Bay Area Author’s Latest Work, ’52’, Sparks Powerful Message in a Lonely, COVID-19 World

    [ad_1]

Inspired by the incredible true story of the 52-hertz whale, author Johnny DePalma’s latest rhyming picture book, ’52 – A Tale of Loneliness’, echoes emotions that may be felt at home.

    Press Release

    updated: Mar 23, 2021

Known throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for curating the pandemic’s Emergency Art Museum (emergencyartmuseum.com), award-winning author Johnny DePalma’s latest literary accomplishment dives deep into innate human feelings, emotions, and loneliness – something all too common in a COVID-19 world.

“I would say all my books are somewhat autobiographical,” said DePalma, regarding his latest book, ’52 – A Tale of Loneliness.’ “Loneliness is such a universal and complex emotion. For me, my days of loneliness were also my days of unlimited imagination. I would take the time to connect with all of the small, seemingly invisible things in my life. And, looking back, I think those moments we’re incredibly important. Years later, when I learned about the 52-hertz whale, (also known as the loneliest whale in the world) I knew I wanted to write a book that reconnects with that misunderstood emotion.”

This children’s tale, recommended for ages 4-8, has recently hit home for an audience of all ages. Taking place far beneath the beautiful sea, a unique whale sings a song that is all his own. Told in short, poetic passages, this whale, simply known as 52, celebrates the joy of life he’s found beneath the ocean waves. Yet, despite his isolation, 52 remains optimistic and introduces readers to the magic, beauty, and joy found within his own invisible world.

DePalma details the beauty of isolation with effortlessness throughout the book, writing, “And that’s all mine! I get to see, the things invisible, like me! So, every night, I say hello, to all the barnacles below. To every bubble, kelp, and shell. To every grain of sand as well. For all these things make up my home, and with them, I don’t feel alone.”

“It’s been greatly inspired by the California coast,” said DePalma. “After all, that is where the real-life 52-hertz whale has been known to travel. In 2018, my good friend and illustrator, Kyle Brown and I took a research trip from Point Conception, to Monterey, and eventually through San Francisco to find the creative spark needed for the illustrations in this book. I couldn’t be happier with the result. It’s my hope that children and families alike will uncover that same special spark of joy that 52 has found. Considering what we’ve all been going through, I think embracing some of these feelings, and putting a voice to them is going to be an important step for children moving forward.”

DePalma went on to say, “As children start heading back to school, social and emotional learning tools are going to be imperative. Characters like 52 are there to help guide children through those difficult feelings and to help them find their voice in a world that might suddenly feel a bit different. I want children to know that being unique can be a positive and powerful thing. Sometimes, it just takes the right perspective for them to see that.”

One recent reviewer stated, “DePalma effectively validates feelings that are relatable to children of various ages. Although 52 experiences loneliness, and sometimes feels invisible, he still sings, and his tale is not a sad one. This good-natured whale exemplifies themes of self-acceptance, individuality, contentment, empathy, bravery, and joy.” – Cecilia_L

Terra Jolé, of “Dancing with the Stars,” fame stated, “This book is a wonderful way for children to feel content with who they are. This speaks loudly to me as a mother isolating her family through the pandemic. Embracing a world you’re creating for yourself is a powerful message in a children’s book.”

To date, 52 – A Tale of Loneliness has won a Mom’s Choice Gold Award, and a Reader’s Favorite Five Stars. The book also includes a downloadable companion audiobook read by Emmy Award-winning actor, Patton Oswalt.

MindBeauty Provides Protection and Customization to Sports Teams with Its AM99 Mask

    [ad_1]

MindBeauty’s AM99 face mask can be ordered in bulk by athletic teams and customized to provide players with fashionable protection from COVID-19.

    Press Release

    updated: Mar 16, 2021

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected many aspects of our lives, and this is especially true for athletes who play on organized sports teams. From venues packed with fans and excitement to empty stadiums, gyms, and arenas, to the necessity of wearing a face mask for protection, this year has been full of change.

MindBeauty, the San Francisco-based company behind the innovative AM99TM line of protective and reusable face masks, has created a product that’s lab certified and, thanks to its proprietary nanotechnology, provides a physical barrier that neutralizes COVID-19 respiratory droplets on contact. All of this and more make it a great option for teams who are on the road traveling for games.

But, beyond the thorough protection, the AM99 mask provides, sports teams also have the opportunity to place bulk orders for customized face masks for their teams.

