  • Who Are Matt Lauer’s Kids? Meet Sons Jack and Thijs and Daughter Romy

    [ad_1]

It’s been eight years since Matt Lauer was forced out of the spotlight following allegations of sexual misconduct. During that time, his three children have managed to mostly stay out of the limelight.

Lauer married Dutch model Annette Roque in 1998. The couple went on to welcome sons Jack and Thijs and daughter Romy.

Once Lauer’s alleged misconduct made headlines in 2017, he was fired from NBC after being a host on the network for more than two decades. (Lauer was accused by a female colleague of inappropriate behavior during NBC’s coverage of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, three years prior.)

Lauer said in a statement at the time that he was “truly sorry” for the “pain I have caused others by my words and actions,” but the fallout from the scandal poisoned his career and affected his romantic relationship.

Roque filed for divorce in July 2019 and Lauer since has worked hard to rebuild his connection with his kids. “He is on good terms with his kids, which was the most important thing for him,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in April 2024. “This was not always the case post-divorce but now he’s good with the kids.”

Lauer and Roque welcomed their first child, son Jack, in June 2001. “Becoming a dad gave me perspective; it brought balance to my life,” Lauer told Good Housekeeping in 2007.

The following year, Lauer told his Today cohosts that his eldest son was a “sports fanatic,” with whom he frequently attended games with in New York City. The pair was spotted at the New York Knicks games and New York Rangers games over the years.

“All he cares about is sports. Baseball in the summer, basketball in the winter, football in the fall. He loves it,” Lauer said of Jack in 2008.

As an adult, Jack has managed to stay out of the public eye. He doesn’t have a public social media account and hasn’t popped up on sister Romy’s profile in recent years.

Romy is the only daughter of Lauer and ex-wife Roque. She was born in October 2003. Romy made her TV debut at 3 years old when her father read her a story on a special episode of Sesame Street.

Over the years, Romy has focused on horseback riding, having competed in jumping and other events since she was young. Romy has continued to compete at a high level since going off to University of Miami for college in 2022.

Romy has been dating University of Miami tennis player Antonio Prat since April 2023, according to her Instagram. “Happy to live by your side. 730 days. Love you ❤️,” Prat wrote via Instagram in April 2025, celebrating the couple’s second anniversary.

Romy made headlines in September 2024 when news broke that she crashed a car into a fence in the Hamptons in July of that year. Romy was given a traffic ticket for leaving the scene, according to People. She never went to trial for the incident.

Lauer and Roque’s youngest child, son Thijs, was born in November 2006. Thijs is pronounced “Tice,” and is a common Dutch name short for Matthijs (a.k.a. the Dutch equivalent of Matthew.) Roque is from the Netherlands and Lauer’s full name is Matthew, so Thijs is a nod to both parents.

Thijs was born two months after Roque filed for divorce from Lauer in September 2006, citing “cruel and inhumane” behavior. She withdrew her petition three weeks later, but the pair split for good in 2019.

Thijs has remained out of the spotlight during his teenage years and into young adulthood. He has a social media account, but it is private. Thijs, however, was spotted in a photo from a trip to Mongolia in 2023, which his sister, Romy, posted on her Instagram.

According to his Instagram bio, Thijs is a student at Boston College. Thijs was highlighted in June 2025 via Boston College 2030’s social media page, where he shared he was living in Switzerland at boarding school for three years before returning to the U.S. for college. “I’m a Swiss ski instructor (love to ski) and like [to] go to the gym,” the profile read.

  • Nathan Lane Made Hepatitis Joke to Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s 5-Year-Old Son

    [ad_1]

Jesse Tyler Ferguson had no qualms about Nathan Lane telling an adult joke to his 5-year-old son, Beckett.

Ferguson, 50, shared that he recently invited Lane, 69, and Pamela Adlon over to his home for dinner during the latest episode of his “Dinner’s on Me” podcast. Before the meal, he recalled using Lane’s very famous Disney character, The Lion King’s Timon, as a touchpoint for Beckett and son Sullivan, 3, to help recognize their impending guests. (Ferguson shares both his sons with husband Justin Mikita.)

“[Lane] was in town shooting something and we’ve been trying to meet for dinner and it was just easier. I was like, ‘Do you just want me to cook for you? I’ll cook for you.’ And he came over,” the Modern Family star explained. “And I was like, ‘You know Nathan, of course. You’ve listened to him, you know his voice from [Timon in] The Lion King.’ So I played ‘Hakuna Matata’ and on my way to school, they were singing ‘Hakuna Matata.’ And I was like, ‘This is Nathan who is coming to dinner!’”

He continued, “So that evening, Nathan comes over with Pam, and Nathan comes in, and my son goes, ‘I know who you are!’ He called him, ‘Athan.’ ‘Athan, Athan, Athan, I know who you are! You’re from ‘Hakuna Matata,’ you’re from Lion King!‘”

While Ferguson’s kids were clearly excited, the Only Murders in the Building star was allegedly less than enthused to be recognized for one of his past roles. “Nathan was like, ‘Oh god.’ Like, as if he was being stopped in the street by a fan,” Ferguson recalled with a laugh. “I was like, ‘Nathan, he’s a 5-year-old. Like, let it rest!’”

Lane’s response didn’t dissuade Ferguson’s eldest, though, as Beckett returned shortly after with something hidden behind his back. When he asked Lane to guess what he had, the Birdcage star didn’t hold back.

