  • Serena Williams Shares a Video From Her Relaxing Baby Shower Ahead of the Arrival of Baby No. 2

Serena Williams Shares a Video From Her Relaxing Baby Shower Ahead of the Arrival of Baby No. 2

Serena Williams is squeezing in some last-minute rest and relaxation before her second baby arrives. On Aug. 13, the retired tennis pro shared a video from her friends’ and family’s unique take on a baby shower, which she dubbed a “pre-push party.” In the video, which she shared on YouTube, Serena and daughter Olympia Ohanian enjoyed some spa-day pampering and pool time courtesy of her friend Lara Shriftman, who organized the special day.

Williams is expecting her second daughter with husband Alexis Ohanian soon. In between enjoying a facial and foot massages, she took a break to share how she’s feeling as her due date approaches. “Baby number two is on the way after, you know, lots of time waiting,” she said. “So how am I feeling about it? Excited, anxious, nervous, happy . . . all of the above.”

She went on to add that while she’s mentally prepared, she still has plenty of practical things to check off her to-do list. Among the tasks she still has to complete before the baby’s arrival are putting together the crib and changing table. Fortunately, it looks like she’ll have plenty of help, thanks to both Ohanian and her community of friends and family.

While Ohanian didn’t appear to score an invite to the “pre-push party,” Williams and Olympia were surrounded by lots of their close friends and family, including Williams’s mom, Oracene Price. The video included shots of the women wearing matching orange pajamas and laughing as the Olympic gold medalist opened gifts and basked in the relaxing fun of her spa day.

“I feel so loved today,” Williams said. “Everyone’s here. Family’s here. We’re all just relaxed. I feel loved and relaxed.”

  • Uzo Aduba Shares Photos From Her Baby Shower: “I Get More and More Excited With Every Day”

Uzo Aduba Shares Photos From Her Baby Shower: “I Get More and More Excited With Every Day”

Uzo Aduba is having an exciting year. Not only did her new Netflix series, “Painkiller,” premiere on Netflix this month, the mom-to-be recently celebrated the impending arrival of her first child at a baby shower with family and friends. On Aug. 10, the “Orange Is the New Black” actor shared two sweet photos of her and her husband, Robert Sweeting, at their shower on Instagram.

In the first pic, Aduba wears a long pink dress next to a safari-themed cake, while Sweeting stands behind her with his hand on her stomach. The two posed as they cut the cake and smiled for the camera. In the second photo, Aduba grins as she sits in a rattan chair with Sweeting standing beside her, both posing in front of a sign that reads “Baby Sweeting.” The actor’s husband again rests his hand on her growing baby bump.

“Our Baby Shower,” Aduba captioned her post. “It was such an amazing feeling to have our families host a baby shower for us, and to spend great time with our loved ones. Robert and I get more and more excited with everyday. To our friends and family- thank you for sharing in this journey with us and for making sure this baby knows just how loved they already are. We had a good good time!”

Aduba was also quick to make sure her followers understood she wasn’t using her pink dress as a tipoff to the sex of the baby. She added, “p.s. this dress choice is hinting at nothing. I honestly just liked the color.”

The actor first revealed that she was pregnant at the 2023 Tony Awards back in June. She and Sweeting walked the red carpet together, and she pulled back her jacket to show off her baby bump to the cameras. Check out the photos from Aduba’s baby shower below.

  • Kourtney Kardashian Cradles Her Baby Bump in a Red String Bikini

Kourtney Kardashian Cradles Her Baby Bump in a Red String Bikini

Kourtney Kardashian’s pregnancy bump was on full display during a dip in the pool on Aug. 8. Taking advantage of the summer sunshine, the soon-to-be mom of four stepped outside in a red string bikini with a plunging triangle top that beautifully accentuated her growing baby bump. “growing you inside of me, my son, is the greatest blessing, honor and joy,” Kardashian captioned photos of herself on Instagram.

