As a fashion editor, I naturally tend to rack up a pretty lengthy list of things I want to buy at any given moment. Most of the time, that list consists of basics and a few trendy thrills, but it also includes a few key luxury buys—specifically, a few “goal” designer labels. Let’s just say that if money were no object, I’d have a closet full of serene and minimalistic pieces from brands such as The Row, Khaite, and Totême. But since I do, in fact, have a cap on my shopping budget, I’m looking to emulate this goal aesthetic on a slightly more affordable budget.
Enter this shopping list. While keeping an eye out for specific details like a western trim on an ankle boot or the whipstitching on a jacket, I’ve landed on 26 pieces that fit the overall mood of that cool minimal wardrobe while still remaining largely wallet friendly. In other words, they only look ultra elevated. With that, continue on to see the affordable gems I’m currently eyeing.
Normally, we’d be a touch bummed if a celebrity we love got married on the down low, but since the current bride in question is Ashley Olsen, the low-key quality of her supposed wedding last week is right on par with our expectations for the actor-turned-designer. According to Page Six, Olsen and her longtime boyfriend, artist Louis Eisner, wed in an intimate ceremony on December 28 at a private home in Bel-Air, California.
In line with the couple’s relationship as a whole, the entire affair was reportedly a private one, with the publication stating that there were only a few dozen people in attendance, though that didn’t stop the celebration from lasting well into the night: “It went late with 50 people or so total,” a source told Page Six.
Unfortunately, if their wedding was anything like Ashley’s twin sister and business partner Mary Kate’s back in 2015, photos from the ceremony are likely to remain unseen. Our best guess? The bride wore The Row. In lieu of wedding photos, scroll down to see a few rare shots of the couple and find out all we know about their relationship.
There is one hue that has been dominating lately, and its reach is undeniable when the likes of A-listers like Kendall Jenner are wearing it head to toe. The modern-day green era can most easily be pinned to Daniel Lee’s “Bottega green,” a kelly green that was most widely spread via his infamous accessories. But more recently, the green-sphere has expanded. It seems almost any shade goes, from buttery olive green to Nickelodeon slime neon.
In my own wardrobe, which is admittedly bright, I’ve noticed myself accenting with bright-green bags, tonal green looks (see above), and even green sunglasses. But green comes in all forms, and it doesn’t have to be as daring as green sunglasses. Use it as an accent to your simpler ensembles or choose a muted pistachio shade like Kendall Jenner’s below look with neutral accessories.
When fashion items are deemed “out,” they fall into one of two categories. Either they’ve simply hit their peak for the time being and are expected to return to grace in the future, or they’re so hated by then that we collectively promise never to wear them again. Leather leggings, similar to extra-low-rise jeans and whale tails, fell into the latter group. But just like its neighbors on the list, the controversial legging style is unexpectedly back. For proof, see Hailey Bieber.
During her and Kylie Jenner’s holiday trip to Aspen for New Year’s Eve, the model and Rhode founder was spotted downtown wearing an all-black après-ski outfit consisting of an oversize, belted Saint Laurent coat, sunglasses, and a Le 5 À 7 shoulder bag as well as Loewe leather puffer boots and matching leggings—leather leggings just like the ones she used to wear on repeat back in the late 2010s. Oddly enough, this time around, her choice of skintight bottoms didn’t result in the ick like it would have even just a few months ago. Instead, I get the feeling that leather leggings will be back to reigning in the fashion world in no time now that they have Bieber’s stamp of approval.
Check out her Aspen look and shop leather leggings below.
Let’s face it: Our smartphones have become our most important accessory. Whether you’re on board with this fact or not, how we accessorize them via phone cases has become another way for us to complete an outfit, as we do with our choice in shoes, bags, and jewelry. And the easiest (and usually the least expensive) way to give any look a designer upgrade is by opting for a case from one of our favorite luxury labels. While there are plenty of logo-emblazoned phone cases out there, some of today’s designs really lean into our need to be connected at all times. Chains and straps allow us to literally wear our phones like a purse or wristlet rather than play Tetris to try and fit them into our mini bags or spend forever trying to fish them out of our oversize totes. Even classic snap-on cases offer much more than a simple logo—think fun textures and materials, 3D details, and functional pockets for credit cards. Ahead, we rounded up 26 of today’s must-have designer phone cases, available at a range of price points. Don’t worry; they don’t all cost an arm and a leg. Keep scrolling to check out the very best from today’s luxury favorites, including Gucci, Prada, Bottega Veneta, and many more.

