Caddyshack actress Cindy Morgan died in December 2023. She was age 69.

The actress was found dead in her Lake Worth Beach, Florida, residence by her roommate on December 30, TMZ reports.

The roommate told the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office that she returned home from a holiday and knocked on Morgan’s bedroom door. She didn’t hear a response, but she smelled a strong odor from inside and called 911. The authorities entered Morgan’s room and found her body.

Morgan was last seen alive by her roommate on December 19.

The authorities told TMZ that they believe Morgan died of “natural causes” and found no evidence of foul play. An investigation is still ongoing.

Prior to her death, Morgan was best known for her first film role as Lacey Underall in the 1980 comedy Caddyshack opposite Chevy Chase and Bill Murray. Her character was the country club owner’s niece, who catches the attention of many men at the venue. She also starred in the sci-fi classic Tron, which hit theaters in 1982. She played Lora/Yori, Jeff Bridges‘ love interest.

She also appeared on hit TV series including The Love Boat, CHiPs, Matlock and The Larry Sanders Show as well as 16 episodes of Falcon Crest. She produced a trio of sci-fi movies that she starred in in the 1990s (Out There, Amanda & the Alien and Dead Weekend).

Though she stopped acting onscreen in the early 2000s, Morgan was a regular at fan conventions and enjoyed talking about her past work.

“Sweet photo from the set of #Caddyshack,” Morgan captioned a still from the set of the film via Instagram in June 2023. “Bill Murray’s calmly advising me, and I look as nervous as I should be, playing #LaceyUnderall against four of the funniest men on the planet.”

She added, “What was Bill like? A sweet, big brother who kept me out of trouble… mostly. 😉.”

In a November post, she revealed that she had two Falcon Crest roles after not telling producers she’d had a smaller part a few seasons prior.

“One of the other actresses thought I looked a little too much like her, so she had me rinse my hair auburn,” Morgan recalled. “The producers asked me when my new hair color would be permanent. I told them as soon as my contract was permanent.”

She added, “16 episodes total, two characters. I also ‘forgot’ to tell the producers that I had been on the show before as Lorenzo Lamas’ is love interest. One of the crew recognized me though. Interesting doing a nighttime soap. An emotional roller coaster, and I slapped a lot of people. Kissed a lot of others.”

UPDATE: 12/23, 7 p.m. ET — Current members of The Chicks, Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer, released a statement after learning of Laura Lynch’s sudden death.

“We are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Laura Lynch, a founding member of The Chicks,” they wrote via Instagram on Saturday, December 23. “We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together. Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band. Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band. Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid-West. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones at this sad time.”

Laura rose to fame as one of the founding members of The Dixie Chicks, which shortened its name in 2020, alongside Robin Lynn Macy, Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer. The foursome founded their bluegrass-country band in 1989, with Laura playing upright bass and performing as lead vocalist. Macy, now 62, left the band in 1992, with Laura following three years later in 1995.

Siblings Maguire, now 54, and Strayer, now 51, replaced Laura as lead singer with Natalie Maines. (Natalie is the daughter of The Chicks’ original guitarist, Lloyd Maines.)

“We knew we were taking a big risk changing lead singers,” Strayer told D Magazine in February 1996. “We could end up losing it all. ”

As a trio, The Chicks have released six albums and won 13 Grammy Awards.

Amid the Black Lives Matter movement in June 2020, country fans rallied the band to change their name due to the associations of the word “dixie” with the confederacy.

“We want to meet this moment,” the musicians wrote in a statement on their website at the time, noting they were dropping “Dixie” from their moniker.

Matthew Perry wrote about receiving ketamine treatments to “to ease pain and help with depression,” nearly one year before his death.

“Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is a synthetic form of it now,” the late actor penned in his 2022 memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing. “Has my name written all over it — they might as well have called it ‘Matty.’”

Perry referred to the drug as a “giant exhale,” revealing that he would “disassociate” while receiving treatment.

Perry died on October 28 at age 54 from “the acute effects of ketamine,” according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s toxicology report, which was released on Friday, December 15.

In his book, Perry also noted that he felt like he was “dying” when going through the ketamine treatments, but explained why he would “continually sign up for this s–t.”

