Born in Salford, Manchester, she is best known for playing Janeece Bryant in the BBC hit show, Waterloo Road. Chelsee has also appeared in Hollyoaks, Casualty and Strictly Come Dancing.

What else Dancing On Ice star has Chelsee Healey been in

Chelsee has kept herself booked and busy over the years. She kick started her career with a role in Waterloo Road, and went on to become a soap legend, playing Goldie McQueen in Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

She made her Hollyoaks debut in 2016 and has remained there ever since. Chelsee also played Honey Wright in the medical drama Casualty, between 2014 and 2015.

Turning her hand to reality TV, Chelsee took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2011 – coming in second place to McFly star Harry Judd.

Chelsee Healey on tragic death of her dad

The star’s father, Brian Healey, died when he was just 28 years old from pancreatitis. Chelsee was five years old at the time.

Brian, an air-conditioning engineer, fell ill while he was holidaying in Ibiza with Chelsee, her older sister Kate and mother Beverley. Unfortunately, he was taken to hospital but never made it back to the UK.

“I was only five but I still remember things about it,” Chelsee previously shared. She added: “A couple of weeks later I was in my nanna’s living room and she came off the phone to mum before giving me a huge hug. That was her way of saying my dad had passed away. I remember it like it was yesterday.”

As Mirror reports, Chelsee continued: “I remember Dad, I know he was really cheeky. My nan says I’m just like him. She always tells me how proud he’d be of me.”

How old Chelsee Healey was in Waterloo Road

Chelsee appeared in Waterloo Road for the first time in 2006 aged 18. She played Janeece Bryant in the hit BBC show until 2012, when she decided to leave.

At the time, Chelsee revealed the reason for her quitting was down to her wanting more challenges. She told What’s On TV: “I felt I needed to. I’ve been there for six years and it was time to do different things.”

However, 11 years later, and Chelsee reprised her role as Janeece Bryant for the 12th series.

Dancing on Ice star Chelsee Healey’s lockdown scandals

In June 2020, Chelsee found herself in hot water after she reportedly attended an illegal rave during lockdown.

As Metro reports, she was caught breaching strict coronavirus lockdown rules earlier in the year when she was snapped at a rule-breaking party in Manchester.

Chelsee later apologised and told The Sun she was “stupid and irresponsible” for breaking the rules. The TV star said: “It’s hard to resist the temptation of breaking the rules but they have to be followed.” The soap star also admitted she was “truly sorry” for her “silly mistake”.

However, that wasn’t the only time Chelsee found herself in trouble during the pandemic. Earlier on in the year, she was accused of breaking the rules by travelling 200 miles to visit Jake McLean, Lauren Goodger’s ex.

    Chelsee’s secret boyfriend

Chelsee is currently loved-up with a guy called Eddie. The pair have been together for more than two years – but it wasn’t until last year when Chelsee finally revealed his identity.

Protective of her romantic life, Chelsee kept Eddie largely out of the public glare at first, often obscuring his face with emojis. However, his identity was later revealed in late 2023.

Chelsee and Eddie share one child together, a daughter called Cookie who was born in December 2023.

Actress Chelsee Healey ‘shaken’ over death of ex

Prior to her relationship with Eddie, Chelsee dated Jake McLean. The pair dated in 2020 but ended up splitting after struggling to make their long-distance romance last.

In July 2022, Jake tragically died after he was involved in a car crash in Bodrum, Turkey.

An insider at the time alleged to The Sun: “The news has understandably left Chelsee completely shaken. She knew Jake for a long time before they started seeing each other and things only ended because they lived too far apart.

“It’s obviously tragic news and Chelsee sends her condolences to all his family and friends.”

    Chelsee’s convinced criminal ex

Back in 2014, Chelsee struck up a romance with Jack Malloy – but split in July 2016.

In November 2015, Jack served five months of a year-long sentence for dangerous driving, using a vehicle without insurance and driving while disqualified.

However, the pair reunited and Chelsee found out she was pregnant with their child. Defending her ‘bad boy’ Jack at the time, Chelsee told OK!: “It can be a bit upsetting because he’s really not.

