  • Hailey Bieber’s new faded French manicure is destined to be a huge trend

Whenever Hailey Bieber posts a video of herself where she’s doing her makeup or her hair, we’re always looking out for two things: if she’s sneaking in any as-yet-unreleased Rhode products and what manicure she’s wearing at the moment. And if we’re being honest, with the very rare exception of an unexpected colour, her manicures are usually a take on her signature glazed-donut nails – something in the beige or light pink family, usually a bit shimmery, often sheer, and always pretty.

And when she posted her latest TikTok, in which she’s applying a couple of Rhode products to her lips and filming on a phone protected by her famous Lip Case (of course), we assumed the off-white manicure we saw flitting around was one of her go-to looks. But upon the closest possible inspection, we actually think it’s a deviation from the norm and quite possibly the next big trend in neutral nail looks.

When we zoom in – yes, we take screenshots and basically do forensic investigations of celebrity beauty TikToks here at Allure – we realised we were looking at what we can best describe as a faded manicure. At first glance, it seemed like it may just be a sheer off-white that’s transparent enough to let her natural tips show through, but those natural tips look pretty darn perfect, leading us to believe it’s actually two shades of cream: a sheer one as the base and a more opaque one on the tips, with a not-so-sharp line of demarcation that gives the overall look a faded effect.

But wait! There’s more! When we zoomed in extra close, we could see what’s either some spots on her mirror, or a few little dots on her nails. Alas, Hailey Bieber has yet to give followers a closer, higher-res view.

Naturally, we’ve reached out in hopes of more details and a clearer look. But in the meantime, we’re not going to wait to see a faded French manicure on other hands before we call it: This is going to be one of the biggest trends for the rest of 2025.

  • Selena Gomez’s rose-mocha nails are perfect for the transition to autumn

Is it already fall for Selena Gomez? That’s the impression you might get from a photo of her and her fiancé, Benny Blanco, that she recently posted on Instagram. In it, Gomez wears a thick, fluffy jacket – though, as it turns out, that’s just one element. Underneath, she wears a summery red halter dress while attending a friend’s wedding.

In the penultimate photo of her Instagram dump, you can see her applying her Rare perfume, the latest drop from her beauty brand of the same name. With notes of caramel, tonka bean, and ginger, the fragrance could also be a delicious autumnal mocha latte – perhaps one reason for the founder’s mood. To match the colour of the bottle, Gomez wears nail polish in a rosy mauve shade. The colour is still a good choice for late summer thanks to the soft pink, but since the polish is opaque and has earthy undertones, it also works wonderfully for the first days of autumn.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

This combination of a cool pink, earthy tones, and beige is subtle but still eye-catching. It’s not too gaudy, but also not as minimalist as the other manicure trends we’ve seen this summer. In contrast to the transparent fruit-water nails, the polish is opaque; the colour is also stronger than princess nails, which Victoria Beckham, among others, recently wore.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour – 137 Sorcière

    Essie Gel Couture Princess Charming

This manicure doesn’t require any embellishments, meaning it’s easy to recreate. The most important thing is to focus on a clean finish. The nail beds should be well-groomed and the nails perfectly filed. Short, rounded nails like those worn by Selena Gomez go particularly well with the berry colour. The short length is not only in line with the current trend, but also elegant.

First apply a base coat to even out any unevenness on the nail plate. Next, brush on two coats of the polish – make sure to let each coat harden well so that the polish shines more later. For the ultimate glossy look, add a topcoat – then your rose-mocha nails are finished.

  • Kylie Jenner Transforms Into Demi Moore in ‘Striptease’ for Halloween

Leave it to Kylie Jenner to make a Halloween costume out of no costume at all.

The beauty mogul bared (almost) all in an Instagram post on Thursday, October 31, that showed her as Demi Moore from the 1996 film, Striptease, replete with a movie poster recreation and not so much as a stitch of clothing.

When Jenner, 27, posed for the camera, her hair was windblown and styled long and straight (with bangs!) to mirror the look made famous by Moore, 61. She completed the ’90s beauty moment by donning a matte nude lip, tawny blush and a fresh spray tan for a bronze finish.

The barely-there makeup was in line with Jenner’s more natural approach to glam as of late — however, by stripping down, she may have been making a statement in support of Moore.

During a discussion on The New York Times’ “The Interview” podcast in September 2024, Moore recalled people trying to tear her down not just because the role was provocative but because of the accompanying payday. She became the highest-earning female actor when she landed the part in Striptease for $12.5 million – and that’s when the backlash started.

“Well, with Striptease, it was as if I had betrayed women, and with G.I. Jane, it was as if I had betrayed men,” Moore said on the podcast. “But I think the interesting piece is that when I became the highest-paid actress — why is it that, at that moment, the choice was to bring me down?”

