Gone are the days when the Met Gala was just the Met Gala. It’s now an entire weekend of events leading up to the grand finale on the first Monday in May (today!). The stars began ascending upon NYC from all over the world starting last week, so there’s been lots of great fashion moments even before the biggest night of the year for fashion.

To name a couple, Anna Wintour hosted a dinner at her home on the eve of the Met Gala and Vogue hosted a pre-party on Friday night. Aside from that, stars were out and about all over the city this weekend at various events, parties, and dinners, so we compiled some of the chicest looks leading up to today. • Stealth Wealth Is In—6 Celebrity Outfits I’m Copying to Get the Look

Stealth Wealth Is In—6 Celebrity Outfits I’m Copying to Get the Look

    [ad_1]

If you’ve been reading Who What Wear regularly, you’ll be well aware of the quiet luxury trend that is dominating this season. From the runways to the street style set, there has been a shift from excess to subtlety in the form of stealth wealth fashion, a.k.a old money style. The aesthetic is a far departure from garish logos, flashy pieces, and short-lived trends, that look like overt displays of wealth. Rather it is characterized by material quality, beauty, timelessness, and superior details, with a focus on what makes high-end clothing worthwhile. Think brands like The Row, Jil Sander, Brunello Cucinelli—who are all about minimalist silhouettes and deluxe timeless classics.

There are a number of celebrities who really embody the stealth wealth aesthetic. Think Gwyneth Paltrow’s Loro Piana-filled wardrobe, Rosie Huntington-Whitely’s elegant creamy colored tailoring, and of course, it’s worth mentioning, the soft power dressing of Succession’s Shiv Roy. What these pieces all have in common is that they’re nonchalantly elegant and coolly collected rather than being overly exhibitionist. They make a statement without having to try to make a statement.

If you’re looking to get the stealth wealth look, keep scrolling to get inspired by six low-key luxury celebrity outfits below. I’ve added a mix of pieces for every budget because leaning into the look doesn’t need to cost a fortune.

Even though it seems like we’ve already dissected Kate Middleton’s style every which way, that won’t stop me from writing even more articles about royals for Who What Wear. I have to give the people what they want! And what they want is Kate content, so here we go.

Right now, I’d like to focus on the handbag collection of the Princess of Wales. She has an enviable collection that includes styles from Chanel, Mulberry, Demellier, Polène, Anya Hindmarch, Aspinal of London, and others. Below, I’ve rounded up some of Kate Middleton’s favorite handbags and included some affordable alternatives for your shopping pleasure.

Sydney Sweeney Wore a Micro Miniskirt With Cowboy Boots, and It’s a Whole Vibe

    [ad_1]

Are you ready for miniskirt season? If the answer is no, you’d probably love Kaia Gerber’s full midi skirt as a more-than-worthy alternative. But if the answer is a resounding yes, you’re in the right place because Sydney Sweeney just shared the cutest way to style the trend. While at an event celebrating her collaboration with Frankies Bikinis, Sweeney naturally wore pieces from the line, including the Eyelet Top ($165) and the Eyelet Mini Skirt ($135).

With Stagecoach happening this weekend, a lot of people have cowboy boots on the brain right now, so Sweeney’s outfit couldn’t have come at a better time. Her white boots created a cool monochrome outfit that’s absolutely worth copying this spring and summer. Sofia Richie’s Honeymoon Outfit Will Be the 2023 Summer Uniform

    [ad_1]

Were your Instagram and TikTok feeds inundated with Sofia Richie Grainge’s wedding content last week? Mine too—and I happily ate it up. Everything about the event was impeccably chic, including the pre-wedding outfits, the rehearsal dinner gown, and, of course, the ceremony itself.

Now the next logical step is obviously to obsess over her honeymoon outfits. Her new beachside photos reveal a tropical destination I could only dream of. Continuing the bridal theme, Richie posed in an all-white outfit that included a one-shoulder Magda Butrym blouse festooned with trendy rosettes, slouchy trousers, The Row sandals, and a Loro Piana bag. She added hints of color via pink Oscar de la Renta Wooden Flower Cluster Earrings ($390) and a Seally Mimi beaded bracelet.

