  • Inside Hailee Steinfeld’s 15-Minute Makeup Routine for Date Nights

    [ad_1]

Hailee Steinfeld’s makeup routine for date nights with husband Josh Allen is so just like Us — meaning low-key and can be done in less than 20 minutes.

“Fifteen minutes is plenty of time,” Steinfeld, 28, wrote in the Friday, November 7, edition of her “Beau Society” newsletter. “If it’s a weeknight and we’re running out, I’m not trying anything new. … Always, less is more.”

Steinfeld and the Buffalo Bills quarterback, 29, have been together since 2023. They got married this summer, often keeping their newlywed life private. Even with their love life to themselves, Steinfeld still looks her best.

“One tip for speed that sounds counterintuitive but is really helpful: I set out all my makeup before I start, so I feel organized and I’m not rifling through my bag,” Steinfeld said in her newsletter, going on to list her complete beauty regimen.

When Hailee Steinfeld walked down the aisle to marry NFL star Josh Allen, all eyes were on her radiant glow — and now, her longtime makeup artist, Mary Phillips, is spilling every detail behind the picture-perfect bridal glam. Phillips raved over the Sinners star, 28, being one of the “most beautiful brides” she’s ever worked […]

The Sinners actress begins by applying Neutrogena’s Collagen Bank Daily Face Moisturizer with SPF before adding the rest of her makeup products.

“I’ve been loving underpainting. You can be messy and imperfect, and apply your contour without fully blending it because you’re going to buff everything out with your foundation brush in two seconds,” Steinfeld said. “I use almost everything in Mary [Phillips’] Underpainting Palette: the color corrector, highlight and contour.”

While her contour in place, Steinfeld brushes on a light wash of foundation before dabbing Tarte’s Toasted Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Palette on her lids.

“I use this trick I got from a Katie Jane Hughes tutorial [where I] pick up a darker shadow color, spread it across my lashline, and buff it out,” she explained. “It just adds some subtle definition.”

Next, Steinfeld touches up her brows, uses Tarte’s Tartelette Tubing Mascara on her lashes and Patrick Ta’s Major Headlines Double-Take blush on her cheekbones before moving onto her lips.

Steinfeld will outline her pout in “one of three rotating lip liners” from her collection — Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Nude, Makeup Forever Wherever Walnut, or MAC Whirl.

“Honestly, they’re all basically the same,” she pointed out, noting that she completes the process with a swipe of lip balm. “I’ve been loving Mary [Phillips’] Lip Ciggy, which is very tiny and precise.”

Lastly, Steinfeld revealed that she uses a Freck Beauty pen “to cover [her] beauty marks.”

Steinfeld only recently started to conceal beauty marks and blemishes.

“In the last five years, a makeup artist touched up my beauty marks after doing my makeup,” she told Cosmopolitan in a March interview. “I didn’t realize they’d been covered for so long until she accentuated them. At that moment, I felt like my beauty marks had been with me forever.”

  • Abby Lee Miller Called Out by Fans for ‘Aggressive’ Beauty Filter

Fans playfully put Dance Moms icon Abby Lee Miller on blast for using what appeared to be an “intense” beauty filter.

The dance coach, 60, went viral on TikTok for her picture-perfect face in a clip she shared via the social media platform on Sunday, September 28, while traveling to Iowa to lead a class.

In the video, Miller walked onto a plane with a flawless complexion, detailing her plans upon landing in Des Moines, Iowa, after boarding her flight in Chicago, Illinois.

“See you soon Iowa!!! ✈️ Limited tickets available for today’s events ~ yes, you can pay at the door! 👍🏼,” Miller captioned the post. Her followers were quick to poke fun at her ultra glamorous look in the comments section.

“The filter is FRYING MEEE😭😭,” one wrote, which nearly 400,000 other social media users “liked.” Another commented, “The aggressive filter 😭,” while a third wrote, “I thought this was a random person with an Abby filter on.” More fans sarcastically called her a “filterless queen.”

Miller teamed her look with a black graphic T-shirt with her namesake company printed on the chest paired with black fitted pants and sparkling rings. Her brunette hair was parted to the side and styled in voluminous curls.

