  • Lady Gaga’s ‘Joker’ Premiere Lace Mask Is A Piece of Fashion History

Lady Gaga’s ‘Joker’ Premiere Lace Mask Is A Piece of Fashion History

    [ad_1]

Sorry method dressing, Lady Gaga is instead keeping to the fashion classics. For her first major appearance in promotion of Joker: Folie à Deux, Gaga avoided the recent surge of themed red carpet fashions, instead opting for a dramatic ball gown, blinding Tiffany & Co. jewelry, and a dramatic lace face mask that has quite the fashion pedigree.

Gaga, hand-in-hand with her fiancé Michael Polansky, arrived to the Venice Film Festival today in a plunging Christian Dior couture dress. The showpiece featured a low-cut front that flowed into a structured corset and criss-cross straps at the back. As simple as the dress proved to be, its tiered statement skirt made quite the impact as Gaga posed on the red carpet. She rounded out her look with a diamond necklace and earrings, a slicked-back bun, and a bold lace mask that partially obscured her visage. Perhaps it’s bat ear shape can be read as a slight nod to the Batman franchise, but Gaga’s choice was likely more informed by her love of fashion eccentricity.

The accessory, created by hat designer Philip Treacy for his 2001 couture show, is believed to be part of Daphne Guinness’s personal collection and was once worn by Isabella Blow, the famed fashion editor who nurtured both McQueen and Treacy’s talents. A version of the hat has even been displayed in museums for exhibits honoring Blow’s legacy.

For someone who started their career wearing experimental fashion—remember that meat dress?—it might be surprising to see Gaga not referencing her Joker character Harley Quinn even in the slightest. Still, this meaningful archival pull—Gaga is a self-proclaimed admirer of Blow’s—made just as much, if not more, of an impact than a themed dress would.

Gaga arrived to Venice earlier this week with Polansky, showing off her blinding engagement ring and a very “Ladies Who Lunch” polka dot dress by La Roxx. She paired her mini with sheer tights, sleek stilettos, and a half-up, half-down hairdo.

For a Joker photo call this morning, Gaga slipped into an elegant Christian Dior couture dress. And although she’s in Italy, she topped off the ankle-length piece with the ultimate French girl accessory: a black beret.

So far, Gaga is steering far, far away from themed dressing when it concerns her Joker press style. And considering that Gaga’s positioning herself for another Best Actress nomination at the Oscars, expect even more Old Hollywood elegance from where these moments came from.

    Franco Origlia/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

After the Joker photo call earlier in the day, Gaga and her co-star Joaquin Phoenix later discussed their appearances in the Todd Phillips-directed film which has been described as a “dystopian musical.” The film follows Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) and his love interest Harley Quinn (Gaga).

Despite a heavy musical elements, Gaga pushed back saying “It’s very different,” when compared to a typical musical. “The music is a way to give the characters a way to express themselves because the dialogue wasn’t enough,” she added.

Jenna Ortega slayed another Beetlejuice-themed outfit.

Ortega, 21, stepped out in a custom Harris Reed gown at the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice premiere in London on Thursday, August 29. Her gown featured a structured circular neckline complete with built-in cups, a fitted peplum top and a teal-and-black skirt. Ortega accessorized with a white purse in the shape of Beetlejuice’s house, black velvet gloves, diamond earrings and Brandon Blackwood heels.

For glam, Ortega donned soft makeup including rosy cheeks, terra-cotta lips, mascara and winged eyeliner. Her brunette hair was parted to the side and slicked down in a straightened style.

At the premiere, the Wednesday actress posed with Winona Ryder, who plays Lydia Deetz, her onscreen mom. Ryder, 52, stunned in a black custom Prada dress featuring a scoop neck, long sleeves and a pleated midi skirt complete with a sequin lining.

Ryder’s makeup featured black eyeliner, smokey eyeshadow and long lashes. She styled her brunette hair in an updo featuring a bun with her ends poking out and straightened bangs.

