  • J.Lo Wore the Chic Outerwear Trend I’m Seconds From Buying for $120 on Amazon

J.Lo Wore the Chic Outerwear Trend I’m Seconds From Buying for $120 on Amazon

    [ad_1]

There are certain wardrobe items that simply pull more weight than others. A great handbag, standout boots, or an eye-catching piece of outerwear has the power to transform even the most boring outfit into something truly special. And no one knows that more than Jennifer Lopez, who spent a day over the weekend with her husband, Ben Affleck, and their kids wearing a simple jeans and T-shirt combination that was made noteworthy thanks to an extraordinary faux-fur jacket.

Specifically, Lopez’s top layer was a mohair-blend cardigan-coat from the luxury Italian fashion house Brunello Cucinelli. But since her exact pick is neither available nor affordable for many, I went on a hunt to find an alternative that is. That’s when I stumbled upon an equally boho-chic jacket from the NYC-based denim brand BlankNYC on Amazon that just so happens to be marked down from $148 to $120.

Both Lopez’s jacket and my Amazon alt fall under a ’70s-era outerwear trend that’s making a major comeback right now: shaggy faux-fur coats. From styles made entirely of the fuzzy fabric to pared-down versions that are only lined with it (think Penny Lane’s in Almost Famous), shop the J.Lo-approved style below.

  • Kate Middleton Just Wore the Most Gorgeous Camel Coat From Zara’s Sister Brand

Kate Middleton Just Wore the Most Gorgeous Camel Coat From Zara’s Sister Brand

    [ad_1]

Kate Middleton has a knack for finding incredible pieces, be it a Zara blazer or an Alexander McQueen coat dress, and styling them in new ways again and again. But of all the items she wears on repeat, it’s her coat collection that I find especially impressive.

The Princess of Wales’s latest outerwear sighting arrived earlier this week when she visited a nursery in Luton, England as part of her work helping with children’s development in the UK. For the occasion, she wore an orange turtleneck-and-skirt set from Gabriela Hearst, topped with a tailored camel coat from Zara’s luxury big-sister brand Massimo Dutti that, according to the blog Kate Middleton Style, she’s worn a total of five times in the last three years. Middleton polished off the classic look by adding chocolate-brown, suede boots from Gianvito Rossi, a matching Stuart Weitzman clutch, and a croc-effect belt by Ralph Lauren Polo. Though altogether stunning, her recycled Massimo Dutti coat was the clear winner of the ensemble.

Given its long tenure in the Princess’s wardrobe, her exact coat from the Spanish brand is no longer available. A slightly drapier alt for the camel style, however, is. Shop it and more timeless and chic camel coats below.

Priyanka Chopra Wore the Style Trick Kate Middleton and All Royals Swear By

    [ad_1]

The Royal family has its fair share of secrets, but their photo-ready styling tricks have never been one of them. Taking cues from both Kate and Meghan, who love neutral hues like beige, brown, and camel, actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas was the latest star to demonstrate how easy—and elegant—it is to pull off the monochrome often worn by members of the royal family to highly-photographed events.

Clad head to toe in an ensemble from Michael Kors’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, Chopra looked lovely while stepping out for an evening in, where else, but London.

Now that camel-chrome is officially  Chopra Jonas, Middleton, and Markel-approved, it’s time to put this sartorial trick to the test. Ahead, shop Chopra Jonas’s Michael Kores ensemble, plus a plethora of camel-colored coats, dresses, and boots at a variety of price points.

I Lived In New York For 10 Years—These Winter Coats Always Stay In My Closet

    [ad_1]

Arguably New Yorkers are some of the most qualified people to weigh in on winter staples. After living in the city for close to 10 years, I’ve seen it all from bone-chilling polar vortexes to extreme arctic blasts. In short, the winters are no joke, so I learned quickly that good outerwear is one of the best investments. Fast forward years later and I haven’t really had to update my coat collection since—all the more reason to go for one that you’ll still think is stylish in 10 years.

Ahead, I’ve nailed down the five outerwear styles that have been my ride-or-die staples while living in New York. Not only are they practical, but I firmly believe they are immune to trends which means it’s worth it to splurge a little more here. From puffers to pea coats, scroll below to see which styles made the cut.

  • You Can Have Too Many Black Coats—30 Vibrant Coats That Are The Solution

You Can Have Too Many Black Coats—30 Vibrant Coats That Are The Solution

    [ad_1]

No one will debate that a black coat is essential. It’s a major building block of a well-thought-out wardrobe, is undeniably timeless, and almost any editor worth their weight in Manolo Blahniks will advise owning at least two. But there definitely is a limit. Just like how the same desk salad becomes lackluster after a few months, wearing a black coat 24/7 also loses its flair. That’s where a more vibrant alternative comes in.

