  • F1 Arcade Brings Formula One Racing Experience to West Midtown

    [ad_1]

You may not have Brad Pitt’s jawline or Damson Idris’ movie deal, but at the new F1 Arcade at The Interlock in West Midtown, you can finally ( if only for a few laps),  step into the driver’s seat and test your Formula One fantasy, without ever leaving the city.

A preview event held this week offered the first public look inside F1 Arcade, a high-energy motorsports entertainment destination opening next month in West Midtown at The Interlock. The Atlanta location will be the brand’s eighth worldwide and its first in Georgia, bringing an immersive racing simulation, chef-driven dining, and a full-service bar to the area’s growing nightlife scene.

The 15,000-square-foot venue features 68 full-motion racing simulators designed to replicate the feel of Formula One driving, complete with multiple skill levels to accommodate both first-timers and seasoned gamers. Guests do not need prior knowledge of F1 or even a driver’s license to participate.

“This is the world’s first Formula One social entertainment destination,” said Liz Norris, vice president of U.S. launch strategy and communications to the attending crowd. “If you know nothing about F1, let this be your introduction. You don’t need to know a thing to have a blast.”

Norris said the preview coincided with the opening of the reservation system, with the official grand opening scheduled for Feb. 6. While construction and staff training are still underway, attendees were invited to test simulators, tour the space, and take part in a celebratory champagne toast.

Beyond racing, the venue aims to position itself as a social hub. The bar program includes curated cocktails, including nonalcoholic options, while the menu is led by an executive chef. Music, DJ-led nights, and private events are also planned.

Jonathan Peters, CEO of F1 Arcade, said Atlanta stood out as a strategic expansion city for the brand’s growing U.S. footprint.

“Atlanta is clearly one of the great cities in the U.S.,” Peters said. “From an F1 point of view, there’s nothing really like this here yet. People are crying out for experiential nights out, something that brings adrenaline but is still social and accessible.”

Peters emphasized that the experience is designed to appeal beyond racing enthusiasts.

“You could have no interest in racing and still want to come here,” he said. “It’s about the environment, the food, the drinks, the music, and being able to socialize. Ultimately, we want guests to leave happier than when they arrived.”

From a development perspective, the addition of F1 Arcade marks another major tenant for The Interlock, a mixed-use complex known for blending dining, retail, and entertainment.

Adriana Siciliano, community manager and tenant relations manager at Stream Realty Partners, said conversations to bring the venue to West Midtown began early last year after F1 Arcade began scouting the Atlanta market.

“Through months of communication and negotiation, we were able to land them here,” Siciliano said. “This location is the only one in the state of Georgia and one of the very few in the Southeast.”

Siciliano said the venue is expected to draw visitors from across Atlanta, the state and neighboring regions, whether they are longtime motorsports fans or simply looking for something new.

“Anyone and everyone,” she said. “If you’re interested in F1 or just want to try a new experience, this is the place to do it.”

  • Prayers Up! Damson Idris’ Nephew Among Youngest Victims In Shocking Train Stabbing

    [ad_1]

A frightening incident hit close to home for Damson Idris this weekend. The actor’s nephew, 17-year-old Isaiah, was reportedly slashed across the face while traveling on the train in London. The shocking incident has left the community shaken and hoping for the recovery of all those affected.

Nephew Of Damson Idris Injured In Knife Attack

Officials say Isaiah Ishmael Idris was traveling on the Docklands Light Railway in east London when he staggered off the train, injured. He reportedly got off at Pontoon Dock station in the early hours of Saturday morning and called for help. British Transport Police confirmed the terrifying incident, saying officers responded just after midnight on November 1 following reports of a victim suffering facial injuries from a knife attack.

Isaiah’s uncle, Damson—best known for his role in the F1 drama series and ‘Snowfall’ has so far declined to comment. Additionally, Isaiah’s family is reportedly handling the situation privately, but another uncle, Habeeb Idris, confirmed the teen was among the victims.

Isaiah Was Allegedly Among The Suspect’s 11 Targets

According to reports, Isaiah was one of 11 people allegedly targeted by suspect Anthony Williams. He appeared at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Monday and faces multiple attempted murder charges. The other charges relate to stabbings of LNER passengers traveling from Doncaster to London less than a day later. One of the youngest victims, Isaiah, also narrowly escaped harm, highlighting the shocking scale of the attacks that have shaken communities across East London.

