  • Watch Reese Witherspoon lead tributes to ‘indelible’ Diane Keaton as Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler and Steve Martin praise ‘complete original’ star

    [ad_1]

Reese Witherspoon paid a tearful tribute to the late Diane Keaton while on stage at the Hello Sunshine Shine Away Festival on Saturday, October 11, 2025. Reese starred alongside Diane in the 1991 movie Wild Flower, and told guests a heartwarming story of how Diane helped Reese to find her footing in the Hollywood industry. After a panel with author Harlan Coban, with whom she has collaborated on a new thriller, Reese said: “I just wanted to talk to you for one second because – and I’m gonna try and get through this without tearing up – but I don’t know if you guys heard that Diane Keaton passed today”.

“I had to take a second to really think about it because when I was 15-years-old, Diane was really important to me,” said an emotional Reese. “She was one of my first mentors in this business when I was 15 and from Nashville, Tennessee, and I didn’t know anybody.” Reese then shared that during one of her earliest auditions, she had a “big country accent” that Diane did not believe was real.

“I said: ‘I’m Reese Witherspoon, I’m from Nashville, Tennessee.’ And she said, ‘Are you making that [accent] up?’ And I said: ‘No, ma’am, I’m from Nashville, Tennessee, and I’d love to be in your movie.’ And she told me: “You’re hired, you’re hired today, tomorrow, and the next day. I don’t know who you are, but I am so excited to have you.’”

“That was one of the most important summers of my childhood because she really took the time to pull me aside and say: ‘Stand up straight. I want you to have good posture. If you’re going to be an actress, you’ve got to work on your posture, okay?’” Reese told guests, adding: “What I loved about her is she was such an original, and if you just close your mind and think of Diane Keaton… I guarantee you, from Annie Hall to The Godfather to Something’s Gotta Give, she is just incredible and indelible and just a truly original person.”

  • Why Diane Keaton Chose Motherhood Later in Life

    [ad_1]

The late Diane Keaton chose an unconventional path to parenthood when she adopted her children well into her 50s — and was candid about the reason behind her decision.

“I didn’t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother,” Keaton — who died at the age of 79 on Saturday, October 11 — previously told Ladies’ Home Journal. “Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist. It was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.”

Keaton welcomed daughter Dexter, 29, and son Duke, 25, via adoption and as a single mom in her 50s. While Keaton never married during her tenured and prestigious film career, she did date a few famous faces, including Woody Allen, Warren Beatty and Al Pacino.

In 2019, the Something’s Gotta Give actress opened up to People about her decision to never take a walk down the wedding aisle.

Fans of famed actress Diane Keaton are revisiting some of the actress’ most memorable roles following news of her death. People confirmed on October 11, 2025 that the Something’s Gotta Give actress died in California. She was 79. A spokesperson told the outlet no additional information regarding the actress’ death was available at the time, […]

“Today I was thinking about this — I’m 71 and I think I’m the only one in my generation, and maybe before, who has been a single woman all her life,” she told the outlet at the time, before adding that it would “not have been a good idea for me to have married.”

“I’m really glad I didn’t, and I’m sure they’re happy about it too,” she added, referring to her Hollywood exes.

Later, in 2023, the actress once again reiterated that she was happy to live life as a single mom.

“I don’t date,” she told AARP The Magazine at the time, while insisting that it was “highly unlikely” that she would find herself in another romantic relationship in the future. “I don’t remember anyone calling me, going, ‘This is So-and-So, I’d like to take you out.’ They don’t happen. Of course not.”

The famed actress went on to explain her longstanding stance on marriage – a mindset she established when she was a teen.

“I remember one day in high school, this guy came up to me and said, ‘One day you’re going to make a good wife,’” she said. “And I thought, ‘ I don’t want to be a wife. No.’”

While Keaton’s family asked for privacy in the wake of her death, many of her costars and fellow Hollywood stars paid tribute to the late actress.

  • Robert Redford Dead at Age 89 After Retreating From Public Eye

    [ad_1]

Actor and director Robert Redford has died at age 89.

Redford died on Tuesday, September 16, at his home in Utah, according to a statement to The New York Times from his publicist Cindi Berger. His rep confirmed that he died in his sleep but did not provide a specific cause.

Redford got his start in the ’60s with small roles on TV before movies like Barefoot in the Park with Jane Fonda made him a star. He went on to star in classic films including Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Way We Were, Out of Africa, All the President’s Men and Three Days of the Condor. The Sting, which was released in 1973, earned Redford his first and only acting Oscar nomination.