“Jack has been tarnished because of the mistakes he has made in the past, but everyone makes mistakes. It’s a shame that people jump to conclusions about him because he’s a great guy, we’re very happy together.”

Fast forward to July 2017, and Chelsee gave birth to their baby, a daughter called Coco Valentine Healey Molloy. However, not long after, Chelsee and Jack called it quits for the final time.

Chelsee Healey flashed on BBC Strictly

In 2011, Chelsee was a contestant on the ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with Pasha Kovalev and the pair finished as runners-up.

However, during one dance routine, Chelsee revealed a bit too much after suffering a wardrobe malfunction. While dancing, her dress fell down, causing a panicked Chelsee try to stop the frock from exposing more of her cleavage.

Receiving feedback from the judges, Chelsee couldn’t contain her emotion as she started to break down. Judge Alesha Dixon attempted to reassure her and said: “You have nothing to cry about, my darling. It did not distract from the dance.”

Chelsee later took to X, then known as Twitter to tell her fans: “Mortified I got upset on Strictly! Just upset that I let @PashaKovalev down! He’s worked so hard and I messed up!”

Strictly star rushes son to hospital after accident: “Another head injury to leave another scar”

Strictly Come Dancing 2016 alumni Greg Rutherford shared on Instagram that his son Rex has suffered an accident leaving him with a head injury.

Describing the incident as adding “another” scar, the retired Olympian took to social media to share Rex’s bump. Snapping a selfie whilst in the hospital, Greg likened Rex’s antics to his own.

Rex’s head injury comes after Greg suffered his own nasty injury whilst rehearsing for Dancing On Ice.

The dad-of-three took to Instagram to share that Rex had suffered an injury. He could be seen posing alongside his son who sported a bloodied bandage on his forehead.

Greg penned alongside the photo: “Back to the hospital.” He went on to explain: “It would seem we have created my EXACT replica in Rexy.

“Another head injury to leave another scar. He’s got a few more to go to match me, but he’s doing his best to catch.”

Greg shares his three children with partner, Susie Verrill. The athlete has two sons, Milo and Rex and a daughter named Daphne.

    Family life

Greg often keeps his 199K followers up to date with his family life via Instagram. He recently shared a father and son trip he enjoyed with Milo on social media.

Greg penned: “Now I’ve got my phone back, I can finally talk about what an incredible day we had on Saturday! I took Milo to Wembley for the first time to watch our team do what everyone thought was the impossible.

“We had the best time and were so looked after by @clubwembley. The seats, high fiving the players, the food. I don’t think much is going to top this! Amazing for @manchesterunited and a really special dad & son day.”

    Greg Rutherford injuries

The long-jump champion suffered an extremely painful injury on the ice ahead of a performance on Dancing On Ice in February. Whilst rehearsing, he appeared to tear his abs on the blade of an ice skate.

He wrote to social media at the time: “Although I won’t be able to skate for maybe a couple of months. I intend on getting back on the ice and keeping it up. I really do love it.”

Greg also admitted his stomach was “not in a good way”. Despite his positivity, Greg did end up missing out on the final and had to undergo surgery.

Greg previously appeared on Alexis Conran & Friends, also during February, and chatted about how he was forced to retire from long-jump due to his injuries.

Greg said: “My body isn’t what it once was anyway. And I had to retire due to injuries anyway. So it’s very tough.”

Greg also described pushing himself to the limits. He said: “But the problem is things like this then take place and then you deal with it again, which is less than ideal.”

Due to suffering several ankle injuries, Greg retired in 2018. He is well-known for claiming a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. He also won gold at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, 2014 and 2016 European Athletics Championships and 2015 World Athletics Championships.

Inside Ryan Thomas’ love life: Baby and ‘feud’ with Corrie star, long-distance fling and ‘shock split’ from Lucy Meck

Ryan Thomas is back on screens tonight – one week after being crowned the Dancing On Ice champ.

Since shooting to fame as cheeky chap Jason Grimshaw on ITV’s Coronation Street, Ryan has become a firm-favourite with the nation. The actor was just 16 years old when he set foot on the cobbles, and was propelled into stardom.

And it’s fair to say Ryan has kept busy over the years – from a stint on Celebrity Big Brother to launching his own podcast Mancs On The Mic, with his brothers. Ryan is even back on screens this week (March 16) starring on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.

