    Preheat The Oven And Prepare The Pan:

    Make The Crust:

    • In a food processor or blender, pulse 20 whole Oreos (including the cream filling) and pecans into a fine crumb. You can also place them in a zip-top bag and crush them into fine crumbs with a little arm muscle and a rolling pin. You should have about 2 cups (packed) crumbs, or about 275 g.

    • Add the Oreo crumbs to a bowl and combine with the melted butter. The mixture will be thick and wet. If you notice any large chunks, try to smash/break them up.

    • Add the mixture to your springform pan. With moderate pressure, use your hand to press the crumbs firmly into the bottom and up the sides to create a compact, thick crust.Pro-Tip: A wooden pie tamper or small flat-bottomed measuring cup can help press down the bottom crust and smooth the surface, but don’t press too hard, or the crust will be very difficult to cut.
    • Bake the crust for 10 minutes. Set the pan on a wire rack and cool the crust completely. Leave the oven on.

    Make The Filling:

    • Combine the cornstarch and sugar in a bowl until well combined. Set aside.

    • Using an electric hand mixer or a stand mixer, beat the cream cheese and sour cream on low speed for 2 to 3 minutes, or until smooth and free of any lumps. Add the brown sugar mixture; continue mixing until incorporated. Gradually add the sweetened condensed milk and beat until creamy, 1 to 2 minutes. Add the lemon juice, vanilla, and heavy cream; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

    Assemble:

    • Pour half of the filling into your cooled crust. Then drizzle about 1/4 cup (75 g) caramel sauce over the top, then use a knife to gently swirl it with the batter. Add the remaining batter, again smoothing the surface into an even layer. Finally, tap the pan gently on the counter to pop any little air bubbles.

    Prepare The Water Bath:

    • First, protect your springform pan from water leaks. Wrap the outside with two layers of heavy-duty foil—or my favorite option, use a cheesecake protector. Once your pan is leakproof, place it inside a large roasting pan. Carefully pour hot water into the roasting pan until it reaches halfway up the sides of your cheesecake pan. This gentle water bath helps the cheesecake bake slowly and evenly for a smooth, crack-free texture.

    Bake:

    • Bake for 40 minutes, or until the edges are just barely puffed. When the initial 40 minutes of baking is over, turn off the oven and leave the cheesecake inside the hot oven, with the door closed, for 40 more minutes. The cheesecake will continue to cook but will slowly begin to cool as well. After the seconds 40 minutes, remove the cheesecake from the oven. The center should still wobble when you remove it.

    • Remove the cheesecake from the water bath and wrapping. Let it cool in the pan ( do not remove the side of the pan yet) until it reaches room temperature, then refrigerate in the pan for at least 6 hours or overnight (preferred).

    • When ready to serve, loosen the cheesecake from the pan’s sides by running a thin metal spatula around the inside rim. Unmold and transfer to a cake plate.

    Make The Topping:

    • Melt the chopped chocolate, either in a double boiler or the microwave. Microwave in 20-second increments, stirring after each until completely melted. Then, drizzle chocolate on top of the chilled cheesecake. The chocolate will set almost immediately, because the cheesecake is cold. Add more chopped pecans. And then, drizzle the caramel on top. The caramel helps keep the pecans in place. Finally, lightly sprinkle flaky sea salt on top, if desired.Pro-Tip: If using homemade caramel or any caramel sauce that’s been refrigerated, make sure it’s pourable consistency by warming it in the microwave.

    1. Blend: Add the 4 ingredients to a blender or spice grinder and blend until mixed well.
    2. Make Popcorn: Pop popcorn (make from popcorn kernels or use microwave bagged popcorn), however much you want! Drizzle with melted butter and then sprinkle with the caramel popcorn seasoning and stir to combine (or put in a big bowl with a lid and shake until well coated).

    1. Make the Salted Caramel (if using homemade)

      Important: Since the salted caramel needs to be completely cool when added to the buttercream, I recommend making it in advance, if possible, the day before.