Here’s What Uncle Damson Has Been Up To

Roomies, we’re sure Damson Idris has a strong support system around him. As previously reported, he was recently spotted with Lori Harvey in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Furthermore, photos of the pair lounging on the beach show Idris’s arm around her as they stroll along the sand. Other shots show them laughing and dipping into the ocean, all smiles, seemingly enjoying their time in the sun. And, igniting rumors that their romance is back on after a brief split back in 2023.

  • Locked In Again? Exes Lori Harvey & Damson Idris Spotted Seemingly Spinning The Block In Boo’d Up Beach Pics

    [ad_1]

A block spin, innit? Lori Harvey and Damson Idris sparked reconciliation rumors after they were spotted on a romantic getaway in Mexico two years after their breakup.

    Source: Amy Sussman/GA / Getty

One combination that hits every time is Lori Harvey and a bikini. The only thing more impressive than her super snatched beach bod is some very familiar elite arm candy. The Reasonable Doubt diva popped out for some fun in the sun with her ex, Damson Idris.

According to TMZ, the former couple was spotted vacationing on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on Thursday. The stunning stars were all smiles as they cooled off in the ocean.

Lori’s glances at Damson looked full of heart-eye happiness as they splashed and played in the waves. Things heated up from play to PDA on the beach as they walked back to their cabana with Damson’s arm wrapped around the mouthwatering model. And fans are here for the “Nunu” nuzzling!

Several comments noted that Lori must have some serious feelings for the Snowfall leading man because, despite a dating resume of Hollywood heartthrobs, she never publicly doubled back before.

It’s no secret that Damson was smitten as soon as the couple hard-launched at Lori’s birthday party in January 2023.

In the following months, they were ubiquitously boo’d up everywhere from the Snowfall final season premiere to the Renaissance World Tour in Damson’s hometown of London.

By November, the Lori and Damson returned to Odell Beckham Jr.’s birthday party, where they first met the year prior. However, they arrived separately, fueling breakup rumors already running rampant after the lovebirds unfollowed each other on Instagram.

The next day, they confirmed the split in a joint statement about parting ways to focus on themselves:

“We are at a point in our lives where our individual paths require our full attention and dedication. We part ways remaining friends with nothing but love and respect for each other and the time we shared together.”

Fans Suspect Lori & Damson Might Have Spun The Block Some Time Ago

Despite the announcement, many fans suspect Lori and Damson never split for good, or at least not for long. Three weeks later, they had a chance to relive their romantic concert experience at the Los Angeles premiere of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. A source told PEOPLE that the exes left the premiere “side by side,” noting that awkwardly, “they didn’t look happy but looked together and exited that way.”

A month later, social media sleuths clocked that they vacationed to the same tropical getaway days before Lori’s 27th birthday last year.

This year, eagle-eyed investigators spotted that they attended a wedding together as dates in August.

Welp, we love to see Lori and Damson back like they never left and living their best lives!

The actor, 32, chatted with writer Kory Jarvis about his beginnings in South East London’s Peckham district, his NAACP Image Award for NAACP Image Award win for Outstanding Actor in a Drama series and his thoughts on one day having a family.

“Oh, man, I’ll be the best dad,” said Lori Harvey’s boyfriend. “It doesn’t matter what age I’ll be, I’ll still be the cool dad. Like, yeah, My dad’s coming to pick me up from school. I’ll just love it, you know? I love kids. Being an uncle is amazing, because I get to take the baby and then give it back—but I can’t wait to be a father and have a big family.”

He also shared his thoughts about why he was picked as one of ESSENCE’s men of the moment.

“I have no idea! [laughs] But I’m beautiful,” said the actor. “I didn’t mean that.”

“Yes, you did…,” replied Kory Jarvis.

“If I wasn’t me, I’d be like, Oh, that guy cares. That guy cares about what he’s doing, aside from aesthetics or whatever. I think if you care about what you do, that’s sexy—and that’s inspiring. So, yeah, maybe that’s why I’m sitting here in this chair.”

The proud papa of four with his wife Ciara has been dubbed the second “Man of the Moment” for his athletic abilities and for “pushing the boundaries” of what an athlete should be.

In his cover story the NFL quarterback who signed a one-year, $1.21 million deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers, spoke on his family being the pillar in everything he does.

He also shared that prayer is the key to his successful marriage to Ciara.