And with a career that spans decades, it’s no surprise Ryan’s love life has made the headlines a few times. Although now settled with fiancée, ex-TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, Ryan’s had a few rather rocky romances. But which Corrie co-star did Ryan have a baby with? And when are he and Lucy finally getting married? Keep scrolling to find out…

Ryan Thomas and Corrie girlfriend Tina O’Brien

Corrie stars Ryan and Tina O’Brien fell in love on the cobbles back in 2003. Ryan played Jason Grimshaw on the soap before leaving, while Tina still plays Sarah Barlow.

Tina fell pregnant with Ryan’s baby and left Coronation Street in 2008 to have daughter Scarlett – who has since ventured out into the world of acting. However, Tina and Ryan split in 2009 a year after Scarlett had been born. They had been together for six years.

He said he didn’t love me any more.

Tina revealed her heartbreak over the split in an interview with New!: “He said he didn’t love me any more. That I didn’t do it for him any more. Those were his words. I was devastated.”

She has since moved on and on, New Year’s Eve in 2018, Tina O’Brien married partner Adam Crofts. The couple were engaged for two years before tying the knot after meeting in a coffee shop in 2011. They share seven-year-old son, Beau.

In 2016 Tina told The Sun: “Everyone has moved on and is in a happy place. Ryan is really happy and we [Tina and Adam] are happy, so there aren’t any issues.”

Ryan Thomas and ‘feud’ with ex-girlfriend Tina O’Brien

However, over the past few years, it seems things may have become tense behind the scenes for Ryan and Tina. In 2022, it was reported that Tina had been accused of smashing up ex-Ryan’s car.

The actress is alleged to have been involved in a furious late-night row with Ryan where a baseball bat was used on his car. According to The Sun, a wing mirror was smashed off and paintwork damaged. Sources told the paper that tempers flared after Tina had been partying with friends.

And in September last year, Tina appeared to have reignited her ‘feud’ with Ryan in a now-deleted social media post. The actress is said to have shared a quote on her Instagram Story, aimed at “tyrannical narcissistic fathers”, as Mirror reports.

    Ryan’s long-distance romance

In 2016, Ryan enjoyed a brief romance with Lana Martin, who he reportedly met on a night out in Manchester.

The pair were said to have been in a long-distance relationship from February – but broke up after later that year. With Ryan living in London at the time, and Lana in Edinburgh, they called it quits reportedly down to the travel.

Speaking to The Sun at the time, a source claimed: “Ryan and Lana really tried hard to find time for each other, but they both lead busy lives and became more and more distanced from each other – literally.”

    Lucy Mecklenburgh

It seems that Ryan has finally met ‘the one’ – TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh. But the pair have not had a smooth journey.

Ryan and Lucy met, and struck up a relationship, on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls in 2017. However, they reportedly split the next year after a “massive row”.

A source told Daily Star at the time: “Ryan and Lucy have been a really lovely couple and things had been great between them. It’s a real shock.”

Ryan Thomas and Lucy announce baby news

The pair soon reunited though, and in April 2019, Ryan asked Lucy to marry him while on a romantic trip to Italy.

With their relationship going from strength to strength, Ryan and Lucy welcomed their first child, a little boy called Roman, in 2020. Their daughter Lilah Rae, was then born in 2022.

Last year, they then took another big step in their relationship by moving up to Manchester from her native Essex.

    Ryan reveals wedding plans

Although Ryan and Lucy have been engaged for five years, they are yet to walk down the aisle. In 2021, when asked about her wedding plans, Lucy told OK! magazine it was on the “back burner”.

But more recently though, Ryan shared he knows when he and Lucy finally tie the knot. Speaking to The Mirror, Ryan admitted the pair will finally set a date when they “stop having children” so that their kids can join in and be part of the special day.

He also joked: “She turned up in a wedding outfit to Dancing On Ice and I said: ‘Darling this isn’t your moment.’”

Dancing On Ice 2024 winner announced as host Stephen Mulhern under fire for ‘giving away’ result minutes before

Dancing On Ice star Ryan Thomas has been announced as the 2024 winner tonight following a dramatic finale.

