTok, Dancing with the Stars returned to familiar ground Tuesday with its popular Disney Night. After a Mandy Moore-choreographed opener to “Be My Guest,” the duos opened their rehearsal packages with corny stand-ups from Disneyland to help celebrate the park’s 70th year in Anaheim.

But if you really want to talk about the Happiest Place on Earth right now, it’s gotta be the DWTS ballroom. The ABC show once again shattered voting records last week, much to the despair of poor Lauren Jauregui who unexpectedly got the boot. Most viewers thought it was Andy Richter’s time to go, but the Fifth Harmony crooner went home, instead.

    Is it Richter’s turn tonight?

Comedian Andy Richter with partner Emma Slater. Richter was the cook to Slater’s rat for their unremarkable Viennese waltz to a tune from Ratatouille. It was far from a chef’s kiss but Richter is downright adorable when owning his mediocrity. “Andy, you produce such memorable moments,” said Carrie Ann Inaba. “We are, though, at week 4 … we’re gonna be looking for more content. I want you to challenge yourself more.” SCORE: 18 out of 30

Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World) with Pasha Pashkov. Fishel vowed to go all out this week with her Jungle Book themed-quickstep to “I Wanna Be Like You,” but she still got dinged by Bruno Tonioli for failing to keep the beat. “Once you went into the quickstep was very very good but you were off timing, my darling,” he said. SCORE: 21 out of 30

Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying with Rylee Arnold. Hoying feels like he has finally “broken out of his shell” but his slightly-better-than-average salsa didn’t quite have the same wow factor as last week’s jazz performance. Making matters worse, he had to do it to “Bop to the Top” from High School Musical, which is about as Cuban as the white-bread characters who performed it in the 2006 TV movie. The judges cut him a break, though. “That’s what happens with the confidence kicks in,” said Inaba. “You razzle-dazzled with that salsa.” SCORE: 21 out of 30

ANDY RICHTER, EMMA SLATER (Disneyland Resort, Sean Teegarden)

Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin with Witney Carson. Irwin has a funny habit of either mouthing words or chewing on air when dancing, but that’s small note for his otherwise splendid cha cha to the way-too-slow “Try Everything” from Zootopia. “You just have that Irwin aura,” said Derek Hough. “You can’t help but smile when watching you perform. Your upper half is so strong.” SCORE: 22 out of 30

Author and influencer Hilaria Baldwin and Gleb Savchenko. Baldwin’s quickstep to the cantina song from Star Wars was out of this world! Hough argued that her “quickstep” needed more quickstep but his fellow judges disagreed. So did I. “Princess Leia, the force is still with you,” said Tonioli, in reference to her Carrie Fisher-inspired costume. “Whatever you did, worked. I actually watched very, very closely what you did tonight, really analyzing. I was looking for something wrong. I didn’t see it.” SCORE: 23 out of 30

Jen Affleck (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives) with Jan Ravnik. The Mormon mama closed the show with an acrobat-filled jazz routine to a song from Aladdin that truly embodied the Disney theme. And Ravnik makes a terrific genie! Oddly, Inaba wasn’t blown away. “You are living the Disney dream right now. Great performance,” she said. “But something about it didn’t set me over the top. Boo me! I think you need to make it a little more challenging as we move forward.” SCORE: 23 out 30

Reality TV star Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach. Efron’s perky quickstep to the Cars song “Life is a Highway” kept him in the judges’ good graces, who clearly appreciate his good looks and week-to-week growth. “Dylan McQueen, the quickstep king!” said Hough. “So impressed with that left arm, you were keeping that strong all the way through.” SCORE: 23 out of 30

Social media personality Alix Earle with Val Chmerkovskiy. Bravo to Chmerkovskiy, who offered a fresh take on the Cinderella classic “One Upon a Dream” by having Earle dress as Maleficent for their dark and evocative Viennese waltz. “Alix, that was mesmerizing,” said Hough. “It was magical, it was spellbinding … I disagree with Carrie Ann last week. This was your best dance.” SCORE: 24 out of 30

Actor Elaine Hendrix with Alan Bersten. Poor Bersten had his work cut out for him this week, having to choreograph a killer quickstep to the theme song from …. Space Mountain?! But Bersten and the stage managers (who trotted out some bitchen lasers) gave Hendrix the ride of her life. “That was a complicated routine,” said Hough. “You didn’t miss a beat.” SCORE: 24 out of 30

Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles with Ezra Sosa. The gymnast’s quickstep to a spirited tune from The Princess and the Frog had the judges raving about her natural ballroom ability. “This kind of dance is why people love Disney night. You brought it to life. When you dance it’s fun, it’s animated but it’s also authentic.” SCORE: 24 out of 30

MARK BALLAS, WHITNEY LEAVITT (Disney/Christopher Willard)

Whitney Leavitt (The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives) with Mark Ballas. Look who just became the frontrunner! The duo’s foxtrot to “Room Where it Happens” From Hamilton was an absolute stunner and deserved to close the show (sorry, Affleck). “There is traditional foxtrot and then there is Mark’s foxtrot,” said Inaba. “While I was watching, my lip was quivering. It was so good. The precision, the technicality, the painting of that picture was incredible. Insane.” SCORE: 25 out of 30

Host Alfonso Ribeiro began the eliminations by announcing how the show just exceeded 40 million votes. Yowza!

Bottom three were Richter, Baldwin and Fishel. In another shocker elimination, Baldwin was sent home. The influencer was gracious about her departure, though. No words about feeling pissed from this one!

“This has been an incredible experience,” she said. “I’m so grateful to all of you. And I’m grateful to my children and my family! Thank you guys for this. I’m cheering on everybody in the cast because this has been an amazing time.”

  • Carrie Ann Inaba Narrowly Avoids Wardrobe Malfunction on DWTS

    [ad_1]

Carrie Ann Inaba is officially back at the judges’ table on Dancing With the Stars after missing the season 34 premiere.

Inaba, 57, was welcomed back with a jive from Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy during the Tuesday, September 23, episode to kick off One-Hit Wonders Night. The pair ultimately earned 21 points for their dance to Lou Bega‘s “Mambo No. 5.”

“Thank you for making that my first dance, because that was incredible!” Inaba gushed on Tuesday. “You blew me away … You are such a great performer, you’re fun and there’s a freshness to you. And I can tell it’s all new, but it makes it so much fun.”

Later in the night, Inaba’s enthusiasm nearly made for a viral moment. After sharing her thoughts on Mark Ballas and Whitney Leavitt‘s cha-cha to “Play That Funky Music” by Wild Cherry, Inaba could be heard saying, “Oh hi, boob pad,” as the camera panned away.

One week prior, Inaba announced just hours before the September 16 premiere that she would not be in the ballroom due to her health. “I wanted to share that I will not be at the show tonight as I am feeling quite under the weather. I’m resting up and can’t wait to be back next week in good health,” she wrote via Instagram. “In the meantime, I wish all the contestants the very best of luck. I’ll be cheering you on from home. 🤍🙏 Have a great show everyone! 🪩💃🏻🕺🏻⭐️.”

The Dancing With the Stars season 34 premiere threw Us a few curveballs as the latest group of celebs and pros officially hit the ballroom floor. The first shakeup came hours before the Tuesday, September 16, broadcast began, with judge Carrie Ann Inaba revealing via social media that she wouldn’t be part of the first […]

Fans and fellow DWTS stars sent their well-wishes in the comments section, including cohost Julianne Hough, who wrote, “Get better soon sis ❤️‍🩹.”

Inaba’s absence was felt as the season 34 cast hit the ballroom floor for the first time. Before the fun began, Julianne, 37, and Alfonso Ribeiro sent a heartfelt shout-out to Inaba.

“It’s great to have all of you at home joining us in the ballroom and wonderful to see our judges. Well, two of them,” Ribeiro, 54, teased. “Carrie Ann is under the weather and hopes to be back with us next week.”

Judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli were left to hand out scores on a scale of 20 points, as opposed to the usual 30.

“The scoring tonight, just be mindful, it might be a little lower than you’re expecting because there’s a long way to go. This is a marathon. We want to give you guys room to grow,” Derek, 40, explained after the first routine of the night.

As her colleagues took to the ballroom, Inaba gave a glimpse via her Instagram Story of how she watched the episode from home. One day later, she celebrated the cast’s impressive debut.

