    We love easy recipes and this one is definitely that.. super simple! It’s perfect for just a few people and great for Thanksgiving. It takes practically no prep and it’s loaded in flavor. It’s one of those recipes that goes great with our creamy mashed potatoes and broccoli casserole.

    SWAPS

    In this recipe, you can use whole cranberry sauce in the can or jellied cranberry sauce. We made this with jellied cranberry sauce, but it works with either! This is made with Lipton Onion Soup Mix but if you don’t want to use that, you can always make your own…here is our recipe.

    ⭐TIPS

    We leave the netting on the turkey breast when we cook it in the slow cooker. It helps the turkey breast keep its shape. This is a very moist recipe and it will fall apart, so if you want to slice it on a plate, I suggest leaving it on. Also, some turkey breast comes with a gravy packet; we didn’t use that in this recipe. I would suggest keeping it and serving the gravy over mashed potatoes.

    LET’S COMPLETE THE MEAL

    For many years we had a non-traditional Thanksgiving. We served different dishes and everyone loved it. You don’t have to go the traditional route.

    Crock Pot Cranberry Turkey Breast

    This simple crock pot turkey breast is great for a few people. Only a handful of ingredients, super simple and great for the holidays eason.

    Prep Time 10 minutes

    Cook Time 6 hours

    Total Time 6 hours 10 minutes

    Course Main Course

    Cuisine American

    • 1 3 lb boneless turkey breast roast (we use Butterball)
    • 2 14 ounce Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce or Jellied Cranberry Sauce
    • 1 packet of dry onion soup mix
    • 1/4 cup of butter melted
    • Place your turkey breast (with the netting on) in the slow cooker and pour the melted butter over it.

    • Mix the dry onion mix and ONE can of cranberry sauce together and pour over the turkey breast.

    • Cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3 or until the turkey test done with your meat tester (should reach 165 degrees).

    • Once done, remove from gravy and take off netting. Slice and place on plate. Take the other can of cranberry sauce and spoon it over the turkey breast. You can put the gravy in gravy boat to pour over turkey if you like. (the gravy is great over mashed potataoes)

    The turkey breast came with a gravy packet and we didn’t use it. It would probably be delicious over mashed potatoes.

    We love a good apple dessert and this one is a great one! It’s simple to make in an iron skillet but you could also make it in an a 2 quart baking dish. This is a versatile dish since we added in some great spices but you could mix it up and make it your own. You can also use any apples you like in this dish.

    SWAPS & ADDITIONS

    We used cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in this dessert but you can easily switch that up. Add in some allspice or top it with cinnamon sugar if you like. Caramel sauce is always a good addition too! Some people love cheese on apple cobbler, so if you are one of those, then definitely add it to this one.

    Spiced Apple Cobbler

    This spiced apple cobbler has all the wonderful seasonings that go with apples. Made in an iron skillet or a 2 quart baking dish and comes together quickly.

    Prep Time 15 minutes

    Cook Time 45 minutes

    Total Time 1 hour

    Course Cobbler, Dessert

    Cuisine American

    • 6 to 8 cups apples peeled and chopped (I used 8 small Gala apples)
    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

    Topping for chopped apples:

    • 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup evaporated milk could use regular milk
    • 4 tablespoons butter melted
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 egg
    • Whisk together the brown sugar, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg in a bowl. Toss the chopped apples in the sugar and spice mixture. Add apples to the bottom of a 10 inch iron skillet or 2 quart baking dish.

    • Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a bowl. Stir in milk, butter, vanilla extract and egg. Spread over apples in dish. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven 45 to 50 minutes until crust is done and brown on top. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream on top.

    I usually sprinkle on some extra cinnamon before cooking just because my family loves it and cannot get enough of it. You could sprinkle some cheese on the apples before adding the topping if you like cheese but we like it as stated above and it is one of our favorites.

    Southern Pecan Cookies

    Southern sour cream pecan cookies are good anytime and wonderful for the holidays.

    • 1/2 cup oil I use Canola
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 cup pecan pieces

    Topping

    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
    • In a large mixing bowl whisk together the oil, eggs, sugar, vanilla and sour cream. Add flour, baking powder, salt, and soda and mix well with a large spoon. Fold in pecans. In a smaller bowl mix the sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Batter will look like cake batter. 