“Hello everyone, good morning! I am on a United [Airlines] flight headed from Chicago to Des Moines, Iowa, to teach all day today at Ocean Athletics,” she explained in the video.

Miller isn’t the only star who people have poked fun at for an alleged Photoshop fail. Kris Jenner was called out in August for appearing to have six toes while posing for a pic at her mom’s 91st birthday lunch.

“Does she have 6 toes are am I trippin?” one Instagram user pondered, while another quipped, “6 toe steppa.” A third social media user added, “6 Toes… WOW.” Other fans wondered if her foot only looked distorted because of the flesh-toned sandals she was wearing.

More Kardashian-Jenner family members have also been accused of heavily editing their social media posts. Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner fell victim in 2019 when they posed together in a KKW Fragrance collaboration. Kim’s rep then told Page Six that the sideways angle was to blame for the incident.

In July, Khloé Kardashian opened up about not altering her photos as frequently anymore while chatting on an episode of her “Khloé in Wonderland” podcast.

Khloé joked that she looked like a “cartoon character” when she heavily edited her photos. “I feel bad that I thought I needed to look like that. If I got paparazzied, I’d be like, ‘I don’t look like that. I look like this photo.’”

Khloé added, “I really had to reprogram my mind to be like, ‘OK, we have to lay off the filters. This isn’t real. That’s not how I look.’ And I don’t want to look like that. It was a strange time.”

ASAP Rocky Stars in Another Fenty Skin Ad — This Time With Rihanna

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky released a balm-tastic ad.

Rihanna, 36, and Rocky, 35, promoted Fenty Skin’s new Lux Balm in an Old Hollywood inspired commercial titled “Born to Steal: Yours, Mine, Ours,” via YouTube on Wednesday, February 28.

In the black-and-white short film, which investigates a style crime committed by Rihanna, the singer searches Rocky’s closet and picks out an oversized blazer to wear over her glamorous black dress. “Although the female’s choices are endless, she borrows from the male for her camouflage,” a narrator says as Rocky enters the room.

“Wait, did I hear something?” Rocky thinks to himself as he examines the area. Unable to see Rihanna hiding behind a closet door, he leaves.

The narrator then explains that Rihanna has been taking Rocky’s clothes and wearing them as her own. “The more savage of the species, the females are known to hoard from the unsuspecting males,” the narrator says. The camera then cuts to show Rocky realizing Rihanna has pilfered his jacket. “She did not steal my blazer,” he says to himself. “I can’t steal any of her clothes,” he adds while dabbing on the Lux Balm.

Later in the ad, the narrator discovers that Rihanna is also a Lux Balm thief. As the couple enjoys a breakfast of pancakes, Rihanna pulls out the product. Thinking she pulled a fast one on Rocky, the rapper pulls out a Lux Balm of his own, proving that the item can be used by everyone.

“When I finally solved the case of my missing Lux Balm, I wasn’t surprised when she surfaced. Not so fast, baby, this one’s mine,” the narrator says as the video transitions to show Rocky giving the camera a wink.

The Boys’ Erin Moriarty Slams Megyn Kelly’s Plastic Surgery Claims

The Boys star Erin Moriarty opened up about how the plastic surgery accusations are getting out of hand after Megyn Kelly‘s “disgustingly false” claims.

“This is something I truly never anticipated writing,” the actress, 29, wrote in a lengthy Instagram post on Friday, January 26. “We’re all subject to levels of bullying throughout our lives but I am horrified, and I felt that I deserved to take a second to address these things. I had no idea what was going on, to be honest, because I’ve had one of the most challenging weeks of my life.”

Moriarty — who plays Starlight/Annie on Prime Video’s dark superhero series The Boys — has been the subject of much social media speculation over recent weeks with plastic surgery speculation. The actress had posted some photos after some recent weight loss where she was clearly in full glam with strong contour and overlined lips — a departure from some of her more natural makeup looks. She said she expected the usual social media trolls to make their comments and move on.

