It’s like they never left. With the 2000s slowly creeping back into our closets, UGG boots are having a major resurgence, and we’re happy to report that this season’s comfiest shoe is also a celebrity favorite. Some of the biggest champions of the UGG renaissance include Bella Hadid, whose cool-girl styling of platform UGGs and slouchy white socks is now permanently seared into our brains. Keke Palmer, meanwhile, wore low-rise platform UGGs with her denim-on-denim ensemble at New York Fashion Week.

UGGs originally built a following rooted in coziness, but this time around, they also have aesthetic appeal. New releases like the Dipper boot, promoted by Cardi B and Natalia Bryant, feature trendy platform soles with a form-fitting design, contouring the foot like Balenciaga’s viral sock-sneakers. And while you can still get your hands on plush UGG slippers for at-home comfort, celebrities are now marketing the boots in particular as a legitimate form of streetwear.

Lori Harvey, for example, paired the Dipper boot with a purple cargo miniskirt and casual white tank top. Vanessa Hudgens also broke out the UGGs for her Bachelorette trip to Aspen, going the more functional route with wool-lined hiking boots but still playing to UGG’s latest era with an oversize baseball jersey and leggings.

The celebrity consensus wants us to believe that the boots are new and improved, but if you ask us, UGGs were always a wardrobe staple. It’s just that now, more people are giving them the respect they deserve. Read on to shop some of the buzziest styles celebrities are already loving this winter.

  • Ariana Grande Wins the “Ugly”-Shoe Trend With These Deflated-Balloon Heels

Ariana Grande Wins the “Ugly”-Shoe Trend With These Deflated-Balloon Heels

    [ad_1]

Ariana Grande’s latest heels really pop. In an Oct. 23 Instagram gallery, the singer and actor drew footwear inspiration from the land of Oz, trading ruby slippers for a pair of yellow Loewe heels covered in deflated balloons. The imaginative shoes feature hand-embroidered bunches of latex, with balloons sewn onto 3.5-inch heels to create a unique, bubbly texture. Aside from the unconventional medium and puffy exterior, the borderline comical shoes are also lined in leather (not that you could really tell).

Grande’s feet practically disappeared within rubber mountains of premature party decor. She let the balloons have their moment, styling them down with light-wash jeans and a cozy sweater. Other celebrities braving the same shoes leaned into the drama, such as Indya Moore, who wore the heels with a draped minidress at Loewe’s fall show during Paris Fashion Week. No matter who they’re worn by, the heels are a prime example of the “ugly”-shoe trend — an increasingly popular movement lifting up unusual footwear and challenging what is and isn’t aesthetically acceptable.

Thanks to Creative Director Jonathan Anderson, the balloon shoes, aptly called the Comic Balloon Pump, are not Loewe’s first venture into the avant-garde. Previously, the fashion house debuted sandals made entirely out of pom-pom tinsel, heels draped with giant bows, and chunky pumps that look like they belong to Minnie Mouse. “It’s classic Jonathan genius, this playful kind of nostalgia,” Greta Lee told Harper’s Bazaar after wearing a pair of the tinsel shoes herself, noting Anderson’s use of innovative materials on leather. “It almost looks like armor but it also kind of looks like skin.”

In Grande’s case, maybe the balloon shoes do serve as armor of sorts. Or maybe they’re just reminders not to take anything in life too seriously. In any case, scroll through her post to see how she brought the party in a pair of her own.

  • Dressing For Her Age? Martha Stewart Jokes She’s Dressed the Same Since 17

Dressing For Her Age? Martha Stewart Jokes She’s Dressed the Same Since 17

    [ad_1]

When it comes to fashion, Martha Stewart knows age is just a number. In the past year alone, she’s stepped out in various designer ensembles, launched a clothing line, and made history with her own Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover. But despite all her industry success, Stewart still has people telling her to start “dressing her own age” — a confusing concept she wholeheartedly rejects.

“Dressing for whose age?” she challenged Page Six after the topic was brought up at the Fashion Group International Night of Stars in NYC on Oct. 17. “I don’t think about age,” Stewart said, adding that people only get more fabulous in their senior years. She was the walking proof that night at the gala, wearing a glittery monochromatic boucle suit with a rosette detail from designer Dennis Basso. Recently, she also received praise for her sequin 49 by Andrew Yu dress featuring a thigh-high leg slit. Commenters gave her bold wardrobe high praise, excited to see Stewart continuously proving fashion does not have an age limit.

Getting older doesn’t mean you stop having fun with fashion, and Stewart lives her life accordingly. “I’ve dressed the same since I was 17,” Stewart said. “If you look at my pictures on my Instagram, I look pretty much the same.” Having modeled in her teens, Stewart has always had an express interest in fashion, walking in runway shows and working for brands like Clairol and Chanel. Looking back, she’s remained true to what she now describes as a “quietly fashionable” sense of style. Still, she isn’t afraid to take risks, previously wearing a minidress with sheer sleeves to the 2020 Vanity Fair Oscar Party, and gracing the red carpet in towering platform heels.