“He’s like, ‘Athan, Athan, Athan, guess what I have?’” Ferguson remembered. “And Nathan goes, ‘Hepatitis.’”

Despite the joke being more geared toward adults, Ferguson said he wasn’t bothered by Lane’s disposition.

“I loved him so much for just being authentically himself,” Ferguson confessed, adding that Lane has expressed that children aren’t his favorite crowd. “He’s like, ‘I don’t mind kids, but I also don’t relate to them. And I hear an opportunity for a joke and this is what I’m going to give.’”

Lane’s status as Disney royalty has made him a legend to the younger generations. The Emmy winner starred as lovable jungle meerkat Timon in all three of the original Lion King films, one half of the movie’s comedic relief duo with Ernie Sabella Nathan Lane Made Hepatitis Joke to Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s 5-Year-Old Son who portrayed warthog Pumba.

While there is plenty of kid humor throughout each Lion King — including Pumba’s farting noises, which came from Sabella trying to make Lane laugh in early morning recording sessions — there was one adult-leaning joke that made its way into the movie thanks to Lane’s improv.

While appearing on an April 2025 episode of SiriusXM’s Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend show, Lane admitted the scene where Timon puts on a skirt and distracts a group of hyenas came from him “screwing around” in the studio.

“I don’t even remember half of it, but, apparently I said, ‘What do you want me to do, dress in drag and do the hula?’ for some reason,” Lane recalled of the now-famous line. “It must have been a long day. And then they made it a song.”

Lane, who came out publicly as gay in 1999, nearly expanded his kids movie resume with another classic, 1996’s Space Jam. However, the Guys and Dolls actor claimed during a May 2025 interview with Vanity Fair that he was passed over for the role due to homophobia.

“I was told [being gay did] impact a movie that I didn’t really care about: Space Jam. I was up for the part that the guy from Seinfeld wound up playing,” Lane said, referencing the role of Michael Jordan’s publicist that ultimately went to Wayne Knight. “I was up for that part. Apparently the director saw me hosting the Tony Awards and thought that suggested I was too gay to play the part. So thank God, I didn’t have to do Space Jam.

  • Gordon Ramsay Reflects on Emotional Speech at Daughter’s Wedding

    [ad_1]

Gordon Ramsay is opening up about the “tough” role of giving a speech on his daughter Holly‘s wedding day.

Ramsay, 59, and his daughter Tilly appeared on the Monday, January 5, episode of the U.K.’s This Morning, less than two weeks after Holly, 26, married Olympian Adam Peaty. Reflecting on his role as father of the bride, Ramsay admitted delivering a memorable speech was a “tough gig.”

“It’s tough, honestly,” he said. “Being the dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment, and that moment arrives, and you’re just like a hot mess. But the speech was perfect, it went well … You’ve got to be warm, emotional … It’s a tough gig.”

Tilly, 24, said she heard the speech before the big day. “I think it was Christmas Eve, I was sat in his room for an hour as he was just reading through it, going through everything, but no tweaks were needed,” she said. “It was perfect. It made everybody cry.”

Holly and Peaty, 31, exchanged vows on December 27, 2025, at The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul in the U.K. Holly told British Vogue in an interview published this month that she wanted her wedding dress to be “very traditional, quite modest” and “super feminine,” citing Grace Kelly and Princess Kate Middleton as inspirations.

The bride wore a custom Elie Saab gown with long sleeves and a full skirt for the ceremony, but she changed outfits before her first dance with Peaty, repurposing mom Tana Ramsay‘s dress from her 1996 wedding to Gordon.

“Honestly, it was a bit of a shock because she had it on for the majority of the night,” Gordon said on Monday before asking Tilly if she would ever consider wearing her mom’s wedding dress.

“I would love to,” Tilly replied, before her father joked, “You’ve got to get engaged.”

Speaking to British Vogue, Holly teased that her parents “would love it if I did one look,” but she couldn’t resist the special tribute to her mom. “I’ve always loved the idea of bringing in mum’s dress at some point,” she said. “It’s beautiful: silk with a V-neckline and pearls all the way around. I tried it on and it fit me perfectly — it didn’t need any altering.”

The Hell’s Kitchen star celebrated the big day via Instagram, sharing a handful of sweet snaps with his daughter. “I’m truly so lucky being able to walk this beautiful bride down the aisle and gaining an incredible son in law @adamramsaypeaty,” he wrote in the caption. “I love you so much @hollyramsaypeaty and couldn’t be a prouder Dad xxx.”

Peaty, meanwhile, gave fans a glimpse of the couple’s vows to one another in an Instagram video after their wedding day.

“Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty True Love ❤️ @hollyramsaypeaty congratulations love you both so much Dad ❤️,” Gordon wrote in the comments section.

  • Waste Management plans to build plant to turn landfill methane into useable natural gas

    [ad_1]

DENVER – All landfills face a similar challenge.

“Decomposition occurs of organic materials within the landfill as it’s compressed, and creates Methane and CO2,” said Zachery Clayton, Manager of Environmental Medicine Planning with the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment.

Denver owns the Denver Arapahoe Disposal Site or the so-called DADS Landfill in Arapahoe County. It’s operated by Waste Management that currently has a procedure to reduce methane gas.

