  • I’m a Fashion Editor Living in L.A.—This Weekend Getaway Is My Best-Kept Secret

I’m a Fashion Editor Living in L.A.—This Weekend Getaway Is My Best-Kept Secret

    [ad_1]

Los Olivos lies in the Santa Ynez Valley in California, just outside of Santa Barbara. The town is known for having some of the best food and wine in the state, which I can strongly vouch for. The trip only takes about three hours from Los Angeles, and the drive is breathtaking, as you can see in the above photo through the window of our Audi Q8 e-Tron. For those of you who speak electric car, I was able to get from L.A. to Los Olivos in just one charge—it’s that easy.

I most recently visited right before Christmas during a rainy weekend in December. The gloomy weather created such a cozy atmosphere that made the town feel like something out of a movie. Everything was decorated for the holiday season, and the people were extremely friendly. Due to the small nature of the town, you will never feel stressed that you aren’t seeing enough, because there isn’t that much to see… in a good way. There, you can relax and detach, which is exactly why I love going. Below, I have mapped out my favorite place to stay, where I like to eat, and a few more activities that should fill up one perfect weekend getaway in this adorable destination.

  • These 7 2024 Trends Are the Best for Travel

These 7 2024 Trends Are the Best for Travel

    [ad_1]

Take it from me, a remote worker who doesn’t live in a “fashion” city: The outfits I wear for travel are the most important outfits that I wear. I choose my travel outfits carefully and usually shop for new pieces while I’m making my packing list. I’ve already started thinking about the trips I have planned in 2024 so far, and it’s probably going to dictate what trends I buy for the next season to some extent.

As you know, not all trends are appropriate for travel. I tend to gravitate toward ones that are versatile and comfortable and don’t take up a ton of luggage space. I took a close look at the spring/summer 2024 and my Instagram feed and selected seven that are perfect for travel and that I’ll definitely be shopping for soon. Keep scrolling to find out what makes them superior and shop them for your own 2024 travel wardrobe.

  • “Wellness” Is My Word for 2024—Meet the 30 Products Keeping Me on Track

“Wellness” Is My Word for 2024—Meet the 30 Products Keeping Me on Track

    [ad_1]

Every new year, I make a list of goals and resolutions like everyone else to set myself up for success. This usually involves taking stock of where I’m at in different areas of my life and deciding what I want to change and where I want to be. When I looked at the wellness aspect of my life, I noticed a serious hole. I hadn’t been prioritizing working out, meditating, or journaling. I had been so focused on other areas that I was neglecting the one that I needed to nurture most to show up as my best self. This year, I decided that health and wellness are going to come to the forefront for me.

No more skipping Pilates to meet friends for martinis and fries or letting my supplements collect dust on my vanity. At the start of my wellness journey, I knew I would need some assistance from the wellness brands I know and trust. During my latest visit to ALO’s New York City wellness center after a Pilates class and sweat in the sauna, I noticed all of the new wellness products the brand has been introducing, including a new line of supplements. From there, I went on a bit of a shopping spree, and I found some really, really good stuff.

Keep scrolling to take a look at the 30 wellness products I’m buying to keep me on track for 2024.

4 Parisians Told Me These 2024 Trends Are a Waste of Time

    [ad_1]

We’re a few weeks into 2024, and while I missed the New Year opportunity to clean out my closet, this weekend is going to be the time that I make it happen. As I’ve started to think about what I should keep and what I should toss, I’ve realized that I’m still stumped by a few items. So I decided it was time to call on some friends.

Since French girls are some of the earliest adopters of what’s new on the scene, I decided to ask some of my favorites which trends they’ll be wearing and which they’ll be pressing pause on ahead of fashion week. Their answers might just astound you. Below, find the four trends they’ve left behind in 2023.

  • Dieux’s Newest Moisturizer Saved My Dehydrated, Acne-Prone Skin

Dieux’s Newest Moisturizer Saved My Dehydrated, Acne-Prone Skin

    [ad_1]

If you’re not already familiar with Dieux, the brand’s other superstar moisturizer that was launched prior is Instant Angel ($45). This lipid-rich moisturizer is designed with dry skin in mind, but it’s also labeled as noncomedogenic, so you may still be able to use it if you’re prone to breakouts. I loved this formula, but I think it was slightly too rich for my skin and ended up causing a pimple or two. I was incredibly bummed but was ecstatic when the brand dropped a lighter version for us oily folks. The brand’s co-founder Charlotte Palermino loves them both equally. “My personal favorite is layering the two,” she shares. “Because Air Angel floods the skin with hydration, I treat it almost like a hydrating serum and lock it all in with Instant Angel. Normally, I do this at night, and I’m glowing when I wake up! If I had to choose between the two, Instant Angel is my favorite. That’s because I have dry skin, and Instant Angel doesn’t sit on the skin. It sinks in and really reinforces your barrier. The glowiest skin is always happy skin, and that’s what these two do.”