Ahead, see some examples of how she’s stuck to her signature style through the years.

  • Shop the $28 Amazon Corset Behind Hailey Bieber’s Sexy Vampire Costume

Shop the $28 Amazon Corset Behind Hailey Bieber’s Sexy Vampire Costume

    [ad_1]

As POPSUGAR editors, we independently select and write about stuff we love and think you’ll like too. If you buy a product we have recommended, we may receive affiliate commission, which in turn supports our work.

This Halloween, Hailey Bieber is out for blood. On Oct. 18, the Rhode Beauty founder debuted one of the first celebrity costumes we’ve seen this spooky season, and it did not disappoint. Channeling her inner vampire, Bieber’s scantily clad ensemble revolved around a specific red corset top, complete with tiny black bows, a low ruffled neckline, and lacy off-the-shoulder sleeves. She accessorized the sultry look with a fuzzy black miniskirt wrapped tightly around her hips, matching the gothic color palette with red embroidered stockings. The best part? Her corset is still available to shop for $28 on Amazon.

Although we can’t say with absolute certainty whether or not Bieber shops from Amazon herself, with an identical design and reviews going as far back as 2021, all evidence points to “yes.” Verified buyers gave the corset high praise, but some suggested ordering a size up, as the boning has a limited amount of give. The bustier includes stainless steel hooks that fasten in the front, along with lace-up black ribbon in the back to ensure a figure-hugging cinch. Bieber went the extra mile by adding fake blood around her lips, red costume jewelry, and a blood-soaked pearl choker, posing next to a skeleton dressed in a similar red and black fabric.

The fact that Bieber’s corset was so easily found on Amazon proves that celebrities need last minute costumes, too. Accessibility is a huge plus, and just because a costume is affordable doesn’t mean it can’t look good. It all comes down to the details, and in our opinion, Bieber totally nailed them. Read on to shop her sexy corset top, and make sure to order in time for Halloween.

  • Taylor Swift Is Breaking Out Her Tallest Heels Yet, Possibly Thanks to Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift Is Breaking Out Her Tallest Heels Yet, Possibly Thanks to Travis Kelce

    [ad_1]

She’s head over (high) heels. Since stirring up dating rumors with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift has reignited her love for heels, stepping out in some of her tallest pairs yet. In her song lyrics, Swift occasionally uses footwear to explain relationship dynamics, previously singing, “He didn’t like it when I wore high heels, but I do,” in the 2012 hit “Begin Again.” Now that she seems to be seeing a 6’5″ football player, Swift’s towering taste in shoes could be interpreted as a byproduct of her relationship — one that lets her stand tall.

Speculation about Swift’s new love interest started swirling in July, after Kelce said he hoped to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number at the Eras Tour. The two reportedly began “hanging out” in September — right around when we noticed Swift embracing taller heels. She started out with a bang, wearing 5.5-inch sparkling silver platforms to the VMAs afterparty. She later flexed her street style with velvet Aquazzura sandals in NYC and strappy black heels while out with Blake Lively. Heeled Louboutin boots also made an appearance at Kelce’s Oct. 1 game, plus Prada combat boots for her Arrowhead Stadium outfit.

The few times she’s gone out publicly with Kelce, Swift brought her heels along, opting for yet another pair of chunky lace-up boots for dinner on Oct. 15. Following a surprise appearance on “SNL,” she attended the afterparty in metallic sandals with similarly impressive heels from Italian brand Greymer. Commenters noted that because Swift is tall herself (standing at around 5’11”), her new partner may be the driving force behind this revamped shoe game. Leaning into this theory, Swift’s footwear does tend to evolve with her relationships, ranging from romantic ballet flats with Joe Jonas to sensible oxfords with Harry Styles.

High heels have a complicated past, but these days, they tend to convey power and confidence. Shoes certainly aren’t everything, but for someone as thoughtful as Swift, it’s exciting to witness her reclaiming the heels she loves, no matter the reason. See some of the best moments from Swift’s revived high heel era below.

It’s scary how much we love Target’s new Halloween slippers. The superstore’s new line of fuzzy footwear came perfectly timed for spooky-season dressing, featuring a whole host of themed designs to choose from. The colorways range from traditional black and white to bright orange, available in both closed-toe and slide styles. Choose from black cats arching their backs across fuzzy white sherpa, orange slides with cute jack-o’-lantern faces, or matching embroidered ghosts yelling, “Boo!”

