  • Ex-country club controller accused of theft is still in Mexico. $4 million judgment awaits

    [ad_1]

The former controller for an Anderson Township country club who is accused of stealing nearly $900,000 in 2023 before fleeing to Mexico, is still wanted in the U.S. and has been ordered along with his wife to pay more than $4 million.

He has been living in Mexico as a temporary resident and helped open a restaurant there, according to the country club’s attorney.

Mexican temporary resident identification card for Kinley Lee.

Kinley Lee, 28, and a woman described in court documents as his wife, 33-year-old Katherine Sulky, are believed to be living on Lake Chapala, about 300 miles west of Mexico City, in a community with other expatriates.

Coldstream Country Club sued Lee and Sulky in December 2023, soon after the alleged theft was discovered. The couple had already fled to Mexico at that point, documents say.

Lee worked for the country club as its controller for less than a year, but during that time, according to court documents, he and Sulky transferred Coldstream’s money to accounts they controlled. A former Coldstream official, in an affidavit, said Lee also “manipulated wage and reimbursement payments to himself,” significantly increasing his salary.

Lee is alleged to have gambled away a lot of the money.

Last year, the Hamilton County judge who is overseeing the civil suit found that Lee and Sulky together stole $871,688 from Coldstream.

Under Ohio law, the country club is owed triple damages for the theft in addition to punitive and other damages, making the total for both Lee and Sulky nearly $4 million. That amount also accrues interest until it’s paid. Lee also has been ordered to pay a separate $79,000 judgement.

    Who is Kinley Lee?

Lee, a native of Clyde, Texas, attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello and was a star golfer there, according to the university’s website. He was scheduled to graduate in 2019.

He began his job as controller for Coldstream in February 2023. His annual salary was $95,000.

Because of his job, he had complete access to the country club’s financial information, bank accounts as well as a country club Visa card.

The former Coldstream official also said in the affidavit that Lee gave Sulky access to the club’s financial information and that Sulky spent “a lot of time” in his office.

The affidavit says the couple bought a 2022 Kia SUV for nearly $50,000 using a cashier’s check. Nearly all of the money in the account had been stolen from Coldstream, according to the affidavit.

Lee and Sulky took the SUV as well as a 2012 Mercedes-Benz to Mexico, according to the affidavit.

Court documents say Lee and Sulky carefully planned how they would flee to Mexico with the money they stole from Coldstream, closing all their bank accounts and other financial accounts, as well as selling and transferring assets. He told the country club that he and his wife were vacationing in Mexico.

Their departure was timed to avoid an audit that would have uncovered the theft, the documents say.

The Enquirer reached out to Lee and Sulky through email addresses they previously used. Neither responded.

    ‘He’s never safe’

Christopher McDowell, an attorney for Coldstream, said justice will be served – eventually.

The victim in the case, Coldstream Country Club, is a corporate entity that will exist long into the future.

And the $4 million judgment, with accruing interest, can’t be discharged through bankruptcy, McDowell said.

The arrest warrant for Lee means that if he shows up at port of entry in the U.S., he will be arrested. If Lee is convicted, McDowell said he will ask for a lengthy prison sentence.

“It’s just a matter of time,” McDowell said. “He’s never safe.”

    By Tionah Lee‍ , ETOnline.com.

Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes made their adorable red carpet debut! On Sunday, the “Window With a View” singer and the “Outer Banks” star arrived together at the 2023 CMT Awards — marking their first major public appearance as a couple.

Ballerini, who is co-hosting the ceremony alongside Kane Brown — wore a body-hugging corseted dress with pointed heels. It’s possible that this isn’t the only outfit the 29-year-old musician will wear this evening.

Ballerini and Stokes have been linked since January, and she later confirmed their romance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. A source told ET last month that “Kelsea is focusing on the good things in her life and her relationship with Chase” after her highly publicized split from Morgan Evans.

“They’re having a great time together,” the source said of Ballerini and Stokes. “Chase has been super supportive of her, and they are there for each other both professionally and in their personal lives.”

Ballerini’s boo will be supporting her from the crowd as she and Brown MC the evening. The “Peter Pan” songstress is also nominated for two awards, Female Video of the Year and Video of the Year (“Heartfirst”).

The “Rolling Up the Welcome Mat” songstress is also set to hit the stage to perform her latest single, “If You Go Down (I’m Goin’ Down Too)”

During a conversation with ET, earlier this week, Ballerini revealed that her SNL buddy, Travis Kelce, is introducing her.

“He is coming in from SNL itself and coming to introduce my performance, which I’m very excited about,” she said about the Super Bowl champion. “Anything else is a surprise.”

Ballerini also talked about bringing the girl power with her performance.

“It’s a song all about friendship and camaraderie,” she explained to ET, “and the people in your life that you just will stand up for and kind of your ride or dies.”

