The Parisian Maison Diptyque has long been the candle brand of choice for those in the know. You’d be hard-pressed to find a fashion girl without a Baies candle somewhere in her apartment. While Diptyque vessels have become a decor piece for many (even Carrie Bradshaw used them as storage containers in her apartment in And Just Like That), they’ve never technically been reusable. Until now, that is.
Diptyque’s latest addition, Les Mondes de Diptyque, marks a new beginning for the brand in the candle space. “The essence of a sustainable Diptyque candle is a testament to the sacred balance between tradition and innovation,” says Laurence Semichon, Diptyque Senior Vice President, Brand. “It’s about offering a lasting experience, both in terms of olfactory delight and a visual masterpiece. For example, [in the] Les Mondes de Diptyque collection, the candles aren’t just a one-time wonder. They are designed to be refilled, ensuring that the splendid glass monoliths grace your space for years to come, reducing waste and embracing the idea of timeless luxury.” Diptyque also prioritizes high-quality, sustainable raw materials in their candle production.
For Diptyque, the journey to sustainability is just beginning. According to Semichon, the brand is committed to creating more sustainable products in the future by seeking creative solutions to reduce waste, boost product longevity, and design lasting, beautiful, and thoughtfully sourced products that consumers will want to keep.
We have finally made it to my favorite time of year and I couldn’t be happier. Fall gives me an opportunity to lean in to get cozy and prioritize all the things that make me feel good. One the biggest ways I do this is by switching up my fragrance picks, skincare, makeup routine, and haircare to reflect my lifestyle. This year, it’s all about luxury. That’s right, we’re talking paying little to no attention to the price tags and going all out for myself.
The best part? I’m not the type to gate keep my favorites. Below you’ll find every single luxurious product across the previously mentioned categories that I’m planning to invest in for the autumn/winter season. If you’re finally ready to embrace your inner Jasmine Tookes or Sofia Richie, you’ll want to keep reading with your credit card at the ready! They scream quiet luxury in the best way.
Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic column may have been focused on dating, but based on her taste in candles, I’m pretty sure she could have been a beauty editor. While passively catching up on And Just Like That last week (as a longtime Sex and the City fan, I can’t help but stay in the loop), I spotted a familiar sight—and something I have in my own bathroom: a cleaned-out Diptyque candle vessel being used as a toothbrush holder.
After a quick scan of the rest of her apartment, it seems she has a few Diptyque candles lying around. The Parisian Maison has long been a favorite of beauty editors and fashion people—you’d have a tough time walking into the home of any beauty editor or fashion person and not finding at least one Diptyque candle either being burned or being used as a container post-burn like Bradshaw.
Diptyque candles all smell incredible—each scent feels like it was made specifically with chic living rooms in mind. They burn for 60+ hours and are made with high-quality wax that burns cleanly. Keep reading for a few of our favorite Diptiqye candles that will help you begin to channel Carrie Bradshaw’s decor vibe.
As a child in Morocco, Benaïm expressed an early interest in the composition and extraction of essential oils. Ralph Lauren’s Polo, Calvin Klein’s Euphoria, and Viktor&Rolf’s best-selling Flowerbombcan all be traced back to him. However, the intrigue doesn’t stop there. Maison Margiela has taken the creation of its charming eau de toilettes one step further with deliciously fragrant scented candles. The On a Date candle echoes its eau de toilette partner, creating a seductive ambiance from mineral wax and a single wick that has a seven-hour burn time. Crafted in the South of France, Maison Margiela’s scented candles possess a high volume of perfume concentrate, rivaling that of its eau de toilettes.
Pair the two together, and you’ve got an olfactory experience like no other. Since receiving this fragrance, I’ve worn it every day. I love how it shifts and transforms with time, beginning with bold florals and ending with a whisper of sun-drenched fruit. The candle has also quickly become a new favorite of mine. I love beginning my morning by lighting it to make my cozy one-bedroom apartment smell warm and inviting. I may not be Meg Ryan living in the heart of a bustling city with dial-up internet, but I sure know how to bring on the romance.
Following the release of Netflix’s hit series Emily in Paris‘s third drama- and fashion-filled season, I was left with only one lasting image I couldn’t get out of my head: the rolling lavender hills of Provence that the hit series practically dedicated an entire episode to. When Sylvie and her on-again, off-again husband weren’t getting chased out of the lavender fields by bees during a late-night romp, viewers were blessed with just over 20 minutes of picturesque views of the popular French destination.
For anyone who has no immediate plans to hop on a plane and experience the rolling hills of Provence in person, scented candles with notes of lavender may be the perfect solution. Keeping that energy, I’ve rounded up 12 of my favorite candles that feature notes of luscious lavender as well as a few other floral fragrances I’m loving lately. If you’re ready for a heavy dose of lavender, you’ll want to keep scrolling!