Thankfully, the machine-washable slippers are just as practical as they are cute, using memory-foam cushioning and slip-resistant soles to ensure comfort and durability. Some of the closed-toe versions are also stuffed with fluffy fleece for even more coziness. But don’t just take our word for it. According to comments on TikTok, real-life shoppers say these seasonal slippers withstand the test of time. “No joke these slippers last forever I still have mine from last year,” one user wrote. “That brand of sandals is actually super nice,” another weighed in, pointing to the Dluxe By Dearfoams seller. “I’ve had a pair for a while now and they’ve held up really well, can’t wait to get one of these too.”

Given the high praise on TikTok, it’s no wonder this year’s styles are already going fast. The $20 slippers are currently on sale for $16 (when purchased online), and many are rushing to add to cart with plans to wear well beyond Halloween. “My whole closet is just going to be halloween stuff at this point,” one user joked in response to the viral footwear. “It’s a lifestyle.” Read on to shop your own pair and keep the spooky spirit going strong.

  • So Apparently Underwear Is Outerwear Now — Just Ask Kendall Jenner and Julia Fox

So Apparently Underwear Is Outerwear Now — Just Ask Kendall Jenner and Julia Fox

    [ad_1]

Celebrities are bringing their best lingerie out from under. In one of the more bizarre fashion trends to hit Hollywood, stars are choosing to style their underwear as outerwear, giving their skivvies a turn in the spotlight. The look — most recently worn by Julia Fox out and about in New York City — is not only a convenient way to show off your favorite underwear, but also a clever ploy to get the most wear out of expensive designer undies.

The underwear-as-outerwear pipeline started out modestly enough, finding its roots in the nostalgic visible-thong trend, before pushing the boundaries even further with the no-pants wave. As more and more pants left the chat, celebrities got creative with their waist-down dressing, rocking everything from nude briefs to sheer tights. Now, it seems the trend may have finally reached its peak, leading stars to view underwear as an agent of fashion rather than function.

Kendall Jenner wasn’t the first celebrity to step out with underwear over her clothes, but she did make headlines for doing so in a formal setting, attending the 2023 Met Gala afterparty in a sparkly sequin romper with a black thong layered over top. A year prior, Kylie Jenner also showed love to the blossoming trend, arriving at Paris Fashion Week with classic Loewe briefs worn over her black tights. Fox went a more whimsical route with her monochromatic ensemble, wearing high-cut ruffled bloomers over matching white pants. Still, the sheer variety in all of these outfits proves the trend can be achieved with just about any kind of underwear. Read on to see more celebrities wearing underwear over their clothes . . . in the name of fashion, of course.

  • These Male Celebrities Are Upping Their Purse Game, and We’re Here For It

These Male Celebrities Are Upping Their Purse Game, and We’re Here For It

    [ad_1]

Male celebrities have it in the bag. Recently, Jacob Elordi made headlines for his impressively curated collection of designer bags, showing off everything from a classic Burberry cross-body to an impossibly tiny Valentino bag. On Oct. 6, A$AP Rocky kept the momentum going with a cool Bottega Veneta bag, almost overshadowing Rihanna’s comically oversized clutch (. . . almost). It seems more and more prominent men are having fun with these costly handbags, integrating them into their fashion choices in new and progressively bolder ways.

Although designer handbags have long been a staple in women’s fashion, men’s fashion was initially slow on the uptake, eventually motivated by fashion icons like Pharrell Williams and the late Virgil Abloh. Some celebrities, like Drake, say they’re collecting bags for future partners they don’t have — and then giving some to fans at concerts, or storing them away where they’ll never be seen. But others are finally getting in on the trend for themselves, defying gender norms and rightfully flexing their outrageously beautiful purses.

“A lot of people laugh at me, but, you know, the bag’s worth more than their house,” sports bettor and bag collector Dave Oancea told GQ about his six Birkins back in 2020. “I just know that it’s dope, and it’s $100,000.” Seeing purses as a tangible token of wealth as opposed to an inexplicably gendered accessory might explain why so many hip-hop artists originally gravitated to the trend, with Snoop Dogg rocking monogrammed Louis Vuitton, Jay Z carrying his go-to Goyard, Cardi B and Offset stepping out with matching camouflage Birkins, and Gunna rapping about nabbing a Birkin.

In theory, bags are a delightful, gender-less pit to fill with whatever your heart desires. But on a deeper level, they’re also investments, trophies, and fashion statements. “I think it’s silly to think the shape of an object determines what gender it belongs to,” online personality Miss Jason told i-D in 2019. “We as a society really have to let go of this traditional way of thinking when it comes to how somebody looks or perceives themselves.” Our take? Designer handbags are for everyone with the bank account to enjoy them. Read on to see how male celebrities are rocking their purses like never before.