    • Drop by tablespoon full onto a very lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Sprinkle a pinch of the sugar and cinnamon topping on each cookie. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven 15 to 20 minutes. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen depending on the size you make the cookies.

    These cookies make about 2.5 dozen, so I set the servings at 8 since most people have about 4 cookies.

    SWAPS & ADDITIONS

    These muffins could be made with any pie filling. You could also add raisins to the muffins and top these with a little brown sugar too. If you are not a fan of the spices, simply switch them up. You can use pecans, walnuts or no nuts at all. Top these with a basic powdered sugar glaze if you like. You can freeze these muffins.

    • 1 21 ounce can apple pie filling (I use Duncan Hines Original Country Apple Pie Filling)
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
    • 3 tablespoons butter melted
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 cup nut pieces Optional
    • In a large bowl whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon. Add the vanilla extract, buttermilk, melted butter and eggs. Mix well with a spoon.

    • Spray a 12 cup muffin tin, add about 1/4 cup batter to each cup. Drop about 1 tablespoon of the apple pie filling into the batter. Sprinkle nuts on top. Bake in a preheated 375 degree oven 25 to 30 minutes until brown on top.

    • This recipe makes around 18 muffins.

    You can make these with about any kind of pie filling. They keep well and easily reheat in the microwave. I refrigerate any leftover. We love the filling “oozing” out of the muffins. You could add raisins along with the nuts and you could sprinkle a little brown sugar and cinnamon on top before baking.

  • ‘Molten hot metal exploded on me’: Georgia woman tries to make eggs. Then her stainless steel Cuisinart pan explodes

    When a Georgia woman started her day by trying to make eggs before her midterm, she didn’t expect to end up in the emergency room. But she says that’s exactly what happened when her Cuisinart stainless steel pan suddenly exploded.

    In a recent TikTok video that’s been viewed over 78,500 times, Annie (@anniesright) describes how it all happened.

    “This morning I woke up and I was like, ‘I’m gonna get a jump start on some last-minute studying,’” she says. “I went to make myself an egg breakfast, eggs being brain food.”

    She explains that she used her Cuisinart “stainless steel name-brand wedding gift pan” and heated it on an electric stove using the water-droplet test to check when it was hot enough. But the moment she tilted the pan, everything went wrong.

    “I turn it to maybe like a 30 or 45-degree angle, and molten hot metal exploded on me,” she recalls. “It exploded out of my pan, all over my stove and all over the floor.”

    Annie shows the aftermath in her video: metal chunks fused to her stovetop and splattered across her floor. “Got back from urgent care because molten metal dried on my finger and I had to pull it off,” she says. “Just so lucky that it didn’t get in my face or eyes.”

    Annie tagged the official TikTok account for Cuisinart in the comments.

    How Could This Have Happened?

    After the video spread, another TikTok creator, professional welder Anne (@highergroundwelding), shared a detailed explanation of what might’ve happened.

    She said it was likely not stainless steel that melted, but the aluminum layer inside the pan. “That’s aluminum,” Anne explained. “It’s not stainless steel because when stainless steel reaches temperatures that are hot enough to melt it, it turns black and crystalline.”

    Many stainless steel pans, Anne explained, have an aluminum core between two stainless layers for more even heating. Cuisinart’s stainless steel pans also have this layer of aluminum, according to their Amazon listing.

    “Aluminum makes it lighter and heats more evenly—but it also melts much faster,” the welder explains.

    She guessed that Annie’s stove overheated the pan past its limit. “Your pan glowed red, that’s a great way to destroy your cookware,” she said. Tipping it at an angle likely concentrated heat on a single point, which caused the aluminum to liquefy and burst through the outer layer.

    “Basically, the inside of your pan became popcorn,” she said. “Pressure built up until it burst. Throw the pan away and don’t do that again, especially not with high heat.”

    Other experts also advise against leaving stainless steel cookware unattended or overheating it, especially on high-powered burners. Once the aluminum inside gets too hot, it can become unstable.

    And just like Anne pointed out, the bright red glow in Annie’s video was a dead giveaway that the pan had been pushed far beyond safe cooking temperatures.

    People in the comments also debated the cause. Some echoed Anne’s theory, while others pointed fingers at the stove, or the brand.