“Bravo to the whole cast and crew of @dancingwiththestars,” Inaba captioned an Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 17. “That was an incredible premiere episode! And thank YOU all for the well wishes. I’m touched at all the messages of support I [received] and for the respectful way the show handled a very human situation. And BRAVO to everyone for those incredible performances!”

Inaba has been a judge on DWTS since its premiere in 2005, as has Tonioli, 69. Following his years spent as a pro dancer, Derek made his first appearance as a judge during season 29 in 2020.

  • Alfonso Ribeiro Explains How DWTS Routines Are Scored After Live Flub

    [ad_1]

A live flub forced Dancing With the Stars cohost Alfonso Ribeiro to explain how routines are scored in the ballroom.

After Mark Ballas and Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Whitney Leavitt hit the dance floor during the season 34 premiere on Tuesday, September 16, the pair received positive feedback from judges Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli. (Fellow judge Carrie Ann Inaba announced before the broadcast began that she was sitting out from the premiere due to illness.)

Both Hough, 40, and Tonioli, 69, held up panels with sevens on them when giving their scores, seemingly indicating that the pair earned a 14 out of 20. However, cohost Julianne Hough later revealed from the sky box that there was a mistake.

“Bruno actually put in an eight, so we have to correct it. It’s a 15,” she told Ballas, 39, and Leavitt, 32. “We love live television!”

After the commercial break, Ribeiro, 53, gave a more detailed breakdown of how dances are scored. “Just to clarify something, our judges key in their scores right after the dance and then they are locked regardless of which paddle they hold up. We go with their locked score. So Bruno keyed in an 8, so Whitney’s total was 15.”

Earlier in the night, Derek gave a warning about the scores that would be shown. “The scoring tonight, just be mindful, it might be a little lower than you’re expecting because there’s a long way to go,” he explained after Jordan Chiles and pro Ezra Sosa opened the show. “This is a marathon. We want to give you guys room to grow.”

The Olympian received a total score of 10 out of 20, as did Dylan Efron and pro Daniella Karagach. Ribeiro hinted that the studio audience wasn’t too pleased with seeing the lower scores.

Pros and celebs have been candid through the years about the judges’ feedback. In 2022, Sasha Farber told Us Weekly he thought Derek was “the most intimidating” of all the judges.

“You never know what he’s thinking. He’s always got this stone cold look and then [his score] could be, like, really bad. [Or] then he’s like, ‘That was great,’” he said in an exclusive interview at the time, joking, “It’s just his face.”

Two years later, pro Gleb Savchenko compared Derek to the late Len Goodman — but Derek wasn’t so sure.

“I wish I was as good as Len,” Derek exclusively told Us in 2024. “[He’s] absolutely irreplaceable. … His phrases and his ‘Lenisms’ were just iconic.”

Derek explained at the time that he likes to pay attention to the little details, adding, “It’s always hard, especially in these first couple of weeks, because there’s so little time to say something. I feel like I’m rushing it trying to get it in.”

  • DWTS‘ Jan Ravnik Revealed the Advice Taylor Swift Gave to Him Before Becoming a Pro

    [ad_1]

Jan Ravnik is moving from the stadium to the ballroom. Taylor Swift‘s former Eras Tour dancer is making his debut on Dancing With the Stars, and he’s keeping his experiences close to his heart.

When asked by E! News about what he learned from the “Lover” singer, he said, “Just to be an icon and be true to yourself. She’s amazing.” The dancer, who had appeared in all stops of Taylor’s monumental Eras tour, also reacted to the news of her getting engaged to Travis Kelce. He told the outlet he’s “happy” for her like the rest of the world. “She deserves the best.”

His partner, Jennifer Affleck of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives fame, also reacted to the news. “I found out who my partner was on the same day that she got engaged. I was like, ‘What is going on right now?’ ” she said. “Like, yeah, it’s a dream come true.”

The professional dancer has won competitions all over the globe and has danced for artists like Paula Abdul, Bruno Mars, and Lewis Capaldi. Before he embarked on the Eras tour, he also danced for Mariah Carey during her Christmas tour.