“We’re actually capturing landfill methane gas, sending it to an electric engine plant, and we convert that gas into electricity and export it to the grid. Many of the residents throughout Denver enjoy that electricity, not even knowing that it came from the landfill,” said Brian Snyder, Director of Operations for Waste Management (WM) Renewable Energy.

In that process, there is excess methane that is then burned off, or ‘flared.’

“What it does is, it burns all the methane off, and then there’s subsequent pollutants that go into there, such as sulfur oxides and things like that, nitrous oxides,” said Clayton.

WM and the City and County of Denver recently agreed on a partnership to change and update that whole process.

    Denver7

WM is hoping to pay for and build a new renewable natural gas plant at the DADS landfill.

“It’s going to capture about 98% of the methane that comes out of the landfill. It goes to the plant, it scrubs it, it cleans it to 98% and then it puts it into a pipeline and transmission line and goes out for distribution,” said Clayton.

The renewable natural gas can then be used as power.

“We’re going to collect over a million MMBtu of gas from the landfill, and that’s going to power nearly 15,000 homes with natural gas,” said Snyder.

Snyder adds WM has already started investing into compressed natural gas vehicles, and plans to use some of the gas from the new plant to power around 900 trash collection vehicles a year.

    waste management.png

    Denver7

There’s another large impact for anyone outside the landfill.

“Improve the air quality: that’s number one, which is extremely beneficial. It takes something that’s currently, could be dangerous, and puts it as a beneficial reuse,” said Clayton.

The project still needs to go through the planning and permitting phase. Clayton said that will also include a public input process.

If approved to move forward, the plant could be up and running by 2027.

People reported that the estranged couple threw a Snow White-themed party for Blaze at Ready, Set FUN! in Atlanta, Georgia, on Saturday, November 22. The outlet published a photograph of Burruss and Tucker posing together with Blaze, who wore a princess dress. (The former couple also share a son, Ace, 8, while Kandi has an older daughter, Next Gen NYC star Riley Burruss, 23, from a previous relationship.)

Both Burruss, 49, and Tucker, 53, also posted separate birthday messages for Blaze via Instagram on Saturday.

“Happy birthday to my little twin @blazetucker!!! Time is flying by! I can’t believe you’re six years old already… so strong, smart, talented, creative, big personality, & a winner! My beautiful little princess,” Burruss wrote alongside a carousel of photos. “I love you so much. Everybody give @blazetucker some bday love!”

Tucker shared his own carousel of photos, along with the birthday shoutout: “Happy Birthday to my Baby Blaze! She [is] my Beautiful little princess! She warms my heart every time I see her. @blazetucker where did the time go 6 yrs old! Daddy. Loves you with all his heart!!!”

Only one day before Blaze’s birthday party, Burruss released a statement to Us Weekly to confirm her separation from Tucker after 11 years of marriage.

“After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. This is a difficult and emotional time, but my focus remains on protecting my peace, being the best mother I can be, and co-parenting with love and respect,” Burruss, told Us.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum continued, “I’m stepping into a new chapter pouring into my work, my family and my own growth. I’m grateful to everyone who supported us throughout the years, and I ask for privacy, grace and understanding as we navigate this transition with our family.”

The shocking separation announcement was made one week after Burruss paid tribute to Tucker while accepting the Wifetime Achievement Award at BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas on November 14. She celebrated Tucker for standing by her side throughout all of the mudslinging that comes with being a Housewife.

“To Todd, thank you for surviving the blogs, the shade, the rumors, the lies, the truth, the almost fights, the actual fights, the reunions,” she said with a laugh. “You earned this award too.”

In April 2024, the former couple dodged a fresh round of split rumors shortly after Burruss announced her departure from RHOA. (The singer-songwriter spent 14 seasons as one of Atlanta’s Housewives before quitting in February 2024.).

“It is tough. You’re always on stage and you can’t really kind of relax out in public,” Tucker admitted exclusively to Us. “But for me, I think from doing reality TV early on with her, I really don’t pay it any more. We know what’s going on.”

  • Does Selena Quintanilla Have Kids? She Was Not Pregnant at Time of Death

    [ad_1]

The 1997 murder of pop star Selena Quintanilla fueled endless gossip about her personal life.

One of the biggest questions that has persisted for the 30 years following Quintanilla’s death at age 23 was whether she was pregnant at the time of her murder. (Quintanilla was fatally shot by her former friend and business associate Yolanda Saldívar in Corpus Christie, Texas, on March 31, 1995. She was convicted of first-degree murder in October of that year.)

A hoax about Quintanilla’s supposed pregnancy sprang up during the early days of the internet, with Saldívar seemingly lending credence to the speculation in subsequent jailhouse interviews.

Prior to the release of Netflix’s Selena y Los Dinos documentary in November 2025, Quintanilla’s widower, Chris Pérez, tried to clear up the pregnancy rumors. He has also offered insight into what his life was like with Quintanilla during their three years of marriage.

Nearly 27 years after Selena hit theaters in March 1997, Jon Seda is still pals with Chris Pérez, whom he portrayed in the biographical film. “I’m still friends with Chris. Chris is just an amazing guitarist and he’s still out there making his music. Check out his music, it’s incredible,” Seda, 53, exclusively told Us […]

Keep scrolling for more information about Quintanilla’s views on motherhood and the truth about whether she was pregnant at the time of her murder.