If I could be any animal, I would without a doubt be a hermit crab. Much like the aptly named crustacean, I too find great joy in curling up at home and, if I had the chance, would love to live permanently in such a state. Sadly for me, my job as a beauty editor requires quite a lot of running around from appointment to appointment, and so it’s not very often I find myself with masses of time at home.
However, it’s because of this that I have developed a penchant for buying items that really level up my time at home. More specifically, I have become somewhat obsessed with buying and collecting luxury scented candles. The first thing I do when I get home is light a candle. I want my entire apartment to be filled with a luxurious, mind-soothing aroma.
Since I write about products for a living, it’s safe to assume I own a lot of them. After all, I’m a consumer first and a writer second.
I like to find products that make me feel my best, so if enough people are claiming that a certain makeup brush changed their life, I will be trying it. I try to stay ahead of trends and weed out the ones that’ll last. Finding the top influencer rated products that actually work is my hobby.
I’ve been influenced by both brands that are actually worth it like Skims and Beis, and brands that actually aren’t worth it like Drunk Elephant and Tarte. It’s all a part of the process. Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn.
And because I’m under the firm belief that if you love something, buy two of it, you can imagine my room is a shopper’s paradise for my friends. You need perfume, makeup, clothes, bags? Come to me.
This is a long-winded way of saying my friends often steal my stuff. But that means these products are so worth it that they can’t help but take it from me. Here are my most “borrowed” items:
This product makes me want to be a better person. The icy white highlight is unmatched – it’s what my friends liken to “snow queen” vibes. It’s perfect for your eyelids or as a highlighter.
The pan is huge, so it’ll last forever and the classic quilted Dior packaging makes it the perfect purse compact.
This cream speeds up your blow drying process and even has a pearlescent hue. My hair never feels healthier than when I use it and the shine rivals the sun. If you want the perfect blow out, use the tiniest bit of this cream.
Oribe sells salon-quality hair products, but they can be expensive. The SuperShine Cream is worth every penny and will last a lot longer than your usual leave-in since you need such a small amount.
I know TikTok has forced Beis down our throats, but it’s for a good reason. Shay Mitchell has single-handedly solved every traveler’s problem. The Convertible Weekender is perfect because the bottom fully unzips so you can keep shoes or dirty clothes in the bottom half.
While you may be scared to get the full-size because of how large they seem in videos, I’ve found that both the larger Work Tote and Weekender bags fit everything I need without being unmanageable.
I love a subtle island smell that isn’t overpowering or nauseating. The Voluspa Coconut Vanilla candle is exclusive to Sephora and smells almost identical to Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. All candles are actually made with coconut wax, so you’re getting a refreshing, non-artificial coconut scent.
I’m addicted to this scent and the Voluspa jars are perfect to reuse and repurpose. I’d take this candle over Diptyque any day.
What my friends have dubbed the “Joe Burrows” are their favorite staple to steal. The rectangle frames are reminiscent of the famous Cartier shades, but hundreds of dollars cheaper. The brown frames are also refreshing compared to the classic black, so I was sold.
These are my go-to sunnies for when I’m making a fashion statement. The brown lens doesn’t block the sun as much, so they’re perfect even indoors a la Anna Wintour.
Each Diptyque candle is inspired by a time, place or story. For example, the Figuier (Fig Tree) candle was created to capture the memories of the founders’ many holidays in Mount Pelion, Greece, where, each day, they crossed a natural grove of wild fig trees to reach the sea.
There’s no denying Diptyque candles have a certain je ne sais quoi about them, which can only be understood when you’ve burned one for yourself. Unsure which Diptyque candles you should invest in? Keep scrolling to discover the brand’s best sellers, the three candles that started it all, and some of the Who What Wear team’s all-time favorites.
At WWW, we’re pros at two things: Shopping (obviously) and sniffing out the latest and greatest scents to hit the market. In case you thought our love for fragrances stopped at eau de parfums, think again. There’s another category of fragrance that we absolutely lose our minds over and that’s candles. No matter the season, we aim to not only smell incredible ourselves, but to also have a home that’s filled with the soft, alluring scent of someone who really has their shit together.
Winter, specifically, is the perfect season for this. The weather is chilly, the wind is high, and that candle collection you’ve been waiting to bust out will fill the room with freshness and wonder. When friends come over, they know they’re in for a cozy treat. That being said, there’s such an array of winter-themed candles out there that it can be tough to know which ones are actually worth adding to your arsenal. Luckily, that’s what our trusty team of editors is here for. We happen to be experts in the matter and can confidently provide recs. Keep scrolling—we’re sharing all our favorite winter candles that set the chicest winter vibe below.