“When I asked her to marry me, once she said yes, I said, ‘Before we go do this, can we pray? I want to make sure we always put God at the center of it all,’” he recalled to ESSENCE. “And so I think the thing that hopefully exudes from our love is that, listen, love is never perfect.

“But we continue to try to put God first and pray over each other. We have these four beautiful children that we get to raise every day and it’s the greatest gift in the world.”

  • Lori Harvey & Damson Idris Back Together? Both In Thailand – At Same Place – For Her Birthday | The YBF

Lori Harvey & Damson Idris Back Together? Both In Thailand – At Same Place – For Her Birthday | The YBF

    [ad_1]

    Lori & Damson, July 2023

Spin the block season continues, apparently!

Just a few months after the couple issued a break up statement, Lori Harvey and Damson Idris seem to be circling right back on each other. If their latest pics and videos are any indication, it looks like Lori’s birthday vacation has turned into a baecation. Hmph…

After spending the Holidays in Dubai with parents Steve & Marjorie and the rest of the family, Lori jetted over to Thailand this week. She turns 27 on Saturday, so she seems to be getting a jump on her b-day festivities.

The Capricorn babe has been soaking in the Eastern sun, but our nosy eye noticed that she might not be doing so alone.

We coincidentally peeped how Damson Idris has been posting from his vacation in, you guessed it, Thailand. And the similarities between his pics and Lori’s are uncanny AF.

The umbrellas in their beach pics are the same, as well as their lounge beds and towels:

We also noticed in Lori’s recent IG Stories, she posted a little house on the resort property. Damson just posted an IG Story video in front of what looks to be the same little house:

We peeped Lori’s even wearing a similar hat from their last baecation together.

And we all know those two love a beach vacay:

Remember their steamy sun lounger pic back in April (above) and their summer trip to St. Thomas in July?

The twosome dated from December 2022 until November 2023 when they called things off, saying it’s because their “individual paths require our full attention and dedication”. Guess those paths are crossing again….

Listen, we’d take Damson back too after his thirst traps and powerful words defending Black women.

    We’re just girls. *shrugs*

  • Lori Harvey Sends Sweet Birthday Tribute To Boyfriend Damson Idris

Lori Harvey Sends Sweet Birthday Tribute To Boyfriend Damson Idris

    [ad_1]

Lori Harvey is celebrating her boyfriend Damson Idris’s birthday with a lot of love.

On Friday, the model paid tribute to the “Snowfall” actor with a sweet note on her Instagram story. She posted one photo that showed Idris standing in front of large number “32″ balloons.

“Happyyyy Birthdayyyy twinnn!!!!” she wrote in the text overlay of the post. “I love youuuu.”

Another post showed Harvey embracing Idris, who kissed her forehead.

Idris celebrated his big day with an Instagram post of his own. He shared a video on his Instagram story that showed him singing the “Happy Birthday” song to himself.

Harvey and Idris have showcased their love for each other several times over the summer.

Last month, the model shared photos on Instagram of her and Idris enjoying a vacation together in Mexico.

Lori Harvey and Damson Idris were photographed together on June 27, 2023, in London, England.

The couple made their relationship Instagram official back in January.

In March, Harvey — who has faced sexist online attacks for her public dating life — playfully shut down breakup rumors about her and Idris that were swirling online at the time.

The model posted a photo of the actor on her Instagram story that showed him smiling at the camera in the driver’s seat of a car.

“My fine ass Uber driver,” she wrote in a text overlay of that post.

A publicist for Idris also denied the rumors, telling Newsweek at the time that the reports about a split were “completely false.”

Idris, meanwhile, discussed his relationship with Complex the same month and didn’t hint that there was trouble in paradise. Instead, he said, “Life is great.”

  • Rihanna, Johnny Depp and Savage X Fenty Vol. 4

Rihanna, Johnny Depp and Savage X Fenty Vol. 4

    [ad_1]

Although Rihanna has seemingly side-stepped attempts at cancelling her existence after reports revealed that Johnny Depp would be in the Vol. 4 edition of the Savage X Fenty fashion show, some will still find it difficult to stomach Depp’s appearance. Which is somewhat ironic considering how much the public relished the schadenfreude of lambasting Amber Heard for being a “liar and a fraud” during the Depp v. Heard defamation trial that concluded back in June of this year. When, suddenly, Depp looked all shiny and new (read: employable) again upon winning the trial. It didn’t take long, however, for many to understand that vilifying Heard was largely to the benefit of misogynists (which, sadly, also includes many women).