While Urban Sophistication may be a newer brand, it’s already garnered a cult following, including Gigi Hadid.

In the S/S 23 collections, duster coats emerged as one of the major trends poised to be huge this year. Brands including Saint Laurent and The Row sent floor-sweeping tailored coats down the runways and we ear-marked the piece as one of the key pieces to own in 2023. Unsurprisingly, celebrities are already adopting them into their winter wardrobes—proof that the sleek, statement-making staple is a great investment buy for the year ahead.
While the duster coats celebs are wearing range from oversize tailored wool styles as spotted on Ashley Olsen to elegant satin designs as seen on Zoë Kravitz to sleek leather outerwear as Kendall Jenner recently wore, their coats all have one thing in common: Long, maxi hemlines that practically touch the ground. Ahead, see how the most stylish celebrities are wearing the duster coat trend and shop their directional winter looks.
Since the age of 16, Taylor Swift has been releasing music that has helped people with every emotion in spades. With the lead-up to her highly anticipated tour in 2023, fans have been taking a deep dive into all her beloved eras, from country princess to a glitzier pop star. Every artist goes through style changes throughout their career, but Swift has proven time and time again that she is not your average artist. With each album, she meticulously crafts an aesthetic to pair with them. This not only includes the cover art, but her Instagram layouts, red carpet ensembles, tour looks, and music video choices. In Swift’s world, there’s no such thing as leaving things less than perfect. Despite the past notions of her being “boy-obsessed” or “vindictive”, there is only one way I’d describe her now—a devoted artist.
Swift first came onto the music scene in 2006 with fiery curly hair, cowboy boots, and a guitar always in tow. Her latest album, Midnights, consists of celestial dreams. Think jewel-encrusted dresses, metallic eye makeup, and plenty of revenge dresses. Along the way, bold red lipstick was a signature touch she kept all the way through.
In honor of her upcoming tour, we’re taking a look back into every era part of Swift’s career. If you were lucky enough to get tickets, you might even get inspired to figure out your concert look. Do you resonate with the cinematic lyrics and homey cardigans of Folklore? Or the revenge-ridden and angsty touches of Reputation? Keep scrolling to take a look.
We’re used to seeing photos of Katie Holmes either walking the streets of NYC in stylish outfits, or on the red carpet. But this time, she was photographed at the airport, making a post-Christmas return to the city. And as is always the case with Holmes, she was dressed in a practical outfit that was as stylish as it was wearable.
As someone who prefers to wear jeans over leggings or sweatpants to the airport, I love seeing a celebrity travel outfit that includes jeans that are actually comfortable. The instances of celebs wearing stiff, high-waisted jeans to the airport are well-documented, but Holmes opted for a pair of loose wide-leg jeans in a light wash. Her jeans are a now-sold-out pair by Wandler but there are plenty of similar styles on the market to choose from (see below).
Baggy jeans, another style in the loose-jean family, were obviously the reigning denim trend of 2022 (with low-rise being a close second), but wide-leg jeans like Holmes’s are a classic style that has been a part of many excellent airport outfits over the years. You can now add Holmes’s 2022 holiday travel outfit to that list.
Scroll to shop wide-leg jeans that are perfect for travel, just like Holmes’s.
Spotting Mary-Kate or Ashley Olsennot wearing The Row from head to toe is about as rare as spotting the actors and fashion designers, who are notoriously private, at all. Really, the only time we do see them in another brand is when they trade in their high-end The Row loafers, boots, or slip-ons for sneakers—and not only expensive ones.