“It was something different, and anything different is good,” Perry wrote. “Taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel. But the hangover was rough and outweighed the shovel.”

Overall, the Friends alum declared: “Ketamine was not for me.”

Friday’s report also listed drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine — a drug used to treat opioid use — as contributing factors in his passing. Perry’s death was ultimately ruled an accident.

Perry was found unresponsive in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, after authorities were called to the scene, responding to a call for a cardiac arrest. Following the initial autopsy report, Perry’s cause of death was “deferred,” per a report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner on October 30. Further investigation into his passing was requested, along with a toxicology report.

Perry rose to fame playing Chandler Bing on Friends from 1994 to 2004. During his tenure on the famed NBC comedy, the actor struggled with substance abuse, something he wrote about in his memoir at length, revealing that he was “completely sober” for only one season of the show. The late star often referred to season 9 as “the one where everyone was talking about Chandler,” because of this.

“You can track the trajectory of my addiction if you gauge my weight from season to season — when I’m carrying weight, it’s alcohol; when I’m skinny, it’s pills,” Perry wrote. “When I have a goatee, it’s lots of pills.”

Prior to his sudden passing, Perry said that he wanted to be remembered as someone who “wants to help people,” despite his struggles.

“The best thing about me, bar none, is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me?’ I can say yes and follow up and do it,” he said during a November 2022 appearance on the “Q with Tom Power” podcast. “When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned. I want that to be the first thing that’s mentioned, and I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that.”

His cause of death was “deferred” following his initial autopsy, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said on October 30. The results were determined to be inconclusive pending a toxicology report, and a further investigation into the cause of Perry’s death was requested.

Perry was best known for his work on NBC sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004, on which he portrayed the sarcastic Chandler Bing, one of the original six leads. He also starred in films such as The Whole Nine Yards, Fools Rush In and 17 Again and was nominated for five Emmys for his work on TV shows Friends, The West Wing, The Ron Clark Story and Friends: The Reunion. While he was known for making people laugh, Perry struggled with his mental health and addictions to drugs and alcohol behind the scenes.

During Friends: The Reunion, which premiered in April 2021 on Max, Perry recalled how anxious he felt while filming. “I felt like I was gonna die if they didn’t laugh. It’s not healthy for sure, but I would sometimes say a line and they wouldn’t laugh, and I would sweat and go into convulsions,” Perry said. “If I didn’t get the laugh I was supposed to get, I would freak out. I felt like that every single night.”

He remained close with his Friends costars — Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer — who said in a joint statement that they “were utterly devastated by the loss” of their pal.  “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” the group said to Us Weekly on October 30. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

Friends cocreators Marta Kauffman and David Crane and their fellow executive producer Kevin S. Bright said they were “shocked and deeply, deeply saddened” by Perry’s sudden death.

“He was a brilliant talent. It’s a cliche to say that an actor makes a role their own, but in Matthew’s case, there are no truer words. From the day we first heard him embody the role of Chandler Bing, there was no one else for us,” the trio shared in a statement to Us Weekly on October 29. “We will always cherish the joy, the light, the blinding intelligence he brought to every moment — not just to his work, but in life as well. He was always the funniest person in the room. More than that, he was the sweetest, with a giving and selfless heart.”

He added: “The best thing about me, bar none, is that if somebody comes to me and says, ‘I can’t stop drinking, can you help me?’ I can say ‘yes’ and follow up and do it. Tatum O’Neal is mourning the loss of her father, Ryan O’Neal, following this death.

“I feel great sorrow with my father’s passing,” Tatum, 60, told People on Friday, December 8, hours after Ryan’s passing was confirmed. “He meant the world to me. I loved him very much and know he loved me too. I’ll miss him forever and I feel very lucky that we ended on such good terms.”

Ryan’s eldest son, Patrick O’Neal, confirmed the actor’s death at age 82 earlier on Friday. “My dad passed away peacefully today with his loving team by his side supporting him and loving him as he would us,” he wrote via Instagram.

“My father Ryan O’Neal has always been my hero. I looked up to him and he was always bigger than life,” Patrick continued “When I was born in 1967 my dad was already a TV star on Peyton Place. That’s where he met my mom Leigh Taylor-Young, and about 9 months later (give or take a date night or two) I was born.”