She continued: “I don’t take this personally. I think anyone who had been in the position that was the first to get that kind of equality of pay would probably have taken a hit. But because I did a film that was dealing with the world of stripping and the body, I was extremely shamed.”

During a recent cover story for Variety, Moore said landing her record-breaking Striptease salary was “so powerful for me because it wasn’t just about me; it was about changing the playing field for all women. But because I was portraying a stripper, I betrayed women.”

“The narrative quickly became, ‘Well, she’s only getting paid that number because she’s playing a stripper.’ It hit me really hard,” Moore told the publication at the time. “But at the same time, I understood that anybody who steps out first is going to take the hit. That goes for anybody challenging the status quo.”

In paying homage to Moore’s career-defining role, Jenner seemed to be taking a stand for equal pay for women in Hollywood and beyond. After all, Jenner knows a thing or two about making headlines for financial success — she was named the youngest billionaire by Forbes in 2019.

Some criticized the publication’s decision to call Jenner “self-made,” saying she was born into wealth and privilege. At the time, Jenner responded to the negative backlash, claiming that her parents financially “cut [her] off at the age of 15.”

Judging by her latest Halloween costume, it seems Jenner is continuing to do things her way.

But it’s not just about the greens, lovelies. Rainbow time! Berries, peppers, sweet potatoes – the more colours, the better! These antioxidant champs fight inflammation, like a superhero team for your skin, keeping those pesky breakouts at bay.

Now, listen up, ladies! Here’s my secret weapon for hormonal havoc – spearmint tea! Two cups a day can be a game-changer, especially for those PCOS woes. Studies say it helps reduce acne from the inside out, and trust me, I’ve seen the results – they’re awesome!

Step 2: Light Up Your Life (and Skin)!

Ever heard of red light therapy? Well, it’s basically magic for acne! This red light penetrates your skin, calms inflammation (a major acne culprit!), and boosts collagen production, leaving you with scar-free, youthful skin. Bonus points: it also helps regulate sebum, that oily stuff that clogs pores and causes breakouts.

Wanna try it? Check out the BON CHARGE red light panels. They come in all sizes, from the Bullet for a quick zap to the Super Max for a full-body glow-up. Plus, they use medically-approved lights, so you know it’s the real deal.

Step 3: Ditch the Dodgy Diet

Credit: athima tongloom via Getty Images

Sugar crashes and acne breakouts go hand-in-hand, lovelies. So ditch the sweets, fizzy drinks, and pastries. Dairy can also be a sneaky devil, kicking up sebum production and clogging pores. Deep-fried delights might taste good, but they’ll leave your skin feeling worse. And don’t even get me started on alcohol – dehydration city, leading to breakouts galore!

Listenatarian Tip: Your skin’s a unique snowflake, so what triggers one person’s breakouts might not bother you. Pay attention to how your skin reacts to different foods. Maybe it’s soy, chocolate, or tomatoes – experiment and find your skin’s best friends and frenemies!

Step 4: Clean Beauty for the Win!

Credit: Klassen Images via Getty Images

Harsh chemicals? No thanks! Swap your skincare for clean products that won’t irritate your skin and make acne worse. Look for goodies like calming chamomile and lavender essential oils, antioxidant superheroes like Pycnogenol and Astaxanthin, and gentle exfoliants like glycolic acid to unclog pores and keep your skin looking great.

    Bonus: BON CHARGE Alert!

Remember those red light panels we mentioned? Well, BON CHARGE also offers a range of other goodies to help you achieve that #flawless skin. Check out their website (www.boncharge.com) for the full lowdown, and get ready to say goodbye to acne and hello to glowing skin!

Grande’s Wicked costar Cynthia Erivo asked the singer burning questions about what work she’s had while participating in Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Test series, which was published via YouTube on Monday, September 30.

“Did you get your nose done?” Erivo, 37, asked Grande, 31.

“No,” Grande quickly replied, with the test confirming she was telling the truth. Erivo then asked if she’s ever gotten a “boob job.” Grande denied.

In her caption, Michelle wrote “life lately!” followed by a list of ten things including the likes of “Mid-week dress up” and “My idea of heaven” which she used in reference to her bathtub snap.

Her fans and friends raced to the comments section to share their thoughts, with one writing: “Glowing girl,” while a second noted: “Absolute goddess,” and a third added: “Fab, [it’s] the little things in life – peace, self-care and time.”

When she’s not travelling across the country, Michelle relishes spending quality time with her husband Mark in their stunning mega-mansion.

Over a period of four years, Michelle and Mark have crafted their dream Georgian-style home complete with palatial interiors, a home gym, a spa-like bathroom and a large outdoor swimming pool.

