A man was charged with misdemeanor child abuse after his car
rolled down an embankment with his 4-year-old inside.
The crash occurred at the Circle K gas station at the intersection of NC
211 and Highway 15-501 in Aberdeen.
Police told our WRAL Breaking News Tracker that the car
rolled out of the parking lot across NC 211, before going down a steep
embankment.
They said the father left his car in neutral when he went
into the store.
The 4-year-old was not seriously injured.

MEAD, Colo. — A 26-year-old pedestrian was killed after she was struck by a passing car on Interstate 25 near Mead, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The incident occurred around 5:34 a.m. Saturday, in the northbound lanes, and involved a Honda Accord.
Troopers said the driver of the Honda remained at the scene following the incident.
The 26-year-old woman was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the CSP.
Her name was withheld pending next of kin notification.
The crash and investigation closed northbound I-25 for several hours.

The northbound lanes of Wadsworth Boulevard reopened in Lakewood Friday morning after several hours of closure following a fatal crash.
A driver struck a pedestrian near the boulevard’s intersection with West Eastman Place, Lakewood police said in a social media message at 7:47 a.m. The intersection is just north of U.S. 285.
Police reopened the lanes just after 10 a.m.

An 18-year-old Seattle man was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide Wednesday after crashing head-on into an oncoming SUV while passing illegally on a curve, killing the other driver, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Dylan Blessing-Garcia was driving a GMC Sierra northbound on Colorado 135 about 14 miles north of Gunnison at 8:20 a.m. when he tried to pass another vehicle on a double yellow line and on a right-hand curve, state patrol officials said Thursday.
Blessing-Garcia crashed head on into a Ford Escape that heading southbound, driven by a 28-year-old woman from Crested Butte. She died at the scene.
Blessing-Garcia was treated for minor injuries and booked into the Gunnison County Jail on suspicion of vehicular homicide, the state patrol said.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in the crash, Sgt. Ivan Alvarado said.
Blessing-Garcia was released from jail on a $5,000 bail and is set to appear in court Nov. 18.

The driver of a box truck that crashed into a house in Raleigh was arrested early Friday morning after running from the scene.
Raleigh police told WRAL News that the box truck driven by 27-year-old Kenyon Tyree Pelzer crashed into the house on Raleigh Pines Drive around 12:40 a.m. Friday. He left the scene before authorities arrived.
No one inside the house was hurt.
Pelzer was charged with three misdemeanor counts of hit-and-run and leaving the scene with property damage, and with a commercial DWI. The warrant for his arrest stated that he damaged the exterior of the house and the backs of two cars.
The WRAL Breaking News Tracker captured video of the truck’s cab hitting the corner of a brick house.
The people inside the house told WRAL News they woke up to a loud crashing sound and realized a truck hit their home.
The next door neighbor said the truck also damaged three of their vehicles parked in the driveway. It left damage to their house as well. Pelzer’s arrest warrant doesn’t list any additional charge for damages to this other home or cars.
Raleigh police said the driver of the box truck was found before 2:30 a.m.
The box truck had a “LCM Logistics LLC” logo on the side with Durham, NC underneath. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s database lists the box truck as ‘inactive.’

An Aurora pedestrian was struck by a train Wednesday morning after trespassing on the tracks as the A-Line approached, according to the Regional Transportation District.
The unidentified victim was a “trespasser” because the Peoria Station crossing areas were closed to pedestrians for the incoming train at the time of the incident, RTD spokesperson Tara Broghammer said.
“When an individual enters railroad property anywhere other than a designated pedestrian or roadway crossing, or when either crossing is closed, it is illegal and considered trespassing,” Broghammer said in an email to The Denver Post.
Broghammer said the victim was hit just after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, and paramedics took the person to a hospital with unknown injuries at 7:50 a.m. At that time, the pedestrian was still alive.
No one on the A-Line commuter rail train was injured, and buses temporarily replaced the train between the Central Park and 40th & Airport Boulevard stations while police investigated, Broghammer said.
As of 8:45 a.m., the A-Line had resumed service, according to RTD.
RTD’s A-Line takes commuters between Union Station in Denver and Denver International Airport.