The color of the cloth and earloops as well as the placement of the team’s logo all work together to create a one-of-a-kind look.

“We know this year hasn’t been easy, so we wanted to give athletes everywhere the opportunity to customize their masks as a sign of unity with their teammates,” said Joei Lau, Founder of MindBeauty, “We’re excited to give athletes and fans alike the ability to show their team pride with our AM99 mask,” Lau noted.

The AM99 reusable, cotton-based mask, is made with an innovative seam design that creates space for breathing comfort, adjustable earloops for customization, and a nose bridge supporter.

All of these design components create a more comfortable fit while providing maximum protection to the wearer and those around them which is especially beneficial for players and coaching staff.

While the customization options are an added bonus, the true differentiation of the AM99 mask from any other mask on the market lies in its durability and innovation which includes:

    • JIS L1902 certified, which is the standard that specifies methods to determine the antibacterial effectiveness of woven and non-woven textile products.
    • Lab research has shown that after 70 hand washes, the AM99 mask remains effective in neutralizing 99.9 percent of MRSA-resistant pathogens used in testing.
    • Proprietary nanotechnology provides a physical barrier and neutralizes COVID-19 respiratory droplets on contact.
    • Research has shown 95 percent viral de-activation efficiency within two hours, decreasing the chances of viral transmission.

“The AM99 mask is able to maintain an effectively sterile environment to limit the contamination of other surfaces around the wearer and on the wearer’s mask making it the right choice for athletes, coaching staff, and fans,” Lau noted.

Place your bulk order of customized AM99 face masks, today.

  • LA Nannies Are Being Excluded From Vaccine Phase 1B

LA Nannies Are Being Excluded From Vaccine Phase 1B

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Mar 4, 2021

The team at Westside Nannies, a leading nanny agency in the Los Angeles area, is expressing grave and valid concerns over the fact that Los Angeles private nannies are being excluded from Vaccine Phase 1B, despite their clear roles as essential childcare workers.

On March 1, Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in California began, which included vaccinations for childcare workers across the state. However, the Los Angeles County Public Health Department quietly made a change expressly excluding private nannies and babysitters from the definition of childcare workers. Under this exclusion, nannies across the county are prohibited from getting the vaccine with all the other childcare workers.

“These are hardworking men and women who have been putting their lives on the line every day without a choice,” said Katie Provinziano, Managing Director at Westside Nannies. “Nannies provide care for children, including assisting with online schooling and ensuring parents can work to support their families. It’s an insulting shock that nannies were considered ‘essential’ during the lockdown, but they are now being overlooked when it comes to getting the vaccine.”

This exclusion also adversely affects caregivers, many of whom are people of color. Currently, Phase 1B includes individuals who are 65 and older, agriculture and food workers, education and childcare workers and those who work in emergency services. The agency hopes that the county reverses this decision and allows private nannies to get vaccinated since they are, in fact, childcare workers. Until then, the Westside Nannies team is reaching out to elected officials.

“It is time that domestic workers stop being disregarded,” said Provinziano. “Excluding nannies from the childcare worker phase is absolutely unacceptable and brings a tremendous amount of inequity.”

  • Mind Beauty Discusses the New Dating Culture and What Role Masks Will Play on Valentine’s Day

Mind Beauty Discusses the New Dating Culture and What Role Masks Will Play on Valentine’s Day

    [ad_1]

The pandemic has changed many things and dating is one of them. Mind Beauty, the creator of the AM99 Mask weighs in on how masks will play a role on Valentine’s Day and dating, in general, moving forward.

    Press Release

    updated: Feb 2, 2021

Since social distancing measures including stay-at-home orders and face masks came into effect in March of 2020, the dating world has changed. Mind Beauty, the San Francisco, California-based company behind the AM99TM line of protective and reusable face masks is weighing in on the new dating culture and how masks will continue to play a prominent role.

Before the pandemic, people were used to meeting others at different events and social settings and going on face-to-face dates.

Now, as a result of COVID-19, there’s been a shift in the dating landscape. However, despite these changes, Match Group with brands like Tinder, Match, Meetic, OKCupid, Hinge, Pairs, PlentyOfFish, and OurTime among other brands in its portfolio, reported a 15 percent increase in new subscribers over the second quarter of 2020.

As dating apps thrive and interest in finding a companion continues to grow, people everywhere are slowly but surely venturing out again. This time, while wearing a mask.