“I specifically thought that as I emerge this period of time — so stressed that I BARELY been able to eat and sleep,” Moriarty explained. “I thought ok, I’m going to emerge this 10 pounds thinner and the verbal abuse/accusations will be flying — usually either drug use or just a flippant ‘eat a burger’ comment. You learn to become Teflon and move on. I had NO idea what was going on this time.”

There’s no shame in loving your body. Thankfully, more Hollywood stars than ever before are preaching that message, and they won’t let body-shaming comments slide anymore. Lizzo has been vocal about trying to help people accept all body sizes. “I want to normalize my body. And not just be like, ‘Ooh, look at this cool […]

The criticism of her looks took a much larger spotlight when Moriarty was used as an example of alleged extreme plastic surgery on Sirius XM’s The Megyn Kelly Show. She was shocked to see the January 17 segment. “To receive a message about a disgustingly false, counterproductive to the degree of being ironically misogynistic video of Megyn Kelly commenting on the manner — to learn the widespread nature of this has left me horrified,” Moriarty shared.

Kelly, 53, displayed what she called a “relatively recent” photo of Moriarty, claiming the photo was taken within the last year, and called her “a nice, beautiful, natural gal.” Then, she showed a more recent photo that she claimed was shocking, alleging she had “Kim Kardashian lips,” had altered her nose and cheeks.

“Look, I’m not against plastic surgery,” Kelly said. “This is something else. This is like a mental disorder. This is extreme. When you start off incredibly beautiful and you end up like a plastic Barbie version of a Kardashian.”

Moriarty noted the first photo shown wasn’t taken within the last year. “Megyn used a photo taken ‘a year ago’ according to her, that had in actuality been taken about a decade ago, before I was of LEGAL DRINKING AGE (I’m about to turn 30) as an example (maybe do some research that would take 30 seconds),” she said in her Instagram statement. “How utterly misinformed, inaccurate, and clickbait seeing people who we follow and consider to be informed is appalling.”

The photo in question appeared to be from the June 2016 Captain Fantastic premiere in Los Angeles. Moriarty had turned 22 just a few days prior. (It’s possible that Moriarty is confusing the premiere with when the movie was in production. She filmed her scenes in 2014 when she was 19 and 20.)

Moriarty went on to address the selfie she posted earlier this month that Kelly used for comparison (which has since been deleted from her social media). “I got my make up done that day and it involves major contouring and I remember leaving and feeling really pretty,” the actress said. “And even that day was an immensely stressful day for me. I came running to those girls, and I showed up in tears after what had happened that day, and I left feeling better simply because I felt like they had reduced my lack of sleep and worked their magic wands.”

Her confidence was short-lived. “I saw the comments, scathing enough to just turn my comments off,” she continued. “But this is becoming harassment. This is becoming false news.”

Moriarty announced that she will leave Instagram, deleting all but a handful of posts. She’ll keep her account active so people can see her statement but “otherwise, consider it deactivated.” She added that this isn’t just because of Kelly, but the video seems to have been last straw for Moriarty.

“I an horrified by the reaction, the reductive assumptions, and the aforementioned video that is a primary example of such harassment,” she said. “It’s broken my heart. You’ve broken my heart. You’ve lost the privilege of this account. … The way that this has been spoken about, the way that I have been spoken to, I will not accept. I have been in a hole and I’ve been consumed by this personal situation at hand,” Moriarty explained. “You never know what someone is going through, social media is a platform that is not representative of a whole person, and [sic] irregardless, there is no excuse for the words that have been spoken directly to me or about me. Shame on you, Megyn Kelly.”

She concluded with one final dig at Kelly, “Implying that my photo is reflective of women being in a worse place is as false as my conviction in saying that if you resigned, you would be leaving women in a better place.”

Moriarty’s makeup artist, Makeup by Nelly, supported her in the comment section. “I love you Erin! You look beautiful with and without makeup on. I am the contour QUEEEEEN I guess because we made headlines bb🤍,” Nelly wrote. “It’s 2024 ladies and gents we must know what makeup can do nowadays. It shouldn’t be rocket science to figure that out. Stay strong and positive.”