Take a look in the video below…

Speaking to The Observer in December last year, Michelle explained how the building process had been an emotional rollercoaster for both herself and her husband.

Revealing what it was like when she saw the finished project, the star said: “I was filming [Ten Pound Poms] in Australia and hadn’t seen the house for months. And when I walked in, Mark had lit all the candles and… I couldn’t speak for five minutes. He was like, ‘What do you think?’

“I couldn’t find the words to say how I felt, because I was so overwhelmed. I just burst out crying. It still gets me emotional. Because we’ve worked really hard for it. We’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices,” continued Michelle.

“I missed lots of milestones in my life due to work. Mark went to LA and we spent months apart, which was hard. But it’s worth it. And the house – it’s also about security. Because you never know when all this is going to end.”

  • How Sydney Sweeney Achieved Her No-Effort Bun at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival

How Sydney Sweeney Achieved Her No-Effort Bun at the 2024 Toronto Film Festival

Sydney Sweeney is ushering in a new and unexpected hair trend: the ridiculously low bun. The actress sported the no-effort-but-took-effort look at the Eden premiere during the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival on September 7. The coiffure featured Sweeney’s blonde mane pulled back in a loose knot, decorated with a pearl accessory from Jennifer Behr. The ‘do felt delicate, chic, and extremely achievable.

The bun was brought to life by Celebrity hairstylist Glen Oropeza, whose client list also includes Brittany Snow and Ariana Greenblatt. Oropeza used Covet and Mane hair extensions, braiding the bottom part of Sweeney’s crown and pinning the braids up to “hide her short hair for a seamless blend,” the glam pro explained. Next, he added in The Cut-Point Weft hair extensions (from Covet and Mane) in shade Bali and Nissi. He used double sided wig tape to secure the pieces and used four packs of hair in total. To create texture, Oropeza used the Shark FlexStyle Air Styling & Drying System with alternating curl attachments “for a very soft bend throughout the hair.”

Afterward, he finger combed to “gather the hair in a low ponytail.” He left a few pieces out that perfectly framed Sweeney’s face. The beauty expert topped off the look with Kérastase Elixir hair oil and Kérastase Laque Extreme hairspray to add shine.

    Kérastase Laque Extreme Hair Spray

Sweeney’s mane paired well with her bespoke Erdem gown. The dainty design featured a cropped collared cape over a strapless beige dress that fell into a billowing skirt that was adorned with 3-D flowers. Sweeney, who was styled by Molly Dickson, teamed the number with pink pointed-toe suede pumps.

Kendall Jenner’s shaggy bob is so French – and so Kris

Kendall Jenner has the bone structure to pull off a lot of looks, but one she’s never tried is super-short hair. Well, until now.

In her latest ad campaign, the model wears a short, shaggy bob that ends just below her ears, her bangs artfully messy. It’s clearly a wig, but you still get a sense of what it would look like if Kendall ever got a Kut. And what she would look like…is her mother.

“You pulled a total Kris number on this shoot” reads the top comment on Jenner’s Instagram post. Kris herself weighed in, writing, “Oh I love your hair 😍.”

It’’s actually not the first time Jenner has styled herself as her momager’s double. In 2017, Jenner walked the Tom Ford runway with her hair sprayed up to resemble a pixie cut, and backstage the model considered whether or not she’d ever actually go for a shorter look. “I never really thought about it until now,” she said. “But I do think I look a lot like my mother.” No kidding.

In 2022 the other KarJenner sisters’ resemblance to their mom was on full display when they celebrated Kris’s 67th birthday by dressing up as her. For whatever reason, Kendall Jenner wasn’t there for that party, but the other girls hit it out of the park.

If you are actually headed to the salon, we’ve rounded up a the best bob haircuts for 2024 so you can find the perfect one to show to your hairstylist, so they can say, “Well, we could do a version of that, but with your hair….” Don’t be scared! • 9 ways to wear brown hair with blonde highlights, from babylights to rebel streaks

9 ways to wear brown hair with blonde highlights, from babylights to rebel streaks

It’s no surprise that brown hair with blonde highlights remains one of the easiest (and prettiest) ways to wear hair in 2024. The best-of-both hair colour brings together the casual feel of brunette with the luminosity of blonde, to deliver a hair colour that feels bright, beautiful and low maintenance.

If you’re looking to intensify your strands, there are endless gorgeous highlighting techniques to choose from. They suit a broad range of aesthetics, too, whether you want something subtle and delicate (like balayage and babylights), or some high-contrast drama (see: rebel streaks and chunky ’90s highlights).

