6 Cult-Gaia Bags That Have a Grip on The Fashion Girlies

Have you ever wondered, “Is this really worth the hype?” In the age of social media, it can be easy to get caught up in the buzz surrounding viral trends or rising labels. Sometimes, you need an external gut check that can tell you if that handbag is worth securing—luckily, you have us. As editors, we pride ourselves on being able to shift through the noise of the digital landscape to give you an honest run-down of what really matters. Of course, that’s not to say our work doesn’t come without challenges, as so much of what’s deemed “valuable” in fashion these days seems directly correlated to a brand’s popularity rather than what they bring to the table. However, there is one brand that, in our mind, brings receipts to back up the hype: Cult Gaia.

On any given day, you can scroll through social media and see enormous excitement surrounding this brand’s ready-to-wear collections. But what makes this brand worth shopping isn’t the buzz…it’s the bags. Ultimately, the accessories are what cemented the brand’s cult status (excuse the pun). So, when shopping this highly sought-after brand, there’s no better place to start. But, for the bag fanatics (like myself), choosing just one purse to buy is akin to a mother picking her favorite child. In an effort to help you narrow down your shopping list, we’ve done hours of research to identify the best Cult Gaia bags. Considering popularity, quality, price point, versatility, wearability, longevity, silhouttes, and uniqueness as a metric, we narrowed the list down to six styles that make for great long-term investments. If you thought that this brand was all hype, these bags will prove otherwise.

  • J.Lo Just Wore the Bag Trend You Might Hate If Your Favorite Style Is Crossbody

J.Lo Just Wore the Bag Trend You Might Hate If Your Favorite Style Is Crossbody

    [ad_1]

When you’re Jennifer Lopez and you have people to open doors and carry umbrellas for you everywhere you go, having a hands-free bag probably isn’t a huge priority. So it wasn’t all that surprising when she stepped out with a certain bag trend while out in New York this week while promoting her new film, The Mother. The bag trend in question is an oversize clutch, which is basically the worst nightmare of someone who strongly prefers easy crossbody bags. But what this J.Lo-approved bag trend is lacking in convenience, it makes up for in chicness.

Not since Daniel Lee made unstructured clutches a thing during his early days at Bottega Veneta have they been so popular. But after they were seen all over the spring and fall runways and in oversize silhouettes no less, they’ve taken off again. Lopez’s clutch is by Max Mara, and it comes in at an impressive 14.5 inches across. Carrying a strapless bag of that size around all day may not be for the faint of heart, but there’s no denying that it looks cool and forward.

Scroll to shop chic oversize clutches if you’re on board with the polarizing trend.

If you’re ever wondering what the next It item is, just scroll through a few recent Rihanna outfits. Without fail, the singer-turned-beauty-entrepreneur always seems to wear the pieces that are seconds away from a viral takeover, whether it’s a Loewe rugby shirt or a Miu Miu crystal two-piece. For proof, just look at one of her most recent ensembles, an all-red, skin-tight Alaïa combo that she wore to go out in New York City with A$AP Rocky following their recent rendezvous in Paris together. But while the color of the look is certainly having a moment RN, that wasn’t the most of-the-times aspect of the outfit.

Instead, it was the matching red clutch Rihanna carried that we should really take note of. The Gucci bag features the Italian house’s signature logo print as well as an oversize Horsebit clasp. The style is vintage from Tom Ford’s time as Gucci’s creative director in the 1990s and early 2000s, though it was recently remastered by the brand for its fall/winter 2023 collection. No, unfortunately, the new version isn’t out yet. However, the secondhand market is packed with vintage styles from its original heyday. Below, see Rihanna’s date-night look and shop the Gucci bag that’s about to blow up.

  • Say Buh-Bye to the Mini Bag and Hello to the New Go-To

Say Buh-Bye to the Mini Bag and Hello to the New Go-To

    [ad_1]

If you were to read any of the text chains between my friends and me, it would be abundantly clear how often we discuss one of the most impractical trends of the century: mini bags. While some handbags have been popular for a long time, it is only within the past few years that the mini-bag trend has risen in prominence. This is due in part to Instagram-favorite designers like Jacquemus helping to usher the trend into viral territory. My mini-bag ramblings have yet to dissipate, but I must admit that I’m relieved to see a new, more practical purse is on the horizon. Please welcome back the timeless clutch bag.

Clutch bags first emerged in the 1920s to address the needs of consumers who, in lieu of a more practical, traditional carryall, were craving small, stylish bags that would complement specific looks. It’s true that, like mini bags, clutches can be a fussier choice since, by definition, these bags are handheld. But that doesn’t mean they’re not practical. Some of the best clutch bags actually can hold more than a Tic Tac, cost less than a fortune, and—dare I say—give pockets a run for their money. Don’t believe me? Ahead, I’ve rounded up the 45 best clutch bags in every shape and at every price point.