And, while face masks have changed fashion culture, they’ve also changed how people interact with strangers and potential love interests.

“Adaptability is a major theme that came to the surface during this pandemic,” said Joei Lau, Founder of Mind Beauty, “From adapting to a new way of life to wearing face coverings and social distancing to finding creative ways to date, we’ve all had to make changes in one way or another.”

In 2020, the idea of mask fashion grew in popularity as people found innovative and unique ways to adapt to their “new normal” of wearing a face mask and matching this new accessory with their outfits.

Mind Beauty’s reusable, lab-certified, cotton-based AM99 mask aligns perfectly with the trend as they come in a variety of colors including pink and red which are perfect options for a Valentine’s Day date.

Meaningful and emotional connections are an essential part of life and though dating during a pandemic looks a lot different than most are used to, there are still ways to safely connect with others such as a virtual first date, checking transmission rates in the area before meeting in person, or planning an outdoor activity.

No matter the idea, the breathable AM99 mask is a great option for Valentine’s Day as it provides the wearer with the ultimate mix of form and function.

“Our customizable masks can complement any outfit while providing ultimate comfort thanks to the nose bridge that can be adjusted to fit snug to the wearer’s face which is especially beneficial to avoid fogged lenses for people with glasses,” Lau noted.

The AM99 mask is different from other masks on the market for a number of reasons including:

    • Added protection reduces contact with the family of coronaviruses and other microorganisms including MRSA, E.coli, and Klebsiella pneumonia as well as many more global health concern contagions that can lead to meningitis, salmonella, urinary tract infections, and food poisoning
    • Greatly reduces chances of surface-to-surface transmission
    • Washable up to 70 times
    • Environmentally-friendly solution
    • No filters to change
    • Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-mutagenic
    • Independent lab-certified protection
    • Active components manufactured in Japan using patented technology

Find the perfect mask in terms of protection, comfort, sanitary experience, and fashion this Valentine’s Day and beyond with MindBeauty’s AM99 mask.

Cold and Hungry, Marginalized Families Need Help. Volunteer Ministers of Budapest Join Other Nonprofits to Provide Winter Jackets and Food

    [ad_1]

Ten months into the COVID-19 crisis, Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology Budapest continue to raise donations and deliver supplies to those in need.

    Press Release

    updated: Jan 23, 2021

Many Hungarian families, already challenged financially before COVID-19, depend on the country’s charities to make it through these trying times.

Because of the pandemic, food insecurity or hunger have become facts of life for many families in the country.

Raising donations of food and goods and working with other Hungarian charities, the Volunteer Ministers (VMs) from the Church of Scientology Budapest continue to serve those in need. And as winter deepens, with the country under lockdown to fight the third wave of the virus, those needs increase dramatically.

So the VMs continue their work to distribute durable food, fresh fruit and vegetables and hygiene products to at-risk families.

“We believe that we are all stronger when we come together,” says Timea Vojtilla, who heads up the Budapest VMs. She posted on Facebook thanking everyone who donated or helped with these activities.

Scientology Volunteer Ministers also learned that Tündérpakk Foundation—a charity they frequently work with—was collecting jackets for needy neighbors and the homeless.

“It’s cold out there,” posted Vojtilla. “Very cold. This could cost people their lives in the midst of a pandemic. This is why we decided to support the Tündérpakk Foundation’s coat giveaway. Some of the coats we collected, we simply hung up on Tündérpakk’s door for people to come by and take them. The rest, we delivered to the head of the foundation.”

Tündérpakk Foundation is a nonprofit founded and run by two mothers because, they say on their website, “it is part of our lives to help our fellow human beings.”

“Thank you for your selfless support of those in need in Budapest and throughout the country,” posted Vojtilla about Tündérpakk. “We love helping with you!”

The Scientology Volunteers Ministers of Hungary are headquartered at the Church of Scientology Budapest, whose new home was dedicated in 2016 by Mr. David Miscavige, ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion. The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard.

A Volunteer Minister’s mandate is to be “a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.”

