  • Jane Goodall Dies at 91: Pioneering Scientist & Conservation Icon

The beloved environmental leader, whose groundbreaking research with chimpanzees grew into a global movement for conservation, was scheduled to speak to more than 1,000 students in Pasadena before her passing

The world has lost one of the most iconic voices for science and the environment.

Dr. Jane Goodall, the influential primatologist and activist whose work changed our understanding of chimpanzees and us as humans, passed away at the age of 91 while on her tour in California due to natural causes..

Her passing marks the end of her extraordinary journey. Yet it also carries deep impact. Goodall spent her final days doing what she has done for more than six decades – traveling the globe, sharing her message, and inspiring the next generation to act. She was scheduled to appear in Pasadena this week for more than 1,000 students from schools across Los Angeles.

    The Scientist Who Redefined Humanity

In 1960, young Jane Goodall traveled all the way to Tanzania to study wild chimpanzees. At the time, she had little scientific knowledge. She was just a young woman with a notebook, a pair of binoculars, and a passion for what she does.

What she discovered amazed the world.

She discovered chimpanzees using sticks to dig termites out of the ground, as well as hugging one another to show affection, and even fighting in ways that looked oddly familiar to humans. These observations proved that humans were not the only species capable of making tools, showing affection, or getting into conflict.

Her work did not just change science textbooks – it changed the way people thought about animals, and about ourselves. Goodall showed that the line between humans and other species wasn’t as defined as we once believed it to be.

    From Scientist to Global Advocate

Goodall’s adventures in the forests of Africa were only the start of her journey.

She soon realized that to protect chimpanzees meant protecting their habitats and bringing awareness to the world about the threats they face.

In 1977, she founded the Jane Goodall Institute to continue her work with chimpanzees and to teach the world about her work and why it is important. A few years later, she launched Roots and Shoots, a youth program that has since spread to more than 60 countries around the globe. Their mission there was simple – give young people the tools they need to improve their communities and protect the planet.

Over the years, she became an important activist as much as she was a scientist. She traveled to lecture halls, conferences, and even classrooms to urge people to rethink the way they move through life. She encouraged people to think differently about the way they eat, shop and treat the world.

In 2002, she was named a UN Messenger of Peace, a role that gave her an even bigger platform to share her messages of hope for the future.

    A Cultural Icon

Goodall was also more than just a researcher and activist. She became a cultural figure recognized around the world. She appeared in documentaries, wrote more than two dozen books, and inspired many films. Her soft voice, gentle mannerisms, and quiet determination stood out in our noisy world.

She never lectured with anger, but rather appealed to the people’s sense of compassion and responsibility. That approach made her one of the most respected and admired influential figures of her time.

A Local Chapter in Her Global Mission

Her devotion to young minds was clear even in her final days. Just before her death, Goodall was planning an upcoming visit to EF Academy in Pasadena. The event, called TREEAMS (trees and dreams), was planned as a ceremony with more than 1,000 students from across Los Angeles. Together, they were set to launch a student-led movement to plant 5,000 trees in Los Angeles over the next several years.

Goodall was scheduled to deliver the keynote speech, answer questions from students, and take part in the tree planting ceremony. It was the kind of event she loved the most – a chance to inspire kids to care for the planet and believe in themselves and their ability to change it.

Although she never made it to Pasadena, the project itself now feels like a fitting tribute to her. The students will go and plant trees, carrying forward the very work she has dedicated her whole life to.

    Her Long Lasting Legacy

Goodall’s death on tour feels symbolic of her character. She never stopped moving, never stopped educating audiences both big and small, and never stopped working for the furniture she believed in. She often said that “every individual matters, every individual has a role to play, every individual makes a difference.”

That belief defined her life. From the forests of Tanzania to classrooms in Los Angeles, she carries the same message with her. We are all a part of nature, not separate from it, so it is our duty to care for it.

Her loss leaves a hole in our world, but her life’s work remains a blueprint for what comes next.

She has inspired generations of people, from scientists, activists, students and everyday people who are now the ones who must continue her legacy. In every tree planted, every child who looks at the world with curiosity and compassion, Goodall’s spirit lives on within them.

She showed us what is possible in this world when kindness and courage guide us. And even in death, her voice continues to echo, asking us all to protect the planet we share.

We’re starting off strong with what we think was one of the biggest celebrity breakups of 2014. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, who were married for over 10 years and have two children together, announced their “conscious uncoupling” in March.

After their separation, Chris Martin briefly dated actress Jennifer Lawrence, while Gwyneth has been romantically linked to Glee producer Brad Falchuk since August. Their ability to maintain a friendly relationship post-divorce has been noted by many, showcasing their commitment to co-parenting and mutual respect. This was the biggest celebrity breakup of 2014.

Turns out the odds weren’t in Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult’s favour. The pair began dating in 2011 after meeting on the set of X-Men: First Class. Their romance faced ups and downs, briefly splitting in 2013 before reuniting both off- and onscreen in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ultimately, their five-year relationship came to an end in August 2014.

