  • Chase Sapphire Reserve New $250 Hotel Credit Now Live (Plus List of Eligible Properties for Double Stack with The Edit Credit)

    [ad_1]

Chase Sapphire Reserve New $250 Hotel Credit

Starting January 1, 2026, Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders can take advantage of a new benefit for hotel stays. If you have the card you will receive up to $250 in statement credits now through December 1, 2026 on prepaid Chase Travel hotel bookings for stays with:

    • IHG® Hotels & Resorts
    • Montage Hotels & Resorts
    • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
    • Omni Hotels & Resorts
    • Virgin Hotels
    • Minor Hotels
    • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts.

This new credit is a small improvement for the existing The Edit credit as well as both will apply to the same booking. So if you have an eligible booking at one of the brands listed above that is also part of The Edit, you will receive up to $500 back on one stay.

As a reminder, The Edit credit is also slightly improved for the new year. Starting January 1, 2026, you can enjoy up to $500 in automatic statement credits annually for prepaid bookings made with The Edit, with a maximum of $250 per transaction. So you can use these $250 credit for two stays at any time during the year, not semi-annually.

Double Stack CSR Credits at these Hotels

While The Edit includes over 1,300 properties globally, here are some notable hotels from the brands listed above that are currently confirmed in the collection:

The full list might be longer, but I’ll keep adding more properties. Also please let me know if you notice any properties that are not listed, or that should be removed from the list. You should also double check on your own to make sure that the information listed here is correct before booking a stay, as some properties that were part of The Edit have been removed as of January 1st when the new credit kicked in (HT: Stephanie).

Since these properties are part of the Edit, you will receive the following complimentary benefits:

    • Daily breakfast for two
    • $100 property credit (dining, spa or other activities at the property)
    • Room upgrade at check-in if available
    • Early check-in/late check-out if available
    • Free Wi-Fi

  • Some Chase Sapphire Reserve Cardholders Receiving $400 Retention Offers

    [ad_1]

Chase Sapphire Reserve $400 Retention Offers

Chase has been handing out some big retention offers recently for the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. The annual fee on this card was increased to $795 just a few months ago. So if you’re on the fence about keeping the card for another year, then it’s worth checking for a possible offer.

I have seen a few reports in recent weeks of people getting a $400 credit with no spend requirement just by calling in. There are a least four people that have reported getting the $400 credit here, and three more here. Some people had to call in a second or third time after being denied at first.

A $400 credit is a great offer in my opinions as it covers just over half the annual fee and it makes the card even cheaper that it was before the refresh. With the annual credits available on the card I think it makes sense to keep it for one more year if you receive a similar offer.

Let me know if you have received a similar retention offer from Chase!

If you click the banner then you need to fill out personal information such as name, address, and income to see if you are eligible for this or any other bonus.

  • Hyatt Explorist Status Coming for Sapphire Reserve Cardholders, Plus New Hyatt Card

    [ad_1]

Hyatt Explorist Status for Sapphire Reserve Cardholders

Hyatt Hotels today announced an expanded agreement with Chase, building on the successful collaboration between Hyatt and Chase that rewards World of Hyatt cardmembers for stays across Hyatt’s global portfolio.

The two companies say that the expanded collaboration is expected to drive additional stays to Hyatt properties from other Chase cardmembers via Chase Travel and Chase Ultimate Rewards.

There’s also a new benefit that will launch next year. World of Hyatt Explorist status will be added as a benefit for top spending Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardmembers beginning in the middle of 2026. This probably mean that it will be added to the list of perks for those who spend $75,000 or more.

Hyatt says it will also continue to increase the number of luxury and premium brands, such as Park Hyatt and Alila, participating in The Edit by Chase Travel. Additionally, Hyatt plans to expand its card portfolio as Hyatt and Chase continue to grow their relationship, building on the success of its current co-branded credit cards – the World of Hyatt Credit Card and the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card.

  • Chase Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve Upgrade Offers Coming Soon?

    [ad_1]

Chase Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve Upgrade Offers

The official Chase Social Media team has shared on reddit that they are working on launching upgrade offers for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Chase said that “upgrade offers are coming – stay tuned!” This was in response to a question saying “you have a lot of loyal customers of the preferred card that would like to get the reserve. Please consider letting us upgrade our cards with a bonus.”