This isn’t the first time Ortega, who plays Astrid Deetz in the movie, has rocked a Beetlejuice-inspired accessory. Earlier this month, she wore a Thom Browne ensemble resembling Ryder’s costume in the 1988 movie. Her get-up consisted of a navy blue cardigan featuring gold embroidery on her chest, a collared blouse and a plaid green skirt. She teamed the look with a book-shaped purse that read, “Handbag for the recently deceased,” referencing the Beetlejuice guidebook for new spirits in the afterlife.

  • Ella Emhoff Brought This Gen Z Trend to the Democratic National Convention

Ella Emhoff Brought This Gen Z Trend to the Democratic National Convention

    [ad_1]

A fashion star was born when Ella Emhoff sported an embellished Miu Miu coat to the 2021 inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Since that moment, and with an IMG modeling contract under her belt, Emhoff has brought a rarely-seen fashion sense to the national political scene thanks to her role as America’s Second Daughter. The California-native is the youngest child of Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and the stepdaughter of Vice President Harris.

Emhoff, who resides in Bushwick, Brooklyn (some jokingly referred to her as “The First Daughter of Bushwick”), has walked the runways of brands like Proenza Schouler and Maisie Wilen since her catwalk debut in 2021. Off the runway, the model’s wardrobe is full of quirky knitwear, dresses worn over pants, and cheeky accessories like the Puppets and Puppets cookie bag she wore in 2022. For more formal occasions like red carpets and movie premieres, Emhoff still abides by her elevated art school aesthetic, albeit with pieces like sheer black dresses and chic power suits mixed in.

Below, a look back at Ella Emhoff’s style evolution, from Paris Fashion Week to the White House.

For the final night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Emhoff showed off her Gen Z bonafides. She wore a custom dress from the designer and TikTok creator Joe Ando. Emhoff paired her princess dress with white ankle-length socks, trendy ballet slippers and a flower she personally crocheted that was attached on the side.

  • Has Kamala Harris Found Her New Favorite Designer?

Has Kamala Harris Found Her New Favorite Designer?

    [ad_1]

Kamala Harris hasn’t officially accepted the Democratic nomination for president—she will do so on Thursday—but her surprise appearance at the DNC Convention last night was brimming with meaning.

The Vice President emerged on stage in Chicago to speak in support of President Biden, wearing a tan suit designed by Chloé’s buzzy creative director, Chemena Kamali. With less than a year on the job, Kamali has been wracking up celebrity endorsements since taking over the reins at the French brand—everyone from Beyoncé to Jennifer Lopez have worn her Boho designs recently. Harris’s Chloé outfit featured a traditional suit jacket, lined with black buttons, and wide-leg dress pants that pooled beneath her. The Vice President paired her tailoring with a white pussy bow blouse.

Harris’s suit quickly made waves on social media, with users drawing comparisons to an outfit President Barack Obama wore in 2014. During a news conference regarding ISIS in Syria, the former President donned a tan suit that drew ire from conservative pundits. Fox News called Obama “unpresidential.” Former Congressman Peter King absurdly told reporters “There’s no way, I don’t think, any of us can excuse what the president did.” Obama, and much of the general public, poked fun at the conservative outrage regarding his choice of suit. And, as every bit of Harris’s wardrobe is carefully chosen, it looks as though she did, too. Though her suit erred more taupe than tan.

    Alex Wong/Getty Images News/Getty Images

Harris is no stranger to Kamali’s Boho chic designs, having worn an emerald green cape dress to a State Dinner earlier this year. Her gown was designed with a floor-length silhouette and statement sleeves. After decades working behind the scenes (including an earlier stint at Chloé under Phoebe Philo), the buzz that the German-born Kamali has been generating since being appointed as creative director in October 2023 has been one of the biggest stories in fashion this past year.

Truly, it’s no wonder Harris would wear one of Paris’s most talked-about designers—even if it is tradition for Presidential candidates to don American brands (to be fair, her opponent is known for his own penchant for European suits). Aside from her own style bonafides, at one point, it was rumored that Harris was working with the celebrity stylist Karla Welch who counts Justin and Hailey Bieber as clients.