  • Zoë Kravitz Wore the Sandal Trend I Didn’t Think Would Last This Long

Zoë Kravitz Wore the Sandal Trend I Didn’t Think Would Last This Long

    [ad_1]

Do you remember a few years ago when elevated flip-flops were considered controversial? Who What Wear editors (myself included) wrote story after story on how flip-flops were “polarizing.” For this reason, I never thought they’d stick around for long. But now, we don’t even blink an eye when someone is spotted wearing them. And in case you were wondering if flip-flops would be cool again this summer, your answer is here.

Earlier this week, Zoë Kravitz was photographed walking around New York City in flip-flops. Since Kravitz doesn’t wear anything that isn’t cool, what she does wear is a pretty good indicator of what’s “in” and stylish. So yeah, I think it’s safe to say it wouldn’t be risky to order another pair of flip-flops for summer 2023. Kravitz paired her chic square-toed flip-flops with baggy trousers and a trench coat to create the perfect spring outfit if you ask me.

Scroll to see my picks for elevated flip-flops if you’re into Kravitz’s look.

Many of the stories I write are created with you, the reader, in mind. But today, I’m going to be a little selfish because I’ll be attending several weddings this summer, and the search for the perfect wedding guest dress has been the bane of my existence. Matching the venue and vibe while feeling comfortable and confident in what I wear has been a tricky task. But I’m so pleased to report the search has concluded with Net-a-Porter’s latest party edit. Whether the goal is to go bold at a tropical destination or stick to neutrals for a black-tie ceremony, the following pieces fit a wide range of themes. 10 Iconic Chanel Looks You Won’t See at the Met Gala This Year

    [ad_1]

The 2023 Met Gala theme is “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” referencing the lines of Lagerfeld’s famous sketches. The exhibition will feature Lagerfeld’s work across Chanel, Fendi, Balmain, Patou, Chloé, and his eponymous brand. Of course, Lagerfeld is most closely associated with his 36-year tenure at Chanel, so we can expect to see plenty of archival looks as well as outfits inspired by the French house.

I predict we won’t see these 10 specific Chanel looks on the 2023 Met Gala red carpet. Why? Because they’ve already been worn to Met Galas in previous years and are not likely to be repeated at the exact same event—after all, fashion has an undying obsession with newness. Scroll down to revisit 10 iconic Chanel looks from previous Met Galas.

  • Gigi Hadid Wore the Controversial Shoe Trend Everyone Has an Opinion On

Gigi Hadid Wore the Controversial Shoe Trend Everyone Has an Opinion On

    [ad_1]

Obviously, supermodel Gigi Hadid can wear absolutely anything she wants and get away with it. So, when she wears something slightly controversial, people tend to notice.

Recently, Hadid was snapped in casual weekend wear leaning on a bright red Coca-Cola van. The model, a recent spokesperson for the brand, paired colorful Teva Hurricane XLT2 sandals with plain white athletic socks, oversized yellow drawstring shorts, and a vintage-looking Mickey and Friends t-shirt. If not for her long legs, slicked-back hair, and layers of gold chain necklaces, Hadid could’ve been mistaken for, well, just a regular weekend warrior.

If, by some chance, you’ve never had the experience of wearing socks with sandals—or, to be more specific, wearing strappy Tevas with sporty white socks—then we have to say: don’t knock it ’til you try it. The look may give off major dadcore vibes, but that’s kind of the point, right? But, if you’re not sure that Father knows best, then rest assured knowing that Gigi Hadid certainly does.

Rihanna Wore the Tom Ford–Era Gucci Bag That’s Coming Back in a Major Way

    [ad_1]

If you’re ever wondering what the next It item is, just scroll through a few recent Rihanna outfits. Without fail, the singer-turned-beauty-entrepreneur always seems to wear the pieces that are seconds away from a viral takeover, whether it’s a Loewe rugby shirt or a Miu Miu crystal two-piece. For proof, just look at one of her most recent ensembles, an all-red, skin-tight Alaïa combo that she wore to go out in New York City with A$AP Rocky following their recent rendezvous in Paris together. But while the color of the look is certainly having a moment RN, that wasn’t the most of-the-times aspect of the outfit.

Instead, it was the matching red clutch Rihanna carried that we should really take note of. The Gucci bag features the Italian house’s signature logo print as well as an oversize Horsebit clasp. The style is vintage from Tom Ford’s time as Gucci’s creative director in the 1990s and early 2000s, though it was recently remastered by the brand for its fall/winter 2023 collection. No, unfortunately, the new version isn’t out yet. However, the secondhand market is packed with vintage styles from its original heyday. Below, see Rihanna’s date-night look and shop the Gucci bag that’s about to blow up.