    Does Selena Quintanilla Have Kids?

No. Selena Quintanilla and her husband Chris Pérez had no children together.

The 2025 documentary Selena y Los Dinos featured archival footage of Quintanilla speaking to a reporter about the prospect of becoming a mom, according to People.

“I would love to have children in the future. I think it is a part of my womanhood that, as a woman, I feel that I am missing it,” Quintanilla said. “More so in the future. I feel that I have to extract all of the goals that I have in my mind and achieve them.”

She added, “In the future, when I have time to take care of my children, well, of course I’m going to have kids. Like six. Another group!”

Another segment in the documentary featured Selena’s sister, Suzette Quintanilla, reflecting on her discussions with the “Dreaming of You” singer about their future.

“After she was married with Chris, she would just always tell me about her dreams. She would take off her makeup and always put her hair in a bun,” Suzette recalled. “We would talk about getting married, about me getting married one day, about her having children, her kids and my kids were gonna play together and we were going to make sure that we were going to raise them together. Normal stuff.”

Following Selena’s death, Chris was married to his second wife, Vanessa Villanueva, from 2001 to 2008. Chris and Vanessa share two children: Cassie and Noah.

Was Selena Quintanilla Pregnant When She Died?

No. Selena’s widower Chris has routinely denied persistent rumors that she was pregnant at the time of her death.

While promoting his memoir, To Selena, with Love, in 2012, Chris denied the pregnancy theories, along with speculation that he and Selena were planning to divorce.

“I could fill a whole book just about [those rumors],” Perez told Chron. “There were some things that were just ridiculous.”

What Has Selena Quintanilla’s Widower Chris Perez Said About Their Marriage?

Chris has occasionally spoken about his marriage to Selena over the years, including writing warmly about her in his memoir, To Selena, with Love.

The couple’s romance grew out of their musical collaborations, as Chris was a member of his future wife’s tejano band, Selena y Los Dinos. In Netflix’s 2025 documentary, Chris reflected on what life was like for one of the world’s biggest stars.

“Selena was always going, always on,” he said. “I think ‘road life’ started to become pretty busy, pretty hectic.”

Chris remembered that one of Selena’s favorite hobbies during her downtime was designing clothing.

“Doing the designing was something that made her happy,” Chris said. “She would set some time aside — quiet time. She would have her sketch pads and she would start going to town … Some of our outfits that we wore onstage were drawn by her.”

Elsewhere, Chris admitted that he’d struggled with “guilt” about the way Selena died. He said he had been aware that Yolanda Saldívar once showed off a pistol to his wife but was assured by Selena that Yolanda planned to return the gun. (Yolanda originally bought a Taurus Model 85 .38-caliber revolver from a San Antonio gun range. She later returned the weapon before re-purchasing the gun days before using it in the fatal shooting.)

“There was a lot of that. A lot of [guilt] going through my mind,” he told Chron. “But when something happens like that so quickly, and the way it happened, I think it’s only natural for most people to feel the same way. The reason something like that happens is because nobody expected it to happen. We didn’t think this person was capable of doing what she did.”

Ben Stiller examined his parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara’s enduring legacy — and the downside of their fame — in the 2025 documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost.

Jerry and his wife were not only partners in life, but they also formed a popular comedy duo that performed in major venues across the U.S. throughout Ben and his sister Amy Stiller’s childhood in the 1960s and ‘70s.

In Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, Ben admitted that his parents’ connection was volatile and that he remembered hearing “raised voices” often in his childhood.

Keep scrolling for more on Jerry and Meara’s life and careers.

    Who Was Jerry Stiller?

Jerry served in the U.S. Army in World War II and returned home to study at Syracuse University. He took part in various New York theatre productions in the early ‘50s, before meeting Meara in 1953.

The two were married the following year and soon began performing together as a comedic duo. Jerry and Meara were among the earliest members of the famed Second City improv troupe in Chicago, which subsequently launched the careers of Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert and Amber Ruffin, among countless others.

Jerry and Meara became recurring guests on The Ed Sullivan Show in the 1960s and hosted their own short-form series that aired after Saturday Night Live in syndication.

Aside from his comedy team, Jerry memorably played George Constanza’s curmudgeonly father Frank Costanza on the classic TV sitcom Seinfeld, for which he earned an Emmy Award nomination. Other notable roles included starring opposite Kevin James as Arthur Spooner in The King of Queens and doing voiceover work for Disney.

Jerry frequently appeared in his son Ben’s projects, with notable roles in both Zoolander films and Heavyweights, among others.

Ben announced his father’s death at age 92 from natural causes in May 2020 and paid tribute to his comedic legacy.

“I’m sad to say that my father, Jerry Stiller, passed away from natural causes,” he tweeted. “He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He will be greatly missed. Love you Dad.”

    Who Was Anne Meara?

The comedian had a very difficult childhood, as her mother Mary Dempsey died by suicide when Meara was only 10 years old.

As a teenager, Meara studied under famed acting teacher Uta Hagen at New York City’s prestigious New School. However, she credited her future husband Jerry with convincing her to try comedy.

“Jerry started us being a comedy team,” she revealed. “He always thought I would be a great comedy partner.”

Aside from her comedy team with her husband, Meara was nominated for four Emmy Awards throughout her life. She won a Writers Guild of America Award for cowriting the 1983 TV movie The Other Woman.