    Tasos Katopodis/Getty Images News/Getty Images

Throughout her rise to the Vice Presidency, Harris has developed a wardrobe unlike any other major political figure in American politics. During her and President Biden’s 2021 inauguration, Harris donned a purple coat from the New York brand Christopher John Rogers. Purple, of course, is viewed as a sign of bipartisanship. She’s also championed a diverse sect of American designers like Sergio Hudson (she’s taken a special liking to his bold power suits), Pyer Moss, and Joseph Altuzarra.

And with Harris rearing to accept the Democratic nomination for president in two days time, there’s no telling as to what she has up her sleeve next.

  • Sabrina Carpenter’s Crystalized Dress Blings-Out the Butter Yellow Trend

Sabrina Carpenter’s Crystalized Dress Blings-Out the Butter Yellow Trend

    [ad_1]

Sabrina Carpenter’s version of the butter yellow trend is all about capital-B Bling.

For the Variety Power of Young Hollywood event last night, the “Espresso” hitmaker lit up the red carpet in a crystalized floor-length stunner. Although the silhouette of Carpenter’s pale yellow Miu Miu dress was fairly standard—a form-fitting corset bodice accented by a curve-hugging skirt—its all-over embroidery proved to be quite the attention getter. The top of the dress was trimmed with silver sequins before cascading into an almost web-like effect down below. There were also strands of crystals placed along Carpenter’s waist to mimic the look of a thin belt. Carpenter kept accessories to a minimum, instead letting her bedazzled outfit serve as wearable jewelry for the evening. She styled her signature blonde locks in a tousled, curly hair style and opted for a nude lip and bronze eyeshadow.

Butter yellow —the fashion antithesis of neon Brat green—has been making rounds among celebrities this summer. Everyone from Hailey Bieber to Jennifer Lawrence have dabbled in the trend. But Carpenter’s blinged-out dress proved to be one of the more extravagant twists on the fairly subdued look thus far.

    Gilbert Flores/Variety/Getty Images

In fact, it looks as though Carpenter has taken a special liking to pale yellow party dresses. For her 25th birthday in May, the singer slipped into an ultra-mini dress inspired by Kate Hudson’s How to Lose a Guy In Ten Days character, Andie Anderson.

Her satin birthday look was also trimmed with crystals, mainly placed along the neck and waistline, and featured a leggy side slit. Like Hudson’s famed floor-length gown from the ’00s cult-classic, Carpenter’s mini version was completely open at the back.

Between her crystalized Miu Miu and her glossy birthday mini, Carpenter certainly has put her own spin on the color trend. Others have mostly opted for solid fabrics and toned-down silhouettes—a far cry from the blingy crystals Carpenter has gravitated towards.

Carpenter has a song of the summer contender in “Espresso” and, now, she’s all-in on the “It” girl summer trend.

  • How The Bombshell Headscarf Became The Celeb Accessory Of The Summer

How The Bombshell Headscarf Became The Celeb Accessory Of The Summer

    [ad_1]

During a summer full of mesh shoes and raffia shoulder bags, one statement accessory in particular has cut through the noise: the trusty headscarf. But, how exactly did something once worn by Brigitte Bardot and Jackie Kennedy on the beaches of Capri and Saint Tropez suddenly work its way into the summer wardrobes of Hailey Bieber, Beyoncé, and Kendall Jenner?

Well, for starters, the styling trick—basically, either a patterned or brightly colored scarf tied underneath one’s chin—is fairly simple to pull off. But it also evokes a sense of nostalgia, in specific the glamorous oceanfront styles of 1950s and ’60s starlets. And if there’s one thing about celebrity fashion nowadays, vintage references are just as, if not more, en vogue than items that are actually new.

During a recent trip to Mallorca, Spain, a bikini-clad Kendall Jenner used a patterned silk scarf to not only wrap around her head, but also to wear as a teensy mini skirt. Hailey Bieber has made the head scarf a hallmark of her recent style, too, with her most prominent co-sign of the trend coming during her baby shower. She wore a sheer Jacquemus dress with a matching butter yellow head scarf and angular sunglasses. The Rhode founder also presented another iteration of the head scarf at Coachella when she wore a cheetah print muffler on top of a Fila baseball cap.