Ryan, who was known for his roles in Paper Moon, Love Story, Peyton Place, The Driver and more, was the father of four children: Tatum and son Griffin O’Neal, whom he welcomed with first wife Joanna Moore in 1963 and 1964, respectively; Patrick, 56, whom he shared with ex-wife Leigh Taylor-Young; and Redmond O’Neal, whom he welcomed with Farrah Fawcett in 1985. (Ryan and Farrah were romantically linked for 30 years until her death in 2009.)

Throughout his life, Ryan made headlines for his ups and downs with his children. He and Griffin, 59, got into infamous altercations in 1983 and 2007, while he was arrested with son Redmond, 38, in 2008 for alleged drug possession. He was also often estranged from Tatum as she faced her own battle with addiction.

“How would I feel if my father were to, say, get sick or die even? Would I be OK? And I realized that I wouldn’t be OK,” Tatum asked during a clip of the pair’s 2011 short-lived reality show, Ryan and Tatum: The O’Neals, according to CNN. “So I knew I needed to make an effort, because what is your life without your family? What’s your life without a father?”

The pair eventually reunited in September 2020 along with her three children — Kevin, 37, Sean, 36, and Emily, 32 — whom she shares with ex-husband John McEnroe.

“This is one of the most memorable photos of my life,” Sean wrote via Instagram at the time. “The last time we were all together was at the 30-year Paper Moon Anniversary in 2003. I could cry tears of gratitude that everyone in this photo is still alive and that we were all able to come together again after so many years of hardship. The entire West Coast is burning, but if the O’Neal can reconcile, truly anything is possible.”

Born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, she first trained as a ballet dancer for 15 years before inventing a nude magic show that premiered in Barcelona.

The mum-of-two moved to Benidorm in the 1980s, where she would become a part of the hotspot’s history.

Her shows included her pulling a variety of items from her private parts, including ping pong balls, eggs, handkerchiefs, sausages, and razor blades

She performed at the Costa Blanca resort which was nicknamed Little England because of the amount of British tourists who visited.

In her heyday, she performed six shows a night, six times a week.

Vicky, the daughter of a soldier dad and an opera singer mum, marked the start of the third series of long-running TV sitcom Benidorm starring Johnny Vegas.

She carried on performing her X-rated show well past the usual retirement age after postponing plans to hang up her props so she could fight rival performers she denounced as imposters.

In 2011, she went to court against an adult entertainer in Benidorm traditionally known as Sticky Barbara after discovering she had registered the name Sticky Vicky as hers.

Judges sided with the real Sticky Vicky in 2009 after ruling Spaniard Maria Rosa Pereira had acted in “bad faith” and telling Vicky Leyton she was the legal owner of the trademark.

Vicky said at the time: “Hopefully I’ll be back on my feet again soon.

“It’s very nice that my daughter wants to carry on with what I’ve been doing these years and keep the spectacle alive.

“My stage days are over but I’m hoping I can accompany her.”

Today her devastated daughter shared the news of her death stating: “I regret these words, my mother Sticky Vicky passed away.

Jennifer Aniston is asking fans to honor Matthew Perry in a special way.

“For Giving Tuesday, please join me and Matty’s family in supporting his foundation – which is working to help those suffering with addiction,” Aniston, 54, wrote via her Instagram Story on Tuesday, November 28. “He would have been grateful for all the love.”

Alongside Aniston’s plea was a black and white photo of Perry and a quote from the actor, which read, “Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”

Giving Tuesday — which occurs on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year — is a day for radical generosity. One day before Aniston’s call to action, Perry’s stepfather, Keith Morrison, also encouraged fans to aim their philanthropic efforts toward Perry’s organization.

  • Royal Expert Claims ‘The Crown’ Mishandled Princess Diana’s Death

Royal Expert Claims ‘The Crown’ Mishandled Princess Diana’s Death

    [ad_1]

Netflix’s The Crown covered the death of Princess Diana in season 6, but there were some glaring errors for close royal watchers.

