  • Chase Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve Upgrade Offers Coming Soon?

Chase Sapphire Preferred to Sapphire Reserve Upgrade Offers

The official Chase Social Media team has shared on reddit that they are working on launching upgrade offers for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card.

Chase said that “upgrade offers are coming – stay tuned!” This was in response to a question saying “you have a lot of loyal customers of the preferred card that would like to get the reserve. Please consider letting us upgrade our cards with a bonus.”

That’s very little information to go on, but that would be a good option for existing cardholders who have their eyes on the Sapphire Reserve. We don’t have a timeline when these upgrade offers will start going out, but it could be worth waiting.

We also do not know what kind of bonus they will offer if any.

Let me know what you think!

  • (Update) Special Offer For Recent Approvals: Chase Sapphire Preferred & INK Cardholders Get $50 Chase Travel Credit – Doctor Of Credit

Update 9/28/25: Another round has gone out according to MtM

Update 6/26/25: Another interesting report came in today from a Reddit user who holds both Sapphire Preferred and INK Preferred. They initially only got $50 off a Chase Travel booking, but after using up that credit, another $50 credit appeared. If you got both of these cards within the past 1-2 years, check Chase Travel if you have the credit, and then check after it was used.

Update 6/24/25: To clarify, this $50 credit is a credit at checkout (unlike the CSP $50 hotel credit which is a statement credit. From what I’m reading, it appears this offer might be available for everyone who signed up within the past year-or-so (or possibly up to 1.5 years) on the Sapphire Preferred or INK Preferred, even if you didn’t get an email about it. Simply start a Chase Travel booking at see if they take off $50 at checkout, and you’ll know that you have the offer. (ht to reader RM)

    Original Post 6/23/25:

    The Offer

Chase is sending out an email with details of the new Points Boost information on the Sapphire Preferred card and on the INK Preferred card which takes away the flat 1.25% redemption option for a variable option, effective in October 2025.

They also note a special offer for new Sapphire Preferred cardholders who were approved within the past year-or-so:

    • Get a one-time $50 credit toward Chase Travel booking. That’s on top of the regular $50 annual hotel credit benefit. To redeem, just book your itinerary through Chase Travel by June 23, 2026.
    • Some INK Preferred cardholders are getting the $50 credit email as well.

    Our Verdict

Nice bonus $50 credit. I believe this $50 shows up as a credit in Chase Travel (?) while the $50 hotel credit comes as a statement credit. You should be able to use up both on $100 hotel booking.

Seems like they are trying to soften the blow of the new Points Boost which most of us consider a downgrade. For some reason they’re only offering the credit to new-ish cardholders.

  • Chase Giving Some Sapphire/Ink Preferred Cardholders Extra $50 Chase Travel Credit

    Chase Sapphire Preferred $50 Credit

🔃 Update: More people receiving emails or seeing this offer in Chase Travel. (HT: Brooke in DDG Facebook Group

Chase sent out email today explaining the new Points Boost program for Sapphire Preferred and Ink Preferred cardholders. I received the email for my Chase Sapphire Preferred which I got recently with a 100,000 bonus plus 30,000 Membership Rewards points from Rakuten (which is probably better than the new Sapphire Reserve bonus).

But that email also included a surprise $50 credit toward Chase Travel:

    • On top of your $50 hotel credit, cardmembers who joined within the last year can now enjoy a little something extra—a one-time $50 credit toward any purchase on Chase Travel. To redeem, just book your itinerary through Chase Travel by June 23, 2026.

This credit is going out to Ink Preferred and Sapphire Preferred cardmembers who joined within the last year only.

    $50 Credit Terms

The promotional credit is valid for one year from the date it becomes available to you in Chase Travel and can be applied at checkout for purchases made through Chase Travel. The promotional credit is not valid for purchases made through FROSCH and its family of travel companies, or through Reserve Travel Designers unless booked directly through Chase Travel. The promotional credit is not valid for purchases made prior to when it becomes available in Chase Travel. The promotional credit is valid for a one-time use only, if you apply the promotional credit to a transaction less than $50, you will forfeit the remaining balance. If a portion of your purchase is cancelled due to an issue with the service provider, you will receive a new promotional credit for the amount cancelled.

    Guru’s Wrap-up

This is one of the best offers that we have seen recently for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. You can earn the usual bonus of 60,000 bonus points after $4,000 in purchases in your first 3 months, plus a $300 statement credit on Chase Travel purchases within the first year.

This offer is publicly available on the Chase website, but also through referral links. Only newly generated referrals will show the offer. That would get you another 10,000 points if you apply through a referral from friends or family members.

    Our Verdict

Reader Michael reports this in branch offer. An extra 10,000 points for an extra $2,000 in spend is a good deal for most people, although if you have P2 refer you you’ll be better off with the other offer. We will still add this to the best credit card bonus page and mention it in the other posts.

Unfortunately this isn’t as good as the in branch offer for 85,000 points. It’s a bit more work having to go in branch but worth it for the extra points in my opinion. The 75,000 offer for the Chase Sapphire Reserve is the same in branch/online though. We won’t add this 75,000 offer to the best credit card bonuses due to the higher in branch offer.

    Eligibility

The product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of any Sapphire credit card who received a new cardmember bonus within the last 48 months.

These cards are also subject to the Chase 5/24 rule. If you’re not sure how to check your 5/24 status, follow these steps.

    Chase Is Matching These Offers

If you have applied for one of these two cards recently, you can contact Chase and ask them to match these improved offers. Chase seems to be matching those cardholders who have applied within the last 30 days.

For the Chase Sapphire Preferred card they are only matching the 75,000 online bonus. The extra 10,000 bonus is an in-branch only promotion.

    Guru’s Wrap-up

Chase is offering a 75,000 points bonus for the Chase Sapphire Reserve in-branch, as well as a 85,000 bonus for Chase Sapphire Preferred. The online offers are both for 75,000 points.

So if you are planning to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, it’s best to visit a local branch if you have one near you. Or you can wait and hope that these online offers also become available through referral links, and apply through a friend’s or family member’s link.

    Our Verdict

    Chase sapphire preferred:

We saw a 90,000 point offer last year. This isn’t as good as that offer but I still think it’s worth doing and think it’s unlikely we see a better offer than this in the next year. Because of that we will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

    Chase sapphire reserve:

Sapphire reserve is the best bonus we’ve seen for awhile as well, most recent increased bonus was 70,000 points. If you can make use of the benefits and don’t mind the high annual fee then this card is worth considering as well. Just remember you can’t get both of these cards so you will have to chose the offer you prefer.

Chase Allows Referrals To Both Sapphire Cards

Chase has made am improvement to its referral program when it comes to its two popular Sapphire credit cards. You can now refer for either card as long as you hold one of the cards in the Sapphire family.

Until now you needed to have the Chase Sapphire Reserve card in order to refer another person to apply for Chase Sapphire Reserve. Similarly, you need to have Chase Sapphire Preferred in order to apply someone else for the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

The change happened either yesterday or the day before, and was first reported by Travel on Points. When you go to refer from your Chase Sapphire Reserve or Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you’ll see the new option there.