In November 2015, Lawrence revealed that she felt lost after ending her romance with Hoult, coinciding with the filming of the last Hunger Games movie.

Katy Perry and John Mayer officially ended their on-again, off-again romance in February after dating for two tumultuous years. According to a sources at the time, the breakup was influenced by Perry’s stress over her upcoming tour. The insider shared, “She’s stressed about the tour. They’ve been fighting. It is probably for the best, because she is going to be on tour for forever. Of course, this happens all the time; I can’t keep track anymore. But for now, they are done.”

Their relationship had its highs and lows, with intense chemistry and public displays of affection contrasting with periods of tension and separation. Fans and the media were always speculating about what would happen next in their whirlwind romance amidst their busy music careers.

    Britney Spears and David Lucado

We’re still obsessed with all things Britney Spears, and back in 2014, the pop star was front and centre in the spotlight for her breakup with David Lucado. The duo began dating in March 2013 — just two months after the singer and Jason Trawick mutually ended their engagement.

Britney announced their split with a cryptic tweet in August, saying, “Ahhh the single life!”

Shortly after, during one of her Piece of Me concerts, she candidly addressed rumours of David’s infidelity, telling the audience, “So I know you know my boyfriend cheated on me,” adding, “But the best thing about being cheated on is I get to go on more first dates.”

    Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks

In September, Jason Derulo and Jordin Sparks shocked fans by ending their nearly three-year romance. Known for their adorable public appearances and musical collaborations, the couple seemed inseparable. Jason even wrote the hit song “Marry Me” for Jordin, fuelling engagement rumours. Sources close to them revealed the breakup was mutual, stating they “still care very deeply for each other and will remain friends”.

    Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy

In early December of 2014, Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy called off their engagement. Kate’s rep revealed, “Kate and Matt have been separated for some time now. Despite this, they remain very close friends and committed co-parents.” Shortly after, the Muse frontman tweeted, “We’re both very happy, it’s for the best. Thanks for your kind words. Now about that new album.”

The couple, who began dating in 2010 and got engaged in April 2011, welcomed their son, Bingham, in July of the same year.

    Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose

The split between Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose rocked Hollywood in September. After only a year of marriage, Amber filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for full legal custody of their 1-year-old son, Sebastian. Their breakup caught everyone off guard, especially considering their public displays of affection and seeming happiness together. Fans and media speculated about the reasons behind their sudden and unexpected separation.

    Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart

Back in 2014, Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart made headlines when they decided to part ways after over two years together. The media buzzed with rumours of infidelity, but sources close to J.Lo quickly dismissed these claims.

Despite their breakup, Lopez and Smart maintained a good relationship and frequently appeared together as “great friends” after their split. They briefly revived their romance in 2015, but their renewed relationship was short-lived, underscoring their bond. Just over a year after getting back together, they ended things once more, leaving fans and the media speculating about the future of their relationship.

    Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon

In August, rumours started swirling that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon’s marriage was in trouble, with sources disclosing that the couple had been “living apart” for some time and their relationship had been rocky. Shortly after, Nick confirmed the split, admitting, “There is trouble in paradise. We have been living in separate houses for a few months.”

Mariah and Nick tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2008, just weeks after they began dating. Their marriage produced two children, 3-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe, despite the challenges they faced in their relationship.

  • MOON MUSiC? We Eclipse You By Assigning Coldplay Songs To The Moon Cycle

MOON MUSiC? We Eclipse You By Assigning Coldplay Songs To The Moon Cycle

    [ad_1]

A cheesy pun is incoming in 2… 1… 0 (and no, we’re not just replaying grainy footage of the first moon landing, which will make sense in a lunar second), but every time we hear a new Coldplay-coined guitar riff, it genuinely ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove.’ At least, that’s the sensation we’re thinking washed over Budapest’s Puskás Aréna when the soul-hypnotizing British rock band crooned those adoring lyrics for a sold-out crowd. While the picturesque view of purple and blue planets surrounded the vicinity, the starry night sky held their backup singer. And yes, now we’re full-mooning it back to the celestial satellite. The single is off their upcoming album, MOON MUSiC, which comes out four months from now on October 4.

We’re already collecting moon photos in every shade of the rainbow captured on the screen behind the boys because we’re over the moon for this announcement! But we’re not done with the moon puns yet. No, there’s so much to explore, especially the cycle itself. Do you know there are eight stages? Of course you did. You’re already nodding your heads, annotating notes to that library of photos, waiting to see which song off the new album correlates to your moon magic and harnessing its powers to cast some manifestation! But for now, we’re following the theme by matching songs from their discography with each phase.

    New Moon

With its sparkling melody as soothing as the tumbling of waves seen in its lyric visualizer, ‘Hypnotised’ perfectly sums up the new beginnings that the New Moon serves us! How can it not be with lines like “Need a brand new coat of paint?” Circling us back to our ever-growing gallery of kaleidoscopic moon photos. There’s also a poetic touch in the closing couplet: “It was dark / Now it’s sunrise.” Don’t stray from us; MOON MUSiC matches our night owl energy. But its imagery supports the yin-yang, the unfolding of one contrast to the other. So, in this context, it’s the start of a new cycle.