      To make the salted caramel for your buttercream, cook the sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until it melts into a smooth, amber-colored liquid (about 3–5 minutes). Remove from the heat, add the butter, and stir until fully melted and combined. Return the pan to low heat and slowly drizzle in the heavy cream, stirring as the mixture bubbles up, until smooth and well blended. Finish by stirring in the salt until it is fully incorporated.     2. Whip the Butter

      Start by beating the butter in a big bowl using a hand mixer or stand mixer. Go for medium speed and mix it until it’s smooth and creamy—about 3 to 4 minutes. This gives your frosting a light, fluffy base.

    3. Add Sugar, Milk, and Vanilla

      Turn the mixer down to low and add 1 cup of the sifted sugar. Mix just until it’s blended in. Then pour in the milk and vanilla and mix again. After that, add the rest of the sugar, mixing on low first for a minute. Then crank it up to medium-high for 4 to 5 minutes until your frosting is smooth, fluffy, and spreadable. Don’t forget to scrape down the sides of the bowl once or twice so everything blends perfectly.

    4. Mix in the Salted Caramel

      Add the cooled salted caramel and whip it all together until it’s silky and fully combined. Your frosting is starting to smell amazing at this point!

    5. Final Mix Before Using

      Before you frost your cake or cupcakes, give the buttercream one last mix by hand with a spatula or wooden spoon. Press it against the sides of the bowl to push out any trapped air so your frosting is perfectly smooth and ready to spread.

So keep your eyes open to determining when a baked good is done. I highly recommend placing an oven thermometer in your oven so you can read the inside temperature in real-time.
    • Serve slightly warm or at room temperature. You can slice and serve the cake warm, but the slices will be messy. I find it’s best to cool the cake completely at room temperature before slicing and serving. Do not refrigerate the cake to speed up the cooling process because it could end up tasting overly dense.

    ❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE

    This recipe for Turtle Cake has been around for a while but seems to always be a hit at my house when I make it. Serve it with some vanilla ice cream on top for a great dessert for friends and family. This turtle cake tastes like a brownie with caramel inside. It is an easy recipe since it is made with cake mix.

    🍴KEY INGREDIENTS

    • Pillsbury Moist Supreme German Chocolate Cake Mix with pudding in the mix (plus ingredients to make cake)
    • Evaporated milk, divided
    • Butter 
    • Kraft caramels or about 40 pieces
    • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
    • Pecan or walnut pieces

    🍽️HOW TO MAKE

    This cake is pretty simple to make but it does take a little prep with the caramels.

    COOKING STEPS

    Step 1
    Mix the cake mix according to package directions then add 1/2 cup of the evaporated milk and the butter using mixer. 

    Step 2
    Pour 1/2 of the cake mixture or about 2 1/2 cups into a 9 x 13 baking pan sprayed with cooking spray. Bake this in a preheated 350 degree oven for 10 minutes. 

    Step 3
    While the cake is baking melt the caramels along with the other 1/2 cup of evaporated milk either on top of the stove or in the microwave. It takes about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes to melt in the microwave and take out every minute and stir. 

    Step 4
    Pour the melted caramels over the cooked cake and sprinkle on chocolate chips and nuts. Pour the rest of the cake mix on top of the caramels, chips and nuts and put back in oven for 35 more minutes.

    If you don’t want to use a cake mix, you can always use our recipe to make your own German Chocolate Cake. We love this cake topped with ice cream, you may want to heat it up a little so the caramel doesn’t get hard with the cold ice cream.

    Who doesn’t love that over the top Texas Roadhouse sweet potato?! Oh, Mama!! Check this copycat recipe out!!!!

    Tender sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows, that signature Texas Roadhouse honey cinnamon butter, and a heavenly caramel sauce. These sweet potatoes are the best side dish for Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just a nice Sunday dinner.