The techniques are getting more specific and tactical, too. Modern highlights have the power to accentuate facial features and brighten complexions – like your own personal golden hour. You can use colour techniques to create the illusion of light across your strands, whether you want a mini glow-up, a low-maintenance look that will grow our seamlessly, or you want to amplify pretty texture. Where you concentrate that spotlight is up to you.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Before deciding what direction you want to head in, we’ve answered a couple of Google’s most-asked questions when it comes to brown hair with blonde highlights…

Do blonde highlights look good in brown hair?

Of course, there’s as many different shades of brown as there are of blonde and not all combinations will work for your natural colour, your skin tone or your preferred aesthetic. That’s why it’s important to sit down with your colourist to work out what you want to achieve. It’s helpful to take inspo pictures, especially of people with a similar base or natural hair colour to you, and similar colouring. But, blonde highlights can look good across all different brunettes. In general, if you want a softer look, it’s best to keep things low contrast, so if you have dark brunette hair, opt for a darker shade of blonde highlights, or more of a caramel or bronze. If you have mid-light brunette hair, you can push things brighter. That said, high-contrast moneypiece face-framing sections are still popular and nineties chunky highlights have made a return.

Shop Blake Lively’s New Haircare Line at Target Starting at $19!

Us Weekly has affiliate partnerships. We receive compensation when you click on a link and make a purchase. Learn more!

Whatever Blake Lively is doing with her long silky locks is working like magic! And now she’s bringing the sorcery to the rest of Us with a new haircare line!

I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all been obsessed with Lively’s hair ever since our eyes were glued to our screens watching her play Serena van der Woodsen in the hit show, Gossip Girl, in the early 2000s. Impressively long, lustrous and healthy, her mane has always been hair goals — and now we can finally get her dreamy hair too.

In partnership with Target, the It Ends With Us actress launched Blake Brown Beauty on August 4 in an Instagram post from Lively herself. The reason for launching was simple. She wanted to create “something that was more affordable but had the same salon [slash] red carpet performance” with scents that “felt like fragrances” she would “actually buy as high end perfume.” It’s also clean, vegan, cruelty-free and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens or synthetic dyes. It also comes in aesthetically pretty bronze, gold and wood-looking packaging.

For “decades,”  Lively worked with the best people in the beauty industry and “silly amounts” of trial and error to come up with a system that has “worked wonders” on her hair — and now she’s bottled it up for the rest of Us. Starting 20 years ago, Lively started using a shampoo and mask only system — and that’s exactly what’s included in her line.

For the during-shower stuff, the line includes two different Lively-approved shampoos: a hydrating one and a strengthening one, and three hair masks. There’s one for an extra dose of moisture, another for strengthening the strands and the most expensive product in her line, the Rich Reset Pre-Shampoo Mask, which makes the hair feel extra soft and silky.

The line includes out-of-shower hair maintenance and styling products as well. There’s the Glam Mousse, which is a fantastic multitasker, giving the hair extra body and volume while also taming frizz and flyaways with its lightweight formula. To keep your hair fresh in between washes, Lively added in a dry shampoo, which is made with an amber vanille scent. And if you simply must have some conditioner as a part of your routine, the line also includes the All-In-Wonder Leave-In Potion, which detangles, improves the look of damage and primes hair for styling.

If you want your hair to be the “single most identifiable” part about you like Lively, the actress’ new haircare line and system is bound to get you there. Shop the lineup at Target starting at just $19!

The first picture posted to the account four days ago was the back of a woman’s head – and it looks a whole lot like Blake’s signature honey blonde hair. It heavily hinted toward a hair brand.

Then on 31st July, Blake answered all our questions with a post confirming the launch of her new beauty brand. “Ever since I was a kid, through adolescence, early adulthood, motherhood, work, personal life, whenever, wherever, the single most identifiable part about me has always been my personalit— no? Not my personality? Oh… My hair,” she said.

“It’s my longest companion in life. For 36 years and counting. And like any relationship, it’s healthiest when you take good care of each other. To love it well, I’ve found a system that has worked wonders for me, a hack of sorts through decades of working with the very best people in the industry, and silly amounts of trial and error. I spent 7 years (I know. It toggles between impressive and wtf took so long) obsessively developing every detail of my newest baby, @blakebrownbeauty,” she explained.

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“Why create a line if I had products that worked? Great question,” she continued. “I wanted something that was more affordable but had the same salon/red carpet performance… turns out highest quality is most expensive, who knew?? There’s a reason brands tend to have to make compromises, but we didn’t stop til we got there. (Refer back to 7 years in the making). I also wanted scents that felt like fragrances I would actually buy as high end perfume. I wanted it to be cleaner than the products I was using with great results so I didn’t feel nervous sharing it with family. I wanted it to attempt to show how beautiful maximum sustainability can be. I wanted it to be vegan, cruelty free and formulated without sulfates, silicones, parabens, synthetic dyes etc. As someone who loves design desperately, I wanted it to look ✨stunning✨ on your shelf because that’s valuable space in your home, it should be beautiful. I was uncompromising on achieving all of those things at once. 😵‍💫🫣🥰🔥 And now I see why there was nothing out there that hit all my goals simultaneously. It was a beast to build. But I couldn’t be prouder of it what we created for you. Time to fly from the nest baby… 🥹♥️ @blakebrownbeauty,” she said.