High-impact color has made its rounds as a major trend over the past few seasons, and it isn’t letting up within the coat arena either. From players like Loewe and Valentino, all the way to The Row (a brand that famously touts neutral tones), bright statement outerwear has emerged as one of the foremost winter trends of the moment. But even after the fanfare dies down, a strong coat in a pretty color hardly ever goes out of style. There’s really no con to experimenting with a fun winter coat (even if you’re fervently pro-neutral). In case you were wondering where to start, any of the fashion person-approved toppers below won’t let you down. Keep scrolling to see and shop them all.

  • The “Basic” Winter-Coat Trend People in NYC and Paris Are Known For

The “Basic” Winter-Coat Trend People in NYC and Paris Are Known For

    [ad_1]

For anyone who resides in a colder region, there comes a point in the winter when you hit a wall with clothing. It’s not that you no longer care, but it can become tiring to choose between having a chic winter look or being warm. Every morning can feel like a drawn-out battle between wearing practical pieces or something pretty that you know you’ll freeze in. But what if I told you that you didn’t have to choose? There is, in fact, one winter staple that can solve all your woes: a wool coat.

While no one can legitimately argue a wool coat is a brand-new trend (it is a winter staple, after all), it still has seen an uptick in popularity over the past season. This coat can be spotted everywhere, from the runways to the racks at Nordstrom to the streets of major fashion capitals. However, it’s not the prevalence of this coat that makes it the perfect solution to any wardrobe crux. It’s the coat’s versatility. It’s arguably one of the best pieces you can invest in because it can come in many colors, cuts, and variations, and it can make any outfit look 10 times more luxurious.

To prove that point, I’ve scoured Instagram to find 28 wool-coat outfit ideas from people living in New York, Paris, London, and other cities. Plus, I’ve identified easy outfit formulas that show how to style a wool coat easily. These outfits prove that this “basic” can break you out of your winter funk once and for all.

  • I Can’t Stop Thinking About Allison Williams’s Coats From the M3GAN Press Tour

I Can’t Stop Thinking About Allison Williams’s Coats From the M3GAN Press Tour

    [ad_1]

I know the point of a press tour is for actors to talk up their latest roles, but if I’m being completely honest, the only outcome I came to after seeing Allison Williams leaving press events all over New York City this week is that I want every single one of her many gorgeous coats—period. Since the start of the new year, Williams, who stars in 2023’s already-viral thriller M3GAN, has made appearances on The Today Show, LIVE with Kelly & Ryan, and more to promote the film. And each time she arrives at a studio, barring not one occasion, she’s been clad in a show-stopping piece of outerwear. Oh, and the looks underneath were chic too.

First up there was the black, cashmere Lafayette 148 coat she wore atop a plaid maxi dress from the brand’s Resort ’23 collection that she recycled for an occasion later that day, swapping out the dress for a simple black skirt-and-sweater set and leopard-print Mach & Mach pumps. Mere hours later, the former Girls actress changed into a navy-blue Tory Burch coat and a color-block set from fall/winter 2022. The next day brought an off-the-runway Sportmax look that I can’t do justice with words. Scroll down to see the look and more of Williams’s incredible outerwear from her press tour for M3GAN, which, if you’re up for it, is out now.

Princess Diana’s Fave Ski Jacket Is Still Elite, so I Found a $75 H&M Version

    [ad_1]

Whether or not hitting the ski slopes is in your future, winter temperatures are here for at least a few more months. And aside from the pros, no one did sporty fashion (before athleisure was a thing) better than Princess Diana.

Although she was endlessly photographed in everything from ball gowns to bikinis, it is Diana’s leisure looks that continue to inspire our off-duty style decades later. Case in point: her red puffer jacket. It was simple yet statement-making (you couldn’t miss her on the mountain), and we love this piece not only for its place in one of the world’s most iconic wardrobes but also because it is the epitome of both practical and chic

While Princess Diana’s red ski jacket was likely of the more technical variety—she wore it to exercise, after all—we’ve found 11 similar styles that will suit any winter-weather leisure look from Aspen to the Alps, including a nearly identical $75 option from H&M. Keep scrolling to find your perfect red puffer to wear all winter; no ski boots required.

The Ultimate 2023 Leather Jacket Shopping Guide

    [ad_1]

Let’s play a quick round of Family Feud: Fashion Edition, shall we? If Steve Harvey were to ask, “What’s a quintessential investment piece in every wardrobe?” the top-grossing answer from a stylish pool would likely be a leather jacket

Leather jackets of all iterations dominated the Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 runways, from Khaite to Prada to Saint Laurent. Most fashion folks love their ability to single-handedly punctuate an ensemble, even one as simple as jeans and a T-shirt; as a bonus, the innate ‘idgaf’ attitude they exude is unmatched. As Sandy famously demonstrated when she traded in her girl-next-door persona for a leather motorcycle jacket in “Grease,” the right one can instantly imbue authority, fearlessness and killer sex appeal.