That’s very little information to go on, but that would be a good option for existing cardholders who have their eyes on the Sapphire Reserve. We don’t have a timeline when these upgrade offers will start going out, but it could be worth waiting.

We also do not know what kind of bonus they will offer if any.

Let me know what you think!

  • Chase Adds $250 Credit and Improves The Edit Credit for Sapphire Reserve Cardholders

    [ad_1]

New $250 Credit and Improved The Edit Credit for Sapphire Reserve Cards

As we’re getting ready for the big Amex Platinum revamp which takes place tomorrow, Chase is surprising Sapphire Reserve cardholders with a new credit and an improvement to an existing credit.

This is a positive but strange move as the cards just (re)launched a couple of months ago. Maybe they’re trying to steal some of the limelight from Amex, or maybe they didn’t get as many new signups as they expected. Or perhaps, they’re reading all the Amex Platinum leaks and realizing that even at $100 more, those cards might be more enticing?

Nonetheless, existing and new Chase Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholder will enjoy these changes starting next year.

    Improved The Edit Credit

Currently, The Edit $500 credit is split into two $250 statement credits. You can use one $250 credit between January 1 and June 30 and the second one between July 1 and December 31.

Starting January 1, 2026, enjoy up to $500 in automatic statement credits annually for prepaid bookings made with The Edit, with a maximum of $250 per transaction. So you can use these $250 credit for two stays at any time during the year.

    Two-night minimum still applies.

New $250 Credit for Select Chase Travel Hotels

Starting January 1, 2026, get up to $250 in statement credits through December 1, 2026 on prepaid Chase Travel hotel bookings for stays with:

    • IHG® Hotels & Resorts
    • Montage Hotels & Resorts
    • Pendry Hotels & Resorts
    • Omni Hotels & Resorts
    • Virgin Hotels
    • Minor Hotels
    • Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts.

    Two night minimum required.

  • New Welcome Bonus for Chase Sapphire Reserve, Earn 125K Points with $6K Spend

    [ad_1]

    Chase Sapphire Reserve 125K Bonus

    Chase Sapphire Reserve 125K Bonus

The revamped Chase Sapphire Reserve has a new welcome bonus that I’d consider better than what we saw at launch. Instead of 100,000 points and a $500 Chase Travel credit, you can now earn 125,000 points instead. I think most people will take the extra 25,000 points instead of the $500 travel credit.

The new bonus is already available through referral links, which means that if a friend or family members invites you, they will earn a bonus. Small business owners can also check out the 200K bonus of the Sapphire Reserve Business card.

Chase says this card now offers “$2,700 in annual cardmember value”, but it also comes with a higher annual fee of $795. Check out the bonus below, plus the full details of the revamped benefits.

    Signup Bonus

    • Earn 125,000 points Ultimate Rewards points after you spend $6,000 in purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
    • APPLY NOW

This credit card is unavailable to you if you currently have one open. The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you currently have any other personal Sapphire cards open, previously held this card or received a new cardmember bonus for this card. We may also consider the number of cards you have opened and closed, as well as other factors in determining your bonus eligibility. Chase now has an Amex style pop-up that will let you withdraw the application if you are not eligible for the signup bonus.

    Annual Fee

    • $795 for primary cardholder
    • $195 for authorized user cards

Cardmembers who applied prior to June 23, 2025, will experience these new benefits and features starting October 26, 2025. Their annual fee will be adjusted to $795 on their next anniversary date following October 26, 2025.

    Earning Rates

The Chase Sapphire Reserve card earns:

    • 10x points on eligible Peloton equipment and accessory purchases
    • 8x points on all Chase Travel purchases
    • 5x points on eligible Lyft rides through 9/30/27
    • 4x points on flights and hotels booked direct, replacing 3x points on all travel
    • 3x points on all dining purchases worldwide
    • 1x point on all other purchases

Ultimate Rewards points can be redeemed for statement credits, but you can get maximum value but transferring them to one of the many travel partners. World of Hyatt is usually one of the favorites.