  • Emma Stone is back to super dark brunette

Emma Stone is back to super dark brunette

Emma Stone is embracing her dark side once more. When we last saw the star at the Cannes Film Festival, her hair was a warm auburn shade—a colour the Oscar winner returns to again and again. However, it appears that she’s taken a cue from Bella Baxter and gone back to a darker tone for the New York premiere of her new movie Kinds of Kindness.

While Stone’s hair still has a slight reddish sheen to it, it’s definitely more brunette than red these days. The colour is a combo of espresso brunette with a red undertone, which brings out Stone’s light green eyes. It’s as though her Cannes colour was bumped up a few levels to bring the drama; Stone’s go-to colourist and hairstylist Mara Roszak called her look “vamp goddess,” which definitely tracks with the dark hair and black gown with sheer polka dot and net panels. Roszak styled Stone’s hair simply, tucking it behind her ears and and adding a hint of bend and product for a damp look. Makeup-wise, Stone kept it equally simple with a pretty peach blush and pink lips.

Emma Stone poses at a premiere in a black dress. Her hair is a dark brown with red undertones.

    Getty Images

Emma Stone is one of the biggest colour chameleons in Hollywood. She’s a natural blonde and occasionally goes back to her roots, but seems to love red shades the most. Stone often swaps colours for specific roles; for example, she was platinum blonde for her role as Gwen Stacy in the Spider-Man movies and a redhead in La La Land, though Stone returned to her natural blonde shade in spring 2023, when she debuted a bright, sunny blonde bob. It’s been awhile since she’s been super dark brunette, but we’d be remiss not to mention her Poor Things character Bella; Stone wore nearly four feet of jet-black hair extensions and zero makeup for the performance, which won her her second Best Actress Oscar. Is this fresh darker colour for a role or is Stone just flipping the script on the whole “going blonde for summer” thing? That’s a TBD for now!

Paris Jackson debuts beautiful new shoulder tattoo in photo showcasing many of her other 80+ designs

Paris Jackson loves her tattoos, boasting over 80 such designs all over her body, and has just added a brand new work of her art to her collection.

The 26-year-old musician took to her social media to share the new ink she’d received from West Hollywood based tattoo artist Nicole L.

On her shoulder, alongside her drawings of musical notes, colorful feathers, and an eye in a combination of the sun and the moon, Paris etched a phrase in Sanskrit.

Roughly translated from the Devanagari script, her tattoo reads: “Go there, however, for the grace of god,” and is one of the many Devanagari tattoos on Paris’ body, most notably including symbols from Hindi and Sanskrit on her chest enshrined in colorful circles.

“Thank you for believing in me,” Nicole captioned a snap of Paris she posted, in which she held her knit top to her chest and had her hair up in a knot to show off the new ink, and fans fell in love with the new tattoo. She also accessorized with gold accent jewelry pieces that made the freshly inscribed ink pop.

Paris has many meaningful tattoos all over her body, some honoring her late father Michael Jackson, some in tribute to other musical greats like John Lennon, and some that represent mystical and spiritual concepts she identifies with.

For her appearance at the 2024 Grammy Awards in February, however, the singer made the bold move of covering up all her tattoos as she wore a body-baring Celine black dress, appearing completely unrecognizable without her signature ink and placing all the focus on her fit for the night.

Her Sanskrit phrase roughly translates to “Go there, however, for the grace of god”

She told Entertainment Tonight on the carpet: “It’s just Celine, mama. It’s all Celine head to toe with my own jewelry and covered all the tattoos,” revealing that the process “took a few hours.”

Of the decision to hide her ink completely, she explained: “Well, I like switching things up. I love my tattoos, I love my piercings, I love all the body modification stuff, art, and also sometimes I don’t want it to distract from the art that is the fashion I’m wearing. And it gives the dress its own moment, you know?”

In a 2022 interview with People, the singer revealed that her very first tattoo was a spontaneous move she made when she was much younger, mentioning that it was “on my boob, it’s an alien.”

“I just wanted it — it’s kind of how they all are,” she mentioned of her ever growing collection of body ink. “I’ve done a few of my own.”

She has spoken in the past about how a majority of her tattoos honor her dad, who passed away in 2009 when she was just 11. “I have a pair of my dad’s PJs and a bracelet that he wore the entire time I knew him. I have it in a safe place,” she told LVR.