“I’m a great fan of The Crown, of course, but I have to say this was particularly disappointing,” royal expert Christopher Andersen exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, November 21, while discussing his 1998 book, The Day Diana Died. “There are so many dramatic moments that aren’t included. I mean, this is one of the things that television producers occasionally do. They create composite characters or they go off in a different direction. Here all they had to do to convey the drama of the moment and the impact it had on the world really was to just purport the facts, and that wasn’t done.”

The late Princess of Wales died in August 1997 at age 36 following a car crash in Paris. Her death was highlighted in the first half of The Crown season 6, which hit Netflix earlier this month.

Andersen revisited the “immediate aftermath” of Diana’s passing for The Day Diana Died. For the biography, he interviewed “the doctor who treated her in the tunnel” and “all the nurses who handled her” at the hospital, as well as friends of both Diana’s driver and then-partner Dodi Al-Fayed. (Al-Fayed and the couple’s chauffeur were also killed in the accident.)

Related: Everything to Know About The Crown’s 6th and Final Season

The Crown is coming back for one more season — and filming got underway before season 5 even premiered. Shortly after filming on the Netflix drama’s sixth season got underway in summer 2022, the real Queen Elizabeth II died at age 96. Immediately after her September 2022 passing, her eldest son, King Charles III, assumed […]

Due to his prior research on Diana’s death, Andersen was intrigued to see how The Crown would address the same topic but was ultimately unimpressed.

“I felt that it missed that kind of spark because on top of everything else, this is really a kind of a thriller, if you will, as an action-packed, fast-paced piece of history and that was not conveyed,” Andersen told Us. “I am sure that there was a feeling that no one wanted to dwell too much on the catastrophe itself to look as if they were capitalizing on the death of this woman and the gruesome aspects of the accident and whatnot. But I think they went too far in the other direction. So it just took all the spark in life out of what is quite a moving and dynamic story.”

According to Andersen, The Crown “could have done better” with its representation of the emotional “moment in history that really rocked the world.”

“Why not just portray what happened when [King] Charles saw Diana’s body [laying] in the hospital room for the first time? The entire nursing staff was there. He practically collapsed [and] he had to be held up,” Andersen added. “I mean, it was quite a dramatic moment. None of that is there [in the show]. I mean, Dr. Mailliez, who treated Diana in the tunnel, has an amazing story to tell about her last words. All of this was gone.”

The royal author further pointed out that while the series did attempt to “handle [the story] with great care,” it missed the mark on the biggest emotional reactions.

Following in royal footsteps! A multitude of actors have juggled portrayals of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Philip, Princess Margaret and other members of the British royal family during The Crown’s run. The Netflix series premiered in November 2016 with Claire Foy taking on the role of the queen. The actress went on to win an […]

“The actress [who played Diana] is amazing,” Andersen gushed of star Elizabeth Debicki. “I think it’s just eerily right on the money, spot on. Unfortunately, I’m looking at it from my perspective as somebody who knows exactly what happened in detail, and you can’t obviously cram that all into this first half of the season of The Crown.”

Andersen noted that he wished Prince William and Prince Harry’s reactions to walking behind Diana’s casket at her state funeral were shown on screen. William, now 41, and Harry, now 39, marched alongside father King Charles, now 75, and late grandfather Prince Philip in the procession. They were also joined by Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer.

“You just didn’t get the sense of drama and grief and pathos there,” Andersen said. “I was wondering if they’d have that one moment when Harry, as a little boy, turns to his father and says, ‘Are you sure mommy’s dead?’ Because he said that. I mean, that would’ve conveyed everything there. The tight world of the royals was acting as if nothing had even happened, and yet the rest of the world was in turmoil over her death.”

Andersen also lamented over Imelda Staunton’s onscreen portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II, who died in September 2022.

“When the queen gave her speech, there was a huge push to make her face up to the fact that she had to address her people. She didn’t want to do these things. She was forced to do them by Charles and by [former prime minister] Tony Blair at the time,” Andersen pointed out. “So all the behind-the-scenes machinations, or at least they could have touched on that I think, but they chose to just have her stand on the balcony and give that speech with far less emotion than the queen actually did.”