A motorcyclist died Tuesday night in Aurora after another driver ran a red light, crashing into the motorcycle and a third vehicle, police said.
The fatal crash happened at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when a GMC driver headed north on South Buckley Road failed to stop for a red light at East Mississippi Avenue, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department.
The GMC driver then crashed into a motorcycle and an Acura, the drivers of which were both turning left onto Mississippi, police said.
Police said the motorcyclist, an unidentified man, died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
No other injuries were reported. The GMC driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Aurora police.
Information about the cause of the crash was not available Wednesday, but police said speed and alcohol are not suspected to be factors.

Traffic was heavily backed up on U.S. Highway 1 (Claude E. Pope Memorial Highway) in New Hill, Wake County due to a crash Wednesday.
According to traffic alerts, the shoulder of US-1 North near Exit 92, near Apex and N.C. Highway 540, was closed due to a crash. As of 1:30 p.m., the scene is cleared and the right shoulder has reopened.
WRAL is working to learn more about how the crash happened and if there were any injuries.

Six people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after a truck crashed into King Soopers in west Colorado Springs, leaving a large hole in the side of the building.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the crash at 4:11 p.m. at 1700 W. Uintah St. after a truck into the parking lot, started speeding eastbound toward the building and crashed through the exterior wall.
Six people, including the driver, were taken to the hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, the agency said on social media.
The driver is cooperating with the investigation, and officers believe the crash was an accident, according to the fire department.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A large UPS cargo plane with three people aboard crashed Tuesday while taking off from an airport in Louisville, Kentucky, igniting an explosion and massive fire that left a thick plume of black smoke over the area.
The plane crashed about 5:15 p.m. as it was departing for Honolulu from Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
Injuries were reported, the Louisville Metro Police Department said in a social media post.
“My understanding is that there were about 280,000 gallons of fuel on the plane, and so that is extreme reason for concern in so many different ways,” Mayor Craig Greenberg told WLKY-TV.
UPS’s largest package handling facility is in Louisville. The hub employs thousands of workers, has 300 daily flights and sorts more than 400,000 packages an hour.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 airplane owned by UPS was manufactured in 1991.
A shelter-in-place order was extended to all areas north of the airport to the Ohio River.
Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said in a post on X that information would be shared as it was available.
“Please pray for the pilots, crew and everyone affected,” Beshear said.

Raleigh police are investigating a crash involving six vehicles, including a motorcycle.
Officers were called shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Monday to Atlantic Avenue near Six Forks Road. Police said one person was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
Police said Atlantic Avenue is closed in both directions while police investigate the crash. Drivers are encouraged to detour using a nearby parking lot.
Police have not released the names of anyone involved and said no charges have been filed at this time.
The investigation is still ongoing.

A training flight and a pilot engaged in an “aerobatic competition” crashed in August at northern Colorado’s Fort Morgan Municipal Airport, killing one pilot and injuring three others, according to federal investigators.
The two planes — a Cessna 172 and an Extra Flugzeugbau EA300, each carrying a pilot and a safety pilot — were trying to land on the same runway at the airport when they crashed and caught fire at about 10:40 a.m. on Aug. 31, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.
Federal investigators said the Cessna pilot was conducting flight instrument training at the airport with a safety pilot aboard, and he made multiple radio calls to alert the airport to his arrival.
He heard two other airplanes in the traffic pattern, and that one had already landed, as he continued to approach, according to the report.
The Extra 300 pilot was one of several competing at the airport that day, investigators said. He also made several radio calls stating his plan to land on runway 14, where the crash happened, after completing his flight sequence.
According to the report, the Extra 300 pilot heard another competitor would be landing before him, but didn’t hear any other planes in the traffic pattern. The Extra 300 pilot told investigators that the Cessna appeared below him on final approach, with no time to maneuver or avoid the collision.
The crashed planes came to a stop next to each other, off the edge of the runway, federal investigators said. A line of wreckage and debris extended roughly 500 feet from the planes, including separated wings and propellers.
Both people in the Cessna exited the plane with minor injuries, according to NTSB. The Extra 300 pilot sustained serious injuries but was able to get out of his aircraft. Federal officials said a post-crash fire prevented him from saving the safety pilot still trapped inside.
The safety pilot, 35-year-old Kristen Morris of Denver, died from her injuries, according to the International Aerobatic Club, which was hosting the competition that day.
Morris was a retired Air Force captain and an Air Force Wounded Warriors coach, leading injured active-duty Air Force members and veterans in sporting events, according to reporting from Denver7.
“She was doing something she loved, and I will forever remember her as one of the most kind and pure-hearted people I’ve ever met,” Morris’s friend, Allison Smith, told Denver7.
Investigators said both planes were destroyed in the crash, and the remains were taken to an NTSB facility for further examination.
The crash remains under investigation.

