So, Visible Thongs Are Out, and Granny Panties Peeking Out of Your Pants Are In

    [ad_1]

The last time we coordinated our underwear with our outerwear was, well, never. But there’s a first time for everything, right?

If you tried out the visible-thong trend we’ve been tracking since 2020, including the peekaboo whale tale and the attention-grabbing G-string, then fear not. You’re definitely daring enough to tackle the 2022 version of stylish visible panty lines: high-rise panties that peek out from the top of your pants. While some may refer to this type of underwear as “granny panties,” members of the fashion set are demonstrating how to style the look in a way that is 100% intentional and not just the result of wearing big bloomers.

So what’s the key to achieving this delicate balance? We’re glad you asked: high waists, thick bands, and prominent logos for an extra “yes, I know you can see my undies” vibe. Experiment with boy shorts or lacy styles, classic cotton Calvin Kleins, and even newcomers to the category like Skims and MeUndies.

And remember: Comfort is always in style.

Even the Fanciest Fashion People Love This Under-$2 Accessory Trend

    [ad_1]

It’s true: Trendsetters and style stars worldwide are embracing the humble stretch headband. And even though this hair accessory can be found for under $2 in some places, it can also be worn with anything from designer denim to luxe leather and everywhere in between.

The stretchy headband also comes in a variety of fabrics and colors. While simple cotton versions are perfectly suitable for every day, headbands designed to be worn during workouts tend to have sweat-wicking properties and a firmer grip on the hair.

Just in case you need help getting started, we’ve pulled a few stretchy headbands under $2 each and several more at varying price points. No matter which style you choose, we’re sure you’ll find a headband that does the trick.

  • The “Boring” Winter Accessory That Can Make Any Outfit Look Luxe

The “Boring” Winter Accessory That Can Make Any Outfit Look Luxe

    [ad_1]

Anyone who lives in a cold climate has likely rolled out of bed on a frigid winter day and felt an overwhelming sense of either excitement or dread. Those first few weeks of cold weather can qualify as exciting because you finally get to wear that chunky sweater without sweating, and you can pull your beloved lug-sole boots out of storage. On the other hand, there comes the point mid-winter when even the most fashionable people can fall into a winter-dressing slump—the oversized puffer coats, excessive layering, and lack of sunlight past 5 p.m. begin to get to you. In those moments, you need to have an arsenal of accessories to bring back some of the excitement around winter dressing. What’s better for that purpose than a pair of leather gloves?

Hear me out on this: While most think of this as a staple that’s just for maintaining warmth, it’s actually the easy way to elevate any winter outfit. And to prove that point, I’ve done extensive image research to show how leather gloves are not only trending, but through styling, they’ve surpassed being a “boring” staple and moved into being a statement accessory. Keep reading to see how to style leather gloves to add a luxurious twist to all your winter outfits.

  • I’m an NY Stylist, and I Think This Color Is Replacing Brown

I’m an NY Stylist, and I Think This Color Is Replacing Brown

    [ad_1]

Caitlin Burke knows a thing or two about trends. The stylist and creative director has been in the industry for years, earning her fashion chops with Moda Operandi, Harper’s Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan. Suffice to say, when she has a hunch about an upcoming color trend, we listen. Via email, Burke told us:

“Ever since I discovered a cotton poplin Jil Sander blouse in an unexpected yet perfectly rich chocolaty brown hue in early 2021, I’ve been totally hooked on the color. At the time, it felt like a new neutral, and I hadn’t really seen cotton poplin done in that shade before. It became my colorway of choice for seemingly every new purchase. Lately though, I’ve found myself gravitating toward its natural successor: a deep wine-ish berry color

“To clarify, it’s not so much that this merlot shade is replacing brown; it’s more so just replacing my obsession with brown. I think the last few seasons spent acquiring chocolate-hued pieces has left me craving an equally rich companion to them. And although brown pairs well with lots of shades (a major part of its appeal), few feel as luxe as this oxblood color does to me right now.”