    Manchester Daily Express/SSPL/Getty Images
    @danixmichelle

For the most part, stars have kept their iterations of the head scarf in line with the high-glam, elevated versions worn in decades past. There’s the simplicity of 1950s Audrey Hepburn in, say, the way Elsa Hosk softly wraps a white scarf around her hair while wearing with a linen skirt suit. And the nonchalance of Bardot in the way Jenner turned her head scarf into a beach cover-up.

But as much as fashion girls are nodding to a bygone era, there’s a handful of scarf-clad stars who are hollering “Yoo-Hoo, Boys!” instead.

    Bert Hardy/Picture Post/Getty Images

The Yoo-Hoo brigade kicked off in Paris this spring when Sabrina Carpenter paired a custom Jacquemus swimsuit and skirt with a Bardot-esque head wrap. Beyoncé, while yachting in the Hamptons, had her turn in a white sundress that she decked out with a matching white bandana.

At Cannes, Hunter Schafer brought the trend to the red carpet. Though her custom Prada head accessory could more so be considered as a kerchief—or, a piece of fabric used to cover the hair—rather than the chin-wrapped versions seen elsewhere.

    @jacquemus
    @beyonce
    Mondadori Portfolio/Mondadori Portfolio/Getty Images
    @danixmichelle

Celebrities are, mostly, wearing their headscarves with some sort of body of water close by—like new-gen model Alex Consani’s metallic cabana moment—but the general public seem to be adopting the style to a variety of locales. If the guests at Copenhagen Fashion Week are anything to go by, it won’t be long until the scarf is only classified as a cold-weather accessory.

Oops, she wore it again! Blake Lively ensured all eyes were on her as she paid tribute to an iconic pop star at the New York premiere of her latest film, It Ends With Us.

Lively, 36, hit the film’s red carpet event at the AMC Lincoln Square Theatre on Tuesday, August 6, rocking the memorable Versace butterfly dress originally worn by Britney Spears in 2002.

The mom-of-four, who attended the event with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, paid tribute to Spears, 42, via an Instagram Story that evening.

“Today’s mood. The ultimate queen who made us all want to sparkle and write and share our stories,” Lively wrote alongside a photo of Spears wearing the gown almost two decades ago. “Britney, us millennials all have a story of a moment, or of years that you made us want to shine and inspire awe, with strength, and joy and immensely hard work. Thank you for your example and your contribution to women telling their stories. So excited about your Biopic and all you have to come.”

Lively, who plays the central character of Lily Bloom in It Ends With Us, a big screen adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s acclaimed 2016 novel, confirmed on the red carpet that the dress did indeed belong to Spears. “It is Britney’s actual dress,” Lively told a reporter for People at the event. “It should be in the Smithsonian or the Met, but it’s on me … I feel so lucky.”

Lively’s red carpet look isn’t the only Spears-inspired throwback sparked by the arrival of It Ends With Us. The film will also honor the singer through the inclusion of her 2003 hit song, “Everytime.”

Reynolds, meanwhile, also had some fun with his ensemble on Tuesday, opting for an olive green suit paired with a white floral boutonniere in what appeared to be a tribute to his wife’s onscreen character.

The Deadpool & Wolverine star, 47, proved to be a loyal supporter to his wife, bringing his Marvel costar Hugh Jackman along to join in on the celebrations.

Lively, who shares James, 9, Inez, 7, Betty, 4, and Olin, 18 months, with Reynolds, has maintained a steady stream of stunning floral gowns as she continues her press tour for It Ends With Us, which hits cinemas on Friday, August 9.

Charli XCX’s Best Red Carpet Moments Are Cult Classics (But They Still Pop)

    [ad_1]

Charli XCX’s red carpet style has one major factor in common with her genre-bending music: range. There was the singer’s punk era circa the mid-2010s, her futuristic Pop 2 moment shortly after, and, more recently, her Brat summer phases.