In the 1980s, Redford transitioned into directing, winning an Academy Award for his directorial debut, Ordinary People.

Redford was also an activist and is known for founding the nonprofit Sundance Institute, which went on to become the Sundance Film Festival.

“I was born with a hard eye,” Redford told The Hollywood Reporter in 2014. “The way I saw things, I would see what was wrong. I could see what could be better. I developed kind of a dark view of life, looking at my own country.”

Before his death, Redford made a brief appearance in the season 3 premiere of Dark Winds alongside Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin. The duo, who were both executive producers on the show, played incarcerated men engaged in a high-stakes game of chess behind bars in the March episode.

Director Chris Eyre opened up about working with Redford in his return to acting after a six-year hiatus. According to Eyre, a potential Redford cameo had been “in the air since the first season,” and there were plans for Redford to appear in the season 2 finale.

“I never thought I could get to a place in my life where I would know Robert Redford, let alone be in a scene with him,” Dark Winds star Zahn McClarnon told Vulture.

Showrunner John Wirth, meanwhile, confirmed that there were obstacles they had to address before Redford’s cameo was filmed, adding, “I was never really sure it was going to happen until it happened.”

Redford’s final role before he returned to the spotlight in Dark Winds was in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, where he reprised the role of former S.H.I.E.L.D. director turned HYDRA traitor Alexander Pierce from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

After starring in 2018’s The Old Man & the Gun, Redford said that was likely his final onscreen appearance.

“Never say never, but I pretty well concluded that this would be it for me in terms of acting, and [I’ll] move towards retirement after this ’cause I’ve been doing it since I was 21,” Redford told Entertainment Weekly at the time. “I thought, ‘Well, that’s enough.’ And why not go out with something that’s very upbeat and positive?”

Redford walked that decision back one month later, telling Variety it “was a mistake” to announce he was retiring.

“I should never have said that,” he said. “If I’m going to retire, I should just slip quietly away from acting, but I shouldn’t be talking about it because I think it draws too much attention in the wrong way. I want to be focused on this film and the cast.”

Redford is survived by his wife, Sibylle Szaggars, and daughters Shauna, 64, and Amy, 54, whom he shared with first wife Lola Van Wagenen. Their son James died of cancer in October 2020 at age 58. Their first child, son Scott, died of SIDS in 1959 when he was 2 months old. Redford also had seven grandchildren.

“I wish he was still here. I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, and I think people saw that at the show,” Jack said, referring to Ozzy’s frail appearance during his final performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham, England, just weeks before his death.

Jack said that neither he nor his family “expected it to happen as quickly as it did,” adding that the possibility of Ozzy dying was “not on our radar.”

“He was so happy that he did the show. And he was happy to move into this next phase of his life,” Jack said. “He wanted to spend more time in England. He wanted to spend more time with my kids.”

Jack said he feels lucky to have spent time with his father before his death, when he and his family stayed with Ozzy in the U.K. just after the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham. Jack shares three daughters with his ex-wife, Lisa Stelly: Pearl, 13, Andy, 10, and Minnie, 7. In July 2022, he welcomed daughter Maple, now 3, with his current wife, Aree Gearhart.

“I stuck around, hung out with the family at the house, my kids — it was a really amazing week,” Jack said.

Jack said he and his family were initially meant to fly to Portugal after the Black Sabbath concert, but “my kids all got sick.”

“They all had a stomach virus and it was really gross,” he explained. “So we canceled the trip and we just hung out at our family house in England for a week. It was awesome. It was sunny. My dad was in an amazing mood. He was really happy every day. He was opening up the newspaper and seeing different reviews and different stories from the Back to the Beginning show. It was great. It was a lot of fun.”

Jack added, “I look back on that now and I’m so grateful. I’ve never been so grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu as I am today.”

Ozzy died from cardiac arrest, acute myocardial infarction, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease, according to a death certificate obtained by the U.K.’s Sun newspaper in August.

  • Nick Hogan Honors Hulk Hogan at New Wrestling Promotion Event

    [ad_1]

Hulk Hogan‘s son Nick Hogan paid tribute to the late WWE icon at the launch of his father’s wrestling promotion Real American Freestyle.

Nick, 35, and Hulk’s wife, Sky Daily, were both in attendance on Saturday, August 30, at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio for RAF 01 — a Fox Nation wrestling special that Hulk was producing before his death at age 71 in July. (Us Weekly reported in July that Hogan died from an acute myocardial infarction — commonly known as a heart attack — but also had a history of leukemia CLL. Hulk’s daughter, Brooke Hogan, has raised questions about the official cause of death.)

