  • Cropped Pants Are Out, Puddle Pants Are In—8 Celeb Looks That Prove It

Cropped Pants Are Out, Puddle Pants Are In—8 Celeb Looks That Prove It

    [ad_1]

Five years ago, if someone told me that cropped pants would be passé in just a few years, I don’t know that I would have believed it. At 5’4″, I’m used to spending a good amount of time and money at the tailor or shopping for pants with an inseam of 28″ or less. But now the year is 2022 and cropped pants are feeling like more and more of a distant memory. In its place are puddle pants, and celebrities have been solidifying their importance more and more every day.

Puddle pants are pretty much exactly how they sound: ultra-long trousers (or jeans) that pool around the ankles, dragging on the floor. Pants dragging on the floor isn’t really music to my ears, but a trend is a trend, and you can always wear heels to minimize the dragging. But some celebs, such as Zoë Kravitz, are embracing the puddle and even wearing flats with the trend. Others, such as Kate Middleton and Rihanna, are wearing them with their highest heels. Whatever your shoe preference, puddle pants are shaping up to be one of the biggest pant trends of 2022. Scroll on to see which stylish celebs are wearing them and shop my favorite puddly pairs.

Sorry, But These 7 Winter Handbag Trends Didn’t Quite Make the Cut This Year

    [ad_1]

Normally, when you think of winter fashionhandbags aren’t the first things that come to mind. Boots, outerwear, and dangerously soft accessories maybe. But purses? Not so much. Nonetheless, many of us will carry one or more every single day of the season, just as we all in the other three. And while some people might be okay with ignoring our handbags from now until spring, I’m not, and neither are my fellow editors.

In an effort to draw some attention toward handbags this winter, I called on said editors to find out which styles they’re planning to let hibernate throughout the colder months and which will become their new go-tos. And just as I suspected, they each had plenty to say. See? I’m not the only one ready to rally behind the handbag space during its off season.

Keep scrolling for the inside scoop on all the winter handbag trends Who What Wear editors are passing on right now and which ones they’ll be carrying instead.

I Took a Break From Shopping But These Zara Finds Pulled Me Back In

Shopping for myself is my idea of a good time, but lately, it’s been on pause. In the interest of being a little selfless during the holidays, I’ve directed all of my shopping energy towards saving up to buy everyone else gifts. Needless to say, I’ve been on somewhat of a spending sabbatical. I still have more time to go before my self-imposed break is finished, and so far I’ve resisted the urge to buy everything haunting my Instagram and TikTok feeds, but after browsing through Zara’s new lineup, I may have to cheat a little.

The newest drops at the retailer have just been too good. Artful prints, expensive-looking coats, and romantic floral pieces that look like they could be from Saint Laurent—I am sold. My wallet won’t be too thrilled, but at least my closet will be. After a solid hour of combing through the entire site, my cart is overflowing to the brim with trendy pieces I want to wear immediately. And because I really am selfless, I’m sharing them all below. Keep scrolling to check them out.

  • French Glamour: The Styling Combo That I Can’t Wait to Wear

French Glamour: The Styling Combo That I Can’t Wait to Wear

    [ad_1]

    Photo:

    Saint Laurent

There were a lot of thrills on the S/S 23 runways, but in my book, the moment that bested them all belonged to Saint Laurent. In a dazzling presentation set against the Eiffel Tower, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello sent down one of his strongest silhouettes to date: padded-shoulder maxi coats layered over skintight jumpsuits and body-hugging maxi dresses. While Vaccarello also heavily showcased sheer dresses and seductive midriff cutouts, it was this maxi coat-and-dress pairing that ruled the show (14 out of its 49 looks to be exact). And apparently, I wasn’t the only fan. (Beyoncé wore one of the looks to her Renaissance album release party only a few days later.) Reportedly inspired by performer Martha Graham and ’80s French glamour, the overall styling felt unabashedly glossy, elegant, and enigmatic.

Although runway trends usually take some time before they’re able to be directly interpreted, this trend descended in the middle of maxi-hemline mania—meaning there’s no shortage of maxi dresses and coats to make this look work. As any fashion obsessive would, I did my homework and compiled a few options of the styling combo for you. Below, see how to pull off Saint Laurent’s vision of French glamour right now before the runway collection drops.

  • I’ve Lived in NYC for 17 Years, and This Is the Winter Capsule I Swear By

I’ve Lived in NYC for 17 Years, and This Is the Winter Capsule I Swear By

    [ad_1]

Dressing for winter and pulling it off in a stylish way can sometimes be a tall order. While a leather jacket and a few light layers are all that’s ever really needed to get by in the South and West, here on the East Coast, though, it’s another story. Enter Shalini Acharya, an influencer and veteran New Yorker. We routinely turn to this fashion creative for top-notch outfit ideas because of her directional and elevated approach to style. And while everyone has a different method for bundling up in the winter, the 17 years (and counting) that she’s spent living in NYC have helped her develop a well-rounded and well-edited lineup of winter staples. To that point, her capsule wardrobe, in particular, is consistently worth noting.