The cast and crew of The Boys also showed their support. Chace Crawford (who plays The Deep) left a red heart emoji while Jack Quaid (who portrays Hughie) commented, “Love you, Erin. F–k the haters.”

Showrunner Eric Kripke added, “Love you. Seriously they can f–k off. Beyond the cruelty, it’s just patently false. Be kind, people.”

The celebrity makeup artist and glam expert — who has worked with everyone from Gigi Hadid and Shay Mitchell to Camila Cabello and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and has his own cosmetics company — exclusively opened up to Us Weekly about his “unexpected” skincare secret: juicing.

Ta discovered the beauty benefits of juicing through his recent partnership with Pressed Juicery, which helped get him through New York Fashion Week earlier this year. “My favorite Pressed Juice is the Pressed Juicery 7-Day Simple Cleanse,” he told Us. “I love this because when I have a long week of being on set or at the office, I am not able to eat as healthy as I would like to. Starting my day with a bottle of Simple Cleanse allows my body to reset first thing in the morning.”

He continued, “Juicing is a great for clear skin because when you are putting goodness in your body, you really are renewing your skin from inside out. Simple Cleanse has 25 percent of your daily vitamin C in one bottle. What you put in your body is absolutely reflected in your skin.”

In addition to juicing, Ta dished on his favorite tips, trends and hacks.

What are your thoughts on TikTok giving every beauty trend a name?

“I absolutely love TikTok giving beauty trends a name because it encourages people to try new makeup products and techniques that they wouldn’t otherwise. People can then see what products/techniques work for their face, and which ones do not.”

What is your favorite makeup trend this year?

“My favorite makeup trend this year is the Strawberry Girl trend! I just launched a new Patrick Ta Beauty blush in the shade ‘She’s Wanted’ that gives you a beautiful berry effect. It looks like you’ve just come back from vacation with a natural all-over flush.”

What makeup on a client has been your favorite this year and why?

“My favorite makeup on a client this year was on Gigi Hadid for the NMACC Gala in Mumbai in April. I loved this look because I feel like it reflected the makeup that I love doing which is very bronzy. It also allowed me to travel and experience a new culture.”

What is your favorite makeup look to do?

“Skin and overall complexion are my favorite things to focus on when doing makeup. My preference really is doing a look where I focus on the skin and then do either a bold lip or bold eye.”

What would you say is the proper way to apply makeup? Foundation first?

It really depends on the look. If I am doing a bold and smokey eye, I start with the eye and then do foundation. If I am doing more of a soft and natural eye, then I would start with the foundation.”

How has your own makeup technique evolved through the years?

“My makeup technique has evolved tremendously over the years. My career began at the MAC counter doing really heavy makeup and then I moved to Hollywood where I was working with models and actresses — then my technique became more natural. I then started working with more musicians/singers, which led back to bolder looks. Currently, I think my technique is now in the perfect in-between which is more everyday, red carpet makeup.”

For people who aren’t very familiar with doing their own makeup, what is the best way to start?

“The best way to start is to find earth tones colors that look best on you and accentuate your natural beauty. Just start from there.”

How often should we switch out our foundation, eyeshadows, beauty brushes?

“I think a Beauty Blender or beauty blender-like sponge is the most important makeup tool to swap out if you can’t clean it, or if it has rips or tears. I think that brushes can have a longer lifetime depending on how well you take care of them.”

  • “Saltburn” Is the Y2K Movie We Never Saw Coming – POPSUGAR Australia

“Saltburn” Is the Y2K Movie We Never Saw Coming – POPSUGAR Australia

    [ad_1]

    Chiabella James/Prime Video

Perverse. Unhinged. Horrifying. Horny. Deliciously bad, but also perhaps the best movie of 2023. These are just a few ways in which critics – mostly people on X (formerly known as Twitter) – have described “Saltburn,” the new film from director Emerald Fennell. The eat-the-rich storyline is one everyone sort of expected. Back in August, months before they were graced with a full trailer, people were comparing it to movies like “The Talented Mr. Ripley” and “Brideshead Revisited.” But since its limited release earlier this month, there have been so – so! – many other details about this movie sparking discussion, little of which is the hair and makeup. But let’s not forget what really drew our attention when teasers for “Saltburn” hit the internet: an eyebrow piercing.

