  • How ‘Chicago P.D.’ Wrote Off Kiana Following Toya Turner Exit

    [ad_1]

SPOILER ALERT: The following reveals major plot points from NBC‘s Chicago P.D.’s Season 13 premiere.

On tonight’s premiere of NBC’s Chicago P.D., fans learned what happens to Toya Turner‘s character, Officer Kiana Cook, following the actress’s exit from the series.

Kiana was last seen in the Season 12 finale “Vows,” as an honored guest at Detective Kim Burgess’ wedding to Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).

In tonight’s episode, aptly titled “Consequences,” it is revealed that Kiana “took a permanent spot in the 17th,” due to Voight’s Intelligence Unit being put on the back burner following an investigation into his involvement in the death of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid (Shawn Hatosy).

Voight confirmed her new position in a conversation with the new boss in town, Commander Devlin (Joel Murray), who declined to reinstate his team even though they had been cleared in the matter concerning Reid. The Intelligent Unit’s leader was pushing for the team to get back to business before they lost any more of their colleagues.

Turner joined the cast in 2024, making her debut early in Season 12. The character is a former tactical officer demoted to patrol by her supervisor after noting his tendencies to avoid any real work to preserve his pension. She catches the attention of Intelligence after helping catch the killer of their latest addition, Detective Emily Martel. She is later recruited by Voight (Jason Beghe), whom she helped with a case involving teenage girls killing their abusers.

Deadline revealed exclusively in June that Turner would be leaving the show for reasons unknown after one season.

At the time, she said of her departure, “My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of. I’ve evolved through this experience, both as an artist and in my craft, and I’m walking away with depth, clarity, and momentum for whatever comes next.”

New episodes of Chicago P.D. air Wednesdays at 10 pm ET on NBC. All OneChicago series are produced by Universal Television and Wolf Entertainment.

Tracy Spiridakos is waving goodbye to the Windy City.

The “Chicago P.D.” star, who fans know as Detective Hailey Upton, will reportedly leave the series after its upcoming 11th season.

According to Variety, it is unknown how long Spiridakos will be featured in the new season before she’s written off the Dick Wolf-produced procedural.

Her departure will follow the 2022 exit of Jesse Lee Soffer, who played her onscreen husband, Jay Halstead. At the time, the 39-year-old actor thanked the “incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years,” and expressed his “deepest gratitude” to producers, castmates and crew members.

Spiridakos shared her own heartfelt farewell to Soffer — who returned earlier this year to direct an episode of the series.

“Jesse, what can I say, you’re the absolute best,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Thank you for your kindness, your guidance and your friendship. You’re the greatest onscreen husband a girl could ask for. I’ll miss being on set with you every day. I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you next.”

The 35-year-old, who has yet to publicly comment on her departure, joined the series in 2017 near the end of the fourth season.

  • Tracy Spiridakos Leaving ‘Chicago P.D.’ After Season 11

    [ad_1]

The upcoming (abbreviated) eleventh season of NBC’s Chicago P.D. will be the last for Tracy Spiridakos, Deadline has confirmed. She will depart the Wolf Entertainment cop drama after eight seasons, seven of them as a series regular.

Spiridakos’ pending departure follows that of her on-screen husband, Jesse Lee Soffer, who left Chicago P.D. last season.

On the show, Spiridakos plays Detective Hailey Upton Halstead, a former robbery-homicide detective. Although Hailey and Jay Halstead (Soffer) had a rocky start when they were first partnered, their relationship gradually blossomed into a romance and marriage.

But then, early in Season 10, Jay returned to the Army in a new job hunting drug cartels in Bolivia soon after the couple’s wedding, leaving their future up in the air. It is unclear whether Soffer would return to give Spiridakos’ character a proper goodbye which is a tradition for popular on-screen couples.

Before joining Chicago P.D., Spiridakos starred on the NBC drama series Revolution.

The news of Spiridakos’ departure was first reported by Variety.