As a minimalist, Acharya never wants to buy too many pieces, but after a little trial and error, she’s landed on a winter capsule wardrobe that allows her to stay both warm and stylish with a few key essentials. First, the turtleneck top became the ultimate layering piece. When worn with jeans or under a dress, it lends a sophisticated spin to any look. Next, a heavier sweater was perfect for colder days. Not one to give up dresses, she learned to love longer hemlines and taller boots to meet them. Another winter must? Knee-high boots, which are essential for pairing with long dresses and navigating snowy sidewalks. And finally, classic wool coats are the ultimate topper for both banishing the cold and looking stylish. Go on to shop the 16 pieces from her winter capsule wardrobe, and check out a few outfit combinations along the way.

  • The Jacket I Purged From My Closet is Officially Back (and I Have Regrets)

The Jacket I Purged From My Closet is Officially Back (and I Have Regrets)

    [ad_1]

Being a fashion editor, I pride myself on making savvy wardrobe decisions based on the research I’ve done for my stories. But I’m not perfect, and there’s one fashion-related regret I need to get off my chest. Not too long ago, I got into one of my frequent cleaning frenzies and purged a number of denim jackets from my closet. While I usually end up satisfied with my Marie Kondo-esque cleanouts and happy to have the extra closet (and mental) space back, I have to admit that my latest one may have gone a little too far.

You see, I rid my entire closet of any denim jackets since I hadn’t been wearing them nearly as much. Now, though, I’m afraid to share that the staple has been on a comeback tour this season (and boy do I have regrets). Thanks to the fresh ways designers like Miu Miu, Khaite, and Wales Bonner are reimagining it, the jacket style has resurfaced as a wardrobe must-have yet again, and with the help of favored denim brands such as Agolde, Levi’s, it’s accessible to everyone. Fashion girls are already giving a heavy backing to beloved staple, so flip through the below denim jacket outfits and consider this your official green light to give it another go in 2022.

Now that we’re approaching winter, I think it’s safe to say that the time has come to get serious about our outerwear game. You’re probably layering up a little extra right now and maybe even dusting off your heavier toppers from the back of your closet, which is why I thought it would be fun to go shopping for some fresh options that don’t feel like they’re major investments.

In the interest of staying within my own budget, I turned to my favorite retailers ZaraH&MMango, and more which always stock the best affordable winter coats every season. I spent the morning going through each of their outwear sections and hundreds of product pages later, 29 coats stood out as expensive-looking while staying under $300. It includes a mix of bright statement makers and reinvented classics, so I mean it when I say there’s something for everyone. Scroll on to find your next seasonal topper.

  • I Work at a Thrift Store—People in NYC Are Getting Rid of These 5 Things

I Work at a Thrift Store—People in NYC Are Getting Rid of These 5 Things

    [ad_1]

For the past few weeks, I have been in an extreme state of closet clean-out. Living in a small New York City apartment is never easy when you’re an avid shopper, and I’ve hit my limit. I have a hard time letting go of things that I once loved or never got around to wearing, so this has led to multiple rounds of self-interventions. My first round of cleaning out my closet was very light, and I quickly realized I had gone too easy on myself when I still did not have the room for the winter coats that I’ll need to move into my home sooner rather than later. This entire conundrum led me to visit my local consignment shop more often than I ever have before.

During one of my recent appointments, one of the store managers explained to me the process of deciding whether they would be able to sell something or ask the customer to take it back with them. As the team members explained their process to me, I realized that this was something worth reporting on. Our most recent conversation included illuminating revelations, such as the death of Yeezys and the obvious fact that a lot of skinny jeans have been dropped off as of late. Below, you’ll find the five things that Buffalo Exchange employees told me were making their way past the selling point and into the donation bins. Let’s see if you can guess what they said.

EmRata and Olivia Wilde Just Brought Back This Controversial “Naked” Dress

    [ad_1]

The sheer trend is really nothing new. If you’ve been paying any attention at all to celebrity style, you’d know that variations of the “naked” trend have popped up plenty of times over the years, from going pants-less to “floss” fashion. And 2022 is merely leaving its own mark on the look. Just this month, Emily Ratajkowski, Olivia Wilde, and Hannah Bronfman all stepped out in what we’re deeming to be the latest iteration of wearing next to nothing. They all opted for shimmery and sheer mesh dresses that sparkle in the light.

But this isn’t just another daring celebrity trend designed to get us talking. No, the spring 2023 runways overwhelmingly back the look, which tells us that this is only just the beginning of the trend. At Miu Miu, Fe Noel, and 16Arlington, mesh pieces glimmered with crystal and rhinestone embellishments clearly meant for your after-hours wardrobe.