Germantown Tech CEO to Donate 1 Million Masks in COVID Fight

    [ad_1]

Shireen Inc. CEO, Mr. Nusrat Jamal, has pledged to donate one million locally manufactured N95 face masks to state and federal bodies as well as healthcare providers in the Metro D.C. area

    Press Release

    updated: Dec 8, 2020

Amina and Nusrat Jamal, MD residents, have been following the COVID-19 pandemic since it became a national concern in March of 2020. They were deeply alarmed about the shortages of masks and other PPE, especially the predicament the healthcare workers were finding themselves in, such as reusing PPE that is intended to be single-use. In order to alleviate the pressure on healthcare infrastructure, they decided to donate one million medical-grade (N95) face masks to help state agencies and healthcare providers in the DC Metro area during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Jamals tried to purchase the masks but the manufacture and supply of masks were stretched thin worldwide. As a result, they decided to set about manufacturing the masks themselves and switched tracks to the purchase of N95 mask-making equipment and raw material.

Mr. Jamal, a migrant from Pakistan, is the CEO of Shireen Inc, a Germantown, MD-based manufacturer of wireless equipment. He believes in giving back to the community and the country which has given him so much. Silverline Health, a company established by him to aid in his healthcare endeavor, will be producing the masks in the USA. “I created Silverline Heath in response to the crucial need for these masks in the community and country. The goal is to manufacture and distribute these masks so they can reach our community as safely and quickly as possible, as the spread of COVID continues to grow.” The company is also beginning the arduous process of obtaining OSHA certification for these masks, ensuring that the PPE meets or exceeds standards that are being relaxed due to the emergency nature of the pandemic.

“We have begun coordination with Maryland Governor’s Office of Community initiatives, the Maryland State Police, the Maryland Department of Health, the Maryland Responds disaster response body, National Nurses Unions, as well as a coordinated effort through FEMA to provide masks as they identify entities in need of supplies. These are all lined up to start taking the production as we plan on starting the distribution on Dec. 8, stated Mr. Jamal.

Corrections Departments Manage Pandemic in Prisons With Free COVID Tool From Vant4ge, a Leader in Criminal Justice Technology

    [ad_1]

The platform uses evidence-based, predictive risk assessments to reliably determine which inmates can be released early

    Press Release

    updated: Dec 3, 2020

The coronavirus pandemic continues to have a disproportionately adverse effect on the United States’ prison population. According to The Marshall Project, there have been nearly 200,000 cases among inmates and more than 1,400 deaths, resulting in corrections agencies being overwhelmed. A 20-year leader in criminal justice technology, Vant4ge is contributing to the mitigation effort by offering a free COVID-19 tool to help corrections departments manage the crisis and determine which inmates are the safest to release early. The comprehensive Vant4gePoint software platform that allows agencies to efficiently coordinate care and rehabilitation for inmates and parolees also consists of the most predictive assessments ever developed. In response to the pandemic, Vant4ge is making the risk assessment tool that features evidence-based, data-driven assessment instruments with automated scoring and reporting available to corrections administrators and case managers.

“As a tech company dedicated to criminal justice reform and improving outcomes for both offenders and communities, we wanted to help by providing the tools prison administrators can use to effectively navigate the pandemic,” says Sean Hosman, CEO and Founder of Vant4ge. “Our validated, predictive risk assessments can guide them in decision making for determining which offenders pose the lowest risk of harming their communities and are the least likely to re-offend. Early release for incarcerated individuals can minimize the strain on the prison healthcare system and increase the safety of staff and inmates in environments where social distancing is very difficult.”

Developed by prominent criminal justice experts, Vant4ge’s Static Risk Assessment (SRA) helps corrections administrators predict recidivism by type of crime, empowering them to make better decisions when it comes to early release. The SRA features 26-questions pertaining to “static” factors with resulting scores that determine future risks in three areas: felony, non-violent felony, and violent felony. These risk scores allow for the classification of an offender into one of five risk levels.

Vant4ge is further reforming case management by connecting offenders to resources such as drug rehabilitation, job training, and mental healthcare through the platform. [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Oct 21, 2020

Healthfully™, an enterprise healthcare solutions company, announced that St. Louis Community College has selected its Healthfully @ Work solution designed to help educational institutions create safe environments for return to campus. Supporting the college’s health services organization, Healthfully’s management tools and app will provide comprehensive COVID-19 exposure prevention, screening, testing, contact tracing and case management with robust security and HIPAA compliance.

St. Louis Community College is the largest higher educational institution in the region. STLCC has served over 1.2 million students; at least one person in more than one-half of St. Louis area households has attended the College. Enrollment is over 17,000 students across four campuses, two education and two workforce training centers.