Throughout it all the Grammy-nominated singer has mastered the art of statement fashion on the big stage, cozying up to some of fashion’s most exciting and avant-garde labels like Marni, JW Anderson, Vivienne Westwood, and Loewe. Charli has always been a fan of form-fitting gowns on the red carpet, often accented with some sort of unexpected accessory or bold beauty moment, but also isn’t afraid to mix in matching separates or tailoring from time to time. • How the Balenciaga City Bag Became Every It Girl’s Must-Have Accessory

How the Balenciaga City Bag Became Every It Girl’s Must-Have Accessory

    [ad_1]

Few It bags better define an era than the Balenciaga Motorcycle. Introduced during the fall/winter 2001 show, toward the beginning of creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s 15-year run at the hallowed fashion house, the Motorcycle soon became a fixture on the arm of every starlet and celebutante.

As ubiquitous as low-slung jeans and Uggs, the slouchy tote, with its signature lariats, zippers, and rugged hardware, was an oft-photographed red carpet and music-festival staple—carried by everyone from Hilary Duff and Sienna Miller to Nicole Richie and the Hilton sisters. The decade’s much-copied fashion plate du jour, Mary-Kate Olsen, famously sported a minty green version that was as much a part of her fabulously disheveled mien as her oversize sweaters. (Like Richie, who owned a Motorcycle in a range of bubble gum colors, Olsen would go on to acquire a veritable collection of the carryalls.)

For all its high-profile visibility, the Motorcycle almost didn’t come to be. When it was first shown as a prototype on the runway, Balenciaga bigwigs were reluctant to put the unstructured, logo-less model into production. They feared it was out of step with the era’s strict, status-conscious offerings such as the Fendi Baguette and the Dior Saddle. But the history of fashion is filled with serendipitous Sliding Doors moments. Kate Moss asked Ghesquière for one after the show, and when the brass got wind that the trendsetting model approved, they decided to commit. (It didn’t hurt that the rest of the prototypes were gifted to other fashion influencers of the time, such as the power stylists and editors Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt, and Marie-Amélie Sauvé.)

Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss, and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen.

The Motorcycle was eventually renamed the City, and has been tweaked and released under different guises, notably as the streamlined Le Cagole in 2021. Now, as references from the noughties dominate the fashion dialogue—even Richie and Paris Hilton are enjoying another pop culture moment—the bag has again been reissued, this time as the Frenchified Le City. The new version remains faithful to the original: The biker-chick menace is still writ large in every stitch, and like a Perfecto motorcycle jacket, the supple lambskin leather only gets better with age. The lariats and studded hardware are still there, and there are different sizes and a kaleidoscope of colors on offer. One feature, however, is noticeably absent: The miniature mirror that used to hang from the top of the bag has gone the way of trucker hats. In its place are a host of customization options, including new key rings and charms.

    Kim Kardashian and Lucy Liu.

Not surprisingly, celebrities are once again contributing to the bag’s popularity. Superstars including Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, and Kim Kardashian, as well as newcomers like Rachel Sennott, Devon Lee Carlson, and Joey King, have all recently been photographed toting Le City. And a new advertising campaign features Nicole Kidman, Amelia Gray, Kit Butler, and the bag’s fairy godmother, Kate Moss. Talk about cult status…

  • Daisy Edgar-Jones’s Red Carpet Style Went From “Normal” Girl to “It” Girl

Daisy Edgar-Jones’s Red Carpet Style Went From “Normal” Girl to “It” Girl

    [ad_1]

As an actress who is relatively new to the red carpet scene, some might expect Daisy Edgar-Jones to take a beat in finding her signature style on the big stage. But, aside from a few pandemic-era fashion choices she admits to regretting, that mostly hasn’t been the case for the Brit who shot to fame following her role opposite Paul Mescal in 2020’s Normal People.

Although Edgar-Jones has only been gracing step and repeats around the world for a rather short period, she’s done so with the poise of a Hollywood veteran. The Fresh and Twisters star has caught the attention of top brands like Gucci (she was named as an ambassador in 2022), Versace, and Vivienne Westwood over the course of burgeoning career.

There’s a through-line of versatility when it comes to the actress’s style, whether it be the super simple white dress she sported to the Twisters L.A. premiere or the fully-sequined Oscar de la Renta show piece she wore during her debut Met Gala in 2022. And with the help of the stylist Dani Michelle (who also works with Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber) and a jaw-dropping Twisters press tour, Edgar-Jones has quickly become of Hollywood’s most-watched style muses.

