After treating pain with medical marijuana, Ryan Shazier launches new line of products – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

When former Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier suffered a terrifying injury during a 2017 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, he didn’t know that trying to walk again would lead to even more battles during his recovery.

As his journey progressed from paralysis to relearning how to walk, Shazier not only had to deal with pain, but also depression and anxiety that grew from mourning the loss of football in his life.

After being prescribed opioid-based painkillers, he realized he wanted to find alternatives to the highly addictive drugs.

Shazier discovered medical marijuana and found it to be a safer alternative. He knew he had hit upon something.

The products worked so well that he decided to launch a line of medical cannabis products to help others looking for opioid alternatives.

Shazier partnered with Organic Remedies in January, introducing Steel City Greats at a launch party Jan. 26 at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto atop Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh. The line is geared to help patients manage pain, depression and anxiety, all of which Shazier dealt with during recovery.

In an effort to reduce the stigma that exists surrounding medical marijuana, Shazier has spoken publicly about the benefits of legal cannabis.

“Because of this stigma, many patients suffering from a wide array of health conditions are not comfortable discussing medical marijuana
with their health care providers,” Shazier said. “As we lessen the stigma, more patients will be able to benefit from…

Study findings suggest specific targets for future drugs.

A previously unknown way in which cannabidiol (CBD), a substance found in cannabis, reduces seizures in many treatment-resistant forms of pediatric epilepsy has been revealed by a new scientific study.

Led by researchers at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, the study found that CBD blocked signals carried by a molecule called lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI). Found in brain cells called neurons, LPI is thought to amplify nerve signals as part of normal function, but can be hijacked by disease to promote seizures.

Published online on February 13 in the journal Neuron, the work confirmed a previous finding that CBD blocks the ability of LPI to amplify nerve signals in a brain region called the hippocampus. The current findings argue for the first time that LPI also weakens signals that counter seizures, further explaining the value of CBD treatment.

“Our results deepen the field’s understanding of a central seizure-inducing mechanism, with many implications for the pursuit of new treatment approaches,” said corresponding author Richard W….

Coffee at Little Mule, or a beer in the strange loading-zone jumble that was St Jerome’s. A pastrami roll and music played off vinyl at Rue Bebelons. Hardware picked up from Bunnings on Bourke Street. Buying a magazine from McGills on Elizabeth Street before heading up Little Bourke past John Donne & Son’s map shop to that Iranian restaurant near Hardware Lane (even I can’t remember its name).

This is what living in the Melbourne CBD for the past 20 years has gifted me: a strange mental muddle of cafes, shops and bars that have come and gone, surviving as ghosts in the memory of a long-term city resident.

As Cara Waters wrote on Wednesday, since the pandemic the city centre is shifting from a place of business to a place where people live, and live it up. An increasing number of people are likely to base themselves in the city centre. So what’s it like living here?

At noon on February 28, I’ll have lived in the Melbourne CBD for exactly 20 years, in an apartment within a converted office block on the corner of Elizabeth and Little Bourke Streets, opposite the GPO. When my wife Narrelle and I made the move from Richmond in 2003, we thought we were moving into the big city. To our surprise, we moved into a village.

Over time, our patch of the CBD was revealed as sharing the characteristics of a country town. There were plenty of big…

CBD And Cocoa: Clear The Doubts In Your Head – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

View the original article about CBD And Cocoa at CBD Cream Site.

Has cocoa got anything similar to CBD? Let’s explore by answering a few common questions people have.

The answer to this question is no, cocoa does not contain endocannabinoids. Endocannabinoids are molecules produced naturally in the body that bind to endocannabinoid receptors, which are found throughout the body. These molecules are responsible for regulating a variety of physiological functions, including mood, memory, appetite, and pain perception. Cocoa does contain compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols which have been linked to improved health and wellness, but it does not contain endocannabinoids.