At the end of the Eras tour in December 2024, Ravnik expressed his utmost gratitude for his experience. “I never imagined I’d be performing in front of sold out stadiums across the globe. Night after night, I got to share the stage with the most dedicated, creative, and passionate people. 🤍 From my fellow dancers who inspired me to be better every day, to the band and bgv, the crew, and everyone behind the scenes who made the magic happen,” he wrote on Instagram. “A special thank you to @nopenother for her visionary choreography and guidance that pushed me to grow as an artist. • Dylan Efron Just Revealed How Close Zac Got to Getting Cast on DWTS Before Him…

    [ad_1]

Dylan Efron has the vote of the entire Efron family as he competes for the Len Goodman Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With the Stars Season 34, and that includes the support of his older brother, Zac.

“My dad is super excited,” Dylan told Us Weekly in September 2025. “He has little kids, four and five. They’re all super excited. My mom was honestly just shocked. She’s just like, ‘Where’d this come from?’ My brother is supportive.”

Related: See Zac Efron before and after his surgery

As for whether Zac will be in the audience, Dylan revealed that his brother attended a Dancing With the Stars taping “a long time ago” and had a positive experience. “He’s like, ‘The best part is going to be those live shows.’ He was saying, like, it’s such a good feeling,” Dylan said before teasing whether viewers could see Zac in the crowd: “We’ll see.”

As for whether any of his routines on Dancing With the Stars could nod to High School Musical, the Disney Channel original that made Zac a household name, Dylan shut down the idea. “No,” he said before his partner and professional dancer explained, “We’re standing our own. We’re going to do our own thing.”

Related: See Zac Efron’s girlfriends and dating history

In an interview with People at the time, Dylan also revealed that his mother, Starla Baskett, was originally rooting for Zac to compete on Dancing With the Stars two decades before Dylan’s own debut on the show. “My mom, her dream was Zac doing the show 20 years ago,” Dylan said. “So I’m really excited for my mom to be there.” (Dancing With the Stars premiered in 2005, a year before High School Musical‘s debut.)

Dylan continued, “But also, my dad and my little brother and little sister. It’s gonna make me tear up to see them in the stands.”

In an interview with People in February 2025, Dylan also explained how growing up with Zac positively affected him as an adult. “I was really shy as a kid,” he said. “I didn’t have social media until I was probably 25, 26. I was very private. And then every year, growing more and more confident, posting more on social and realizing that my life being posted on social media has led to reality [shows] being an option because I’m playing myself online.”

Dylan also confirmed that Zac didn’t give him any advice for Season 3 of The Traitors, which Dylan won along with Gabby Windey, Dolores Catania, and Lord Ivar Mountbatten. “Zac’s an actor. If I was going into act for something, he would be the first one to give me some tips, but this is a different realm,” Dylan said. “This is more towards social media, which I do. So Zac showing his support was all I needed, but he’s not going to give me tips because he has no idea how these shows work.”

  • Why ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Star Taylor Frankie Paul as ‘Bachelorette’ Is a Franchise-Saving Move

    [ad_1]

That leads us to the shrewd bit of cross-pollination happening for ABC and Hulu, owned by the same parent company in Disney. After testing the waters with a Mormon Wives crossover on Hulu’s Vanderpump Villa earlier this year, then casting not one, but two cast members for Dancing With the Stars, the burgeoning reality television universe will triple dip by casting Paul as Bachelorette. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season three returns on November 13 and The Bachelorette is slated for a 2026 debut. This shores up the streaming-first Mormon Wives audience, helping to lure key viewership demographics back to the brand’s broadcast offerings. And that transfer can’t come soon enough: The premiere episode of Bachelor in Paradise season 10 earned roughly 3.2 million fewer viewers than season two of Mormon Wives, both of which aired this year.

Those in the know have long been calling for the outsourcing of leads. “They should take any single guy from Love Island season seven—he’s the next Bachelor,” Chad Kultgen, cohost of popular Bachelor podcast Game of Roses and coauthor of How to Win the Bachelor, told Vanity Fair earlier this year. “They have done the work for you, made these people superstars in the reality dating TV format. That’s how they should be thinking.”

The powers that be, including newly instated showrunner Scott Teti, former executive producer of Bravo’s Summer House, appear to have been listening. Before Taylor was announced as the next Bachelorette, fans originally believed the news would reveal the lead of The Bachelor’s landmark 30th season due to scheduling. Previously, The Bachelorette aired in the spring or summer, followed by Paradise, then The Bachelor in January. The franchise last cast a lead from outside of its pool of Instagrammable suitors for season 25 in Matt James, who became the first-ever Black Bachelor. Although, he was best known on social media as a close friend of The Bachelorette runner-up Tyler Cameron.