Ones who continue to wield this case as a key example of women being “cunts” not to be trusted or believed. And, to be clear, those touting Depp v. Heard as a “much-needed” beacon of light for men who are abused by women, one ought to consider that a five-foot-eight, one hundred sixty(-plus)-pound man can’t really get all that “hurt” (at least not without weaponry) by someone of Heard’s stature. This isn’t to say women aren’t capable of kicking an ass when necessary, it’s just that one gets the impression Heard was engaging in the same type of maneuvers as Katie (Soleil Moon Frye) in that Friends episode, “The One with the Girl Who Hits Joey”—wherein Joey (Matt LeBlanc) keeps insisting Katie punches him too hard when doing it “playfully.” A claim that, what a surprise, gets validated in Joey’s favor.

In any event, let’s rewind to 2009, when Rihanna herself was the victim of an abusive relationship (and yes, regardless of what people say, Depp was abusive toward Heard, even if “only” verbally…since the physical abuse revealed wasn’t deemed “enough”). Her then-boyfriend, Chris Brown, smacked the shit out of her to such a degree that she couldn’t even pretend to carry on for a scheduled appearance at the Grammys. Cut to 2012-2013, when Rihanna decided to give Brown another chance (resulting in a very uncomfortable musical collaboration on Unapologetic called “Nobody’s Business”). In many ways, that’s what putting Depp in Savage X Fenty Vol. 4 feels like. Another conduit through which to “forgive.” Though, of course, Rihanna apologists would like to say that being a “true” survivor of domestic abuse, she can recognize who has actually been an abuser versus who has suffered abuse. With some (okay, many) saying Depp is the real victim in the scenario. In other words, whatever one needs to tell themselves in order to “comfortably” watch Depp participating in new projects.

Brief though this particular appearance from Depp may be, perhaps the most disturbing element about it is the fact that Rihanna opted to soundtrack his arrival to Outkast’s “So Fresh, So Clean.” For those who might have forgotten the arrogant, “dapper” lyrics, they boast, “Ain’t nobody dope as me/I’m just so fresh and clean/Don’t you think I’m so sexy?/I’m just so fresh and clean.” Obviously, Depp is anything but these two descriptors, which is why Rihanna trying to help “rebrand” him as such feels so cringe. The placement of his “cameo” also seems tailored in such a way as to make viewers largely gloss over it, as it comes neither too close to the beginning nor near the end. Instead, Rihanna wastes no time in announcing that she’s the star of the show as she makes her grand entrance to the very problematic ASAP Rocky song, “D.M.B.” (in case you couldn’t guess, the abbreviation stands for “dats my bitch” or, if you must, “DAT$ MAH B!*$H”). In addition to such gross (and, yes, misogynistic) lyrics as, “Roll my blunt, fill my cup, be my bitch, rub my gut/Rub yo’ butt, be my slut, be my cunt, yeah, so what?,” ASAP also declares, “Bad girls wanna have fun.” This being repeated in remix form as Rihanna does her “dance”/strut against the forest tableau that takes up most of the show. Through this not-so-subtle act of including the theoretically “Bonnie and Clyde”-oriented tone from the outset, Rihanna makes it clear, once again, what her taste in men tends to favor (extending toward none other than Depp).

With that performance out of the way, Rihanna allows room for Precious Lee, who models one of many patterns to the tune of “Lick It N Split” by Zebra Katz and Shygirl. Upon Precious being thrust up against a tree, the song then transitions to the chaotic “Crazy” by Doechii. Men running through the forest with women slung under over their backs seems, evidently, the best way to match this track’s energy. And yet, it also offers more symbolism about what appears to be Rihanna’s own internalized sense of misogyny as women come across as being utterly disposable playthings in such a scene. The pendulum of that sentiment, however, shifts when Missy Elliott’s “Hot Boyz” starts to play—or rather, the sentiment would shift if Damson Idris didn’t materialize in purple pajamas at the center of a group of harem-like women. For “Hot Boyz,” the inverse permutation would be required, with a woman at the center of multiple men instead.