    Waxing Crescent

Oceanic blue turtles spin mid-air to tumble into the subway, and 50s glamour girls with leis decorating their necks as they stand on a coastal galaxy are all things that occur when we’re on the ‘Up&Up.’ At least by Coldplay standards. Who wouldn’t want that? We’re there the minute a volcano doesn’t spew out steaming lava but heats some corn seeds to stream out a delicious snack: popcorn. Waxing Crescent is about rebuilding oneself. With as much spontaneity as this music video has, even if everything else appears dark, we know a splinter of uniqueness shines through.

    First Quarter

Who said Coldplay’s illustrious ‘Clocks’ went for around five minutes? Nah, they’re surely lying to us. Instead, it’s equivalent to the time we’re going through an upheaval, acting as our sound therapy until we stop hearing the ticking hands of time prolonging. Can we tell we’re not one for patience? The First Quarter Moon is usually when we swap out a “Not happy, Jan” for a lip-synced “Tides that I tried to swim against.” Do you think we’re going to compare our vocals to Chris’s? That’s just not another problem we need as the obstacles keep rising.

    Waxing Gibbous

We know. The exclamation point for Coldplay’s ‘Lost!’ aligns us with the fact that they are lost, mentally, at least, following a dumpster fire-licked to happier times. But then Chris follows it up with a “Doesn’t mean,” and we’ve got a whole juxtaposition on our hands here. It’s probably the type of reflection we’re doing during the Waxing Gibbous Moon. We’re a little unsure at the moment, which is okay. Because we know there’s soon going to be light.

    Full Moon

Speaking of moon manifestation, was your intention to spot Beyonce? If so, you’re so harvesting it this Full Moon. She shows up around the minute and a half mark, wearing gold. That’s the antennae-crested Queen Bee of our hive (not just The Honey POP hive, but generally!). ‘Hymn For The Weekend’ is the ultimate shot of happiness, checking off everything one needs from a good tune.

    Waning Gibbous

We swear we didn’t plan this (and okay, maybe that’s a slight lie.) Cast aside the fact that ‘Don’t Panic’ is so built into Coldplay’s discography that even the locals will give adoring nods of recognition upon hearing its gentle strum. It’s also the opener of Coldplay’s Parachutes, their first studio album, which has a yellow moon depicted on its album cover. That is the definition of synchronicity! However, one of this particular moon’s spiritual meanings is gratitude. And you know what also means that? Yup! It’s the Waning Gibbous Moon, acting as a time to appreciate what you have and to re-evaluate your goals.

    Last Quarter

We wouldn’t be rattling off Coldplay songs that help us through the tides of the moon if ‘Fix You’ wasn’t on it. That’s just blasphemous! From its iconic guitar rift, which has a feeling like we’re floating to another universe with the help of an alien’s ethereal vehicle, to the everlasting hope the lyrics give us when the only flickers of light we see are speckled stars, it’s just that tune. We don’t need any other cleansing modality during The Last Quarter Moon. Only this is injected into our veins.

    Waning Crescent

Let us regurgitate a fact if you have yet to click below! Coldplay’s ‘The Scientist’ follows Nathaniel Hawthorne’s short story The Birthmark. It portrays perfectionism through a scientist named Aylmer and his wife, Georgiana. Over time, their relationship decays, and the former becomes obsessed with his hatred for a birthmark on his wife’s cheek, wanting to remove it surgically. When he does, though, the wife dies at the birthmark, which was her life’s link.

There’s a beautiful line: “The birthmark would come and go with the emotions in her heart..” It runs congruent with ‘The Scientist’ in that the mark became more visible when love was forsaken. Written from the scientist’s perspective, hence the name, it’s his sorrows and regret of falling out of unconditional love. During the Waning Crescent, we could use this teaching for ourselves, treating us with so much self-care that we accept even our flaws.

Astrology whizzes hybridizing as Coldplay fans. Now is your time! What is your musical match-up to the correlating moon cycle phases? All of ours will appear different based on our personalities, most likely shaped by our birth charts and our music tastes. Tweet us @thehoneypop with your answers!

    Sustainability’s Out Of This Galaxy!

Then follow along on our Instagram and Facebook accounts! It may not be exactly Neil Armstrong’s level on a scale of five moons, but the band is setting their records, and you know we will keep covering it! MOON MUSiC will be the first ever 140g EcoRecord LP. Don’t have the 4-1-1 on sustainability? Collect your plastic bottles into a side bin and listen up—folks that have already done so might have just helped out in the making process of the album as the LP will be made from 100% recycled bottles.