Speaking at RAF 01, Nick took a moment to address Hulk’s legacy as a father and his impact on the professional wrestling industry.

“Hulk, to me, is an icon, a mentor, my father, and my best friend,” Nick told viewers. “[He was] a force in the sports entertainment industry that will live forever.”

Hulk and former World Championship Wrestling executive Eric Bischoff announced in April that they were forming a professional freestyle wrestling league to promote Olympic-style wrestling. Fox Nation came on board to air Saturday’s launch special, as well another event to air later this year.

The network confirmed earlier this week that RAF 01 was dedicated to Hulk’s memory and would feature members of his family making an appearance.

Nick and his wife, Tana Lea, were previously involved when WWE — which is not affiliated with Real American Freestyle — aired multiple tributes to Hulk at live events earlier in the summer. WWE gathered some of Hulk’s rivals and friends— including Sgt. Slaughter, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart — for multiple ten-bell salutes in his honor in the week after his death.

In August, Nick visited the site of the planned Hulk Hogan’s Slam Sports Bar in New York City to pose for some photos with Hulk’s business partner Rich Rosen. Rosen confirmed to PageSix that he was pressing forward with construction on the Slam Sports Bar and expected it to open later this year.

“Hulk Hogan wasn’t just a partner. He was a dear friend and a legend whose impact on sports and entertainment is immeasurable. From the very beginning, Hulk poured his heart into this project,” Rosen said. “He shaped the spirit of what Slam was meant to be, a place where fans from around the world could gather at the very corner where his legend began, to celebrate his legacy and the unforgettable moments that defined his career.”

Hulk Hogan’s Slam Sports Bar will be located across the street from the famed Madison Square Garden, where Hulk won his first WWE World Heavyweight Championship from The Iron Sheik on January 23, 1984. Hulk would go on to become a 12-time World Champion in both WWE and its one-time competitor WCW. (WWE purchased WCW in March 2001.)

A source told Us that between 800 and 1,000 people showed up for a 90-minute funeral service at the Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Largo, Florida on August 5. Hulk’s widow, Daily, and his ex-wife, Linda Hogan, were both in attendance with Nick, though Brooke declined to attend. ‘

Daily later referred to the funeral as “one of the most beautiful and moving days [she had] ever experienced.”

“In the same church where we were married and baptized together, we gathered with family, friends, and loved ones to honor a life that touched millions,” she wrote via Instagram on August 6. “The church was filled with stories… some that brought tears, others that made us laugh through those tears… and with every memory shared, you could feel the love that surrounded him.”

  • Kath Wharton’s Cause of Death: Rugby Star Found Dead in Parking Lot

    [ad_1]

New Zealand rugby player Kathleen “Kath” Wharton’s cause of death has reportedly been revealed nine months after the mom of four was found unresponsive in a McDonald’s parking lot.

Wharton died at 41 years old from sudden cardiac arrest while she was taking a nap in an Auckland, New Zealand, McDonald’s parking lot “after a long-haul flight from a rugby tournament in Japan” on November 21, 2024, the New Zealand Herald reported on Saturday, August 23, citing associate coroner Hannah Cheeseman’s findings.

The associate coroner also found that Wharton had COVID-19 at the time of her death. The virus, along with the effects of a long flight and jet lag, was deemed a possible contributing factor in the athlete’s death, Fox Sports Australia reported. Dr. Kilak Kesha, who conducted the post-mortem, stated that COVID-19 can potentially “unmask” an existing cardiac problem.

Before her death, Wharton had been in Japan with her husband, Andrew, and their daughter, according to multiple reports. A teammate’s child had lost their passport, so she opted to travel with the child instead of heading back to New Zealand with her family and the rest of her team.

“When [Kath] did not arrive to pick him up, or respond to messages and calls, her husband made his way to the McDonald’s. There, [Kath] was located, unresponsive, in her vehicle,” the associate coroner’s report read, per Fox Sports Australia.

Kath was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:43 p.m.

In addition to her work on the sports field, Kath was an advocate for her community as the manager of Healthy Families Far North, which aims to “improve the health of our people where we live, learn, work and play.”

“She was a leader, a protector, she was all about Tino rangatiratanga, she was passionate, she was our big sister, our go-to lady and I can’t even imagine what life is going to look like up here without her, it’s really heartbreaking,” Kath’s colleague Talei Anderson told RNZ.

Anderson continued, “She’s inspired many lives, she’s touched many hearts across Northland, she would go to the end and back to ensure we could do our mahi, she was just an amazing person. She was always about giving our rangatahi and tamariki opportunities to thrive. It’s a huge loss for everyone up here.”