French Girls Laugh Every Time Americans Wear These 3 Things

    [ad_1]

There’s no denying the fact that Americans are obsessed with French style. As we’ve discussed pretty tirelessly, Parisians dress in a way that, for whatever reason, Americans aspire to achieve. Normally, we ask our favorite French women all about the items they’re buying, wearing, loving, etc., so that we can all go off and make our purchases accordingly, but this time, we wanted to switch it up. Intrigued yet?

We reached out to a handful of our favorite French women and asked them what, if anything, it is about American style that makes them laugh. I tried guessing before I asked them the daunting question, but my answers were nowhere close to what they had to say. When it comes to the differences between American and French style, these Parisians have quite a few things to say. Ahead, find out what these French women said they find funny about American style.

The 2023 Blazer Trend Is Here, and It’s Truly Perfect

    [ad_1]

Blazers always make quite an appearance on the runways no matter what season is at play, which means we can’t really tell you blazers are trending since, by now, they are 100% a wardrobe basic, must-have, go-to, etc. Instead, we like to examine this timeless outerwear style to identify the nuances from season to season. So what’s in store for next year? The collarless blazer. We’re talking no lapels in sight. This detail, although subtle, somehow still feels very significant—so much so that we are deeming it the blazer trend to know this year.

This particular blazer style offers up great opportunities to show off a funky collar should you choose to layer a shirt underneath or show off a glitzy assortment of necklaces with no distractions from the lapel. Overall, we think the look is so chic. The lack of a collar creates such a streamlined silhouette that reads extremely elevated no matter how it’s styled. Ahead, you’ll get to take a peek at a few of our favorite collarless-blazer moments from the runways, and of course, you’ll be able to shop our favorite versions of this trend along the way.

  • TikTok Star Meredith Duxbury Uses This Drugstore Mascara for a Natural Lash Lift

TikTok Star Meredith Duxbury Uses This Drugstore Mascara for a Natural Lash Lift

    [ad_1]

I do microcurrent as well and love it! How do you keep your skin in such great shape when you’re always trying new skincare and makeup products? My skin is sensitive, and some stuff doesn’t always agree with it—a tough part of the job. Do you have any advice for that?

It can definitely get overwhelming with all the different skincare products that are out there because you see it on TikTok, and you want to review all the different ones! My main advice would be to pay attention to what your skin needs and be aware of what condition your skin is in. For example, if you have super-dry skin and you have eczema patches on your face or dry patches, you don’t want to be using something that’s drying and made for acne. If you have acne, you don’t want to be using something that’s super oily and will clog your pores. I’d say just pay attention to the ingredients that are in the products you’re using and what the product is actually used for. That’ll keep your skin in good shape because you’re not using products that are going to strip your skin of its natural oils and stuff like that. Skincare and makeup also go hand in hand. You really need to take care of your skin for your makeup to look good and for your base to look good.

So true. I’m always looking for both skincare and makeup products that are also going to give me a glowy base. Do you have any key products that you use that help you achieve a natural glow?

I have so many! Like I said before, the Charlotte Tilbury wands are so good. They come off as super, super pigmented, and sometimes, you might think, “Oh my God, what did I just do? I put too much product on,” but they blend like magic. They’re so buttery and so dewy. Those are amazing. They’re also super easy to use, even for beginners. I just discovered another new one: the Makeup by Mario Ethereal Eyes Palette ($48). I used it yesterday actually. I’ve been seeing it all over TikTok. There are a few really shimmery shades in there, and it literally makes your eyes look like they’re like wet and glowing. It is so good. I really recommend that palette.

Let’s talk about your new Kiss Lashes holiday collaboration! How did this come together, and what do you love specifically about Kiss lashes?