The 2023 CMT Music Awards airs live on CBS and is streaming on Paramount+. For more coverage of the big event, including all of the night’s winners, keep checking back with ETonline.

Katy Perry Makes CMA Awards Debut, Performs Duet With Thomas Rhett

    [ad_1]

    By Mona Khalifeh‍, ETOnline.com.

Katy Perry and Thomas Rhett brought down the house at the 56th Annual CMA Awards. Making her CMA Awards debut, Perry teamed up with Thomas Rhett to perform their pop-country collaboration, “Where We Started”, at Wednesday night’s star-studded show.

Perry was dressed in a long denim dress and a signature black cowboy hat for the performance, while Thomas Rhett opted for a sleek leather jacket.

The moving melody of “Where We Started” had the crowd on their feet and in their feelings as they grooved along to the sweet song.

The pair’s performance comes just weeks after they released the music video for the hit song. The ethereal visual sees the pair singing to each other after an intense walk through sheets forces them to meet.

In April, Thomas Rhett dished to ET about the collaboration and how it came to be.

“I had no part in that. My record label called her and said, ‘Would you want to do a collab with Thomas Rhett?’ and I thought they were crazy,” the 32-year-old singer told ET backstage during the CMT Music Awards. “I was like, ‘She has no idea who I am.’ They sent it to her, and she loved the song.”

The “Slow Down Summer” singer also talked meeting Perry and shared how she took the tune to the next level.

“She loved the song and the next week she put her buckle on it and got it back and I was like, ‘This is what it was supposed to be,” he said about Perry’s verse. “And since then we shot a music video, finally got to meet her in person. She’s as sweet as could be and I just think she took this song from good to great.”

  • The Club at Quail Ridge Celebrates Membership Approval for New Amenities

The Club at Quail Ridge Celebrates Membership Approval for New Amenities

    [ad_1]

    Press Release

    Jun 21, 2022

The Club at Quail Ridge, South Florida’s premier private country club, is honored to announce its membership has overwhelmingly approved a master plan project to introduce a variety of updates and renovations at the Club. This $21.45 million project will include a fully renovated north course and practice facilities, a new South Turn House, a brand new tennis pavilion, a redesigned south entrance, and a guard house.

These improvements are part of a multi-phased, long-range master plan designed to ensure Quail Ridge will continue to offer current and future members with the finest and most modern club experiences within the marketplace.

“These improvements are very exciting for all of us at Quail Ridge. The current tennis pavilion and South Gate buildings are nearly 50 years old and have served us very well, but it is time to allow our professionals from Peacock & Lewis to help us reimagine these high-use areas of the Club,” said William E. Langley, General Manager, and COO.

It is expected that the initial project phases will commence in the First Quarter of 2023. The Tennis Pavilion will likely be the first in the series of projects to get moving once permitting is completed.

“We could not be more thrilled to see the tennis pavilion updates get underway. This project has been a concept for quite some time. To see the broader membership embrace this redesign is a true testament to the quality and strength of the tennis program at Quail Ridge,” said Lee McCarroll, Tennis Committee Chair.

“Our famed North Course (originally designed by Joe Lee) has a storied past. The course has seen its share of competitive play from some of the finest amateur players in the country and there have been other smaller renovations through the years. Our membership has decided it is time to move into the future with a new design and the team at Fry/Straka Global Golf Design is working closely with our board, committees, and management team to update this extraordinary course,” said Gordon Broom, President of the Board of Directors.

The North Course will be a full-scale course renovation which will include the practice facilities. The spirit of this project is to keep up with the evolving game of golf, yet maintain a course design that provides enhanced playability. This will include re-routing of the golf course holes, tee boxes that will feature different footprints, side slopes strategically engineered into the course along with expanded water features, among other enhancements planned for the course.

“This is a very exciting time for the members of The Club at Quail Ridge. I am thrilled that we have such a talented board, committees, management team, and design partners to lead the renovation and restoration of these significant areas of the Club,” said Gordon Broom.

This announcement comes after a $10 million capital project that included a full redesign of the South Course along with a remodeled and expanded spa & fitness center in 2019. This followed the launch of an all-new $23 million clubhouse that included five dining rooms, two outdoor dining areas, a lobby, a library, new men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, and a larger golf shop. The 60,000-square-foot Old Florida-style clubhouse features beautiful views of the golf courses, waterfall, tower clock, and short-game practice area.

“During the last five years, Quail Ridge has really gone through a renaissance of sorts. Much of this success is due to our wonderful members, committees, and boards who began working with management years ago to reimagine the ‘Quail Ridge of tomorrow,’” said William E. Langley, General Manager, and COO. “This is a fantastic time in our history for our members, as well as our staff, to witness these projects come together in preparation for our 50th anniversary in 2024.”