Even the manner in which Taylor was announced feels fresh. This is the first time a lead hasn’t been announced on an ABC-affiliated platform like Good Morning America or an After the Final Rose special. Cooper as conduit for such news feels like acknowledgment that a young female audience tunes into her podcast—and that the podcasting realm itself is key to sustaining The Bachelor’s relevance. Further proof: Former Bachelor Nick Viall, host of the popular Viall Files podcast, hosted the season two Mormon Wives reunion. And the last Paradise reunion was not filmed on an ABC soundstage, but recorded for the official Bachelor Happy Hour podcast.

There will be inevitable growing pains with such a shake-up—the ABC audience has previously been less forgiving of unapologetic women—and Paul has already said that she’ll require any husband of hers to relocate to Utah. (Hope he has his Swig order down!) But this only further stokes the intrigue that comes with casting Paul—who is well-versed in making must-see TV. “The more open you are, the more backlash you can get,” she told VF in May, “but also the more relatable you are.”

  • Nikki Glaser Wants DWTS ‘Losers Season’ Return After Early Exit

    [ad_1]

Nikki Glaser was “immediately eliminated” when she initially appeared on Dancing With the Stars — but she’s pitching a unique way to make a comeback.

“[Getting voted off] was one of the most humiliating experiences of my professional career, but it was so fun. I love the show so much,” Glaser, 41, shared during the Tuesday, September 9, episode of Jenna & Friends. “I’m dying to go back on the show. Please do a losers season, but you gotta do it soon because my hips are hurting.”

Glaser was the first contestant eliminated alongside pro Gleb Savchenko during season 27 in 2018. (The mirrorball ultimately went to radio personality Bobby Bones and Sharna Burgess).

On Tuesday, the comedian noted that since her exit, the cast has gotten better year after year, “It’s kind of always a grab bag of Cameo’s $50 celebrities, but this time, these are some people you really want to see dance,” she joked of the upcoming season 34.

Glaser added that she was particularly excited to watch Savchenko dance alongside Hilaria Baldwin. “I feel like he might win it this time,” she continued, adding that her former partner “is so hot. Gleb Savchenko is as hot as his name is disgusting. That’s how hot that guy is.”

The season 34 pairings were announced earlier this month. Other notable match-ups include Alix Earle and Val Chmerkovskiy, Dylan Efron and Daniella Karagach, Robert Irwin and Witney Carson, Whitney Leavitt and Mark Ballas, among many more.

Glaser’s comments on Tuesday weren’t the first time she’s thrown out the idea of a “losers” season for DWTS. After getting eliminated in 2018, she joked to On the Red Carpet that she was the “first announced cast member” for the new season she “just made up.”

Glaser suggested that the losers season would involve a partner swap from their original pairings in hopes of sparking a well-intentioned “rivalry” among the returning celebrities.

“It’s going to be very interesting, a very dramatic season,” she joked at the time.

Glaser clearly enjoys being on the ballroom floor. Despite being knocked out  in round one, she returned for the season 27 finale to dance alongside Bones, 45, and Burgess, 40, for the freestyle number, which received a perfect score. After the duo secured their win, Glaser took to social media to send her congratulations.

The upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars is missing some familiar faces, including Sasha Farber.

When the season 34 cast was announced via Good Morning America on Wednesday, September 3, the dancer wasn’t named as one of the pros. It appears that Farber addressed his absence from the show in a TikTok comment days before the celeb pairs were revealed.

“Sasha, this season will not be the same without you,” a comment on Farber’s TikTok posted on Monday, September 1, read. “I started watching in 2016 when I was stuck at home on leave from work, and you became a favorite.”

Farber alluded that he wouldn’t be returning with his reply, but still supported his former cast mates. (Rumors had been swirling for weeks about a DWTS cast shakeup online.)

The pair finished in eighth place that season and Farber took a break from the show. He returned as a pro for season 22 in 2016 alongside partner Kim Fields, with whom he finished in seventh place.