Joyce de Lemos, cosmetic chemist and co-founder of the brand, gives us a bit more insight into Air Angel and what makes it really shine: “[It] was proven through clinical testing to hydrate and moisturize the skin for up to 12 hours after one application. Keeping the skin moisturized is important to maintaining a healthy and optimal lipid barrier function. Also, Air Angel was tested by people with self-perceived acne-prone skin, and it was found to be non-acnegenic and noncomedogenic.”

De Lemos also shares a few more benefits and what makes Air Angel such a smooth operator. “While Air Angel provides the same hydrolipid blend as Instant Angel, the lipid level is lower, and therefore, the texture is less rich than Instant Angel,” she says. “It’s perfect for those who simply prefer gel-creams, live in more humid climates, or have oilier acne-prone skin types that need hydration but not necessarily the heavier level of lipids. For drier skin types, Air Angel can also work great as a hydrating serum to layer underneath Instant Angel.”

7 Trendier Basics That Fashion People Are Wearing With Jeans Now

    [ad_1]

Trends may come and go, but denim is forever. As style people, we wear our classic blue jeans multiple times a week and tend to lean on them whenever we can’t think of something else to wear. Of course, they never really go out of style, but it doesn’t take an expert eye to see they’ve taken a back seat to other items like tailored trousers and maxi skirts in recent months.

All that is to say I wouldn’t be surprised if you found yourself in a rut when deciding what to wear with jeans to make them feel up-to-date. Naturally, I have a few ideas to make them feel fresh and, dare I say it, even on-trend for 2024. It all comes down to styling them with a few key items. Simple choices like accessories or shoes can make a world of difference. But don’t just take my word for it. Keep scrolling to see proof.

Ahead, I’m sharing seven trendier items and styling ideas that solve the mystery of how to make jeans feel cool in 2024.

Making My Bedroom Look Peak Fashion Person Only Required These Easy Changes

    [ad_1]

Moving into a new apartment can be overwhelming, and I definitely felt that way when I first found my current home. I spent so much time and energy working on the living room that I lost the remaining energy I had left when it was time to finish the bedroom. That meant my bedroom was more of a functional room for the first two years that I lived here, and now, it is finally time to give it a fashion-person upgrade.

I was acquainted with interior designer Sarah Solis, and she gave me the inspiration I have been needing to get started on this journey. It turns out there are only a few easy changes required to make your bedroom peak fashion person. Let’s talk about it.

I’m So Over Winter—30 Cute Spring Items I’m Already Buying From Free People

    [ad_1]

It’s safe to say that winter is not my favorite season. (Especially this stretch of winter, when the holidays are over, the party invites have stopped, and the snow has arrived.) While I’m so over winter, I’m finding myself getting a head start on shopping for pieces to wear when it’s finally springtime in New York. I’m talking about sundresses to wear at the park, halter tops to pair with jeans, and two-piece sets for when it’s finally warm enough to have brunch outside.

  • 8 Trends I’m Stealing From the Fall 2024 Men’s Shows

8 Trends I’m Stealing From the Fall 2024 Men’s Shows

    [ad_1]

Unlike the womenswear shows that can sometimes feel impossible to avoid on social media, if you don’t actively pay attention to or cover menswear, you might not have even known that the fall/winter 2024 shows just ended—apart from Loewe, where all the “baby girls” plus Taylor Russell played dress-up in high-waisted corduroys, fuzzy suede boots, and sparkly blazers. That’s where I come in. Even if you weren’t watching every livestreamed show as they took place like I was, you’d want to know the trends that debuted there and steal them.

From rugged work coats at Louis Vuitton and Prada (you might remember their lauded appearance in the spring/summer 2024 womenswear collection) to fashion-friendly, undeniably chic groutfits seen at Valentino and Sabato De Sarno’s first menswear show for Gucci, the eight trends ahead include a little bit of everything cool right now in fashion. Scroll down to meet them all.

I'm Already Wardrobe-Planning for Spring—30 Essentials on My Must-Buy List

    [ad_1]

Given that the spring collections debuted nearly six months ago, it shouldn’t be a huge surprise that I’ve had my wardrobe for the long-awaited return to warmth planned out for quite some time now. It takes time to perfect. Since fashion is famous for working way ahead, I’ve had plenty of time to ruminate on and save up for all the covetable items I’ve spotted in the lead-up to spring’s return.

Taking inspiration from the runways—think satin heels à la Prada and Altuzarra—vintage mood boards heavily featuring the likes of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, Gisele Bündchen, Carla Bruni, and stylists who got their hands on the spring collections first, I’ve managed to build a perfect “no item missed” list for the season ahead. This way, if your spring fashion interests line up in any way with mine, you can simply and efficiently check off each item as you make it yours right along with me. I suggest starting with the first one. (Bonus: It’s already on sale!)

The New Spring Color Trend Following in Red's Bold Footsteps

    [ad_1]

Despite the “quiet luxury” movement of 2023, the major color trends of our time are quite bold—think kelly green, Barbie pink, and the most recent: red. (And while pops of these colors are the easiest way to incorporate them into an outfit, the fashion crowd never shies away from wear the latest bold color trend head-to-toe.) If you’re starting to feel like red has peaked and are ready to move on to the next, let’s discuss the bold color that was all over the S/S 24 runways: cobalt blue.