    “I’d bet that’s a clad pan with an aluminum core,” one user wrote. “You melted the aluminum core. The instructions probably say not to heat it that high.”

    Another added, “You heated it until it was glowing. Like, glowing red. I’ve never seen that in my life.”

    Others suspected a hardware failure: “Your stove coil is damaged. Your pan made a short circuit in the coil and you basically made a welder. No normal stove can melt metal like that.”

    And some thought Annie should consider legal action. “Truly does feel like lawsuit material,” one viewer said.

    Another added, “Send it for independent testing and see what metal it actually is. Also, sue them.”

You can experiment with this and leave out what you don’t like, etc. The recipe above is the way I make it for my family. If you are not a fan of raisins, leave those out, too, or use craisins instead. Switch up the pecans for walnuts.

    Amish Brown Sugar Dumplings

    This is an Amish recipe that my family loves. Perfect dessert for any occasion.

    Batter Ingredients:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
    • 1 cup raisins
    • 2 tablespoons butter softened
    • 1 cup milk

    Syrup Ingredients:

    • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tablespoon butter
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • In a large mixing bowl whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar and cinnamon. Stir in the nuts and raisins. Cut in the softened butter. Add milk and stir. The dough should come together in kind of a large ball. It should all be wet but not real sticky.

    • Next, combine the syrup ingredients except for the vanilla extract in a pot on top of the stove and bring to a boil. Remove the syrup, stir in the vanilla extract and pour into a 9 x 13 baking dish.

    • Drop spoonfuls of the batter on top of the hot syrup. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes until the batter is done on top

    • 2 cups chicken broth or 1 15 ounce can
    • 1 12 ounce bag frozen broccoli
    • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
    • 1 medium carrot shredded
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
    • 1 12 ounce can evaporated milk
    • 1 10 3/4 ounce can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
    • 8 ounces velveeta cheese cut in chunks or your favorite cheese.
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • Salt to taste
    • In a microwave safe bowl or saucepan, combine the chicken broth, onion, carrot and broccoli.  Cook in the microwave for 8 minutes stirring after about 4 minutes.  Remove and set aside.

    • In a separate saucepan on low heat melt the butter stir in the flour.  Just like you were making gravy.  Slowly add the milk stirring constantly and the cream of chicken soup.

    • Have your cheese cut in chunks and add to the milk mixture.  Then add the broccoli mixture to this and continue cooking on low heat for 5 to 10 minutes.

    • Makes 8 to 10 cups.

    I don’t ever bring this to a boil, but just cook on low heat.

    Cake Mix Pumpkin Donuts

    • 1 15.25 ounce package Betty Crocker Super Moist Yellow Cake Mix
    • 1 15 ounce can 100% pure pumpkin
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
    • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    Caramel Frosting Ingredients:

    • 3/4 cup brown sugar
    • 4 tablespoons butter
    • 2 tablespoons milk
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 3/4 to 1 cup powdered sugar
    • Pour the pumpkin mix into a large mixing bowl and add the spices.  Stir with a spoon to mix well.  Add yellow cake mix and stir until all ingredients are wet.  Spray a donut pan with cooking spray.  My pan makes 12 medium sized donuts.

    • Spoon the mixture into the donut pan or could use a piping bag.  I just used a spoon.  I filled each cup almost full.  Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for about 12 minutes.

    • Remove from oven and let cool in donut pan for 10 minutes before removing.  This made 18 donuts for me.  Add frosting.

    Caramel Frosting Instructions:

    • Combine brown sugar, butter and milk in a saucepan on top of the stove until melted and starts to boil.  Remove and add vanilla extract and powdered sugar.  Stir well.  Drizzle or pour over cooled donuts.

    If frosting gets too thick just add more milk.  If too thin add more powdered sugar.

  • The Best Stand Mixers for Every Kind of Cook

    “Fits-anywhere kitchenware” is the tagline of this 2024-launched appliance brand known for space savers like a 3.5-inch-wide toaster and cookware sets with removable handles. Like many other Bella appliances, the Hand & Stand mixer is a two-in-one: Use it like a regular hand mixer with either the included beater or dough hook attachments, or snap it into a nested, lidded bowl that rotates as you blend, turning it into a stand mixer. (The motor is 200 watts; about 75 less than a KitchenAid head-tilt model.) You add ingredients through a clear slider window on the top, which is removable for use as a bench scraper.