  • How Selena Gomez’s New Stylist Is Highlighting Her “Many Beautiful Layers”

How Selena Gomez’s New Stylist Is Highlighting Her “Many Beautiful Layers”

    [ad_1]

Erin Walsh knows what’s good for you. As the celebrity stylist behind Anne Hathaway’s bombshell style renaissance, she’s established herself as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand fashion fairy godmothers. Now, Selena Gomez is getting in on the magic. At the inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit, held in Los Angeles on Oct. 4, the star solidified her new style era in several jaw-dropping looks in partnership with Walsh. It appears Gomez began working with Walsh in June after many years with Kate Young.

Walsh soft launched Gomez’s fresh style over the course of recent award shows and Paris Fashion Week outings. Gomez first started turning heads with the red sheer illusion dress she wore to the 2023 MTV VMAs. Later, in Paris, she popped up in a polka-dot Jacquemus minidress and a sultry Versace slip.

“I think style resonates with people when we see someone really shining. My goal is always to harness someone’s best essence and share it with the world,” Walsh tells POPSUGAR. “There are so many beautiful layers with Selena, and her superpower of sharing her vulnerability with the world makes it pretty magical. The clothes part is somewhat incidental in this way, like the icing on a cake?”

“There are so many beautiful layers with Selena.”

More recently, Gomez attended her initiative’s benefit wearing a larger-than-life floral Rahul Mishra minidress, consisting of glittery purple petals that come together to form a delicate skirt. Gomez wore the sustainable look with strappy lilac sandals and statement earrings, leaving her hair down and straight. “The look aims to imitate the petals of an Iris flower through intricate hand embroidery,” the brand wrote on Instagram, showing the intensive process behind the making of the dress.

Later that evening, Gomez and Walsh turned out another glamorous look: a custom floor-length Valentino gown completely encrusted with silver crystals. The ensemble caught the light from every angle, featuring a halter neckline, a rosette detail, and a long train for added drama. “I also really love highlighting this cool, empowered, sensual, divine feminine,” Walsh notes. “I think we could all use a little bit of tapping into that lately.”

  • Miu Miu’s Colorful Bandages on the Runway Come With a Much Deeper Story

Miu Miu’s Colorful Bandages on the Runway Come With a Much Deeper Story

    [ad_1]

When the industry cuts deep, try a Miu Miu bandage. In the fashion house’s spring show during Paris Fashion Week on Oct. 3, models walked the runway wearing unusually visible bandages on their feet. The designer bandages wrapped around toes and heels in a wide variety of vivid colors, peeking out from beneath embellished sandals as models made their way across the catwalk. “We got Band-Aids today. Show accessories — this is a gift,” Gigi Hadid said in a TikTok captured by Dazed. “It’s so sweet and kind, I love it. It’s the best day ever.”

Others, like fashion editor Stella Bugbee, had a slightly different interpretation, explaining that this kind of “intentional styling,” however discreet, might carry a bigger message. “It’s the end of fashion month and these feet have done a lot of walking in uncompromising shoes,” Bugbee wrote on her Instagram Stories. “Nice to see this sly little bit of intentional styling. It also happened to work with the aesthetics of the show.”

Sasha Payton, a model and content creator who walked in this year’s New York Fashion Week, provided more context about the industry’s complicated relationship with footwear. “A season or two ago, we saw so many models falling, or their shoes breaking, or them just removing their shoes altogether,” Payton tells POPSUGAR. Although brands make shoes for their models, they don’t always know the exact sizes for every person who ends up being cast, as Payton explains. That’s not to mention the heels models often wear for their many castings. “Even if they’re comfortable, heels are heels, and after a while, being in the streets, running up and down the stairs of the subway, it starts to ache.”

“Even if they’re comfortable, heels are heels.”

This comes shortly after a photo of a model’s blistered heels went viral following a repost from National Geographic on Instagram. Captured by Dina Litovsky, the photograph was taken backstage at a Jason Wu runway show in 2019, and it honed in on a model’s bright red heels, practically screaming out in pain from beneath slingback heels. “Over the years, I have witnessed models with feet that were calloused and covered in band-aids — the bruises resulting from a combination of a grueling schedule and the shoes themselves,” Litovsky wrote in a Sept. 20 post.

Following the discourse, there was hardly a heel in sight at the Miu Miu show, letting the colorful bandages take center stage. “It’s obviously very intentional,” Payton says. “Like let’s make it fun. Let’s do the whole colorful thing and make it an accessory because this is the reality; sometimes bruises and all of this stuff are a thing, so we might as well make it functional.”

To her point, in its show notes, Miu Miu explained the intention to explore the “rationale of beauty,” juxtaposing more contemporary styles with classic prototypes in fashion. “Garments devised for specific purpose, functions, and events are remixed in unanticipated combinations,” Miu Miu wrote. “A maillot de bain with a cocktail dress, a petticoat with a blazer.” Or even a bandage at Paris Fashion Week. While it’s not enough to completely cover up fashion’s wounded past with footwear, we have to admit it’s certainly a creative start.