Ryan, Adele Roberts and Miles Nazaire fought it out to be crowned the 2024 champion. Unfortunately, Greg Rutherford had to pull out of the final earlier today following an injury.

Adele finished in third place alongside her pro partner Mark Hanretty. Miles and Vanessa Bauer and Ryan and Amani Fancy then performed the Bolero before the vote was revealed.

    Who won Dancing On Ice?

Ryan and Amani were announced as the 2024 winners of Dancing On Ice.

Ryan said: “I’m speechless. Amani, I’m happy for her because she’s put so much hard work into me. Greg, if you’re watching this at home, this trophy is for you mate.”

A tearful Amani said: “I’m just so proud of you for making this happen!”

Viewers are thrilled for Ryan (Credit: ITV)

Viewers were over the moon over the result. One person said on X: “So glad Ryan won though. He was the best tonight and really deserved it as he’s always pushed himself through the competition.”

Another gushed: “Not going to lie, Ryan wasn’t my favourite at the beginning but that journey was INCREDIBLE. A worthy winner.”

Someone else added: “Yay!! Ryan won so happy. Both were great skaters tbh.”

However, others called out host Stephen Mulhern for a blunder he made at the end of the show. He said: “You decided at home that Ryan and Vanessa are you champions!”

One viewer said: “Stephen messed up at the end saying your winners Ryan and Vanessa instead of Amani.”

Another wrote: “Did anyone else notice how red Stephen got when he wrongly shouted Vanessa’s name as the winner at the end.”

    Dancing On Ice 2024 winner

Someone else added: “Ryan and Amani not Ryan and Vanessa Stephen!”

Meanwhile, others accused Stephen of ‘giving away’ the result before Holly announced the winners. He was seen leaning over and resting his hand on Vanessa’s shoulder just before Holly confirmed that Ryan was the winner.

One viewer said: “Sorry but the way Stephen went over and put his hand on Vanessa’s shoulder was a dead giveaway that Ryan had won.”

Another wrote: “Maybe next year Stephen won’t telegraph the result by giving the losing pair a sad look and a pat on the shoulder before it gets announced.”

Someone else added: “Is it just me who felt like Stephen Mulhern gave it away seconds before Holly announced the winner by the sympathetic look and hand on Vanessa’s shoulder??”

Greg Rutherford quits Dancing On Ice

Earlier on Sunday, Greg announced he was “devastated” after being forced to withdraw from the show. His skating partner Vanessa James wrote on Instagram: “Unfortunately Greg has sustained a significant injury this morning at rehearsals and won’t be able to perform tonight. We are on our way to the hospital for Greg to get examined further and receive the treatment he needs.”

Meanwhile, Dancing On Ice said: “Sadly Olympian Greg Rutherford MBE has had to withdraw from Dancing On Ice after sustaining an injury whilst in rehearsals for the final episode of the current series.

“Greg and Vanessa have been such a popular couple this series and have performed some truly memorable routines.

“We will be helping to support Greg and wish him well with his recovery. We also want to thank him for being such a treasured member of the Dancing on Ice family.”

Dancing On Ice in ‘harsh’ double elimination as Lou Sanders and Roxy Shahidi exit: ‘What a brutal way to go out’

Dancing On Ice tonight (February 11) culminated in a double eviction, with hosts Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern waving goodbye to not one but two skating stars.

It was an eventful night, with new judge Johnny Weir replacing Ashley Banjo on the Ice Panel. Elsewhere, Ryan Thomas hit the ice not once but twice, promoting Holly to ask: “Are you hurt?”

At the end of the show, it was revealed that the lowest-scoring couple – after the judges’ scores and viewers’ votes were combined – would be going straight home. Then, the next two lowest couples would be forced to endure the skate-off.

So this meant two couples left Dancing On Ice

Stephen Mulhern and Holly Willoughby were back for another week on the ice (Credit: ITV)

Who left Dancing On Ice tonight?

Going straight home tonight was Emmerdale star Roxy Shahidi and her skating partner Sylvain Longchambon. Holly asked her: “Roxy darling, would you come over here? I’m so so sorry, it’s such a brutal way to go out.” “It is brutal,” she said. “I was looking forward to doing my save me skate.” “I’m so sorry,” said Holly.