    Travel in Style

Cardmembers receive a variety of high-value travel benefits and credits, including:

    • $500 annual The Edit credit – Chase Travel’s collection of over 1,100 hand-picked hotels and resorts
    • Points Boost, the new points redemption accelerator program
      • With Points Boost offers, all cardmembers’ points will be worth up to 2x on thousands of both top booked hotels and flights with select airlines and hotels through Chase Travel.
      • For Chase Travel purchases not eligible for Points Boost Offers, points can be redeemed at a 1:1 rate on Chase Travel, replacing 1.5x on all Chase Travel purchases.
      • Points earned prior to October 26, 2025, by Sapphire Reserve cardmembers who applied prior to June 23, 2025, can be redeemed at 1.5x on Chase Travel until October 26, 2027. For points earned prior to October 26, 2025, cardmembers will automatically receive the best offer available, whether it’s Points Boost or 1.5x on Chase Travel, maximizing rewards value for two years.
    • Complimentary IHG One Rewards Platinum Elite Status
    • Cardmembers continue to receive:
      • $300 annual travel credit – still the most flexible travel credit available
      • $120 Global Entry, TSA Precheck or Nexus credit every four years
      • Access to the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club network of airport lounges and entry to over 1,300 lounges with Priority Pass Select and more than 20 select Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounges and Air Canada Cafés when traveling on a Star Alliance airline

  • Chase Changing Timing Of Chase Sapphire Reserve Travel Credit For Some Cardholers – Doctor Of Credit

Chase Changing Timing Of Chase Sapphire Reserve Travel Credit For Some Cardholers – Doctor Of Credit

    [ad_1]

Some Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders have received an e-mail from Chase informing them that the timing of their travel credit will be changing. For example:

    • Like in years past your $300 annual travel credit will reset in
December and you will start to receive statement credits for
      travel purchases.
    • On December 30, 2024, any unused portion of your $300 credit
will be applied to your account as a statement credit.
    • Starting in 2025, your $300 travel credit will then reset annually on and you will start receiving statement credits up to $300 for your travel purchases.
    • All other rewards program terms continue to apply.

If you’ve applied since May 21, 2017 this will not affect you at all as you already receive the credit based on your cardmember year rather than calendar year. People who applied before that date had a grandfathered credit and will be in line with all other cardholders.

This change is only for grandfathered CSR members who get the travel credit based on the calendar year. Those who signed up since May 21, 2017, get the credit based on the cardmember year. For them, there are no changes at all.

    Eligibility

The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.

These cards are also subject to the Chase 5/24 rule. If you’re not sure how to check your 5/24 status, follow these steps.

    Chase Is Matching These Offers

If you have applied for one of these two cards recently, you can contact Chase and ask them to match these improved offers. Chase seems to be matching those cardholders who have applied within the last 30 days.

For the Chase Sapphire Preferred card they are only matching the 75,000 online bonus. The extra 10,000 bonus is an in-branch only promotion.

    Guru’s Wrap-up

Chase is offering a 75,000 points bonus for the Chase Sapphire Reserve in-branch, as well as a 85,000 bonus for Chase Sapphire Preferred. The online offers are both for 75,000 points.

So if you are planning to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, it’s best to visit a local branch if you have one near you. Or you can wait and hope that these online offers also become available through referral links, and apply through a friend’s or family member’s link.

Full review on Chase Sapphire Reserve can be found here.

    Our Verdict

    Chase sapphire preferred:

We saw a 90,000 point offer last year. This isn’t as good as that offer but I still think it’s worth doing and think it’s unlikely we see a better offer than this in the next year. Because of that we will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

    Chase sapphire reserve:

Sapphire reserve is the best bonus we’ve seen for awhile as well, most recent increased bonus was 70,000 points. If you can make use of the benefits and don’t mind the high annual fee then this card is worth considering as well. Just remember you can’t get both of these cards so you will have to chose the offer you prefer.