Like her husband, Meara worked extensively in TV sitcoms, including Rhoda, Archie Bunker’s Place and Alf throughout the 1970s and ‘80s. She memorably played Steve Brady’s mother Mary on Sex and the City and joined her husband Jerry on The King of Queens.

Meara faced numerous health issues throughout her life, with her son Ben later revealing that she struggled with alcoholism.

“My mother had issues across her life with alcoholism,” Ben acknowledged in 2023. “She got sober and really explored that stuff … She had so much trauma [in her life] and the thing that I’m so grateful for is that, I think so many people who live with alcoholism in their families, it’s never dealt with. It’s never, ever explored or even talked about.”

He went on, “What I’m grateful for is she really delved into that in her therapy. For someone who’s a functioning alcoholic, it’s basically that you’re trying to navigate that because it’s not dramatic.”

Meara died at age 85 in May 2015 after suffering multiple strokes.

What Did Ben Stiller Say About His Parents?

Ben explored his complicated relationship with his parents in the 2025 Apple TV documentary Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost, which premiered at the New York Film Festival in October 2025.

In the film, Ben opened up about the resentment he felt towards his father Jerry for not tackling his mom’s alcoholism head-on.

“When [my mom] was drinking, my dad never really knew how to handle it,” Stiller explained. “I think he loved her so much and he was so committed to her. Also the act and what they did together was so important, that he had to figure out how to deal with that on his own. But I think I resented him for not acknowledging it to us.”

Ben said that he and sister Amy always knew that their father “loved us more than anything,” though it was always painful to see their mother struggle.

“I think he was just trying to figure out how to navigate that and I got so angry at him for not being there for us but I don’t even think I understood that for awhile,” he recalled.

However, Ben and his wife, Christine Taylor, also reflected on the way Meara was able to empathize and support them once she got sober.

“She would see me as a new mother, during those moments where it was crazy and frenetic, and tell me how great a job I was doing,” Taylor said. “It was a way to make me feel so good about what I was doing, but [also] her acknowledging what she couldn’t do.”

Speaking to Time about the documentary, Ben stressed how important it was to show that his parents’ fame was a double-edged sword.

“When people see the movie, you can see how organic it was for my sister and I to be a part of this world,” Stiller noted. “It was our reality and it’s what we grew up in and we loved it when we were kids. The flip side was, it took our parents away from us, which any creative endeavor does. You have a creative parent, part of them is going to be dedicated to their creativity, if they’re a real artist. They can’t deny that.”

  • Miley Cyrus Reveals Dad Billy Ray Cyrus ‘Cried’ Over Birthday Song

    [ad_1]

Billy Ray Cyrus had an emotional reaction when daughter Miley Cyrus gifted him the song “Secrets” for his birthday.

“My dad cried,” Miley, 32, recalled during an interview with CBS Sunday Morning published on Sunday, October 5. “You know, you don’t see your dad cry a lot. But with me and my dad, we just have always communicated better through music with each other.”

When asked if the father-daughter duo are “at peace now with each other,” Miley replied, “Yeah.”

Miley revealed in June that the track, off her Something Beautiful album, was written with Billy Ray, 64, in mind.

“I wrote this song about my dad, because I wanted him to tell me, even though they were secrets, even though I didn’t really wanna know, I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family,” she said on the “Reclaiming With Monica Lewinsky” podcast at the time.

Miley continued, “But I wanted him to think that, as a middle child, I’m old enough that I could take some of that you know. And I always wanted my family to feel like I was the safe place, that I always had the white flag when they came to talk to me.”

In August, Billy Ray gushed over Miley’s gesture while sharing a snippet of the song. “Secrets / I want to keep your secrets / Like sunlight in the shadows / Like footsteps in the grass,” Miley can be heard singing.

“For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called ‘Secrets’ and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it!” Billy Ray wrote via Instagram at the time. “ I love you Miley ❤️.”

Miley and Billy Ray, who was married to Tish Cyrus until their 2022 divorce, have been open about their relationship ups and downs through the years. (Billy Ray and Tish, 58, also share Braison, 31, Noah, 25. Billy Ray adopted Tish’s children Brandi, 38, and Trace, 36, after their marriage. He’s also dad to Christopher, 33, whom he shares with ex Kristin Luckey.)

“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” Miley wrote in a May Instagram statement. “Now, in my 30s, family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing.”

Miley shared that her perspective on their family dynamics has changed through the years.

“As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom’s really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard,” she said during a May interview for The New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast. “I think I took on some of my mom’s hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.”

  • Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner’s Daughter Violet Gives United Nations Speech

    [ad_1]

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner‘s daughter Violet delivered a speech in support of mask mandates at the United Nations.

Violet, 19, attended the United Nations on Tuesday, September 23, as a youth advocate and spoke out in favor of clean air and masking to prevent the transmission of long Covid.

“We are told by leaders across the board that we are the future,” she said while wearing a K95 mask. “But when it comes to the ongoing pandemic, our present is being stolen right in front of our eyes.”

Violet called out adults for “the relentless beat of back to normal, ignoring downplaying, and concealing both the prevalence of airborne transmission and the threat of long Covid. … Young people lacked both real choice in the matter and information about what was being chosen for us.”

