Observers say Minnesota’s lack of licensing requirements and penalties has left regulators and police unsure over how to respond to complaints and violations.”

Following a joint exercise by police and army on Wednesday at Ikuruwa Creek, Canje Creek Berbice River three marijuana farms were destroyed and a shot gun with matching ammunition seized.

A 67-year-old farmer was arrested.

According to a release from the police, the exercise was conducted between 4 am and 4 pm on Wednesday and apart from the destroyed marijuana fields, camps and 1800 cannabis plants, were also destroyed. The lawmen also discovered dried cannabis and cannabis seeds which had an approximate weight of 250 lbs.

As Sydney’s CBD performance continues to slide due to businesses packing up or reducing the amount of space they need, other parts of NSW have gathered momentum.

A recent report from The Property Council of Australia looked at the changing CBD and non-CBD office markets across the country and measured their performance in the wake of the pandemic.

The report found that a number of office locations were unable to fully recover, leaving other suburbs in the country to take up stock and absorb businesses moving in.

Parramatta’s CBD is out performing Sydney’s office market.

Both Sydney and Melbourne’s CBD recorded with increases in vacancy to 11.3 per cent and 13.8 per cent respectively, over the past year.

Meanwhile, markets such as Parramatta and Newcastle have outperformed the major cities – with high rates of demand to occupy space.

Ray White’s commercial head of research Vanessa Rader said Parramatta’s office market had continued to grow with high quality A-grade assets being added to the market and stock nearing a million square metres.

Chinese and Mexican nationals operate almost all illegal marijuana growing operations in the United States’ largest county, the leader of a local marijuana enforcement team told Fox News.

“When most people talk about gangs, they think about the typical Southern California gangbangers,” Sgt. Rich Debevek of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Marijuana Enforcement Team said. “And that’s not the way it is.”

“Mostly what we deal with are either Mexican nationals or Chinese nationals as our two largest groups of people that we deal with,” he continued. “I would estimate 85% are non-citizens.”

The City Council will be considering a change in the city’s marijuana ordinance that could lift the cap on the number of retail marijuana establishments allowed in the city.

The motion introduced by Council President Leo Robinson to revise the marijuana ordinance was sent to the council’s subcommittee on conference for further discussion.

The city currently has three active retail marijuana sales licenses, and thanks to the latest US Census number, the city’s cap on licenses stands at six.

But there are currently four applications in the pipeline for those three available licenses, all of which could appear before the city’s License Commission as early as this month.

Councilor-at-Large Brian Hatleberg said he does have questions about the proposed ordinance change that he is looking forward to seeing addressed in subcommittee.

“The section in here we are seeking to repeal is one that puts a cap on the number of marijuana-selling establishments in the city,” he said. “I tried to do some thinking on this one and I don’t know a lot about this. I can see some impacts in both directions, where if I had put a large amount of money into one of these businesses, I might view it as taking a large part of my investment away if the cap is gone.”

Hatleberg said he would like to hear from people who have a vested interest in the licenses.

“At the same time, I am completely opposed to most of the businesses, so I really don’t have a personal interest in removing…

On Saturday, a fire broke out at a hotel on Smith Street in the Durban CBD, resulting in a woman being taken to hospital due to smoke inhalation.

The hotel was evacuated, and according to a statement from eThekwini Municipality, the city’s fire and emergency crews responded to the fire in the morning.

The municipality said that upon arrival, the fire and emergency personnel located the floor where the fire started. Efforts were made to rescue and evacuate the occupants of the hotel as the smoke began to spread to other apartments.

After the fire was extinguished, affected floors were barricaded until structural engineers certify them to be safe for use. There were no fatalities reported.

An investigation is underway to establish the cause of the fire. Garrith Jamieson, the spokesperson for ALS Paramedics Medical Services, said that at around 9:30 a.m., paramedics responded to the hotel fire. Paramedics arrived at the scene where the Durban Fire Department and all necessary role-players were already in attendance.

One patient was brought out to the ambulance crew and was assessed by paramedics, who found that she had sustained moderate injuries as a result of the fire, including smoke inhalation. She was stabilised on the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for the care she required.