  • Between Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi, Elvis’s Real Accent Never Stood a Chance

Between Austin Butler and Jacob Elordi, Elvis’s Real Accent Never Stood a Chance

    [ad_1]

Elvis’s real accent has left the building. Following the release of A24’s “Priscilla” trailer, Jacob Elordi’s thick drawl is already being compared to Austin Butler’s unshakeable Southern twang. “Jacob Elordi looks and sounds like Elvis Presley; much more so than Austin Butler did,” one commenter wrote in reaction to the Oct. 3 video. Others had their doubts.

One person noted that the “goofiness” of Elordi’s Elvis accent might detract from the suspenseful nature of the Sofia Coppola-led film. Some also compared Elordi’s dialect to his hot-headed “Euphoria” character, Nate Jacobs. “Looks good but he sounds a little like the giraffe from the ‘Madagascar’ movie,” a particularly candid viewer wrote, referencing David Schwimmer’s lovable Melman.

Of course, Butler was not immune from accent-centric criticism either. Throughout his reign as the king of rock n’ roll, the rigorous schedule for Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” seemed to take a toll on his Southern California vocals. His movie accent intercepted speeches, popped up in daily conversations, and even became the subject of interviews, forcing him to evaluate just how immersed he really was. “I don’t think I sound like him still, but I guess [it must be] because I hear it a lot,” he told Variety in the press room at the 2023 Golden Globes. “I had three years where [Elvis] was my only focus in life, so I’m sure there’s just pieces of my DNA that will always be linked in that way.”

Now Elordi gets to take a turn in the proverbial hot seat, portraying a darker side to Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s relationship with a deep, gravelly accent to match. Elordi is used to playing the villain, and maybe that’s why his take on the elusive accent already seems somewhat familiar. At this point though, we’re not convinced any actor will completely nail it. Ultimately, both versions are artistic portrayals and should be treated as such. No matter what, the Elvis accent has reentered the cultural zeitgeist, and that’s what counts.

Ariana Madix Kicks Off “DWTS” With a Nod to Her Revenge Dress

    [ad_1]

Ariana Madix is once again dressing for revenge. During the Sept. 26 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” season 32, the reality star graced the stage in a fiery red costume reminiscent of the unforgettable revenge dress she wore to the “Vanderpump Rules” season 10 reunion. The sultry performance outfit featured similar cutouts, long sleeves, and a strip of red fabric across her stomach, with the addition of double thigh-high leg slits and sparkling crystal details for even more drama.

Madix initially wore the ab-baring design in the wake of #Scandoval after finding out her boyfriend of nine years was having an affair with one of her close friends. Her original look wasn’t technically a dress, but rather a crop top and matching maxi skirt — both from Mônot — but it definitely got the job done and made a statement. She debuted the re-created ensemble for a fitting tango performance set to “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld, dancing alongside a much more loyal partner, Pasha Pashkov.

As Madix explained prior to her first dance, “Dancing With the Stars” was something she decided to do in order to move on from the chaos of her very public breakup. “As a woman, cheaters suck, but you just showed anybody who is watching how you handle a cheater,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba told Madix in praise of her high-energy performance.

Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see whether Madix’s costumes include any other nods to her reality TV past, or if she’ll start an entirely clean slate. Either way, she’s excited to show off a side of herself you might not have seen before. “This is going to be a more confident, fun, and vibrant version of myself,” she said prior to the performance, per People. “Because I don’t need anybody else. I love me.”

  • This Fashion Month Belonged to ’90s Supermodels

This Fashion Month Belonged to ’90s Supermodels

    [ad_1]

Fashion’s first supermodels aren’t going anywhere. For a few years now, brands have enlisted the original ’90s supermodels — from the smiley Christy Turlington to the perpetually chic Kate Moss — in their runway shows. This past fall 2023 season, however, was especially focused on bringing back the industry’s most famous faces, honoring their careers and contributions to fashion as a whole. The recognition is well-deserved, of course, but what makes this the right time for such a resurgence?

The obvious answer is the new Apple TV+ docuseries “The Super Models” — a shiny exploration into the illustrious careers of Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, and Turlington. With recent fashion seasons criticized for leaving behind its mainstays for industry outsiders and influencers, nostalgia is somehow a timely solution. This resurgence has also perhaps been brewing since Versace brought together five ’90s icons for the grand finale of its spring runway show in 2018.

This year’s shows also lifted up their legends: Campbell graced several runways, even debuting her own 70-piece collection with PrettyLittleThing. That’s not to mention her happy front-row reunion with Moss at the Fendi show during Milan Fashion Week. Claudia Schiffer, meanwhile, closed the Versace show in an homage to the late Gianni Versace, as she was one of his original muses.