Jennifer Garner has portrayed many memorable roles over the years, but none as loving as her role as a mom to her and her ex-husband Ben Affleck’s three kids. The former couple tied the knot in June 2005 and started growing their family that same year. Violet arrived in December 2005, followed by Seraphina and […]

The college freshman elaborated on the virus.

“Here’s what we know about SARS CoV2. It is airborne, floating and lingering in the air, one infection can result in disabling damage to almost every cell in the body from the brain and heart to the nerves and blood vessels,” she explained. “Every subsequent infection increases the risk of long movement and places people who already have it in greater danger.”

Violet continued: “As Dr. Akiko Iwasaki says, at this point, the whole population is the control group, and after only five years, long Covid has surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in children in five years and under.”

Later in her speech, Violet said she was “terrified” for children in school who “will not know a world without debilitating pain and exhaustion, who cannot trust their bodies to play, explore, and imagine” after being infected.

“I am furious on their behalf,” she continued. “It is a neglect of the highest order to look children in the eyes and say, ‘We knew how to protect you and we didn’t do it. We have access to a technology to prevent airborne disease, something that millions of our ancestors and millions of people around the world today would kill for, and we refuse to use it.’”

Violet also expressed her fears about “where we will be in another five years of unmitigated infection and reinfection.” She elaborated by bringing up the movement to ban smoking in public spaces.

Fatherhood fun! Ben Affleck has given rare glimpses of his bond with his and Jennifer Garner’s three kids over the years. The actor first became a dad in December 2005 when he and the Alias alum welcomed daughter Violet, six months after tying the knot in France. The then-couple went on to welcome daughter Seraphina […]

“Many of you fought the long and hard battle against indoor smoking. My only memory of that era at almost 20 years old is being confused as a child about the no smoking signs on planes. ‘Who would do that? That’s gross,’” she recalled. “My hope for this event and my belief in this community pressed on the belief that we can and we must do that again. We can recognize filtered air as a human right, as intuitively as we do filtered water.”

She concluded: “We can create clean air infrastructure that is so ubiquitous and so obviously necessary, so that tomorrow’s children don’t even know why we need it.”

Affleck and Garner, both 53, were married from 2005 to 2018. Along with Violet, the former couple share Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. Violet has stepped out with her famous mother on several occasions, including a 2022 state dinner at the White House. Earlier this year, the teen wrote an emotional essay about the impact of recent California wildfires on her community.

  • Stephen Baldwin Opens Up About Daughter Hailey Bieber and Her Success

    [ad_1]

Stephen Baldwin is a proud dad! The Fled actor made a rare comment about daughter Hailey Bieber’s success during his Wednesday, September 17, appearance on Tori Spelling’s “MisSPELLING” podcast.

“Some people achieve all different levels of experience and success. Look at my daughter. I never talk about her, but my daughter has done the impossible, relatively. But in this day and age, in the last 10 years, it’s not impossible. It’s happened,” Baldwin, 59, said. “It’s like these kinds of successes are happening. And young people are making unbelievable amounts of money on the Internet in ways that are very sketchy. So God bless her.”

Stephen shares Hailey, 28, and daughter Alaia, 32, with wife Kennya Baldwin.

Both Hailey and Alaia are fashion models who have worked with brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein and more. Alaia is also an advocate for endometriosis awareness. Meanwhile, Hailey launched her skincare brand, Rhode, in 2022. e.l.f. Beauty acquired the brand for $1 million in May, and Stephen praised Hailey for the business move.

“The cool part of it is she’s super smart, smart in business,” Stephen said on “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast in July. “Succeeded as a model prior to everything she’s doing now. But the cool part was she actually had an offer to do something pretty big and cool in the cosmetics a couple years ago and didn’t.”

Stephen added that Hailey decided to make a product that she herself would want to use — and her gamble paid off.

“The reason it’s succeeding is people are responding to it. It actually works as hydration and all of that,” he continued.

Stephen also gushed about his daughters’ romantic partners. (Hailey married Justin Bieber in 2018, and the pair welcomed son Jack Blues in August 2024. Meanwhile, Alaia tied the knot with businessman Andrew Aronow in 2017, and they share daughter Iris, 5.)

“I’m blessed that my two daughters married two great guys,” he gushed.

Stephen concluded, “The sweet part of my kids too is, in the wake of whatever their success is, their dad remains the same. I’ve always been the same way. You know you’re going to tell your daughter the truth.”

Back in December, Stephen gushed about his life as a grandfather of two and how much he was looking forward to Christmas with Jack, now 13 months old.

“He’s grown like a weed. Actually, he looks like a little plump potato,” the Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test alum told TooFab. “He’s so cute. I can’t stand it. I want to say so much.”

Stephen also shared his special grandparent nickname.

“Grampy. We’re going with Grampy. But it’s with a W. A lot of people don’t know that,” he continued. “So G-W-A-M-P-Y is Gwampy. So that’s kind of the handle I’ve been going with. It was my granddaughter Iris, my first grandchild. It was the name she gave me.”

  • Inside Charlie Sheen and Daughter Sami Sheen’s Complicated History

    [ad_1]

Charlie Sheen and daughter Sami Sheen have had their fair share of ups and downs over the years.