The Ocean Cleanup also designed a Notebook Edition EcoRecord LP. Picture Chris Martin’s inspo mood board for this album, and that’s precisely what you’ll get with 28 pages of unseen goodies, voice notes, and demos because we’re genuinely getting spoiled here! And an EcoCD. However, all of these planet-saving perks, such as the sun turning into this emoji (🌞) with its glowing grin, also mean it’s limited! So, you know the drill. Dust off the space suit hanging up in your wardrobe, as that, along with a whole pile of other merch to celebrate this era, is over on their website.

    CNN
     —

Gwyneth Paltrow is enjoying her summer by spending time with her daughter, Apple Martin, and mom, Blythe Danner.

The Goop founder hosted a dinner at her home in the Hamptons on Saturday, posting a photo from the gathering on Instagram with Martin and Danner on Sunday.

Paltrow looked sun-kissed and glowy in a midriff-bearing skirt set, with her wavy hair worn down. Martin, whose resemblance to her mother is uncanny, looked chic in a black mini dress while Danner wore a cozy white maxi dress.

The Oscar-winner rarely shares photos of her children, but in May posted a photo of her daughter on her Instagram page along with a sweet message to celebrate her birthday.

“I love you so deeply and wholly, it defies articulation,” Paltrow wrote, adding, “To behold you as a 19 year old woman fills my heart with almost unbearable love, pride and meaning! I can’t take it!”

Paltrow shares two children with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The pair separated in 2014 after 11 years of marriage. She married producer Brad Falchuk in 2018.

Falchuk, Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld, Jodie Comer, Jimmy Fallon and Rachel Zoe, among others, also attended Paltrow’s Saturday soiree, where guests sipped pear-infused cocktails and dined on Italian food curated by chef Mattia Agazzi.

According to a news release sent to CNN, the event, co-hosted by celebrity stylist Elizabeth Saltzman, “toasted the summer season and true elements of wellness: spirited conversation, connection, and delectable cuisine.”

The Goop founder and the Coldplay frontman share two children, Apple Martin, 19, and Moses Martin, 17.

In a photo posted to Paltrow’s Instagram Story this week, the Oscar-winning actor posed with her son in Milan, apparently after the two watched a Coldplay concert there:

First of all, let’s acknowledge that this pic would fit right into an “Accidentally Wes Anderson” collection, especially considering Paltrow’s own history with the director.

But what’s most striking is Moses’ resemblance to his musician dad:

“I won’t let them be public on any social media or anything like that, I try to keep them out of the public eye as much as possible,” Paltrow explained on the “Literally! With Rob Lowe” podcast in 2020.

“Now it’s different, ’cause kids are like, ‘Can I have a YouTube channel?’” she said. “And I’m like, ‘No, you can’t. Absolutely not.’”

  • Chris Martin No Longer Eats Dinner

Chris Martin No Longer Eats Dinner

    [ad_1]

Chris Martin has cut back from three square meals a day to one at the advice of The Boss.

A week after his ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow shared her controversial broth-based diet, the musician revealed his own complicated eating schedule on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast published Monday, confessing that he doesn’t “actually have dinner anymore.” Martin explained, “I stop eating at 4, and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen.” He added that he, “was lucky enough to go over there to lunch the day after [Coldplay] played Philadelphia last year,” noting that even before implementing Springsteen’s routine he already “was on a really strict diet anyway.” But when he sat down to eat with the legendary singer, Martin realized that the 73-year-old looked “more in shape” than him at the time. When Springsteen’s wife Patti Scialfa revealed that it’s because her husband “only eat[s] one meal a day,” Martin thought, “Well, there you go. That’s my next challenge.” He then joked that Springsteen’s one meal a day is comprised of a “flank of buffalo with a steroid sauce.”

In 2021, Springsteen spoke with Tim McGraw in an interview for Apple Music, during which he was also asked about how he stays in top physical condition. “The biggest thing is diet, diet, diet,” the “Born in the U.S.A.” musician explained. “I don’t eat too much, and I don’t eat bad food, except for every once in a while when I want to have some fun for myself. So I think anybody that’s trying to get in shape, exercise is always important of course, but diet is 90 percent of the game.”

And last week, Paltrow admitted that she is also a big fan of intermittent fasting, taking long stretches between eating and waiting until 12 p.m. to have her first meal of the day. On the March 13 episode of the Art of Being Well podcast, she said, “I have bone broth for [lunch] a lot of the days. Then for dinner I try to eat according to paleo, so lots of vegetables.” During the conversation, the Goop founder was also hooked up to an IV drip which she claims made her “feel so good.” Clips from that conversation went viral on TikTok and soon after stars like Tess Holliday and Meghan McCain accused the actor of disordered eating. But in an Instagram Story on Friday, Paltrow addressed some of those concerns, explaining that her diet choices are due to “very high levels of inflammation” caused by her battle with long COVID-19. “I have been really working to really focus on foods that aren’t inflammatory,” she explained. The former actor also noted that her eating habits are not “meant to be advice for anyone else” as they are “based on [her] medical results and extensive testing.”

