The NYPD is searching for an unidentified perpetrator who landed a 37-year-old subway conductor in the hospital after punching him in the face aboard a Queens A train early Thursday morning.
Cops say that around 1:33 a.m. on Jan. 15, officers from the 101st Precinct and Transit District 23 responded to a 911 call reporting an assault on the conductor. The incident occurred while a Manhattan-bound A train was pulling into the Beach 25th Street station in Far Rockaway.
According to police, the victim reported being approached by the unidentified perpetrator, who then punched him in the face, causing him to hit his head on the train cabin wall.
EMS personnel rushed the victim to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, where he was in stable condition.
Police are still searching for the perpetrator, who they only described as wearing a black coat. They have yet to make an arrest and continue to investigate.
The MTA did not immediately offer comment on the incident. Ellen Moynihan, a spokesperson for the Transport Workers Union Local 100, stated that they are investigating the incident.
The NYPD classifies the infraction as a felony assault, a crime category that is up 112.5% in the 101st Precinct through Jan. 11 compared to the same period last year. There have been 17 felony assaults in the precinct so far this year.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Bullets flew steps away from Brooklyn’s Woodhull Hospital on Friday afternoon in a shooting that left three people — including two teenagers — wounded, police said.
Police said the gunfire erupted near the medical center, at the corner of Marcus Garvey Boulevard and Broadway, just after 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 24.
Officers from the 79th Precinct responded to the location after receiving a 911 call about a man shot at the location. When they arrived at the scene, they found one victim, a 33-year-old man, shot in his left thigh.
EMS rushed the victim to nearby Woodhull Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Moments later, police learned that two other victims of the shooting, both teenagers, had walked into Woodhull seeking treatment.
Cops said one victim, a 15-year-old girl, suffered a graze wound to her right foot, while the other, a 16-year-old boy, sustained a gunshot wound to the left side of his hip. Both were admitted and also listed in stable condition, law enforcement sources said.
As of Friday evening, police were still on the hunt for the suspect(s) involved in the shooting. It is not yet known what led up to the gunfire, or if the three victims were deliberately targeted.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, the NYPD said.

The NYPD narcotics detective who sources say was shot twice when he and other officers happened upon a carjacking in Queens Friday may have been hit by friendly fire, Mayor Eric Adams said.
“At this time, it appears it was a friendly fire incident,” Adams said during a press conference following the shooting.
A call about the officer shot, near 22nd Road and the Whitestone Expressway, came in around 9 a.m. The detective was said to have been shot in the leg and the arm.
Law enforcement sources say he was conscious and alert when he was taken into surgery. His injuries are non life-threatening and he is expected to make a full recover, Adams said during the presser.
Not much is known about the officer, but Adams said that he is a 12-year veteran of the NYPD whose wife is expecting a child.
.@NYCMayor has been briefed on the NYPD officer shot in the confines of the 109th pct and is headed to the hospital now.
According to the preliminary investigation, an Uber driver was parked just off the service road of the Whitestone Expressway when a man approaches and announces a robbery shortly before 9 a.m., NYPD Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said. near a Parsons Boulevard gas station. The driver gets out of the vehicle and is allegedly assaulted by the carjacking suspect, before he calls 911 to report the carjacking.
Police say in that case, the suspect stole a man’s car, then realized he didn’t have the key fob, so he got out and attacked the owner. The owner apparently tackled the suspect, suffering some leg and hand injuries in the process, in order to get the keys from the owner.
At this point, officers from the 109 Precinct are responding to the 911 call about the robbery and spot the car, Tisch said. Meanwhile, detectives assigned to the South Queens Narcotics Unit, spot the patrol officers attempting to arrest the alleged carjacker and try to help by blocking the car. Officers end up shooting, and while the suspect is not hit, one South Queens Narcotics officer was struck, Tisch said.
A suspect is in custody, officials say. The 28-year-old suspected carjacker has a history of past arrests involving robbery and assaulting officers. He was on parole for a robbery that took place in March when the incident on Friday took place, Adams said.
“He was literally arrested again and released yesterday with a desk appearance ticket,” Adams said. Before going out to attempt a carjacking in Queens, he walked out of one of our criminal justice locations.”

Praying for the NYPD detective shot in the line of duty this morning in Queens. Grateful his injuries are not life-threatening and wishing him a full recovery.
A burglary suspect trying to elude police in Queens hit a young woman on her bicycle, killing her, before abandoning the car with two other suspects and running away, authorities say.
According to the NYPD, cops tried to stop the pick-up truck near 34th Avenue and 37th Street in Astoria and the driver sped off. It was around 11 p.m. Tuesday and they were investigating a burglary on Crescent Street.
The details of the burglary case weren’t immediately clear. Police say the truck driver fled when officers tried to stop him, hitting the bicyclist, in her 30s, in his attempt to escape. The driver fled that scene, too.
The vehicle was later found abandoned on Newton Road. Police say it had been occupied by three males.
The bicyclist was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her name was not immediately released.