Next, Lou Sanders and Ricky Norwood were forced to endure the dreaded skate-off.

Then, after the celebs had done all they could do, it was time for the Ice Panel to cast their votes.

Johnny Weir decided to save Ricky. Oti Mabuse decided to save Ricky. Next up it was time for Torvill and Dean. Jane sent home Lou, while Chris decided to eliminate Lou.

    Viewers react

Dancing On Ice fans watching at home were quick to react to the double elimination.

Many said it was “harsh” that Roxy didn’t get the chance to skate-off. Others said that Lou was “robbed”. “Nah I’m gutted for Lou,” said one. “Poor Roxy, what a brutal way to go out,” said another. “I’m not happy,” said another. “Justice for Lou!” bellowed another.

“I’m tired of the women getting screwed over on this show,” said another, echoing the thoughts of many others as they noted that there’s a lot more male celebrities left on the show than women. Another added: “Two women left and five men.”

A third commented: “It doesn’t really promote the sport to women does it when they’re constantly under marked, told that it’s more impressive when a man skates and then gets voted out first.” “They’ve now sent four women home in a row,” said another.

Vanessa Bauer throws doubt on Dancing On Ice future as she eyes up acting role on ITV

Vanessa Bauer has thrown doubt on her future on Dancing On Ice, revealing she has “big dreams” of a different career.

The professional skater is a Dancing On Ice favourite, having reached the final a near-perfect five times in the six years she has been on the show.

Due to her success, she has even been subject to “fix” rumours, as her celeb partners always seem to do well. As a new series gets underway, she is now vying for the trophy yet again with Made in Chelsea‘s Miles Nazaire.

But in a recent interview, Vanessa has hinted that she could leave the show for other pursuits.

Will Vanessa leave Dancing On Ice?

“I have big dreams outside of the show,” Vanessa told OK! magazine over the weekend, revealing: “I’ve always wanted to be an actress and have been taking more steps towards that recently. If and when that happens, then I will prioritise that.”

I have big dreams outside of the show.

“I would love to be in an ITV drama,” Vanessa shared one particular ambition.

However the German-born skater also made sure to reassure her many fans: “I love Dancing On Ice so much, I’ve been on it for six years and I’m still only 27, so I’ve got a long future on it.”

Dancing On Ice: Stephen Mulhern divides viewers on launch show

Stephen Mulhern is hosting Dancing On Ice this series alongside Holly Willoughby, and viewers have already delivered their verdict.

On Sunday night (January 14), the ITV skating show made its return. Holly also made her return to TV after last being seen on screen in October last year.

Stephen has taken over the role of co-host from Phillip Schofield, who left ITV last May.

And it seems he’s already winning over the majority of viewers. Of course he is!

Opening tonight’s show, Holly and Stephen walked out of the tunnel holding hands. Holly said: “Hello! Thank you everybody, we are off. Welcome to the greatest show on ice.”

She then introduced Stephen, adding: “Can we just say a huge welcome to Stephen Mulhern everybody!”

I think Stephen is a breath of fresh air for the show.

And a huge welcome is exactly what Stephen got over on X – formerly known as Twitter.

Many fans insisted he’s a “breath of fresh air” on the programme. One person said: “We like Stephen Mulhern. Nice to have someone on the show that brings a smile to our face.”

Someone else tweeted: “I’m so happy Stephen is FINALLY getting his time on a primetime TV show and not just as a side piece but as a main role. Great seeing him back with Holly as well – takes me back to my youth.”

However, some people had one plea to Stephen. One person said: “Stephen is doing a great job… just needs to stop shouting…”

Another wrote: “Stephen needs to breathe, calm down and stop shouting. Putting it down to first night nerves and fingers crossed he settles in.”

Someone else added: “Watching #DancingOnIce and god is Mulhern overdoing it. Shut up Stephen! Let Holly speak.”

Dancing On Ice 2024 star Ryan Thomas in profile: '£2.5m' net worth, Roxanne Pallett scandal and famous brothers

Coronation Street fave Ryan Thomas will be among the first six Dancing On Ice 2024 contestants to take to the ice this weekend.

