  • This Natural Cannabinoid Makes You Feel Happy

This Natural Cannabinoid Makes You Feel Happy

    [ad_1]

Happiness is a wonderful part of life, but for some or at times, it can be elusive.  Finding happiness can be a lifelong journey, but who knew this natural cannabinoid makes you feel happy. Anandamide is a lipid mediator that acts as an endogenous ligand of CB1 receptors. These receptors are also the primary molecular target responsible for the pharmacological effects of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the psychoactive ingredient in Cannabis.

Anandamide is a natural cannabinoid produced in the human body. The compound gets its name from the Sanskrit word ananda, which when translated to English simply means bliss. This almost undiscovered compound, in every human body, plays an important role in regulating mood. It also has responsibilities related to appetite and pain relief. But its primary role in a complex system is around mood.

RELATED: 6 Things Everyone Needs To Know About Today’s Marijuana

Scientists had no clue about anandamide until they started trying to learn more about how THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) binds to the brain. It was during these studies researchers discovered an unusual neurotransmitter manufactured in the brain that seemed to mesh perfectly with THC receptors. This compound was originally called arachidonylethanolamide, but, for obvious reasons, it was given the updated moniker of anandamide.

The anandamide is a part of the human endocannabinoid system working to bring balance to our bodies and minds. People with high levels of anandamide have been shown to be more fearless. Those with lower levels can suffer from mental disorders ranging from depression to schizophrenia.

RELATED: Science Explains How Marijuana Inspires Awe

The good news is there are ways to boost anandamide production in the body. Studies have shown that the feeling commonly referred to as a “runner’s high” is connected to anandamide enhancement. This cannabinol is also in marijuana sativa.

Getting off the couch and engaging in some solid exercise is a good way to give the body an extra jolt of this all-important compound. Interestingly, consuming chocolate and cannabidiol (CBD) has also been shown to create an uptick in anandamide.

Arkansas proposal could increase access to medical marijuana – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

ARKANSAS, USA — On Jan. 12, the ballot committee Arkansans for Patient Access (APA) submitted a proposal to increase access to the Arkansas Medical Marijuana program, created in 2016 after voters approved Amendment 98.

“The goal of this ballot proposal is to reaffirm and build upon Amendment 98 to serve patients better,” said Amy Martin, owner of The Greenery dispensary in Fort Smith. “This amendment reflects a commitment to the principles established by the state’s voters. It reduces barriers and streamlines processes so qualifying patients can access the medicines and treatment options that best serve them.”

The 2024 Patient Access Amendment includes changes to definitions, eligibility criteria, and regulations. To improve access, particularly for Arkansans living in rural areas where primary care physicians are often limited, the amendment expands the definition of “health care practitioner” to broaden the range of qualified medical professionals who can provide written certifications.

It will also allow patients to be assessed and certified by a qualified provider via telemedicine.

  • NCAA Division I To Vote On Removing Marijuana From Banned Substances List For Student Athletes – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

NCAA Division I To Vote On Removing Marijuana From Banned Substances List For Student Athletes – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

A new collegiate athletics proposal would remove marijuana from the list of substances included in drug screenings for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship competitions, with officials set to vote on the matter in June. Proponents say the approach is consistent with designing rules to focus on reducing harm rather than punishing student athletes.

The plan would build on a 2022 change that increased the allowable THC threshold for college athletes, aligning NCAA’s rules with those of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The latest proposal would effectively treat marijuana more like alcohol. While NCAA doesn’t intend for the change to promote cannabis use, the substance isn’t believed to give competitors an unfair advantage in sport.

“Cannabis is not a performance-enhancing drug, and we determined that the drug testing conducted at NCAA championships should focus on substances that impact competitive outcomes,” Pat Chun, athletics director at Washington State and chair of the Strategic Vision and Planning Committee, said in a statement last week. “To be clear, this does not mean that NCAA members condone or promote use of cannabinoids. However, rather than focus on testing and subsequently penalizing student-athletes who use cannabis, NCAA efforts should focus on a harm reduction strategy, similar to substances like alcohol.”

A power outage took out supply to a chunk of Napier’s central business district during a busy retail period with passengers from two cruise ships in town.

The unscheduled outage hit late morning on Monday and was caused by a suspected cable fault, according to Unison.

The outage started at 10.41am and power began to return to some businesses by 11.15am, but power supply continued to fluctuate in the city for the next 45 minutes.

The outage affected about 200 properties on Dickens St, Dalton St, Station St, Emerson St, Hastings St and Marine Parade, among others.

Some shops and eateries were without power for over an hour. All properties had power returned by noon.

The outage hit as passengers from two cruise ships, the 3100-passenger cruise ship Grand Princess and the 2770-passenger Resilient Lady, were in town.

The owner of Kolachi cafe on Emerson St, Jaz Singh, said it was tough timing, and they were forced to close while the power was out and eventually opted not to reopen for the day as it was one of the last areas to have power restored.

“We have no other option than to close at this point because we don’t know when power is returning,” Singh said during the outage, which hit his cafe for more than an hour.

Kolkata: When it comes to encroaching on the entrance to places of worship, hawkers in Kolkata do not discriminate against any group. Be it a church, a mosque, a gurdwara, a temple or a synagogue, shrines across all religions in the city are grappling with the same problem, that of vendors taking over nearby space and blocking visitors’ way.
Not only do devotees have to jostle their way through shops and crowded pavements, the management of the shrines also faces difficulty arranging for ceremonies.Complaints to authorities have yielded no result. Instead, some have spread out their fares more and some have been found dumping the goods in front of the gates.

Hawkers had even laid out their fares in front of the main gate of the church, also known as the Cathedral of the Most Holy Rosary. “On special occasions, like Christmas, we make requests and the main gate is cleared for a couple of days,” said a representative of the church.

Minnesota Officials Form Interagency Plan To Rein In Sales Of High-THC Marijuana Being Sold As Legal Hemp – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

Because the Office of Medical Cannabis doesn’t have the power to regulate raw flower, inspectors can’t take samples to see if it is legal or illegal.

    By Peter Callaghan, MinnPost

This story was originally published by MinnPost.

Minnesota’s cannabis regulators say they have a plan to fill a gap in state law that could be letting some hemp retailers sell marijuana flower without consequence.

Charlene Briner, the interim director of the new Office of Cannabis Management, said Thursday that she is working with other agencies to provide a temporary method to inspect and test raw cannabis flower to make sure it does not violate current law.

She said the agency will look into using inspectors from the Office of Medical Cannabis and the Department of Agriculture to exercise the Office of Cannabis Management’s authority to stop the sale of cannabis flower that is illegal marijuana masquerading as legal hemp.

“OCM is evaluating how to leverage existing enforcement capacity at the Office of Medical Cannabis to act on OCM’s behalf and how we can develop capacity to test raw cannabis flower,” Briner said.

“We’ll be sharing more about those plans as we put them in place,” she said.

To be legal to sell now, hemp flower must contain only 0.3 percent delta-9 THC or less. Such hemp plants do not have enough THC to be intoxicating when eaten or smoked. But by processing the hemp for edibles and beverages, the THC content can be enhanced to produce an intoxicating…
