    As we prepare to close National Men’s Health Month, Cory Hardrict is keeping it real about his emotional health following his divorce. Hardrict was married to actress Tia Mowry for 14 years before she filed to end their marriage in October 2022.

    In the paperwork, the ‘Sister Sister’ star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. The court finalized their paperwork over a year ago, in April 2023. The former couple has two children: a son, Cree, and a daughter, Cairo.

    Cory Hardrict Shares His Emotional Struggles Following Divorce

    Cory got candid about his emotions after his divorce at the American Black Film Festival earlier this month. According to Essence, Hardrict spoke on a panel when the topic arose. A clip shared by Hollywood Melanin on Instagram shows the actor dressed in a burnt orange suit on stage.

    “It’s tough when it feels like you’re going through something alone and no one understands, and no one’s there for you,” Cory Hardrict said. “It was a year and a half crying myself to sleep every night.”

    Additionally, Cory shared that his loved ones can testify that his “kids and family were everything” to him. Therefore, after more than a decade of marriage and nearly two as a couple, Hardrict implied the post-split period was painful for him. However, it seemingly showed him that he’s “stronger than [he] thought [he] was.” 

    “By the grace of God, I’m here, and I’m still going,” the actor added.

    Here’s What Tia Mowry Previously Shared About Their Split

    Note that Cory Hardrict previously revealed that cheating was not a factor. And in June 2023, Tia Mowry gave additional context about the reason she filed for a divorce.

    She told Hello Beautiful that she’d been considering the split for about five years. Despite loving the role of a wife, Mowry shared that tradition didn’t allow for the “constant” nature of change.

    “I love being a wife. But I am understanding that tradition could be a blessing and a curse. What I mean by that is tradition warrants for no change, whereas change is constant,” Mowry shared.

    After some family deaths, she attended therapy and started questioning her peace and happiness. Ultimately, she decided that choosing herself was best for her, Cree and Cairo.

    “A part of my decision was also for them. For them seeing their mother walk in truth. I feel like it’s a great lesson for them because it was not an easy decision. It was one of the hardest decisions that I had ever had to make in my entire life.”

    Most recently, former ‘Bachelorette’ star Rechel Lindsey opened up about the advice Tia shared with her amid her own divorce.

    This year’s American Black Film Festival was bustling with Black talent including co-stars Meagan Good and Cory Hardrict who opened up about their intriguing roles in Tyler Perry‘s upcoming marital drama Divorce In The Black.

    Speaking to a curated group of journalists, the supportive duo opened up about their characters in the film that’s sure to deliver Perry’s golden formula of pearl clutch-worthy MESS with a message.

    “I do love that she has this journey because I think so many women who have either portions of this journey or have this almost exact journey,” said Good.

    “And so the biggest thing for me was making sure that she came into the fullness of self-love. She came into the fullness of understanding what she deserves.

    She came into the fullness of understanding that there is life and life more abundantly on the other side and that she actually got excited about that and empowered by that.

    And it’s just that she found herself and not just who she used to be, but who she’s growing into now. And so I hope that women are able to see that for themselves and I hope that it’s encouraging and inspiring.”

    When asked about his approach to playing a seemingly deranged character, Hardrict had this to say about the ‘therapeutic’ role.

    “Wow, how did I approach him? Like I do all my characters, like I create like backstories and just see like, why is he this way. I may watch some of my favorite movies that’s kind of relatable, like to this character. Like I watched What’s Love Got to do with it? you know?

    So, what I do is I see like, how could I, you know, pull some of the films that were like, great that went down in like, cinematic history and see what I can build, you know.

    And then I start, you know, when I’m acting I’m very intense, I’m passionate, I put it all on the camera, you know, but also what I loved about the characters, I was allowed to be vulnerable as well.

    And then, you know, sometimes when you’re going through things in your personal life, you don’t really have an outlet, you know, to express yourself or to get out the tears and get out the frustration or pain.

    And the film, it came at the right time, you know, in my life and all things, you know, I give all praise to God and all things happened in this time.

    So getting that call from Mr. Perry was divine. You know, it was divine and saying that he wanted to work with me and knowing that my sister Megan, you know, nudged and gave him a little bump and God did the rest.

    I just knew that it was, you know, it was, it was like my time to move on to something greater and I put all into the character and I left it there. But that’s part of being a human being.”

    Beaming with good vibes, Good jumped back in to show her co-star some love which, based on the trailer, is long gone between the two.

    ‘It’s interesting because that’s why I was so excited about Corey playing this part because he’s so different than the character and he’s such a gentle person and such a, like a kind, just like class act and just different.

    I was like, ‘he’s gonna be able to find the humanity in this character that somebody else might miss because they’re playing at the idea instead of giving the empathy.’”