    The hand mixer and its accessories fit in the bowls with the lid on, for stacking. I wasn’t especially impressed when using the Bella in hand mixer mode—the chunky, boxy handle eventually caused my hand to cramp when making whipped cream. And as a stand mixer, it left plenty of unmixed flour around the sides of the bowl when I made an angel food cake. Where it did excel beyond expectations, however, was in shredding meat. I often shred cooked chicken, pork, turkey, and beef with a hand mixer, and no matter how large the bowl or how careful I am, meat juice and shreds always manage to fly out. With a bowl that’s not only enclosed but that rotates, the Bella made short work of my tests with both chicken breasts and thighs.

    If you shred a lot of meat, this is so efficient it’s worth buying for that task alone, but I can also see buying this for a young person just starting out who doesn’t have much space and doesn’t plan on making anything especially elaborate. In addition to the pictured Surf color, it also comes in Seaglass, Blossom, Plum, and Oatmilk. —Kat Merck

    Hamburger Potato Soup

    This Hamburger Potato Soup is wonderful comfort food! Great to enjoy with family and friends.

    Cuisine American, southern

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 cup chopped green onion or 1 medium onion
    • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
    • 1 cup chopped or sliced carrots
    • 1/2 cup frozen corn
    • 1 cup chopped fresh spinach
    • 2 14.5 ounce cans beef broth
    • 3 to 4 medium potatoes peeled and cut up
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons dried basil
    • 3 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
    • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    • 1 cup milk
    • 2 teaspoons cornstarch optional, used to thicken soup only
    • Brown the hamburger, onions and minced garlic in a skillet on top of the stove. Remove, drain and put in soup pot or crock pot.  Add remaining ingredients to soup pot or crock pot and if cooking on top of the stove, cook until potatoes and carrots are soft.

    • Cook in crock pot for 6 hours on low or 4 hours on high. 

    • Once cooked, garnish with cheddar cheese.

    If you want the soup thicker, whisk the cornstarch into the milk before adding to pot.
    Garnish with shredded cheddar cheese.

  • CROCK POT COWBOY CASSEROLE

    If you love hearty dishes that are super simple to make, this Cowboy Casserole is the one for you!

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    You will find many different versions of this casserole online, and this is our favorite way to make it. We skipped the creamed soups and added tomatoes and green chilis, and it was a big hit! This is a super versatile dish and is great for cold weather or a day of tailgating. We suggest making our fried cornbread to go with it, as that is the perfect combination.

    SWAPS & ADDITIONS

    You could easily switch the ground beef for ground turkey, ground chicken or Italian sausage. Not a fan of kidney beans, simply use another kind or leave them out. Like spicy food, add more hot sauce. This is such a versatile recipe!

    We put the potatoes on the bottom so they will be closest to the heat and cook faster. Also this dish has liquid because we love to dip cornbread in it. If you would like less liquid, drain the tomatoes and possibly skip the broth, but you may need to add a little so it doesnt stick.

    This Crock Pot Cowboy Casserole is hearty and delicious! One your family will love and you will make over and over again.

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 cup chopped onion
    • 1/2 cup chopped green red or yellow sweet pepper
    • 3 to 4 red potatoes unpeeled and cut in bit-sized pieces
    • 1 1/2 cups corn frozen or fresh
    • 1 14.5 ounce can kidney beans, drained
    • 1 10 ounce can diced tomatoes with green chilies, do not drain
    • 1 14.5 ounce can diced tomatoes, do not drain
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
    • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • Pinch cayenne or few drops hot sauce
    • 1/2 cup water or beef or chicken broth
    • 1/2 to 1 cup shredded cheese I use Taco blend but you can use whatever you like
    • Brown ground beef, onions and peppers in a skillet on top of the stove, drain.

    • Place the potatoes in the bottom of a 3 1/2 quart crock pot and sprinkle corn on top. Add the browned hamburger with onions and peppers on top of the corn along with the kidney beans.

    • In a bowl combine both cans of diced tomatoes along with the 1/2 cup water or broth. Stir in the black pepper, salt, garlic, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce and cayenne or hot sauce. Mix well and pour over the contents of the crock pot.