Charlie welcomed Sami with ex-wife Denise Richards in March 2004. The Two and a Half Men actor was already a father to daughter Cassandra, whom he shares with high school girlfriend Paula Profit. Charlie and Richards later welcomed daughter Lola in June 2005, a few months after the pair split.

In addition to his divorce from Richards, Charlie struggled with substance abuse and addiction throughout Sami’s childhood. Charlie ultimately got sober in December 2017.

While Charlie has been on the path to sustained recovery, his relationship with Sami has included many rough patches. In March 2025, Sami exclusively told Us Weekly that her bond with her dad is “complicated.”

Keep scrolling to see what Charlie and Sami have said about their relationship over the years:

    Moving in With Dad

Sami briefly moved in with Charlie in 2021, after dropping out of high school and having tension with her mom.

“Sam’s amazing. I love her and all my children unconditionally,” Charlie told Us through his rep, Jeff Ballard, at the time. “We’re having a ball. GED here we come!”

    OnlyFans Disagreement

After Sami turned 18, she joined OnlyFans. While Richards was supportive of the venture, Charlie shared his disappointment.

“I do not condone this but since I’m unable to prevent it, I urged her to keep it classy, creative and not sacrifice her integrity,” Charlie exclusively told Us in a statement in June 2022, while also noting that Sami no longer lived with him and was back with Richards.

One month later, Sami shared she was unbothered by her father’s disapproval.

“I don’t really mind, it’s totally fine,” she told TMZ at the time.

    Tough Childhood

Sami has been candid about how her dad’s substance abuse struggles took a toll on her at a young age.

“My whole childhood, I want to say like the first 13 years, my dad was very in and out of my life,” she said during an April 2025 episode of Gia Giudice’s “Casual Chaos” podcast. “It was the worst if we had an event and he said he was going to show up and then we wouldn’t hear from him or he would show up, like, 10 hours late. So we kind of just stopped asking him to come to stuff.”

Sami added that she could not recall “one memory” from her childhood when Charlie was sober.

    Not on Speaking Terms

In April 2025, Sami claimed via social media that she had not spoken to her father in a year.

“When people wonder why I haven’t spoken to my dad in a year but this is my dad,” she captioned a TikTok video.

    Hoping to Make Amends

During a September 2025 appearance on Good Morning America, Charlie shared that he’s hopeful to repair his relationship with Sami.

“As long as everybody is still in the game, there’s always a shot for a better tomorrow. I don’t really know what I did, that’s the problem,” he reflected. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to apologize for. But I have absolute faith that this is not a forever thing. Her and I will work it out.”

    His Sobriety Inspiration

Charlie recalled in his memoir, The Book of Sheen, how an incident with Sami was the wake-up call he needed to get sober.

“It was December 10, 2017, and by 9 a.m. I was on my third Macallan-spiked coffee,” he wrote. “My phone rang and when I picked up, it was my daughter Sam asking what time we were leaving. S***; her appointment that day had slipped my mind. I’ve never mixed the cups with the wheel, so I called Tony T. to come bail me out of a situation he was all too familiar with. There’s reliable and then there’s that dood.”

Charlie continued: “My man was there in twenty-two minutes, and in very short order we were on the road with 13-year-old Sam in the back seat and the two adults up front. (Well, one adult for sure). Thanks to T, the trip was handled with a combination of precision and grace.”

He remembered Sami being “very quiet” during the drive home.

“I didn’t need to be clairvoyant to know exactly what she was thinking,” he penned. “Why is Dad not driving again? Why isn’t it just the two of us in the car like it used to be? When will that moment ever return? When will Dad ever return? I miss him. I missed him too. There was only one thing that felt worse than betraying myself, and that was failing my children.”

After that moment, Charlie vowed to get better for his kids.

“I knew exactly what had to be done,” he wrote. “Like I’ve always said, life comes down to doers and talkers, and there was really nothing left for me to say — it was time to shut the f*** up and get busy doing. Sam wasn’t my final straw; she was my first harvest. On December 11, I took two Valium and drank three beers. On December 12, I quit drinking for good.”

Following the release of his book, Sami shared her reaction to her dad’s revelation and gave his documentary a “10/10” review.

“I didn’t know I was the reason he got sober,” she said in a September 2025 TikTok.

  • Charlie Sheen Explains Why He Missed Daughter Cassandra’s Birth

    [ad_1]

Charlie Sheen is sharing insight into why he missed the birth of his first daughter, Cassandra Estevez.

The actor, 60, recalled in The Book of Sheen: A Memoir, which was released Tuesday, September 9, a period of time when he began seeing his high school ex-girlfriend Paula Profit “for the late night physical benefits.”

Sheen noted that Profit was “all [he] knew” besides “Candy in real-Vegas and the L.A. Xpress on Pico Boulevard.” (Elsewhere in the memoir, Sheen revealed he had sex for the first time with “a gorgeous red-headed Vegas escort named Candy.”)

“[Paula’s] mom had a two-bedroom flat on the second floor of a building near Samohi,” he wrote in the memoir. “Paula’s room had a fire escape just outside of it that I’d scale for our late-night trysts. That went on for about a month until we dropped the birth control ball, and Paula clocked back in as a plus-one.”

Charlie Sheen comes from a famous family — and he’s passing on the torch to daughters Cassandra Estevez, Sami Sheen and Lola Sheen, and twin sons Bob and Max Sheen. The Two and a Half Men alum became a father for the first time in 1984 when he welcomed Cassandra with his high school sweetheart, […]

Sheen explained that Profit had just turned 19, while he was 18.