The cast of The Crown has admitted that they are worried about how the British royal family feels about the Netflix series, but do they tune in? Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and more members of the late Queen Elizabeth II’s family have revealed their thoughts about the scripted drama loosely based on royals over the […]

He continued: “I’m not a fan of the rest of the cast. I think [Imelda was] terribly miscast as queen. I think [the queen had] a much softer personality than this [version], who’s unrelenting.”

Andersen also theorized that The Crown attempted to put a “very Hallmark” spin on Diana’s romance with Al-Fayed, acknowledging that “we don’t know if he proposed” to Diana on their Paris trip.

“I think [what] they’re trying to do is [that] they’re so shell-shocked by criticism [of] what’s happened to other people who seem to have exploited the terrible accident that took Diana’s life,” he added. “But what they should really do is try and capture the drama, which isn’t [there].”

THE daughter of a Nazi death camp survivor has told her father’s incredible story for the first time — after being shocked by anti-Jewish hate triggered by the Hamas attacks.

Mum-of-three Maja Klausner, 49, had kept silent on the heart-stopping story of her late father Wladyslaw Rath, an Auschwitz inmate who was on the real-life Schindler’s list.

But she contacted The Sun after being moved by our front page showing the faces of 32 child hostages held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

And yesterday she told how her peace campaigner dad would have been horrified by the rise of anti-Semitic hate set to be paraded again this Remembrance weekend.

Housewife Maja, 49, said: “My father could not bring himself to describe what happened to him in Auschwitz until two years before his death.

    “It was too painful.

“But when the film Schindler’s List was released, he began telling us he had been a part of that story and was one of the lucky ones who lived.

“I had never intended to reveal what he told me but feel I have to say something as we remember the Second World War, because I fear the wheel of history has come full circle again.

“There is so much hate — on both sides — but I would appeal to everyone planning to protest, please remember the lessons of the past.”

Wladyslaw Rath was the 15-year-old son of a successful Jewish factory owner in Krakow, Poland, when the Nazi invasion decimated his well-to-do family’s life in 1939.

    ‘Huge, ferocious dogs’

The youngster, his older sister Dora, then 19, their father Max and mother Amalia lost everything and were marched from their townhouse to Krakow’s ghetto at gunpoint.

Amalia was gassed in a Nazi extermination camp and Max collapsed and died on a forced “death march” days before the end of the war.

But Wladyslaw and Dora survived the horrors of Plaszow, Buchenwald and Auschwitz concentration camps thanks to Holocaust hero Oskar Schindler.

The German industrialist saved 1,200 Jews by creating fake jobs for them in his Krakow armaments factory to keep them out of death camps.

Wladyslaw and Dora were numbers 231 and 200 respectively on the record of employees immortalised as Schindler’s List in Steven Spielberg’s 1993 Oscar-winner.

Before his death aged 71 in 1996, Wladyslaw told Maja he was saved by Schindler — played by Liam Neeson in the film — and how he thanked him after the conflict.

But he also haltingly recounted his near-death ordeal at the hands of sadistic Plaszow camp commandant Amon Göth, chillingly portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in the film.

Maja told The Sun: “My father was saved by Oskar Schindler but first had to survive Göth in Auschwitz.

“In the movie Göth was seen delighting in shooting dead prisoners for fun with a sniper rifle, and my father endured this torment.

“One day he was carrying a ladder through the camp with a man who was taller than he was when Göth appeared and began shooting.

“A bullet went through my father’s hair and grazed his scalp but hit the taller man, killing him instantly.

“My father was traumatised but had seen so much death in the camp by then that he just picked up the ladder and carried on walking.

“While many lost the will to live and were shot, gassed, starved or worked to death, he somehow managed to stay strong and carry on.”

Maja told how her father also recalled the horror of watching Jew-hating Göth’s huge, ferocious hunting dogs savage camp inmates to death.

She told The Sun: “Göth had two enormous dogs which he had trained to kill.

“They were vicious cross breeds as big as a Great Dane.

“He would set his dogs into crowds of starving, exhausted prisoners and laugh as they tore people to pieces.

“My father was in the crowd several times when this happened and somehow avoided being the victim.

“And Göth later gave him the job no one wanted — feeding the dogs.”

Maja told how her determined father, by then in his late teens, turned the feared chore to his advantage.

She continued: “He had a way with animals which enabled him to control them.