The Healthfully @ Work platform offers two essential components:

    ·        Administrator Dashboard. Data received from Healthfully app users, healthcare providers, and labs permit monitoring of:

o   Student/staff compliance with screening, physician visits, testing, and isolation

o   Individual and population based COVID-19 health status

o   Contact tracing and exposure assessment to work locations and individuals

o   Case management  including workflow and policy management, assigned tasks, and case notes.

    ·        Healthfully @ Work App. Students, faculty, and staff use a  web/mobile app to engage COVID-19 resources:

    o   Self-screening and attestation

o   A Hall Pass feature displaying on each individual’s phone a time-stamped, red-yellow-green status based on screening

o   Reminders, alerts and workflow automation

o   Workflow/integration of Provider/Secondary screening, orders, and upload doctor’s notes

o   Workflow/integration: view nearby test sites, get-inline for testing, and upload results

o   Moderated COVID-19 education and support communities

“The Healthfully platform offers administrators an alternative to creating their own tools or relying on multiple apps,” said Paul Viskovich, CEO, Healthfully. “We are pleased to support St. Louis Community College’s return-to-school program with a comprehensive, affordable approach.”

“We had examined several alternatives for COVID-19 management, including developing our own solution,” said Keith R. Hacke, CIO, of St. Louis Community College. “Healthfully had the right functionality for us with ability to have it rapidly implemented.”

Saluting the Many Heroes Who Have Served in the Aftermath of 9/11

    [ad_1]

The world owes a debt of gratitude to emergency workers who risked their lives at the World Trade Center in 2001 and the many thousands more who continue to do so at disaster sites every day.

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 12, 2020

On the 19th anniversary of the collapse of the Twin Towers, in the year of COVID-19, with forest fires burning throughout California, and a record hurricane season in full play, Scientology Volunteer Ministers salute first responders and health care personnel who put their lives on the line to protect the lives of others.

9/11 served as a wakeup call to Volunteer Ministers everywhere. Within hours, they were on-site, providing support to emergency personnel and bringing order to the chaos.

“As any New Yorker would tell you, to see the Twin Towers erupt and then disintegrate was a living nightmare,” said one of the first Volunteer Ministers to arrive at the scene. “Over 25,000 people were gotten out of the towers because of the work of first responders, civilian fire wardens, strangers assisting others, police, firefighters, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice that day in service to others.”

Volunteer Ministers arrived from across the U.S. and abroad to help at Ground Zero. They cared for the physical needs of emergency workers with food, water and clothing. They helped exhausted police and firefighters cope with fatigue and shock using Scientology assists, techniques developed by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard that address the emotional and spiritual factors in stress and trauma.

“Not only did 9/11 inspire Scientologists to become active Volunteer Ministers, it was also a turning point for volunteerism overall,” says Joava Good, Deputy Director of the Churches of Scientology Disaster Response. “Since then, the amount of collaboration among churches, nonprofits and government agencies has increased beyond anything we’ve ever seen before. If the intention of this outrage was to overwhelm us, to drive us into apathy, I believe it had the opposite effect—it brought people of goodwill everywhere together as a united team.”

This year, a novel coronavirus created an entirely different kind of disaster than any Volunteer Ministers had to confront before. The most effective measures were researched for ensuring the safety of Scientology staff and parishioners, and implemented internationally as protocols under the direction of Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige.

The Church of Scientology created the How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center on the Scientology website and published three booklets containing the basic principles of prevention.

Volunteer Ministers from Scientology Churches and Missions across the globe distributed 5 million copies of these booklets to help their communities get through these trying times safe and well.

  • Wake County Families to Safely Reopen Schools Calls for Immediate Action by the Wake County Board of Education

Wake County Families to Safely Reopen Schools Calls for Immediate Action by the Wake County Board of Education

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 10, 2020

Among the school reopening choices outlined by Governor Roy Cooper and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Plan B allows North Carolina students to return to classrooms in a blend of in-person and virtual instruction. Accordingly, Wake County Families to Safely Reopen Schools respectfully requests that the Wake County Board of Education (the “School Board”) finalize a clear plan to reopen schools under Plan B no later than Oct. 1 and that schools reopen no later than Oct. 22.

Wake County Families to Safely Reopen Schools believes in the Wake County Public School System, our school administrators, and our teachers. We believe that our community is strong and that we can create a public-private partnership to return students and teachers to schools safely, consistent with The Strong Schools NC Public Health Toolkit (K-12). Most important, we believe that there is no replacement for in-person student-teacher interaction within the school building. We believe that our students deserve and are legally entitled to this education.