  • Zendaya Wore the Prettiest Dress Trend For Her Surprise Coachella Performance

Zendaya Wore the Prettiest Dress Trend For Her Surprise Coachella Performance

    [ad_1]

I didn’t attend Coachella but I’m guessing that when Zendaya stepped onto the stage during Labrinth’s weekend two set, the crowd lost it. Zendaya has stepped away from music to focus on acting projects in recent years, so it’s safe to say that no one expected to see her there, mic in hand. And in true Zendaya fashion, she looked perfect.

For the appearance, Zendaya wore a pretty, early-2000s dress trend that’s once again surging: a ruffled mini dress. The pink dress featured a fitted bodice and a bow at the chest, and she made it look even more forward by layering a white tank underneath it. (FYI, Miu Miu can be credited with making T-shirt layering a thing this season.) Zendaya paired the dress with thigh-high black boots, cutting the sweetness of the dress a bit, whether that was the intention or not.

If Zendaya has convinced you to spring for a ruffled dress, scroll on to shop some of my current favorites.

  • Kate Bosworth’s Under-$100 Mango Pants Are the Only Summer Pants I Want to Wear

Kate Bosworth’s Under-$100 Mango Pants Are the Only Summer Pants I Want to Wear

    [ad_1]

I’ve been a Who What Wear editor for nine years, and Kate Bosworth is one of a handful of people whose style I’ve been covering since day one. And she continues to hit the mark, a decade later. For example, Bosworth took her happy, newly engaged self to NYC with fiancé Justin Long this week wearing a casual-cool outfit that’s perfect for a warm-ish day in the city.

With her oversized denim button-down, cropped white T-shirt, and chunky white sneakers, Bosworth wore a pair of Mango cargo pants that I’d highly suggest snagging before they sell out (which will be soon). The loose, 100% cotton, cream-colored pants are great for spring and summer and would look chic with sandals or sneakers, or heels if you want to dress them up a bit. And perhaps the best part is that Mango is having a sale now through April 29. Spend $220 or more and add the code EXTRA30 to your cart to get 30% off of your order. So scroll on to fill your cart, starting with Kate Bosworth’s cargo pants.

Zendaya’s New Louis Vuitton Campaign Is About to Go Viral In 3, 2, 1

    [ad_1]

Remember when Zendaya wore zebra-print hot pants to the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week last month? As it turns out, her front-row appearance indicated big news yet to come as Louis Vuitton has just announced her as its newest house ambassador. Sounds like a match made in fashion heaven to me.

Zendaya’s new Louis Vuitton campaign was shot in the South of France by Mert and Marcus. In keeping with Nicolas Ghesquière’s love affair with architecture, the campaign was shot at a striking, modernist home designed by Eileen Gray.

“Defined by the dreamy airs of the Cote d’Azur, Zendaya poses in an idyllic sequence of strong, defined images, with a series of Capucines models in tow, including a miniature Capucines BB—another campaign first,” a press release from the brand states. “From terrace to balcony to rooftop, the award-winning actress imbues the campaign and Capucines with a fresh yet sensual grace.”

  • The New “No-Pants” Trend Hailey Bieber and Sophie Turner Are Making a Thing

The New “No-Pants” Trend Hailey Bieber and Sophie Turner Are Making a Thing

    [ad_1]

So far, 2023 has been defined by one risky fashion trend: the no-pants look. While celebrities have embraced the daring trend more than anyone else, it’s gaining steam. Originating on the runways of Bottega Veneta, Victoria Beckham, Khaite, and Coperni, this trend is defined by wearing sheer tights and briefs with no actual pants in sight. Naturally, celebs have taken the shock value up a notch, pushing the no-pants trend by wearing barely-there hot pants.

Celebrities have begun embracing teeny-tiny shorts seemingly overnight, and we’re predicting they’ll be the next big—err, small—daring trend. Recently, Hailey Bieber wore a leather pair from Saint Laurent, which she styled with sheer tights and a maxi coat. And, of course, we took note of the chic way she wore the bare-legs look. Then, we spotted Sophie Turner wearing knit hot pants with a cropped blazer and low slingbacks when heading to dinner in L.A. It was then that we started officially keeping an eye out for the bubbling trend. Fashion people are all over the look, too, wearing iterations of Miu Miu’s raw-edge tweed shorts, which tells us it’s definitely becoming a thing.