Ahead, see how celebs are wearing this new 2022 naked trend and the runway references, and then shop our favorite sheer shimmery pieces.

24 Things I’m Convinced Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy Would Wear in 2022

    [ad_1]

When it comes to points of fashion inspiration, my references are constantly in flux as trends emerge on the runways, street style shifts, cool celebrity looks unfold, and new designers take the helm of designer brands. One person who has remained a constant source of inspiration for many, many years, though, is the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Her point of view on minimal, elegant ‘90s fashion feels as relevant today as it did many decades ago and I always return to her classic looks as I continue to build out the staples in my closet.

One reason I think her style is so eternal is that her looks are timeless at their core. Rather than leaning into fleeting trends, her style is grounded in neutrals and seasonless silhouettes that go far beyond the moment she originally wore them. Ahead, I’m highlighting some pieces you can add to your cart now that are inspired by some of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s most iconic looks, plus some new finds I think would fit seamlessly into her wardrobe now.

  • I Tried “the Best Facial in NYC”—It’s $1000 and So Luxe

I Tried “the Best Facial in NYC”—It’s $1000 and So Luxe

    [ad_1]

I love getting facials. In my opinion, there’s really no better self-care option out there. Facials not only give me a built-in amount of time to not stare at a screen and try to relax, but they also give tons of skin benefits that make the treatment truly worthwhile. My facials typically fall on the more affordable end of the spectrum (I have bills to pay!), but when I got an invite to try “the best facial in NYC,” which comes with a whopping $1000 price tag, I was immediately intrigued.

This facial is from none other than JTAV Clinical Skincare, a luxury skincare clinic in Manhattan. Founded by Joie Tavernise, an NYC-based skin expert and medical aesthetician, JTAV’s signature facials are completely tailored to each person’s individual needs. Unlike many facials, JTAV facials combine clinical devices with tried-and-true facial techniques, rendering them a unique experience.

That being said, there are a few things you can typically expect from a JTAV facial. Usually, Tavernise will deeply cleanse, exfoliate skin with a Hydrafacial, dermaplane, extract clogged pores, and use LED light. Depending on your needs, Tavernise will also use Laser Genesis therapy for tone and texture, Clear + Brilliant for more extreme tone and pore-size issues, or intense pulsed light for hyperpigmentation.

The experience itself felt like a mix between a relaxing facial and a dermatologist appointment. Tavernise seemed to know more about my skin than I do (and even spotted some places I may have picked at too much). Each step felt methodical and results-driven, and I felt like I could ask questions as she went along to get a better understanding of the process.

My skin is typically pretty clear and leans dry, but lately, I’ve been experiencing a lot more breakouts than usual thanks to stress and hormones. I let Tavernise know this, and she made sure to customize my facial accordingly, targeting problem areas while still ensuring my skin remained hydrated.

Honestly, the best part of the facial is that (aside from the clinical devices) Tavernise used a lot of skincare products that you can buy and use at home—which is great for those of us who can’t spring for a facial the price of our rent. I asked Tavernise to walk me through our entire facial, including all the products she used. Keep reading for the full rundown straight from Tavernise herself, not including the laser treatment and LED light treatment Tavernise used to even tone and texture and help mitigate breakouts.

6 Dated Winter Accessories I’m Finally Ditching

    [ad_1]

During the many, many months of warm weather (I live in the South), I honestly kind of forget about my winter clothes and accessories. (Out of sight, out of mind, right?) But as soon as I see the 50s in the Weather app, I’m digging through bins of temporarily forgotten scarves and hats.

Something that I notice each year is that my taste in winter accessories really changes, perhaps because I’ve gravitated toward trendy ones in the past. When I think about it, that’s kind of the case this year too. I suppose the reason for this is that winter outfits can be a bit dull and the best way to make them less so is with accessories.

Just for fun, I’m divulging the winter accessories I’m retiring and the ones that are taking their place this year, because closet space isn’t infinite, folks. Scroll to shop all of my fresh favorites.

There aren’t many retailers that you could say this about, but if Amazon was the only retailer we had, we’d probably be okay. 9 Fragrances to Give Your Friends With Annoyingly Great Taste

    [ad_1]

I’m not going to call anyone out, but I will say there are a handful of people in my inner circle who make holiday shopping stressful—not because they’re difficult people but because they have irritatingly great taste. In years past, I’ve had more gifting-related breakdowns in shopping malls than I care to admit, all in a quest to find the perfect presents for the people who matter most to me.

I pride myself on my gift-giving abilities, so the stressful process is always worth the joy that comes on the other end. But this year, I’ve decided to put my sanity first and change up my shopping approach. What’s my strategy? I’ll be focusing on the one thing all my people have in common: really good style. The only thing missing from their near-perfect ensembles is a fragrance to pull it all together. The good news is Sephora‘s expertly curated selection of scents makes it surprisingly easy to find exactly what you’re looking for in a pinch—even for the most challenging people on your list.
