Notorious Needle Announces Grand Opening With the Effin’ Flowers Cross Stitch Collection

    [ad_1]

The Notorious Needle’s delightfully unexpected Effin’ Flowers cross stitch pattern collection will embolden contemporary stitchers to “break the rules” starting Sept. 6, 2019 exclusively on Etsy.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 23, 2019

The Notorious Needle would like to announce their grand opening by introducing their very first line of cross stitch designs: The Effin’ Flowers Collection. Using the classic, relaxing form of fiber art to buck tradition, the collection will be available exclusively in the Notorious Needle Etsy store starting Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.

This highly-anticipated collection of cross stitch patterns juxtaposes lovely floral wreaths with rude phrases, drawing on the especially popular current trend of coarse memes written in beautiful, swirling script. Stitchers worldwide will have a blast whipping up charming housewarming decor while shocking friends and family with boorish wording. Choose from over 40 patterns with various color moods paired simply with one of many surly phrases like “Nope”, popular in the US, or some other less polite four-letter words.

For the especially adventurous stitcher, Effin’ Flowers includes never-before-seen 3D cross-stitched letters, taking cross stitch into the next dimension. Each letter combines a retro, 80’s inspired diamond design with some of today’s trendy colors: sea green, pale yellow, and the 2019 Pantone color of the year: living coral.

The Notorious Needle has tutorials available on the site so that cross stitch beginners can create their own handmade wall art. Each pattern also includes a free quick start guide to help beginners, or a cheat sheet for those returning to the craft. The 3D patterns also include a video tutorial unique to each design so that the stitcher knows exactly how to put it together, step-by-step.

Designer and Founder Sarah Vargas believes in the curative power of creativity and handmade art. After escaping domestic violence and struggling with the resulting depression, she reverted to her childhood comfort of cross stitch – with a twist. By stitching what was taboo, the freedom of art as self-expression helped her heal, along with loving friends and family. Now she works to pay it forward and help others discover the liberation and laughter that can be found in making snarky, sassy stitches.

“We are walled in by expectations,” Sarah says. “Just because we’ve always done it that way, isn’t good enough. Bonus points if it makes you laugh.”

For the first time, Sarah has created an entire line of over 40 designs of her favorite, cathartic cross stitch patterns. The Effin’ Flowers Collection is scheduled to go live on Sept. 6, 2019. The collection will be sold exclusively at the Notorious Needle Etsy shop at etsy.com/shop/NotoriousNeedle.

Digital Artisanal Launches Standalone Online Store With 54 Simple Modern Cross Stitch Patterns

    [ad_1]

After building a loyal fanbase with its free clickable pattern maker, DigitalArtisanal.com has entered the online retail space with three updated pattern collections for crafters who want to stitch simple projects that look great in their homes.

    Press Release

    updated: Jul 30, 2018

When Brianne Benness decided to start cross stitching again for the first time since childhood, she was excited that the traditional craft was having a modern resurgence. While there are pages and pages of cute, funny and subversive cross stitch patterns available for sale online, none of them really spoke to Benness. As an editor and designer with a background in architecture, she really wanted to create her own patterns.

Traditional design software like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are poorly suited to making cross stitch patterns, which require a limited color palette, a grid structure and a final product that has small symbols representing each color instead of pixels. On the other hand, cross stitch pattern software did not offer the kind of design flexibility that Benness was used to. So she wrote her own program using the Processing design language and released a basic version of the cross stitch pattern maker on DigitalArtisanal.com.

Stitchers today want modern cross stitch patterns that will complement their style. The DIY home decor trend has made us all more aware of how beautiful our spaces can be, and cross stitch is the perfect way to create affordable accents for any room.

“Stitchers today want modern cross stitch patterns that will complement their style,” said Brianne Benness, founder and lead designer at Digital Artisanal. “The DIY home decor trend has made us all more aware of how beautiful our spaces can be, and cross stitch is the perfect way to create affordable accents for any room.”