Edward Enninful, British Vogue editor in chief, also recently brought the supers together for his very last September issue. “What better way to celebrate than with four women who have, over the course of more than three decades, come to define the very idea of fashion itself: the original supermodels,” he wrote. The cover story went on to point out these women’s “rock star moves,” with Campbell speaking out about racial discrimination, Evangelista breaking records with Steven Meisel, and Crawford seamlessly navigating the tumultuous road from modeling to television. Without social media, they accrued supermodel status simply by acting like superstars.

Advances in social media prompted major — and debatably unwelcome — shifts in the cultural zeitgeist. Now, with fashion influencers facilitating major sales, the front row might look a little different than it used to. “Why spend money promoting on a billboard when you don’t know who’s driving past that billboard?” fashion content creator Ellie Zeiler prompted HuffPost in 2022. “You can just hire a fashion influencer and know that people are specifically going to that page for fashion content.”

Still, it’s a tough sell. If everyone has a platform, everyone has the chance to make it into Fashion Week, undermining the industry’s historic exclusivity. Think pieces debating whether or not influencers are ruining fashion for good only reemphasize this point. While publicists might be dealing with an increasingly flooded inbox, the fashion world was long overdue for a change.

Despite it all, the supermodel title transcends. Bringing the legends of the early aughts back to the runway signals a longing for the glamour of pre-social-media runway culture. In combination with the increased inclusivity made possible by the influencers of today, fashion might be on to something really super.

Natalia Bryant Can Now Add “Versace Runway Model” to Her Growing Fashion Résumé

    [ad_1]

Natalia Bryant might’ve just had her runway debut, but she was always destined for fashion. “My mom says, ‘Walk like Naomi but remember to be yourself,’” the oldest daughter of Kobe and Vanessa Bryant told Vogue prior to her first show. “‘Put your own style to your walk and always with your head held high.’” In fact, it’s partially thanks to her mom that Bryant decided to pursue modeling in the first place, signing with IMG Models in 2021 and joining a crew of talent like Ashley Graham and Gigi Hadid at the agency. Fast-forward to this year’s Milan Fashion Week, and she’s already walking alongside celebrities and industry icons like Kendall Jenner and Claudia Schiffer for Versace’s spring show.

Leading up to her first catwalk, Bryant introduced herself to the fashion world with a series of heavy-hitting projects, earning her stripes before ever stepping foot on a runway. In early September, she appeared in UGG’s new autumn campaign, joining model Aweng Chuol and rapper A$AP Nast. In 2021, she took time out of her freshman year at USC to grace the September cover of Teen Vogue, later attending the Met Gala in a sequin Connor Ives dress. She flexed more of her personal style at Vanity Fair’s 2023 Oscars afterparty, wearing a black velvet Monsoori gown with floor-length sleeves, and showing more love to Versace with a zebra-print midi dress in March.

“Versace does such a great job at making women feel empowered and strong. At the show, there was this electric energy and everyone was so sweet and inspirational,” she told The Zoe Report in March, seemingly unaware that she’d be walking for Versace herself in just a few short months.

In anticipation of her runway debut, Bryant asked a few of her fellow models if they had any helpful advice, sharing the answers on Vogue’s Instagram. “Just try to take in the moment and let yourself remember it,” Hadid responded before embracing Bryant backstage and expressing her pride.

Bryant’s mom — the woman who started it all — also shared her excitement following her daughter’s first runway. “I’m so proud of you! You did it mama,” she wrote on Instagram. And if the past two years serve as any indication, she’s only just getting started.

The ’90s icon closed the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week for the first time since joining Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Helena Christensen for an homage back in 2018. She graced the catwalk in a shimmering green-and-silver-checkered gown, joining models like Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid. “It’s basically molded onto my body. It fits me like a glove,” she told Vogue of her dress. Schiffer’s presence at the show was the ultimate full-circle moment, serving as a powerful reference to Gianni Versace’s 1995 spring show, which she also closed.

Schiffer shone on the runway, but her rare appearance was the finale to what ended up being an entire collection inspired by Gianni’s original show. The concept — brought to life by the legendary Donatella Versace — paid homage to her brother’s original mod looks with carefully tailored silhouettes, colorful free-flowing silks, and checkerboard patterns. Of course, that didn’t stop her from adding her own creative touches, including the sparkly embellishments on Jenner’s collar and the delicate beaded detailing across Schiffer’s reimagined gown. Schiffer has long been touted as one of Gianni’s original muses. Donatella herself even commented that Schiffer will “always be an inspiration” in February 2022 after the model praised the Hadid sisters’ re-creation of her 1995 Versace ad with Sylvester Stallone. “Donatella is just a wonderful, warm-hearted, gentle, genuine, nice person who really does care,” Schiffer told Vogue. “It’s just more than just a fashion show and ad campaign. It’s much more than that.” Read on to see how one of the most memorable models in Versace history returned to the runway after all these years.