Everyone Agrees These Are the 9 Best Brands for Versatile Outerwear

    [ad_1]

I’m a warm-weather girl. I was born in Southeast Asia, grew up in Texas, and call Los Angeles home. But when Paris beckoned my junior year of college, I answered, bien sur. Shopping for winter wear, I was dazzled by visions of sipping mulled wine as snowflakes settled in my lashes. I picked out a chic double-breasted peacoat that made me feel like Audrey Hepburn and smugly checked “outerwear” off my list.

During the flight, I made plans to rush off to the Eiffel Tower as soon as I landed, bottle of champagne in tow. But the second the doors of Charles de Gaulle swung open, I was assaulted by the coldest, driest wind I’d ever felt, nary a dainty snowflake in sight. My lashes froze together, and it became very clear that my lightweight cashmere coat wasn’t going to cut it. A particularly cold rainy day wandering the Marais later that week confirmed it.

At first I felt defeated. Then, I realized I’d unlocked a whole new category of clothing to enthuse over. A world of puffers and heavy-duty trench coats opened their warm arms out to me. Years later, I’m still somewhat of an outwear aficionado. Even California’s mild winters have me reaching for a coat the second temps drop below 60ºF (okay, 70º if we’re being honest). I’ve scoured the internet for the best coats to keep you looking and feeling both cozy and cute.

I Don’t Mess Around When It Comes to Outerwear—I Love These Jackets and Coats

    [ad_1]

As a New Yorker, I can say that coats are an essential part of my wardrobe. New York is my favorite city, and I love living here, but one thing that didn’t attract me to the Big Apple was the weather. I’m not going to lie—sometimes the winters can be brutal. Walking to the subway can feel like walking miles instead of feet, the sun sets at 4 p.m., and going out sounds less and less appealing. However, there are some magical things that NYC has to offer to pick up our spirits, for instance, ice skating with friends in Central Park, having happy hours in cozy wine bars, holiday parties, the lights and decorations that make you feel like an extra in holiday rom-com on your walk to get coffee.

So it’s not all bad. But bundling up is still a must, and there are so many options out there when it comes to buying a new coat. Do you go with a double-breasted wool coat or a classic puffer? Are you into a bold, statement winter jacket, or are you more of a neutral-outwear person? Whatever you’re looking for, I’ve rounded up 30 jackets that are so good I almost didn’t want to share.

  • I Have Proof: This Type of Coat Makes You Look Rich

I Have Proof: This Type of Coat Makes You Look Rich

    [ad_1]

Mark our words: This season, it’s all about long coats. Specifically, long coats fashioned in a blazer or tuxedo-like style. While a good coat should serve many functions, its ability to elevate an outfit should undoubtedly be a top priority. Hearkening back to the days of ’90s minimalism, details like slit pockets with flaps, a sharp collar, or double breast and as much length as possible are key. This style tends to be more fitted as well, a stark contrast to the more oversize, menswear-inspired coats we’ve seen in years past.

What’s more? A maxi tuxedo or blazer coat naturally has an air of sophistication, i.e., it looks expensive regardless if it actually is or not. The column silhouette is especially flattering, too, so even if the tux route isn’t your style, finding a to-the-floor option will still do you well. Keep scrolling for our top long-coat picks and rest assured that you’ll be covered as far as outerwear goes all winter long.

My Friend Has $500 to Splurge on a Winter Coat—I Told Her to Check Out These 28

    [ad_1]

As the world’s biggest proponent of curating an investment wardrobe, the number one tip I tell most of my friends is to buy a coat first.

By all accounts, coats can be one of the most expensive things in someone’s wardrobe. The materials and construction add up—from feather-filled puffers and ethically-sourced wool. Not only will a good, expensive coat keep you warm, but it’s also a fashion statement in itself. With what feels like an endless amount of colors, fabrics, and materials to try, there’s outwear for every occasion.

From one native Floridian to another, I always tell my friends who have come to visit during the icy NYC winters that it’s the perfect time to snatch up a coat ahead of their trip. Thankfully, as the bona fide fashion friend, they listen to my advice. Below are 28 coats I actually sent to a friend who was looking for something she described as “chic and sophisticated, like a rich Upper East Side mom.” Consider me obsessed with these finds.

The 4 Things to Consider When Buying a Winter Coat, According to Experts

    [ad_1]

Buying a winter coat is deceptively hard. A jacket may look snuggly and warm, but it could leave you freezing as soon as a chilly wind whips your way. Or it may fit beautifully — until you throw on your favorite hoodie, and suddenly you have no room to button up the front. Still, it’s an essential that fuses function with technology and style.

“Your coat is kind of the first thing anyone sees on your body. At the same time, it’s an investment piece because, usually, coats — at whatever price point and whatever look — are the priciest piece on your body,” says KZ_K Studio Co-Founder and Creative Director Karolina Zmarlak. Her New York City-based brand is luxury ready-to-wear with a focus on multipurpose garments and technical materials.