Paris Fashion Week 2023 Has Been Interesting

    [ad_1]

Another Paris fashion week rolls around and up pops up another viral celebrity outfit. There are the understated…and the outlandish. Think Kylie Jenner’s lion and Doja Cat’s literal head-to-toe Swarovski look…but that’s sooo yesterday‘s news.

While the Schiaparelli couture show was newsworthy on its own, both Doja and Kylie are making headlines for their looks du jour. Kylie choose the controversial route and went with Givenchy’s gasp-worthy, noose necklace. Yes, you read that right. A noose necklace.

Meanwhile, on Planet Doja Cat, she attended the Viktor & Rolf show sporting faux eyebrows, mustache, and goatee fabricated from false eyelashes. The false eyelashes were intentional, as Doja had heard that her fans were upset that her red Swarovski getup hadn’t included eyelashes…so Mz. Cat gave them eyelashes.

The one thing we do have to respect about Doja is that she is committed. There’s not a fashion week that struts by where Doja isn’t decked out in an outrageous, avant-garde outfit. She’s notorious for having her face and entire body painted in the name of red-carpet-
fashion. The Paris Schiaparelli Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show featured 30,000 red Swarovski crystals covering every inch of Doja’s fabulous skin.

And let’s not forget newly single Kylie Jenner — who just announced her son’s name as Aire (don’t get me started) — wearing Schiaparelli’s latest couture: a dress with a gigantic fake lion head. What’s even more fascinating is that Irina Shayk sported this very same look on the same runway…where Kylie sat front row.

But don’t fret! Kylie’s borderline terrifying look was PETA-approved! Sleep better at night knowing this nightmare “celebrates” a lion’s beauty and may be a statement against trophy hunting…” according to PETA.

Personal favorites include Anya Taylor-Joy, who attended the Dior Haute Couture show in a cropped cream blazer with black applique detailing and matching corset.

And in the name of Nepotism Babies…Apple Martin — daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin — arrived at Chanel’s show in a classic Chanel set, seated in the front row. We all know this means Apple will be the future of Chanel, so prepare to see her in years to come.

AP’s top 2022 photos capture a planet bursting at the seams

    [ad_1]

Taken together, they can convey the feeling of a world convulsing — 150 Associated Press images from across 2022, showing the fragments that make up our lives and freezing in time the moments that somehow, these days, seem to pass faster than ever.

Here: a man recovering items from a burning shop in Ukraine after a Russia attack. Here: people thronging the residence of the Sri Lankan president after protesters stormed it demanding his resignation. Here: medical workers trying to identify victims of a bridge collapse in India. And here: flames engulfing a chair inside a burning home as wildfires sweep across Mariposa County, Calif.

As history in 2022 unfolded and the world lurched forward — or, it seemed sometimes, in other directions — Associated Press photographers were there to bring back unforgettable images. Through their lenses, across the moments and months, the presence of chaos can seem more encircling than ever.

A year’s worth of news images can also be clarifying. To see these photographs is to channel — at least a bit — the jumbled nature of the events that come at us, whether we are participating in them or, more likely, observing them from afar. Thus do 150 individual front-row seats to history and life translate into a message: While the world may surge with disorder, the thrum of daily life in all its beauty continues to unfold in the planet’s every corner.

Dakota Johnson Seen Dancing at Chris Martin’s Concert In Argentina

    [ad_1]

After Coldplay’s Chris Martin consciously uncoupled back in 2014 with his partner of a decade Gwyneth Paltrow, his dating life became decidedly more private. Martin seems to have finally found lasting love with Dakota Johnson after previously being linked to actresses including Jennifer Lawrence and Annabelle Wallis.

Although they’ve kept their relationship low-key, they celebrated three years together this past October. Here, a rundown of the romance.

October 2017: Rumors of a relationship first arose when Johnson and Martin were spotted grabbing dinner at Sushi Park in Los Angeles. According to a People onlooker, the pair appeared “cozy, laughing and affectionate” during the outing.

November 2017: By mid-November fans clocked Johnson at Coldplay’s Buenos Aires, Argentina concert. Lainey Gossip noted that it was the last show of the band’s Head Full Of Dreams tour—and that Johnson was viewing the show from a VIP-level vantage point.

December 2017: The following month, multiple sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the potential couple was together. “Dakota and Chris are definitely dating,” one source said. “They’ve gotten to know each other really well and are very comfortable from one another. Chris sends Dakota his music to get her opinion. It’s more than just a fling.”

A sighting at Nick Cave’s concert in Israel solidified this news. Afterwards, they had dinner at Yam Sheva restaurant in Herzliya. “They came in and they were really, really nice, like extremely nice. It was a surprise,” an eyewitness told the outlet. “They sat with Nick Cave too. I didn’t see them kiss or hold hands or anything like that. They ordered some starters and not a lot of food.”

January 2018: obtained photos of Johnson and Martin at Soho House in Malibu, CaliforniaAn eyewitness said, “Chris and Dakota arrived together in Chris’ car. They met up with friends and had a fun night. They both seemed very happy. They were flirty, and also left the restaurant together.”

    People .