For years to come people will talk about how this film changed pop culture – the word guzzling will never be the same – but those subtle details (that bygone piercing, the matching tattoos, and the peroxide roots) are a huge reason why this movie could sink its teeth so far into our necks. Without them, these British aristocrats might have felt like nothing more than flat tropes. Don’t believe us? Allow Siân Miller, the “Saltburn” hair and makeup designer, to explain.

Miller tells POPSUGAR she was instantly captivated reading the “Saltburn” script. “I’ve read a lot of scripts over the last three decades, and sometimes it’s a bit of a chore, but this wasn’t the case,” she says. “It was such a page-turner and completely laid in with reference and detail.”

Since this film takes place somewhere around 2006, it isn’t just a contemporary story, it’s a period piece. In order to prepare for the hair and makeup design, Miller revisited classic Y2K movies and TV shows, like “Mean Girls” and “The O.C.” for inspiration. There, she remembered just how striking the beauty from the early aughts was – sexy little barbell piercings and all. Ahead, Miller breaks down some of the key makeup and hair design elements that helped bring these characters to life.

Courtesy of MGM and Amazon Studios

Felix’s Eyebrow Piercing Is More Than a Sign of the Times

If you aren’t sure which time period “Saltburn” takes place in, Jacob Elordi‘s eyebrow piercing should be all the context you need. Most people may associate eyebrow piercings with the ’90s, but before boy band heartthrobs rocked the hardware, punks in the ’70s made it their own. It was counterculture. Elordi’s character Felix Catton, the carefree rich kid who takes Barry Keoghan’s Oliver Quick under his wing, might look like he belongs in J-14, but inside – at Oxford University and away from his family’s manor Saltburn, at least – he’s punk. Miller says although Felix is “a superstar upon arrival,” his facial jewelry is an attempt at trying to be cool. That tousled, unkempt, early-stage mullet makes Felix look like his IDGAF attitude is completely thrown together, and maybe it is, but the eyebrow piercing, despite its appeal, should make you think otherwise.

Then again, just about every trend in the early aughts was “naff,” as Miller says. Even the tattoos, which Felix also has. In addition to a “carpe diem” tattoo, he has a few others written in the same font as the Catton family crest. Seems ironically conformist for someone who seems to try hard to fight against the limitations that come along with being an aristocrat.

Courtesy of MGM and Amazon Studios

    Oliver Is a Proletariat Shapeshifter

“Oliver is definitely a shapeshifter and that’s very clear from the start,” Miller says. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Keoghan shared that he essentially plays five different characters in the film – five different versions of Oliver. When we first see him at Oxford, a middle-class scholarship kid, he’s got a geeky, blow-dried, “Zac Efron kind of hairdo.” He’s such a try-hard, and Miller made sure to show it.

Throughout the three acts of the film, the more time he spends ingratiated into the Cattons’ world – the more he becomes obsessed with it – we see him evolve and adapt to suit the company he keeps. While the Cattons may be aristocracy, they’re inherently disheveled. In fact, it was written into the script, the shabby chicness of it all, says Miller. So the longer Oliver is at Saltburn, the looser his look becomes. “He starts to imitate [Felix] a little bit,” she says. “He becomes a little bit less done. He gets more casual . . . he becomes a bit more tousled with the hairstyle.” By the end of the film, Oliver is the lord of Saltburn manor. Technically, he’s no longer the poor interloper, and his look had to say so. Miller says they made him very clean cut and groomed, like Cary Grant. The difference is that Grant probably never danced naked to “Murder on the Dancefloor.”

The Meaning Behind the Catton Siblings’ Tattoos

Venetia Catton may never be the Catton golden child, but that doesn’t seem to waver her relationship with her brother Felix – at least not by much. “It was very important for Emerald that there were elements of Venetia and Felix that mirrored each other and that’s how we played it with the tattoos,” Miller says. Whether it’s simply the placement of certain ink – Venetia has a tattoo on the inside of her arm where Oliver has “carpe diem” permanently etched – or the actual design – they share a cluster of stars on both of their hands – the siblings are physically linked one way or another throughout the film.

