Actor Darius McCrary of the 1990s sitcom “Family Matters” is being held in a downtown San Diego jail pending a court appearance next week after his arrest by U.S. Border Patrol agents on a felony fugitive arrest warrant.

McCrary, 49, was arrested Oct. 5, according to jail records. He is scheduled to appear in San Diego Superior Court on Wednesday for further proceedings and is being held without bail, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office jail website.

The felony warrant for McCrary is from Michigan, and was issued when he did not make a court appearance for failure to pay child support, according to multiple media reports. McCrary was ordered in 2019 to pay $1,366 per month child support when his divorce from actress and former Harlem Globetrotter Tammy Brawner was finalized, according to reports.

McCrary played Eddie Winslow on the hit ’90s sitcom “Family Matters,” which aired on ABC and CBS from 1989-1998.

  • Ex-boyfriend sentenced to 68 years for killing 2 women, starting house fire with his baby inside – WTOP News

Ex-boyfriend sentenced to 68 years for killing 2 women, starting house fire with his baby inside – WTOP News

A Maryland man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison for the murder of his child’s mother and grandmother, shooting another person and setting a D.C. apartment on fire with his baby inside.

A Maryland man has been sentenced to 68 years in prison for the murder of his child’s mother and grandmother, shooting another person and setting a D.C. apartment on fire with his baby inside.

Keanan Christopher Turner, 35, of Clinton, was sentenced Friday in the shooting death of the mother of his 3-month-old son, 32-year-old Ebony Wright, and her mother, Wanda Wright, 48. Another female relative was also shot and survived.

It happened three years ago on April 12, 2021, at a home on the 2300 block of Good Hope Court in Southeast.

Turner had been in a relationship with Ebony Wright when she became pregnant. He asked her to terminate the pregnancy, which she refused; after which, Turner stopped speaking to her.

After giving birth, she filed a custody and child support lawsuit against Turner. On April 12, 2021, Turner reached out to meet his child at her apartment, where Wanda Wright, a female relative and the baby were also present.

Turner went to the bathroom after meeting the family and came back with a gun, a Justice Department news release said. He then shot Ebony Wright in the head while she was holding the child, and then shot her mother. Turner then went into a bedroom and shot the relative.

“Before leaving the apartment, Turner lit the custody papers and set the apartment on fire, in an attempt to kill his own child. He then fled the scene,” the news release said.

Ebony and Wanda Wright died from their injuries, but the baby’s aunt was able to save him and call 911, according to reporting from the Washington Post.

Turner was found guilty on two counts of first-degree murder while armed, attempted first-degree murder of a minor, arson and destruction of property, among other charges.

At the sentencing hearing last week, prosecutors argued Turner should be sentenced to life in prison, given he showed a “complete lack of remorse” and “the heinous nature of the offense, namely the killing of two innocent women, the attempted murder of a third, and most horrific, leaving his own infant child to burn to death, solely to avoid paying child support.”

  • Kevin Costner’s Wife Argues In Divorce Hearing That Luxurious Lifestyle Is In Kids’ DNA

Kevin Costner’s Wife Argues In Divorce Hearing That Luxurious Lifestyle Is In Kids’ DNA

Kevin Costner’s divorce with Christine Baumgartner is getting more costly by the minute.

The two appeared in a courtroom in Santa Barbara, California, on Thursday for a child support hearing for their three teenage children. According to documents obtained by People and “Entertainment Tonight,” Baumgartner is asking for $161,592 per month. Her attorney, John Rydell, argued that the children’s financially comfortable lifestyle is “in their DNA at this point.”

Baumgartner currently receives $129,755 from Costner in monthly child support. Their children are 16, 14 and 13 years old.

The former model and handbag designer filed for divorce in May and allegedly defied her prenuptial agreement by refusing to move out of Costner’s $145 million Santa Barbara home. She married Costner in 2004 and is currently leasing a $40,000 house.

Thursday’s hearing, set to continue Friday, followed on from a forensic accountant’s assessment of Costner’s assets. The “Yellowstone” actor’s lawyers argued that Baumgartner, who initially demanded $248,000 per month, was exceeding “the reasonable needs of the children.”

According to court documents, Baumgartner’s lawyers initially argued that at least “$175,057 per month” was an acceptable child support figure under “the guideline” of California law in combination with Costner’s alleged “cash flow.”

In her legal filing, as obtained by People on Saturday, Baumgartner stated that “forensics has determined [Costner’s] average cash flow available for support for the two-year period of 2021 and 2022 was $19,248,467 per year ($1,604,039 per month).”

In documents seen by “Entertainment Tonight,” Costner’s legal team argued that his children’s needs “are fully met” by monthly child support of $63,209, and that “support greater than that amount is simply disguised spousal support.”

Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner were married at Costner’s ranch in Aspen, Colorado, in 2004.

Baumgartner wept on the stand while discussing Costner’s 160-acre Dunbar Ranch in Colorado where they married, per “ET.”