  • The glass slipper mani guarantees you’ll have a Cinderella moment

The glass slipper mani guarantees you’ll have a Cinderella moment

With the official start of summer only weeks away it’s tempting to lean towards opaque pastel polishes. But a new stealth nail trend is emerging. Coined the “glass slipper mani” by celebrity manicurist Tom Bachik, it’s the latest riff on glazed donut nails that we’ve been waiting to show off against a tan.

Lauren Sánchez debuted the look at the 2024 Met Gala as the perfect pearly complement to her strapless Oscar de la Renta black gown, featuring mirrored embellishments on the full skirt in the shape of flowers.

Picking up on the shattered glass effect, and a fairytale interpretation of the Met Gala’s “Garden of Time” theme, Tom caption his Instagram post: “Synergizing off the stained glass perfection of her custom @oscardelarenta gown, we wanted the nails to be very feminine and elegant like the soft light diffusion of sheer iridescent glass.”

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

To recreate Cinderella’s fabled glass slipper, Lauren wore neat, long, almond-shaped gel tips. Tom laid down a smattering of tiny pale pink metallic flakes with flecks of icy blue and green before setting them with a clear, glass-effect gel nail varnish to achieve the desired high-shine finish.

All before hand-painting a miniature white rose on a single pinky finger “to add a little bit of extra personality”, he said.

The pink glass slipper mani is characterised by a prismatic shimmer rather than heavy glitter or an in-your-face chromatic metal overlay. Above all else, it’s dainty and so light-reflective, it’s guaranteed to reveal the full spectrum of pastel hues in golden hour.

You can achieve a similar look at home with the help of Mia Secret Metallic Flakes in CH-21 topped with the brand’s Glass Finish Gel.

Alternatively, sweep on Manucurist’s Active Shine, which is like a highlighter for nails and contains antioxidants to hydrate and brighten. Or add a single coat of Nails Inc. Plant Power Nail Polish in Going Somewhere over a pale pink hue for a custom-made glass slipper mani.

Disclaimer: we can’t promise you a prince at the end of the night, but you’re guaranteed to get a truckload of compliments.

  • Avril Lavigne fits into her ‘Complicated’ tank top and tie 22 years later in latest photo – and she hasn’t changed one bit

Avril Lavigne fits into her ‘Complicated’ tank top and tie 22 years later in latest photo – and she hasn’t changed one bit

Avril Lavigne has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades, making her splashy debut in 2002 with her song “Complicated,” and it looks like she’s still got it!

The singer, now 39, shared a new series of photos on Instagram teasing something big to come very soon, and did so with a Throwback Thursday moment that hit close to home.

Avril posted a photograph of herself wearing the very same white tank top with red star detailing she wore in the “Complicated” music video, paired with the same black neck tie.

The only difference was in the bottoms, she opted for similarly wide-legged black pants, although the newer pair sported rips across one leg and a silver chain. The only notable difference many fans noticed between both images of Avril was her currently more platinum blonde hair.

“22 Years Later and my ‘Complicated’ tank top and necktie still fit! Announcement tomorrow at 10am ET,” she penned on Instagram, and very quickly, her fans were obsessed.

They left comments like: “This look literally changed my life,” and: “Amazing. 22 years later, you still can rock the tie,” plus: “You been a rockstar since rock started.”

“Complicated” was Avril’s debut single and came at the key inflection of pop, punk, and rock in the early 2000s, when mainstream rock and grunge was being replaced by more punk and pop sounds.

The Canadian singer’s arrival on the scene was part of the movement heralding the resurgence of pop-punk, kick started by acts like Green Day and Blink-182 (which includes Travis Barker, whose label Avril is now signed to).

Avril’s debut single and its parent album, 2002’s Let Go, set a new precedent for females in the space, with the singer often being dubbed the genre’s “queen,” becoming one of the first women to achieve major mainstream success with punk-driven pop songs.

“Complicated” was a worldwide top-ten hit, selling over 3 million physical copies at the time in the US alone, and receiving two Grammy Award nominations. However, her career truly skyrocketed when her album dropped that June.

Let Go was an immediate commercial and critical smash, being credited for solidifying punk in the mainstream, and receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.

The tank tops and neckties were the most distinct part of her aesthetic

It is also Avril’s highest-selling album to date, having sold nearly 20 million copies worldwide so far and receiving multi-platinum certifications across the globe. It was the biggest debut record of 2002 and is the highest-selling album by a Canadian artist in the 21st century.

“Complicated” and the rest of the hits from Let Go (like “Sk8er Boi,” “I’m With You,” and “Losing Grip”) will most likely be making it into the set-list for Avril’s upcoming Greatest Hits Tour, which kicks off later this month in Canada.