    Why do I love Texas Roadhouse so much? Is it the house salad with that thick dressing and those darn hard boiled eggs? Is it those rolls that I shovel into my mouth faster than I can say, “one more please!” Actually, I probably am the rolls because I definitely don’t like how loud it is. Cade would for sure, 100% say it’s the Texas Roadhouse Loaded Sweet Potato. Hence this post and my need to create a copycat recipe.

    Ingredients for Texas Roadhouse Sweet Potato Recipe

    • Sweet Potatoes
    • Mini Marshmallows
    • Honey Cinnamon Butter: butter, cinnamon, vanilla, and honey
    • Caramel Sauce: butter, brown sugar, honey

    How to Make Texas Roadhouse Sweet Potatoes

    First you’re going to start with the butter and I cannot emphasize enough, real butter is necessary. No margarine. Sorry. And if you’re like us you’ll want to make extra for soft rolls like our famous potato rolls or homemade rolls.

    Then there’s the caramel sauce. I really think this is more a dessert than anything else, but we can all pretend I didn’t say that when you eat it with your big, juicy steak at dinner. The caramel sauce actually keeps really well and heck, you could eat that caramel over ice cream if you wanted!

    But really, these sweet potatoes are the best because it’s honey cinnamon butter, caramel and lots of gooey marshmallows. I tell Cade over and over it’s more like dessert than a side dish, but he just gives me that little smile and dives in.

    All you do is bake the sweet potatoes, and then top with the butter, marshmallows, and caramel sauce. Then you bake it a little longer to get those marshmallows roasted, and you’re done! You could even switch the oven to broil to toast them up really quickly. You’ll only need a minute or so on broil, so keep a close eye on them!

    Can I Eat the Sweet Potato Skin?

    The skin is actually one of the my favorite parts. I know, I’m a weirdo according to my kids! But it just adds the tiniest bit of texture and I love it! You can choose to scoop the flesh of the potato out of the skin, or just devour the whole thing like me!

    Tips for the Best Loaded Sweet Potatoes

    Use real butter for the honey cinnamon butter. It has to be real or it won’t be right!

    Use an oven mitt or two when you pierce into the center of each potato because they will be piping hot! I usually put one over mitt on and slice each potato and then put another one on and then hold each end with each hand and push inward to open them up.

    Don’t forget to stick the sweet potatoes back into the oven after you get all the toppings on so the marshmallows can melt a little and get all roasted and gooey!

    How Many Calories in a Texas Roadhouse Sweet Potato?

    If you don’t want to know, then just keep on scrolling! These are definitely a once-in-a-while, only-for-special-occasions type side dish, but some recipes are so delicious, it’s worth it to indulge every once in a while! One of these potatoes with all the toppings will have around 570 calories, 91g of carbohydrates, and 49g of sugar. Some things are just better left unknown! Haha!

    • Heat the oven to 450 degrees. Lay a little foil on the oven rack and place each potato on top.

      4 Sweet Potatoes

    • Bake for 35-45 minutes or until cooked through. Remove them from the oven.

    • Pierce the top of the potato in a line from one end to the other and using oven mitts, squeeze in and together, pressing the potato open.

    • Place 1 tablespoon of the honey cinnamon butter and a few marshmallows in the bottom, pour a little caramel sauce all over each potato and place more marshmallows on top. Place back in the oven for 2-4 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden and fluffy.

      2 Cups Mini Marshmallows

    Honey Cinnamon Butter

    • In a small dish, stir the butter until creamy. Add in the honey, cinnamon, and vanilla and stir to combine. Place the butter on saran wrap and wrap into a log to refrigerate until chilled.

      4 Tablespoons Butter, 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon, 2 teaspoons Honey, 1 Dash Vanilla

    Caramel Sauce

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, add the butter, brown sugar and honey, and whisk to combine. Cook until it begins to bubble then turn down to low and allow to simmer until thick, about 5 minutes.

      4 Tablespoons Butter, 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar, 2 Tablespoons Honey

    to reheat, warm them in the microwave or place in a covered saute pan with a bit of water set over medium-high eat until warmed through