Kiss came to me about a year ago and said they absolutely loved my TikTok and the full-glam looks [I create]. They wanted to come out with a holiday campaign, and I loved that idea. I’ve used Kiss my entire life. I’m obsessed with their lashes—they’re like the only lashes I use. I basically picked my favorite existing lashes of theirs, and we did a little twist on them. I renamed the lashes, and I just love Kiss. They’re such a great brand to work with. There are lashes within the collection that are natural but still full glam, and there are ones that are holiday full glam and almost give disco vibes. It was so fun to be involved in the development of the packaging, and it was such a great experience too because I want to have my own makeup brand one day, and it will be so great just having this experience in the development of everything.

That was another question I wanted to ask you! What would a Meredith Duxbury makeup line consist of?

I would love to have my own makeup brand. It’s definitely something that is a huge goal of mine. I think a Meredith makeup brand would be a mix of natural products and full glam because I feel like I’m such a mixture of both. One day, I’ll just be going to run errands and want to throw on some quick, easy products. Then on another day, I’ll want to do a huge, full-glam TikTok look. I want something that’s easy for everyone [to use]. Whether you’re a full-glam kind of girl or a more natural kind of girl, I want products that everybody can love and use. It’s definitely something that I want to put more time into and think more about, but that’s kind of the general idea. I just want something that’s super inclusive and everybody can get their hands on.

Are there any new up-and-coming makeup brands that you’re really excited about at the moment?

Yes! Nimya is one that I absolutely love. It’s NikkieTutorials’s new makeup brand, and I think she started with just skincare products, but she just released her first eye shadow palette. The colors of the brand name are just so cool with the orange and the blue. It’s so her, and it’s super inspiring to see a creator like her grow and just become so big and have this amazing makeup brand. I’m just so proud of her, and it’s so inspiring to see. Saie Beauty is another one. I’ve been loving the Starglow Gel ($28). It’s so good. That’s another recommendation you have to try! I’ve just seen them grow so much within the last year, especially on TikTok. TikTok is just insane how it can help sell out products in seconds. I found the Saie Starglow Gel on TikTok, too, so that brand has definitely skyrocketed over the last year.

Are there any makeup launches from the past year that have really stood out to you?

Yeah, I think clean beauty is a huge thing, and in 2022, it’s something that I think a lot of makeup brands are focusing on and realizing that it’s a priority for people. I think Kosas is really good with that. They came out with a foundation this year called the Revealer Skin-Improving Foundation ($42), and it’s for acne-prone skin. I don’t have acne-prone skin, but I love it because it just has ingredients in it that are really good for your skin. I think their growth this year has been amazing, and they market themselves so well. I think the packaging and just everything about the brand is so cool—it really stood out to me this year. Then obviously, Kiss Lashes stood out to me because I think it was great that they wanted to do their first influencer launch, and I’m so grateful that I was able to be the first influencer to collaborate with them.

And what would you say are a few career highlights for you this year?

I met Charlotte Tilbury, which was so inspiring. I look up to her so much, and Sophia Tilbury doing my makeup [was definitely a highlight]. Meeting Alicia Keys and meeting Halsey and doing my makeup with her at her house and just all the other amazing people that I’ve met. I’ve also had so many opportunities to work with such amazing brands like the Morphe Making You Blush collection campaign, which was so exciting. Kiss Lashes as well, like we talked about, and having a billboard in Times Square was so crazy to me. My whole family came, and we stood there and watched, and I was like, “This is so insane that I’m on a billboard in Times Square!” I just remember little me wanting to live in New York City so bad, and here I am having a billboard in Times Square. I’ve also met so many amazing friends and creators along the way this year too. It’s been such a successful year, and I’m so happy.

I’m excited to see what 2023 holds for you! I know you have some really cool collaborations coming down the pipeline. My last question is, What makeup looks can we look forward to for the rest of 25 Days of Christmas on your TikTok?