Though simple, the ribbed string bikini left Kardashian glowing as she cradled her stomach and lounged poolside. She styled the swimsuit with sleek, rectangular sunglasses and a messy ponytail. As she ascended the lush ivied steps of her getaway spot, Kardashian paused to snap a few photos for the camera, placing her bump front and center. The carousel also featured images of the star posing in front of the ocean and laying in a circular pool float as it drifted across the water. Though the new baby isn’t expected to make his debut for a few more months, it seems like the youngest Kardashian-Barker child will already be well-versed in taking advantage of a good photo opp.

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian Reveal They’re Having a Baby Girl in Sweet Video

Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian are having a girl! Williams broke the news in a YouTube video posted on July 31, which shows her, Ohanian, and their 5-year-old daughter Olympia watching a lights show that eventually forms the words “It’s a girl” in the sky.

The retired tennis icon first broke the news about her pregnancy on the red carpet at the 2023 Met Gala on May 1. While speaking to La La Anthony for Vogue’s live stream from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s steps, Williams revealed that there were “three” people on her and husband Ohanian’s date night. “I’m feeling good now. I can breathe,” Williams said of finally sharing the news. “I can stop hiding.”

The former athlete also posted photos of her Gucci look for the evening on Instagram, and wrote in the caption, “Was so excited when Anna Wintour invited the 3 of us to the Met Gala.”

The news broke not long after Williams retired from tennis following the 2022 US Open last fall. Leading up to her retirement, Williams spoke to Vogue about loving being “an incredibly hands-on mother.” “My husband [Alexis Ohanian] will tell you I am too hands-on,” she said. “In five years, Olympia has only spent one 24-hour period away from me. This past year, while I was recovering from a hamstring injury, I got to pick her up from school four or five days a week, and I always looked forward to seeing her face light up when she walked out of the building and saw me waiting there for her.”

  • Kourtney Kardashian and Addison Rae Twin in Hot Pink Thongkinis

Kourtney Kardashian and Addison Rae Twin in Hot Pink Thongkinis

Korutney Kardashian and social media personality Addison Rae showed off matching hot pink Skims bikinis over July 4 weekend, posing for a series of selfies poolside. The duo, who have been friends since 2020, were sporting the swim brand’s classic triangle top and thong bottom in the perfect Barbiecore shade. Both women opted for natural, makeup-free looks with wet hair, as if they’d just taken a dip, and all four photos showed Kardashian’s growing baby bump front and center — including one lounge chair shot that featured the 44-year-old Poosh founder in a denim Prada bucket hat. Meanwhile, Rae, 22, wore delicate gold chain necklaces and earrings, plus a white ruffled eyelet scrunchie on her left wrist. Their skin-baring swimsuits — though perhaps not the most patriotic in color for the holiday — were certainly some of the most eye-catching posted from the celebrity set on Instagram.

  • Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker Reveal the Sex of Their Baby With an Actual Drumroll

Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker Reveal the Sex of Their Baby With an Actual Drumroll

Kourtney Kardashian Barker and Travis Barker’s first child is already giving off rock star energy. Just a few days after Kardashian announced she’s pregnant at her husband’s Blink-182 concert at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on June 16 by holding up a handwritten sign that read “Travis I’m Pregnant” (an exciting moment that POPSUGAR was there to witness), the Lemme founder and Barker revealed the sex of their baby with an actual drumroll.

On June 24, the couple shared a video on Instagram revealing they’re expecting a little boy. In the video, Kardashian wore a white body-suit over black leggings, and sat on her husband’s lap behind his drums. “Is our pyro guy ready?” Barker asked his wife in the video. “I don’t know what’s happening, whatever you guys had planned,” she replied.

From there, Barker began a drumroll that culminated with an explosion of blue streamers. The clearly emotional couple then wrapped their arms around one another as a crowd just out of frame cheered.

After her initial pregnancy announcement, Kardashian doubled down on sharing the exciting news by posting a video of herself with the sign on Instagram. Her sister Kim Kardashian — whom she’s been feuding with on currently airing episodes of “The Kardashians” — was among the top comments, posting a pregnant-woman emoji and some other happy faces.