  • [Quarterly Reminder] Chase Sapphire Reserve Offers $5/month DoorDash Account Credit – Doctor Of Credit

[Quarterly Reminder] Chase Sapphire Reserve Offers $5/month DoorDash Account Credit – Doctor Of Credit

    [ad_1]

    • Update 4/12/24: Everyone else probably already knew this, but I learned today that DoorDash has grocery stores like Shoprite, Aldi and many more. They also have convenience stores like 7-Eleven. I added $35 from the grocery store to meet the free delivery requirement. I got $10 off with a promo code and then used my $15 DoorDash credit. (And I paid the balance with my Pepper points.) You can check for any discount offers for Grocery Stores at this Doordash link.
    • Update 9/1/22, quarterly reminder: You should now have $15 available for you from July, August, September if you didn’t use up the July and August credits. The $15 can be used anytime during the month of September.
    • Update 6/1/22, quarterly reminder: You should now have $15 available for you from April, May, and June if you didn’t use up the April/May credits. These can be used anytime during the month of June.
    • Update 4/4/22: You should now see the $5 Doordash credits in your Doordash account. (It’s not a credit card statement credit – it’s a Doordash credit for accounts with a linked Sapphire Reserve card.) If you’d like, you can wait until June 1st and you should have $15 accumulated which is easier to use for a meal. We’ll try posting a reminder each quarter on the first of June, September, December, and March to use up the credit.
    • Update 4/1/22: The $5 benefit and the Dashpass benefit are now live. FAQ
    • Update 2/1/22: Media sources are confirming both of these things: the $5 monthly credit and the DashPass extension through 2024 (for Chase Sapphire Preferred, Reserve & No annual fee Sapphire). Two additional details on the $5 monthly credit:
    • The $5 credit is for Sapphire Reserve cardholders and it will begin in April 2022 and continue through December 2024.
    • The $5 credit expires after 3 months. This makes it possible to easily use them in $15 increments four times per year. Much more useful than $5 expiring each month.
    • Update 1/31/22: It has now been confirmed that DashPass has been extended until 2024.

    Original post (1/29/22):

A Reddit member heard from a Chase rep about a renewal of DoorDash benefits coming to the Sapphire Reserve card:

We’ll have to wait and see exactly which Chase cards will have these offerings, but the Sapphire Reserve will certainly be included, per the report.

  • Why I Use Chase Pay Yourself Back 1.25% Redemptions – Doctor Of Credit

Why I Use Chase Pay Yourself Back 1.25% Redemptions – Doctor Of Credit

    [ad_1]

Many commenters seem bewildered that some people cash out their Chase Ultimate Rewards points at 1.25% per point with Pay Yourself Back instead of using travel partners or using Chase Travel at 1.5%. And so I thought to share why I use the 1.25% cashout option.

Two responses which came up in the comments:

    • 1.25% cash redemption is relevant for those on Team Cash Back, i.e. those who don’t travel much.
    • 1.25% cash redemption is relevant for those who generate vast amounts of Ultimate Rewards points and couldn’t possibly use them all on travel.

Personally, I somewhat fall into the first camp. While I do travel multiple times per year, it’s usually domestic. I also never got into the whole luxury travel thing. If I’m flying Spirit economy, my points don’t help me much. And my flights are typically very specific, e.g. I need a non-stop flight departing Tuesday between 2pm and 9pm.

The counter-argument is that you can still book any flight with Chase Travel at 1.5 cents per points, so why cash them out at 1.25%?

My experience has been that when booking through Chase Travel the prices are often a bit higher. I also find it easier to book directly with the airline, especially when there are things like paying for luggage add-on, etc.

For this reason, people like myself find it simplest to just cash out points using Pay Yourself Back. We took a big hit when Chase lowered the Pay Yourself Back from 1.5 to 1.25, and now we’re taking another hit with the dwindling options for 1.25% cashout. For now, I’ll use up my points when the annual fee posts or I’ll try to find a gift card vendor who codes as Gas to cash out my points.

(Full Disclosure: I’m a complete novice at travel booking.)

  • (Speculation) Grocery Category Getting Eliminated From Chase Sapphire Reserve Pay Yourself Back 1.25% – Doctor Of Credit

(Speculation) Grocery Category Getting Eliminated From Chase Sapphire Reserve Pay Yourself Back 1.25% – Doctor Of Credit

    [ad_1]

    Speculation at this point:

In the Chase login it’s showing the Sapphire Reserve ‘Pay Yourself Back’ categories of Gas, Annual Fee, Select Charities at 1.25% are being extended through June 30, 2024. However, the Grocery category 1.25% is still showing the March 31 deadline which seems to indicate it’s ending soon.