Yes, cocoa does contain anandamide, which is also known as the “bliss molecule.” Anandamide is a naturally occurring chemical in the human brain that is responsible for feelings of joy and happiness. It has been found to be present in a number of foods, including dark chocolate, raw cocoa, and some types of nuts and seeds. The effects of anandamide vary from person to person, but it is generally accepted that consuming foods containing this molecule can contribute to feelings of pleasure and relaxation. Let’s compare CBD and anandamide:

CBD and anandamide are two compounds that are gaining attention for their potential health benefits. Both of them interact with the endocannabinoid system, but they do so in different ways.

Cannabidiol or CBD is a naturally occurring compound, found in…

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) cautioned Kenyans against speculating about the mysterious death of its staff, Lillian Waithera, which occurred in Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) on Monday, February 13.

In a statement dated Thursday, February 16, NHIF acknowledged a viral letter making rounds on social media alleging foul play in the death of the former employee.

The agency stated that the police were investigating the matter, urging Kenyans to accord the family of the deceased respect as it mourned its loved one.

“Our attention has been drawn by social media posts speculating her unexplained death. NHIF wishes to advise the members of the public to avoid speculation and to allow relevant investigative authorities to handle the matter.

On the other hand, NHIF dismissed claims made over the management of the national health insurer in the viral letter.

Tony Evers’ third budget again presses on rejected proposals like legalizing marijuana, expanding Medicaid – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

In 2019 and 2021, Gov. Tony Evers submitted two-year budget proposals that significantly increased state spending and included a host of items on the Democratic wish list that Republicans who control the Legislature scrapped nearly wholesale.

After winning reelection last year, Evers was back Wednesday with another sweeping budget proposal. This time he’s again pressing the gas on requests Republicans have rejected in past budgets, some of which featured in his reelection campaign. Those include legalizing marijuana, raising the state’s minimum wage, expanding Medicaid, spending millions to address homelessness and extending background checks for firearm sales.

Legislative Republicans are all but certain to reject those proposals again. Assembly Speaker Vos, R-Rochester, told WisconsinEye in January that he expects the GOP-led Legislature to handle Evers’ newest proposal as they have the past two cycles — by stripping the budget down to its base and starting over.

How Smoking CBD Flower is a Great Way to Relax – Orange County Register – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

    [ad_1]

In this era of pandemics and global uncertainty, even a little bit of relaxation can seem hard to come by. At the same time the world situation has spiraled increasingly out of control, though, average people have taken increasing control over their own bodies and minds with the help of natural substances like CBD hemp flower.

Whether you already know which hemp CBD flower strains to buy or you’re completely new to the concept of smokable hemp, you may never have particularly considered CBD flower to be a relaxation tool. As we’ll explain, though, CBD flower is much more than just an alternative to THC or cigarettes — it has relaxing effects that have made smoking hemp a hit among adults of all generations.

    What Is CBD Flower?

CBD flower, also called CBD hemp flower or just “hemp flower,” is smokable-grade hemp flower that looks and smells indistinguishable from dried THC buds, A.K.A. marijuana. Inside CBD flower, though, you’ll find less than 0.3% THC — far too little to get you high.

Due to this low THC concentration, CBD flower is usually considered “industrial hemp” as per the 2018 Farm Bill. CBD flower comes in dozens of different strains, each with their own terpene profiles and uniquely desirable attributes.

    Is CBD Flower Relaxing?

Most users would describe CBD flower as having a relaxing effect. As a cannabinoid, CBD is entirely devoid of intoxicating attributes — put another way, CBD will never, ever get you high. Even when you smoke it, this…

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A woman was arrested in Brownsville after authorities found 360 pounds of marijuana, along with her child, inside her vehicle, documents show.

Roseanna Garcia was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, federal records show.

At 4:20 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 9, Border Patrol learned of a black SUV driving north from Sabal Palm Sanctuary in Brownsville, an area described as “notoriously known for drug smuggling,” a criminal complaint stated.

Border Patrol agents arrived at the scene and saw the black Chevrolet Trailblazer driving north near Sabal Palm Road and Southmost Road at approximately 40 miles per hour. The complaint stated the vehicle did not stop for Border Patrol agents for two miles.

Agents identified the driver as Garcia, and searched the vehicle, revealing four bundles in a back compartment and a fifth bundle in the backseat, the complaint alleges.