Below, a look back at Daisy Edgar-Jones’s top red carpet moments.

Edgar-Jones enjoys a statement red carpet gown just as much as she does a sleek and simple dress like this Gucci one. For the Twisters L.A. premiere, the actress sported a cowl neck maxi that she paired with a statement gold bracelet.

  • Victoria Beckham rocks the tiniest handbag you ever saw on date night with David

Victoria Beckham rocks the tiniest handbag you ever saw on date night with David

    [ad_1]

The Beckham family have been enjoying their summer holidays in France and we have been loving their holiday snaps. David and Victoria both shared a carousel of intimate pictures and they look super exotic. Wish you were here, indeed!

WATCH: Victoria and David’s best fashion looks

The whole family (sans Brooklyn) can be seen on the famous couple’s Instagram, happily enjoying their getaway on board a yacht and the clan looked ultra sun-kissed as they enjoyed each other’s company.

In one shot, Victoria and David were seen on a date night, watching a romantic sunset in the French vineyard, Domaine De Peretti Della Rocca. Swish! Looking relaxed and loved-up, the pair snuggle up for the camera. Ever the stylish fashionista, VB rocked a classic black sundress and picture-perfect straight hair. But did you spot her bag?

    © Instagram
Victori, David, and her Hermes ‘Mini Kelly’ bag

On the table, next to the wine, was a tiny Hermès ‘Mini Kelly’ bag. The iconic style is having such a big fashion moment right now, as it hits the ‘Old Money Aesthetic’ trend with its top handle vibe and of course, eye-watering price tag. How teeny is it though? We bet she can’t fit too much in it.

The brunette beauty mostly wears and carries items from her own fashion collection – it’s actually quite rare to see her rock an item so publicly from another label.

Victoria’s bag is the Hermès ‘Mini Kelly’

A ‘Kelly’ bag of this size starts at around £7,000-£10,000 but vintage counterparts can sell for a lot more.

    Photoshopgate

The idyllic snap prompted Victoria to call out her megastar football legend husband. In the photo, she has her arm around David and fans were quick to ask if she had dyed her hair, as it appeared to have a reddish tint. VB, who is known for her dry sense of humour, quickly quipped: “What? Why is my hair ginger??? What filter is that David?”

Another follower piped up, joking: “Now Ginger Spice!”

Sabrina Carpenter has cemented herself as the pop princess of the summer (alongside Charli XCX and Chappell Roan). But her style is just as exceptional as her songs.

Via her concert outfits, music video costumes, and her red carpet looks, Carpenter has claimed ultra-feminine, whimsical, and nostalgic styles. • Zendaya Suits Up In Two Menswear-Inspired Looks at Wimbledon

Zendaya Suits Up In Two Menswear-Inspired Looks at Wimbledon

    [ad_1]

You can take the player out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the player. Tashi Duncan knew that, and clearly, so does Zendaya. Months after hanging up her racket and closing her tennis-playing chapter with the end of the Challengers era, Zendaya has returned to the sport, this time as a spectator. And of course, she has done so in style.

Over the weekend, the actress attended the last two days of the Wimbledon Tennis Champions in London for both the men’s and the women’s finals. For both occasions, Zendaya dressed in suited Ralph Lauren looks, fitting as the lable is the brand sponsors the tennis tournament. Unlike many of the other celebrities who attend Wimbledon in cable knit sweaters and RL sundresses, however, Zendaya put her own twist on the looks, adopting a vintage, androgynous style for her days spent courtside.

    Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images

It started on Saturday, when the actress attended the women’s final match between Barbora Krejčíková and Jasmine Paolini. Zendaya arrived in what seems to be a men’s vintage Ralph Lauren brown tweed blazer, layered atop a blue shirt—haphazardly buttoned—and a knit, blue and white striped tie. Oversized jeans and a Louis Vuitton bag completed the cool, ’90s-inspired ensemble, as did a newly dyed blonde bun and pearl earrings.

    Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images
    Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images

Zendaya was joined that first day by her mother, Claire Stoermer, as well as her personal assistant and best friend, Darnell Appling, who one might remember as the umpire at New Rochelle Phil’s Tire Town Tennis Tournament in Challengers. The actress looked to have a good time with her group, enjoying some concessions and reacting to the exciting match in front of her.

A day later, and Zendaya was back courtside once again, and if Saturday was all about the ’90s, Sunday definitely had more of an ’80s flair. The 27-year-old arrived to the tournament, once again in Ralph Lauren, but this time in a vintage, double-breasted suit dress, which she wore with a striped blue and white shirt and a navy blue knit tie. The piece is deceiving, as it looks like your normal suit jacket from the waist up when Zendaya is sitting in the stands, but a post on Law Roach’s Instagram story showed the actress spinning around in the unexpected skirt.

    Karwai Tang/WireImage/Getty Images

On Saturday, Zendaya was clearly going for a slightly more indiscriminate aesthetic, but the next day, she looked exceptionally put together and buttoned up, as if immediately following the match, she had to run to a meeting with Gordon Gekko. This time, her blonde hair was styled to perfection and sat with a flip on her shoulders, while once again a Louis Vuitton bag finished off the ensemble. Even her mannerisms seemed more contained than the day prior, as she watched the match more stoically, almost as if she was method acting as her boardroom shark of a character.

Your Fashion Guide For A Charli XCX-Approved Brat Summer

    [ad_1]

In case you didn’t get the memo (meaning: haven’t seen an overwhelming amount of pixelated text across your Instagram feed), it’s officially “brat girl summer.” Charli XCX, the queen of dance-pop anthems, indie sleaze fashion, and meme culture recently released her sixth studio album, Brat, an EDM-pop phenomenon that has ushered in a viral fashion aesthetic with it.

What exactly does brat style entail? It’s a bold punk, Y2K fashion aesthetic that calls for trendy hot pants, Von Dutch trucker hats, and neon green. It spans from casual graphic baby tees during the day to sheer black tights (preferably ripped) at night for that “365 party girl” vibe. But most of all, being a brat is about having the unabashed confidence of an It girl, like Charli XCX and her Brat remix collaborators Addison Rae and Lorde. • Cat Deeley got the striped shirt memo – and I’ve found 5 striped shirts just like Cat’s

Cat Deeley got the striped shirt memo – and I’ve found 5 striped shirts just like Cat’s

    [ad_1]

Summer fashion signals the arrival of broderie anglaise, white jeans and one staple that it seems Cat Deeley is a fan of too – the striped shirt, the humble blouse that can double up as a smart top or a beach cover-up. Versatility is its middle name.

Cat’s shirt is the staple reimagined; usually in summer you’ll see blue and white striped shirts on the backs of the coolest gals, but for the This Morning presenter, it’s a khaki stripe that’s in favour.

Cat Deeley with co-host Ben Shepherd on Tuesday’s This Morning

Her simple buy from Zara has thick stripes, interspersed with white, in a classic fitted style. Cat’s shirt is worn tucked into white Sosandar palazzo pants, with a pair of Steve Madden strappy sandals and a brown Mint Velvet belt.

Pack a lightweight striped shirt in your suitcase for your summer holiday, and you’ll find yourself repeat wearing it throughout your vacation. Tuck one into a pair of denim shorts for a day sightseeing, or for casual dinners and cocktails by the pool; buy an oversized shirt and you’ll be able to wear as a beach cover-up, or for throwing on over your swimsuit when its lunchtime at the all-inclusive buffet.

If you’re not jetting off, you’ll still get plenty of wear out of yours. Copy Cat and wear with white trousers or white jeans, for a smarter occasion – it stood Meghan Markle in good stead when she wore a similar outfit to Wimbledon in 2018, tucking a blue and white striped Ralph Lauren shirt into a pair of flowing white slacks.

Or of course, it makes a great stable mate for denim shorts, linen shorts or jeans and chunky sandals (my summer go-to).

The high street as always is a big supporter of the striped shirt, and I’ve found plenty that give the same look as Cat’s, with khaki, beige or brown stripes an update on the classic look for summer 2024.
