Celebrity Men Wearing Handbags Was the Cultural Reset I Didn't Know I Needed

Any fashion historian would tell you that the concept of men wearing handbags isn’t groundbreaking, but within the past year, this trend has bubbled up in ways that I haven’t seen in recent memory. My theory is that we’ve seen a rise in the popularity of the “man purse” because it directly reflects how fashion is used to challenge cultural norms. It’s no secret that style has always been used as a way to subvert gender conformity, racism, and sexism, but it feels incredibly fresh at this moment, as we’ve seen a slew of political policies passed around the world that erode the rights that women and members of the LGBTQ+ community have over their bodies within the last few years. From the overturning of Roe v. Wade to the countless pieces of legislation proposed to police drag performers and individuals dressing in a gender-nonconforming manner, there’s no shortage of legislation aimed at degrading ideas of bodily autonomy.

In a way, one could argue that the degradation of rights has given rise to a counterculture that centers on positively reframing ideas and values around traditional femininity. One only needs to reference the box-office numbers for the Barbie film, the virality of the “girlhood” fashion trend, and even men donning handbags as proof of such efforts. While art forms like film and fashion can not be held at the same level as other forms of political protest, they’re still imperative because they are a source of solace in times of uncertainty. After all, what’s more refreshing than seeing famous men embrace something as “feminine” as a handbag? Nothing, in my humble opinion.

While good-ole misogyny has reared its ugly head, seeing men carrying their little bags has acted as a cultural reset. It’s the receipts, proof, timeline, and screenshots I’ve needed to be assured that not all hope is lost. Although it might seem melodramatic, I know I’m not the only one feeling this way. With so much buzz on social media surrounding all the celebs spotted wearing designer bags, plus the continued allure of the quiet luxury movement, it’s safe to say this trend carries significant weight. If you’re still dubious about this trend, you’ll want to keep scrolling to see the examples of men wearing handbags on the runway and in real life that I’ve rounded up.

Sophie Turner Just Made Uggs Look Elegant at the Airport—Here's How

    [ad_1]

Up until very recently, I pretty much only wore Uggs to walk the dog and go to Pilates classes. But after wearing them for a long car trip earlier this month and finding them to be glorious, I’m adding travel days to my list of places where I wear Uggs. And Sophie Turner’s recent styling of a pair of Uggs for a flight has me even more convinced.

Turner was recently photographed at the airport wearing an Ugg outfit that was downright elegant. As cool as Uggs are, it isn’t that easy to make them look elegant, given how casual they are. The pair the Turner opted for was the brand’s wildly popular platform Tazz Slippers. She paired them with straight-leg jeans and a long black coat. As you’ll see, the coat ensured that she looked completely polished, even though she was wearing shoes with “slippers” in the name.

So, the moral of the story is that if you want to make Uggs look chicer for travel days (or any day), just pair them with a long wool coat. Done and done. Scroll on to shop Ugg slippers and a few coats that would look great with them.

Cassie made an unexpected appearance at Paris Fashion Week

The 37-year-old singer attended LGN Louis Gabriel Nouchi’s fall/winter 2024 menswear show on Wednesday, January 17, and was seated in the front row.

Cassie was fierce for the occasion, taking inspiration from the past in a charcoal brown blazer clad with retro shoulder pads. She went shirtless under the jacket, pairing the piece with wide-leg pants and pointed-toe chrome heels. She accessorized with squared sunglasses and wore her brunette mane straightened and parted to one side.

For glam, Cassie delivered drama with a dark cat eye that included purple shadow and dramatic lashes. Her brows were arched to perfection and her cheeks were covered in bronzer and blush. She topped the beat off with a glossy pout.

A new year brings new red carpet moments.  Hollywood’s leading ladies have been serving up major style inspiration while at award shows, parties, film premieres and more. We’re seeing little black dresses, glittering gowns and cutout frocks galore — all teamed with great glam, unforgettable hair and fabulous footwear.  Take the Golden Globes in Los […]

Cassie’s rare outing comes after she made headlines in November 2023 for accusing her ex-boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs of past sexual assault and abuse. She alleged in court documents first reported by The New York Times that Diddy forced her to have sex with “male sex workers” while “filming the encounters.” Cassie further claimed that Diddy “forced her into her home and raped her” in 2018.

Just one day after the lawsuit was filed, Cassie and Diddy settled. “I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” Cassie told Us Weekly through her attorney Douglas Wigdor in a statement. “I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support.”

Diddy also released a statement distributed by Wigdor: “We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love.”

Diddy’s lawyer, Ben Brafman, said that the settlement does not indicate that Diddy is guilty. “Just so we’re clear, a decision to settle a lawsuit, especially in 2023, is in no way an admission of wrongdoing,” Brafman shared in a statement to Us. “Mr. Combs‘ decision to settle the lawsuit does not in any way undermine his flat-out denial of the claims. He is happy they got to a mutual settlement and wishes Ms. Ventura the best.”