Barker and Kardashian were married in 2022. She shares three children — daughter Penelope and sons Mason and Reign — with ex Scott Disick. Barker is already the dad of three, as well. He shares stepdaughter Atiana, daughter Alabama, and son Landon with his ex-wife Shanna Moakler.

Kardashian and Barker had been very open about their journey with IVF in previous years. The couple documented their attempts to get pregnant on “The Kardashians,” with the former ultimately announcing last fall that she was “for now done with IVF” due to the “toll on my health and my — just even mentally — the hormones, the medication.” Ultimately, of getting pregnant, Kardashian Barker said, “I feel truly, like if it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.”

  • Kourtney Kardashian Shows Off Her Growing Baby Bump in a Green String Bikini

Kourtney Kardashian Shows Off Her Growing Baby Bump in a Green String Bikini

Kourtney Kardashian is enjoying her pregnant girl summer — and the fashion moments that come with it. On June 23, the Poosh founder showed off her growing baby bump in a collection of poolside photos she shared on Instagram.

Kardashian kicked off her carousel with a snap that showcased the top piece of her green string bikini, as well as her short, wavy brown hair. In the photo, the 44-year-old was rocking a pair of dark, oversize shades, pulled down slightly so she could peer over the top at the camera. She followed up her first photo with a tour of her pool area, where her 10-year-old daughter, Penelope Disick, was enjoying her time splashing in the water with a watermelon pool float. Kardashian then posted a mirror selfie, featuring her bump on full display, along with her bikini. She captioned the carousel, “sweet summer.”

The “The Kardashians” star’s comments were quickly filled with compliments from her famous friends. Designer Stacey Bendet wrote, “gorgeous girl summer.” Aimee Song added, “U r glowing,” alongside red and green heart emoji, and Shanina Shaik chimed in with, “Beautiful mama.”

Kardashian announced she and Travis Barker are expecting their first child together at her husband’s Blink-182 concert in Los Angeles on June 16. During the concert, she put her own spin on the naked dress trend while holding up a sign announcing her happy news to the world. The reality star is also mom to Penelope, Reign, and Mason with her ex Scott Disick. Meanwhile, Barker shares Landon and Alabama, as well as his stepdaughter Atiana, with his ex Shanna Moakler.

The soon-to-be mom of four and Barker have been open about their journey to have a child together. In a recent episode of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the Lemme founder said she and her husband had decided to stop IVF treatments. “We would love a baby more than anything, but I just really believe in what God has in store for us. If that’s a baby, then I believe that it will happen,” she said at the time.

  • Jane Fonda: Nonprofit’s work ‘far more important’ after Roe

Jane Fonda: Nonprofit’s work ‘far more important’ after Roe

ATLANTA — Jane Fonda says the work of the Georgia-based nonprofit organization she founded to prevent teenage pregnancies has become “far more important” in the months since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and the constitutional right to abortion it guaranteed to women in the United States.

The activist and Oscar winner has been an outspoken critic of the court’s decision, previously calling it “unconscionable.”

While a post-Roe world will be harder on girls because they are the ones who would have to carry a baby, the work to fight teen pregnancy must also focus on adolescent boys, said Fonda, who was in Atlanta for a fundraiser Thursday to celebrate the 27th anniversary of the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential.

“We have to help our boys understand that they don’t have to get a girl pregnant to be men, that being a real man means taking care of yourself, respecting your body and the body of your partner,” Fonda told The Associated Press. “Things are much, much harder for boys and girls now and, so, teaching them skills around their reproductive health, how to stay healthy, how to stay pregnancy-free, how to say no, how to have agency over their body, these things are more important than ever.”

Fonda, 84, founded the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention in 1995 when she lived in Atlanta and when Georgia had the highest teenage birth rate in the United States.

In 2012, the organization changed its name and expanded its mission beyond teenage pregnancy prevention to include nutrition and physical activity. The group says its programs now reach more than 60,000 young people every year.