Ahead, see how we’re charting the hot pants trend from celebrities to social media. And shop our picks for the one-inch hemline if you dare.

Taylor Swift Wore the Trendy Non-Skinny Jeans Every Fashion Person Knows About

    [ad_1]

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you probably know Taylor Swift is currently traveling the country for her sold-out Eras Tour. But when she does manage to get a rare night off from her concert schedule, Swift’s destination of choice has lately seemed to be New York City. She was photographed going to dinner at Lure Fishbar in Soho last night, wearing a casual outfit that featured a pair of instantly recognizable (to me, at least) baggy jeans.

The jeans are Agolde’s Upsized Criss Cross Jeans, and they’ve been popular for so many seasons the brand has, at this point, released them in several different washes. Swift opted for a faded black pair, which she wore with a black bodysuit, saddle bag, and platform zip-front boots from The Row.

In addition to its Upsized Jeans, Agolde has released crisscross-style shorts, straight-leg jeans, leather pants, and denim miniskirts, further proving the popularity of the overlapping waistband trend. Scroll on to shop Swift’s exact jeans and other crisscross styles she’s likely to love.

    [ad_1]

As gorgeous as Elle Fanning looks when she’s dressed in lavish period garb on the set of The Great, her off-duty style is just as impressive. Classic and sophisticated, she and her stylist Samantha McMillen work in sync to make every outfit a timeless one, always adding a playful touch here or there to personalize the look.

Take her latest ensemble, for example, which she wore for an evening with friends at every celebrity’s favorite Los Angeles dinner spot—Craig’s in West Hollywood. For the occasion, she casually combined a black waistcoat and matching blazer with baggy, wide-leg jeans and the prettiest pair of point-toe black pumps that ever so slightly peek out underneath the bottom hemline. To top it off, she added a bamboo-handle Jil Sander handbag for that aforementioned bit of whimsy.

J.Lo Just Wore the Naked Version of 2023’s Most-Wanted Platforms

    [ad_1]

If we had to zero in on the one wardrobe item Jennifer Lopez favors most, it would have to be platforms. But not just any platforms—the 5’5” singer and actress has frequently been seen in sky-high platforms with lifted heels. In fact, she’s rarely seen in shoes that aren’t platforms, let alone in flats. But of all the pairs in her collection, the ones she debuted on Instagram this weekend are by far the most impressive.

In photos taken on the set of a shoot for her pre-made cocktails brand Delola, Lopez wears a neutral outfit by Brunello Cucinelli, a Yuzefi tote bag, and the 2023 version of Cinderella’s glass slippers: 6″ Valentino platforms made almost entirely out of clear plexiglass and polymer. The $1700+ pumps are new, though you might recognize the shape as they have been one of the year’s most popular shoes.

Valentino’s Tan-Go platforms debuted alongside a slew of hot-pink looks at the brand’s F/W 22 show. Already they’ve been spotted on Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Blake Lively, Florence Pugh, and Dua Lipa, to name only a few. But leave it to Lopez to be among the first to debut the latest version, which gives new meaning to the naked-shoe trend

Gigi Hadid Just Wore the Coolest Denim Shorts Outfit Trend With It Sneakers

    [ad_1]

Last week the temperature in New York City prematurely hit 80 degrees, and that meant that the Central Park lawns were full, outdoor dining tables were occupied, and shorts were dusted off. NYC resident Gigi Hadid joined in on the warm-weather fun (for the very summer-centric activity of going out for ice cream), wearing a denim shorts outfit that you’re sure to see plenty of this summer.

Hadid opted for a pair of cut-off denim bermuda shorts paired with a crop top topped off with a button-down from The Frankie Shop. She accessorized with round-frame sunglasses, a baseball cap, mini bag, and Adidas Samba sneakers—2023’s reigning It sneakers.

The pieces needed to recreate this Gigi Hadid-approved outfit combination are probably already in your closet but just in case, I’ve shopped them out for your below. I hope you’re enjoying the warm weather as much as she is.