The School Board’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been inconsistent and muddled. The School Board has changed the date for reopening at least three times and currently takes the position that schools will be reopened in Plan B as soon as it is “practical,” without providing clear guidance what that means. We have written to our School Board members seeking clarity and have received no concrete response.

On July 10, Superintendent Cathy Moore stated that decisions will be made in accordance with “state health guidelines and legal requirements that are handed to school systems.” The state has given the School Board a toolkit for reopening. The governor has allowed schools to reopen in Plan B. Parents and the community are offering to help. The School Board continues to stall.

To date, the School Board has no plan to safely reopen the schools for in-person instruction. In fact, in a September 9 response to a member of the group regarding a reopening date, school board member Christine Kushner stated, “I just don’t have any answers for you that reflect a consensus way forward.” However, that same day Vice-Chairwoman Roxie Cash stated that she supports a return to the classroom saying “I do not believe that we can wait any longer to put … children back in the classroom.”

The School Board must take positive action to determine what it will take to open the schools. The time is now. A return to in-person instruction will require monumental efforts from administrators and teachers. The plan must come from the top. Our children’s education is too important to politicize.

Wake County Families to Safely Reopen Schools is made up largely of tax-paying families in Wake County. Since its creation on Aug. 26, the group has accumulated more than 1,500 members and is steadily growing. You can find the group on Facebook.

Pinpoint Deploys COVID-19 Remote Wellness Screening Software, Protecting Students and Staff as Schools Begin Reopening

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    updated: Sep 1, 2020

Pinpoint builds upon its virtual wellness screening and monitoring platform, which both aligns with CDC guidelines and is HIPAA-compliant, to help schools safely reopen nationwide during the COVID-19 pandemic. With some states requiring schoolwide-screening programs in order to reopen, administrators are seeking technological solutions to keep students and faculty healthy.

“We must all remain cautious as schools begin to reopen, as safety and wellness are the top priority for staff and students,” said Chris Nickerson, Managing Director. “Our data-centered approach is designed to screen, monitor, and track the health of organizations, and mitigate the risk of the spread of COVID-19.”

Pinpoint works with all schools including K-12 and higher education. Their web-based application uses SMS (email and text) to screen staff or students who may be experiencing symptoms, had contact with a diagnosed COVID-19 individual, travel restrictions, etc. Designed with adaptive algorithms and dynamically generated resources, administrators will be able to view aggregate wellness data of their campus population in real-time.

The inexpensive, simple-to-use platform is implemented quickly with nothing to download. Along with tracking wellness, administrators are finding new ways to use the software. Schools are using as a tool to change attendance tracking, curbside drop-off and pickup, emergency drills, and access control.

Pinpoint is currently focusing on helping schools across the country in states like New York with early reopening plans. Assisting them with vital personalized screening solutions to help staff and households to screen themselves remotely.

“Pinpoint’s screening tool will make it possible for our District to screen all staff and students as we return to in-person learning this fall. The company has been very easy to work with, quick to respond, and helped us seamlessly implement this key piece of our reopening plan. We’re thankful for their partnership during these stressful times.” — Kristine Orr, Superintendent of Schools, South Glens Falls Central School District, New York

Pinpoint has its roots in schools and education as it was initially developed inside a school as a software for active shooter and compliance technology in 2016.

Utilizing innovative technology for the safety and security of our communities, schools, and businesses has been the organization’s mission from the beginning.

In 2020, Pinpoint launched its wellness check pathway, which is being used by employers to perform remote wellness screening and return-to-work procedures in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The organization leverages technology solutions to increase efficiency and reach for symptom monitoring for COVID-19+ residents, screening of those at risk for COVID-19, identification mood disturbances associated and identification of domestic violence/intimate partner violence during times of increased health and economic stress.

A spike in coronavirus cases has dashed the hopes of the Aloha State’s hospitality industry that had looked forward to a September 1st end to the mandatory 14-day self-quarantine order for visitors to the island. Scientology Volunteer Ministers offer a simple solution: understanding and applying the basic principles of prevention.

A month ago, with COVID-19 holding steady in a low range, it looked like Hawaii would be open for business before Labor Day. But a surge in cases makes that out of the question, according to Gov. David Ige and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell who announced new restrictions August 18.

Volunteer Ministers from the Church of Scientology of Hawaii believe understanding the principles of prevention is vital for overcoming this setback.

They took part in a campaign to distribute educational booklets to Honolulu businesses and households on the basis that “an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure.”