For me this is a big blow as my Gas category usage is limited whereas Grocery is easy for me. You’ll want to cash out whatever you can before the 31st. Possibly purchases made today, 3/29, will show as available for cashout by Sunday, 3/31. (I don’t recall how these things settle over weekends.)

  • Ouch! Chase Sapphire Reserve Priority Pass to Lose Restaurant Access

Ouch! Chase Sapphire Reserve Priority Pass to Lose Restaurant Access

    [ad_1]

Chase Sapphire Reserve Priority Pass to Lose Restaurant Access

Chase Sapphire Reserve has announced an upcoming change to its Priority Pass Select membership which is complimentary for all cardholders.

Starting in July, cardmembers will lose access to restaurants, markets and other non-lounge locations.

Here’s the text that was included in the most recent monthly statement:

“As of July 1, 2024 you will no longer have access to restaurants, cafes, and markets participating in the Priority Pass Select network as part of the Priority Pass SelectTM Benefit associated with your Card. Access to Priority Pass Select’s network of lounges and other select airport experiences is not impacted by this update.”

Most likely the same change will also apply to the The Ritz-Carlton™ Credit Card from J.P. Morgan. That leaves the Capital One Venture X Business and UBS Visa Infinite Credit Card as the only options to get complimentary Priority Pass Select with restaurant access.

Priority Pass restaurant credits allow eligible members to dine at a discount in participating restaurants in airport terminals. There are nearly 40 airport restaurants in the United States and more overseas, where you can use your Priority Pass membership (upon enrollment) to receive a $28 dining credit each for yourself and a guest, for $56 total toward your bill. The credits are cumulative on the total bill.

    Chase Referrals Sapphire Cards

Chase Allows Referrals To Both Sapphire Cards

Chase has made am improvement to its referral program when it comes to its two popular Sapphire credit cards. You can now refer for either card as long as you hold one of the cards in the Sapphire family.

Until now you needed to have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card in order to refer another person to apply for Chase Sapphire Reserve. Similarly, you need to have Chase Sapphire Preferred in order to apply someone else for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

The change happened either yesterday or the day before, and was first reported by Travel on Points. When you go to refer from your Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you’ll see the new option there.

Also, the person clicking on a referral link, will see the option to apply for either Chase Sapphire card.

This makes it easier to refer friends and family members for these two Chase credit cards.

How to Refer Chase Sapphire Cards

You can find your referral link for any Chase credit card on the Chase Refer-a-Friend page.

Current Sapphire cardholders can earn 15,000 Ultimate Rewards points for every referral, up to a maximum of 75,000 points per year.

Update 11/1/23: Deal is back through 11/30/2023. It’s a bit more interesting now that PYB only offers a max of 1.25%.

Update 10/15/22: Deal is back and valid through 12/31/22.

Update 5/3/22: Deal is back through May 31, 2022. They increased the Freedom tier from 5% bonus to 10% bonus (updated below).

Update 11/1/21: Deal is back and valid 11/01/2021 – 11/30/2021

    The Offer

Direct Link to offer (shows in the Ultimate Rewards login)

    • Chase released today a new redemption option of Ultimate Rewards points to get Apple merchandise through the Chase portal with bonus value of up to 50% more on the points.

The bonus is broken down as follows:

    • Sapphire Reserve: 50% bonus
    • Sapphire Preferred: 25% bonus
    • INK Preferred/Plus: 25% bonus
    • Freedom cards and the no-fee Sapphire card: 10% bonus (20% on Airpods)
    • Ink Cash/Unlimited: 10% bonus (20% on Airpods)

Instead of each point being worth 1 cent, it can now worth up to 1.5 cents. For example, if you buy a $600 Apple Watch through the Ultimate Rewards portal, it would typically cost 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points, but it’ll now cost just 40,000 points for Sapphire Reserve cardholders.

    Our Verdict

For most people, using the Pay Yourself Back feature will make more sense to get the same 1.5%/1.25% value assuming you have enough dining/Airbnb spend to use up your points on. But overall it’s still nice to have an additional option and could be useful for someone with an Apple purchase to make. It also could be a little bonus for Freedom cardholders to bump up their earnings by 10%.