We know it’s hard to find the right gifts for your loved ones, so we’ve compiled a ton of fashion and beauty-focused gift guides tailored to a range of interests and budgets. Check out our latest below and find more right here.
A candle may not immediately seem like the most creative holiday gift option — cue “Saturday Night Live”‘s peach candle song (a tragically under-appreciated sketch). But just because something is a bit cliché doesn’t mean it’s not also a classic and a crowd pleaser. It’s just about finding the right scent and vibe for the giftee.
Do your loved ones crave traditionally festive holiday scents — balsam firs! cloves! juniper berries! latkes! — this time of year? There’s a candle (or 12) for that. Or perhaps they prefer something a little more off-kilter and unexpected: That’s your opportunity to swoop in with a candle inspired by charred marshmallows, just-cut grass or a freshly popped can of tennis balls. If your goal is to show them just how well you know them, though, this is also your chance to wrap up a candle-ified version of their signature Glossier or Maison Francis Kurdjian perfume.
In the gallery below, we’ve rounded up 24 joy-sparking options that prove candles can make one hell of a holiday gift. And not one of them is peach scented, for the record.

Candles, pine cones and dried fruit make for warmth and fragrance in a winter home

When the temperatures drop and the winds pick up, we appreciate our homes for the shelter they provide. But we want more than mere comfort; we want our homes to be cozy and relaxing. With the holidays approaching, Pacific Palisades Realtors collaborated with interior design experts Jaqueline Hamilton and Nicola Rodriguez to reveal tips on how to make your home cozy this Winter.
Candles & scents:
“Candles can change the atmosphere and ambience of a room instantly” says interior designer Jaqueline Hamilton.
“Not only the glow of a beautifully lit candle can cast a lovely feeling of coziness to a room but also the scent can do that too.
“Choosing a scented candle can create a gorgeous smell in a room and can evoke a feeling of warmth and wellbeing and bring back memories of past winters.”
Designer Nicola Rodriguez adds: “Adding a fragrant reed diffuser, oil/wax burner or plug-in gives the room a cozy feeling before you’ve even opened your eyes. Fragrances such as pine, cinnamon, spiced apple, clove, mulled wine and woody aromas are a must for this season!”
Garlands & accessories:
“Using Christmas accessories such as bowls of pinecones or winter floral arrangements is a great way to make your room inviting and cozy” says designer Rodriguez.
“Whether it be faux foliage or fresh that you have gathered from the garden, this is a wonderful way to bring texture and the outside in to your living area” adds designer Hamilton.
“Having a fireplace is not necessary, as garlands can be placed on a sideboard or in the form of a wreath on a wall. Adding twinkling lights is another idea to create another lovely mood and display.”
Lighting
“A room should have at least one or two lamps depending on the size of it. During the holiday season, mood lighting is so important and can soften a room, as using the main pendant light in the room can at times be too strong” explains Jaqueline.
According to designer Rodriguez, another good way to make a home cozy is merging mood lighting to the use of candlelight. This can really help creating that snug feel and atmosphere. It also helps cutting the cost of electricity, which is a plus in our current financial crisis.
Rugs, blankets & cushions
“Rugs are such a focal point in any room” says designer Hamilton.
“Rugs are not only for wooden or hard floors, but for carpets too. The shaggier and softer the rugs are, the cozier they’ll make a home feel. They also help to keep the heat in during cold winter afternoons.” adds designer Nicola Rodriguez.
“Adding cushions, throws and blankets on your sofas as well as lined heavy curtains also add that cozy feel to a room. Not only do the blankets keep you snug and warm but by adding textures such as knit, sheepskin, chenille and velvet also combine the cozy look and feel.” she adds.
Paint colors:
According to designer Hamilton, pastel colors can look cold and harsher in the winter months and one way of warming up a room can be using a warm dramatic paint color. She recommends colors that are taken from nature in the autumn months, such as rich reds, terracotta and warm mustards, which can all bring a depth and coziness to a room.
Designer Rodriguez adds “If you have areas in your room that look bare, invest in a statement chair or sofa and create a cozy corner by adding a soft lamp on a small side table. This will help maximize your home space and create a welcoming atmosphere.”
A spokesperson for Pacific Palisades Realtors comments:
“With the holiday seasons around the corner, people tend to spend most of their time indoors enjoying the warmth and comfort of their homes.
Therefore, we want to create an environment where we can relax and feel cozy, away from the harsh weather.
Whether it is an old family home or a newly purchased one, decorating your home for the holidays can be a joyful individual or group activity to set the mood for the winter months ahead.”