    According to the press release, Divorce In The Black centers around a young bank professional named Ava (Meagan Good) who’s devastated when her husband Dallas abandons their marriage.

    ‘Ava is determined to fight for their union, but fate intervenes, revealing Dallas’ wicked deeds that have ruined their marriage,’ per the official synopsis.

    Tia Mowry didn’t let living the single life get her down in 2023! Instead, the actress says she embraced the “value of solitude.”

    Taking to Instagram days before the year ends, Mowry explained what she learned by shifting her mindset. She started by “confessing” that she’s “never been alone until now.”

    “For the longest time, I’ve found myself in the company of others, as my work and family commitments kept me constantly surrounded by people, and, not to mention, I have a twin. Alone time was a rare occurrence growing up. However, over the past year, I deliberately shifted my perspective and embraced moments of solitude,” Tia wrote.

    Tia’s lengthy caption was attached to a video of her jokingly singing and dancing. She held what looked like a wine bottle in one hand and a filled glass in the other. She captioned the clip, “Me when no one is home.” 

    More Details On Tia Mowry’s Newfound Solitude Journey

    It’s been over a year since Tia Mowry filed for divorce from Cory Hardrict after 14 years of marriage and 22 years of romance. The marriage was reportedly dissolved amid what would’ve been their 15th anniversary this past April.

    Their divorce docs reportedly listed “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their end. However, shortly after Tia filed in Oct. 2022, Hardrict denied cheating on her. The former pair now share joint custody of their two children, son Cree and daughter Cairo.

    This month, Tia popped out at the Los Angeles movie premiere of ‘Wonka’ with her kiddos in tow. Then, on Christmas Day, Mowry shared a carousel post featuring holiday photos with Cree and Cairo. The post contrasts last year’s holiday re-cap when Tia and Cory spent the holidays together amid the divorce.

    Over the past year, the actress has spoken openly about living in her truth and being “nervous and terrified” to date in her 40s. Most recently, in September, she shared words of encouragement for women struggling to leave a toxic relationship.

    After shifting her mindset in 2023, Mowry said on Dec. 29 that being alone wasn’t “a punishment.”

    “I realized that being alone wasn’t a punishment but rather an opportunity to recharge. Through conscious effort, I transformed these moments into a crucial aspect of maintaining my well-being. This shift allowed me to recognize the value of solitude in refreshing my mind and spirit.”

    She added that her rejuvenation journey allows her to “fully be present” with her loved ones.

    Tia Mowry Announces Separation From Husband Cory Hardrict

    Actors Tia Mowry and Cory Hardrict are separating after 14 years of marriage.

    Mowry announced the separation in a statement on Instagram Tuesday, shortly after TMZ published a story reporting that she had filed for divorce. The couple wed in 2008 and share two children: Cree, 11, and Cairo, 4.

    The “Family Reunion” actor posted a photo of herself with Hardrict, and a statement about their decision to part ways.

    “I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”

    She continued: “I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”

    In 2017, Mowry said in a video on her YouTube channel “Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix” that she and Hardrict dated for eight years prior to getting married.

    In that clip, Hardrict opened up about their relationship, saying he knew Mowry was “the one” based on how she treated him when he first moved to Los Angeles and was struggling financially.

    “I was dirt poor, I didn’t have anything, and she appreciated everything for what it was and she loved me for me,” he said. “I knew, once I can get financially in a better situation, that I’m going to buy her a ring and that’s gonna be my wife.”

    The “Karen” actor also discussed the beginning of his love story with Mowry in a 2015 interview with Global Grind.

    “I had odd jobs, I worked at Kmart ― graveyard shift, security … I was just grinding, man,” he said. “I met my wife during them days, and she was with me when she was coming out of ‘Sister, Sister’ ― but they had everything, man, and I didn’t have anything. I had a studio apartment, sleeping in the corner with no furniture for almost two years.”

    Mowry and her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley, starred in the popular sitcom “Sister, Sister” from 1994 to 1999.

    Hardrict said his friendship with Mowry began after he ran into the twin sisters while he was at a bus stop in downtown Los Angeles.

    “I was waiting on the bus stop, I shot my first film,” he told interviewer Xilla Valentine. “Her sister and her drove by, they saw me waiting, they asked me to give me a ride. I was just, like, embarrassed. I was downtown. They gave me a ride, and we were friends ever since.”

    “That’s how that relationship started,” he added.

    On Sunday, Mowry posted an Instagram video of herself at the beach with a message about self-love and letting go.

    “There’s two things we can control in life: our attitude and our effort,” she wrote. “And as hard as it is to accept all the things we cannot control and to let go…sometimes we have to in order to grow. I am making a commitment to love myself fiercely and unconditionally.”