AURORA, Colo. — Police in Aurora are searching for the suspects who posed as delivery drivers and robbed a family at gunpoint in their home.
The incident happened Wednesday at 8:45 p.m. in the 4100 block of S. Richfield Street. Police said the suspects were dressed in construction vests and claimed they were there to drop off a package.
Denver7 spoke with the Rodriguez family Saturday, who said they’re still processing everything they’ve been through over the past few days.
Angelo Medina Rodriguez said he had ordered a video game for his son on Amazon, so he didn’t think much of it when Rodriguez saw a man through his Ring Doorbell video saying he had a package to deliver.
Rodriguez said his 6-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter were home with their friend and caretaker, David Hernandez, at the time.
When they opened the door, he said three men with guns forced their way in, demanding money.
“When [David] opened the door, they immediately pushed him and grabbed him by the neck,” Rodriguez said in Spanish. “They grabbed my daughter and started choking her.”
Hernandez told Denver7 that he was able to escape out the back door and run to a neighbor’s house for help.
“There was no need to hurt the kids,” Hernandez said. Since the incident, he said he hasn’t been able to sleep.
Rodriguez said his son and daughter suffered minor injuries from the attack and went to the hospital.
Rodriguez said the most challenging part of it has been how much it has impacted his wife and kids.
“My wife doesn’t want to come out, doesn’t want to eat,” he said. “My daughter won’t come out of her room.”
Rodriguez said he’s hoping his family can move to a new home soon because they no longer feel comfortable or safe living there.
Aurora investigators believe the family was targeted due to a business that was being run out of the home. The thieves stole personal items and cash from the business, according to police.
The Aurora Police Department is urging the community to be cautious of strangers at their doors. Delivery drivers traditionally wear branded uniforms, and you typically do not need to be home to receive a package.
Police also suggest that you consider alternate delivery options, such as picking up your mail from a P.O. box or choosing a “Hold for Pickup” option.
If something seems suspicious with your mail or delivery, contact the carrier and report the incident to your local police department.
Anyone with information about the Aurora home invasion is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous.

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the TransLatin@ Coalition commemorated a significant milestone as it marked the launch of its 15th Anniversary Campaign during a press conference held in Los Angeles. The event also served as a platform to unveil the organization’s 2023 Annual Report, shedding light on its journey, accomplishments, and ongoing commitments.
Led by Bamby Salcedo, President and CEO of the TransLatin@ Coalition, the press conference highlighted the perilous situations faced by transgender and Latinx individuals in their home countries, where they often confront insurmountable violence.
Salcedo emphasized the harsh reality that many flee to cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco seeking asylum, only to encounter further violence and danger, often leading to deportation and, tragically, sending them back to potential harm or death.
A poignant moment of the event was the unveiling of a new logo commemorating the organization’s 15th anniversary, aptly dubbed their “quinceañera.” This symbolizes not only a milestone but also a renewed commitment to advocacy and support for the TransLatin@ community.
In a groundbreaking announcement, Salcedo revealed plans for a $35 million state of the art multiservice and multipurpose space aimed at providing a safe and secure space for transgender and gender nonconforming individuals. With $20 million already secured, this initiative underscores the organization’s dedication to addressing the pressing needs of the community.
The TransLatin@ Coalition, founded in 2009 by a group of transgender and gender nonconforming immigrant women in Los Angeles, has evolved into a nationally recognized organization with a presence in 10 states across the U.S. It offers direct services to transgender, gender nonconforming, and intersex individuals in Los Angeles, with a focus on empowering and improving the quality of life for its members.
Since its inception, the organization has achieved numerous milestones, including the establishment of the Center for Violence Prevention and Transgender Wellness in 2015, the opening of the first-ever TransLatin@ office in 2016, and the launch of the #TransPolicyAgenda in 2019.
The TransLatin@ Coalition’s advocacy efforts have also extended to legislative triumphs, such as the passage of AB2218 in 2020, which allocates grant funding for transgender wellness and equity programs, and supporting bills like AB1163 and AB 1487, aimed at advancing transgender rights.
With the recent expansion to include the El Monte site and the opening of a new building on Sunset, the TransLatin@ Coalition continues to broaden its reach and impact, reaffirming its commitment to serving the community and creating inclusive spaces where history is made and celebrated.
“Beautiful and amazing people, who are trans, gender non-conforming, or intersex, please know that you are beautiful and amazing and that you are valued. Do not feel alone. There is a whole movement that is fighting for you. Continue to assert your presence within the tapestry of our society. We love you, we see you, we thank you,” Salcedo told the Blade.
As the organization looks ahead to the next 15 years and beyond, its mission to advocate for the specific needs of the TransLatin@ community remains steadfast, guided by values of altruism, respect, transparency, and collaboration.