Venetia’s energy and aesthetic scream “rich girl who took a gap year to live in Bali,” so it’s not surprising that Miller didn’t want all of her tattoos to really mean anything at all. For example, Miller designed a tattoo for Venetia inspired by the mathematical number π. She also gave her a lightning bolt on her ankle and rose on her shoulder to finish the look.

Courtesy of MGM and Amazon Studios

Why Venetia’s Bleached Hair Is Perfectly Horrible

Alison Oliver, who plays Venetia, was game to bleach her hair to the point of breakage – just like any good socialite in 2006. While a wig was an option, Miller says that the actress was willing to push the limits of her hair health by having it bleached – and bleached and bleached – until it was just the right kind of brittle. Apparently, even Margot Robbie noticed. Miller says that the LuckyChap Entertainment producer paid a visit to the set not long after “Barbie” wrapped. “She came along to a screening and she sat behind me,” Miller says. “I could hear her saying, ‘Look at those brittle ends. They’re just perfect!.’”

Next, she used the Augustinus Bader Face Oil and Rich Cream to moisturize her skin. The Desperate Housewives alum massaged the products onto her face using the Facify Beauty Wand. “I love taking care of my skin,” she said. “I feel like I’m pampering myself every day in my bathroom.”

To conclude her skincare routine, Longoria used the L’Oréal Revitalift Eye Serum and the Augustinus Bader Eye Patches. While letting the patches absorb into her skin, she rubbed jasmine oil onto her chest as she told herself daily affirmations including “be the light today.”

Afterward, Longoria kicked off her makeup routine by applying an all-over skin tint.

She then applied concealer to her forehead and eyelids before going in with the Tartelette In Bloom Clay Eyeshadow Palette.

“For my everyday look, I kinda go super light,” she said while patting a “nudey brown” shade all over her eyelids. She also made her brow bone “pop” with a sparkly shade from the palette.

Longoria later applied a nude color and blended it all together using a fluffy brush.

“I grew up as the ugly duckling in my family because my sisters are blonde, hazel eyes, light skinned and I came out [with] black hair, dark skin, black eyes.” Longoria explained that “although it’s a term of endearment,” she was called the Spanish translation of “ugly dark one” growing up.

“I blossomed really late,” she continued, explaining “beauty wasn’t my thing. I was like, ‘Got it. I’m not beautiful, I’m gonna be smart. I’m gonna be funny and I think that’s why I became an actor. I kinda still don’t [identify as beautiful.]”

Longoria completed her eye look with an orange shimmery shade on her lids and Victoria Beckham’s Satin Kajal Liner in her lash line.

Moving onto eyebrows, she used a Huda Beauty brow pencil to outline her strands and fill them in.

Longoria explained that although she didn’t have acne growing up, “I had a lot of skin discoloration when I was pregnant.” She added, “I had a raccoon mask and a mustache. I used to wear a lot of foundation”

Next, she applied a concealer under her eyes, below her nostrils, on her chin and forehead and a bit on her cheeks before using a Makeup by Mario contour pallet to carve out her cheekbones and add dimension back to her face.

“I have chosen to do this video before I’m picking up my son from school,” Longoria said through laughter. “So I am gonna show up as the hottest mom out there.

Kylie Jenner is promoting her new Kylie Cosmetics Gloss Drip shades with a wet-effect campaign image, posted to her Instagram page on July 31. The 25-year-old beauty mogul often strips down for brand photo shoots, but this latest series presents an elevated take on the naked trend, as Jenner’s sequin crop top and high-waisted nude briefs are the exact color of her skin tone.

Jenner, who launched Kylie Cosmetics in 2014, stares directly at the camera with her darkly-lined lips pursed to show off the liquid-like appearance of her famous product. Her dark hair is wet and tossed effortlessly across her face, and there are noticeable water droplets on her thighs, as if she just took a dip in the pool. Jenner opted for a translucent, square-shaped manicure for the shoot, as well as pink cheeks, plenty of highlighter, and caramel-tinted eye shadow.