  • Yes, Sophie Turner Wore TikTok Merch to Dinner With Taylor Swift

Yes, Sophie Turner Wore TikTok Merch to Dinner With Taylor Swift

    [ad_1]

PSA: TikTok merch is now acceptable attire for dinner with Taylor Swift. On Sept. 19, Swift and Sophie Turner made headlines for their spontaneous New York City dinner date, linking arms while walking out of Via Carota following the news of Turner’s split from Joe Jonas. Although the two initially sparked interest for the timeliness of their meeting, our eyes were glued to the actor’s unique sweatshirt instead.

The design seemed inconspicuous at first, the black sleeves wrapped tightly around her waist to hide any discerning details. Thankfully, as the city temperatures dropped, Turner layered the sweatshirt over her sparkly silver halter top, revealing it to be TikTok merch from content creator Jake Shane (aka octopusslover8). She styled the sweater with baggy gray trousers, light-blue sneakers, and a gold chain necklace.

Shane is a 23-year-old comedian previously linked to celebrities like the Jonas Brothers, Sofia Richie, and fellow TikTok star Alix Earle. He built a following thanks to his imaginative retelling of historical events and “p*ssy PSAs” containing hilariously candid updates. “The way I’m shaking because Sophie Turner is fully wearing ‘puss casino’ in that,” Shane said in a Sept. 20 TikTok, pointing to Turner’s crewneck. The “puss casino” graphic (although predictably sold out) features a winning slot machine illustration with the words “Jackpuss!” written in red across the top and “good p*ssies go to heaven, bad p*ssies go to Vegas” along the back.

Without reading too much into Turner’s merch, she and Jonas did have a Las Vegas wedding in 2019, and the Jonas Brothers formerly collaborated on a handful of videos with Shane back in April. At the very least, Turner’s unpretentious cover-up points to her apparent closeness with Swift, who also dated Jonas circa 2008. While Swift was not spotted rocking any merch of her own, we already know she found the humor in the outfit. See Turner fully embracing her TikTok era below.

  • Simone Rocha’s Bejeweled Platform Crocs Know No Bounds

Simone Rocha’s Bejeweled Platform Crocs Know No Bounds

    [ad_1]

On Sept. 17, Simone Rocha’s spring 2014 runway show debuted a collection of suspiciously familiar footwear bedazzled beyond all recognition: Crocs. The modest shoes — known primarily for their comfort and utter convenience — got a complete face-lift in honor of London Fashion Week, and we now need every single pair.

While still maintaining the integrity of the traditional Crocs, the new collaboration added black and white crystallized rims, delicate flower embellishments, and massive pearl beads for extra glamour. Rocha (literally) took the shoes to the next level with chunky platform soles and translucent resin material, essentially sending models down the runway in designer flatform Crocs. The typically casual, comfortable walking shoes accompanied dreamy sheer slips dotted with bows and decorated with ribbon, borderline bridal dresses, and a bright red satin set, speaking to one of the most prominent color trends on this season’s runways. Designer Rocha even stepped out to take her bow in a pair herself, styling her Crocs with a matching black button-down dress.

The flashy Crocs were impossible to miss, but they are already accustomed to the spotlight. Previously, the brand made headlines with Balenciaga’s polarizing heels, showing up again on the New York Fashion Week runway for Christian Cowan’s spring 2022 fashion show. They made yet another appearance at London Fashion Week in 2022 for Susan Fang’s debut show, complete with custom jibbitz and matte colorways.

At their core, Crocs are reliable and functional, staying true to their roots at all costs. It’s perhaps this same unyielding authenticity that garnered the attention of so many fashion houses, including trendy brands like MSCHF and Benefit Cosmetics. “I’m not surprised that Crocs have been picked up by the fashion industry,” Lucy Thornley, Crocs’s VP of global trends, design, and product, told Vogue back in June 2022. “There’s something about our product — the shape and the form — that really lends itself to fashion. And it’s only going to continue.”

Read on to see Crocs’s sparkliest runway sighting yet.

  • What’s With All the Fluffy Shoes at London Fashion Week?

What’s With All the Fluffy Shoes at London Fashion Week?

    [ad_1]

This year’s London Fashion Week is the fluffiest we’ve ever seen it. While attending the Burberry show on Sept. 18, celebrities took a page out of Dr. Seuss’s book, wearing iterations of the fashion house’s iconic shearling sandals for an unexpectedly fuzzy phenomenon. Some, like Kylie Minogue, went totally classic, exposing their tufted heels and toes to create a head-turning statement piece. Others, like Jourdan Dunn, got even bolder with their Seussical shoes, stepping out with what seemed like entire truffula trees on their feet.

Given that fluffy heels are a signature Burberry item, it’s no wonder so many people found the style appropriate for the show. But in their excitement to debut the finest mules in all of Whoville, a multitude of Fashion Week attendees ended up wearing almost identical footwear, their fluffy heels intermingling around the runway.