From $55 Vans to $85 New Balances, fashion’s favorite siblings have more than mastered the high-low look thanks to their vast sneaker collections. (It helps when the high end of the spectrum is a $2000 cashmere duster coat, but that’s a topic for another day.) Below, shop the sneakers most worn by the Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. My suggestion? Don’t wait. Knowing their level of influence, sizes won’t last long.
Love it or hate it, there’s no denying the fact that nepotism is a potent force in the fashion industry. Many of the biggest names in modeling all had a leg up on their competition thanks to their famous parents, including Bella and Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Willow Smith, and Lily-Rose Depp, just to name a few. (When you extend it to the entertainment industry, the list grows exponentially longer!)
So who will fill these models’ shoes when it comes to the next generation of so-called nepo babies? Well, I have some ideas. I made a TikTok video in September about this very subject, and it racked up over 500 comments, sparking a lively debate about who has the It factor. Scroll down to see my predictions.
Sure, Kaia Gerber’s modeling career is white-hot right now, but let’s not forget about Mom. Cindy Crawford continues to serve style inspiration well into her 50s and I have a feeling her streak will continue indefinitely. Another OG supermodel, Christy Turlington, has also been on my radar again lately thanks to several fantastic recent outfits, so I decided to whip up a little guide to dressing like them.
Naturally, both Cindy and Christy are pros at giving us range. They can pull off red-carpet minis just as easily as laidback denim looks—and there’s a 10 out of 10 chance I’ll want to copy whatever they’re wearing. Scroll down to re-create winter outfit ideas courtesy of Cindy Crawford and Christy Turlington.
In Jess, Olivera found a fearless, smart, and ambitious young woman. “What I love about her the most is she has a lot of courage in every aspect of her life,” she says. “She shows courage in life because of the circumstances she’s in. She never had a relationship with her father. She’s going through the grieving phase after losing her mother. She’s a Dreamer, so she’s a recipient of DACA, so that in itself is another form of courage she’s had to put on. But she’s also courageous in her friendships. She’s not afraid to be wrong. She has courage in the fact that she’s constantly there for her friends no matter what. And she has courage in her belief in herself, and I think that’s really beautiful.”
Olivera’s entry point to the character came via their shared care for family and their Mexican heritage. Though Jess is first-generation and Oliviera is second-generation, they both have very strong ties to Mexico, which allowed the actress to relate to and understand Jess better.
While stepping in to lead a beloved franchise (and filling the shoes of Nicolas Cage) is no easy feat, Olivera took the responsibility seriously and felt safe in the hands of the creators who entrusted her with the role. It also helped that she had co-star Catherine Zeta-Jones to lean on. The legendary actress, who plays black-market-antiquities dealer Billie Pearce, was like a mother figure on set. “She was so willing to put me under [her] wing, and I really felt like she was going to take care of me,” Olivera shares. “She definitely pulled through for me in moments when I felt like certain set days were more difficult. It was a really grueling filming process. TV works really fast, and I was in almost every scene, so that was very tiring. Every single time she would come to set, she was constantly checking in on me. She was like, ‘How’s my princess?’”
For an actress early in her career, that kind of mentorship proved invaluable. Zeta-Jones also gave Olivera the reassurance to speak up for her needs and take her time. “She gave me a lot of encouragement, and it helped me feel less stuck in that process,” she says. “It was just really lovely to get to hear that she had had similar experiences herself and learned that… In a scene, don’t rush. Take your time. We can take it again if we needed to.”
It’s powerhouse women like Zeta-Jones as well as the likes of Sandra Bullock, Amy Adams, Viola Davis, and Sandra Oh and their diverse acting résumés (crossing over from TV to film and across comedy to drama) who continue to be an inspiration for Olivera. “They have had such longevity in their careers, and what more could I want in mine just starting out? I look up to them,” she says, her eyes starting to light up. Olivera’s exposure to the cinematic world started at a young age when her obsession with the animated film My Neighbor Totoro (“I watched it every weekend”) showed her that something existed in the world where she could escape, feel certain emotions, and be a part of a story that wasn’t her own. And it’s that transformative element that continues to fuel her passion for the craft.