From a ruffled band-style jacket at Burberry to flirty mini dresses at Balmain to gradient polo shirts at Loewe, deep, bold blue has grabbed the fashion world’s attention. Time will tell if it translates as strongly to the mainstream as red did in the fall, but all signs are currently pointing to cobalt upending crimson for the time being. • These Cool-Girl Fragrances Are the Chicer Versions of Body Mists I Loved in 2005

These Cool-Girl Fragrances Are the Chicer Versions of Body Mists I Loved in 2005

    [ad_1]

The year is 2005. I’m getting ready to go to the mall with my friend (her mom is going to drop us off because neither of us is old enough to drive ourselves). We’re listening to Kelly Clarkson, Gwen Stefani, and The Black Eyed Peas, as I try to decide which body mist to use. I have such classics as Victoria’s Secret Love Spell, Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar, and a no-name bottle of blue raspberry-scented solution that I purchased at Claire’s. I choose the latter and douse myself in a dripping cloud of it. Life is good.

Fast forward to the modern day—almost a full 20 years later!—and I’m a beauty editor who fondly reminisces about her first foray into fragrance. My perfume collection has indeed changed. Now, it’s full of high-end and expensive glass bottles, but believe it or not, I still use body mists—albeit chic, grown-up ones.

I’m talking about Phlur’s latest launches. The cool-girl fragrance brand recently released three body/hair mists, and I can’t stop spritzing them. There’s a sultry amber, a classic vanilla, and a bright citrus scent. Each one is better than the next, and even though they give me some serious nostalgia, they feel elevated and mature. Keep scrolling to see all three!

I Always Look at Princess Diana’s Outfits for Inspo—30 Items That Have Her Vibe

    [ad_1]

If you know fashion, you know that Princess Diana has been remembered for her iconic style. So iconic that many Gen Zers, who hadn’t been around to see the life of Princess Di, are fascinated with her style and consider her an icon. Personally, I have always been inspired by the way she dressed. From laid-back outfits to her more “royal” moments, every look she wore encompassed a hint of casual classiness that I just adore.

While Princess Diana wore many iconic outfits I’ve re-created myself, I thought about what items currently on the market have that cool “people’s princess” vibe. After using some of Diana’s old outfits as a guide, I got to searching for pieces that had the Princess of Wales’ essence and ended up with 30 picks that I think nailed it.

If Lady Di is also constantly on your mood board, you’re going to want to take a look at these…

I've Never Been to Greece, But This Brand Makes Me Glow Like a Santorini Sunset

    [ad_1]

I have a lot of things on my bucket list, and going to Greece is one of them. Blame it on my fixation with ancient history or the fact that I’ve watched the cinematic masterpiece that is Mamma Mia! probably 50 times in my life, but I would love nothing more than to leave my responsibilities behind and relax on an island in the Mediterranean for a couple of months.

Unfortunately, I haven’t made it there yet, and to be honest, I don’t see myself making it there for a while. To tide myself over until I’m finally able to book a plane ticket, I can turn on Mamma Mia! again or turn to one of my favorite skincare brands—Korres.

There are a lot of reasons I love this Greek skincare brand. One of the top ones is that it cooperates with local farmers and uses traditional ingredients to create its effective formulas. These formulas target a variety of skin concerns. Do you struggle with dark spots and discoloration? Korres makes a few products that can help. Dryness and irritation? Yep. What about loss of firmness and elasticity? Definitely. Ahead, check out my favorite Korres products. Plus, see proof that they can make your skin glow like a Santorini sunset.

  • Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy Is My Leopard-Print Muse—4 Ways to Wear It Like Her

Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy Is My Leopard-Print Muse—4 Ways to Wear It Like Her

    [ad_1]

If you’re simultaneously obsessed with the latest micro-trends and too intimidated to test them out, you’ve come to the right place. This is Ways to Wear, a monthly series where editor Eliza Huber offers a dose of outfit inspiration focused on current trends that feel intriguing yet overwhelming at the same time. Consider it your guide to actually wearing the coolest items of the moment, no matter how puzzling they might appear at first.

In fashion, a few years never pass by without at least one person trying to make leopard print a thing again. The kitschy print will show up in a runway collection or outside of one of L.A.’s many celebrity hot spots (yes, I’m looking at you, Sushi Park and Giorgio Baldi) in the form of a velvet coat or pair of loafers, leading to a bevy of content surrounding its return to fashion’s good graces. It rarely sticks, though, and I think I know why.

Whenever leopard print has become a “trend,” it’s always done so in a way that feels excessive or over-the-top, but the times when it’s felt the most covetable are when it’s worn in a casual, laissez-faire manner that allows whatever item it’s printed on to become a timeless staple. There’s a reason why my leopard-print mood board doesn’t include very many images from the handful of times that leopard print has made waves in the last two decades. Instead, it mostly consists of photos from the ’80s and ’90s, where it’s donned by off-duty models and New York City muses completely nonchalantly—with jeans and a tee or a black turtleneck and matching pencil skirt. To make leopard print work, it has to appear effortless. No one managed to do just that better than Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