“It’s so much more than this — it’s an experience. We’ve created quite a community,” Baumgartner said while looking over evidentiary photos, per People. She spoke about discussing the family’s volleyball court, garden and infinity pool, as well as two guest houses.

“We create whatever we can dream up in here,” she reportedly said.

An eyewitness told the outlet that Baumgartner “started tearing up and reached for a tissue” as she was asked about the property, which Costner acquired solely for $30 million in 2000. The judge adjourned the court for five minutes so Baumgartner could compose herself.

Baumgartner is reportedly entitled to a $1.5 million divorce payout, according to a prenuptial agreement obtained by People. A source told the outlet in July that she was “focused on making sure everyone is as happy and comfortable as possible.”

  • Dads’ Resource Center Identifies 4 Common Challenges Single Fathers Face

Dads’ Resource Center Identifies 4 Common Challenges Single Fathers Face

    Press Release

    Feb 9, 2023 09:00 EST

According to the 2021 Annie Casey Foundation Kids Count Report, 34% of children under the age of 18 in the United States live in single-parent families. Most of these 23,756,000 children live with their mothers, and all too often have limited access to their father, his parents and extended family. When this happens, these fathers need the assistance of organizations like the Dads’ Resource Center.

“In some cases, single fathers are less engaged in the lives of their children than we all desire,” said Dads’ Resource Center Founder Dr. Joel N. Myers. “But, in the majority of cases, the family courts, county and human service systems prevent rather than encourage fathers to be actively engaged and involved with their children. These biases against fathers have an overwhelmingly negative impact on our children, culture, and economy.”

Since its inception in 2016, the DRC has found that these are four of the most common challenges single fathers face in their efforts to be active in their children’s lives:

Not being able to see their children. The greatest calling for any man is to be there for his children. Too often, able and willing fathers are unnecessarily limited or completely denied access to their children by those systems meant to protect the well-being of children.

Being boxed in by child support systems – Most single fathers want to continue to provide for their children. However, according to the National Parents Organization, “More than 50% of obligor parents are pushed below the poverty line because of unrealistic child support obligations that prove impossible for them to meet & prevent them from fully participating in raising their children.”

Money issues – Most times, fathers leave the residence during a separation to ensure stability for the mother. While transitioning to a single income, dads need to maintain current obligations such as debts and vehicle payments, pay support, and if custody is contentious, pay tens of thousands of dollars in legal and lawyer fees. This often leads to:

Housing issues – Very quickly, a father can find himself with very little left over to secure new housing and purchase new housewares. The best a father might be able to do is have a small one-room or one-bedroom rental. When this is the case, it often is held against him being able to have overnight visits with his children.

About the Dads’ Resource Center (www.dadsrc.org)

Founded by AccuWeather Founder and CEO Dr. Joel N. Myers, Dads’ Resource Center is the leading advocate for single fathers. DRC believes that father absence is a major factor in nearly every social issue our country faces and that all able and willing dads should be allowed to uphold their sacred responsibility as fathers.

  • Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Reach Custody Settlement in Divorce

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Reach Custody Settlement in Divorce

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have finally reached a settlement regarding their children and their joint properties as they continue to finalize the details of their divorce.

On Monday, the reality star and controversial rapper came to an agreement regarding their four young children — North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — concluding that they will have joint physical and legal custody with “equal access,” according to court documents first obtained by TMZ. Sources told the outlet, however, that Kardashian will still have their children the majority of the time. Her ex-husband even acknowledged that she currently takes care of their kids 80% of the time on the Alo Full Mind podcast in September. According to the settlement, West will pay the Skims founder $200,000 a month in child support, which is due on the first day of each month and must be wired directly to her account, and will also be responsible for 50% of their medical and educational expenses, including tuition, and 50% of their children’s security expenses. They also agreed that should any disputes regarding their children arise in the future, they will participate in mediation in order to deal with it. If either party fails to participate in this mediation session then the other parent will get to make the decision in the disagreement by default.

During this most recent hearing, West and Kardashian also came to an understanding regarding their joint property, dividing their assets in accordance with their prenuptial agreement. In that prenup, both parties waived spousal support. According to a source who spoke to TMZ, Kardashian has had a difficult time over the last year attempting to resolve this divorce given all of West’s repeated public outbursts. Throughout this process, the Grammy winner has gone through half a dozen lawyers and missed multiple depositions. “Kim’s patience was tested, but she handled things calmly and ultimately Kanye came around,” they said.

Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021 after seven years of marriage. While West initially refused to engage in the proceedings, in December of last year, the reality star requested to be declared legally single and to separate issues of child custody and property from her marital status and to have her maiden name restored. The musician initially challenged Kardashian’s request to be declared legally single, but later said in a statement, “I’ve asked my team to expedite the dissolution of my marriage to Kim so I can put my entire attention to our beautiful children.”

Representatives for Kardashian and West did not immediately respond to Vanity Fair‘s request for comment.
