Cass County Prosecutor Noah Schafer announced that Aedan Titus, 17, pled guilty to aggravated battery, admitting his role in a shooting that occurred on October 1, 2024.

Titus was charged as an adult, as were codefendants Christopher Zarate, 23, and Edward Cook, 20, who allegedly also participated in the confrontation that led to the shooting.

During the plea hearing, Titus admitted that during the early morning hours of October 1, Titus, Zarate and Cook were drinking at the home of Cook’s mother in Logansport.

Photographs forensically extracted from Titus’ cell phone by police during the investigation show the three named individuals on that date and time, and photos and video from that phone show Aedan Titus holding and pointing a Taurus revolver. The metadata from those photos and videos show they were taken on the early morning hours of October 1, 2024.

Titus, Cook and Zarate left the Cook residence and eventually travelled to S. Pennsylvania Avenue by foot, walking by several security cameras of businesses and residences, which recorded their passing. They went to confront a juvenile who lived on Pennsylvania Avenue regarding a dispute over a girl.

Upon approaching the door, Titus had the firearm in his possession, according to the prosecutor. The mother of the intended target answered the door. She yelled at the three of them and indicated she would call the police, which she started to do. As she was on the phone, Aedan Titus fired the same revolver shown in the cell phone videos taken earlier that morning three times at the victim, striking her in the leg. This injury caused protracted impairment of the function of her leg, as she was hospitalized for several days.

During various recorded phone calls made during his incarceration since the shooting, Aedan Titus admitted his presence at Pennsylvania Avenue on Oct. 1, and admitted that he “crashed out” and shot the victim, according to the prosecutor.

Titus is scheduled to be sentenced in Cass Circuit Court on October 9, 2025.

Zarate and Cook are scheduled for a jury trial on November 17, 2025. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
