Prince George’s Co. police want help catching person planting explosive devices – WTOP News

Over the course of the last few months, someone has allegedly been placing incendiary devices on the property of fire station 805 in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Over the course of the last few months, someone has allegedly been placing incendiary devices on the property of Fire Station 805 in Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Officials in Prince George’s County said it has happened three times over the past few months. They did not specify dates and times for fear of compromising the investigation.

During a news conference Wednesday, police, along with officials from the Prince George’s County Fire & EMS Department, the Capitol Heights Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, released information, including a video that officials said shows a suspect committing the crimes on Aug. 13.

The video shows a person carrying what appears to be Molotov cocktails and placing them at the base of a flagpole and in a mailbox.

He’s dressed in black pants and wearing a unique jacket from the “Members Only” brand with red letters that say “Tom and Jerry” and a cartoon bulldog with a caption that reads “1 bad boy.”

“We were very fortunate to get very, very good pictures and video of the suspect,” said Assistant Fire Chief Carroll Spriggs. “And so now, we have a great opportunity to get that person in and to question him.”

There have been no other such incidents at any other county fire stations, and Spriggs believes the Capitol Heights station is being specifically targeted in order to intimidate the personnel there.

No one has been injured from the devices.

Officials are particularly interested in catching the suspect because the areas in which the devices have placed are accessible by the public. Schools are located nearby, and there is concern a child might come in contact with one of the devices.

A $7,500 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction.

2 arrested in killing of Capitol Heights tire shop employee – WTOP News

Two men have been arrested and charged in the deadly shooting of a 41-year-old Bladensburg man at a tire shop, according to Prince George’s County police in Maryland.

Two men have been arrested and charged in the shooting death of a 41-year-old Bladensburg man at a tire shop, according to police in Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Authorities said Ronnell Hardy, 43, of Capitol Heights, and Avery Eccles, 42, of Upper Marlboro, have been charged in connection with the killing of 41-year-old Anthony Okoye in September, according to a news release from police.

Hardy and Eccles are being charged with first- and second-degree murder, as well as other related charges.

Officers were sent to the 1200 block of Marblewood Ave. to perform a welfare check around 6:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, according to police. That’s when they found Okoye, who had been shot.

He was taken to a hospital and died a short time later.

Okoye “was the kind of guy who doesn’t have any problem at all,” according to co-worker Hugo Amadi, as WTOP’s John Domen reported last month.

“The guy was one of the best colleagues I have,” Amadi said.

“Everybody was like, ‘My man, my man, that’s my man, that’s my man,’” he added about Okoye’s relationship with customers.

Police are asking anyone with information that could help the investigation to call 301-516-2512 to speak with a homicide detective.

A Prince George’s County, Maryland, man is dead after his car struck a light pole, following an initial hit-and-run crash with another vehicle in a D.C. tunnel on Friday, police said.

A Prince George’s County, Maryland, man is dead after his car struck a light pole, following an initial hit-and-run crash with another vehicle in a D.C. tunnel on Friday, police said.

Ronald Jerome Jordan Jr., 48, of Capitol Heights, was driving a Malibu northbound in the Third Street Tunnel when he rear-ended a Ford Transit Wagon at the exit to Massachusetts Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, according to police.

Jordan did not stop after his car rear-ended the Ford, police said, adding that he fled northbound in the tunnel.

Police said that Jordan crossed lanes of traffic and began driving in the shoulder lane before getting back into the main traffic lanes, mounting a curb on the east side of the road, and striking a light pole.

Jordan died at a hospital following the crash.

Three people are in the hospital Thursday night after a shooting in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to authorities.

Three people are in the hospital Thursday night after a shooting in Prince George’s County, Maryland, according to authorities.

It started around 6:20 p.m. when officers found the first victim in the 5300 block of Sheriff Road in the Capitol Heights area near the D.C. border. Police say he’s in the hospital and is expected to survive.

A second man was found shot less than a half-mile away in the 1200 block of Farmingdale Avenue.

A third victim was found injured in D.C.

Police say they believe all three victims were wounded in the same shooting, but they are in stable condition.

No information about the suspect(s) was immediately available.