A New York man driving a semitrailer in southern Colorado died Monday after crashing over the edge of a mountain pass, according to the state patrol.
The man, 23, was driving south on a section of U.S. 160 near Pagosa Springs known as Wolf Creek Pass when he hit the barrier wall on the right side of the highway and bounced off, according to a news release from the Colorado State Patrol.
He then swerved through the guardrail on the highway’s left side, rolling the semitrailer down the mountain, investigators said in the release.
Both the trailer and the cab were destroyed in the crash, which happened at about 8:20 a.m. Monday, according to the agency.
The man was driving at an “excessive speed” with smoke coming from the brakes before the crash, state patrol officials said. He failed to take the runaway truck ramp about 1 1/2 miles before the crash site.
Investigators could not immediately find the driver amid the “large debris scene” that spread from the highway down the mountain because his body was ejected from the vehicle in the crash, state patrol officials said. The man, who has not been publicly identified, was later found dead.
The semitrailer split open during the initial crash on the highway, spilling its cargo of canned drinks across the pass before rolling down the mountain, according to investigators.
Colorado Department of Transportation crews used a plow to clear the roadway of the drinks and debris. The highway was fully open Monday afternoon.
State investigators were working Monday to recover the semitrailer and cab from the mountainside. No additional information about the crash, which remains under investigation, was available.

A motorcyclist died Sunday night in a crash on the edge of Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood, police said.
The Denver Police Department first posted about the fatal crash near Stoll Place and Orleans Street at 11:19 p.m. Sunday.
The motorcyclist, who has not been publicly identified, was the only driver involved in the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.
Additional information about the crash was not available Monday morning.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner will identify the motorcyclist killed in the crash at a later date.

Two people are dead and two were hospitalized with serious injuries after an overnight wrong-way crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade County caused another traffic accident early Sunday morning, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
According to FHP, the crash happened on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near Bird Road, where a blue Honda that was driving south in the northbound lanes collided head-on with a silver Toyota.
Both vehicles became disabled and were blocking the roadway, which led to a second crash when an oncoming white Toyota collided into the two disabled vehicles along with an FHP vehicle on scene, the agency said.
The Honda driver and the silver Toyota driver from the initial crash died at the scene, FHP said. Meanwhile, the two occupants in the other Toyota were airlifted to Kendall HCA with serious injuries. FHP said the trooper on scene was outside of their vehicle at the time of the crash and was not injured during the incident.
All northbound lanes were shut down and traffic was diverted onto Bird Road as the investigation continued.
At this time, FHP has not provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the crashes, as they are both currently under investigation.

A passenger in a sedan racing down East Alameda Parkway early Saturday morning died after the driver lost control and crashed, police said.
Aurora officers responded to the rollover crash just west of South Chambers Road on Alameda at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the department.
Police said the BMW sedan was street racing down Alameda from Sable Boulevard when the driver, 19-year-old Edwin Rosales-Sandoval of Denver, crashed on a curve.
The sedan left the roadway, struck a grocery store sign and rolled, police said. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
Paramedics took Rosales-Sandoval and a 17-year-old girl in the car to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Another passenger, an unidentified adult man, died at the scene of the crash, police said. He will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.
Investigators believe Rosales-Sandoval was drunk and driving on a revoked license at the time of the crash. The Denver man’s license was revoked after a previous DUI incident, Aurora police said.
Rosales-Sandoval was arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, DUI and driving on a revoked license, police said. As of Sunday morning, he was being held on a $75,000 bail.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a filing of charges hearing, court records show.