“He began stealing the dogs’ food to enable himself and other inmates to survive.

“Everyone was terrified of them, so he would hide the food he stole as he walked with them and trained them to snarl at any camp guard who approached him.

“That food kept them alive when many more starved.

“He also managed to save Dora’s life by hiding her from the guards when she fell ill with typhoid.

“Any prisoner unwell in Auschwitz was routinely gassed or shot immediately because they were of no further use to the Nazis.

“This was the very peak of anti-Semitism of the kind we are seeing rising again now, the mass murder of millions of people just because they were Jewish.

“It must never be allowed to happen again.”

Wladyslaw and Dora survived by pretending to be experienced factory machinists to enable them to be added to Schindler’s list of fake forced labourers.

Schindler, who died aged 66 in 1974, had his workers deliberately make dud shells to hamper Adolf Hitler’s war machine before Krakow and nearby Auschwitz were liberated in 1945.

Maja said: “At the end of the war Oskar Schindler’s workers feared he would be mistaken for a Nazi and shot.

“So my aunt Dora and others escorted him to surrender to the Allied soldiers to save his life.

“Years later my father met him especially to say thank you.

“He told me it was an incredibly emotional moment for them both.”

Wladyslaw only survived the war because he was on Schindler's list

After the war, Wladyslaw moved to the Austrian capital, Vienna, where he ran a successful cinema business.

He was invited to the world premier of Schindler’s List in the city in 1993.

    ‘Risk of attack too high’

He also managed to track down and buy the wartime ID card of his nemesis Göth — which is now on display on the Auschwitz holocaust museum site.

Maja said: “My father was a very positive person and always tried to look forward rather than back.

“He never really talked about what happened in the war until a couple of years before his death.

“He firmly believed that what happened to him and millions of others changed the world for ever, and I’m glad he is not alive to see what is happening today.

“People were marching against Israel and celebrating the Hamas massacres on the streets even before Israelis retaliated.

“I’m not a practising Jew but I have Jewish friends who are afraid to go out.

“Others have removed Jewish names from their doorbells fearing they will be attacked.

“I won’t be going to the Christmas markets in Vienna, which I love every year, because the risk of an attack by extremists is too high.

“And while I am determined to speak out, I don’t want to give you the names of my three children in case they are put at risk.

“This is the climate we are living in again, at a time of year when we are remembering those sacrificed during World War Two.

“It feels as though history is going backwards and that we have learned nothing.”

Maja — whose children are aged eight, ten and 12 — said she had been heartbroken by the suffering of Israelis and Palestinians triggered by the October 7 atrocities.

And she was particularly moved by the plight of innocent youngsters caught in the crossfire, including the 32 Israeli child hostages pictured on a powerful Sun front page last month.

Maja, who lives in Vienna and saw our front page online, said: “Children should play no part in this conflict, no matter which side they are on.

“I learned a lot from my father and I make a point of reading newspapers from all over the world.

Matthew Perry never shied away from opening up about his struggles after rising to stardom for his role as Chandler Bing in Friends. “When [fame] happens, it’s kind of like Disneyland for a while. For me it lasted about eight months, this feeling of ‘I’ve made it, I’m thrilled, there’s no problem in the world.’ […]

“When I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people,” he said on a November 2022 episode of the “Q with Tom Power” podcast. “I know it won’t happen, but it would be nice.”

He continued: “The best thing about me, bar none, is that if an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, ‘Will you help me?’ I can say yes and follow up and do it. When I die, I don’t want Friends to be the first thing that’s mentioned. I want that to be the first thing that’s mentioned, and I’m going to live the rest of my life proving that.”

Perry may not have wished for Friends to be his sole legacy, but it certainly was a large part of life — especially in the bond he made with costars. The cast paid tribute to their longtime friend on Monday.

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family,” Aniston, 54, Cox, 59, Kudrow, 60, LeBlanc, 56, and Schwimmer, 57, told Us Weekly in a joint statement on Monday. “There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

Earlier this week, Jim Burrows, who directed 15 episodes of Friends, shared that the women in the cast were taking Perry’s death particularly hard. “I had texted the girls the day we found out,” he shared on the Thursday, November 2, episode of the Today show. “They were destroyed.