Jason Grimshaw star Ryan, 39, has popped up in Neighbours, won Celebrity Big Brother, and participated in Celebrity MasterChef since departing the ITV soap that made him famous in 2016.

He will skate with DOI pro skater Amani Fancy for his latest rink reality show adventure – and has been tipped by a supercomputer to win the whole series!

Here’s the essential info on Ryan Thomas you’ll need to know as the Mancunian celeb limbers up to perform on the ice!

Dancing On Ice 2024: Ryan Thomas profile

Is Ryan Thomas married? Does he have a wife, girlfriend, or partner?

Since 2017, Ryan has been linked to former TOWIE cast member Lucy Mecklenburgh. The celeb couple reportedly met while participating in Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls.

They became engaged in June 2019 and share two children together.

Previous to to this relationship, Ryan’s love life included him and fellow Corrie star Tina O’Brien being involved for six years between 2003 and 2009.

However, despite their relationship ending a decade ago, tabloid claims concerning them have continued to make headlines.

Furthermore, according to reports, they split a year after their child together was born.

Tina previously claimed to new! magazine: “He said he didn’t love me any more. That I didn’t do it for him any more. Those were his words. I was devastated.”

How many children does Ryan Thomas have?

Ryan is father to three kids. His eldest child, daughter Scarlett, is 15 and appears in BBC drama Waterloo Road.

Ryan shares his two younger children with fiancée Lucy. Son Roman was born in March 2020, and daughter Lilah was born in May 2022.

Is Adam Thomas related to Ryan Thomas? Is there another famous Thomas brother?

Emmerdale and Waterloo Road actor Adam – who danced with Luba Mushtuk in Strictly Come Dancing 2023 – is indeed the younger brother of Ryan. And their sibling Scott – Adam’s twin – is also a celeb, probably most familiar to Love Island viewers after he finished third in the second series of the ITV2 dating show in 2016.

The trio of brothers also starred in 2020 series Absolutely India: Mancs in Mumbai together. The programme saw the siblings look into their family history in India alongside their singer dad Dougie Thomas. Dougie later passed away in the November of the same year the show aired, aged 72.

Paying tribute, Ryan wrote on Instagram about his father: “I want you to know the best gift you ever gave me was my brothers. I couldn’t have done this without you both love you boys @adamthomas21 @scott.thomas.

“Shine bright wherever you are. We love you dad.”

What happened with Ryan Thomas and Roxanne Pallett?

A huge reality show controversy erupted during Ryan’s 2018 CBB stint as soap actress Roxanne Pallett alleged he ‘punched’ her.

The former Emmerdale star later quit the series, and publicly apologised to Ryan. She admitted she got it wrong as her accusation dominated the headlines.

She said: “I massively apologise to Ryan, his friends and fans and every single person who watched that … [It was] an overreaction to what wasn’t a malicious act.

“I was sensitive and emotional and mistook what was playful – I apologise for it, I shouldn’t have questioned his motivation.”

Relieved to discover CBB viewers were supportive of him over the furore as he left the series as winner, Ryan told fans: “Absolutely overwhelmed with the love and support I’ve received, you’ve no idea how much it means to me.”

Ryan also indicated he forgave Roxanne – but didn’t suggest he wished them to be pals.

“If she wants forgiveness and it makes her feel better, then I would rather give her that, because I think she’s been punished enough by the public and people around her,” he reflected.

Will Ryan Thomas ever return to Corrie?

Eight years on since Jason Grimshaw left Weatherfield for Thailand, and there’s no sign of Eileen’s son ending his excursion as yet. However, back in 2020, Eileen actress Sue Cleaver revealed she had been “badgering” Ryan “all the time” about returning to the cobbles.

“He’s become a social media influencer and he’s just had another baby, who I haven’t met yet because we are in lockdown,” Sue said at the time.

She added: “But I’ll be on his case for the rest of eternity, though.”

However, Ryan indicated in early 2021 that he has quit acting.

He said during a podcast interview: “It’s so hard for me. I started off acting, I started off in that game and I really lost the bug for it.

“I feel the reason for losing the bug is rejection and going to auditions and not getting them.”

What is Ryan Thomas’ net worth?