I’m so excited. I absolutely love Christmas. It’s one of my favorite holidays, and I love wintertime in general. It’s so fun and cozy. I really want to do a “boyfriend does my Christmas makeup” video because he’s so involved and loves this whole TikTok thing and is so supportive of my career. I also really love SFX makeup. It’s something that I did a lot of during Halloween, so I think I want to do a Grinch makeup look with SFX. Then I want to create a Cindy Lou look, and I work with a great hairstylist. His name is Erickson, and I think I want to have him come and do the whole Cindy Lou hairdo, and I’m gonna do the makeup. Then I’ll probably just do some easy holiday glam looks. I think that’s something that a lot of people want to see this time of year because I think it can be overwhelming. There are so many Christmas parties and events, and people might run out of ideas. Beginners might also be thinking they need some tips and tricks on how to do some more elevated holiday party glam looks, so that’s something I’m going to focus on. But I have papers and papers of ideas, so there will definitely be some many amazing Christmas videos!

I’m so excited to see what else is in store for the rest of the month and obviously for 2023! I’ll be following along, so I’ll get to see all of it.

Yeah, it’s going to be so fun. Thank you so much for this opportunity. It was so fun to talk about all of this with you!

I’m All About Relaxed Fashion—These 29 Items Are Front-Runners in My Wardrobe

    [ad_1]

One thing I know I’m not bringing into 2023? An overly complicated fashion sense. Gone are the days of wearing jeans that are a little too snug after I eat a meal or a pair of boots that I can only manage to take several steps in. No. I’m taking a stand. This year, I’ll be implementing a more relaxed approach to fashion.

Let’s be clear that when I say relaxed, I don’t mean messy or not put together. Instead, I’m referring to that easy, effortless look associated with French and Scandinavian street style. Of course, relaxed also implies embracing the baggy, loose, and flowy styles that happen to be in this season as well, which, considering the context, I’m all for.

If you’re like me, you’re probably enjoying the fact that unique, fun-centered pieces are the name of the game in fashion right now. I’m as much a lover of classics as the next (I mean, they’re necessary), but these days, I have more of a pull toward the coolest pieces I can find. Whether it’s a statement kind of cool or a subtle twist on a staple kind of cool.

Love it or hate it, there’s no denying the fact that nepotism is a potent force in the fashion industry. Many of the biggest names in modeling all had a leg up on their competition thanks to their famous parents, including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Willow Smith, and Lily-Rose Depp, just to name a few. (When you extend it to the entertainment industry, the list grows exponentially longer!)

So who will fill these models’ shoes when it comes to the next generation of so-called nepo babies? I’ve Lived in the Most Stylish Cities in the U.S., and These Items Feel Cool Now

    [ad_1]

While there are many fashionable pockets in the U.S., New York and L.A. definitely make the best dressed list. It’s pretty much a given considering New York is essentially a fashion designer’s mecca and L.A., of course, is home to the glitz and glam of Hollywood. I’ve lived in both places (currently I reside on the West Coast), and not to toot my own horn, but I think my geographical preferences have given me a keen sense of what trends are on the up and up.

While New York will always feel more sophisticated and trend-forward compared to L.A.’s classic, laid-back style, there’s definitely more overlap now than ever before. I’ve found myself longing to dress up lately, so it makes sense that refined styles like tailored trousers or even sparkly hair clips are on the rise alongside our beloved leisurewear. Your shoe choice more or less determines how comfortable you’ll remain throughout the day. Regardless of how cozy your clothing selection is, if your pair of flats or sandals pinch ever so slightly, your comfort level will swiftly start to decline. In an effort to avoid such discomfort, we often tap podiatrists to shed insight on those current footwear silhouettes that won’t cause as much pain.

Today, we wanted to zero in on the best (and worst) shoes to wear around the house. We turned to Benjamin Tehrani, DPM, of Kings Point Foot & Ankle in Los Angeles and creator of Nerve Assist for expert tips on the common styles that are okay and those that could cause some harm to your overall foot health. In addition, given that many of us do spend a lot of time walking barefoot around the house, Tehrani shed light on the pros and cons on that front, too.