  • Zayn Malik’s Tattoo Collection Is Filled With Sentimental Ink – POPSUGAR Australia

Zayn Malik’s Tattoo Collection Is Filled With Sentimental Ink – POPSUGAR Australia

Malik’s chest is covered designs that he’s amassed over the years. He has a skull on each side, wings across his chest, Arabic lettering, and Hadid’s eyes at the base of it all. He has two different pieces of Arabic on his chest, one that says, “Be true to who you are,” according to a Twitter post, and another that is his grandfather’s name, Walter.

The singer’s right arm has a bevy of designs. On his right arm, there is a bandana design wrapped around the top of his arm, near his elbow. Below that, he has the word “chillin” with a little palm tree. In the middle of his arm, he has a hand with its fingers crossed. Beneath that one, you can see a number, and it’s part of his “X Factor” audition number, 165,616, which he has scattered around the arm. Besides the one in honor of the talent show, he’s never explained the meanings behind these designs.
‘s eyes is another mandala tattoo that juts out from what was once a simple design of wings and a skull in the middle of his chest that has been expanded into a larger colored piece. He also used to have a set of lips tattooed on his chest that he’s since covered.

On his torso, he has a filled-in black heart to cover a previous tattoo that said, “born lucky,” in Chinese, as well as a holstered gun on his side. On his ribs, he has a playing card that says, “a pirate’s life for me,” underneath it. He also has “DON’T THINK I WON’T” tattooed on his lower abdomen. While that is a line from the song “Don’t Think I Won’t” by Mark Wills, Malik hasn’t made any public mention of getting the tattoo for that reason.

  • The Mystery and Allure Taylor Swift’s “Basic” Beauty Aesthetic – POPSUGAR Australia

The Mystery and Allure Taylor Swift’s “Basic” Beauty Aesthetic – POPSUGAR Australia

Life can be unpredictable, so it only makes sense that as humans, we try to craft and stick to routines as much as possible. From capsule wardrobes to signature perfumes, there is comfort in sticking to what you know works. That’s why, when you can see yourself in a celebrity you love – be it because of their approachable outfit or low-key makeup – you might gravitate toward them. It’s one of the many reasons Taylor Swift is so popular today.

Yes, she is a global pop star and songwriter who somehow manages to write lyrics that almost everyone can relate to, but when you think of Taylor Swift, it’s not hard to conjure up an image of the star. This is likely because it has rarely changed over her almost two decades-long career. Swift’s hair color has remained a relatively similar shade of dirty blond, the wildest she’s gone with her makeup is a a red lip, and her nails are usually kept short, square, and painted with some sort of neutral shade. Those characteristics could easily describe a handful of people that you know at this very moment. They are looks anyone could create at home.

“The fact that Taylor Swift’s [beauty aesthetic] appears attainable while still being elegant and casual at the same time is exciting for her fans,” Nadia Teymoorian, clinical director at the mental health facility Moment of Clarity in Orange County, California, tells PS. “Her fans are a wide range of ages and genders; however, it seems the younger generations are more attracted to her music and her looks, which are easily duplicated.”

On one hand, some find her beauty aesthetic safe to the point of boring. Others consider it a mindful approach to a level of fame few will ever reach. “It would seem that Taylor Swift is a celebrity that takes responsibility for the influence she has,” Teymoorian says. “She does this by not endorsing or participating in outlandish behavior, which extends to the way she adorns her face and body.”

It’s a theory that could have some merit. In Swift’s 2020 documentary titled “Miss Americana,” the singer revealed the reactions of the people closest to her after she decided to speak up about politics for the first time. She was immediately met with resistance, most notably from her father, who urged her to think about the potential consequences of her actions. To that end, it makes sense to conclude that Swift has to think of every aspect of her life at all times – down to the way that she looks – in an attempt to remain as neutral and brand-safe as humanly possible. This is what gives fans the level of relatability that makes a star like Swift as influential as she is, and it’s worked.

“In terms of fashion, she has a clean look with a focus on appropriate choices that a common person could wear or feel comfortable in,” Teymoorian says. “This on top of often simple, yet glowy skin, and very approachable hair and nails, is possibly the key to her beauty and relatability.”

Alternatively, in a world that’s obsessed with micro-trends, having a signature aesthetic that doesn’t require sitting for hours in a salon chair or will have you questioning why you decided to DIY that manicure, is a message that anyone can get behind. “With the rapid dissemination of information online, trends can become oversaturated and lose their novelty quickly,” Sanam Hafeez, PsyD, an NYC neuropsychologist and director of Comprehend the Mind, previously told PS. “This phenomenon has accelerated the turnover rate of trends, making it challenging for individuals and brands to keep up.”