According to reports, Ryan Thomas is said to have a net worth of approximately £2.5 million. However, the Daily Star Online admits this figure should not be regarded as reliable or accurate as “the exact figures remain a well-guarded secret.” Additionally, it has previously been reported Ryan filed for bankruptcy in 2013 following an unpaid tax bill of £40,000.

  • Dancing On Ice trend set to be broken as Amber Davies named as favourite to win?

Dancing On Ice trend set to be broken as Amber Davies named as favourite to win?

Strictly’s finished, Christmas is behind us and that can only mean one thing – it’s almost time for ITV favourite Dancing On Ice to return to our screens for its 2024 series!

The celeb ice-dancing competition will kick off with its launch show this coming Sunday (January 14) and personally, we can’t wait.

In case you missed it (or just need reminding!) the line-up this year is made up of: Olympian Greg Rutherford, S Club 7 star Hannah Spearritt, skiing icon Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards, boxer Ricky Hatton, Corrie’s Ryan Thomas and Claire Sweeney, DJ Adele Roberts, comedian Lou Saunders, Love Island star Amber Davies, Made In Chelsea’s Miles Nazaire, EastEnders actor Ricky Norwood, Emmerdale‘s Roxy Shahidi.

Some big names this year, but who will come out on top? Here’s what the bookies reckon…

Dancing On Ice favourite to win revealed

Since the show’s revival in 2018, only male celebs have lifted the Dancing On Ice trophy. However, if BoyleSports‘ odds are anything to go by, 2024 could finally see an end to this ‘curse’!

According to the betting company, it’s Love Island‘s Amber Davies who is the one to beat, with the best odds at 3/1.

Amber Davies is the favourite to win Dancing On Ice 2024 (Credit: ITV)

However, hot on Amber’s heels (or should we say skates?) is Miles Nazaire of Made In Chelsea, the two of them being this year’s youngest contestants.

Sportspeople often do well on the show, so it’s perhaps not surprising that Greg Rutherford is also up there at 4/1. However the same is apparently not being said for Ricky Hatton, who is the outsider at 40/1.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “Ricky Hatton is on the ropes already according to the odds, but Love Island’s Amber is the darling of punters so far and they clearly think she’ll win hearts on the ice.”

Don’t forget to watch Dancing On Ice at 6.30pm this Sunday January 14 on ITV1 and ITVX.

  • Stephen Mulhern signs on as new Dancing On Ice host as ITV 'tries to convince' Holly Willoughby to stay

Stephen Mulhern signs on as new Dancing On Ice host as ITV 'tries to convince' Holly Willoughby to stay

TV presenter Stephen Mulhern has officially signed on as the new Dancing On Ice presenter for next year, it has been revealed. ITV bosses hope that Stephen will join current host Holly Willoughby, who has yet to confirm her return.

The Sun newspaper ‘confirmed’ that bosses have officially picked Stephen to replace disgraced former host Phillip Schofield.

Stephen Mulhern signs up to host Dancing On Ice

A TV insider told The Sun: “Stephen has been the frontrunner to take Phillip’s spot for months but ITV is thrilled to now have him signed and sealed and ready to roll. It means that, whatever happens, they have at least one host for the skate show.”

ITV bosses reportedly hope that Deal Or No Deal host Stephen’s presence will be what it takes for Holly to return to the show.

“Stephen is hugely loved by viewers, is a consummate professional and as an added bonus has worked with Holly for decades – they both started out in telly together,” the tabloid’s source continued.

“Knowing Stephen will be there beside her could be the comfort blanket Holly needs to say yes,” the insider said.

Stephen previously stood in for Phillip in 2022, when the then-Dancing On Ice presenter tested positive for COVID. Going back further, he and Holly both worked together on the children’s entertainment show Ministry Of Mayhem, where they quickly rose to fame as household names.

Holly has taken her leave of the spotlight since her sudden exit from This Morning earlier this year. Telly bosses and viewers alike have been on tenterhooks, wondering whether she would return to Dancing On Ice.

Holly Willoughby seen out and about for the first time following This Morning exit

This follows an increasingly rare public sighting earlier this week. We reported yesterday that Holly had been spotted on Thursday (December 21), looking decidedly chipper.