A week later, People spotted the couple walking the beach in Malibu, with a source noting that they had spent “m0st of the weekend together.” The insider offered that, “They seem to be getting more serious. On Friday, they had dinner with friends. They also hung out at Chris’ house and went for a beach walk. They didn’t see each other over the holidays and seem excited to be catching up now.”

People was reportedly on their date night scene again at Stella McCartney’s autumn collection unveiling. They skipped the red carpet, but an onlooker said the couple stayed close once inside the event. “They walked in holding hands and Dakota was not letting go—she was super into the PDA,” the eyewitness remembered. “When Chris let go of her hand, she slipped her arm through his.”

Later that month, Dakota’s father, Don Johnson seemingly confirmed her relationship to Digital Spy. When asked about his daughter’s romance he said, “Yeah, that’s… uh troubling, isn’t it? No, she’s a big girl, she can handle herself!”

February 2018: In mid-February, the couple appeared at Ellen DeGeneres’ 60th birthday party, an event also attended by Paltrow and her fiancé Brad Falchuk. People obtained photos of the pair holding hands outside of the festivities while talking to Drew Barrymore.

June 2018: A few months later, the pair was spotted walking Johnson’s dog, Zeppelin around Malibu. People spoke to a source who gave insight into Johnson and Martin’s relationship. “For the past two weeks, they have spent a lot of time together,” the insider said. “Chris lives in Malibu and Dakota seems to love hanging out there. They occasionally go for dinner with friends, but mostly have friends over at home. They go to the beach together, and walks around the neighborhood. They seem to enjoy sharing a quiet life. It does seem they are getting more serious.”

July 2018: The following month, a Twitter user caught the couple at a Radiohead concert in Boston. They were seemingly on a double date with Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul and his wife, Lauren. “They stood up for a couple of the ovations,” a concertgoer told People, noting that they sat for most of the show. Earlier, Martin and Johnson were seen strolling into the venue hand in hand.

September 2018: The weekend of Paltrow’s wedding to Falchuk, Martin supported Johnson at the Global Citizen Festival in New York City. E! noted Martin’s presence in the audience while Johnson spoke onstage about the power of sharing stories of sexual assault.

As further proof of the pair’s bond, they seemingly got matching tattoos. E! spotted the similar ink when Johnson was photographed at the Venice Film Festival. On her left elbow, there was an infinity sign tattoo with two Xs. Days prior, Martin was seen at an event in Los Angeles with the same tattoo in a similar location.

October 2018: A week later, TMZ reported that Martin and Johnson were throwing a gender reveal party at his home. Photos of blue and pink balloon arches raised speculation that the couple could be expecting a baby. Both of Johnson’s parents, including mother Melanie Griffith, and celebrities such as Sean Penn and Julia Roberts were spotted at the event.

Shortly after, Johnson’s rep denied the rumors to Us Weekly, clarifying that the celebrations were for a birthday party and not a gender reveal of any kind. On Ellen the following month Johnson confirmed that sentiment herself, saying, “Well, the only thing I’m pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas. But not any babies.”

November 2018: Around a year after Martin and Johnson were first spotted at Sushi Park, the couple returned for a casual dinner out. A source told Us Weekly around this time that the couple will “be engaged soon. Chris is head over heels.” The insider also claimed that Martin was holding off on an engagement after Paltrow wed Falchuk in September. “He wanted to make sure the kids didn’t have too much change all at once,” the source said. “He’s a great dad.”

Martin spent Thanksgiving with Paltrow and their two children, Apple, 15 and Moses, 13. A source told E!, “Gwyneth thinks (Johnson) is lovely. She gets on very well with her and is happy for Chris. They’ve spent a good amount of time together and have a very nice friendship.”

April 2019: Johnson and Martin were photographed walking her dog barefoot around Malibu in their last public sighting for months.

June 2019: The Sun reported that the couple split the month prior, to the surprise of close friends. “Chris and Dakota were very easygoing and always seemed really happy together,” a source told the outlet. Meanwhile, The Express claimed that Johnson and Martin “could not have been further apart” when it came to starting a family. A source said, “Chris made it clear he wants more kids as soon as possible but Dakota’s career has really taken off and that’s the last thing she wanted to think about right away. It got to the point, last month, where a light seemed to flick on in both their heads and they realised they were pulling in completely opposite directions – so they decided to call it a day.”

August 2019: Rumors of reconciliation begin when a Twitter user spotted Johnson and Martin at a wrap party for the actress’s upcoming movie, Covers.

Soon after the sighting, Us Weekly confirmed that the pair had reunited. The day after their initial spotting, Martin attended the Los Angeles premiere of Johnson’s new movie, The Peanut Butter Falcon. E! also shared that the couple was back together and “planning to spend more time together later this summer,” per a source

Us Weekly reported that the couple’s reconciliation came courtesy of Martin’s ex, Paltrow. “Gwyneth is the one who pushed them to do it,” a source said, noting that the two had bonded at an April event.

