  • The CFDA Awards Red Carpet Saw Nipple-Baring Gowns and Naked Dresses

The CFDA Awards Red Carpet Saw Nipple-Baring Gowns and Naked Dresses

Hollywood’s most stylish gathered on Nov. 6 to celebrate the CFDA Awards, honoring mainstays and emerging designers in the industry at the American Museum of Natural History. From red carpet regulars like Kim Kardashian and Serena Williams to rising style stars like Lola Tung and Amelia Hamlin, celebrities wore standout looks to celebrate the best in fashion.

Anne Hathaway, who served as the evening’s host, kicked off the night in a floral double-denim ensemble from Ralph Lauren’s spring/summer 2024 collection and a layered Bulgari diamond necklace. Later on, she switched gears in a sheer lace Rodarte gown, featuring black floral embroidery and rosettes throughout. Hamlin and Tung also chose naked dresses for the occasion, with the former wearing a baby-blue nipple-baring gown from Alaïa and the “Summer I Turned Pretty” star wearing a Balmain minidress adorned with crystals.

Others chose classic all-black looks with pops of texture and playful details. Ahead of receiving the CFDA fashion icon award, Williams walked the red carpet in a custom sequin gown by Thom Browne, accented with giant statement sleeves and a long train. Kardashian turned heads in an open-back halter gown from Chrome Hearts, which she paired with impressive Barbie-foot heels. On the other hand, bride-to-be Vanessa Hudgens and Lori Harvey both exuded Old Hollywood glam. Hudgens wore a Vera Wang ballgown with matching leather opera gloves, while Harvey stunned in a fur set with a sky-high slit from Luar.

Whether it was the ever-popular naked trend or timeless glamour, celebrities pulled out all the stops at Monday night’s CFDA Awards. Keep reading to see all the best dressed stars from the show.

  • Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

Kim Kardashian’s Invisible-Strap Heels Are Playing Tricks on Our Eyes

It’s a miracle Kim Kardashian made it through the CFDA Awards without breaking an ankle. The Skims founder attended the Nov. 6 ceremony wearing a pair of platform “Barbie-foot heels” that doubled as an optical illusion. As she made her way up the American Museum of Natural History steps in New York City, the nearly invisible toe straps made it look as though her feet were attached to the stilettos by glue. Without the support of an ankle strap, we would’ve totally taken a tumble, but Kardashian ascended the stairs and posed on the red carpet like a pro with nary a wobble in sight.

As for the rest of Kardashian’s look, she wore a custom halter Chrome Hearts gown made of leather, embroidered with the label’s signature cross motif. The back of the dress was held together by metallic buttons that were undone at the bottom to create a slit, allowing her heels to peek out from underneath.

With the help of her go-to stylist, Danielle Levi, Kardashian finished the outfit with silver Chrome Hearts jewelry, a black manicure, and a tousled Pamela Anderson-style updo. During the award ceremony, she took the stage to present the fashion icon award to Serena Williams, the first athlete to receive the accolade.

The CFDA Awards gathered dozens of stylish celebrities to honor designers and stars shaping the fashion industry. Anne Hathaway hosted the event this year, arriving in a denim Ralph Lauren set and later changing into a red lace Rodarte gown. Other standout looks of the night included Lola Tung’s sheer embellished Balmain minidress, Mary J. Blige’s crystal-covered Christian Siriano gown, and Madelyn Cline’s strapless metallic Oscar de la Renta dress.

Check out the wild heels Kardashian wore to the CFDA Awards below, then look back at her style evolution through the years to see how much her footwear taste has changed over time.

  • How Ah-Niyah Gold Went From Performing on Broadway to Running Her Own PR Firm

How Ah-Niyah Gold Went From Performing on Broadway to Running Her Own PR Firm

In our long-running series “How I’m Making It,” we talk to people making a living in the fashion and beauty industries about how they broke in and found success.

Ah-Niyah Gold is a superhero of a fashion publicist. But this wasn’t a career she thought of pursuing until only a few years ago.

“It’s not that I didn’t see myself owning my own company,” she clarifies. “It just wasn’t something that crossed my mind. If anyone ever told me back then that this was what I would be doing, I would’ve a hundred percent laughed in their faces, like ‘Hell no, I will not.’”