    • Cook on high for 4 hours or low for six hours or until potatoes are done. Once the casserole is finished cooking, sprinkle on shredded cheese, put the top on the crock pot and let it melt.

    This recipe is a little soupy, which we like because we love to have it with cornbread. If you want less liquid, drain the tomatoes and possibly leave the broth out. You may need to add a little liquid so the potatoes don’t stick. 
    We place the potatoes on the bottom so they will cook quicker and then once cooked, you can stir it all up.

    What Should You Look for in a Grill?

    Take a trip to your local big-box home improvement store and you’ll see dozens of grill models not mentioned here. Are they any good? Most of them are probably fine, but we suggest sticking with brands you recognize.

    The nice thing about shopping in person is you can get a better sense of the grill’s sturdiness. Give it a good shake, and make sure it seems well put together. If it’s a brand you haven’t heard of before, check the aisles nearby and see whether there are replacement parts available. This is especially important with gas, but it can be an issue with any type of grill. The burners on gas grills don’t last more than a few years, but they’re easy to replace—if you can get the parts.

    Other things to look for include a good temperature range (the dials turn smoothly and are big enough that you won’t be fiddling with them to find the midpoint between low and high). While it may be tempting to go for the biggest grill you can afford, that isn’t always the smart choice. There’s no need to heat 660 square inches of the grill to cook two burgers. All that does is waste fuel. Finally, avoid anything that says infrared. Our experience is that infrared doesn’t sear anything better than regular flames. All it does is add a useless feature that ups the price.

    It’s also worth considering the warranty. Grills often live a hard life, being stored outdoors in the rain, sleet, snow, and baking heat. I’ve seen covers reduced to shreds in a year (they’re still worth the investment—better the cover than your grill). A warranty won’t cover normal wear and tear, but more reputable companies like Weber offer warranties for anywhere from five to 15 years (depending on the grill). Look for something similar when shopping the big box store grills.

    What Grilling Accessories Do I Need?

    Here are a few things that will make your grilling life easier.

    • A good cover: Which one you need depends on your grill, but a cover is worth the investment. Even if your grill isn’t exposed directly to the rain, it’s still going to get wet from dew and will eventually rust. A good cover can keep the worst of the rust at bay and will offer you many additional years of use.
    • Instant-read thermometer: After the actual cooker, nothing will improve your grilling like an instant-read thermometer. Stick it in and know your food’s internal temp instantly. For newbies, this cheap thermometer ($20) will work. The gold standard is the ThermoWorks Thermapen Mk4 ($109). It is not cheap, but its automatic backlight and rotating display are nice to have. The feature I’ve come to appreciate the most is that it automatically shuts off when not in use and turns back on the minute you extend the probe. (It’s powered by one AAA battery.)
    • A good cleaning tool: We don’t recommend using a grill brush. A stainless steel or brass wire brush can leave behind small bristles that get stuck in your grill and end up in your food. It happens more often than you think. Most grill makers don’t recommend these wire scrapers anyway. If you have cast-iron grates, I like Proud Grill’s Q Cleaner ($19), which combines a wire-free scrubber, stainless steel scraper, and disposable wipes to clean your grill without leaving your brush a mess.
    • A charcoal chimney: For charcoal grills, get a chimney starter—I like this Weber ($25), but anything similar will do. It’s faster and it saves your food from tasting like lighter fluid fumes. I have tested a charcoal chimney against our top-pick Weber gas grill and found that the gas was ready seven minutes faster, which is to say, not much.
    • Use high-quality charcoal: You don’t need artisanal briquettes handcrafted by elves, but don’t buy the super cheap stuff. In my testing it doesn’t burn as hot or last as long. Almost all the charcoal grill testing I’ve done has been using Kingsford briquettes.
    • Try lump charcoal: I’ve had good luck with Jealous Devil All Natural Hardwood Lump Charcoal. If you’re doing high-heat cooking or want to have higher indirect heat, lump charcoal is a good choice. It burns much hotter and faster. I prefer lump for searing, but I don’t like it for smoking or slower cooking. If you’re worried about additives, lump usually doesn’t have any. —Scott Gilbertson