The speed of the settlement was likely due to legal restrictions, according to attorney Neama Rahmani. “This has to be one of the fastest settlements in American history. We’re talking about one day,” Rahmani exclusively told Us, after taking a look at the case. “The reason that this lawsuit was settled was probably the reason that it was filed in the first place. Cassie ran out of time.”

The lawyer, who was not part of Cassie’s legal team, explained to Us that some of her allegations were “a little bit older,” meaning the statute of limitations had run out.

Kate Moss Wore a Completely Sheer Lace Dress to Her 50th Birthday Party in Paris

    [ad_1]

When it comes to party dressing, no one does it with quite the level of finesse as Kate Moss, the ’90s supermodel who’s responsible for wearing one of the most iconic naked dresses of all time. Her 50th birthday party was never going to be an exception. For the momentous occasion, which started with lunch at Brasserie Lipp in Paris’s Saint-Germain district, Moss hosted an intimate dinner at Laurent followed by an after-party at the famed Ritz Paris. While her low-key lunch was more of a “leggings and fur coat” type of affair, according to a photo posted on the Instagram account of Brasserie Lipp chef Pascal Jounault, the evening’s lineup of activities called for a far more festive getup.

While en route to Laurent alongside her daughter Lila Moss, boyfriend Nikolai von Bismarck, and friend Haider Ackermann, the birthday girl was spotted donning a floor-length sheer dress made entirely of black lace. With it, she added a bevy of diamond jewelry, including bracelets and earrings, and a black Alexandra King cape lined with gold silk. Given the winter temperatures, she appeared to have swapped her cape for a much warmer piece of outerwear later on in the evening: a Penny Lane–esque Bob Mackie coat that makeup entrepreneur Charlotte Tilbury arrived at Laurent in, according to W

Below, see both versions of Moss’s 50th-birthday outfit, the likes of which will, no doubt, serve as party style inspiration for many years to come.

  • Jennifer Lawrence's '90s Date-Night Fit Reminded Me That This Jean Style Is *It*

Jennifer Lawrence's '90s Date-Night Fit Reminded Me That This Jean Style Is *It*

    [ad_1]

Another day, another date-night outfit reveal at Sushi Park for the celebrity set. This time around, the culprit was Jennifer Lawrence, who hit up Sunset Boulevard’s famous strip-mall omakase restaurant over the weekend alongside her husband Cooke Maroney looking effortless and cool as always.

For the occasion, the No Hard Feelings actress took inspiration from an era long before her dinner destination opened in 2006, when the street-style stars were Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Carla Bruni, and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. Wearing Bottega Veneta by Matthieu Blazy from head to toe, Lawrence’s midriff-baring sweater, belted dark jeans, and leather blazer were ’90s to a T. She also added a white tee for layering purposes, a thick brown belt, and one of the Italian fashion brand’s Tosca Intrecciato-leather shoulder bags. When I saw photos of the final fit, I knew immediately that this would be one of those JLaw looks that made it to best-dressed roundups for years to come. It’s just that good.

But what really stood out to me about the look was the same thing that always does when I scroll through ’90s street-style shots: the jeans. Back then, everyone had great jeans, usually perfectly distressed Levi’s. They fit just right and kept every outfit looking casual and uncomplicated, which is exactly what Lawrence’s jeans did for her ensemble. And the only trait hers share with those aforementioned muses is the fact that they’re cut in a classic, straight silhouette. Scroll down to see Lawrence’s date-night look and shop the timeless denim style that always comes out on top.

9 Practical Ways Celebs are Styling Non-Skinny Jeans This Winter

    [ad_1]

Who would’ve thought that we really meant it when we said a couple of years ago that the rise of baggy jeans would mean the demise of skinny jeans (for the time being, at least)? It’s something that had been threatened for years leading up to it actually happening. That said, I don’t doubt that skinny jeans will be back in one form or another, because that’s how fashion works. But for now, non-skinny jeans are still dominating the landscape, and celebrities are proving it day after day.

Given that it’s deep winter, celebs have been out and about wearing jeans more often than not, and providing plenty of styling inspiration while they’re at it. I’ve been keeping track for you, so keep scrolling for ten practical (because it’s cold and they’re busy) outfits celebs have been wearing this winter, and shop what you need to make them your own.

I Found Sofia Richie's Trendy It-Color Pants on Sale at Nordstrom

    [ad_1]

Sofia Richie just proved that she certainly knows how to dress for winter in L.A., in case you had any doubt. Richie stepped out for dinner over the weekend in a chocolate brown outfit which she paired with black accessories (no longer a color-pairing faux pas, as you can see). To elevate her casual, oversized wool coat, Richie opted for a monochromatic look and went with brown leather pants instead of jeans.

Richie’s perfect pants are from celeb-favorite brand Agolde. The interesting thing about Agolde’s “leather” pants is that they’re made of a blend of recycled leather, polyurethane, and polyester. It keeps the cost down and makes them easier to care for than 100% leather pants. Given this and that chocolate brown is a major color trend this season (but is also a classic), these pants would be a wise investment—especially since they’re currently  20% off on Nordstrom. Scroll to shop those and more Agolde leather pants.