“Not exactly the life direction, at that moment, either of us saw for ourselves,” he wrote. “I pleaded my case, but she held firm. After a goodly amount of soul-searching, I came around a bit later. On December 12, 1984, sometime in the late afternoon, Paula gave birth to a healthy seven-pound baby girl named Cassandra.”

He continued, “An absolute gift to humanity. I didn’t attend the birth. My ‘a bit later’ didn’t turn the corner until after the new year. We’ve been good since — for the most part. (Not being f***ing married probably helped.)”

Sheen went on to welcome daughters Sami, 21, and Lola, 20, with ex-wife Denise Richards — whom he was married to from 2002 to 2006 — and twin sons Bob and Max, 17, with third wife Brooke Mueller. Sheen and Mueller, 48, were together from 2008 to 2010. (He was first married to Donna Peele from 1995 to 1996.)

“They’ve made me a better man,” he told In Touch months after his sons were born.

Sheen has been candid through the years about fatherhood, sharing a sweet moment with Casandra in 2010 when he walked her down the aisle to marry her childhood sweetheart, Casey Huffman. Three years later, Sheen became a grandfather when the couple welcomed daughter Luna.

“It’s impossibly a most wondrous day,” Charlie gushed to TMZ at the time while reflecting on the birth of his first grandchild. “My bucket list is a thimble!”

The 24 Very Best Gifts for Dad

Your dad probably isn’t going to complain about any gift you give him. For better or worse, most modern dads don’t get hung up on presents. You know the meme of the older, bearded gentleman with a goofy smile opening a shirt just like the one he has on? There’s a lot of truth to that meme. However, I am not only a dad and a gear reviewer but also someone with a specific philosophy about what makes a good gift for middle-aged men like me.

You’ll notice some threads running through this manifesto guide: The best gifts for a dad are things that not only are relevant to his interests but also can be fairly described as “overkill.” Dads tend to like things that are overbuilt but useful. I’m sure some dads want to be “pampered,” but this is not me or the dads I know, who all physically cringed reading this sentence.

If you take away one idea, I hope it’s that when it comes to a gift for a dad, you can rarely go wrong by giving an expensive but excellent version of a thing we use anyway. We especially like things that win the admiration of our peers—nothing makes a dad happier than having another dad-aged dude take note of his stupidly expensive tire pressure gauge and then saying, “Oh, yeah, my kid got me that—they’re a little pricey but I gotta say, always works great.”

Playing with dad does more than just create fun memories—it provides essential brain-building engagement. Surprising new research from the UK reveals the overlooked ways a father’s playtime involvement uniquely equips kids for academic and social success.

“When dads devote time to active play and engagement, there are tangible benefits from involving dads,” said psychologist Dr. John Gottman, co-founder of The Gottman Institute. “Playtime with dad represents a golden opportunity to bolster children’s cognitive, emotional, and social skills.”

The Major Study Revealing the Impacts of Dad’s Play

The new insights come from a major study out of the University of Leeds, tracking impacts of father-child play from toddlerhood up to age seven.

The study, titled “Paternal Involvement and its Effects on Children’s Education (PIECE),” analyzed data on nearly 5,000 families in the UK over a seven year period. Published in 2023, the PIECE study linked fathers’ playtime involvement to benchmarks like school readiness tests and social skills assessments as children progressed through primary school.

The big revelation was that engaged playtime with dad starting early in a child’s life provided benefits that lasted. We sat down with Dr. Gottman to get his take on the findings and why fathers’ play matters.

Why Focused Playtime Makes a Difference

The study found that purposeful educational play activities like reading together, doing crafts projects, or playing logic games were most impactful for building kids’ cognitive abilities. This type of engaged play was linked to better grades and test scores more than free play alone.

“Dad’s focused play naturally provides enrichment that stimulates young minds,” Dr. Gottman explained. “This interactive learning comes instinctually through play with fathers.”

But why does it matter whether these activities are done with dad versus mom?

Mothers contributed profoundly through emotional support and other means. This highlights the complementary developmental roles parents play. The diversity of maternal and paternal interactions introduced more skills.

“Fathers tend to engage kids through physical, problem-solving play that builds different capabilities,” said Dr. Gottman. “Kids gain by having both experiences.”

    Why Starting Early Matters

A key finding was that regular father-child playtime early in a child’s life established patterns of involvement. Early engagement led to more play interactions as kids aged.

“Consistent, engaged playtime shows kids they’re a priority amid dad’s responsibilities,” advised Dr. Gottman. “And the developmental gains reveal how profoundly children benefit from that time together.”

The researchers recommend even 10-15 minutes per day of purposeful playtime with dad. Consistency is key, as is focused interaction. Treat playtime as precious child-enrichment time.

    Putting Playtime into Action

For dads, the message is clear – harnessing play is a powerful way to influence your child’s potential through positive involvement. Make time for it consistently.

For mothers, encourage dad’s playtime and underscore its value for kids. Fathers may take cues from moms modeling play and emphasizing its importance.

For parents, unlocking play’s full potential starts with making the most of purposeful playtime together. Discover the essentials for developmental play with our new interactive parenting guide [link to platform/toolkit]. Start activating the power of play today.