There could be some truth to that claim, as Martin, Paltrow, and their respective partners were all spotted in the Hamptons together in photos from TMZ. Shortly after, Johnson and Martin had date night at East Village’s Double Zero in NYC.

September 2019: Griffith, Johnson’s mother, definitively commented on her daughter’s relationship with Martin. “I love my daughter’s boyfriend. I think that they’re an awesome couple,” she told People. A source told an outlet at the time that privacy is paramount for the couple. “Dakota has been filming out of state, but most weekends she comes back to Malibu to spend time with Chris,” the insider said. “They are very low-key together. They usually have friends over and rarely go out.”

October 2019: On October 4, it wasn’t Martin wishing Johnson a happy birthday on social media. It was his ex Paltrow, who shared a black-and-white photo of Johnson and her pet dog. “Happy 30th birthday to this absolute gem 💙,” she captioned the celebratory IG post.

A few days later, E! reported on Johnson’s 30th birthday bash in Malibu. Guests included Martin, Paltrow, and celebs such as Miley Cyrus and Robert Downey Jr. The report said Johnson and Martin arrived at the event together and spent most of the evening by each other’s side. “Dakota and Chris sat side by side watching different musical acts,” the source told E!. “Dakota and Chris spent a lot of time together. They walked around holding hands or with his hand on her back. They seemed very happy.”

December 2019: Just before Christmas, Page Six spotted Johnson on a trip to Aspen with Martin, Paltrow, and the former couple’s two children Apple and Moses. In photos, Johnson locked arms with Apple while on a coffee run alongside Martin. On Christmas day, Paltrow shared an Instagram of herself and husband Falchuk in ski gear, indicating he was also on the family trip.

January 2020: Paltrow’s support of her ex-husband’s relationship continued into the new year. In a cover story interview with Harper’s Bazaar, she had nothing but kind words for Johnson. “I love her,” Paltrow said. “I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional. But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her. I always start to think of the ampersand sign—what else can you bring in, instead of being resistant to or being made insecure by? There’s so much juice in leaning in to something like that.”

She also spoke about the evolving nature of her dynamic with Martin. “It’s not like there’s a finish line: ‘Oh, we consciously uncoupled; we’re done,’” she explained. “It’s a lifelong commitment to constantly reinvent your relationship with your ex, which you do presumably because you have children together. I don’t see a reason to do it if you don’t have children together. Some people do. But I think we put all the hard work in at the beginning. I would say very rarely is it difficult now. We’ve learned how to communicate with each other. We love each other. We laugh. We have the best of each other. It’s really nice. It makes you feel like you don’t have to lose.”

February 2020: Martin was involved in a major career milestone for Johnson. On Valentine’s Day, Coldplay released its music video f0r the song, “Cry Cry Cry.” The romantic video’s director was none other than Johnson, who made her directorial debut with the collaboration.

March 2020: Early this month, the couple had a rare public outing with Martin’s two children. The foursome was spotted by the Daily Mail strolling through Disneyland for his 43rd birthday.

A few weeks later, Martin and Johnson enjoyed dinner at Crossroads Kitchen in Los Angeles, per E!. Johnson wore dark wide leg jeans, a hoodie, and black loafers for the outing. Meanwhile, Martin sported a long sleeve shirt, dark gray pants, and a blue baseball cap. During an interview with Architectural Digest a few days prior, Johnson had joked that “the key to a healthy relationship” with Martin is having “double sinks” in the bathroom.

Quarantine hasn’t stopped the couple from sharing some adorable moments together. On March 26, Johnson’s friend Olivia Wilde posted a video made by the pair with the caption, “Dakota Johnson: Hand wash CHAMPION.” In the clip, Johnson stands in front of a kitchen sink as she demonstrates her hand washing technique. It’s soon clear that the actress’s “hands” in the video were Martin’s. The “M” and “A” tattoos on each of the wrists gave it away. Martin scrubbed his hands while Johnson spoke to the camera.

A few days later, Martin and Johnson made a rare public appearance together while on a break from quarantine. Photographers snapped the couple walking arm-in-arm through Malibu with Johnson’s dog on March 31.

February 2021: People reported that Johnson and Martin are still going strong and are still spending time with Martin’s kids his ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, and her husband, Brad Flachuck. The two are living in the $12.5 million Malibu mansion Martin bought last October.

“Chris was always a big fan of Malibu,” a source told People. “He loves the beach and often goes surfing and running. The source added: “She seems to enjoy it as much as Chris does. They both love the outdoors and often take beach strolls. They also support local restaurants.”

March 2021:Per The Daily Mail, Johnson has been fueling rumors of her engagement to Martin—with an Emerald ring on her left finger. Neither Johnson nor Martin have confirmed the rumor.

April 2021: On Saturday the 24th, Martin and Johnson were seen out in Malibu for a lunch and coffee date, while fans still wonder if the two are planning to tie the knot. Johnson wore ripped jeans, a black spaghetti-strap top, black Adidas sneakers, and a green knit hat as Martin, who was barefoot, in gray sweats, and a black shirt, followed.