Terrifying surveillance footage shows a man chasing a woman down a New York City street after following her in and out of the subway and calling her “cute,” authorities say.
According to the NYPD, the 48-year-old woman was on a northbound J train at the Cypress Hills station during a Tuesday morning rush hour earlier this month when the man stared at her and said, “Hey, you cute.”
The victim moved to another subway car on the train and the man followed her, sitting directly in front of her and continuing to stare, according to police.
The woman got off the train at the Jamaica-Parsons/Archer subway station — and the man followed. Video shows him chasing her down the street into a building. Once inside, police say they got into an altercation. Then he ran off.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
New York City has launched a number of security initiatives in recent weeks designed to enhance public perception of subway safety in light of several high-profile incidents, homicides included. On Thursday, Mayor Eric Adams announced plans to test a gun detector program in the transit system. Earlier this week, 800 NYPD officers flooded stations across the city in a bid to curb fare-beating, which officials say leads to escalating crimes.
LOS ANGELES – Investigators with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-West Bureau Special Assault Section (SAS) are seeking additional victims in a series of sexual assaults in the Hancock Park area.
On January 10, 2024, a 29-year-old woman reported that she was sexually assaulted by Kenneth Howard Dolin at his residence/photography studio in Wilshire Division. Dolin is a well-known photographer and acting coach.
KTLA 5 news reported that Dolin’s website includes photos of “Saturday Night Live” stars like Chris Parnell and Molly Shannon, former Laker and actor Rick Fox, “numerous multiple Oscar and Emmy Award winning actors” and “luminaries from the worlds of business and media,” he writes.
He has significant connections in the entertainment industry and has been known to solicit victims on modeling websites. The detective’s follow-up investigation revealed that two additional female victims in their mid-twenties also accused Dolin of sexual assault in 2017. All three incidents began with professional contacts that led to reports of Dolin touching women inappropriately during photo shoots when they were alone in his studio.
On March 4, 2024, SAS investigators arrested 64-year-old Kenneth Howard Dolin for 289(a) P.C., Penetration with a Foreign Object (booking #6769557). He has since been released from custody pending further investigation.
“These victims felt trapped and had to comply with his advances,” said Detective Brent Hopkins, a supervisor with the Special Assault Section. “There’s a huge difference between art photography and sexual assault. We want to make sure we know everything that happened and make sure that line does not get crossed again.”
Investigators believe other victims have yet to be identified. A photograph of the suspect is being released to identify and speak with those victims.
If you have been a victim or have information about this investigation, you are urged to contact Officer Richard Podkowski, Special Assault Section, at 213-473-0447.

An Amazon worker was attacked on the job — stabbed in the face by a suspect who walked up to the 23-year-old victim from behind — didn’t say a word — and sliced him from his lip to his earlobe, according to police reports.
Surveillance video captures the attack that left William Herrera, a young father from Yonkers, scarred for life.
Herrera says he was delivering Amazon packages to an apartment building on Valentine Avenue in the Bedford section of the Bronx when he was attacked two weeks ago.
Grainy footage shows the suspect dressed in black approach Herrera on the sidewalk and jab out with an object in his right hand. The two struggle. Herrera moves to run around the Amazon van and the suspect follows him out of view.
Herrera, who is bleeding profusely from his face, flags down an officer until an ambulance arrives.
Now he’s got a six-inch scar.
“I got to look every day in the mirror and see this on my face,” Herrera said. “I’ve never had one stitch in my entire life and the first time I got a stitch, I got 110 stitches?”
The 23-year-old says his attacker seemed bent on wounding him, rather than potentially lifting something from the unlocked Amazon van behind him.
“My van was completely open. He could have took the whole van if he wanted to,” Herrera said. “He didn’t take nothing. He just wanted to cut me, I guess.”
Herrera says he is now worried about his own safety when in the Bronx, and he is fearful that the stabber may come upon another unsuspecting New Yorker.
His wife, Lauren Soriano, who is pregnant with their second child, said, “I just hope that they catch him. So we can get justice.”
The couple also has a 2-year-old son.
Anyone with information on the stabbing is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