Iconic composer and songwriter Quincy Jones has died. He was 91.

Jones died Sunday night at his home in Bel Air in Los Angeles, his publicist Arnold Robinson said, per multiple outlets including The Hollywood Reporter and the Associated Press.

“Tonight, with full but broken hearts, we must share the news of our father and brother Quincy Jones’ passing. And although this is an incredible loss for our family, we celebrate the great life that he lived and know there will never be another like him,” Jones’ family said in a statement.

Jones was born in March 1933 in Chicago but later moved with his family to Bremerton, Washington. After playing the trumpet and piano throughout high school, Jones went on to attend Seattle University before transferring to the Berklee College of Music. The musician later dropped out of college to serve as a trumpeter, arranger and pianist with Lionel Hampton.

After returning to New York following a tour in Europe in the late ‘50s, Jones composed and arranged pop hits for singers such as Count Basie, Dinah Washington, Sarah Vaughan and Aretha Franklin. In the ‘70s, Jones founded Qwest Productions, later producing albums for Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and more. In 1982, Jones produced Jackson’s Thriller record — the best-selling album in history.

Hollywood mourned many celebrities in 2024. Speed Racer star Christian Oliver (born Christian Klepser) died at the age of 51 during a fatal plane crash on January 5. Oliver was traveling home from a Caribbean vacation with his two daughters — Madita and Annik, whom he shared with wife Jessica Klepser — on January 4. […]

“Musically, we knew we had ‘it’ with Thriller. To this day I can hear artists trying to replicate its sonic power,” Jones said in an interview with the Library of Congress in June 2016. “It’s no accident that more than three decades later no matter where I go in the world, in every club, like clockwork at the witching hour you hear ‘Billie Jean,’ ‘Beat It,’ ‘Wanna Be Starting Something,’ and ‘Thriller.’ In every language on the planet, from prison yards in Thailand to Thrilltheworld.com, Thriller is still giving people ‘goosebumps.’ It’s pretty astounding and very satisfying as an artist.”

In addition to his work on pop records, Jones also had a wildly successful career as a composer for film and television. He made his breakthrough as a composer for Sidney Lumet’s 1964 film The Pawnbroker. Following the success of the movie, Jones was in constant demand and worked on several films including 1966’s Walk, Don’t Run, 1970’s The Out-of-Towners and 1972’s The Getaway. In addition to film, he also composed theme music for hit television shows of the period, including Sanford and Son, The Bill Cosby Show and the critically-acclaimed mini-series Roots.

Jones made his debut as a film producer in 1985’s The Color Purple for which he received an Oscar nomination for his score. In the ‘90s, Jones founded the Quincy Jones Entertainment company which produced popular TV shows such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and MADtv.

Throughout his decades-spanning career in music, Jones received numerous accolades for his achievements — including 28 Grammy Awards, the Grammy Legend Award, an Emmy Award, a Tony award, and seven Academy Award nominations. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.

While Jones’ contributions to the music industry are unparalleled, the artist’s personal life also made headlines over the years. He was married three times and had seven children with five different women. In 1957, Jones married Jeri Caldwell and welcomed daughter Jolie. After calling it quits in 1966, Jones had a brief affair with Carol Reynolds, who gave birth to daughter Rachel in 1963. Jones married Ulla Andersson from 1967 to 1974. During their marriage the twosome welcomed daughter Martina in 1966 and son Quincy in 1968 (he also went on to become a music producer). One day after his divorce from Andersson, Quincy wed actress Peggy Lipton, with whom he welcomed daughters Kidada and actress Rashida Jones in 1974 and 1976, respectively. The couple divorced in 1990. Quincy later dated actress Nastassja Kinski from 1991 to 1995, with whom he welcomed daughter Kenya in 1993.

Jones is survived by his seven children.

Liam Payne’s body is being prepared for transfer back to his native United Kingdom from Argentina.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly that Payne’s remains would be transferred to the British Cemetery in Chacarita, the largest cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to “begin the embalming process to preserve the body for the return trip” to London, England where his funeral will take place. Liam’s farewell mass will be held at the city’s famed Saint Paul’s Cathedral, and then he will be buried.

The source also noted that the embalming process “could take about 48 hours,” meaning that Liam’s father, Geoff Payne, may return to the United Kingdom with his son’s body as soon as Monday, November 4. According to another outlet, Argentina’s La Nación, Geoff was able to repatriate his son’s body after two weeks of bureaucratic processes.

He suffered “serious injuries” after falling from a third-story balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, according to the city’s emergency service chief Alberto Crescenti.