Putting together an elegant party outfit is about as close to impossible as winning the lottery or getting a table at NYC’s Polo Bar… the two concepts just don’t really go together. Yet Anya Taylor-Joy managed to create one seemingly with ease for the Emmys after party she attended last night. For the event in West Hollywood, the The Menu actress chose an all-black ensemble consisting of a black leather miniskirt, matching go-go boots, and an hourglass-shaped blazer that added just the right amount of formality and glamour to the otherwise fun and playful look.

Hourglass silhouettes like Taylor-Joy’s are quickly becoming some of 2024’s most sought-after items, with trending styles by designer labels like Alaïa, Tory Burch, Versace, and Gabriela Hearst, as well as more affordable options that can be found at Aritzia, Reformation, and Helsa. The suit in question was designed by BMC Studio and featured two front pockets, a white button-down shirt with black buttons and a black bow tie. Perfetti, 35, accessorized the classic look with a pair of black patent leather Louboutin dress shoes and a silver diamond-shaped Neil Lane brooch.

I don’t know about you, but if there’s one thing I love more than fashion during award season, it’s the jewels that come along with it. If you’re a fan of oversize brooches, Real Housewives–sized diamonds, and anything sparkly, get ready: The 2024 Emmy Awards feel like the Super Bowl of the award-season jewelry scene.

Despite the no-necklace agenda that dominated the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, this year’s 75th annual Emmy Awards had stars dripping in their Monday best. Hollywood hasn’t always embraced statement jewelry on red carpets in recent years, instead opting for jaw-dropping ballgowns and sleek suits to make a statement. Tonight, however, it seemed like stylists’ minimalist sartorial visions were thrown out the window: from Selena Gomez’s 55-carat necklace to Sarah Snook’s stunning Cartier pieces, there were plenty of double-take moments and a few jewelry trends we’re already starting to spot this year.

Taylor Swift Just Wore This Rugged Sneaker Trend With Leggings

It’s far more likely to see Taylor Swift in a miniskirt and thigh-high boots than in leggings and sneakers, so when she wears athleisure, it’s worth talking about. (Let’s face it—we all talk about everything she wears, but I digress.) While heading to another recording session in New York yesterday, Swift traded her usual dressy digs for a comfortable fleece pullover, black leggings, and a pair of rugged sneakers that the fashion crowd would approve of.

While retro and quiet luxury sneakers have been the go-to styles recently, another trend that the fashion crowd is embracing is hiking sneakers (think Salomon XT-6), which is what Swift wore. In her continued support of Beyoncé, she wore a pair of sneakers from Adidas x Ivy Park—the Ivytopia Savage Trail Sneakers. The bad news is that they’re no longer available, but the good news is that they’re on several resale sites, including StockX. And I found several similar pairs that Swift would likely approve of. “Mean Girls” 2024 has officially hit cinemas around the globe, and let’s just say that the reviews are a mixed bag of praise, criticism and of course, an undying love for Reneé Rapp. Of the reactions shared to social media, there’s been a consistent comment about the styling choices for ‘The Plastics’ and Cady Heron. Some said it wasn’t what they imagined, while others made suggestions about how they would’ve done it. So, yes, we’re jumping on the bandwagon to recreate the “Mean Girls” reboot’s most iconic outfits for Regina, Karen, Gretchen and Cady.

The Y2K fashion moments served up by the 2004 “Mean Girls” were, and are, unforgettable. However, giving such a culturally significant film a reboot for a new generation means that the new film’s susceptibility to comparison skyrockets. For anyone planning to see the new “Mean Girls”, it’s important to remember the context. This version is set in the 2020s, an era that’s openly more body positive, social media reliant and focused on standing out.

With this sentiment and the influences of the original film in mind, read on for our reimagined “Mean Girls” outfits.

    Cady Heron (Angourie Rice’s Version)

Kicking off our new “Mean Girls” outfits — Angourie Rice’s Cady Heron needed a more drastic transformation that moved her from socially shy transfer student to Regina George rival. This outfit feels very IT girl but the wearer still feels approachable. Trendy and comfy, the heels aren’t as tall as her predecessor’s, but she’ll be taller than she was in her beater sneakers.

Using looks that already work for Reneé Rapp — blazers and boxy jackets — we’ve pulled together a loud luxury look that we think Regina George would rule the school in. She needs to look expensive and ready to conquer. So, the outfit combines brands loved by Gen Z, like Meshki, and some trendy designer items, like the Bottega Veneta Drop Earrings.

Olivia Rodrigo Wore the Dress Trend That's Set to Take Over This Spring

    [ad_1]

Not a week goes by that Olivia Rodrigo isn’t photographed wearing a trendy dress, and we love that about her. And although it’s deep winter right now, the one she just wore for a Q&A in L.A. is pure spring. In fact, it’s a trend that was all over the S/S 24 runways (of Stella McCartney, Alessandra Rich, and Balmain, to name a few). The trend we’re referring to is polka dots.