The Church of Scientology has published three booklets containing the basic principles of prevention: How to Keep Yourself & Others WellHow to Protect Yourself & Others with a Mask & Gloves and How to Prevent the Spread of Illness with Isolation. These can be read online or downloaded free of charge at the How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center on the Scientology website in 21 languages (including Japanese and Chinese). There are also more than a dozen videos illustrating the information from the booklets.

“You never know who you are going to meet when you knock on a door,” said one of the Volunteer Ministers. “A Korean YouTuber lived at one house. She took a video of us giving her the booklet. She recently moved to Hawaii and said many Koreans are afraid to travel here because of the quarantine, so she wanted to help people back home feel less worried about coming to Hawaii.”

“One man wanted to share the information with his mother and granddaughter who were coming over. He took a copy for each of them. There was the mother of a young baby who had decorated her door with handmade flowers. She was incredibly thankful and sweet,” said the Volunteer Minister. “It was such a fulfilling and worthwhile experience to do this.”

Distribution of the educational booklets began in May in communities around Scientology Churches across the globe. The Church of Scientology International Dissemination and Distribution Center printed and shipped 5 million copies of Stay Well booklets.

The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. It constitutes one of the largest independent relief forces. A Volunteer Minister’s mandate is to be “a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.”

With Kansas in the Red Zone, Scientology Volunteer Ministers Urge Prevention

    [ad_1]

The White House Coronavirus Task Force has just designated Kansas as a COVID-19 “Red Zone.” Two weeks ago, it placed central Illinois counties on alert. Volunteer Ministers of the Church of Scientology Kansas City are working to bring the pandemic under control by educating the community on prevention.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 20, 2020

Volunteer Ministers from the Church of Scientology of Kansas City are tackling COVID-19 with education.

“We are all in this together,” says the lead KC Volunteer Minister. “By applying proven principles of prevention, we can get through the pandemic and move on.”

In May, the volunteers distributed thousands of educational booklets to local businesses, churches, and nonprofits so they could in turn provide them to those they serve. And they’ve visited hundreds of households to make sure people have what they need and know how to keep themselves and their families and friends well.

The Church of Scientology has published three booklets containing the basic principles of prevention: How to Keep Yourself & Others Well, How to Protect Yourself & Others with a Mask & Gloves and How to Prevent the Spread of Illness with Isolation. These can be read online or downloaded free of charge in 21 languages at the How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center on the Scientology website.

“I really loved handing out these booklets,” said one of the volunteers. “Everyone was so appreciative.”

“People need this information,” said the public outreach representative of the KC Fire Department about the booklets he received on behalf of the firefighters.

A minister who is active in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was about to join a Zoom conference when the volunteers came by to bring him copies of booklets. He told them he was concerned about his parishioners—language can be such a barrier to understanding. He was thrilled that the volunteers brought him copies in English and Spanish and found them so informative he wanted to present them to the dozens of Hispanic leaders he would be joining in the conference.

“We met with one pastor who had many questions about personal health,” said the lead volunteer. “He was impressed to see that all of his questions were answered in the booklets. He found the information on isolation very helpful because it shows people how they can stop the spread of the virus.”

“You can tell it means a lot to people that we are going out to their homes just to help them,” said a Volunteer Minister. A car pulled up and two teenage boys asked the volunteers why they were going door-to-door. When they showed them the booklets the boys lit right up. One of them asked for five copies for his friends. He was really happy someone was looking out for his neighborhood.

    Press Release

    updated: Aug 14, 2020

As soon as South Africa’s President Ramaphosa announced the National State of Disaster on March 15, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Disaster Response team moved into action. They immediately began decontaminating COVID-19 hotspots and they have not slowed down since.

Beginning with essential services such as police and fire departments, they extended their help by forming partnerships, beginning with the Department of Social Development with whom they decontaminated over 900 buildings, including shelters and orphanages.

They extended their reach to clinics, hospitals, the Departments of Roads and Transport, Environmental Health, Arts and Culture and ultimately every municipality in Gauteng.

Mid-April, they took on daily disinfecting of entire fleets of taxis.

With more than 200 partnerships from Gauteng to KwaZulu-Natal, Western Cape and Eastern Cape, the Volunteers have provided decontamination to 19,000 buildings, 558,000 vehicles, and railway and bus stations. They have contributed some 350,000 volunteer hours to fighting the pandemic.