“We have to educate them about how their bodies work so that they will know how to protect themselves,” Fonda said. “We have to help young people see that they have a future that will be productive, that they can work for – towards, that they can reach towards – and getting in trouble when they’re a teenager and having a baby when you’re very young will make reaching for that future that much harder.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the birth rate for 15- to 19-year-olds in the United States in 2020 was down 8% from the previous year and down 75% from its peak in 1991.

Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana have the highest teenage birth rates in the U.S. Birth rates also remain higher among Native American, Hispanic and Black teenagers.

Fonda served as GCAPP’s chair until she moved from Atlanta to Los Angeles in 2010.

  • California governor blocks Charles Manson follower’s parole

California governor blocks Charles Manson follower’s parole

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California’s governor blocked the parole of Charles Manson follower Patricia Krenwinkel on Friday, more than five decades after she scrawled “Helter Skelter” on a wall using the blood of one of their victims.

Gov. Gavin Newsom said Krenwinkel, now 74, is still too much of a public safety risk to be freed.

“Ms. Krenwinkel fully accepted Mr. Manson’s racist, apocalyptical ideologies,” Newsom said. “Ms. Krenwinkel was not only a victim of Mr. Manson’s abuse. She was also a significant contributor to the violence and tragedy that became the Manson Family’s legacy.”

A two-member parole panel for the first time in May recommended that Krenwinkel be released, after she previously had been denied parole 14 times. Newsom has previously rejected parole recommendations for other followers of Manson, who died in prison in 2017.

Krenwinkel became the state’s longest-serving female inmate when fellow Manson follower Susan Atkins died of cancer in prison in 2009. Her attorney, Keith Wattley, said he understands Krenwinkel is the longest-serving woman in the United States.

She and other followers of the cult leader terrorized the state in the late 1960s, committing crimes that Newsom said “were among the most fear-inducing in California’s history.”

She was convicted in the slayings of pregnant actor Sharon Tate and four other people in 1969. She helped kill grocer Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary the next night in what prosecutors say was an attempt by Manson to start a race war.

Newsom agreed that she has been well-behaved in prison, has completed many rehabilitation and education programs and has “demonstrated effusive remorse.” But he concluded that “her efforts have not sufficiently reduced her risk for future dangerousness.”

She still doesn’t have sufficient insight into what caused her to commit the crimes or her “triggers for antisocial thinking and conduct” during bad relationships, Newsom said.

“Beyond the brutal murders she committed, she played a leadership role in the cult, and an enforcer of Mr. Manson’s tyranny. She forced the other women in the cult to obey Mr. Manson, and prevented them from escaping when they tried to leave,” he said.

Wattley did not immediately respond to telephone and email messages seeking comment on Newsom’s decision.

But Anthony DiMaria, nephew of Jay Sebring, one of Krenwinkel’s victims, had urged Newsom to block her release “due to the rare, severe, egregious nature of her crimes.” He said her actions incited “the entire Helter Skelter legacy that has caused permanent historical scars” and inspired at least two ritualized killings years later.

New laws since Krenwinkel was last denied parole in 2017 required the parole panel to consider that she committed the murders at a young age and is now elderly.

Also, for the first time, Los Angeles County prosecutors weren’t at the parole hearing to object, under District Attorney George Gascón’s policy that prosecutors should not be involved in deciding whether prisoners are ready for release.

She and other participants were initially sentenced to death. But they were resentenced to life with the possibility of parole after the death penalty in California was briefly ruled unconstitutional in 1972.

Krenwinkel was 19 and living with her older sister when she met Manson, then age 33, at a party during a time when she said she was feeling lost and alone.

“He seemed a bit bigger than life,” she testified in May, and she started feeling “that somehow his take on the world was the right, was the right one.”

She said she left with him for what she thought would be a relationship with “the new man in my life” who unlike others told her he loved her and that she was beautiful.

Manson “had answers that I wanted to hear … that I might be loved, that I might have the kind of affection that I was looking forward to in my life,” she said.

Instead, she said Manson abused her and others physically and emotionally while requiring that they trust him without question, testimony that led the parole panel to conclude that Krenwinkel was a victim of intimate partner battery at the time.