Maybe Swift’s “capsule wardrobe” approach to beauty has been ahead of the curve all along. A go-to haircut or color, manicure, or makeup look that you know works for you is an easy way to look put together, sans the decision paralysis that can accompany your getting ready process. Still, it’s important to note that while she’s found her aesthetic, beauty is whatever you make it. As Swift has proven, sticking to the script that works for you will never go out of style.

  • Zendaya used this unexpected (and mega affordable) accessory to level-up her ballerina bun

Zendaya used this unexpected (and mega affordable) accessory to level-up her ballerina bun

Last night, Zendaya wrapped her round-the-world press tour for her new film, Challengers, with the final premiere in Los Angeles.

Along the way, the actor has given us a hair colour transformation from a deep chocolatey brunette to a brand new (and very, very shiny) penny coloured blonde. She’s also served up fantasy Disney princess lengths, smart chignons, the most jaw-dropping XXL braided ponytail, and a Grace Kelly-inspired soft wave bob. So, obviously, we couldn’t wait to see what Z and her hair stylist, Ursula Stephen, would sign us out with.

For the occasion, Ursula created a look she described as “a ballerina bun, undone, accompanied by airy, whimsical texture.” The look plays into the cute balletcore beauty trend that’s continuing to recruit fans. But beyond that, it offers up a pretty and practical style for us to add to our line-up (one that even works like a dream on greasy hair days).

Luckily for us, we were able to tap up Ursula for a breakdown on everything she did to achieve the look for Zendaya. Notably, Ursula made use of a retro hair hack – the humble hair donut – to give the style extra oomph.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

Here’s how to get Zendaya’s undone ballerina bun…

    Prep

“First, we started with clean, damp hair and added SexyHair Healthy Blowout Crème throughout the hair to prep for hair that will last all night,” says Ursula.

    Blow dry

“Then, I blow dried for a straight sleek finish with volume at the roots.”

    Thickness

“Next, I added a couple of Skinny Clip-Ins from The Hair Shop at the crown of the head to create more hair and volume for an up-do,” Ursula says.

    Shape

“I then grabbed all of the hair into a ponytail and secured with a bungee, and twisted and pinned the hair into a donut,” she said.

    Texture

Finally, “I sprinkled the Big SexyHair Powder Play Volumising & Texturising Powder along the hairline and nape area, and used my fingertips to roll the hair in a circular motion to create a fuzzy, airy, ‘dishevelled’ texture,” says Ursula.

So there you have it, the hair donut is the secret accessory that will level-up your ballerina bun.

  • Brittany Mahomes dyed her hair bright red and looks completely different

Brittany Mahomes dyed her hair bright red and looks completely different

Now the weather is finally warming up, so is our hair – and Brittany Mahomes is leading the charge.

The WAG extraordinaire, who’s best known and beloved for her long, luscious, and creamy blonde hair, debuted a shocking hair colour transformation via Instagram: The 28-year-old, blonde for as long as we can remember, is now – gasp – a redhead!

And we don’t mean she got red highlights, went strawberry blonde, or chose a shade of auburn so discrete you can’t really tell it’s red without certain lighting.

No, Brittany Mahomes is committed to the redhead lifestyle. This red-hot take on the shade is the perfect blend of cowboy copper and hot taki red: bold, bright, and a total one-eighty from her usual look. And honestly, it looks amazing.

“Feeling spicy🔥🌶️🤭,” Brittany captioned a photo carousel in which she showed off her bold new shade. “Leave em on RED,” replied her hairstylist, Laurabeth Cabbott, who styled her hair for the photoshoot the former soccer player shared.

Brittany’s followers are loving the new look. Many conveyed surprise and disbelief—“WAIT, WHO IS SHE?”; “Is this real life?!”—but most were simply gobsmacked at how amazing Brittany looks as a redhead.

    brittany mahomes red hair

“Whoa I had to do a double take while on a walk with my pup!!!” another Instagram user wrote in a comment. “If this doesn’t make your eyes pop anymore than they already do….wowzas! Beautiful girl!!”

After dropping her new look, Brittany took to Instagram Stories to share additional photos of the shade, snapping a sweet picture posing alongside her three-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye, in the mirror, followed by a Boomerang selfie.

In case you’re feeling inspired to go red ahead of summertime, you’re far from alone (BRB, texting my colourist). Fortunately, we do have some intel on how to get the look.

Brittany’s shade is clearly tinged with hot taki red. Lauren Mildice, a colourist at Chicago’s Maxine Salon, who coined the name, says it’s a colour you can personalise to your liking: “It gives off a different type of flare. With a murky volcanic blaze, your colour will be soft yet powerful.”