While they continue these services, a priority of the Volunteer Ministers is the empowerment of others. In that regard, they have handed out 1 million copies of educational booklets on preventing the spread of the virus in English, Zulu, Xhosa and Sotho.

They are also offering training to anyone wishing to join their ranks. Their 19 Tools for Life courses are all available free of charge through the Scientology and Volunteer Ministers websites.

Caroline, a volunteer who recently completed these courses, said, “The Scientology Tools for Life Courses made me a better person than before. Most of all, I can understand other people’s behavior and am more able to assist them through life’s challenges.”

The principal of a school said, “It is amazing to see how many leaders were produced through participation in this training and these leaders are changing the lives of others for the better.”

The officer of a South African Police Service (SAPS) station described the training as an “eye-opening experience for me personally.”

The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard. It constitutes one of the largest and most visible international independent relief forces.

A Volunteer Minister’s mandate is to be “a person who helps his fellow man on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.” Their creed: “A Volunteer Minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help others achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well.”

    updated: Aug 12, 2020

With new cases of COVID-19 nearly doubling in France in recent weeks and so much hinging on bringing the pandemic back under control, French Scientologists urge their communities to learn and adopt the basic principles of prevention.

When the pandemic began, the most effective measures were researched for ensuring the safety of Church staff and parishioners, and these were implemented internationally as protocols under the direction of Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige.

To make this prevention information broadly available, the Church of Scientology published three educational booklets: How to Keep Yourself & Others WellHow to Protect Yourself & Others with a Mask & Gloves and How to Prevent the Spread of Illness with Isolation.

With the motto “an ounce of prevention is worth a ton of cure,” as soon as restrictions eased in France, Volunteer Ministers, dressed in protective gear, provided thousands of complimentary copies of the booklets to local businesses and residents.

These booklets have been made available in 21 languages to read or download free of charge from the How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center on the Scientology website, along with more than a dozens videos and infographics that push home the message.

“The lockdown was hard on everyone,” says Michel, a Volunteer Minister from Paris who helped with the distribution. “People were happy to finally have restrictions lifted so they could get their businesses going again.”

“Shop owners and managers appreciate having simple booklets that explain what people can do to keep themselves and their friends and families well,” says a Volunteer Minister named Luca. “We dropped off a box of booklets at a clothing shop and the next day the owner asked for another box and told us how fast the booklets were going. The owner of a pizzeria asked for a display of 100 booklets and another 100 to hold in reserve to have plenty on hand for his customers.” People would stop the volunteers on the street and ask for copies.

“The answer to this new outbreak is simple,” says Michel. “We can bring it back under control. The answers are all in these booklets. We urge people to visit the How to Stay Well Prevention Resource Center.”

Scientology Volunteer Ministers have distributed some 5 million copies of Stay Well booklets across the globe. The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers program is a religious social service created in the mid-1970s by Scientology Founder L. Beginning Monday, Aug. 3, Trinity Church Wall Street will offer a Compassion Meals program, providing grab-and-go food bags at five sites in the Bronx and Queens to help address the crisis in food insecurity caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

With sharp rises in the unemployment rate, the cost of groceries, and the number of people seeking assistance from food pantries and soup kitchens, food insecurity is at an all-time high in New York City. Compassion Meals seeks to help families as they cope with COVID-19 and the pressures it has caused and serve those in some of the areas hardest hit by the pandemic.

Each day, 1,000 meals will be distributed, consisting of single-serving non-perishable items. Bags will be provided while supplies last. Distribution will rotate among five locations each weekday. The locations are in communities that have high rates of COVID-19, have seen more than 50% of their emergency food pantries close since the pandemic began, and are experiencing severe food need.

The food will be provided by Great Performances, a Bronx-based catering company that has focused its efforts during the COVID-19 crisis on helping to feed New Yorkers.

Dates, times, and locations for the program follow:

    About Trinity Church Wall Street

Now in its fourth century, Trinity Church Wall Street is a growing and inclusive Episcopal parish of more than 1,200 members that seeks to serve and heal the world by building neighborhoods that live Gospel truths, generations of faithful leaders, and sustainable communities. Members come from the five boroughs of New York City and surrounding areas to form a racially, ethnically, and economically diverse congregation. More than 20 worship services are offered every week at its historic sanctuaries, Trinity Church and St. Paul’s Chapel, the cornerstones of the parish’s community life, worship, and mission, and online at trinitywallstreet.org. The parish welcomes approximately 2 million visitors per year.