It took about two years of traveling and drug use until he began emerging as “the Christ-like figure who was leading the cult” who began talking about sparking a race war and asking his followers, “would you kill for me? And I said yes.”

Krenwinkel talked about during her 2016 parole hearing how she repeatedly stabbed Abigail Folger, 26, heiress to a coffee fortune, at Tate’s home on Aug. 9, 1969.

The next night, she said Manson and his right-hand man, Charles “Tex” Watson, told her to “do something witchy,” so she stabbed La Bianca in the stomach with a fork, then took a rag and wrote “Helter Skelter,” ″Rise” and “Death to Pigs” on the walls with his blood.

The bone-handled fork “was part of a set that we used at holidays … to carve our turkeys,” the couple’s nephew Louis Smaldino, told parole officials, calling Krenwinkel “a vicious and uncaring killer.”

Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra Tate, the last surviving member of her immediate family, was among victims who dismissed Krenwinkel’s explanation that she was led to Manson by alcohol use and a non-supportive family while growing up.

“We all come from homes with problems and didn’t decide to go out and brutally kill seven strangers,” Tate told parole officials.

  • Hilary Swank talks filming new series while expecting twins

Hilary Swank talks filming new series while expecting twins

Hilary Swank has announced she’s pregnant with twins and says that revelation might explain some of her actions on set of her new ABC series “ Alaska Daily.”

“You don’t tell for 12 weeks for a certain reason. But then, like, you’re growing and you’re using the bathroom a lot and you’re eating a lot. I’m sure there’s been conversations, and when I get back to the set, people will be like, ‘Oh, it all makes sense now,’ the two-time Oscar winner said Wednesday during press interviews in New York.

“There was a moment just last week when my pants didn’t fit anymore and I had to like cut … my pants and then I put a jacket on over it like I had to hide it, right? And the continuity (person) was like, ‘That doesn’t match’ (a previous take.) And I’m like, ‘Oh, you know, it’s OK, it’ll work.’ And they’re like, ‘No, it doesn’t match.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I think it’s OK.’ I think we can make it work.′ And she’s like, ‘Well, you’re an executive producer, so you can do what you want, but that doesn’t work.’ I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I have to be able to tell people soon,’” she said, laughing.

Swank, 48, just finished filming the fifth episode of the series, which debuts Thursday on ABC and says she looks forward to “seeing how much my body’s changed. It’ll be interesting to see.”

“Alaska Daily” is created by and co-executive produced by Tom McCarthy (“Spotlight”, “Stillwater”) who also wrote and directed the first episode. It follows Swank as an investigative journalist named Eileen who gets lured to Alaska by a former colleague to look into an ongoing case of murdered Indigenous women.

The story is based on a real decades-old problem of missing and murdered native Alaskan women and Swank hopes the show might put a spotlight on these cases.

“At this moment, it’s happening and nothing’s being done about it. So as we continue down this road, hopefully shining a bright light on this … we can hopefully down the line start saying, ‘Look, something’s being done now.’”

Swank’s character is a seasoned reporter who arrives in Anchorage confident in her abilities, even if the locals are skeptical of this newcomer.

“She has done it for a long time. She doesn’t suffer fools. She calls out B.S. when she sees it. She just speaks her mind,” Swank said. “A lot of people call her rude, yet if she were a man, no one would call her rude. … Probably five years ago there wouldn’t be a female character like this on television. So it’s nice to be stepping into these new waters and to have that opportunity to do that,” said Swank.

Filming a TV show requires long hours, which makes this expectant mother respectful of those who work while pregnant.

“I’ve never been pregnant before and being able to now have a deeper understanding of what women have gone through for so long, the naseousness and the exhaustion, and especially in the first trimester,” Swank said.

“We work 15 hour days and a TV series is like a marathon, so some day are six day weeks and we have 30 minute lunches. And look, I’m not complaining because I love my job, but when you ask, like, ‘What is it like to be pregnant during that?’ It’s definitely a different set of circumstances.”