The same goes for Olivera’s fashion philosophy. “I never want to be held to dressing one way,” she says of her ever-evolving aesthetic. When asked if she has any current style icons, she is quick to name Janelle Monáe—with whom she shares a stylist, Alexandra Mandelkorn. “She is constantly showing up to show out!” she says of the actress and musician. “With her, even when she shows up to the Met or any look in general, it’s just so uniquely her. And she can also do a variation of a bunch of different looks.” Similar to acting, red carpets offer Olivera a sense of escapism.
As for the National Treasure: Edge of History press, Olivera and Mandelkorn have some tricks up their sleeves. She can’t tell me much but says to expect some clever nods to the project and maybe some Latin American designers. “For me, I love a lot of patterns. In general, I think color is really brilliant, and if it’s done in a way that suits me, then I think we are hitting the money,” she adds.
The Jenner sisters are back to their usual Aspen antics it seems. Less than a year after Kendall Jenner broke the internet when she posed in the snow in nothing but a black string bikini and Miu Miu’s F/W 21 faux fur boots while vacationing in Aspen, her little sister debuted an almost identical look in the same ski town, where the duo is currently vacationing (and having plenty of fun, as documented on Kendall’s TikTok).
Over the weekend, Kylie Jenner posted a slideshow of photos of herself posing in a vinyl bikini by Good American, sporty sunglasses, and sand-colored Loewe fur snow boots, with nothing but a white bathrobe to stay warm in Aspen’s snowy climate. And while she didn’t get quite as familiar with the outdoor elements as Kendall did 11 months prior, preferring to capture the look indoors, Kylie’s bikini-and-boots outfit was equally shocking (in the best way).
Scroll down to see how the two looks compare and shop our favorite snow boots of the season.
When it comes to fashion in 2022, there’s one thing that I am absolutely certain about: If both Taylor Russell and Hailey Bieber wear the same article of clothing, it’s going viral. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it—simply put, their combined influence is too substantial for something they mutually agree on to not make it big. Right now, the item the two of them can’t get enough of is Loewe’s puffer bomber jacket.
The bubble-like bomber was first seen on the runway at the Spanish fashion brand’s F/W 22 show in green and black leather. The latter colorway has since been spotted on the Bones and All actress and Loewe ambassador on multiple occasions—first at a screening for the film put on by the brand’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson, and again in a viral TikTok. More recently, the nylon option was seen on Bieber, paired with baggy black jeans and her go-to Bottega Veneta Jodie bag, for a date with Justin Bieber.
There’s just one catch. With a price tag that bottoms at $2990 and tops at $7750, Loewe’s sought-after puffer isn’t exactly budget friendly. Luckily, if you’re not ready to indulge in Russell’s and Bieber’s exact jackets, there are plenty of equally covetable bomber jackets on the market right now to shop instead. See my favorites below.
Leave it to Hailey Bieber to test-drive the budding next-season trend that our editors can’t stop talking about. The model and entrepreneur is regularly ahead of the trend curve, especially since her partnership with Saint Laurent allows her to be one of the first to pluck looks from the most recent runway. And that’s exactly what Bieber did recently while attending an event for Tiffany & Co. in Miami during Art Basel. She stepped out in a Saint Laurent minidress that featured a floral appliqué detail, which hits on a rising “pretty” trend we’ve already covered: rosettes.
We spotted these 3D floral details across the spring/summer 2023 collections in varying iterations, like the floral-adorned bags at Prada, the organza chokers at Mirror Palais, and, of course, the rose-embellished dresses at Saint Laurent. We’ve even started to spot a number of rosette moments on Instagram, but until this Bieber ensemble, we had yet to see celebrities interpret the look.
Ahead, see how Bieber styled the budding floral trend and shop our picks for the look. Then, keep scrolling to see more noteworthy celebrity looks from the star-studded Art Basel events.
As of late, practically every time we’ve spotted Kendall Jenner, she’s been wearing super-sharp, point-toe boots or heels. As such, the ‘90s silhouette has hit its stride in 2022, quickly becoming one of the year’s most sought-after styles following a long period of round- and square-toe supremacy. There’s only one problem. After spending so much time away from our wardrobes, we’re all a bit rusty on what to actually wear with all our new pointy footwear. That’s where Jenner comes in.