July 2021: Martin and Johnson were spotted enjoying a vacation in Palma De Mallorca, Spain, where they took a boat ride and were seen taking a leisurely stroll together. They each wore black baseball caps as they joined arms.

November 2022: Johnson put on her own show in the audience at Martin’s November 8 concert in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Johnson told Vanity Fair in July 2022 that she loves to tour with Coldplay when she’s not working, and she apparently also loves dancing up a storm to her man’s tunes.

In October, the band had to postpone several shows in Brazil because Martin suffered a serious lung infection and was ordered by doctor’s to rest. Those dates will be picked up in early 2023.

When Johnson can’t travel with him, Martin makes a point of visiting her. He stopped by Boston, Massachusetts, to see his girlfriend as she was filming the superhero movie Madame Web this summer.

MLB Playoffs: Phillies, Dodgers take early NLDS leads

    [ad_1]

Nick Castellanos and the Philadelphia Phillies can put the defending World Series champion Braves on the brink of elimination. Same for the Dodgers against the rival Padres.

Meanwhile, the Mariners and Guardians get a day to shake off tough losses to the Astros and Yankees, respectively.

The best-of-five National League Division Series pitting Phillies vs. Braves and Padres vs. Dodgers are set for their second games Wednesday, while the American League clubs get a day off.

Castellanos carried a big load with his bat in a 7-6 Game 1 victory Tuesday over Atlanta. But despite driving in three runs, his glovework was what really had people talking.

Frequently maligned as part of a subpar defensive outfield, Castellanos sprawled out for a potentially game-saving catch in the ninth inning, snuffing out Atlanta’s rally from a six-run deficit.

The grab helped lock up the Phillies’ third straight win to open this postseason — an unexpected run months after they fired manager Joe Girardi and replaced him with Rob Thomson.

Here’s what else to know about the MLB playoffs today:

    TODAY’S SCHEDULE (All times ET)

NLDS Game 2: Philadelphia at Atlanta, 4:35 p.m., FOX

NLDS Game 2: San Diego at Los Angeles, 8:37 p.m., FS1

    BRAVE NEW OCTOBER

Dansby Swanson and the Braves haven’t rediscovered last year’s World Series magic. They’re hoping it’ll show against Game 2 Phillies starter Zack Wheeler.

Atlanta didn’t look like a defending champion Tuesday. The Braves stranded nine runners in their Game 1 loss, an aggravating day that had the usually cool-headed Swanson slamming his bat and helmet to the ground midgame.

They showed signs of life late, when Matt Olson’s three-run homer cut the deficit to one in the ninth inning. They’ll ask Game 2 starter Kyle Wright to carry over that momentum — something he did well while leading the majors with 21 wins this season.

    CLOSED OUT

The Dodgers can take a 2-0 series lead over San Diego with a win Wednesday. They’ll send three-time Cy Young Award winner Clayton Kershaw to the mound against Padres ace Yu Darvish.

If Kershaw and the Dodgers win a second World Series in three years, it may be without eight-time All-Star Craig Kimbrel in the bullpen. And that’s by choice.

Kimbrel was left off Los Angeles’ NLDS roster, a decision manager Dave Roberts made two weeks after demoting Kimbrel out of the closer’s role.

Kimbrel was 6-7 with 22 saves and was booed at times in his first season in Los Angeles as the replacement for Kenley Jansen. Kimbrel leads active pitchers with 394 career saves and has never blown a postseason chance in 23 appearances, although he has a subpar 4.13 ERA in those games.

Chris Martin pitched the ninth inning in LA’s 5-3 win Tuesday night, converting his first postseason save in 15 career appearances.

    NO JOSHING

Yankees slugger Josh Donaldson is catching heat from fans even after a satisfying Game 1 win in New York.

The 36-year-old was embarrassingly thrown out on the bases after prematurely going into a home run trot on a ball that bounced off the top of the wall during New York’s 4-1 victory Tuesday. Donaldson didn’t run hard, and he didn’t answer questions about it from reporters after the game, either.

It was hardly the first time Donaldson’s lack of hustle became an issue for the Yankees this year. Boone pulled him aside after an incident Sept. 5 and told him, “Let’s not let that happen.”

    FREAKED OUT

Relief pitchers David Robertson of the Phillies and Phil Maton of the Astros were left off their clubs’ Division Series rosters after freak injuries.

Robertson, 37-year-old in a resurgent season for the Phils, injured his right calf jumping to celebrate Bryce Harper’s home run in a clinching Game 2 victory over St. Louis during the wild-card round. He’s not with the team in Atlanta, instead going back to Philadelphia for a PRP injection.

“He’s devastated,” Thomson said. “He really wanted to pitch in the series. And he knows how big a part he is to this club. And he’s very disappointed.”

Maton says he broke his right pinkie finger when he punched a locker in frustration after Houston’s regular-season finale. He’s out for the remainder of the postseason. He called the outburst “shortsighted and ultimately selfish.”