To their credit, we imagine these sandals are among the comfiest shoes you could wear for a long day of watching runway shows (or helping the Grinch steal Christmas). The Seuss heels aren’t cheap (clocking in at around $1,190, for reference), but they are surprisingly versatile. Take it from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who styled her mustard yellow pair with a chic trench coat and oversize shades. If velvet rose sandals aren’t your thing, rest assured there’s plenty more to choose from. You could try the shaggy rounded-toe mules or Dunn’s strappy sandals, which were practically overflowing with fluff. So long as they’re fuzzy, you can’t go wrong.

Read on for some of our favorite fluffy shoes to come out of London Fashion Week (so far) and see if you would ever try the trend yourself.

  • “Selling the OC”‘s Party Planner Spills the Tea on Gio’s Life-Size Ice Sculpture

“Selling the OC”‘s Party Planner Spills the Tea on Gio’s Life-Size Ice Sculpture

    [ad_1]

When tuning in to the second season of “Selling the OC,” we didn’t expect the real estate to get overshadowed by a couple of ice sculptures. Then again, we’ve never seen ice sculptures quite like this. After cast member and realtor Gio Helou hit $100 million in sales, he turned to Kat Johann, event planner and owner of Parties by the Sea, to help throw a party in his honor (as one does). The celebration included the usual pleasantries — a surprise boat entrance, gorgeous flowers, and plenty of dramatic confrontations from the rest of the cast — but there was one detail even Helou himself couldn’t have dreamt up: a towering ice sculpture that looked just like him.

“The cast members were talking to the sculpture as if it were Gio.”

“I surprised Gio with the idea of making a life-size sculpture of himself. He, of course, loved the idea, and the best part was the cast’s reactions when they walked in and were completely blown away,” Johann tells POPSUGAR. According to her, the final creation, modeled in Helou’s image, was almost as tall as he is. (He stands at about 5’10”, for the record.) “There were several segments of the show where the cast members were talking to the sculpture as if it were Gio,” Johann says. “It was a lot of work but ended up being so beautiful, and the ice sculpture was the highlight!”

The “Selling Sunset” franchise has a peculiar prowess for lavish parties, setting the bar high with an especially controversial “Burgers and Botox” broker’s open and a zebra-friendly engagement party courtesy of the iconic Christine Quinn. With a new cast and plenty of ground left to cover, “Selling the OC” certainly had big shoes to fill, but Johann hasn’t backed down from the challenge.

She was originally tapped to plan the 100 Million Dollar Sale party just one week before it filmed for Netflix. No pressure. In addition to the massive Helou doppelgänger — which doubled as a place to hold glasses of champagne — Johann also designed a custom ice luge for the cast to take shots off of, carving “Selling the OC” and “Gio’s 100 Million” into the sides. Will “Selling the OC” bring the ice into season three? We can’t say for sure just yet. But watch for Johann next season, and rest assured that more spectacular parties are already underway.

  • Victoria Monét Explains Why She Didn’t Perform at the MTV VMAs

Victoria Monét Explains Why She Didn’t Perform at the MTV VMAs

    [ad_1]

Timing is everything. After dropping “On My Mama” this summer, many fans campaigned for Victoria Monét to join the impressive lineup of performers at the MTV VMAs on Sept. 12. Despite all the people championing her new music, the 30-year-old singer-songwriter still ended up at the award show as an attendee instead of a performer. Hearing the disappointment from her supporters, she explained the situation in more depth on social media.

“I see your advocation for me to have performed tonight and I’m so grateful to you!! Sincerely!” Monét wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “My team was told it is ‘too early in my story’ for that opportunity so we will keep working!” She went on to thank fans, maintaining a positive attitude as she pointed to the upcoming tour for her new album “Jaguar II,” with shows beginning on Sept. 15.

“My team was told it is ‘too early in my story.’”

Understandably, not everyone was comforted by this explanation. “I love you and your beautiful positive SWEET ASS SELF OMG but also they’re full of sh*t lol,” former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui responded. Others pointed out that Monét has been a game-changer in the music industry for years, making the reported reasoning behind her missed performance opportunity even more frustrating.

Disappointment aside, Monét previously told POPSUGAR in an Aug. 21 interview that she considers herself to be in her “level-up” era. “I feel really thankful whenever the opportunities come,” she said. “Obviously, in my life span, I don’t feel like a ‘new artist.’ I’ve been an artist since I was 17. So I’m never really surprised at doing new things still . . . I think everything happens when it’s supposed to.”

Maybe the VMAs weren’t ready for Monét just yet, but she still has faith they’re headed in her direction. “The things that I’ve been wishing for are on the way,” she said. And when they finally arrive, we’ll be ready.