From pairing the style with tights and underwear (no pants in sight) to combining them with leather trenches, the supermodel’s street style has become a how-to of sorts, demonstrating every cool way to wear point-toe shoes. And her latest look is no exception. Spotted leaving a late-night dinner at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, Jenner wore an all-pistachio outfit, including a deep-V sweater, matching suede pants, and her regular point-toe boots. Particularly note-worthy were her bottoms, the shape of which appears to be the perfect match for her go-to shoes. Low-rise with a bootcut shape, they fall perfectly over the toe of her shoes, highlighting the shoe trend everyone either wants to be or is wearing right now. Shop every pointy shoe’s perfect match below.
It’s official: this season, the perfect coat is key to any winter outfit. Perennial fashion darling Katie Holmes was spotted out and about in NYC the Monday after Thanksgiving wearing a cozy looking sherpa style coat. We love how she paired the textured material with a cashmere turtleneck sweater, casual wide-leg jeans, and Celine sneakers.
If you love the look of a fleece or fuzzy teddy coat but want to browse similar styles before making a purchase, then you’re in luck. We’ve pulled 10 more sherpa coats that we think will look great this winter, whether or not it snows where you live.
Political events in D.C. don’t usually draw a crowd of well-dressed celebrities, but tonight certainly seemed to be the exception. The White House hosted a state dinner in honor of French President Emmanuel Macron’s official visit and it proved to be the ultimate convergence of Hollywood and the Hill.
Anna Wintour wore a vintage Chanel look from 1983, which came complete with built-in necklaces, belts, and bracelets. Interestingly, Wintour seems to have broken her own fashion rule. Amy Odell was quick to reference Wintour’s interview from 2019 in which she had some choice words about everyone’s favorite color: “Don’t wear all black,” Wintour had said. “It seems too gloomy as if one’s going to a funeral.” While the embellishments on the black gown certainly livened things up, it’s highly unusual to see Wintour in anything but colorful prints, so this was a rare sighting indeed. Scroll down to see her outfit and what other celebrities wore to the event.
While the average fashion consumer may have very little in common with the celebs who provide endless style inspiration, we can agree on one thing: affordable jewelry is a fun way to accessorize. Take actress and former Who What Wear cover star Lucy Boynton, who was spotted wearing a lacey black dress by ShuShu Tong and several pieces of gold jewelry at a screening of The Pale Blue Eyes in London. One ring caught our eye—the enamel coated heart with blue sapphires worn on Boynton’s middle finger—and we were delighted to discover that it is made by the direct-to-consumer jewelry brand, Mejuri.
Known for its delicate fine and semi-fine pieces, Mejuri offers gold and gold vermeil jewelry that the wearer is encouraged to purchase as a gift to themselves. With hundreds of pieces under $100—including Boynton’s ring—there will be no problem finding something special to unwrap for yourself this season.
The tough part, of course, is picking just one. We’ve pulled 12 of Mejuri’s best rings for you to browse below, including Boynton’s exact style. We won’t judge if you end up buying a ring for each finger. Just don’t forget: Mejuri has gorgeous earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, too.
Ashley Olsen could wear anything, and I’d think it was chic, and for good reason. It usually is. One half of the design duo behind The Row, Olsen is a walking ad campaign for the brand that everyone in fashion—no matter their personal style or taste—adores. So of course, when she steps out for even the most mundane of errands, her look inspires.
This time around, she was spotted checking off to-dos in NYC in a black tailored maxi coat, puddle pants, and a colorful scarf, but it was her bag—a $3000+ rectangular shoulder bag from The Row—that reeled me in. Simple, black, and bowler-like, the bag in question is utterly timeless and selling out like crazy. As much as I’d love to be one of those people snatching up the last few available styles, though, Olsen’s bag is just slightly (read significantly) out of my budget at the moment. Luckily, after a great deal of scrolling through Amazon, I discovered an alternative that called out to me just as much, and it’s $80.
Shop my $80 alternative to Olsen’s gorgeous $3000+ The Row bag below.