The intent to make every scene of the spectacle present itself as visceral and exotic persists with Anitta. And it only takes about six minutes for the sex-positive Brazilian pop singer to offer her ass to the camera as she sings “Practice” (usually featuring another ASAP, Ferg). The song in question undeniably includes the ideal lyrics for promoting lingerie: “We don’t make babies, but we practice.” She then segues into “Envolver” before more animation (complete with a woman being “enfolded” into a tree) appears to transition us into the next batch of designs to parade. This time, with Cara Delevingne at the center of it all as Nas’ “Oochie Wally” fades into 50 Cent’s “Just A Lil Bit.” It’s here that Taraji P. Henson then leads a line of cavorting women with interconnecting braids (it’s all very elaborate).

Don Toliver subsequently enters into the “majestic forest” with a performance of “Take Your Time,” another lingerie-appropriate track that urges, “Let’s do it baby/Let’s do it tonight/Take me to your crib and we can party all night.” Like Anitta, Toliver also gets to promote two songs, opting for “Way Bigger” as the second one, during which he provides more salacious lyrics tailored to shilling bras and panties. Case in point, “With a bad bitch through the whole pandemic/Lemme hit the hole through the whole ninth inning/Eatin’ and beatin’ the whole night swimmin’.” And this, unfortunately, is what takes us to the Depp part of the show. Which comes at a strategic moment in that Rihanna has already stacked the “fashion parade” with plenty of other cameos, including Taylour Paige, who offers a very memorable monologue before sauntering in “bad bitch mode” to Dave featuring Stormzy’s “Clash.”

Following that, at the twenty-minute mark (halfway through it all), Depp is “blessed” with his screen time. As previously mentioned, Rihanna ill-advisedly opted to soundtrack Depp’s entrance with Outkast’s “So Fresh So Clean”—and yes, even Depp has a look on his face that seems to say, “What am I doing here?” After he does a reluctant “catwalk” through the forest and concludes with hugging a tree (perhaps dendrophilia is his latest flame), another animation sequence arrives. One that fittingly displays some kind of rupture in the universe—this being precisely what has happened with the verdict of the Depp v. Heard trial. After we’re shown the formation of some crystals in cartoon form that become the real-life backdrop of the next set, the scene gives way to a portion of Vol. 4 that does a better job of accenting bombastic maquillage than it does lingerie.

The mood shifts thanks to more animation that provides a cartoon version of Maxwell underwater trying to get his hands on a yellow ball that bursts as he’s then sucked from one hole into another (interpret that metaphor how you will). He then emerges from the next water realm inside that very yellow ball now scaled to a far more massive size. It then shoots up into the sky like a comet so that the real Maxwell can serve as the penultimate performer (of “Whenever, Wherever, Whatever”) amid a backdrop of some very phallic cacti.

The seductive, “drop them panties” attitude continues with Janet Jackson’s “Would You Mind” as a dancer very orgasmically quivers right when Janet utters that very word (“quiver”). Afterward, Jackson’s “Throb” leads us into one of the most flagrantly suggestive animation sequences involving rocket ships and explosions. The wildin’ out choreography continues almost as a means to distract from how this season’s collection isn’t quite as impressive as the one in Vol. 3 (replete with Busta Rhymes songs, to boot). Nonetheless, the choreography is admittedly fire—and continues to be as DJ Blue’s “Look Like You,” Konshens and J Capri’s “Pull Up to Mi Bumper” and Oxlade’s “Ku Lo Sa” play before Burna Boy rounds out the show with, what else, “Last Last” (and “It’s Plenty”).

The “yellow” segment comprises the finale, featuring Lilly Singh as the initial “centerpiece” of the motif. Yellow, incidentally, representing the color of cowardice—let the viewer be the judge of whether or not Rihanna is either “brave” or cowardly for certain casting decisions in this edition…

For the conclusion, Rihanna opts to close the show with SOPHIE’s “Not Okay” (interpolated with Omarion’s “Touch”). Almost like a subconscious admission of the fact that what she’s done is, well, not okay. And while she might consider herself a champion of artistic freedom or some such, it’s rather a shame that what is actually a very beautifully-presented show should be besmirched with the mark of Depp’s presence. Providing another open invitation for abusers to reemerge once they’re either 1) able to flip the switch on the woman that “falsely accused” them or 2) enough time passes for the public memory to be “just hazy enough” to forget. Though it would take a lot of weed to create the haze necessary to forget about Depp declaring to Heard, “I pushed you” or “I headbutted you in the fucking forehead. That doesn’t break a nose.” Which, honestly, is the last image one wants to have in their head during “sexy time” (not to mention the automatic correlation with Depp to a shit on the bed).