So far, Benness has used her program to design three unique collections that stitchers can purchase in the new Digital Artisanal Store. The Sakonnet Collection includes 10 patterns with a fresh green palette and design elements including Helvetica Black and geometric fills that will appeal to every minimalist. The Suffragist Collection combines the pop art aesthetic with five noted American Suffragists to create bold accent pieces in two different sizes. And the AIGA Icons Collection features 34 classic graphic symbols that have been converted to small three-inch projects that are perfect for any design geek who is just starting to stitch.

Digital Artisanal launched the new online store to friends and family on July 29, and the grand opening sale will begin Aug. 1. Benness plans to keep the pattern maker available for free and to release a new collection in the store this fall.

Peacock & Fig Gets Regal With Launch of the Royal Proclamations Cross Stitch Pattern Collection

Bringing an aristocratic twist to modern cross stitch patterns, Peacock & Fig introduces this royal-themed collection to global fans.

    Press Release

    updated: Oct 10, 2017

On October 18, 2017, Peacock & Fig will be releasing the Royal Proclamations cross stitch pattern collection, pairing the distinctive graceful designs of Peacock & Fig with cheeky phrases and elegant typography. From wedding cross stitch patterns to new baby patterns and other life milestones, the Royal Proclamations collection allows stitchers to celebrate their life like royalty. Inspired by vintage illustrations and paintings, the Royal Proclamations collection seamlessly blends regal imagery with customizable options. The sassy phrases Peacock & Fig is known for are also featured in this collection, just enough to add a little “spark” to traditional wedding and baby samplers. With gorgeous flowing typography, sparkling beads, and shimmering metallics, the Royal Proclamations cross stitch patterns will become cherished heirlooms for generations to come. The collection features some traditional samplers, such as baby cross stitch patterns customizable with the baby’s birth details. Or for parents with a sense of humour, the “New Heir” pattern refers to the newborn as a potential “dud.” It also features patterns such as the resplendent “Royal Wedding” cross stitch pattern, with a sarcastic reference to the royal tradition of marrying within the family. Anniversaries, bridal showers, and birthdays are also celebrations highlighted in the collection. The collection also has free video tutorials for those new to beading, and how to easily handle the specialty metallic Kreinik floss that is featured in these designs. Peacock & Fig has dozens of tutorials on the site and accompanying YouTube channel, so even beginner stitchers can tackle any of these patterns with confidence.

Following the popular Spirited Animals collection, designer Dana Batho is so excited that sneak peeks of the upcoming Royal Proclamations collection have been received so well. “I’ve gotten so much feedback from people saying ‘Finally!!!’ when I show them previews of these patterns. Traditional wedding and baby samplers are often very sweet but have very little personality — I think with this collection, stitchers will finally have the opportunity to celebrate the big milestones in their lives with style and humour.” Peacock & Fig’s designs have been featured in Cross Stitch Crazy and Just CrossStitch, and the easy-to-follow tutorials have also been featured on BuzzFeed and Hello Giggles. “The response to the Spirited Animals collection has been amazing, it gives me such great joy to see people enjoying these patterns so much,” Dana says.

Dana explains her role as a designer as “helping people relax by stabbing something 20,000 times.” She shares her love of stitching not only as a hobby for others, but also as a means of physical or emotional therapy. Some stitchers have shared stories about finding cross stitch via a therapist as a recommended way to cope with anxiety or depression, and others have recently rediscovered the craft that their grandmother taught them as a child. Many others found cross stitch through funny memes on Instagram, and quickly learned how relaxing and easy it is. Dana understands the therapeutic benefits of stitching very well herself. She is a wounded veteran from the Canadian Armed Forces, and stitching helps her cope with daily chronic pain from her injury. “If I can help people to learn a healthy way to cope with physical and mental challenges, or even just the daily stress of juggling the kids and work and family responsibilities, that makes me really happy,” Dana says.