    Masterbuilt Gravity Series 800 for $899: This spacious Masterbuilt offers a nice combination, noted WIRED reviewer Chris Smith: charcoal flavor with the temperature precision of gas or electricity. The large, top-loading charcoal hopper uses gravity (hence the name) to feed heat into an internal housing, and an integrated fan enables precise digital temperature control—on the device or via the app. You’ll reach 700 degrees Fahrenheit within 15 minutes. Temperatures are remarkably consistent once stabilized, and if you want to add smoke flavor, just throw wood chunks into the ash bin and let falling charcoal embers do the rest. But the versatility comes with caveats. You may miss the ability to sear directly over a flame, and you’ll need to change out the internal housing before switching to the flat-top grill.

    Yoder YS640S Pellet Smoker for $2,600: Most grills do one thing well and several other things poorly or not at all. Yoder’s YS640S is a more versatile tool, thanks to a design that allows easy access to the autofeed firebox. Like Traegers that are half the price, this Kansas-made grill uses an electric fan and an auger to feed wood pellets in for a slow smoke session. It’s all driven by a control board that sends temp alerts and allows you to adjust the temperature via Wi-Fi.As a smoker, it easily handled ribs and a chuck roast, holding the temperature better than most, thanks to its bomb-proof 10-gauge steel construction, which means this grill weighs as much as a refrigerator. Where the Yoder really stands out, though, is as a grill and possible pizza oven. By removing a steel plate positioned over the fire pit, you can sear burgers directly over the flame or remove the grills and plop on a hefty pizza oven attachment ($489), which uses the pellet feed system to maintain a constant 900-plus degrees Fahrenheit.

    Nomad Portable Grill for $695: The suitcase-style Nomad Portable Grill sells for a price that makes it a luxury. But if you have money to spare, this is the best portable grill you can buy. It’s well built, sturdy, and easy to carry. It is heavier than our top pick Jumbo Joe at 28 pounds, but the shape and large handle actually make it easier to carry. Like the Jumbo Joe, the Nomad uses a dual venting system to achieve good airflow even when the lid is closed. The vents, combined with the raised fins on the bottom of the grill (which elevate your charcoal, allowing air to flow under it), allow for very precise control of both high and low temperatures.

    Kamado Joe Konnected Joe for $2,000: There’s a lot to like about this kamado-style grill. Indeed, we previously recommended it for its electric ignition and Wi-Fi connectivity that allows you to measure the temperature of the interior and the meat via two probes. But over long-term use, WIRED reviewer Martin Cizmar has had constant problems with the electric grill tripping the 2-year-old GFCI outlets on his patio. Once it even tripped the breaker. A Reddit thread reveals this is a common problem. Like the Redditors, Cizmar found temporary relief by running an extension cord into an outlet in his kitchen, but even that has failed him a few times during testing. Unfortunately, this grill is a hard pass until the issue is resolved.

    • 1 pound ground beef or you could use Italian sausage
    • 2 cups uncooked rotini pasta cooked
    • 1 cup chopped green onion or regular onion
    • 1 cup chopped green pepper
    • 1 (14.5 ounccan diced tomatoes undrained
    • 1 (8 ounccan tomato sauce
    • 1 (4 ounccan sliced mushrooms drained
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon dried basil or could use fresh
    • 1 (8 ouncpackage cream cheese softened
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • Cook pasta according to package directions, drain and set aside. Brown ground beef, onions and green pepper in skillet on top of the stove and drain if needed. Add diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, sliced mushrooms, garlic powder, Italian seasoning and basil to skillet and heat for about 10 minutes.

    • Spread pasta in the bottom of a large casserole dish. Cover with hamburger mixture. Combine softened cream cheese and sour cream by mixing together with a spoon and then spread over top of hamburger in casserole. Sprinkle on cheese. Bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

    • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
    • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 cup nut pieces walnuts or pecans, (optional)
    • Dump the milk and chocolate chips into a microwave safe glass bowl. Microwave 1 minute and 30 seconds. Remove and stir until smooth. Add vanilla extract and nuts. Mix well and pour into a sprayed 9 x 9 dish. Refrigerate 1 to 2 hours. Cut into squares. Makes about 24 pieces depending on size you cut your squares

    I have tried this with fat free condensed milk and it does not get as hard as the whole condensed milk but could not tell much difference in the taste.