Pictures obtained by MailOnline showed the presenter out for a walk in South West London.

Holly wore a red jumpsuit and gold heels, paired with a long camel coat. She then reportedly joined her family for a Christmas lunch.

It’s claimed mum Linda, husband Dan Baldwin and a group of friends joined in on the celebrations too. Holly was seen leaving the venue and later walked down the road to a waiting car.

  • Stephen Mulhern “confirmed to host Dancing On Ice” as bosses “try to convince” Holly Willoughby to return

Stephen Mulhern “confirmed to host Dancing On Ice” as bosses “try to convince” Holly Willoughby to return

The 2024 series of Dancing On Ice is due to start in a month and Stephen Mulhern is said to have been ‘confirmed’ as the new host.

The popular Deal or No Deal presenter has been linked with the presenting vacancy that opened up following Phillip Schofield’s departure from ITV for several weeks.

Telly fave Stephen, however, is not expected to front the upcoming series in January on his own.

Furthermore, it’s been claimed DOI bosses are keen on having Holly Willoughby make a telly comeback for the next series, scheduled for January.

Holly left This Morning herself in October – but her future on ITV’s skating reality series has not been confirmed.

Stephen Mulhern previously filled in for Phillp Schofield alongside Holly Willoughby on Dancing On Ice (Credit: ITV)

Stephen Mulhern joins Dancing On Ice 2024?

The Mail reckons Stephen signing up for DOI is a done deal. Last month Stephen, 46, admitted he was in talks for a role on the show.

He insisted at the time “nothing has been agreed”. But Stephen went on: “Would I do it? Do you know something, I think it’d be silly not to do it. But nothing has been fully agreed.”

Now, however, the paper quotes a source as claiming Stephen is on board – but Holly hasn’t yet agreed “formally”.

    ‘Exactly what the series needs’

A source is said to have told MailOnline: “Bosses hope that they can convince her to come back to work in the New Year because they feel that the relationship between her and Stephen is exactly what the series needs.

“The channel is being careful not to put pressure on her decision, although they’re hoping that renegotiating her contract will help to close the deal.

“Time is running out now given photoshoots need to happen. Plus it won’t be long until the show needs to start promoting the new series.”

ED! has approached representatives for Stephen Mulhern, Dancing On Ice and Holly Willoughby for comment on MailOnline’s story.

Dancing On Ice star will NOT return to ITV series, admitting: ‘I knew this day would come’

In latest Dancing On Ice news, a veteran star will reportedly NOT return to the ITV skating series in 2024.

Pro star Matt Evers has departed the programme 17 years after he made his show debut.

Matt, 47, won the telly competition in 2008 when he was paired up with Suzanne Shaw. Other DOI skating partners have included Faye Brookes and Jorgie Porter – both with whom he placed second – as well as Pamela Anderson, Gemma Collins, and Ian ‘H from Steps’ Watkins.

    Dancing On Ice news

US star Matt said in a statement: “I have some news to share. I knew this day would come at some point but I won’t be returning to Dancing On Ice this series.

“After 15 series of the show it was sadly time to hang up the skates for now. I have loved every minute of it (honestly!)

We have created some fantastic TV moments!

“I’ve had some incredible partners over the years and we have created some fantastic TV moments!

“I mean who can forget that fall from Gemma, or the wardrobe malfunction from Pamela?! And I was honoured to make history with H as the first ever UK same-sex televised partnership.”

‘I can now be totally 100% honest’

Thanking every one of his celeb partners, Matt added: “I’ll miss each and everyone on the show, in front and behind the camera – and all of you the fans too! But of course I’ll be watching and commenting – which I can now be totally 100% honest about so watch out – haha!”

He concluded: “I’m writing this from the West coast of the US in sunny Los Angeles. But I’ll definitely be back in the UK very soon so watch this space! This isn’t a goodbye but a ‘see you very soon’.”

He created some of the shows iconic moments, from performing the first ever headbanger on the very first show with partner Bonnie Langford, storming to victory with partner Suzanne Shaw in season three, and performing in our first ever same sex couple with Ian ‘H’ Watkins on season 12. Matt will always be a part of the Dancing On Ice family and we wish him all the very best for the future.”
